I always wondered what major Earth-centric thing that'd been hidden around or near here but ignored the first two movies would drive this one's plot. Yeah. That's not getting silly at all.
It sounds lame to me. Surprise. I'm probably really biased though.

Hasbro panel is going on now. Although it seemed obvious with their remaining peg space - Generations will indeed run throughout the rest of the year. The hard to find RtS stuff "will find a way to retail" as well. IMO - Throw those toys into DOTM packaging and offer it to Wal Mart or Target as an exclusive and you know they'd order tons.

Wheeljack is getting a toy as well, so the guys with smaller roles will be represented.

Fuck son, that's half off!
I've only opened Roadbuster, so far. He's a bit meh. Transformation is fun, but so much of the bot mode is unpainted and just sad because of it. Suffers from Twins Back Syndrome. A better color than white should have been used on it because it makes it more panel-y than it really is. Plus the paint is a bit chewed up (especially the white). Oh American toys~
Backfire has behind-the-knee kibble :mad::mad::mad:
But, much like Ratchet, I still like him as a static piece. Just has that TRY TO MOVE ME look. They easily could have given him two back wheels that fold up on the sides of his legs.
Hear you me, Hasbro, aesthetics do not justify bad engineering and I will not stand for it, even if I like two figures suffering from it

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb1/ConstantMnemonic/shakefist.gif
So yeah, I like the look of his bot mode, like his alt mode pretty much wholesale (even if I'm not sure it would actually drive), and I love his weapon mode. If there's a Backfire at the store I finally find Ironhide in, he's probably going to get to dual wield. Because I'm crazy, and I like the idea of Ironhide & the Backfire brothers.

He's pretty great except for the poorly locking chest. The car roof is supposed to hold it all together, but it's iffy.
I do remember BaltMatrix bitching about that. But, it was THERE. Two of them were RIGHT THERE. I'll like it. It's Jazz.
I probably do have the memory of you saying you got one somewhere in back of my head.
.....holy shit Peaugh is acting like he's fucking drunk XD
Back on topic. Yeah, I probably would have remembered that if I wasn't so tweeked up and excited about work being done. Only went down hill from there when I found the Mega Blade and was like I'm SPENDING MONEY LET'S DO THIS SHIT.
I've been futzing around with Roadbuster most of the day. Besides the paint he's pretty okay. I'm liking him more for whatever reason. Maybe because he's a stock car, even though I don't actually like Nascar and really hate its fans. I dunno. Thumbs up for robo mullet. The human alliance version looks like it's wrecked, which is appropriate! I don't want it.
I'M TALKING RANDOMLY. RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE
Holy crap on a stick Botcon Motormaster is epic ;; Of course, I'm biased, considering how much I like the G1. Best repaint/remold of Animated Prime I've seen.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-12-2011, 05:28 AM
Yeah, Motormaster looks awesome. Luckily, it looks like the resell value on this year's Botcon stuff is pretty low, so as soon as I get a heap of cash I'm going to hunt 'em down.
I'd buy Roadbuster for the AMP logo too, really. He has decent looking proportions, a fairly normal head, actual colors, etc. Pretty far removed from some of the other movie designs thus far.
I'm the type of guy to find the positives, so the Jazz chest issue doesn't even bother me, it's just something of note. Some people claim the roof trick totally solves it but I haven't gotten it to work on mine.
I might inquire about this roof trick, if I can't work it out, myself. Opened Laserbeak. Stunning. I doubt getting him in hand would change anyone's mind who disliked him on sight, but if you can dig what he is he's a fantastic purchase. I expected him to be Ejector's size for whatever reason, so he's kinda big to me and this makes for even better times.
I'm not sure how much overlap there is in the Venn diagram of Skarmory and S.I.C. fans, but for those people I would suggest finding something hard to put in your mouth, such that you don't bite your tongue off in excitement.

The 10 dollar human alliance guys are the ones with weapon modes, and they can clip onto or be held by the larger "MechTech" figures (deluxe, voyager, leader)

The Autobot symbol pattern on the wings is a neat idea though. Still, second time "Strafe" has been a redeco of a Decepticon that looks nothing like him in a fairly short amount of time. Really weird.
Speaking of RtS voyagers - went to Ross again and spotted the Seaspray repaint, meaning...other cool shit might have made it there as well. If GrappEls and Windchargers were stocked as well, someone else got 'em.
Hadn't seen the wings very well til just now. Pretty bitchin'. The blades kinda harken back to his yellow tip-thingees. Plus, I did always kinda want a Mindwipe, back inside the crevices of my mind. Cyclonus repaint was indeed derptastic.

Have you looked up the prescriptions themselves? One of mine has it's own program which covers all but $14 of it through the company itself. Or something like that. All I know is I have to call a bunch of people to ensure I get the stuff refilled and paid for.

I have. There's a discount program with the manufacturer that can save me about $110 a month, the problem is it's when i pay outside of Kaiser, where my insurance is through. The financial help I applied for could cover everything, including reembursments, but not premiums, but I would have to pay through the Kaiser pharmacy. It's a gamble either way.

ROTF is terrible. I dont wanna buy it on blu-ray :(
But Bay has promised he's changed his ways since that movie and says DOTM will be different.
There's no twins (thank god).
I've been watching the trailers popup and liking them.
60% of the movie is filmed in 3D with an additional 15% in CG-3D.
I think those were the numbers.
Even James Cameron likes what Bay did with the 3D.
I don't think I'm going opening night though.
And certainly not IMAX 3D, just RealD for me.
I don't know if our IMAX theater here is legit or just some crap with a sticker on the side :erm:
Plus if it's over 2 hours, Im so not going to IMAX (I want the 3D magic to last longer)

Arcee dying would have been ok if they'd given some characterization to make that death feel like anything more than "oh." Isn't it just done in a really quick shot with little weight at all? (lolol didn't I just describe every scene?)

Yeah, ROTF had too many fast scenes in there.
The action in ROTF really makes me think of a shooting range with cardboard cutouts of robots popping up everywhere and going down as quickly as they popped up.
The only slow deaths were Ravage and the Fallen leader (which looks exactly like the terminator's death in T:Salvation with the decapitation).

TFW2005 DotM review. Sounds pretty solid.
I had the opportunity to attend an advance screening of Transformers Dark of the Moon last night in Toronto thanks to the fine folks at Paramount. While I will keep the front page here spoiler free I do want everyone to know it is so much better than Revenge of the Fallen and worth seeing in 3D. I came out of ROTF disappointed with so many aspects of that film, to the degree that it gave me a long lasting disinterest in Transformers collecting after 10 years. DOTM made me care about the Movieverse again. It was a solid movie. Not because it was about Transformers, but because it was well done. Read on for a quick review by clicking the title bar.
The first Transformers movie left a feeling of awe for many of us in seeing our childhood brought to life in the live action movie environment. The sequel disappointed alot of people including myself. This third film in the trilogy does a great job of finishing the story in a way that left me satisfied.
One of the things that jumped out at me while I was watching Dark of the Moon was the contrasts in some of the aspects of this film and Revenge of the Fallen. Take Sam's new love interest Carly for example. Her personality is so much more positive than Mikaela was, and I thought it helped reflect a change in the direction of this movie. (It doesn't hurt that she is better looking, sorry Brad) The new human characters had excellent character development, and the inclusion of Buzz Aldrin, JFK and Nixon into the film was a nice touch. Patrick Dempsey's character was a good plot twist; come on, you know no one is that nice unless they want something from you. Sam's parents once again had some well delivered one liners that will make you laugh out loud. John Malkovich's character steals the scene in his introduction. Former Agent Seymour Simmons's charcter wasn't as annoying this time around, and Frances McDormand was believable as the Secretary of Defence. Alan Tudyk was great, he delivered some great scenes. Shia LaBeouf once again did a good job keeping us involved in the story.
Leonard Nimoy was a great casting voice for Sentinel Prime. His distinctive voice returning to the Transformers franchise after 25 years was great timing and felt right.
If you want to remain spoiler free stop reading now.
There is no Silverbolt. If there is he is a background character that has no impact in the film.
Barricade is back! He is clearly fighting along with the Decepticon invasion.
There are no twins. Thank god. Skids and Mudflap are no where to be found.
Q went out like a bitch.
The Wreckers were decent.
Ironhide had a flash back to 2005.
Optimus Prime's final battle with Megatron was even better than last time. And seeing his trailer on screen made me feel like a kid again for a second.
The Decepticons were brutal in their assault of the humans, executing them as they run for their lives.
Shockwave should have had more character development or lines. Only Boba Fett can get away with just standing there and being the fan favorite villian. Although his snakes were cool.
The CGI was amazing; at no point did I think, wow, that looks fake.
Plot wise we are looking at the combination of elements from 2 G1 episodes: Megatron's Master Plan where the Autobots are exiled from Earth and primarily The Ultimate Doom where the Deceticons use space bridge technology to try and bring Cybertron to Earth. I'm not going to tell you how the entire movie plays out but I have a feeling Ehren Kruger took inspiration from G1.
If you don't take anything else from this article let me tell you this. I'm a G1 collector, and lost interest in anything movie related following ROTF. You owe it to yourself to see this movie, in 3D. I still have a grin on my face today. 9/10.

As for the movie - I don't know if I want to say anything. I'm toying with whether or not I'll give it another chance. Indeed. Like I felt with ROTF, the plot doesn't gel super well with the other movies. There's that little issue, and related to that, some major TF technology comes into the picture as if from nowhere and it just happened to be lost on/near the Earth. There's ALWAYS been the most giant of giant plans concerning this - even though it was never mentioned before. Again.
Remember Megatron being brought back to life with an allspark shard and some spare Constructicon parts? Interesting seeing as DOTM explicitly tells us the only thing that can restore their sparks is the matrix.
I think Film Brain mentioned that problem with Meg's resurrection, too. Must have been said in one form or another in the original or ROTF.
Or he used simple logic to ferret it out of what is said therein.
I don't think I watched the original besides in the threatre. I think that's what they were banking on. People not trying to follow the plot.

Sentinel Prime is featured pretty heavily in the War for Cyberton video game. In that continuity or whatever, he's Optimus's predecessor (where Optimus plays a reluctant leader, as if he helped win the original war against Megatron or something, but didn't actually want to be the leader of the Autobots; the game also covers the origin of The Matrix in that continuity and the reason for why everyone is bailing the fuck off of Cybertron). I think Bay just liked the concept and borrowed it without bothering to tie the backstory together properly.
I played the game. Didn't really pay attention to the story.
All I remember is DARK ENERGON, BLAH BLAH, DARK ENERGON.
How close is Cybertron to earth that the ship ended up on our moon after being shot down inside Cybertron's atmosphere?
Fanservice. I need robots, not ass.
Optimus says "In the year since we arrived..." but Shia has started and finished college in that time?
Shia getting all self-righteous about being a hero REALLY pissed me off. Fuck you Shia, you stuck a cube in someone's chest. Then you stuck a cybernetic dildo in someone else's.
They said "Operation in the middle east." Chernobyl is in Ukraine/Russia. Does that count as the middle east? I'm honestly asking. Not exactly A#1 Geography buff.
Shia bitches about Bumblebee never seeing him. WHAT ABOUT WHEN YOU SAID YOU WEREN'T TAKING HIM TO COLLEGE, FUCK HEAD.
Holy fuck was that Ankor Wat?!?!? Mad Illusion of Gaia rep if it was.
I hate that John Tuturro makes me laugh. I fucking hate myself for it.

I wish they'd have used some of those crazy stereotypical voices for a Decepticon or two, for variety. When the Decepticons are talking to each other it's unintentionally hilarious since they all have 12-pack-a-day voices

Since all they do is look after their ship, it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense for them to have those car modes at all. If that's their function on Earth, wouldn't they be construction vehicles or some shit? I don't know. None of it makes sense. They're the movie-verse Wreckers, they're the tough guys - but they get to sit around a base working on a ship. What?
There are way too many instances where I was wondering why someone or even a group just gave up. Early on, Shockwave shows up - dramatically, sees Optimus, and the next shot we see is the driller's tendrils slithering away. WOO, CHILLS. Laserbeak just stops chasing Sam at his new job because what...he hit a file cabinet? The Wreckers fire on Shockwave and just...stop. Optimus gets hung up in some wires, and despite having bladed weapons and god-damn wings to fly away with, he doesn't even try to cut himself down. The other Autobots apparently let themselves get captured without a fight. Would have been nice to see how that even happened. Starscream gets a bomb that takes forever to explode stuck in his eye - and doesn't just pull it out. Sentinel yells at Megatron, and despite Megatron obviously being able to beat the shit out of him, he just goes to sulk in the alley.
Man. I really think they're portrayed awfully.
I couldn't make a whole lot of sense of how Laserbeak bought it. I saw his head come off, but not how it happened. Did Sam pull it off? Fucking lawl if so
WHY AM I FUCKING WATCHING SHIA AND CO. FALL AROUND A BUILDING WHEN I COULD BE WATCHING OPTIMUS GET HIS TRAILER BACK.

I think Bumblebee shot Laserbeak. MAYBE HE DIDN'T SLOW DOWN THE ACTION AS MUCH AS I THOUGHT.

You ninja'd while I was adding more, I think.
I don't recall that. I have to watch it again :(
Some of the action was indeed a bit easier to follow, but it wasn't a 100 percent improvement. A lot of the time I wondered if the projectionist was off, because there seemed to be some bits where they didn't fit the frame very well. I noticed another shot where fighting was going on in the background, and all you really saw was Bumblebee's legs.
Shockwave was so much wasted potential. Yeah, okay, you got your spacebridge, you brought in Shockwave. 1 + 1 = 2.
But then he didn't do much of ANYTHING. Pops up at Chernobyl, has his penis euphemism wreck that building (hello 15 minutes we didn't fucking need), and then gets shot in the eye and sliced by Optimus. Whoopty dan do.

I can always use the excuse that I was tired and had a headache, both true at the time, but yeah, things should have made more sense. People aren't even sure of what happened to Cybertron. Did it go boom, or did it simply not warp?
One of the go-to arguments for these is "what did you expect? it's just a popcorn movie!" In that case, it ought to be easy enough to make all the why's/how's/what's clear at some basic level
Spoony made a fair point, which I noticed in a completely different way. Said Bay was exploiting tragedies. 9-11, The Challenger Explosion, Chernobyl.
Shia's little I'M A HERO, NO ONE APPRECIATES THAT moment just ENRAGED me. My instantaneous thought was about like our real troops, not even these N.E.S.T. fucks. Just that he had the audacity to take that tone over himself when he's a shit character in a hella shit movie.

This is what drives me crazy the most about all this. Look at superhero movies! They're just popcorn movies, but a pretty good percentage of them manage to be well reviewed and well liked in spite of that.
All Transformers really needs is good, well filmed action, a simple and coherent plot (a plot you can somewhat summarize in a sentence would actually be pretty good here), likable, decently written characters on both the human and the bot side and some fun humor that's more dialog or character based than about peeing on or humping things. THAT IS NOT THAT MUCH TO ASK FOR. Maybe not even from Michael Bay, because if memory serves, he managed to pull off most of this stuff with The Rock.
A no humans movie is probably not going to happen on the live action front, and that's fine. I'm not a big fan of most of the Bayformers designs, but that's fine too. The aesthetic appeals to a lot of people and there's no way they're going to please everyone with this. I just want to be able to watch a movie about giant robots and have fun, and the Transformers franchise has not succeeded in this.
Since reboot chances seem slim, my big hope is that the success of Transformers will cause more mech movies to be made and at least one of them will be good.

This is the best post I've seen talking about this movie (from another forum):
What a strange little film.
The first two movies were a direct assault on narrative cinema, but number three ups the game considerably by attempting to redefine the narrative. It's the cinematic equivalent of Ebonics.
As has been mentioned Bay's swiftly edited action scenes are replaced by a fixed camera but the narrative structure remains the same as before, which has an oddly nauseating effect. Characters appear and disappear, both geographically and chronologically, and their motivation are equally fluid, often doing complete 180s within the same scene. This approach worked in time with the editing before, creating an elegant, chaotic rhythm designed to entrance and sooth the mind into accepting the impossible. In Transformers 1 and 2 we were shown a series of disjointed images and left to combine them in our heads. Film logic became dream logic.
This time, with the camera fixed in place and the editing slowed down, we are told to accept what is presented to us as persistent reality. The world, laid out across a clear, 3D stage is solid and unquestionable; it denies the audience a chance to interpret it any other way.
This means that while we see characters fly, jump, crawl, run, skip, fall, walk and wheel across open spaces. As soon as they are out of frame, they drop into the same nightmarish abstract reality that existed THROUGHOUT the first two movies. Every single time that any character re-appears in frame the viewer is forced to re-evaluate where they came from, why there are there now and what they are doing there; because the movies GIVES US NO FUCKING INDICATION. Scenes begin and end with no real resolution, characters appear to be doing something with some intent, but we don't really know what it is. This is particularly apparent during the supposedly "exciting" finale in Chigago, where the characters seem to be doing little more than running round in circles waiting for MORE people to appear.
The entire finale is defined not by what characters DO (they do very little other than run and scream) but when they appear, at one point some people appear from under the water and this is supposed to be good, but we don't really know why it's supposed to be good and we're never really shown why it's good afterwards. It's just a thing that happens. Meanwhile the Autobots run around (mostly off camera) doing something that we're not told about for reasons we're not clear on and suddenly they are back in frame captured. Their capture was more significant than anything they did previously because their escape is more solid and real than what it was they were doing when they were captured. Of course, this escape is signaled by someone else APPEARING IN THE FRAME, which is their cue to do more things. As soon as this happens they all disappear again.
Throughout this sequence I was utterly baffled. The object in view were solid and clearly laid out, but the landscape, like the characters seem to exist only when the camera is pointing at them. We are shown countless wide views of the area they are supposed to be moving across, but as soon as the camera goes in for a closer look we have no idea where they are and they don't seem to be getting any closer to whatever it was they were trying to get to. Every frame in Chicago is full of non euclidean, broken, tumbling buildings - even at ground level. With no clear causal chain of events, both in terms of plotting and BASIC SCENE CONSTRUCTION, the film becomes an abstract series of concrete scenes that become mentally painful to watch, as your brain tries to work out how they relate to the preceding scene.
We are TOLD that this is an epic movie from the wide shots, but because nothing exists in relation to anything else everything becomes tiny and disconnected. It's like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube for the first time, you are so focused on on particular set of colours that everything else becomes insubstantial and inconsequential. In contrast to the original two films, dream logic is now forced into shape as film logic and it just doesn't work at all. The only way I can think to describe it would be that each scene change is like a jump cut, only everything is different after each jump. We know things are supposed to make sense but we don't, and after a while you start to feel like you're being kicked in the head. It's the cinematic equivalent of a schizophrenic breakdown.
Transformers is a movie about objects, in which everyone is an object, from the blonde's ass-first 3D introduction, Patrick Dempsy's bizarre exit from the movie (tumbling head first past a fallen, horizontal piece of architecture) Great significance is put on the appearance and disappearance of these objects. Shockwave's ability is to literally appear out of nowhere from the ground, to the flying suited people are able to surgically plant themselves out of nowhere. The Autobots are supposed to disappear with the space shuttle but then appear again at the correct moment. And, most tellingly of all, the whole story is about using a series of object to activate another object to make an object appear so that the bad objects can turn the people into objects to give their home object a new coat of paint..
I'm sorry, that's not the clearest assessment of the movie but I've just got back and I think it broke my brain. I wasn't expecting a good movie, but I was hoping that there would be some kind of cohesive structure to it that would allow me to enjoy the action scenes. I'm not joking when I say that Coleman Francis's THE CREEPING TERROR was a more complete movie than this.
Since reboot chances seem slim, my big hope is that the success of Transformers will cause more mech movies to be made and at least one of them will be good.
Well, we do have Real Steel to look forward to (actually nothing like Robot Jox and more like that Twilight Zone episode).
Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots has Hugh. I'll have some eye candy, at least.
Seriously, how did Bay find a woman who looks worse than Megan Fox? HOW DID HE DO THAT SHIT??!?

Kinda makes sense. The whole time I thought to myself, "Sentinel Prime is acting like a dick!"
And we all know there's no bigger dick in the transformers universe than Ultra Magnus.
First time I ever saw a Sentinel Prime was in Animated. No way I was going to be butthurt over him being a villain, like that one dude....
You make a marvelous point, though, Mark.

I saw Hasbro's HFTD version at Marshalls for 25 bucks the other day. Still didn't get it.
Instead of cool things that other people find, like RtS stuff, they had old ROTF deluxes like Blazemaster. What the flerp :(

I would have hella swooped up on it for $25.
As much as I like movie aesthetics, movie Starscream has never been, and will never be a Starscream to me.
Feels too different.
Probably the only character I feel this way about. Alas~

I have a weird relationship with the movie characters. I generally wondered why anyone would get excited when certain names would pop up as new additions to the robot cast along the way (Sideswipe, Mirage, whoever) since they didn't end up looking or acting like any older versions of the characters most of the time. However, those names helped attribute them to the characters and the history regardless. As such, I really hated seeing it whenever they were poorly portrayed or cast aside insignificantly.
Of course, the original cartoon shoved characters aside left and right, but that was when Transformers was nothing but a low-budget cartoon to sell toys. They had no idea it would be a 20+ year phenomenon that people would genuinely care about. By now, the excuses aren't so hot.
Man, it feels silly to be bothered about such things.
Guy at HJU got butthurt over Sentinel Prime being a "villain," yeah. There's probably a lot of Jazz's history making up my love for movie Jazz. Because, brother, that deluxe mold is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Alt mode is awesome, but good lord, they gave up on the arms. Gave up completely.
Plus he's around for a couple minutes total, really.
I don't think I've ever let myself get overly emotional about the characters getting fucked over, in specific. Pissed as hell at the omnibus character raping that goes on, obviously. I probably went on about Jazz dying, but I think it was more of the WHY DA BROTHER GOTTA DIE FIRST?!? variety than OH NOES HOW CAN I GO ON!!?!??
I like movie Ironhide's look and I'm glad I never bothered to do anything about not having one until the leader rolled around, but I didn't bat an eye when I read that he died, before I even saw the movie. I so wholesale despise the story of these movies that I can't be emotionally invested other than to be disappointed and pissed off.
They gave me some cool toys and reinforced the fact that most people are idiots. I think that counts as a win, on a cynical level? Maybe?
Ugh, I hate how incoherent and back and forth we sound talking about this. IT'S THESE MOVIES' FAULT. WE'RE JUST TRYING TO KEEP OUR SANITY ;;

ok, so this is a question about transformers the game:
have you guy played it? was it any good? ive read countless reviews that describe it from average to "a horrible sin".
im asking because i want to buy the cybertron edition i saw in blockbuster that has been sitting there since the game came out 9so im talking about a lot of time).
i want to colect a gallery of special editions and this one is pretty cheap.
i will buy it regardless what you guys say, but like many other games, i like to ask around about them. its mostly protocol, for your answers will determine if it will be placed in the special edition gallery along the force unleashed USE and the godfather CE (xbox) or the horror gallery along kasumi ninja and pacman 2600.
Horror gallery. Especially if it's the Wii version.
If it was War for Cybertron, you'd want to put it in the good collection.

So I'm watching it again. You know how.
Reached a moment so lulz, I have to point it out. At one point, Sentinel is facing off against Optimus, Bumblebee, and Sideswipe, and the humans are helping them fire on him. Of everyone, who is the first to knock Sentinel down in a big fiery explosion? Some random military dude, that even gets a closeup to scream "YEAH!!!"
Haha.
I was able to figure out what happened with Laserbeak this time, but only because of the dialogue. That isn't even clear either, but Sam screams something to Bumblebee about shooting him, then off his head goes. For a split second, you see the tiniest little gun barrel right where his head was. It happens soooo fast.
Holy jeebus, Matrix_Prime is still alive. Recorded a review of DOTM with BaltMatrix.

You person: I haven't played the TF games so I have no opinion. All I know is War for Cybertron is the only one with real acclaim. If you need more, there are only a handful of people that post in here. Chill out and be patient. Oh wait - you said you're gonna buy it regardless of what we say anyway.
NEGALICIOUS: That whole scene felt really sloppy. At one point the Dreads are riiiiight behind Sentinel, then they're suddenly a good ways behind the other Autobots and Sentinel isn't even shown in most shots from there. Despite everyone seemingly splitting up once they get off the highway - with Sideswipe/Ironhide staying back to fight those two, they all get back to the base at the exact same time, and Ironhide is right behind Sentinel to set up the OMGWUT scene. Crazy fucking editing.
Anyway. Done. Guess Cybertron does go splat. What's there seems to be asploding. No real dialogue about it. Next scene is Megatron asking for a truce and then, wee, Homicide Prime goes to work. Ending narration I couldn't remember is nothing amazing, just him saying they won't forsake Earth. Hooray. As I figured, watching again didn't help me feel much better about it, but I'd like to say I'm done going on about it. We'll see :(

first impressions: some of the music is good.
the graphics are good (for 2007), except in the movie sequences. they look like ps2 videos. hell, ive seen wii games with better video quality.
the controls are somewhat clunky, but not unplayable.
i didnt have a problem with the driving, must be cuz im acostumed to sega rally 2 (which has an insane sensitivity.
the prequel comic has a very good artstyle, might be inclined to puchase some comics.
havent touched the bonus dvd.
as for the button mashing, it seems the long range weapons are useless because 99% of the time, the enemies block them, even when knocked down.
the cybertron mission is PATHETIC, destroy 35 bots? WTF.

Homages a popular G2 toy (
http://www.tfu.info/1995/Decepticon/SpaceCase/spacecase.htm) and the base mold is well liked. It can fit in with Classics well enough. I wouldn't say it's a total grail but since it's a Target exclusive it's definitely scalper fodder. Creates added impetus.

Don Murphy on the future of the movies:
What happens next? Certainly not a reboot. We haven't lost the Transformers. They didn't grow up or become expensive like Toby Maguire. I don't know what happens next. I'm pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn't all bots.
:disgust:
Who the fuck is Don Murphy?
An idiot, that's who, mir?
:smug:
Okay, this son of a bitch, ROCKS. I can expect paint, but I can't really expect chains. Still, this is pretty nice for what it is. Loving the cloak. Gives off a Dracula from Simon's Quest vibe, in person. I also like him without it, just NOT GIVING A FUCK. If there was ever a bot to connect TF and Silent Hill, this is the one. Sgt. Recon?!? Fuck no, give me a Human Alliance Travis Grady for this guy, goddammit.
If someone can get behind the Sulk/Cape aesthetic and roll with that, I say do it. I've always tried to salvage the gold in the dung heap of these movies, and this is a great example. Obviously most of the people who'll buy him will be Megs fans, and that's perfectly logical. I speak to another potential fandom of this dude, however. Lurker brothers and sisters, if you like what you see, BITE, and BITE HARD.
Pretend the ladder being on the wrong end of the tank is Megs emulating Animated Starscream. Or, ya know, NOT GIVING A FUCK.
Yes, this IS a different not giving a fuck than his head being visible on the ROTF figure. That was just kinda.....let's be PC and say 'not my taste.'

Sexual Predacons, Terrorize!
Watching a review for Battle Ops Bumblebee, and it occurs to me that movie Bumblebee has even less than ZERO personality because he talks in sound clips and I can only really make out what Optimus, Starscream and Megs say.
I never catch what the hell he's saying. He's a big dumb automaton who follows around THE BEEEEEEEEEEEF.

When I was watching that I was wondering if it was offensive or not.
Probably not, but that was the mindset I was in, at the time.
Gave up quickly and thought about how creepy it was.
If this mooooves you in some way, I actually do recommend Megs over Ironhide. He's easier and a ton more fun to transform. Plus he's a far more consistent toy, in my experience. I think he does a lot more worthwhile things for his price point as compared to DA HIDE.
I do recommend Ironhide if you're the patient sort and are feeling lucky about winning the QC lottery. If I saw them both sitting on the shelf (hypothetically) again I'd definitely grab Megs, though.
YMMV.

Dear Neg:

I actually don't want a leader Megs. It would have better paint aps, but I think I'm becoming disenchanted with leaders. Movie 1 Prime and Bulkhead are okay, but the movieverse stuff seems to be pushing it. Feels like they're inching closer to masterpiece level and that's probably pushing too far into TOO FIDDLY AND INTRICATE territory for Neg's tastes.
3RD PERSON.

Plus, even though they have the articulation it's hard to get much out of it because of how precisely they have to be balanced. Then Ironhide can't really look anywhere because his chest is in the way.
