If I'm reading what you're saying wrong, ignore this:

Silverbolt was around before Beast Wars...

Leader of the Aerialbots...

My TV viewing was controlled sporadically and sometimes I wasn't allowed to watch TF for whatever reason so Beast Wars was the 1 I "know well" because my sister loved it for the talking robot animals.

Neg

I understand, man. You can totally check out G1 stuff, now, though ^^

Whole slew of Beast Wars characters had their origins/namesakes in G1. That's probably an understatement.

Not saying you have to watch the eps, or anything. But knowing the history definitely has its advantages. Plenty of wikis out there, I'd imagine.

I'm not a super historian myself. I had to re-verse myself with a lot. I started with G1 and then wasn't into it again until the first movie revived my interest. So, I'm sure to say all kinds of stupid things about the Unicron Trilogy and RID and Beast Wars XD

Anyone else ever wonder how some robots like Kup or Ironhide are "old" even though pretty much everyone is almost always depicted as being around at the beginning of the war as well?

Man...it's best not to think about things like that I guess. Maybe some of them have...troublesome energon addictions.

News from the UK Toyfair (no pictures allowed)

WFC Optimus - looked bigger than deluxe, more like Voyager size

WFC Bumblebee - awesome vehicle mode, and even more awesome, metallic gold paint/plastic

Universe Seaspray - ultra sized I think, since it was bigger than ROTF Bludgeon that it was next to. Looks just like a huge version of the original Same blue and white and yellow for the turbines. Very nice.

Some new G1 style legends - I think I saw a jeep, Outback maybe? or Swindle?, It was khaki coloured but the view from the booth window was too far to see the smaller toys

Some kind of combiner - could have been power combiners, but looked to me more like it was built from Legends sized figures - and it was definitely not Devastator. One of the legs looked like a jet or shuttle of some kind. Could be a Legends Bruticus set? Was very lanky and with wiry limbs, but humanoid in shape.

Man. I hope Seaspray really does look good.

Yes the same thing happened with the newer cartoon. The stores didn't order any more animated stuff so they could clear their stock for the movie line so hasbro looked that their sales and said Hey animated isn't selling any more, lets just ignore the fact that the show itself has been getting decent ratings and the fact that the toys are selling at a steady pase and just cancel the show and not make anymore toys from it."

A few pages back I posted ToyFair pictures where they showed the first few Classics figures for this year, called Generations this time. They're doing a G2 theme, lawl. Looks dead on.

Ktulu, Neg wants you to buy a PS3 (I'm sure not a 360, but I don't care) and Final Fantasy XIII for the transforming summons called Eidolons. He's been shitting his pants with excitment over them.

I went to the local comic shop today, first time in a while. It has a new owner and he's turned the place around big time. Last time it was super lame, looked like it wouldn't last. It's doing well now.

It was interesting, there were people just standing around talking about Transformers when I got there, I of course joined in, and as more people came into the store, the conversation just kept growing. Every damn customer was into Transformers, kinda lulz. I ended up in there for like four hours :o

There was only one guy that liked the movie stuff, and even then he only liked the toys. Was actually a good conversation. We hit some other subjects too, of course.

I MIGHT GO MORE OFTEN LOL

Lawl

I've only had an in-store conversation with another collector once. I saw him literally weighing Universe Powerglide and Onslaught against each other in his hands like a scale, trying to figure out which to get. I figured I'd help him pick the right one - Onslaught. Talked a bit after. Wasn't anything goofy, pretty casual, normal stuff.

There have been other things like helping parents out (I get asked questions (such as WHICH ONE OF THESE IS THE GOOD GUY) randomly sometimes, as if I work in the section) but no fan to fan interactions.

He was really loud.

Like loud enough that other people started watching.

A parent asked me questions in the TF aisle one time too, he wanted to know about the Titanium figures and if they were good toys for kids (no.)

I got a comic shop, does well but no one is hardly ever in there. Every once and a while like during free comic day the guy that writes the KOTOR comic drops by but I really didn't care for them that much so I've been hesitant to attend and the owner has asked me 3 times to come by.

I wish people would ask me about what they should get more often. I wish I had mad money so I could do some serous donating stuff.

Collecting cells would drive me crazy. They're kinda the same as each other yet slightly different and there's only one of each. I have a hard enough time deciding which pictures that I took to post I'd go mad if I had to make a decision on buying something like that.

I know that the frames from the droids and ewoks toons with characters and vehicles get really pricey also a cell with Rei Ayanami's naked breast went for over I think $5,000.

Is it just the orginal series? If so what isn't huge spoilers are huge lies about which robots are gonna be in the show.

Blur's got a chainsaw and Ironhide as well as RC are depicted as main players.

Blackarachnia fighting RC udber water?
Also were's Sari?

Come to think of it all the really good stuff is only in like, 3 episodes at best; Dinobots, Blackarachnia, Wreckgar, average joe Constructacons, Waspinator, George Takei Ninja bot.

Maybe if it does well enough they'll make some new seasons.

Many anime intros are like this, with their own isolated scenarios, hence my description "typical anime style." There's no "lies about what robots are in the show" - these characters are all in, they're just not all main characters. It's not a big deal.

A similar example of an American show getting a really amped up anime intro is the X-Men animated series:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCWvWZVVNH0 - Best to bask in the awesome instead of bitching what's not "right"

Blurr's axe is from his toy, ftr. Same as Arcee's swords.

You're right about the lies but it's slightly miss leading when characters who make brief cameos are in the openings as prominent players.

Given the fact that in the voice-over business in Japan they rarely change the actors for characters will these guys be voiced by the same cast as G1, Beast Wars, Bayformers?

Lunchbox McGillicuddy

Don't know about the cast right now personally, but one interesting thing - Takara has often tried tacking on this or that different version of Transformers onto another existing continuity. They're pushing Animated into the movie continuity...somehow...it's kind of goofy. Interesting note - usually Optimus is called "Convoy" in Japan, but in both their movie dubs and Animated, they just kept him as Optimus.

It's not like Hasbro is totally innocent, they forced Cybertron into a sequel to Armada/Energon for the dub despite it being written as a new story entirely. It worked especially poorly with the Autobots obviously having never been to Earth on that show, despite being based here for the 10 years between Armada and Energon. wut

Tom Toonami Tunes

I guess they'll make it happen way after the movies it being a near future and all. And I guess they could change the script so that Optimus and co. aren't lossers but retired or something.

Is the Japanese version of Jazz a black guy, the Japanese version of the black guy or was the jive talk just in the American version?
