1:27 sounds like a very familiar phrase but right now I can't remember what it reminds me off. This might be my favorite one from Suehiro so far, lots of Naoki Sato, Yugo Kanno and classical influences, ending on an impressionistic note:

Kenichiro Suehiro
Granbelm [TV Animation]
Studio Orchestra and Chorus

Sample (https://clyp.it/5f2jnydb)

A Tale of Two Moons (https://mega.nz/#!LldkEABL!ugMb3VT1bxz_nggVAJUhXHTkdvcmdcz2PpseQqJvxRM)

I bought it from a digital store and did the usual in trimming off the ambient tracks and putting the melodic ones into a sensible order, as always, how I would release the score on album, no changes to audio:

The whole unaltered soundtrack (if you want the ambient and purely electronic tracks) can be found here (https://hikarinoakariost.info/granbelm-original-soundtrack/).

The sound is the usual Suehiro orchestra, meaning that it should be a lot more powerful by the ensemble but thats business as usual.

Granbelm is a leitmotif-driven score (bordering on monothematic category) with a lot more Naoki Sato influences than usual (the melodic language reminds me of Heroic Age) and lots of long cues, including a seven minute final cue with an etherial touch with effective use of chorus. The action is his usual preference with synthetic drums and focus on rythmic motion, but with a lot more finesse than when he started out and much more classical. "Moment of Paranoia" has great energy and "Important person" and "Girls Intention" open and close the musical landscape of Granbelm in a classy and heartwarming fashion. There's also a lot of impressionistic influences throughout the score (Debussy etc.). He's really coming into his own in recent years and there's almost always enthusiasm by composers for originial anime projects so I'm eager where his journey will take him. Next up is his Fire Force witch I'm really looking forward to.

In any case, please enjoy.

As part of the year-long 30th anniversary celebration of Dragon Ball Z, Toei Animation Inc. and Sony Pictures Televisions Funimation announced today that the "Dragon Ball Symphonic Adventure", a one-of-a-kind concert experience, is coming to North America. Produced by Overlook Events and presented by AWR Music Productions, the "Dragon Ball Symphonic Adventure"combines scenes and sounds of Dragon Ball together with live vocals, a 60-piece orchestra and the music of legendary Japanese composer Shunsuke Kikuchi to create an immersive multimedia event for fans. Additional dates and locations to be announced.

Based on its Narrative Symphonic Experience concept, Overlook Events mixes a symphony orchestra with rock instruments, live vocals, sound effects and light synchronized to a compilation of Dragon Ball video excerpts projected on giant screens, following a strict narrative to create the "Dragon Ball Symphonic Adventure." The result is a concert experience that achieves a musical and technical mastery still very rare in an industry dominated by cinema-concerts.

Overlook describes their creative process: "As great enthusiasts of Akira Toriyama's saga, we spent long months carefully selecting and analyzing each scene to draw out the essence of the Dragon Ball story. While reconstructing each arc, each scene was thoughtfully set to new orchestrations of the classic music, to align with our Narrative Symphonic Experience concept. Nothing was left to chance. Now, we invite you to enjoy every minute of this concert experience, from the opening trumpet notes heralding the first transformation of Son Goku, ready to unleash his uncontrollable fury against the mighty Freeza."

This weekend I went to AnimeNYC, mainly to see Tomino. It was a fun time going to the three panels I wanted to see. The last one I went to see was the Gundam Reconguista panel where they showed the first of five films that retell Reconguista in G. I was fully prepared to regret my decision and find another disappointment when watching it. However it really is the fixed version of the series so far as I saw. They solved all of the pacing issues and addressed what confused people in a fluid and sensible motion. It was a very fun experience and it makes me think optimistically about the "pentology".

While the movie re-used the original tracks for the majority of the film, I think there were about 3 compositions from Yugo Kanno that I didn't remember from the TV series. So hopefully he'll be making more compositions for the later films.

Yugo mentioned that he would do more music for the Reconguista in G recap films in this tweet: https://twitter.com/yugokanno/status/1153965330856726528

Also, I'm hugely anticipating a release for his score for the third Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System film, which against all my expectations (seeing the first two) was quite orchestra / piano driven. I don't think there were any big symphonic moments like S1 and the movie did, but it was so good to see him do more than some sound design music.

That's great to hear. I love that Yugo Kanno is getting more work done. I don't know anything about music theory or composing, but I love listening to his compositions. The last two movies I went to see were both composed by Sawano, so seeing Greco was a breath fresh air in terms of sound.

Heh, Yugo is pretty overworked between various anime and live action works... Tbh I wish he had less work and that he could put more effort in individual projects. Still, it's very impressive that he still manages to make orchestral scores with all the work he got. Sure, not that great orchestral writing, but still way better than just going for "sound design" music.

You make a good point about wanting less shit on his plate. I actually didn't think of it that way.

Good news about new material for the G "Pentalogy". Since the films are released in close proximity to each other it should not be a long wait.

Sagimano's next project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0XGJGtaQh8

The twist... it's a musical (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1GvfytqwaQ&t=50s). Recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

I'm really feeling the happiness that I have created with my professionals, who are so passionate about music. I had been a musical “fanatic” even before there was a word like “Otaku”. So, with the help of professionals I really feel the happiness of having created a musical that I love so much since I was a child. It was also my own potential to make my music correspond to the wonderful vocal performance. It was a very rewarding job, and it was a dream job for the composer. In the summer of 2018, when I first heard about this movie from the first-time director, music began to sound in my head and never stopped. First of all, “singing as it is!” Is the essence of a musical. It should be the biggest attraction of this work that I was able to record with my friends and colleagues and all the performers happily at any time.

Title of the show/score could be translated as "Winds of the Ryūkyū Islands". "Dragon Spirit" is the tagline. According to the etymology, Ryūkyū was once a descriptive name for 'glazed horn-dragon', so therefore the tagline on the cover. Front cover and back cover from a Yahoo auction sale ^^"

Honky tonky wonky translation. I just noticed this useful Discogs. The last track is actually composed by Shinji Tanimura, so you have to re-tag that one ^^"

Definitely a lot better than Angel's Egg Guy's Taiga drama score (Thread 130680) :'D
