I hear it's about the US vs. Russia in a space race to the moon. In 2011! Couldn't we just launch the autobots up there in 5 minutes? What is it about giant robots that Bay finds soo boring that me needs to spent most of the time on humans? It's not like in comic book movies were we get 5 minutes of Spider-man or Ironman for every hour of Tony or Pete, which is trying to do character stuff, this is just an action movie with robots. Why can't we get character from the robots? I think Bay wants to fuck dogs or something because why else would he have dogs humping twice in 5 minutes?
Hey, hey, now. I'd watch an hour of Tony for every 5 minutes of Iron Man, brosef~
Shia LeBOOOOOFFFFF is not RDJ. Sam is not Tony. The sky is not polka dotted.
Tom Toonami Tunes
10-21-2010, 09:18 PM
I never said I wouldn't either, I was just saying that in that case not getting Ironman all that much had a purpose because we're getting something else of equal or greater value while with transformers you're there pretty much for the robots and hope you get something extra like a beast wars story line.
Oh, lol, yeah I read that sentence too fast XD

$15 bucks for those guys? Ouch.
They were 10% off plus buy one get one, so with tax I paid around $30 for all three. Maybe a little less, I don't have my receipt!
That said, I really don't think $15 a figure is a bad price, although my newfound love for figuarts may be skewing my opinions here. $15 seems pretty cheap when I've been fighting off the urge to drop $80 on a Nazca.
Animated toys are pretty good quality, and I think they're worth the money, especially since they're pretty hard to buy new anymore.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
10-25-2010, 11:14 PM
15 for a deluxe Transformer is good considering they're commonly consistent in quality (though not always perfect) and have so much to offer in terms of play value. Figures of similar size at similar price ranges don't stack up as well in those respects, for the most part.
The best valued boys-toy in somewhat recent times was easily the GI Joe Sigma Six line imo. 8 inch figures, good quality, great range of movement, tons of accessories for 10-12 bucks. If you could deal with the stylized, cartoony look, good times were had.

Fifteen years in the academy,
He was like no cadet they'd ever seen.
A man so hard, his veins bleed ice,
And when he speaks he never says if twice.
They call him Judge, his last name is Dredd,
So break the law, and you wind up dead.
Truth and justice are what he's fighting for,
Judge Dredd the man, he is the law.
DROKK IT!
With gun and bike he rules the streets,
And every perp he meets will taste defeat.
Not even Death can overcome his might,
Cause Dredd and Anderson, they won the fight.
When the Sov's started the Apocalypse war,
Mega-City was bombed to the floor.
Dredd resisted, and the judges fought back,
Crushed the Sov's with their counter-attack.
DROKK IT!
Respect the badge - he earned it with his blood.
Fear the gun - your sentence may be death because...
I AM THE LAW!
And you won't fuck around no more - I AM THE LAW!

First time I've shared "news" here in a while:
Generations listings showed up for Arcee, Starscream, and Warpath. These could all be WFC, although in the same pack-in comic that the new Kup toy's design (as well as other upcoming toys we already knew about/had seen at the time) was first shown, a new "G1" Warpath was shown as well:
So. That. If anyone cares for Mr. BAMPOW, Ms. Pink-cos-girl, or Mr. CHICKSDIGME...enjoy your new toys.
I might need Pink-cos-girl if she's 'classics' and not WFC. Roddy needs a womanz.

Well, I will buy Arcee if she's WFC, so she is pretty set~
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
01-08-2011, 07:15 AM
I'm not sure it'd be much more "geewunny" if they went a different direction from the WFC one, given that they still tend to modernize somewhat.
I agree I'd like her to turn out a bit more classic to fully fit in with her usual cohorts, as this is a little too far into "FUUUUCK!!!!!PARTSONTOPOFPARTSMAN!!!!!" territory, but at the same time, maybe the inevitably simplified toy version of that would pass.
I wouldn't doubt that Hasbro/Takara might throw us a Springer before too long. Arcee adds to a growing trend of new TFs that have also been done by 3rd parties lately.
They already threw us a Springer. A shit repaint that isn't even a triple-changer.
Protector armor is for the very most part, insanely awesome. I don't like that the spoiler extenders have to stretch to fit onto Sidearm and the Roller-equivalent. That's a shame, since I think they look really good on the Roller dude ;; The shoulder articulation is still pretty much an exacerbated nightmare, with the sides of the hood banging into the spoiler backpack when the new arms are attached. Still, below the shoulder, the situation is MUCH improved. The original arms hanging off the back of them only adds to the aforementioned nightmare, however.
They did the best they could with what they had to work with. Classics Hot Rod isn't the best figure in the world, even if he's one of my favorites. You can pull the face plate down to align the eyes and hide more of Hot Rod's face (thanks Peaugh) and that works pretty well. The overall package changes the silhouette enough to make him feel like the upgraded character he's designed to be.
The build quality is high and the plastic feels different than Hasbro's, but it doesn't feel cheap or brittle. I'm not paranoid about breaking him in the slightest and it doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects from a couple transformations. I don't have City Commander (or the repaints), but the process seems much less finicky and perilous.
If you aren't a fan of Hot Rod or Rodimus being a target master (or don't own Henkei Hot Rod), then I say give Sidearm a pass. He's well designed, but I never had Target Master Roddy so there isn't any particular emotional/practical reason for me to have him. $10 is $10.
If you have Classics Roddy, and the scratch, I recommend him fairly highly.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
01-09-2011, 04:01 AM
There was an inappropriate Dirge in those Target exclusives too, but they still did a proper one recently. There was a tiny Legends Warpath as well and he's being done up in a larger size now. The old Springer repaint doesn't necessarily have to be the only one they bother with. I'm not saying I expect it without doubt, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Let's consider a crappy possibility for Arcee - she could be yet another weird bikeformer, lulz
I wasn't aware of that. Maybe we will :) Warbot Defender seems like a quality enough toy. Wonder what he's going for these days...
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
01-09-2011, 05:30 AM
Too much for meeee.
Also remembered that deluxe Universe Hound, RtS Jazz, Generations Red Alert, and the upcoming Perceptor were all predated by earlier "Classics"-era tiny dudes as well. Springer's chances probably aren't too bad, especially considering his popularity.
Would a Hasbro/Takara Springer be better than the FP one? I'm not so sure they could really top Defender, but eh, at least it'd be way more affordable. I do think they could pull off a better Arcee than the ones all these other companies have shit out over the years however.
I could live with having an animated Arcee if the Generations one turns out to be too movie-ish. I'm sure a H/T Springer would be plenty serviceable as long as it was actually a triple-changer. I could probably even go along with a LITTLE bit of movie influence, given how much I ended up liking Seaspray.

Reveal the Shield wave 2 (Perceptor, G2 Laser Prime, Wreck-Gar!) was recently spotted in California. Several people cried "but I haven't seen wave 1 yet!" To this, yet more people responded "haw haw haw, you need only to visit Kohl's, for they have walls and walls of Jazz and Tracks as far as the eye can see!" This was agreed upon many times over. As sure as death and taxes, you WILL find RtS Wave 1 at Kohl's! RELIABLE. BET ON IT!
With this hot tip at my side, naturally, I went to Kohl's.
And...those toys were not there.

This happens to me all the time. ; ; If I had the know-how I would love to set up some sort of toy database where people add locations where they'd seen a specific toy. It'd actually be really interesting to see what parts of the country got some of the stuff I never wind up finding. When I was still buying ponies, there was one a lot of people never saw that was for sale absolutely everywhere here, even the grocery store.

Yeah distribution does tend to be pretty varied. That's why it occasionally irks me when people dismiss and scoff at certain toys for being "shelf warmers." A lot of the time, whatever is common in once place is something someone else never saw elsewhere.

I've been trying to find Jazz and Tracks. The fleeting high of much wanted plastic crack would soothe me ever so slightly. I've given up on Wal-Mart, they're way behind around here. I think they may turn up at Target soon, as I have seen the Cyclonus/Rodimus two pack from the RtS assortment...with the new Cyclonus swapped out for an old one no less. Typical.
Wait, wait. Hasbro re-released a version of the Rodimus mold?
They're....helping Fansproject?

Or sticking it to the people that started buying old ones for huge money because of the 3rd part upgrade kit, heh. It's either generous or evil. It's got ugly colors though (imo.) The Cyclonus is nice though, quite show accurate. Personally, I think the old one should still be kept, so then you have Cyclonus and his Armada, lawl. Swapping it out and returning the new set to the store is just nasty :(
Yeah, I GIS'd it. I saw one in a review someone did for the Protector set, a while back, but figured it was a commissioned custom.
I know what they're shooting for with the color scheme, but yeah, it's not fantastic. Especially when you'd have to use it with the Protector armor.

I got a box of toys the other day and there was Transformers toy in the bunch.......... but I have no idea what it is :( I can't find any info on this thing. It has a speaker inside, and volume switch on top, a jack that a normal headphone plug fits into, and takes a C battery. Does anyone know what this is? 1984 Hasbro... Was it supposed to hook up with another figure or something?
So thanks to Ktulu I know what this thing is :) I think I've decided I wanna do something with it though. I'm gonna open it up and find the part that makes the 'robot' sound and remove it from the speaker. If it can't be removed, then I'll just replace the speaker altogether. I'll have to go to electronics store and get a double ended cable.......... I'll make it a speaker that I can hook up to my mp3 player :)

From Bob Budiansky (major important dude to Transfahmas) - "Perhaps I was taking it to an absurd extreme, but I wanted to illustrate the high moral standards by which Optimus Prime lived. Even if it meant his departure from the scene, he lived up to his agreement with Megatron about the game. Also, I always planned on bringing him back, so reports of his “death” were greatly exaggerated, at least in hindsight"

In Marvel's G1, the 2005 crew (amongst other things) was indeed handled differently, with the actual movie adaptation they did being an alternate timeline, which Bob didn't write. In the main story, the big time jump from the show never happened, and Ultra Magnus never really got used outside of those "future" stories and the UK only stuff.
Every picture I've seen of the Kup toy makes the panels look pretty stationary. I've grown iffy on it, but I'm betting he's one of those that look totally fine in person. It happens.

Toys like that make me angry. No one could possibly want them yet they make 'em anyway and clog the shelves and blame us when a line goes kaput because they didn't make enough profit to make the line profitable.
Remember hasbro making 30 different die cast lines at once and shipping them in the same box but saying everything's got it's own sku so they'll be no mix up at the stores and then there was nothing but shelf warmers of Star Wars ships, non-transforming transformers, Marvel, Indiana Jones, & even Battlestar Galactica so no one could get anything they want and then it was nothing but 4 years of star wars repaints?

There was this one Clone Wars game that came out right after episode 2 and there was a mode like death match with the tanks and walkers but there were these car washes that once you capture them they build gun turrets and extra drone units that you could tell to advance hold guard the outpost they came from or encamp around your HQ. Something like that would be good for a transformers 2-4 multiplayer setup.
Tom Toonami Tunes
02-04-2011, 07:25 AM
I can see that.
The best map was the not hoth ice planet. each side gets 4 outposts right around their HQ with a 9th in the middle of the field and big walls of ice funneling everything to it with a few narrow paths that go around to the sides. Beating the front line back long enough to secure the 9th outpost is nearly impossible and if you sneak around no one will be there to repair your damaged out posts. there is just rushing the enemy territory but with 16 gun turrets and 8 bots plus the other players you die fast.

Get Light and Fang out of there. Use a real party n00b.

I can't remove Fang, that's her battle.
That's not Diablos.
Did you hear that the figures start breaking down after one transformation? Someone reviewed Odin and said it wasn't stable when he transformed it back into gestalt mode.

If Sackperson wants the trailer, patience is your friend. I'm sure that thing's gonna hit clearance.
So, Prime Prime:
Disappoint.
Prime Megatron:
Visible head syndrome. At least the robot looks right.

So far I'm liking Prime Bumblebee and Starscream. Bot mode Megs ain't that bad, just needs a bigger, more intimidating cannon.

Further reading suggests all those in the last post might be all from one set of toys, so the Prime and Megatron probably aren't going to be the "main" versions of those guys in the line. Not too hard to believe.

A box set then.

That was Soundwave... so loyal like a puppy to Megatron. Thundercracker was a bit dimwitted, but I think he was more of a lazy bum who didn't want to bother with the war, and only went along with it due to peer pressure lol.
I like that one of the Starscreams in Animated was a girl Starscream with robo-starscream hooters. They probably shot lazers.

The Mechtech Ultimate Optimus Prime figure features three modes of conversion – vehicle, robot, and robot with "mech suit." The trailer, which serves as a weapons depot and command center, also converts into a "mech suit" that Optimus Prime shows off when it's time to rumble.
A robot in a mecha suit!

Oh...really
Watching Protoman's review of Masterpiece Roddy. This is adorable :)
Nothing cuter than fanboys getting their wank on ^^
Spoiler gets screwed up in Space Winnebago mode? That's a shame. That's the mode I'd display him in.

My understanding - there's paint on the inside of the slot the spoiler goes into for some reason. It rubs off onto the spoiler - but comes right off.

Clearly, DotM figures are going to be more child friendly.
Wonder if getting in there with a q-tip and some paint thinner would make it look noticeably bad in base mode....
No, I'm not going to buy it. This isn't a pokemon or FF game. I mean it ;;

The excess Rodimus paint can be removed by some sanding apparently

Yep, gimmick riddled with simpler transformations from what we've seen so far. The mechtech nonsense also makes the toys way smaller than usual. If I find it I'll post it - there was a picture of all of the toys so far in vehicle mode. Voyager Megatron is barely the same size as the deluxe cars from ROTF. Take a look at the new Skids compared to the old one:
Consider that the ROTF one is shorter than the usual deluxe anyway.
Well, at least TJ will have work.

I prefer simpler transformations, even though I love Cybertronian Bumblebee. I like to be able to transform figures without really thinking about them.
I like gimmicks too, if that gimmick is LAUNCHIN' MISSILES.
How is Generations Blurr?

Finished watching Transformers Japanese Generation One, Season 4 (complete re imagining of the US Season 4)... not bad, with the Headmasters and co being brought in, and none of this nebulon binary bonding stuff...
But what they did to Optimus Prime as well as Ultra Magnus...
Transformers Victory on the otherhand... can't help but wonder what the fuck they were thinking when they made it.

I don't mind simple transformations either. The whole process of getting to A to B isn't something I'm too bothered about. A lot of people really bitch if it's too easy however. I feel kind of weird for not caring sometimes.
Blurr is a pretty pretty robutt.

Sometimes I really struggle with transformations, which makes me feel stupid. :( I don't transform my Bumblebees that often. Really like to transform my bike transformers because they're more fun for me to play with in both modes. Just idly messing around with switching stuff back and forth is fun for me too.
Such nice colors. ^__^ I keep thinking about getting Blurr when I see him in stores but I always put him back. Might grab him, next time.

Man launchin' missiles is the laziest thing you can do with action figure, and for some reason instead of a bullet that is fired it's half the damn barrel of the gun which only goes about 9 inches away from the guy.

I consider G1 Bumble Bee an "easy" transformation so anything for my that's not a Mixmaster flip the cab over and pull the arms out is pretty intricate.

He won't be there when you go to get him. I was recommended to get this one re-issue Boba Fett because this one's jetpack stayed on better and there was no removable helmet, just the whole helmet as the head and the antenna moved too so a worth while figure but I passed on him for a good 6 months because I already had that other one. Went to pick him up and was gone.

Motormaster is probably a repaint of Prime, I'd imagine.
I wouldn't count on them combining. In fact, I'm 100% sure they won't build that functionality in.

Bah... then it sucks. Having members of gestalt groups, and not having them combine into gestalt form... epic fail.
There was a charity drive not too long ago that used Animated figures to recreate Defensor
SickKids Charity Auction - Animated Protectobots and Emergency Response Team (

There was a new Prime episode today but I just got home and haven't seeeeent it yet
Movay-toy Sentinel Prime:
It's a bit random, the chest for instance, and it has the standard weird-o face, but that's honestly one of the most coherent movie robot modes evar. Reminds me more of the design type seen in the toy-only characters that filled out the ends of the 07 and ROTF lines, movie-ish but certainly not full-retard.
That crazy doom-bringer fire truck thing though, lawlwut

Watched the new Prime episode last night, it was aight. AIGHT. Nothing amazing. Skyquake was kinda neat, though the voice actor was a little silly. There was also a big lawl moment with a big deal being made of him not having an alternate mode yet...even though his character model had a visible cockpit and wings.
