Alright, so I've gotten a very good look at Devy and I gotta say, it's beyond bullshit at the price point.
Hightower.....he just got screwed. They all got screwed, but he got the worst of it.
How cheap is this monstrosity gonna have to be for you to bite, gentlemen?
I'll put TK down for NOT IF THEY PAID ME, and myself for $20.
I'd take one if they paid me. I would leave it sealed and put it in my closet covered by a garbage bag so I'd never accidentally look at it, and then sell it on eBay in a few years when it's *** TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN DEVASTATOR MISB RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *** and goes for $300.

It's probably gonna be so mass reproduced and ultimately clearanced that it'll be ages before it's worth anything
Fun fact - one of the more popular TF customizers sold a re-painted version of it on eBay for fucking four thousand dollars. Yes, someone was willing to pay that much for it just because it had some weathering effects. Whoo!
You didn't answer my question...

Ok
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"
Seriously. Fuck that toy. It's not even well detailed, the much smaller voyager and deluxe vehicles look way better. Then...there's the legends-class version that manages to have the robot modes as well. You're telling me they couldn't have figured out how to squeeze that little functionality into the 100 dollar one? Come on.
Yes, I know. We've discussed that like 5 times. Was just wondering what you'd pay, in spite of it all.

Think Ill pass on this one, last one was a joke! Goofy plot and acting aside, I think the designers tat worked on these Transformers films need to take a look at Terminator 4 to see what REAL robot design looks like. These transformers just look plain silly, look at those goofy eyes they havetotally overdesigned as well with all those extra curves and surfaces. Never once did I believe they were capable of transforming into the objects theyre supposed to be. FAIL.

The biggest improvement is that it gets rid of the huge areas of bland grey all over the face. Japanese version put a lot of red all over it, and even that was better.
Never really had a huge problem with the design, just the quality of the toy/transformation and the price.

For my money, Pixar makes some of the most beautiful, charming, and entertaining movies of any studio in existence right now. Wall-E is phenomenal, but so is... pretty much every Pixar movie.

They do have individual robot and animal modes, just can't find em all
my only problem with this is that individually they'd all still be twice as big as Optimus and Megs based on the scale of this custom.
It's like someone translated the Dreamwave philosophy on combiners into custom toy form... instead of 6 times as big as a regular Transformer, they should inexplicably be 50 times as big!
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
09-10-2009, 07:12 PM
The combiners have always been a scale nightmare. Take Bruticus. We're supposed to believe a space shuttle (Blast Off) is the same size as an army jeep (Swindle)?
Best not to think about it!
haha, well yeah, but we had that problem with Astrotrain already. In robot mode he's the same size as Starscream. In shuttle mode, he can carry all the Decepticons through space!
It still bugs the shit out of me, though.

Took me 3 years but I finally tracked down a Cybertron Wing Saber for a fair price - 25 bucks. Was opened, but complete. For all the 80 dollar and up prices I've seen for it over the years, I really can't complain at all. The combined mode with Optimus is really cool, even if it is primarily a fancy backpack.
I'm 2 away from having all of that line now (both just minor repaints, really) barring Legends and the weird mini-con VS sets, which I don't really count. I'm sort of thinking about going ahead and finishing out the line, especially since I've had a huge drought in TF purchases this year. Will one or two more hurt that much? Doubt it.
One that I need, Ransack GTS, I actually like. Has some cool translucent green going on. There's one for 8.99 and 5.95 shipping I'm eyeing on ebay but...I'm not totally convinced. I doubt I'd ever get it for any lower though, not complete :(

I'm not even buying the DVD. I have no desire to ever see it again. I saw it 3 times at the theater. First time was the midnight showing, hoping it wasn't awful and that more actually happened than what I'd read from the movie novel synopsis - let me down on each of these, and also - the sound was bad. It all sounded as if it was in mono. I went again to see if the movie was really like that or if it was a mistake in the theater - it was kind of both. Also went to see if it really makes as little sense as I first thought - and yes, yes it did. The second time helped me solidify my opinions so I could give a fair review. Third time I was dragged into for some pseudo-family outing and it was just painful, I couldn't wait for it to be over. The horribly overlong Egyptian part just wouldn't fucking end :(

In this case, most fans won't care how he "fits" into ROTF, as he's straight up Classics Bludgeon regardless.
I just thought he was a Classics/Universe release until Peaugh opened his mouth. Sorry if you said it here, I wasn't paying attention if you did ;_;; That's when the question came to mind.

Not that I've seen.
Just saw the main two writers of the first live action movies aren't on board for the 3rd. I'd say - GOOD, but...the guy that's left is the dude that wrote Devastator balls into the second one. Bleh.

copy/pasta from my blog:
Worst Previews.com has posted what is essentially the first big rumor about the 3rd live action Transformers movie. Apparently, director Michael Bay and writer Ehren Kruger may be preparing to kill off Megan Fox's character early on in the film. It might be pure bullshit, but for now, let's treat it as true.
First of all, even though I have no attachment to Fox's character "Mikaela", killing off characters, especially in a "final" installment just feels weak to me. It's a go-to cliche, isn't it? The pressure is on for some big, memorable, dramatic moment, and 9 out of 10 times it seems that creators answer that with DEATH. Remember when that last Harry Potter book was about to be released, and the only question on anyone's lips was "WHO'S GONNA DIE?!" Of course, the author gave in and filled the pages with many a fatality. It's so played out, isn't it? Come on, Transformers movie guys, figure something else out.
However, many speculate the possible death of Mikaela is because of Fox's slights against Bay in the press. Even though she is not the first of Bay's actors to have a word or two against him, and ignoring that Bay has been known for his own bitingly negative mouth, tons of live action Transformer fanboys (many of whom credit Bay for all that is holy and good) now have a huge grudge against Fox. The common response to this rumor from those sorts has largely been along the lines of "YEAH, THAT'S WHAT SHE GETS!!!"
Come on. If killing Megan Fox off is just "revenge" for her not kissing Michael Bay's ass in interviews, eh, isn't that kind of goofy? The "YEAH, SCREW MEGAN FOX!!!" crowd are being equally silly, sorry to say. Surely, I can't be the only one that realizes..putting her in the movie = a pay day! How exactly does she lose when she walks away with a big check? Money in the bank and an incredibly easy job given the limited time on set 'cos she's just gonna croak anyway?! HA! HA! That'll show her!!!!
The only actual way to "get back" at Fox would be to have her completely recast or something to that effect. That'd be met with just as much "har har!" sentiment, I'm sure, but at least it wouldn't be a completely ridiculous way of sticking it to her. Personally, I'd hate that. Recasts in sequels stick out and take you out of the experience a bit, and given my thoughts about the oh-so easy plot device that is killing off a main character, I'd rather Mikaela just stick around in some capacity, but really, I say what the hell ever! At this stage, given how displeased I am with the Transformers films, I don't even know if I'm going to bother seeing the third one, so it might not effect me regardless of what they decide.
I am so beyond caring. I'd say YAY KILL HER STUPID ASS, but I'd really only be happy if Shia and the entire movie franchise (sans certain toy molds) died. :p
Lunchbox McGillicuddy

I don't care if they kill her off as long as it's not for some dumb ass reason, and I can't really think of any that aren't. It's either "kill her off to spite the actress" or "kill the character for some easy-way-out drama"
Look at me, still hoping for some kind of quality standard with these movies :(
Yeah, unless there is a massively phenomenal change in the direction and quality of the franchise, there is nothing that can be done to get me back on board. Bay's still associated, so that's not going to happen.
Such is life. Let it be.
Any news on the new animated series?

Nope. With ROTF toys still scheduled into next year (I think that leader Starscream is set for...fall?) I doubt there will be an announcement until a few months, maybe more.
When I saw the Mudflap repaint that Peaugh reviewed/is selling, I was surprised. I have no idea why I was surprised that they'd be pumping out repaints, but I was.

Hilarious. This is the exact type of opinion that many of them completely shun whenever someone is against any of the movie stuff in any way. They play the "HAHA DUMB GEEWUNNER, YOU CAN'T ACCEPT CHANGE" card and dismiss them.
I've come to feel it's really ridiculous how far people go with this stuff, actually insulting others because they don't have the same taste in fucking toys.
That's probably why I don't actually post at TFW. Not sure I want to get into fisticuffs over TFs. I'll take you to the mat over games in a heartbeat, though :p

The worst part of TFW is the movie forum, but otherwise it doesn't get too bad. Moderators tend to keep things civil for the most part. The real horror show for me are the TF threads on /toy/ on 4chan. I'm not sure what the other TF sites are like. I can't keep up with that shit. These days every other Transformer fan has his own website, podcast, related video channel (guilty), blog (guilty), etc :o
I'm all for goofy so bad-it's-good popcorn movies, honestly, but I love Transformers so much I wish that wasn't the caliber of it's big time mainstream films. I know I probably seem overly hard on ROTF but I saw it three times and the last time I was literally squirming in my seat. Just couldn't enjoy it :(
You saw it three times :o

The first time I couldn't really hear it - I went a second to see if it was really like that or if it was just the theater failing. I think the first time they were playing the thing in mono or something. I figured I couldn't make a fair assessment of the movie with a whole bunch of the dialogue still unknown to me.
The third time was some family outing I got dragged to, not my choice :p

The first tidbit about the next show has been given - although it's nothing more than "Transformers are returning to TV in 2010", but it's from Hasbro's CEO, so at least it's somewhat official.
That *could* just mean Animated reruns, really, but apparently there's some "Hasbro Investor Day" event on November 5th where more information might be given.
If it is some amazing new series, a 2010 debut means in a year's time it'll be gone to make room for TF3 shit in store shelves :o

I wish they just could've put Animated on hiatus for 6-12 months. There were almost always still animated toys at my toy stores anyway, so I don't understand the cancellation at all.

ROTF DVD has a bunch of design sketches and there's a lot of weird shit on it. Soundwave with four legs, Jetfire with a dinosaur skull for a face...just truly bizarre things.
I like how they have pictures of the classic design there as if it has anything to do with the rest of the page. It's probably there so Bay could see how much better their version is or something :o
Lawl:
Were the twins originally the triplets?
And here's some crazy Bumblebee stuff.

Is a toy line similar in concept to Classics and Universe 2.0 - classic characters in updated bodies - going to be released next Fall?
Yeah, everything that isn’t movie, should fit in to that kind of area that we’re now calling Universe. So anything that doesn’t quite fit in movie, so whether it be Beast Wars, or re-imagining of , you know, Bluestreak or something, a favorite, will be in that kind of line. So we are going to do new updates.
So, classic characters in updated bodies?
How many of those, I can’t really get into, but that’s something we know works for the fans, that kinda complete that new style – expression – and we’re happy to do that. We love to bring back old characters that you wouldn’t have thought we’d redo. It’s kinda a fun little designer challenge now going on. Mirage, he’s out.
Release date next fall?
I think mostly next fall is when you’ll see more of that.
This is from an interview with Aaron Archer, so at least it's good to get some more solid confirmation. Since they toys take a year to make I guess the line is already being developed.
Glad to hear they're still not making everything movie based. Probably won't be buying it, but it still warms my heart.

I just hope if they are G1 characters they'll fit in with the Classics/Universe stuff we already have. Universe was already kind of different from Classics, but no so much that it was too far to fit, but something even further removed might not be so hot.

This is fun, ROTF kill counts:
* Optimus Prime: Three kills; Demolishor, Grindor and The Fallen
* Jetfire: Two kills; Mixmaster and Scorponok
* Sideswipe: One kill; Sideways
* Megatron: One kill (Unless you count the dozen human soldiers he killed); Optimus Prime
* Bumblebee: Two kills; Ravage and Rampage
* US army: Four kills; Long Haul, Scrapper, the Bonecrusher look-alike and Devastator (If you count each of the Constructicons along with Devastator, that makes 11 kills) plus numerous Decepticon protoforms
* Mikaela: One kill; Alice
* Sam: One kill; An Insecticon.
* Note: Megatron is tied with Sam and Mikaela.
PS Lego men can ride Classics Hound :D
:fabulousbatman:
It's cool that they are doing a red Ravage, FINALLY. I don't see myself buying him, though. I avoid toy sections these days so I won't be forced to buy the ice cream twins.
