Neg
11-04-2009, 06:21 PM
I did, but they did a classics Ravage who came with Universe Hound. Did you mean you want a stand-alone, larger classics Ravage? I thought perhaps you were saying that they aren't making such a figure because they are focusing on Bayformers, which is probably somewhat true, but not out of the question since the line is coming back.

I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
11-04-2009, 07:32 PM
You seem to have called movie Rampage "Ravage", Neg. I guess that's where the confusion began?

But...on the new subject: the new Japanese USB Device Label Ravage actually pops up with English instructions, has Hasbro copyrights, and some of the info calls him "Ravage" directly, I think when you plug it in, which is interesting because that's not his name in Japan at all. So, now there's a buzz that it may have an intended Hasbro release.

He looks great with the mp3 Soundwave:

Interesting tie to this if Hasbro does want to release that Ravage, this prototype just showed up:

For now, it could just be one of those fan-made products, but it could just as well be a Hasbro mold. The overall style reminds me a lot of the basics/scouts for Energon and Cybertron.

There was apparently some rumor about a Soundwave for Universe 3 floating around a few days ago as well but I don't know how solid it is.

TK
11-04-2009, 07:50 PM
I did, but they did a classics Ravage who came with Universe Hound.

Neg

Ah. I don't watch Peaugh videos much.

I wouldn't say he named it. If Hasbro released a purple truck and someone joked that he's "Optimus Jr" and then it later got an official repaint as Optimus, does that mean that person named the toy?

A few days ago everyone was like OMG ITS SPOONZ OYEH when the pictures of that surfaced. They all named it too :D

Neg
11-07-2009, 05:51 AM
Well the V-man did it well before "a few days ago." Still, even though I just said that, I'm not trying to be like VANGELUS TOTALLY IS THE CAUSE OF THIS. Just being cheeky, giving him some lovin' for the cool coincidence.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy

Yeah, I'm just saying it wasn't some left field thing. He called a forklift by the name of an existing forklift character, and it's one Hasbro had the rights to since they own Gobots, and there's been several Gobots references in modern Transformer lines anyway. If the mold had been a Ferrari or something else unrelated that he called Spoons I'd be more impressed by it.

Neg

ROTF DVD has a bunch of design sketches and there's a lot of weird shit on it. Soundwave with four legs, Jetfire with a dinosaur skull for a face...just truly bizarre things.

I like how they have pictures of the classic design there as if it has anything to do with the rest of the page. It's probably there so Bay could see how much better their version is or something :o

Lawl:

Were the twins originally the triplets?

And here's some crazy Bumblebee stuff.

Heh. The "kitty face" sort of works in that it's at least less horrifying than what they settled on later. He actually looks like he could be a good guy. What a crazy idea.

Oh my god THAT'S why I have 2 Robotech robots that have transformers stickers on them, they just re-used the mold and put the transformers logo on it. I guess they figured that if the original Jetfire was a knock off of a veritech then movie Jetfire should be a knock off of Eva unit 01.

The kitty battle mode Bumble Bee could be movie Cheetor and the hornet battle mode could be movie Waspinator.

Whenever I talk to kids about anything we have in common, like say TF, Pokemon, Resident Evil (yes, parents let 5-10 year olds play RE. They know the details, they pass the test), etc., they usually adapt their opinion to mine. It's a pretty common phenomenon. The easiest example in actual school vernacular is called "blessing the book." If you read a book to kids, or you tell them that you're reading a particular book, they will want to read it and generally be excited about it.

In this specific case, they are so excited that an adult likes something they do, that they'll bend their opinions accordingly, to be more like you.

Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen

*The designs are too busy and its hard to tell whats going on in a lot of the scenes. More moving parts does not equal more range of emotion; see Wall.E, R2, & 3PO.

*The Autobots where more violent and cruel then the Decepticons.

*The decepticon excavator & sportcar wasnt doing anything evil, just hiding but they were hunted down and killed anyway.

*Dogs humping, twice!

*Shia Laboofs parents butt slapping and his mother going on a reefer binge.

*Why is it that whenever the Allspark brings something to life its always Evil and murderous?

*Why is Bumble Bees voice broke again? They reattached his legs but cant give him a new voice box?

*Why is there so much military stuff in this? Its a big cock tease. Oh a chopper, youre gonna transform right? No well the boat and fighter jet must be robots cuz I saw there toys last time I was at target so not them either? Oh well.

*The army guys take up a lot of screen time but you really cant care much about them when the 2 from the last movie barely had 20 lines between them.

*Walls filled with sacks of dead robot babies.

*Shia and Bumble Bee are the only ones that showed any feelings about Optimus Prime dying. None if the other Autobots seemed too upset and youd think Megatron would be at least a little pleased with himself.

*The first Allspark shard the army had and was stolen by Ravage which the Deceptacons used to bring back Megatron. Megan Fox had the 2nd shard that Shia gave to her and that was used to bring Jetfire back to life. Why didnt they just use that to revive Optimus instead of going all the way to Egypt?

*Herp & Durp. I first saw them in promo pics and toys and liked the design of them., then I found out about them combining into a pink ice cream truck and seeing as how thats so damn cool bought the toy when it came out. Children were still talking at the beginning and I thought I heard Steve Buscemis voice and got all excited, maybe Peter Stormare voices the other twin?
What the hell? They dont do much reading? Did they just say pussy?
The worst thing about them is the fact that when the movie was over all the children were imitating them.

*Whats with the guy with bad teeth?

*With all the sexual content that was stuffed in why are the fembots these weird snake thingies and not sexy robots?

*I did not need to see John Turturro in a thong.

*Wheelie humping Megan Fox. I felt sullied and unusual, there was a 6 year old girl setting in front of me.

*Devastator. I kinda like the Rancor/Kirby form but it couldnt stand up and was killed by Herp & Durp JarJaring there way around him and getting shot by a boat. Lame.

*The bump truck, cement mixer, and bulldozer who at the time were formed as part of Devastator were also chasing Shia in the village.

*The excavator was killed at the beginning of the movie but was alive again in the devastator scenes.

*The helicopter was killed in the first movie but wasnt brought back to life with Megatron but he was there with Megaton & Starscreem at the forest and got he face ripped off. He was alive again in the village fight.

*What happened to the policecar from the first movie?

*Why didnt the old primes just kill the fallen?

*Shia labuoof just died and went to robot heaven.

*Alright Prime vs. Megatron & The Fallen this should be its over.

A lot of those plot-based points are my exact feelings. Yay.

The "why didn't they use the shard to revive Optimus" debate rages on. I was just posting in another discussion about that today at TFW. There are many apologists for the movie, of course, so no "victory" is ever had, it's just two stubborn camps bitching at each other :D

Me too TK

I found mah post

To be fair, at the time they didn't know what was going to happen with the Shard (and certainly weren't aware it could have revived Optimus)

That is if we assume that important information is not shared with relevant parties in the middle of a war. Lame for us to have to accept something like that.

It should have been clear to the Autobots that the original shard was stolen, and that it was used to revive Megatron. You can argue "they might not have known it was the shard..." but damn, the shard being stolen at all is huge, relevant info they should have absolutely been told about. For the second shard - Bumblebee would have clearly known about Sam's shard given that he fought off a whole kitchen brought to life by it, and he should have shared that information with Optimus and the others.

Say they had all appropriately known what the hell was going on, later on...the Autobots that for soooome reason showed up incredibly late to the battle against Megs, Scream, and Grindor (even though they were all initially traveling *with* Optimus) should have been able to step in and get Sam to use the damn shard on Optimus. You can say "but it wouldn't be enough! Optimus was stabbed through the back, oh no!" based on what happened with Megatron's revival, but Megatron's injuries were very substantial as well, he was blown to shit by an air strike, and had his spark fried just as much or worse than Optimus' was. If you think the difference was Megatron "needing parts" from the Constructicon - consider that there just happened to be the dead ass Grindor laying around with plenty of parts the likes of Ratchet probably could have pulled from if Optimus needed anything extra.

It also really irks me that they only sent the damn twins to help Bumblebee protect the kids after this part of the movie rather than able warriors like Sideswipe or Ironhide, but that's another subject.

Now, with things actually working well and efficiently like that, maybe you'd have no movie, and the "Drama" of Optimus dying wouldn't be there, and most movies have moments where the logical step doesn't quite pan out, but man, it's really hard for me to accept the Autobots operating in such a clueless manner. There's really no reason they shouldn't have known all about what was going on at that point. The whole "revive this robot so you can revive another robot that you could've revived to begin with" circular plot element really is ridiculous - especially considering what they dug up to use on Optimus happened to be a very dangerous object that could've finally enabled the Fallen to blow the solar system to shit.

TK - For some reason in this universe, if the allspark touches random objects, it turns them into evil Transformers. A little sliver of the allspark from the first movie hit the Witwicky kitchen floor or something, and everything in it turned into little gremlin robots. Toasters, garbage disposals, microwaves, who the fuck knows. It was a goofy little side-scene thrown in just to give Bumblebee a grand entrance, since he has to swoop in and save the family and house from getting totally fucked up by the little kitchen-bots.

Get this though. Sam is screaming for Bumblebee's help when they're attacking. After he comes in and kills the living fuck out of them, Sam starts bitching at him, tells him to go away, and then basically tells him "FUCK YOU I'M NOT TAKING YOU WITH ME TO COLLEGE. I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE EVEN THOUGH YOU JUST HAD TO SAVE MY LIFE TWO SECONDS AGO!!!! I RESENT MY COOL TRANSFORMING CAR!"

It makes so much sense. It really, really does.

The world has gone upside down and topsy-turvy :( :( :(

Ejector is a cool toy, a tiny speck of good came from fighting a kitchen. tiny .

I love that guy! Did any of you notice the fact that all his stats are around 1-3 but his courage is all the way to 10? Someone at hasbro was having some fun. And then there's his alternate Mamimi's core-puppy and baby dino forms as well and you've got a cheap robot with 4 forms good articulation the option to have 2 or 4 arms and a working mouth.

To me I think it's that when a comment only says something like "You mispronounced ----", highlighting one screw up out of 10 minutes of talking, that can feel pretty bad, as if that person found absolutely nothing of merit and could only laugh at the mistakes or something.

I doubt everyone takes corrections harshly, but there are so many out there that seem to only pop up to tell you what's wrong with a video rather than anything else, and it's not the best feeling.

It gets hilariously painful when your talking about history, philosophy, or mythology about story lines or characters. Take that guy who thinks he's V for Vendetta and talks about Eva, he often points out things that I would never have considered and I pretty much agree with most of what he says but he seems to have quite a bit of content for me :(

Not for me, the nearest TRU is 2 1/2 hours away. As for the targets they take forever to get exclusives in and once they do generally clearance them after only 3 weeks so if I do find something it's probably at least half off ($20 for a war painted Rancor).

TRU always has their stuff online if you can't get to a store

I've never seen a Target exclusive make it as far as clearance, they sell out in the first week or so here. This stuff is always varied from place to place.

I never had a close TRU but I had 2 KB Toys the first of which closed when I was about 5ish but the 2nd which was about 30 min. away was still open and when I was 10 a KB Toy liquidators opened up in a new strip mall and that was epic. Tons of old figures you couldn't get anymore in bins for 2 for 10, 3 for 10, and even 5 for 10. But the 2nd KBT closed down in 2004 ish and at the time I still didn't have a drivers licence and no one would take me to the closing sale. Having no need to got to that particular area for a while I decided to make a quick pit stop at the strip mall only to find that Toy Liquidators had also shut down, and it had been recent seeing as how there were still about 6 bins you could barly see in the blacked windows still full of various goods.

Do you get the plu and ask people to check for them with their scantrons at Target? A lot of times stuff like exclusives get sent months early with a "don't push till x date" note, and it gets backstocked and forgotten about if it isn't in a planogram.

Your generosity is only eclipsed by the heart which is resides in, Ndi but we'll manage some how. And if you did get that much money I'd rather see you buy things for poor children instead of man/boys on the Internet becouse then those kids will just grow up without having any of these things and when they get jobs of there own they'll just spend any extra money on the toys they didn't have as children.
On second thought maybe we should change things around a bit; children should be sent to work because they have unlimited energy and adults can spend all bay playing with toys. Most adults are more gentle with toys than kids and the way the market is now most kids would rather have phones, Ipods, portable DVD's, laptops, & the like than action figures and the really good toys i.e. Revoltch, Figma, Neca, & McFarlane a few years ago are for "mature" collectors.

If only I had time anymore. I'm always at the damn hospital. Grandpa went in two weeks ago. Got to rehab Wednesday, thought he was going to be ok (hence having time for the Black Friday video) but he ended up right back at the medical center Friday night. I don't mind helping out by being around but it's getting to where I'm being told I have to be there at this time or that and it's really a chore. Was there about 20 hours (with no sleep of course) from Sunday thru this morning and I couldn't sleep after leaving because he left me with a long list of things I had to do ASAP. Aside from being there, there's tons of things that have to be done over at the grandparent's house now that he's not there and a lot of the way I'm being made to do things are so fucking backwards. Bah. I have to dog-sit 5 dogs for my cousin this week as well, 5 incredibly bad dogs that don't want to cooperate, and I have to go over there 3 times a day according to his wishes. My mom is coming home for the holidays and I'm supposed to handle the arrangements for that but she won't tell me much, she just says she doesn't know, she doesn't know about every question I need to ask.

I could really get into a big whine about things but I know in the grand scheme it isn't so bad. I'm just pissed that no one cares that I do have my own things I legitimately need to do at home, not just dumb Youtube shit or whatever, and my own dog to take care of, but ah well. Maybe this will get easier to juggle soon.

I understand that kind of stuff. I went through it when my grandmother was in hospice and then when my grandfather was in the hospital and I had to stay there basically the whole time with him because my aunt decided she wanted to go on vacation all summer while her mother was dying and her father was in the hospital.

Remember the hospital week? Oh, I was a JOY that week. Still, that wasn't as bad as the week after my grandmother finally died. I was a BALL OF COMPASSION.

It's pretty interesting that this topic came up because of Empty. I actually took to yelling at the top of my lungs while driving during that period. It fucked my throat up. It's great to hear him yell in much the same way. Saves my throat the trouble :)

Well when I'm overrunned I usually make sure I just do whatever is most important that only I can accomplish and squeeze anything else in after that, I'm bound to fail at something so it might as well be something I don't care about or don't like doing or are not that good at.

Yes, this news is a couple days old, but no one has commented on it yet, so I'm posting about it.

For anyone who doesn't know, Peter Cullen was the original voice of Optimus way back in the Generation 1 era. He will be returning to the role in the new movie due out next summer. This has actually sparked a minute bit of hope in me that the movie may not suck completely. I realize that hope will likely be crushed though.

I'm very interested! I would love to find out more.

Still, playing as a group of 6 with them individually, and then coming up with a system where input is weighed based on response time and the like while as Devastator could be cool as hell.

It'd make a lot more sense in gestalts like Menasor, though, where the personalities CLASH LIKE MAD.

I just like how it really doesn't make sense for him to be so much smaller. Animators were often too toy-accurate with the vehicles. I know there are shots of Cliffjumper's car being smaller than Jazz's and other things like that.

Still not final, waiting for painted images. It costs around 80 bucks, bleh, so I won't be owning it. I like the robot mode for the most part, legs look a little too hollow from the side though, and I still think the tank/car mode is a bit too abstract.

Hmm. So, everything for the next few years outside of the movies is related to this game's story perhaps?

I'm surprised there's such a big focus on "Cybertronian" designs since Hasbro's mantra for TFs has been REALISTIC ALT MODES, WE WANT TO KEEP THE REALISTIC ALT MODES YEAHHHHH for the last few years

OK SERIOUS OPINION TIME

OP ALT MODE looks kind of weird but I guess CYBERTRONIAN makes that ok right?

OP BOT MODE looks like they finally ended the TRUCK vs MUNKY debate and made him BOTH. Looks too beefy IN MY OPINION. But other than that its a pretty nice design. Maybe. Looks better than what we have seen for a while. (Hello movie op)

MEGS ALT MODE hilarious space tank boat

MEGS BOT MODE more like attack of killer triangle man

also i dont think the designs are bad really

just different

TK
12-20-2009, 12:29 PM
I don't think they're bad either, but they definitely don't get me excited at all. I don't like the excessively dark pallet used in the art and there's just nothing about it to make me interested. Which is nice because I think I'd rather just not care so I don't have to even worry about spending money on it.

In much sillier and nitpickier news, I don't like that Optimus has a Megatron gun.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
12-20-2009, 09:22 PM
I thought his Megatron cannon was weird too. Since the date on the drawing is so old he might not have kept that, he seems to just be rocking an axe in the trailer.

The BOTH MUNKY AND TRUK thing is not far off since the design is pretty close to "Transtech" Optimus, the canned post-BM line, where "Monkey Truck" was the exact school of thought. That + War Within pretty much equals this thing:

I like the designs but I'm not wowed by them. I'm just glad it's not a pure movie-style only thing, which is what I feared would happen with the franchise.

As for the game, I have no reason to care yet until I could actually play it, still don't have any of the fancy new consoles.

Yeah the legs on that starscream are horrible. there are some good elements to the design too but I definitely don't like the face, it's movie aesthetic seeping in and that bothers me in principle as well as just visually. I don't know, I have a feeling I'm pretty done with transformers, which is ok because I'm trying to cut all unnecessary spending out of my life anyway.

But damn man, that Bumblebee. Looks like a really solid design. I'll hold off until I see the legs though, seems a few of these have WaCkYlEgS. LEGS LOOK FINE I AM GETTING EXCITED.

Still, Bumblebee is short, stocky and his vehicle mode is reminiscent of a VW Beetle. I really want this to be good 'bee is one of my favourite characters <3

A few screens I found interesting when I slowed the trailer down.

A blurry picture of Ratchet who seems to have his EMP thingo from animated. Also Bee's legs.

Boring STANDARD Autobots. I guess these guys are the standard fodder. Optimus and Omega also pictured.

Slightly clearer shot of Ratchet doing his thang. BUMBLEBEES STINGERS FROM TF:A?

Nice solid legs there 'bee, can I buy you a drink. :swoon:

Megatron with random Autobot, Starscream and what looks like a constructicon in the corner.

Same picture Ktulu posted. Now smaller and grainier! Who is that behind soundwave? Probably Decepticon fodder. Maybe not though.

Interesting giant statue. Kinda looks like prime. Isn't prime.

Omega supreme kicking butt. Statue looking distinctly different to Optimus.

Ratchet, Bumblebee and a bot I couldn't identify but I am now pretty sure he is just a fodder robot. Look at the three bars of light on his shoulder.

THATS EVERYTHING I NOTICED

EDIT

CYBERTRON CAN TRANSFORM ITSELF

That robot has G2 Skyjack's face. Interesting, considering that Hasbro has the name Sky"fall" registered, and just released a version of the character for Universe as a Silverbolt repaint. Maybe the 'Green' is really grey?

Although, I guess it could just be an angular take on Long Haul's face too.

I guess if it turns out this is based on the next series or something I'll give some thought to whether I care at all about it. Soundwave looks kinda cool from that one pic. Don't especially dig the other designs.
