Setzer - Final Fantasy VI (Like any other FFVI character theme, it plays when you meet and name the character. I believe it's also used as the "walking about" theme while moving about onboard on at least one of his airships.)

Vivi's Theme (I'm pretty sure that this is the music that plays around the start of the game when you're first moving about throughout Alexandria as him. Can't think offhand of any other instances where it plays, though I'm pretty sure there are others where it does.)

Barret's Theme - Final Fantasy VII (I'm pretty sure this lively, upbeat theme is only used once -- when you wake up in Tifa's Seventh Heaven after resolving the big fight with Barret and then as walking-about music throughout up until you board the train.)

Jecht's Theme - Final Fantasy X (Played in situations involving Jecht and generally during the Jecht Sphere sequences. I think it went down recently over at the X Rumble. Might it fare differently here?)

Not too much of a contest here -- Jecht's more bluesy theme easily beats out the cheery Barret theme.

Shinra Corporation - Final Fantasy VII (It plays in many situations where Shinra brass show up -- such as one of the presidents flies into a situation via helicopter, or during the scene in which you learn that President Shinra is dead.)

Beatrix's Theme (Rose of May / Loss of Me) - Final Fantasy IX (The two names for the tune seem to show up about equally, though I'd never known it as anything other than "Rose of May" for quite a while. Anyway, not her battle theme -- "The Sword of Doubt / Mystery Sword." Instead, this theme plays during most non-battle related situations involving her, such as when she considers just what it is she is doing on the Red Rose, and when Zidane finally finds her in Alexandria after Baku says that he saw "that chick.")


Beatrix's Theme is a hugely popular favorite, but VII's music is well-liked too and I wouldn't be surprised to see Shinra Corporation put up a strong battle. Cast your votes!'


P.S.: A "programming note" of sorts -- FFVII themes are going to be showing up pretty much in every battle in the first round from here on out. It's just how it is, given the huge preponderance of themes from that game that made it into this edition of the rumble.

It's used throughout the recollection sequence when Shera recalls the events that led to the failure to launch the rocket. That's why I think of it as "Shera's Theme." It's also used in at least a couple of other situations throughout the game.)

This could be a big one. I'd say if there's any main difference, it's that "Descendant of the Shinobi" feels more joyful and lively to me. But both of these are recognized as being very good. ("Yuffie's Theme" made it onto Uematsu's Final Fantasy Songbook album as a vocal tune.) Cast your votes!

Yuffie's Theme. I really like both, but Yuffie's Theme is more upbeat and happens to be one of my favorite themes from FFVII. Plus, I'm learning it on the guitar. : )

What a battle. After pulling out to a very slight early lead, the piece known as "Yuffie's Theme" was unable to recover. So the one of Beatrix is the one that moves on.

I'm dying to know if I'm your type... I guess your... abilities... would be a distant 3rd." Terra: "......? What's with you, anyway? Edgar: "Guess my technique's getting a bit rusty..." Terra: "Hmmm... I suppose a normal girl would have found him dashing. But I'm hardly... normal...")

Steiner's Theme - Final Fantasy IX (Marcus: "I can't believe I got dragged into this." Steiner: "No one asked you to meddle in our affairs!" Marcus: "It's pretty sad, gettin' backstabbed by your own queen." Steiner: "This is all some kind of mistake! I know the queen! She would never betray me!" Marcus: "Wishful thinking! Who knows what she's gonna do to the princess..." Steiner: "...... I must save the princess at all costs!")



"Terra" has been something of a steamroller, but will it meet its match at the hands of the rather comic "Steiner's Theme?" Or will this tune just be another that is steamrolled? Cast your votes!
