It's not a true blowout, but the results are obvious, so in the interest of momentum, let's keep this moving:

Call Me a Treasure Hunter - 8
Lucil's Speech - 1

The Locke quote easily puts Lucil's little speech to bed. Now battling:

Final Fantasy IX - First Act: The End of Ugly Desire

Kuja: I'm not done telling how to make soulless toys out of the dregs of souls!
Zidane: Dregs of souls? You mean Mist!?
Kuja: First, you don't want to listen, now you start asking questions? Oh, brother... But you're not ready yet!
Dagger: Why, you-- don't you feel anything!? Taking the lives of so many...
Kuja: Spare me the lecture. Lives come and go all the time. What's the big deal? Speaking of warmongers, why... what about that mother of yours, Princess? She said she won't feel alive until she has everything! It breaks my heart to see such greed! The war was my fault? No, no! Your mother wanted it! All I did was give her a little push!
Dagger: Liar! My mother was sweet and kind. You changed her!
Kuja: Mwahaha... So the curtain rises! Perfect, my canary. Let me show you the truth about your mother! First Act: The End of Ugly Desire. It's showtime!

vs.

Final Fantasy X - Pretend I Didn't Say It

Wakka: Excuse me... Maester Seymour? Why is your Lordship...presently...present here...sir?
Seymour: Please, speak as you normally would.
Wakka: Isn't this operation against the teachings of Yevon? Aren't you gonna stop them?
Seymour: It's true... I should. However... Both the Crusaders and the Al Bhed truly wish peace for Spira. This Operation Mi'ihen was born from that wish they share. Although it may be sacrilege to Yevon, their intentions are pure. And I, Seymour Guado -- the person, not the maester of Yevon... As a denizen of Spira, I wish them well in their endeavor.
Wakka: But, using machina... That's bad, isn't it?
Seymour: Pretend you didn't see them.
Wakka: Beg your pardon, but that's not something a maester should say!
Seymour: Then, pretend I didn't say it.
Wakka: You're kidding!
Tidus: (narrating) From the first time I laid eyes on him, I never did like Seymour... But you know, some of the things he said that day... They made a lot of sense to me.

For something that wasn't a choice, it was a better battle than some. But still, the FFIX quote wins easily.

Okay, we have two more battles left in this round. And because some things are a bit uneven, a few of the games are going to have more entrants than others. So let's get that taken care of with the first of the final two battles of this round:

Final Fantasy VI - Magicite Hocus-Pocus

Kefka: I'd say you're all charged up, boys and girls...or whatever... Say, remind me to show you my Magicite collection someday! You might see a few familiar faces!!! Now for a little Magicite hocus-pocus...! ... ... Now, little Espers... Let's see whatcha got! ... ... Eh?! You wanna take me on? Fine. Here I am... Imagine! Thinking you could defeat ME!! This is rich! Mwa, ha, ha! Now, my little Magicite pretties...... come, and help me build the magical empire of "Kefka"!

vs.

Final Fantasy VIII - An Enemy That is Pure Evil?

Irvine: So like... Is it true that SeeDs aren't supposed to question their mission?
Squall: (There are times I'd like to know myself. Like...now for example. But...) What do you care?
Irvine: So like...if you knew that your enemies were pure evil, you'd get more fired up to fight them, right?
Squall: (...An enemy that is pure evil? Right and wrong are not what separate us and our enemies. It's different standpoints, our perspectives that separate us. Both sides blame one another. There's no good or bad side. Just 2 sides holding different views.)

Final battle of the first round:

Final Fantasy V - The Great Gilgamesh

Necrophobia: Gilgamesh!!
Gilgamesh: Phew! I made it!! If I go home right now, I'll remain in history as a weakling!
Necrophobia: Heh. Blabbermouth, I'll get rid of you first!
Gilgamesh: You're pretty good! You can even defeat, the great Gilgamesh?! Cara, your grandfather, he was a strong man!
Cara: Grandpa.
Gilgamesh: Faris, go fall in love! Then you'd be more feminine!
Faris: ...
Gilgamesh: Lenna, never forget you love for animals.
Lenna: ...
Gilgamesh: Butz, I would have like to have a one on one battle with you! You were such good friends.
Necrophobia: Gilgamesh, DIE!
Gilgamesh: That's my line!

(Agent0042: I'm really sorry about the less-than-stellar script.)

vs.

Final Fantasy X-2 - Always "We Had No Choice"

Yuna: "We had no choice." Always "we had no choice." Those are our magic words. We repeat them to ourselves again and again. But you know... The magic never worked! The only thing we're left with is regret.
Voice of Braska: Yuna...I'm sorry.
Yuna: No. I don't want this anymore. I don't want friends to die...or fade away. I don't want battles where we have to lose in order to win. Nooj, I know that what you say is what you mean to do. Give me your resolve. Believe in Yuna.

Wakka: Yuna, she knew what she was doing when she chose to become a summoner. To face Sin, ya? Yuna knew!
Rikku: But Wakka, that's just totally wrong! Summoners shouldn't have to sacrifice themselves...just so the rest of Spira can be happy, right?
Isaaru: But that is our choice...
Dona: We all live in fear of Sin. You know that.
Isaaru: A world without Sin... That is the dream of all Yevon's children. And we will use that power, even if it means our lives!

Will I ever see your smile?
Love goes away, like night into day.

Final Fantasy X-2 - Believe With Me

Yuna: One thousand years ago, before the time of Sin... Spira was torn in two, divided by a terrible war. This was Spira's great mistake. Out of the rift left by this terrible conflict, Sin was born. In only two short years, Spira has shaken off its unhappy past. We have moved on. Now, Spira grows brighter with each passing day. That light is our strength. I don't want to see it fade. Do you? There are so many of us, each with different ideas and different beliefs. Of course we sometimes disagree, and arguments will happen. But our hearts can and should always be one. (Lenne joins.) Believe with me: Even if we're torn apart, our feelings will unite us. That's what this song is about.

Necrophobia: Heh. Blabbermouth, I'll get rid of you first!

Final Fantasy X - I Could Never Forget

Tidus: No problem! Zanarkand never sleeps! Let's go to the sea, before the sunrise. The city lights go out one by one. The star fade... Then the horizon glows, almost like it's on fire. It's kinda rose-colored, right? First in the sea, then it spreads to the sky, then to the whole city. It gets brighter and brighter, till everything glows. It's really...pretty. I know you'd like it.
Yuna: I'd like to see it, someday.
Tidus: Well you can, Yuna. We can both go!
Tidus: Yu...?
Yuna: I can't. I just can't! I can't go!
Tidus: Yuna.
Yuna: I'll continue. I must. If I give up now... I could do anything I wanted to, and yet... Even if I was with you, I could never forget.
Tidus: I'll go with you. I'm your guardian. Unless I'm...fired?
Yuna: Stay with me until the end. Please.
Tidus: Not until the end... Always.

Final Fantasy V - Doesn't Make Me Any Less Important

Reina/Lenna: What's goin on?
Butz/Bartz: Reina. Fa. Faris is.
Galuf: A girl!!
Faris: What's wrong with that!?
Lenna: But, why?
Faris: I was found by the pirates when I was little, and they raised me.
Butz: And you pretended to be a man?
Faris: A female pirate would just get laughed at.
Galuf: Hmph. I knew you were too beautiful to be a man!
Faris: Hey, just remember that my being a female doesn't make me any less important! I'm just as good as you guys!

I don't think I really understand what it means to live and to die. Where do we come from...? Do we go back there when we die...? If that's what it means to live... I wonder where I came from...? Do I hear the sweet sound of the quarter-finals? I think I do. But first, let's get this match here wrapped up:

Doesn't Make Me Any Less Important - 2
What It Really Means to Die - 11

The FFIX quote sails through to the quarter-finals and here they are:

Final Fantasy V

No Mere Rage Nor Hatred
The Great Gilgamesh

Final Fantasy VI

Excerpt from "Aria di Mezzo Caraterre"

Final Fantasy IX

My Heart is Set
What it Really Means to Die
First Act: The End of Ugly Desire

Final Fantasy X

She Follows Her Heart

Final Fantasy X-2

Respect Points

FFIX is obviously the game to beat here, so let's get started with it right away. This is the first battle of the quarter-finals.

It's showtime!

vs.

Final Fantasy X - She Follows Her Heart

Tidus: Lulu! How could you? How could you? Isn't she like a sister to you? I thought you were family! Why don't you do something, Wakka?
Lulu: Don't you think we tried to stop her? She follows...her heart.
Tidus: And I've been telling Yuna... Let's go to Zanarkand together! Let's beat Sin! I told her all the things we could...we could... And all along, the whole time, I didn't know anything! But Yuna, she'd...just smile.

An obvious and big-time win for the FFIX quote, which moves on to the semi-finals.

Final Fantasy V - No Mere Rage Nor Hatred

FFIX comes off smelling like a rose again, earning three out of the four coveted semi-final spots. But that doesn't guarantee yet that it's going to be an all FFIX final. Let's decide that now with this battle:

Final Fantasy V - The Great Gilgamesh

Necrophobia: Gilgamesh!!
Gilgamesh: Phew! I made it!! If I go home right now, I'll remain in history as a weakling!

Okay, so it will it be an all FFIX final?

The Great Gilgamesh - 6
What it Really Means to Die - 8

Looks like it will indeed. That surge of votes for the FFV quote just didn't quite make it. Well, the FFIX quote seems like it may have a tough time winning the final. But first, we have to find out exactly what it's up against. So here's the battle to determine that:

Final Fantasy IX - My Heart is Set

Beatrix: It can't be... Princess... ...So, it was true. The queen really did mean to kill her...
Steiner: WHAT!? No! The queen would never do such a thing!
Beatrix: Steiner, it is time for you to accept the truth. ...My heart is set. All this time, I have been mistaken...
Zidane: I hate to say it, but the lady's right, Rusty. You'd better learn to accept it.
Beatrix: ...Citizens of Burmecia, please forgive me.
Freya: It is too late to seek forgiveness! ...But you can still save Dagger.
Zidane: Freya...

vs.

Okay, it's that time again, the time for the big final battle you've been waiting for. Of course, we'll need the results on that semi-final battle first:

First Act: The End of Ugly Desire - 7
My Heart is Set - 3

Villain dialogue wins again. Here it is, the final battle, your all-FFIX finale:

Final Fantasy IX - What it Really Means to Die

Vivi: Mr. 288 told me that I understand what it means to live and to die... But it's only because I thought stopping was different from dying... I don't think I really understand what it means to live and to die. Where do we come from...? Do we go back there when we die...? If that's what it means to live... I wonder where I came from...? Where will I end up when I die...? Why am I shaking...? What is it that I'm feeling...?

vs.

Vivi is a popular character, but there is quite a bit of support for the other quote. And some pretty strong opposition to the other. Which will triumph? Cast your votes!

Oh, BTW, thoughts on what we could do for the next edition are open again. There was an idea that had been suggested, but it's on hold for now to give it more time to be worked out. I'll put my mind to work as well, but in the meantime, if anyone has any thoughts on it. (P.S.: A list of everything we've done so far is back in the first post in the thread.)

As for ideas Funniest Monster design or Most Dangerous Monster all the Regular Monster not once per game ones.

First Act: The End of Ugly Desire, cause the other one is a crappy derivative line that appeals only to the angst of teenagers and is poorly written on top of that. Also, Kuja's flamboyance ftw.
