Elena is speculated to have romantic feelings for Tseng, though Tseng has never been indicated specifically to have romantic feelings for her, so the idea of them being "lovers" may be more of a fanon thing. Due to a notorious mistranslation (replicated above), players of the U.S. version believed Elena to be devastated by the supposed death of Tseng, but the PC version script corrected this to read "It really doesn't matter! You really got guts messin' my boss up like that!" Elena and Tseng return in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, working together and their role is expanded in Advent Children Complete.)

Though Garnet never stopped loving her, she knew that something was very wrong with her mom and her actions. Though the two ended up aligned against each other, they made their peace in the end.)

(This may possibly be the most well-known "romantic" Final Fantasy couple of all time. But in the game itself, the two don't really have all that much time for romance, other than the Gold Saucer date, if Aeris is the one to choose Cloud. The two flirt, but in the end, Aeris/th gives her life for the Planet. In Advent Children, at the end, "Cloud senses Aerith's presence and also mistakes her as his mother. She and Zack joke over people calling her that, and tell Cloud his place isn't with them yet.")

Snow Villiers and Serah - Final Fantasy XIII - Engaged

Before I asked you to marry me, I wished that you'd say yes.

(Snow and Serah are engaged to be married, something which Serah's sister, Claire "Lightning" Ferron, does not approve of. But when Serah is branded as Pulse l'Cie, everything seems to fall into doubt. Snow assures her that he will stick by her no matter what and then proves it when he travels into the fal'Cie to try to rescue her. She turns to crystal and Snow believes that her mission was to save Cocoon. When the entire group is branded as Pulse l'Cie, he sticks with this belief, eventually allowing the group to carve a new fate. In the game's ending, everyone is decrystallized and Snow & Serah reunite. Presumably they get married and live happily ever after, though I expect Final Fantasy XIII-2 will tell us more about that.)

Both meet their downfall when they are trapped in their own Proud Cloud, which Cloud and crew bust up.)

(Zidane and Garnet first come to know each other when Zidane and the Tantalus crew stage a kidnapping of her. She asks Zidane to be kidnapped, as she wishes to travel to Lindblum in order to speak with her Uncle Cid. As they journey, Zidane schools her the ways of appearing as a commoner, much to the disdain of Captain Adelbert Steiner. As the game continues, they grow closer and closer. Though I don't believe it's ever been officially confirmed, it can be reasonably assumed that they married following the events of the game and Lived Happily Ever After.)

(Aeris/th and Sephiroth are antagonists and Sephiroth ends up being Aeris/th's murderer. But her sacrifice is not in vain, for her prayer for Holy reached the Planet. The rest is left up to Cloud and company, who travel into the Northern Cave to defeat Sephiroth, allowing things to unfold from there.)

If you guys want to do another FF rumble, throw out some suggestions. I'm not really up for running the next one, though, so anyone who wants to take it up as leader should make it known.

On the subject of the next rumble, I can't do it, but I always liked the idea for the "create a character" rumble, or battle themes, or mini games--although all of those have been done before.



EDIT: Also, I hate to advertise across threads. I never do it. I just keep my info in my signature normally, but we are doing our 16th rumble over in the Video Game Music Rumble (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f63/official-video-game-music-rumble-66118/60.html#post2006728) thread, and it's a big one. I just wanted people to know, if they didn't already, that we're pitting video game music composers and their entire careers against one another. If you know a composer already, there's all kinds of bonus stuff to check out. And if you don't know a composer, included are a few of their best pieces to get a sense of their style. This is a big, blowout, everything I've got kind of thing. Put a lot of effort into it, and it'd be awesome to see some new (or old) faces. The more, the merrier. Plus, you may hear music you've never heard before and gain a new favorite composer. :D

<li>In each edition of the Rumble, a list of Final Fantasy things that are related in some way (such as music pieces, FMVs, etc.) is compiled, sometimes by me, sometimes with the help of nominations.
<li>Battles are held one-on-one in a series of round until things get down to one final battle, determining the winner for that edition of the Rumble.
<li>In the first round, ties are broken this way --- whichever entrant was winning before the battle ended continues to the next round. In rounds after that, tie-breakers are based on the percentage of votes than an entrant received in past rounds.
<li>Generally, each round is left open for 48 hours, but it might sometimes be more or less. The rumble is usually updated somewhere between 9 P.M. and 1 A.M. eastern time. Usually it won't go any longer except under special circumstances. If an entrant is winning by a blowout of four votes or more (formerly six votes), I will end that battle as soon as I notice it and a new battle what are dreams (http://www.theimmortalitysecret.com/what-are-dreams/) will immediately commence.

Okay, now for the new edition! We're going to be doing something a bit different here. My idea is to have a series of battles in brackets. There will be four brackets, with eight music pieces in each bracket, all fitting a certain category. In the first round, two pieces from each each bracket will battle each in turn, then there'll be three more goes at that at until there are sixteen pieces left. At that point, Round 2 will begin and things will be held like a normal rumble. No underrated/overrated stuff this time, you're voting for which ones you like, plain and simple.

Epilogue ~ Good Ending - Final Fantasy X-2 (A very joyful and triumphant piece that plays when you get the Good Ending for Final Fantasy X-2. Well, I wouldn't say that the entirety of the piece can be called joyful, but for the most part, it is. This is another one I really like, but then again, I'm a big fan of most of the pieces in this edition.)

Not sure you remember what a particular piece sounds like? There are MIDIs available at the main FFShrine site, but be aware that the quality of them varies greatly from piece to piece and for some games, not all songs are available. You might do better to check the game if you have it, or get an MP3, I suppose. Also, note that sometimes the names on the MIDIs don't quite match the names I use.


Do notice that there are four nomination spots, one for each bracket. Please, please, if you have any suggestions for what should fill those spots, post it with your votes. Your nominations can be from any Final Fantasy game, including Tactics or XI. Hell, I'd even be glad to throw in Kingdom Hearts if enough people say they'd be interested in seeing it.


P.S.: If this edition is pretty popular, I might do it again sometime --- there's a lot of pieces I wanted to include but had to pass on to at least try to mix things up a bit as far as the number of pieces from each game that were included.
