Totally squeed over the battle axe. :D
Also I am definitely getting this:

Okay, new Robot Heroes: FUCK YES.
New classics: Not the characters I would have chosen, but awesome nonetheless.
Cartoon bots: Hello Beast Machines. >_>
And Soundwave having a guitar... ugh. That just wreaks of exactly the kind of shit I hate about Cartoon Network.

I think they look a lot better than Beast Machines :o
Did you watch the clip TK?
Nope. Is there more to see in it?
I don't know, they have that skinny/distorted look to them that really bugs me. Beast Wars figures, for the most part, had great proportions and looked sleek and cool, and Beast Machines sort of took that and oversleeked it to make things with crazy limbs, wacko proportions, and goofy looking faces, and to me this is a similar thing. =/
I think some of them, like Starscream, look cool aside from the silly elongated head. Others like the big fat green guy just look all-around retarded to me. I'm glad that others like it, it's just totally outside the realm of enjoyability to me.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy

The clip is the intro to the show and a brief clip from an episode
I kind of see what you're thinking about Beast Machines but I still think it's not that bad
I mean this is a Beast Machines motorcycle robot
compared to Prowl
The toys are way closer to the animation than the Beast Machines toys were as well.
But I know you mean the proportions are a lot like the really skinny proportions like Cheetor had and all, I get you
I don't get the giant chin thing myself. I think the designs themselves are good, like if drawn in a different style they'd probably look really cool.
The Decepticons are getting another classics triple changer and we still don't have Springer?!?!? I know he just got the Botcon exclusive repaint, but still. I've always wanted a decent Springer figure :(
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
07-29-2007, 10:25 PM
I think at Botcon they said they want to put all of the triple changers into the Classics line
For now check out Energon Bulkhead. Not exactly Springer but very much an homage, and a great toy.
That would be great. I'd definitely entertain the notion of picking up Blitzwing (despite my earlier tank comment, I do have a soft spot for him). It's just a shame that my favorite is already there and I don't like his train mode *sigh*

The train doesn't seem slightly misshapen to you? I'm not one of those who are complaining that it's a bullet train, I just think the back of it is funky beyond measure.
Tbh Ktulu, although I don't like the BM cycle drone or Prowl, I honestly think the cycle drone looks better. At least that is just a drone and its look is fairly appropriate to what it is. Prowl... looks like a robot douchebag. =/

It's neat to see more of how the animation looks, but it sucks you can't hear more of the voices. :(
Have people who actually saw it given much feedback on transformer forums? Voice stuff can really make or break a cartoon for me.
I am psyched about the toys no matter what though. I am a sucker for a cuter looking robot, and I love the weapons.

Ndi the response so far, since the clips and toy pictures have come out, is largely positive. People are most digging how they seem to have normal conversations with each other rather than the short/cold dialogue of previous series and the generous use of the transformation sound. Most negative reactions are mostly people simply not liking the designs

I'm an old fan getting back into the series, haven't seen it in a long time, already seen some G1 eps and some of the Armada series (which I find exceptional compared to the original).
It's been a hell of a long time since I watched it. Used to have a few models.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
08-01-2007, 02:52 AM
In my opinion some of Armada is really poorly done, with terrible animation in some episodes and great animation in others for a really inconsistent look, a lot of really shitty translation issues such as characters frequently being referred to by the wrong name, and nasty animation errors such as Decepticons showing up with Autobot symbols. Also, it had some really great episodes but way too many that just focused on nothing but the kids, or just catching Mini-cons, hence a lot of people thinking it was more Pokemon at times than Transofrmers. Now, some of it's problems were also seen in G1, such as the inconsistent animation and strange animation glitches, but that was back in the mid 80s, the more current one should have had much better quality than it did.
Doesn't help that a majority of the toys were not up to current standards either in terms of articulation and paint application, the figures were lazily decoed and often unable to do important things like simply move their legs upwards. The focus was more on gimmicks such as hidden missile launchers than making the toys quality action figures. G1-esque you say? Again, I say this was 2002 and there was no excuse for it, back with G1 the level of quality on those toys was the same or better than the other toys out at the time.
Still, it is the best show in the Armada/Energon/Cybertron saga at least, and I bought all the damn toys anyway even though I didn't like most of em because Transformers are like crack to me :(

I'm not that far into it yet but I can understand it.
I've noticed the glitches and the cliches/gimmicks in the armada series. I agree with the some crap some good thing you said. Like most series, it takes a while to kick off. I'm going to get together some money and get the movie (the original one) sometime. I can't remember much of it, I was only a little kid when it was on TV. (i'm only 17) I was basically exposed to the reruns of the official series and if lucky the movie. Those days are long gone though. Nothing but shite on TV. DVD, stream or download is where I get entertainment now.
Sorry for ranting on but it has to be done. I only had a G2 Optimus figure and some more from G1, no idea where they all went though. :<
I'm not a fan of the new movie's soundtrack, Lion's Theme was a hell of alot better than Black Lab's. Linkin Park... Need I say more? I'm going to see the movie tomorrow though. Good or bad it's the catalyst that's got me back into the series.
Wonder if I can snag some G1 DVDs sometime... Is it a sin to download? Got a tiny arse HDD, only 69GB with 14GB left.
My shitty post ends here.

Clearer shots of some TF Animated toys
Shoden I don't think there any G1 DVDs in production anymore, but you could probably find the box sets Rhino put out a few years ago cheap on eBay. Try used video stores like MovieStop as well. I believe rental places like Blockbuster also have used sections you can buy from. They shouldn't be too hard to track down.
There was a better version planned, with more extra material and better overall quality, but it was cancelled for whatever reason.
The most current special edition of the G1 movie is also now out of print, as the division of Sony that put it out went under. I'm sure given the popularity of Transformers at the moment it will be re-released through another division however. If you want the one they already released though now, again, eBay or used video stores. Just make sure you don't get any of the older versions, those aren't worth it as they aren't remastered and have almost no extra features.

At this point a direct continuation from the show that ended in 1987 is not happening. If you like those exact versions of the characters I suggest reading the current comic books to satisfy your desire for further adventures with them.
About the new show: Did you watch the clip of the actual animation before deciding you don't like it?
May seem like a dumb question, but a lot of people are judging the animation based on designs alone.

They're only exact in appearance. A lot of them have very different personalities.
Just saying that's the closest he's ever going to get, especially since he won't accept/give a chance to any non-G1 Transformer series. You could say, judging from the old cartoon anyway, most of the characters had fairly unexplored personalities anyway, as there were just so many of them. There was definitely enough there to provide a lot of great, memorable characters, but because more kept coming and coming we only got to really know a few of them really well. The comics have always kind of explored things further, Grimlock being leader worthy and very intelligent aside his jumbled speech for example, rather than just goofy comic relief.
Anyway, you seem to actually admire a current TF toy there Atom, bewildering. It's ok to you that they dared change Shockwave from a laser gun into a car...and that, oh god, they didn't even name him Shockwave?
He probably doesn't know about the name thing. :P

I don't care if people don't like things, so long as they give them a fair chance first. It just reminds me of the whole NEW SUCKS, OLD IS BETTER attitude with so many things, and I have a real problem with it. Sometimes it's true, but it isn't a rule, often times new versions of things do have their own merit, but so few people will give it a chance as if it'd be some betrayal to their love of the old version.
I don't know if it's true Atom isn't giving it a fair chance though. He knows what he wants to see and this series clearly isn't it, so I'd say that's a fair chance in itself.

The current movie is the first time Cullen has played Optimus since the end of the G1 cartoon.
In Beast Wars/Beast Machines, Optimus Primal was played by Gary Chalk.
In Robots in Disguise, it was done by Neil Kaplan, in a G1-esque performance
Gary Chalk returned as Optimus, doing an actual Prime for the first time, with Armada, and continued with the role through Energon and Cybertron
Now in TF Animated David Kaye, the voice of Megatron in all shows Gary Chalk was an Optimus, is playing the Autobot lead

So Classics Roddy arrived at my door recently. I have to say I'm very pleased. The only complaint I have is one of the same faults of the G1 figure: The canopy/spoiler section doesn't attach to anything in robot mode and consequently moves around if bumped. Minor annoyance at best.
I love that there is almost no "robot kibble" on the underside of the alt mode, to borrow a term from Beta at TF Wire. Plus, for once I don't feel like the spring-loaded weapon is superfluous. Rocket engine in alt mode, jet pack in robot mode. All I can say is w00t.
I'm definitely going to pick up Tits Roddy in the next couple of weeks.

Just wondered, for all I know it could've been that guy to originate it
I doubt it, but he is the first person I heard use it. I was giving credit where I could, not trying to say he was the originator. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I enjoy Beta as a reviewer, if for no other reason than he's willing to get peeved during his reviews and I find it funny and honest. MatrixPrime is meticulous, and the one I turn to when I want to see complete transformations, but honestly I find him rather banal. Silverbolt is my favorite, because I feel like I'm getting crash courses on the history of each character. He's great about bringing in info from sources other than the shows, specifically the comics.
Plus he's got an energy and liveliness that Beta and Prime almost completely lack.
Titanium Roddy is nowhere near as good as the Classics Hot Rod unfortunately. Looks fairly good but the proportions and articulation just aren't as good at all. Worth owning though.
Myself, I think Titanium Rodimus is a bit better for looking at, but all the above points are true. Classics Rodimus annoys me just a bit because of the articulation on the arms and how limited it is, but overall it's very well made.

Is Matrix Prime the one that says "like so" through the whole review?
I've been watching a lot of reviews on youtube and most of them are really pointless to me. They show off the toy and the transformation, and that's good for people, but you get hardly any opinion on the toy from most of the reviewers. It's kind of like "here's the toy, I'll transform him for you, and yeah, I give it 8 out of 10!"
WHY do you give it 8 out of 10, what do you not like, what are some of the stand out details in vehicle mode, what homages to old toys are there, etc you know
That isn't MatrixPrime. He's the one who sits behind the camera and all you see is his hands. He spends about 4 minutes going on about colors (Gah!) but he does show you entire transformations. He does talk about what he doesn't like, very explicitely. Beta is similar, but he's been known to get exasperated with toys and like I said before, it at least feels somewhat honest. Silverbolt will show you simple transformations but usually transforms stuff while he's talking.
So, the three I mentioned all have strengths and weaknesses. If I'm deciding to purchase as toy, it's Prime all the way. If I want a history lesson, which I really need these days, it's Silverbolt as I find him horribly funny and agreeable.
MatrixPrime (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCVps0ryGis) doing Tits Roddy, so yeah I've seen some of the faults.
Beta (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUqNlsp29Ec) calling movie Megs a mess :p
Silverbolt (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FejLXkbYt6g) doing his thing for almost 20 minutes o_O
Also, I have to say how much I loathe this (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_Mb_2SEqqo&mode=related&search=) guy. I'd love to be in that room. Never want to see a review conducted in it  Buy the complete version of the software, or figure out how to get that off the screen! There are tons of other reviewers, but those are the 3 I usually watch.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Me8sctGZuT8
It says video uploaded by Matrix Prime, if he did it, that's the one I was talking about (and that means YOU LIE). He says "like so" during the entire transformation process a million times. I've seen the same on his other videos also. I think it's hilarious
And yes, to me some of his interviews leave me wishing he'd give a few more opinions, but I guess I just haven't watched enough of them if you say he does go into that.
The worst guy guilty of taking 9 minutes to pretty much say "here is the toy. I like it" IMO is this guy (
http://youtube.com/user/DCompose). He seems like a nice, cool guy and all but the reviews are totally lacking in any reasoning for however he rates the toy. He just shows it off and says it's cool.
Anyway I've never actually read/watched a review or whatever to determine whether or not I'll buy anything so it doesn't matter if I come across one that isn't deep enough, but these are just observations I've had. I watch this stuff on youtube now and then when I'm bored, and can't help but think a lot of them could be more interesting or more in depth. There's one English guy that does them and though he has a horrible camera he's got a lot of personality and does much more than just show off transformations and all that, he actually goes into character history and will be pretty direct about whatever he doesn't like and overall they're some of the more interesting reviews because there's a more human aspect to them, they're conversational almost.
Oh shit, you're right. I DO LIE. For some reason I thought you meant someone saying "this is like, blah blah blah, sooooo." Prime does say "like so" everytime he moves a piece. Guess I'm just habituated to it :/
DCompose annoys me because he usually insists on playing music when he isn't mic-ed very well to begin with.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
08-09-2007, 06:05 PM
Other kinds of reviews I really don't like are when you see the guy open it for the first time and just give a haphazard review on the fly. I think DCompose has done that, his MP Megs review was like that.
Worst one of this nature that I've seen though is Classics Mirage by Zac Shipley from Powet.TV (
http://youtube.com/watch?v=m2_HpdfMkpQ). Holy shit, such a waste of time. He's an ok guy and all, and some of his other reviews aren't too terrible, but this is the most rushed and unhelpful review I've seen personally.
MAYBE I'M TOO HARD ON THESE I don't know
I think you have a right to be hard on them. Especially that one. I hadn't seen that, and I'm surprised it a.)got posted, b.) got solid reviews. Far away from the camera, to boot. Quite a shame, almost treated it as if it was work :o
I've seen several reviewers from Powet and the only one I'm impressed with is Crazy (
http://youtube.com/watch?v=HuzQ8pdu2mM&mode=related&search=). He's always come off as prepared and professional, to me.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
08-09-2007, 07:17 PM
Yes I agree with you, Crazy is pretty good and he's quite impressively adept at transforming the toys in a manner that doesn't take way too long and is still completely visible by the camera as well. He posts at TFW2005 now and then (Shipley does as well) and is a pretty decent guy
TK: By the way, 6 inch Titaniums are showing up at Target stores again. If you wanted Magnus despite his arms and you do have a Target around, check it out. The Target here unfortunately only had Starscream and he's way down the list on ones I want so I passed.

I'll keep it in mind. I'm pretty low on moneys at the moment though so it could be some time before I am in the market for any Magnuses and they'll probably be gone... Still passed on that damn Starscream the other day though, haha. It just doesn't look right to me. I picked it up and considered it but just looking at it...don't know, didn't feel the urge to get it

FALLEN forgot his real name long ago. It didn't matter. It was a name given to him by his creator - the one he betrayed. It was a relic of the time before he had come to see the truth. The truth of UNICRON.
Created as one of the original 13 TRANSFORMERS to serve as a protector of CYBERTRON, FALLEN has always been a creature of chaos and degradation. His original purpose was to oversee the stately running down of the universal clock, the ordered tick of universal balance from energy to entropy, the slow and total collapse that heralds a new creation - for what are creation and life without dissolution and death? He knew his purpose only too well, and became obsessed with the end of all things. Intrigued by the dark sciences, he came in contact with UNICRON, and fell under the evil planet's thrall.
He exists now for one purpose alone: the destruction of the Seal of Primus and the release of UNICRON into the universe. He lives only so that one day he might witness the last star in the universe wink out, and eternal ending fall.
That's deep, man.

A lot of Wal-Marts have been restocked with all kinds of stuff, from Alternators to Cybertron to Classics. I guess it's either stuff that was sitting around warehouses, or Hasbro shipping out old stock to try and fill the demand given the popularity of the movie. There's a couple of Alternators and Cybertron figures I missed that I wanted, I wonder if they'll turn up around here?
Lunchbox McGillicuddy

Checked my Wal-Marts and they did have the restock of old stuff. The first only had 20th Prime, Classics Megs Vs. Optimus, Cybertron Quickmix, Soundwave, and Dark Crumplezone, and some Cybertron mini-cons, all of which I had. The second however had those plus Classics deluxes, Cybertron Primus, and some Alternators. I picked up Alt. Rollbar and Sunstreaker as I'd missed them before, everything else I already had, but it's pretty cool that there's some old stock back in. I was fairly surprised that Doug Aldrich of Dio and Whitesnake was the guitarist of the band at the time. I pretty much think the 80's movie's soundtrack beats the shit out the LA new movie's soundtrack by miles.

I really like the old movie score (the instrumental score aside from all the rock songs)- much cooler than DiCola's work on Rocky IV imo
There's only a few themes though, most of the songs on the score soundtrack sound a lot alike. It's cool though, it was a Botcon 97 exclusive, but not hard to find on eBay these days, or you know...p2p networks
I have the old rock soundtrack on CD as well, they still sold it in Media Play (same company as Sam Goody/Suncoast) all the way until it closed in 04 or 05. I'm not sure if it was still in print somehow or what, but they always had copies.

I don't understand why exactly he "should" have been a bigger star or anything, he was one of a million inspirational rock singers, nothing particularly "special." Of course, I don't wish lack of success upon anyone and I'm sorry for him that his biggest success was a very low profile theatrical toy ad, but I just don't see what was there to separate him from all the other similar acts back then, something to say "this guy should have been huge"
About the lyrics however: Judging from recent hit songs such as "My Humps" though, it's obvious lyric quality doesn't always really mean much :o
Oh, I agree. Not in terms of financial success, anyway.
And I can even get a kick out of a song with terrible lyrics. I'm just sayin'.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
08-17-2007, 04:06 PM
It usually doesn't matter tooooo much to me, but there are a few extremes I can't stand:
Power metal songs about vikings, warriors, or how "metal" the band is
Death metal songs discussing in great dictionary and encyclopedia-like detail how someone is being ripped apart, mutilated, going to hell, or experiencing whatever horrific occurance
Country songs about almost anything. My mom used to listen to country and some of the lyrics were really cringe worthy. IT'S ALRIGHT, TO HAVE A LITTLE TITTY. (That's not real)
Rock songs about sex and partying
Otherwise (I think I covered all the bothers me, don't know), bad lyrics can be good luls
I was being goofy when I said he should still be a big star, jftr.
But in the context of the movie, I quite fancy the songs. I've never really thought of them outside the context of it, but yeah they'd probably be pretty damn silly.

Japanese manga at the tail end of G1 around 1991 or so called Battlestars or simply 'The Return of Convoy', it's the series Star Convoy (a resurrected and super-powered Optimus) comes from, the version of Convoy/Prime that Galaxy Force/Cybertron Prime is based on

Michael Bay has made some babyish rant about him not doing the sequel because Paramount is not planning to release the TF Movie on Blu-Ray (which does suck for Blu-Ray/PS3 owners but as the reason not to do the second movie?) This is not official that he's not doing the sequel, he's just freaking out. Apparently he "quit" Pearl Harbor 4 times in pre-production alone, so yeah, no indication of his role on the next TF movie at all, he's pretty much a big baby. It's on some message board you have to register to see though so can't give you the full quote, as I'm too lazy. Michael Bay has already retracted his earlier statements:
" Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-Ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-Ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.
As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.
So today I saw 300 on HD, it rocks!
So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!

I'm having trouble thinking of my ideal TF director. It has to be someone used to filming for the intention of heavy special effects and gets good performances from actors, as well as being able to shoot good coverage of scenes and able to handle action and battle scenes well, but most importantly - it has to be someone that respects the source material, not just someone that sees dollar signs and has the "HMM WHAT CAN I CHANGE" attitude. That attitude is Brett Ratner doing the first X-Men movie you know? Change is fine, but change for the sake of change, no faith in the original material to "work on screen" and all that...not so great.
Bay's original vision for the TF movie had almost nothing to do with Transformers, they were pretty much going to be mindless drones...just a random alien invasion movie. Only through the insistence of Hasbro and the writers did we still get something with at least a somewhat proper spirit, despite it still mostly being a "the army vs. Decepticons" extravaganza. With more money next time and the first being a success, if Bay stays on he'll probably be able to get away with even more of his own ideas the next time and the TF spirit could be even further removed. Again...change is expected, change is welcome, but not when it's just for the hell of it, it has to still fit within a certain vibe.
Blah and blah

Before the movie came out all the toys were in heavy supply but ever since it debuted they've been selling out like crazy. I wonder if it's a matter of Hasbro not producing enough? I've heard stores didn't order very much either since other movie lines weren't moving quick enough, i.e. Spidey 3 and Pirates figures.
This is why I still only have 3 versions of Jazz and Prime. It's okay, though. Tits Roddy is more important to me, anyway. No, I don't have him yet, I had to buy some VC points instead.

It has the "ooooh rare" factor going for it too, it'd probably be something I'd buy and just keep packaged - provided it came out, and I was lucky enough to see one.
Those two proportion goofs really are annoying though - aside from that it's really close to Don's design

BBTS is reliable. The retail price was $35, so this is almost 10 more, plus shipping. My instinct would be to look for something cheaper, but I'm really a cheap ass, and at this point that might be unrealistic anyway.
I saw one for 31 BIN on eBay, but the shipping was 20 dollars :(
I think overall that'll probably be as good a deal as you can find for it at this point.

Sweet! Congratulations on Alt-Rod. I got 2 Arcee's just to keep one in the box. I might even keep Cheetor sealed, but the box is a little beat up. When I found G1 deco Jazz and Starscream, they also had WW Ultra Magnus, but the box was ripped open and the figure was broken, must have been a customer. What's making me mad in my search for '08 Bumblebee is I was just at 2 Targets yesterday. I get off work today at 5, ran to Kohl's and found Arcee, then I drove to 3 targets and they also just ran out of there stock of deluxe figures. They either had 1 or 2 left of Long Arm, that one blue Decepticon pick-up or Dreadwing.

How much are the deluxes at Kohl's?
There's been lots and lots more reports of the Titaniums at Targets. I need to check mine again, I might tomorrow, haven't really gone out and done much lately.
And you're going through what tons of collectors have gone through, toy hunting can get nuts. The crazy popularity of TFs right now just makes it tougher, not to mention people buying up every one on the shelf if they see lots of stock so they can sell them for high prices online :(
Sackboy
09-01-2007, 07:55 AM
They have the deluxe figures for $12.99. Just a little more then most other places. I have my sister in Texas checking Kohl's tomorrow for me. Maybe she'll have some luck and find '08 B.
Edit: I gotta say that Arcee is worth a pick up. I'm looking at the bot mode and it's a damn sexy figure.
Awesome, Ktulu. I wish I was willing to spend the money on alternators Hot Rod.

I only spent 25 and got free shipping. If I had to pay the hellish prices on eBay and such, I wouldn't have him.
I went to Target today. The only Titanium they had was Scourge. I want him, but not that bad. I just left it there.
They had a lot of G1 Jazzes and Starscreams, I was surprised to see that. Didn't get them of course, I haven't bought any other movie toys, why start now?
I'd rather buy Dinococktimus Prime

I went to Kohl's today. They were ravaged as well. They had Barricade and Swindle but that would have just been spending money to spend money, and NO.

TK DO IT
Man, I'm making my first TF trade. I feel dirty. I'm trading reissue G1 Thundercracker for Alternators Optimus :( I tried to get the guy to trade me two toys for Thundercracker because he cost me a shit load more than this guy paid for Alt. Prime, but he said my logic was shit (in a nicer way) and offered me Alt. Prime and 5 bucks for my Thundercracker.
I agreed ultimately, because I feel...Thundercracker is a toy I just have sitting on my shelf, unopened, just having it to have it, whereas I will open up Alt. Prime and "enjoy" him a little more. Plus, just trading for him is cheaper than buying one on eBay, obviously
Still, I'm sad :(
When I can afford it I'll probably buy back a Thundercracker as soon as I see it for a good price

Luls at Matrix Prime
Soooo about Tit Ultra Magnus....I ALMOST wish I hadn't bought him now that I've opened him. I guess it'd be a cool display piece in the box, advice with Titaniums I gave to Mark that I should have followed with this guy - but as a functional toy out of the package, no! His legs fall apart easily, the vehicle mode doesn't fit together at all, there's a huge gap on the top of the vehicle and when you move it around to fix it the tires are no longer level, his shoulder cannons fall off with the slightest brush, and the gun can't fit into his hand very well. Then there's the big problem with the arms being so far back in robot mode, which I had hoped was his only problem. Boy was I off with that one :(
Eh, I love these damn things and I can't really say I totally regret getting him, but I did buy him at a time when I'm really low on money. Him being so suck doesn't make that feel any better. I'll keep him and maybe see if I can customize it a bit to work out the kinks, but uh, it's a shame Hasbro let something like this out into the world. It looks fine just sitting there, but you can't really pick it up and have fun with it at all. Not passable.
Again, like I said - best left in the package, and not worth a penny more than retail price.
Not sure if I'll even bother opening the other two now.

Even though I'm totally against it, imagine stumbling onto that and having enough cash to buy every single fucking one. Given the prices they go for...you could make yourself a whole lot richer.
The guy that made the thread (who is generally a good guy) bought 10. I hope he's doing the right thing with them.
Anyway
Has been around for a few days but this proto image of Bulkhead is kinda neat. The toys look pretty nicely detailed and sculpted. I'm impressed how much they look like the crazy over-stylized designs. If only he wasn't so tubby...
With the huge arms and tiny legs he's kind of like a new version of Crumplezone. Jaw is similar too, hmm
Vastalis
09-10-2007, 09:38 AM
I like it.
I don't know, but I've always liked the exaggerated, out-of-proportioned "big guy" characters.
Assholes!
I hate collectors-for-profit, who to take advantage of true fans.
But then again,
Those obsessive fanboys who must have everything at any price are the ones who actually fuck it up for everyone. So I guess they deserve it.
Oh well, You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't!
Ugh. I hate how silly animation styles are excuses to make ugly things with awful proportions. If something proportioned like this came out for any of the past TF series, people would bash it to hell, but I'm sure it will be deemed OK this time. It looks like his legs aren't even articulated! This is a huge step backward imo.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
09-10-2007, 09:51 PM
Well like I said, it's a lot like Cybertron Bulkhead, and I wouldn't say people bashed that one to hell
The figure is very well articulation also
I don't mind when some of them have weird ass proportions, it keeps them from all looking too much the same. To me, it keeps a better TF feel than some of the weird Beast Machines stuff.
it is better than some of the BM stuff but in my opinion it's generally on the same level. =/
I tried looking up Cybertron Bulkhead but couldn't find anything from Cybertron that was called Bulkhead. I found Energon Bulkhead though and if that's what you're talking about I totally disagree, as the proportions are not off on that figure, so I assume you must be talking about something I haven't seen.
His legs should be about three times as long as they are for the size of his chest and arms. I just really hate that whole goofy distorted cartoon network look I guess.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
09-11-2007, 12:37 AM
I made a typo - in the post I posted the picture in I said he looked liked Cyb. Crumplezone a lot, I meant to type that name in the previous post, sorry. Did not mean Energon Bulkhead at all.
Anyway, as for everyone deeming the look of the animated stuff OK, not really, a lot of people are hating it so far. Every TF line has been that way though, there's people that love it and people that hate it.
I don't think it's a step back per se because it has overly cartoon proportions, the designs still feel more TF-like than the movie ones, at least to me, and the engineering and sculpting to make the toys so accurate to the animation models is very well done.
Ah! that makes a lot of sense.
I still disagree then. Crumplezone did have fairly off proportions but I didn't think they were so exaggerated as to just look completely ridiculous (though I have never particularly liked Cyb Crumplezone either). It definitely isn't as exaggerated as this figure, whose legs are actually shorter than its torso.
I mean, it's worse than Fatty Prime, and you know how much flack that gets.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
09-11-2007, 01:17 AM
All I said was it's similarly proportioned to Crumplezone, not necessarily that the proportions are the same or exaggerated the same way - they both huge arms, tiny legs, and a big ass jaw. You disagree with that? :p
and Bulkhead is getting flack for being fat too man.
