Well, that's it for another edition. So what's next? Well, I've been thinking of doing another anti-edition. We've already had Most Overrated Character (Sephiroth) and Most Boring/Annoying Subplot/Sidequest (dodging lightning bolts in the Thunder Plains.) Anyone have any thoughts on what else they might like to see for an anti-edition of this sort?

Also, will this include music from the spin-offs (like Dissidia, Crystal Chronicles, the Chocobo games, X-2, The After Years, Crisis Core, etc.)? Or just the main series?

Seems we are good to go with music. I'll probably start this again in about a week, so feel to make nominations up till then. You can include anything you want as long as it's Final Fantasy, but keep in mind that if it's not something that's generally known, it's less likely to get attention, and I suspect that's probably the case even in an edition like this.

It is Sephiroth's Theme and fuck Square for forgetting it.

The Wild West. Easily. I actually went and got all the rages (except the unobtainable ones like Allo Ver and Seigfried). Every Veldt-dive would take me hours to get everything available this far, and it wasn't until the second or third hour that I was driven to press mute. That NEVER happens, I rarely mute games because of repetitive music.

If it didn't play in the battles I'd appreciate it more.

Well I don't find any of the both tracks really annoying, I didn't played X-2 so I can't give an objective opinion about this, but Paine's Theme actually sounds really good, it's a nice Jazz Fusion track, though I agree completely, it appears to be that it has nothing to do with the character. But if this track Loops will be a very disturbing Ear Worm.
Based on that my vote goes for Paine's Theme.

Oh man both these themes annoy me in their own way. :D

Residents makes me nervous, or most likely due to the combination of the noises and the constant bumping into monsters.

Ashe's Theme is problematic if you start exploring the Sub-Terra in the Pharos, That's why I named it, because I started to hate the song because most of the time spent in that place is kill mobs to get the big black orbs in order to advance & that takes to much time, hence I get tired of the song.
No one else said anything about the song so maybe that's why it's still here...

I agree, but Ashe's Theme is kind of a two-parter, since it's got two halves that are very different from each other, and they each loop seperately in different parts of the game. There's the half in Giruvegan entrance gate, which is slow paced and hardly repetitive because it sounds cool and you don't spend much time there anyway, and there's the part that plays in the Subterra which is more catchy but you spend a long time there. It's all about which part you associate it with. Both parts are so different that it's hard to believe they're even part of the same track.
But the Subterra part never got on my nerves.

Both are cool tracks that quickly become an earworm, good battle. Cleyra Settlement because you hear it for longer. However, Heresy does have a good case for itself because while NORG is revealing all this complex plot-twist stuff, the music does a good job getting in the way of trying to think concentrate/comprehend what he's explaining. Especially toward the end of the loop... those piercing church organs hitting the same note eight times made it hard for me to follow what NORG was saying.

But Cleyra, while being a good track, has the ultimate downfall of having too short a loop which makes it repetitive. So, it has my vote.

I would vote both, because I found it equally annoying, but just because I hate FFIX I go for Cleyra Settlement

Cleyra Settlement. I liked FFVIII more than IX, both gameplay and soundtrack wise, so any questions about FFVIII vs FFIX, I will always vote in favor of VIII.

Rivals... I found that song unbearable, I could grind all day in FFVII with fighting, but just watching the scene with seifer at the beginning of CD2 & then go the tears point, makes my ears bleed.

Fighting I'm not a big fan of regular battle music, it's not that they're bad, it's just that it plays every single battle for the entire game and for that I find them awfully annoying.
