All right, here is our first battle. It's from the Most Unusual / Unique category:

Silence and Motion - Final Fantasy VIII (No doubt, this funky beat for the massive, high-technology, xenophobic metropolis of Esthar was truly unique and unusual. I know some people loved it, but some hated it. And since it played pretty much all the time you were in Esthar, there was certainly ample chance for the feeling to grow either way.)

vs.

Otherworld - Final Fantasy X (Played during the opening blitzball FMV in Final Fantasy X. "Go now if you want it / The otherworld awaits you / Don't you give up on it / The otherworld it hates you." A hard rock lyrical theme in a Final Fantasy game was quite unusual. This song was later used also for the battle with Jecht / Braska's Final Aeon.)

P.S.: Do remember that you can find MIDIs for most of the music at the main FFShrine site. Also keep in mind though that obviously you won't hear lyrics on any performed songs and sometimes the MIDIs may vary greatly from what you actually hear in the game.

Not sure exactly what it would be categorized as, but I remember it during some important boss fights.

Agent, put Vamo' alla Flamenco or Zidane's Theme on "most exciting/fun" for ix. I think is the best from ix for there :)

I think it would be a good idea to add the trance Kuja battle theme from FFIX to Best Boss / Speacial Battle Theme section.

Just to clarify, final boss themes are not included in that section. I had hoped that it would be clear from the fact that I didn't include any that they're out, but that is the case. No final boss themes nominated for that section, please.

The Great Northern Cave - Final Fantasy VII (This theme is played on the World Map on Disc 2 and 3 of FFVIII, with the exception of when you decide to head back to Midgar, when Cid's Theme temporarily takes over as the World Map theme. This is one of those non-cheery World Map themes that sort of takes over during the dark times. This theme actually first plays in the Northern Cave on Disc 2.)

Tough one....I think the Great Northern Cave is very good. It has a very evil feel to it. So my vote goes to The Great Northern Cave.

The Great Northern Cave is pretty good imo. Just because the game has flaws, doesn't mean the music is flawed too.
