I have the Ost Queen Esmeraldas ^_______^
I would upload this, when somebody interest in this Ost
Ah, yes, this old anime. I remember it was aired long ago. The music is by Michiru Oshima, right? Then it must be really good.
Could you please upload the album, Billie? There are many fans of Michiru Oshima here.
Btw, "Tough As Nails" is very good, very adventurous.
"Spaceballs - Main Title (alternate)" is a nice (intended) pastiche of SW.
"Adventure Island" is really splendid. Sounds like good pirate music.
Thank you. :)

135 tracks - 10 hours of music (as opposed to the 57 tracks - 3 hours of the original soundtracks releases). According to Wikipedia, Howard Shore composed 12 hours of music for this trilogy (the last two have yet to be released, as far as I know). I hope you enjoy them.
The bitrate is variable (192 - 320kbps). I do have the actual discs, but in lossless the size is over 12GB... maybe you'll find a torrent of the lossless on Demonoid.
As we posted a lot of music related to LOTR, I remind everybody that ileferru posted this fantastic pack earlier in this thread.

One for Toshihiko Sahashi fans... My long awaited compilation...
TOSHIHIKO SAHASHI - ORCHESTRAL MUSIC
http://sharebee.com/46336c5e
http://sharebee.com/ec431f03
Born in Tokyo, in 1959, Toshihiko Sahashi has composed for television, anime, video games, the big screen, and the theatre. Sahashis comprehensive classical background, uncanny ability for orchestration, and diverse experience in all music genres give his scores variety and a truly unmistakable quality. Though he scores for a variety of instruments and in a variety of styles orchestral, metal, rock, J-Pop, jazz, world music, etc, this compilation focuses exclusively on his impressive body of symphonic music. Frequently working within the confines of a feeble television music budget, often with less-than stellar musicians and inadequate studio facilities, his orchestral music is nonetheless superb Sahashi consistently writes rousing, traditional scores that function excellently both as a flawless complement to the on-screen action, and as a satisfying standalone listening experience.
1. Koi ni Ochitara (2005)
Beginning this compilation is Sahashis score to the TV drama Koi ni Ochitara. A prototypical Sahashi theme; noble and militaristic.
2. Swan no Baka (2007)
This TV comedy drama features some lovely orchestral music particularly the warm love theme heard in the latter half of this suite. Inspired by 1930s American jazz (theres definitely a Gershwin vibe here) it is a lovely dreamy piece for full orchestra.
3. Gundam Seed (2002)
Sahashi is undoubtedly most famous for his anime music. His scores for Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny (2004) are both magnificent. These scores were re-recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, Sahashi himself conducting, for the popular Symphony Seed albums this track, however, is from the original television soundtrack recording. Budgetary constraints are evident, and the television sized orchestra really isnt ideally suited to this larger-than-life cinematic musical tour-de-force. It is nevertheless a fine work.
4. Chiritotechin (2007)
Sahashis more tender, lyrical side is most evident in this TV family drama.
5. Black Blood Brothers (2006)
This short suite begins with propulsive action music, a classically inspired middle section, and concludes with a soaring romantic theme for strings.
6. Ultraman Mebius (2006)
Back in slightly more familiar territory, Ultraman Mebius featured a predominantly orchestral score and was blessed with a fair sized ensemble. Rhythmically unstable action music and growling brass predominate the first half of this suite it concludes with heroic victory music.
7. Great Decisive Battle! The Super 8 Ultra Brothers (2008)
The latest theatrical Ultraman feature has been highly anticipated - it unites eight Ultramen from previous series in an exciting 40th Anniversary tribute to the franchise. Sahashis responsibility was enormous but suffice to say, his score succeeds completely. He quotes themes from previous Ultraman shows and films, and ties it up into a magnificent symphonic package superbly performed by an uncharacteristically large orchestra. This cue is entitled Final Battle.
8. Gunslinger Girl (2003)
A very Italian flavour is present in this score melancholy and showing off more of Sahashis diverse background with more very classical-style pieces, often quoting Verdi.
9. Gundam Seed Destiny (2004)
A bigger orchestra and more money greeted Sahashi when he signed on for the sequel series to 2002s Gundam Seed. He responded with this superb score grand and melodic, taking full advantage of the larger ensemble.
10. Simoun (2006)
Here is a full orchestral romance once again, classically inspired, and incredibly powerful.
11. The Big O (1999 / 2003)
Sahashi provided another American-flavoured score for this film-noir style anime series his diverse background once again coming to the forefront, with this fine mixture of full orchestra, with a great big helping of sultry jazz harmonies.
12. Fatal Fury (The Motion Picture) (1994)
This score one of Sahashis first - feels slightly more active than most of Sahashis music whereas his style is usually broad, stately, and powerful, Fatal Fury is a little more playful and busy in a way, it feels reminiscent of John Williams orchestral acrobatics. It is also notable as the only Sahashi score I am aware of to include a (small) real choir.
13. Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi (2008)
Another fine score delivered for this TV drama a bouncy, militaristic, major key theme with a ravishing finish, complete with woodwind trills, rolling timpani, and brass fanfares.
14. Ultra Daikaiju Battle (2008)
Stylistically very reminiscent of 2005s Gundam Seed Destiny, Sahashi delivers a full-throated orchestral score for this live action Ultraman TV series.
15. Full Metal Panic (2003)
This suite from the anime series begins with some darker, suspenseful music and concludes with another glittering Sahashi finale for full orchestra.
16. Steel Angel Kurumi (1999)
A very generous music budget is evident in the score of this anime series. This five and a half minute cue underscored the superb final episode reprising major themes, alluding to the theme song (itself a Sahashi composition) and finishing off this powerful series with a wonderful, rousing, piece for large orchestra.
17. Blue Stinger (1999)
Like Fatal Fury, this game score is full of activity its lovely to hear Sahashi just having a good time with his orchestra, bouncing themes around with dexterity, dropping in those lovely trills and flourishes, and bathing the whole thing in warm symphonic colour making Blue Stinger a splendid rousing piece with which to conclude this album.
Enjoy :)

Here's something I thought I'd contribute. I don't know if it classifies as Orchestral, but it's rare enough, as an OST doesn't exist for where it's from - Shadow Raiders: War Planets. I really wish an OST existed, but it doesn't, so I had to lift this myself from the credits. It's one of my favorite soundtracks for sure. Beast Wars (The show) is also on that list, which you can't get, either.

And to add to that is a piece from the Hellsing OVA OST which is also excellent in my eyes, Gradus Vita.

This was the compilation I had discussed months ago, when you told me how much you hate compilations and suites. ;)
I thought it was the right time to post it - and I was deliberately holding off until his score for the latest Ultraman feature was released.
I wanted to cover a broad range of his music - not just his anime scores, but his music for the big screen, television drama, and video games. A versatile fellow, if ever there was one.
Oh what a phenomenal register of Musictracks, dannyfrench. i like your explanation to your Tracklist, so great!
I listen this music carefully and enjoy ^^, thank you very much for your upload
It's a pleasure - hope you enjoyed it. :)
I always like to talk a bit about the music, rather than simply posting it - I hope this doesn't annoy anybody too much.
I have a "Symphonic Yoko Kanno" compilation coming up - and unlike the other excellent, but erroneously titled "Selected Orchestral Works" album uploaded some months ago, this one is actually 100% orchestral! She's a thief, pure and simple - but (it has to be acknowledged) a thief of impeccable taste! -- Pretty much every note is pure gold, regardless of the original source - and so it definitely fits in with the purpose of this thread. :)
All the best, ladies and gentlemen - I'm off to bed.

I've been lurking here for a while, and I think I posted but never delivered regarding the Giant Robo anime soundtracks.
So, I decided to make up for this and actually post something this time. Feel free to skip my rambling and get to the goods. They'll be at the bottom of this post. :)
I've been a fan of the One Piece series for a few years -- both the manga and the animated adaptation.
A lot of people on fandom forums place fault on the anime at times. Being a long-running series, the budget usually isn't the best and this can reflect in the animation. Fans also bring up pacing issues employed to keep the cartoon from overtaking the original comic.
However!
I think there is one thing nearly every fan of One Piece agrees on regarding the anime -- the soundtrack.
It's an interesting and whimsical mix of orchestrated and electronic pieces, and I enjoy listening to it quite a lot.
I lost most of my One Piece stuff when I decided to reformat my drive, but as I reacquired the music I realized that a lot of it would be absolutely perfect for this thread.
So I decided to throw together a little sampler pack of One Piece's music.
There's a bit of everything in here. I labeled the songs based on what soundtrack they came from. Some come from the movies (though the movie soundtracks are used in the TV series quite often!), and some come from the few discs of music released early in the series' run of music strictly for the TV show.
I tried to keep it strictly orchestral, but some synth might have snuck in there. For tracks with more than one song included, I've cut out the non-applicable song. (However, the conversion caused a loss of quality.)
Anyway, without further ado -- the One Piece Orchestral Sampler! If this gets good reception, I may try and do some more, perhaps with specific themes.

Thanks for posting, Spandam. :)
One Piece features some remarkable music indeed. A story based on piracy and adventure is a great base to make grand and inspiring orchestral music.
It's a good thing though to credit the composers for their fascinating music. The score of One Piece has been written by two great composers, several times quoted in this thread: Kouhei Tanaka and Shiroh Hamaguchi, both being among my favorite eastern composers. I've uploaded some cues by Shiroh Hamaguchi long ago in this thread HERE (
http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1119762&postcount=68).
I'm sure the visitors of this thread who don't know this music will be delighted to listen to your compilation. That's what I try to do here, introduce new music and new composers to everybody.
Thanks again!

Wow, way to disrespect every single person who's contributed to this thread! No offensive, but what have you contributed, except barely coherent rudeness, and complaints?
Anyway, the thread has clearly evolved beyond the original title - which is actually "THE BIG ORCHESTRAL ACTION MUSIC THREAD!" - not "epic action orchestra music" - the original poster has made this point completely clear in the very first post of the thread. This thread is mostly about good music. The gentleman even posted a pack especially for you (in response to more your brusque rudeness) and you told him you hated every single bit of it. Forgive me if I don't pay you a great deal of respect.
Finally, there *is* a great deal of action music being posted - I posted a massive bunch of it myself in the Sahashi pack just two days ago...

I believe it's quite clear that the gentleman was being ironic. It's fairly obvious what he was getting at and why he phrased it like that. His post was ambiguous, but I think yours was a little condescending.
AND NOW: To keep everybody happy - here's the original piece from Braveheart - "The Secret Wedding" as composed and conducted by James Horner, and performed by The London Symphony Orchestra...

Billie: your Island of Kings is quite a superb epic piece; the choral part really adds some greatness. I really like this one. Heart Of The Volunteer is a nice moving piece, it sounds like a requiem (well, maybe it is…). Thank you for your great posts. :) I'll try the one you just posted and comment later.
Qqqqqqwe: the Iwasaki piece is fantastic! I really like this composer and quite appreciate the fact you posted a piece played by a real orchestra. Thank you very much. :)

Fatal Fury (The Motion Picture) (1994)
This score – one of Sahashi’s first - feels slightly more active than most of Sahashi’s music – whereas his style is usually broad, stately, and powerful, Fatal Fury is a little more playful and busy – in a way, it feels reminiscent of John Williams’ orchestral acrobatics. It is also notable as the only Sahashi score I am aware of to include a (small) real choir.
Listen to Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny ost III. I included a piece of it in my choral pack.

OK, I'm sorry if I was a bit snitchy. It's just that I see a lot of people making a lot of effort in here, and pretty much all you do is complain because it's not all to your liking, and demand more.
Your tastes seem to be very particular, and it's difficult to know what you'll like - I think everybody would like to help you, but it's hard to know just what you're after when all you've said to the last pack was "I didn't like any of them!" and then reappear minutes later saying "Where is the action music?!" -- there's a lot of brilliant stuff here, but some of the best stuff you don't seem to have noticed - possibly because you expect a different kind of "epic action" than what the majority of us are posting. You'd do very well to just download everything, to be honest - there's bound to be something in there you'll fancy.

Just a little reminder:
This thread is devoted to Orchestral Music, which means:
- Music played by a real symphonic orchestra (even a small one),
OR
- Music composed in an orchestral style (but in that case not necessarily by real musicians, like for instance most scores by Sakimoto)
So if a cue isn't in one of these categories it's not meant to be posted here. There are other threads where you can post it. This is not a reproach, only a quick reminder of the speciality of this thread.

This score is awesomely orchestrated and performed, but it also borrows a lot from Mahler, Prokofiev, and Herrmann. Oh well, still very good stuff. And yeah, the Requiem bit is genius. I think Lennie Moore helped out a bit with this one too. You can see the similarities to his Outcast score (also performed by the Moscow Symphony.)

Well, as we speak of it, here it is:

"An acclaimed documentary about the development of nuclear weapons charting the progress of mankind's most destructive idea from the first tests in the New Mexico desert through China's development of its own bombs, Trinity and Beyond is narrated by William Shatner and attracted praise from all quarters on its release in 1997. Directed by Peter Kuran, who made his name as a visual effects man at Industrial Light and Magic (working on Star Wars was something of a big break!), he saw good music as being paramount to his film and so wisely enlisted the services of William Stromberg, not a household name to the general public, but certainly one to lovers of classic film scores." Hello ladies and gents - just a quick one today as I'm a bit strapped for time. :)
I can pretty much guarantee that nobody has ever heard this one before. It's the 1990 theme tune to BBC Radio Suffolk (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suffolk). It's not used any more (it was replaced around 1997) and was never released - this track comes from one of the playout CDs as used by the DJ live on the air.
I would imagine that the full piece was heard very rarely - possibly only during technical problems, or poorly timed startups - a pity, because it's a wonderful piece - a fine seven minute symphony.
Anyway - here you go. The composer is Paul Hart. The orchestra and conductor are both uncredited - I would imagine it's one of the BBC's in-house symphony orchestras, but who knows?

It’s a selection of cues which are generally used for a big battle versus a gigantic, mighty, ferocious foe, usually a Boss or the Last Boss. All cues come from anime scores. Needless to say this pack is loaded with epic, grandiose and powerful cues. The intensity of some of them is just amazing!
Another very interesting thing to try: you should listen to this compilation while watching this video:
DMC4 Berial Boss Battle in DMD + Cut Scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT2AZ3SjHAc
This scene really matches the music and thus gives you a richer and more accurate experience. You’ll even probably have some goose pimples while playing the music during the video! Quite fun!
EDIT: I just noticed that Sagisu Shirou - EVANGELION 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE - Showdown.mp3 is corrupted. Sorry, here's a clean version:

Good idea, really, thanks for proposing, but it would be way too complicated to list all tracks and packs posted here (this thread is HUGE!), and if I do this only for my packs it would be unfair for the other posters.
Also I consider this thread more like a journal where people get each day new stuff to read and download (of course they can consult older posts - and they do!). By difference to some other threads where you have the main content in frontpage and then some comments and requests.
Rogue Hunter is very nice, it has a modern feel, like it could be used in a movie like Blade Runner. Thanks!
Hope you like my last pack! ;)

Once again you pulled a RARE orchestral treat out of your pocket. Thank you for your great posts. This piece has very classical style, it sounds like a 1st or 4th movement of a symphony. Beautiful!
It's a pleasure as always - glad you like it. You're right, it almost feels like a part of a symphony - and it's rare to hear contemporary orchestral music written in such a quintessentially English style.
Streich: It's funny that you should post that particular track - undoubtedly the most intense, hardcore piece of action scoring ever orchestred... For I have been slowly composing a similar piece in the style of Satie, and have (as a result) been listening to almost nothing but the Gymnopedies this past couple of days!
ok so plz can i have what im looking for i have all movie ost even the new film coming out ill upload them for all if you want if you upload what im looknig for
Buddy, everybody here is busting their bollocks trying to help you and I really think that patience is wearing thin - if indeed it hasn't completely worn out already. Since nothing anybody is posting is *anywhere* near your increasingly bizzare (and narrow) definition of "action music", I'm tempted to say you're looking in the wrong place. About 90% of the music here is orchestral action music - it's hardly anybody's fault if it's not exactly the right kind of thing you like; since nobody except you appears to understand what you're going on about half the time, maybe YOU should go searching for this music YOURSELF?
qqqqqqwe: Arthur B. Rubinstein, eh? I'll take your SMOKING GUN II, and raise you a Helicopter Pursuit from Wargames. ;)
http://sharebee.com/f79ad6b0
Sanico: Thanks for the Morricone - a true great. On this, his 80th birthday, Maestro Morricone has announced that he is scoring Quentin Tarantino's new film, Inglorious Bastards. It'll be his first Hollywood score since Mission to Mars in 1996, assuming it doesn't get rejected... :)
Edit: Billie781, thank you for the Carl Davis - SUPERB piece, superb composer!

Billie: Champion's Theme.mp3 from Carl Davis is magnificient. The use of the piano along with the orchestra in this piece adds a lot of emotion and makes it look like a piano concerto. If you have more from Carl Davis please post!
dannyfrench: I should clearly listen more to Rubinstein's music! Wonderful action piece. Looks like Goldsmith sometimes.

Definitely a lot of Goldsmith in Rubinstein's music! It's a great pity he didn't do more big-scale scores. Wargames and Hypersapien in particular, are absolutely superb, and rare examples of what he can do with a big orchestra.
Now, gentlemen - prepare yourselves, for I am about to do something out of character. I have not been kidnapped by aliens, and I am not being controlled by the Hypnotoad. I just *really* like this score...
...So, I am posting this short suite of music from Idol Master Xenoglossia, composed by Saitou Tsuneyoshi.
This is a synthesiser / orchestra hybrid score - there wasn't enough money for a full orchestra, so the inevitable compromises were made - Xenoglossia has a real strings section (probably twenty or so players,) a couple of woodwinds - the rest is synthesised. Tsuneyoshi is no fool, however - his score is very aware of the limitations of his ensemble, and so is very strings-centric. And it's so melodic and playful that, even when you feel you should be cringing at the sampled brass and flutes, you just can't help but love it - for instance, at 2:08 - everything is fake except for the repeating string figure. But it just flies along so wonderfully.
Hope you like it. It's one of my favourites, and that's saying something, coming from Mr "I Hate F**king Synthesisers" :)

Wow! Imagine what it could look like with a big orchestra! Sounds very good anyway, this guy knows how to get the maximum out of the limited means he has. The busy, swirling strings are awesome here.
Superb piece, thanks! :)

A true gem, a great (and long!) moment of orchestral splendour. I'm a big fan of timpanis, I like their low, profound, pounding, rumbling sound. This piece really put them in the front and gives them a lot to perform. So a special praise for the timpanists here, great, great performance.

Wow, talk about short memory!
Dear fellow, you insulted everybody here a few hours ago with your "boring" and now you're asking for albums. That's not a smart move.
And I already told you: I can not help you. I already made 3 packs for you (including the horror pack) and the least we can say is that your response wasn't what one can call "polite". So I ask you to go find what you need in other threads.

I donno man, I think the music in these is amazing and I would like to again thank arthierr for sharing them with us and commend him on his wonderful taste in music!
I'm sorry if they don't fill your rather strict needs but this is a place for us to share orchestral music with each other and not a place to fill orders. So badgering people for what you want and then telling everyone what they do upload sucks is rude and inappropriate to arthierr and everyone else here. If you don't like the music being posted then don't download it and especially don't criticize it just because it's not what you specifically want.
But I digress...

Another orchestral pack... This time, adhering to no particular theme or genre - we have film, anime, game, classical, musical...
Part One:
http://sharebee.com/0cb66632
Part Two:
http://sharebee.com/81c61de2
Akira Senju - Walkure Story (Act 1)
One of my favourites - I have never heard of Walkure Story is, but I understand that Akira Senju composed this symphony based upon themes from the game. It's a fine piece, firmly in Senju's style, and sumptuously performed by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra.
Conrad Pope - Under The Moon (Home At Last and Family Reunited)
Pope does a mean John Williams impression in his score for Under The Moon. (Anybody know anything about this film? IMDB draws a blank!) Bordering on plagiarism (Superman Love Theme, anybody?) it's nevertheless a lovely sumptuous piece, and a rare outing for Pope (one of Hollywood's most sought-after orchestrators) as a composer in his own right.
Don Davis - Hyperspace (After the Brain Drain - Just Browsing)
Just have a listen to what Don Davis was doing in 1984! This was his first "major" score - until then he had been working principally as an orchestrator. The orchestra is pathetic, and the budget is clearly low - but Davis nevertheless turned out a fine score; Williamseque acrobatics abound, but this is still Davis through and through - shadows of The Matrix are quite audible (4:20) - proof of Davis' great compositional maturity.
Eric Rogers - What A Carry On
Disclaimer One: I hate the Carry On series with a passion and vehemence that I don't think I can adequately bring over in writing - you'd have to see my face to appreciate just how deep my loathing for these dispicable cinematic horrors goes. Disclaimer Two: This is very jazzy.
That said, this suite of music - performed live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007, by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by John Wilson, is an absolute joy. Eleven minutes of quintessentially British fun, performed with much gusto by this classical symphony orchestra. My fiancee and I were both present in the audience for this concert - and our applause can be heard. :)
Jay Greenberg - Symphony No 5 (Finale)
A real prodigy, the American Jay Greenberg composed (and orchestrated) this symphony in 2005, a the age of THIRTEEN. A wonderful neo-romantic work, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jose Schreiber.
Joe Hisaishi - Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Little Sisters)
Well, everybody knows Hisaishi - but I just had to include this piece, because I love it so much. Ponyo as a film disappointed me, but it nevertheless has its share of magnificent moments, and Hisaishi's score (whilst sadly not his very finest work) is a beautiful, Vaughan-Williams inspired ode to the sea.
John Williams - Cello Concerto (First Movement)
Composed in 1994, this is a fine piece of concert hall music by the great John Williams. A fascinating mixture of his 1970's style, his maturing minimalism-inspired 1990's style, and his uncompromising classical style of earlier years, this is a wonderful showpiece for cello and orchestra. Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma (cello) and conducted by the Composer.
Koichi Sugiyama - Brave Fight (Dragon Quest VI)
A superb bit of action from the master of game music - performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the Composer.
Leonard Bernstein - Candide Overture
Very famous piece to classical afficianados, if you're still not familiar with it, trust me, you'll love it. Five minutes of pure orchestral joy - an outpouring of Americana, grand melody, and superb orchestration. My sincerest apologies - I do not know what orchestra is playing on this recording.
Masamichi Amano - Pitcher With The Golden Left Arm, Her Name Is Ryo Hayakaya! (Princess Nine)
One of those miracle scores in the world of anime - Amano composed a fine orchestral work and recorded it with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. Not the kind of music you'd expect from a television cartoon about a girls' baseball club... But where the Japanese are concerned, I have learned to always expect the unexpected.
Olivier Messiaen - Turangalila Symphony (Finale)
Watch out, folks - if you don't like modern classical music, you might want to avoid this. It's nowhere near as abrasive as some - but if your interest is primarily film music, its style may take some getting used to. To describe it in non-musical terms, and to grossly oversimplify, I can only say it's completely insane, absolutely gargantuan, evocative, beautiful, and deeply erotic - all at once. This excellent performance is performed by the Bastille Opera Orchestra, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, with Yvonne Loriod (Messaien's widow) at the piano, and Jeanne Loriod (her sister) playing the Ondes Martinot.
Seiko Sato and Tsutomu Shimizu - The Legendary Warriors (The War Emperor Of Ki)
I don't know if anybody outside of Japan has ever heard of this game - but the main theme (as performed by the third Orchestral Game Concert, by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra) is absolutely superb.
Shirou Hamaguchi - Abareru Megami (Ah My Goddess - The Movie)
A fine score by Hamaguchi, performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. Not - I repeat - NOT - by Nobuo Uematsu (as some commentators seem to insist upon!)
Victor Young - Around The World In 80 Days (Sioux Attack)
Finally, here's a bit of Golden Age splendour to finish off with - eight minutes of breathtaking action music, the way they did it in 1956 - light hearted (many tongue in cheek classical quotes near the end) and simultaneously very powerful. Victor Young conducts the studio orchestra.
Enjoy :)

Seven Swords (Qi Jian)
A really great, awesome and splendid Soundtrack, composed by Kenji Kawai, i love the epic in these pieces, enjoy ^^
More infos about the movie -->> Seven Swords Movie (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Swords)
Composer: Kenji Kawai
Label: EMI Music Hong Kong
Release Date: 2005
Total duration: 69:32
From a review by Randall Larson (the full review: here (
http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/review.asp?ID=5738))
Kenji Kawai's music for Seven Swords is a large symphonic composition emphasising Western instrumentation. A few ethnic instruments (notably, quena [Andean flute], shinobue [Japanese flute], souna [Chinese trumpet, aka laba], and shanai [Indian trumpet]) are present to provide an indirect sonority to the film’s period and ethnicity, but otherwise the scoring is fairly standard symphonic. In addition, a small children’s chorus (divided into gender groups) is used to very good effect.

Edit: I should try Avalon, then...
Yes, you should. ;)
The film is unquestionably a masterpiece. If you're at all familiar with the work of Mamoru Oshii, you'll know what to expect. The score is flawless - as I've said before, though I generally dislike Kawai, Avalon is right up there at the top of my list of favourites.
Here's the track that *everybody* always talks about - it's the End Credits. There is so much more to Avalon - but this is a nice little taster package. I'm sorry - I'd upload the whole thing tonight, but I'm so tired... Tomorrow, definitely. :)
Kenji Kawai
Avalon (Log In)
http://sharebee.com/ce3d1a16
Performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra (bizzarely referred to as both "Warsaw Philharmonic The National Orchestra and Choir of Poland" and "Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra" at different places in the end credits of the film!) conducted by Jerzy Sbowoda (also from the end credits of the film - there is no such person; his name is Jerzy Swoboda!)
Sorry - that's wrong! A lot of the score is performed by the Warsaw orchestra - however, this particular track was recorded at the Japanese session; performed by the Studio Orchestra - no conductor is credited. Perhaps it was Kawai. Sorry for the mis-information!
It was a great pleasure to me, my friend ^^, more from Kenji Kawai? XD
I'd gratefully receive any recommendations you may have. :)
Good night everybody - I'm off to bed too.

Okay since I have the attention span as anyone with schizophrenia does, plus I've been busy, I'm going to go ahead and post the first fragment of my compilation. This portion is entitled Blood of Azkazar. It's not completely orchestral, but it's mostly orchestral, with a few other things thrown in that fit the general theme of the compilation (music I write my novel to). Some of it is old, some is new, maybe you'll find something unfamiliar. I am posting it elsewhere as well so it's not completely tuned to the audience in this thread. My apologies if this drives you into a bloodthirsty frenzy or causes you to feel completely alienated from life, inducing suicide or homicidal tendencies. Just send me pix of the carnage afterwards!
There is a mix of action and softer tracks, including some traditional Bulgarian pieces (Which I suppose would count as bulgarian orchestral... maybe?).
As promised, I will not impale you with troublesome wait times or ads.
clicky for teh dounlodez (
www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/Blood of Azkazar.rar)
This holds some of my favorite tracks. Along with a tracklist, I'll also provide a basic summary of my feelings on the pieces.
01 - Hellsing OVA - Song of DEMETER ;
I have a soft spot for good, soft choral pieces like this. They help me settle my mind, something that no drug or physical event can offer. They also help me sleep. This is from Hellsing OVA OST that I was able to recently acquire, so it's not relatively old, but it's good enough that it deserves its place within the Fury Unofficial Soundtrack.
02 - The Witcher - The Dike;
A slighter older but still very excellent piece that deserves a mention. The effect is the same as other like-minded tracks; it helps me rest after weeks, months, years of no release.
03 - The Witcher - River of Life;
Like the two above, this is one of my most favorite tracks in soundtrack history.
04 - Unknown - AEMIntro2;
I found this in a Star Wars: Empire at War mod and immediately fell in love with it. It's relatively simple, but makes excellent background. If I was still modding, I would use this instantly. I have no idea where it's really from, though. I was never fond of star wars music before and this sounds very different from what I've heard of previously.
05 - Advent Rising - Bounty Hunter;
I'm hard to catch when it comes to games. Advent Rising was decent but like most other titles didn't hold my interest long. The soundtrack sure did, though! A decent action piece I've used in mods and videos before.
06 - Lair -Battle For Asylia;
To me, Lair is the greatest soundtrack ever made, and the Battle for Asylia is the best piece in the entire thing. That makes this track the single greatest orchestral music I've ever heard. Most orchestral action tracks are too cheesy, happy, or "weak" for me. This is everything I could ask for.
07 - Soul Calibur 4 - Stage 20;
This is a metally piece from SC4. Typically I am not very fond of metal action because it's way too cheesy and overused. This is fairly unique, however, a combination of metal and orchestral that is actually quite decent, and shines above and beyond the rest of the game's music. I used it in my last dead Starcraft mod, In The Admiral's Service.
08 - Enclave - Dark 01 B;
Sometimes I just download random soundtracks or gamerips, especially if they're considered rare, and the name catches my eye. OrangeC's rip of Enclave was one such random collection and I was really pleased by it. I'd consider this piece to describe me as a person in real life very well, and it's my favorite in the entire collection.
09 - Basil Poledouris - Gift of Fury;
Old school Conan. I used this in mods in the old days and it's one of the tracks that has aged very well. Every time I hear of it, it reminds me of six years ago, when I was still in my prime. Those were the days, free of worry...
10 - Viking Battle for Asgard - The Battle for Holdenfort;
I love this entire soundtrack, but I couldn't pull too much out of it as they are fairly similar. So I used this track to convey the entire collection of Viking: Battle for Asgard, a decent enough game with a very good soundtrack for my needs.
11 - Age of Conan - Nighttime Journey Through the Eiglophian Mountains;
Never once cared to look at the game, but curiousity got me to download the soundtrack, and I was not disappointed.
12 - Dead Can Dance - Summoning Of The Muse;
After watching The Mist, the last track in the end of the movie had me scrambling to find out what it was, and where it was from. It was, of course, Host of the Seraphim by Dead Can Dance. After locating everything they've made, I came across this track - one of the most amazing choral pieces I've ever heard. I use this to help me sleep a lot.
13 - Тебе поем;
I'm not just a fan of westernized orchestral, but also traditional Bulgarian. Joseph LoDuca can be blamed for that - his oldschool music with bulgarian flare (Hercules, Xena) were excellent and this lead me on a very difficult and challenging hunt for more of it. Although I don't imagine the words are so, this choral track sounds very sad and solemn, and it fits me well.
14 - Fly, fly my sadness - 01 - Fly, fly my sadness;
I opted to keep this in its original flac quality because of how incredible it is. It represents me, right now, very well. I'm lost, without any direction, or reason to continue. I just keep walking where ever the wind takes me.
14 - Journey To Celestis;
I'd never heard of the new Stargate movie until someone mentioned it to me, I tend to be like that, so I had to see it. After I saw it, I had to find the soundtrack. This is my favorite in the collection and has served me well at key times.
15 - Isihia - Preobrazhenie;
Isihia is the only band I've been able to locate that's made traditional Bulgarian-style orchestralish music. Getting these tracks was not easy.
16 - Isihia - Gospodi vozvah
Same as above.
17 - Dawn of War - Chant;
A chant. One of the few tracks from Dawn of War that really show what Jeremy Soule can do.
18 - Xena - Spirit Dance;
This is awesome.
19 - King Arthur - Into The Battle;
I'm not much of a fan of Zimmer's general work, as it's all literally copy pasta, but King Arthur is completely unique and is one of my favorite movie soundtracks (It's also an awesome movie). I have many versions of the soundtrack; this is a lower-quality portion of a much larger piece, separated by some bafoon, but it's the one part I wanted to showcase, so here it is.
20 - Splendors Reclaimed by the Desert;
A part of a collection I randomly downloaded from Newsbin back when it actually still worked. It's surprisingly good.
21 - Icewind Dale Theme;
All of the soundtracks from the infinity engine games are way ahead of their times, far outmatching any RPG's released since. These are masterpieces, it's just unfortunate I can't get the Baldur's Gate 1-2 soundtracks in a quality above 24kbps or whatever they were originally saved as, because their quality is HORRIBLE. Luckily my icewind dale music isn't so bad.
22 - Icewind Dale - Bonus Track 03;
A cool bonus track.
23 - God of War 2 - Typhon Mountain;
Most modernized game soundtracks, ie gears of war, mass effect, crysis ect are very, very boring and unimaginative to me. God of War, on the other hand, was something new and powerful and I really liked it. This is my favorite track from GoW2 that helped me at points.
24 - Vangelis - Eternity;
Most Vangelis stuff sounds fairly cheesy to me for some reason, but the collection this is from is outstandingly awesome. I just wish this track wasn't so short, because it's one of my favorite pieces of all time. I can't say enough about this track. It's so short, but it's so powerful for me.
25 - Chaos Legion - maintitle;
Another choral piece from Chaos Legion, the main menu. Unlike the metal-oriented level themes, this is very tame, and very calming.
26 - runis_of_bone_hill;
Another random track I found in my ageless search. The rest of the compilation wasn't as outstanding as this one.
These tracks are a tiny portion of a library spanning over 100gb of soundtracks I've scoured for over the years. They represent my taste in music and what I've used to help control my mental energy when it comes to intensive tasks such as sleeping, writing, and getting through each day. As a schizic and who I am as a person, they each represent a portion of my life, whether very recent, or very old, or somewhere inbetween, and they each hold power.

Very impressive list, thank you. More comments this weekend.

Blood+
This theme for Diva is probably one of the best things to come out of Media Ventures, at least since Steamboy. It's dark and shifts to unexpected minor harmonies, similar to Elfman's style.
Memories
Yoko Kanno does Madam Buterfly (why is the correct spelling censored?) and Prokofiev. It's not as structured as her other works, but definitely different from her usual orchestral fare.

Hey guys, I posted this a while ago in The Film Score/VGM Hunt thread but it was kinda overlooked (who can blame them though). So,(even though it isn't orchestral or action-like) Im posting it here: Richard Eisenhorn composition for the film La Passion de Jeanne D'Arc by Dreyer. Not really a soundtrack.

In fact when I red "even though it isn't orchestral or action-like" I was perplex, because if it's not, then it has nothing to do in this thread. Happily, when I browsed through the tracks I heard it IS indeed orchestral (string orchestra, choir, and some other instruments). There's even a nice amount of action in some tracks (particularly in the last one, which is superb).
It's a beautiful, profound, highly dramatic orchestral choral score. You can be assured that many people here will appreciate it. Thanks for this post. :)

A little suggestion though: this thread is HUGE (in fact it's one of the threads with the most replies) and I noticed that people tend to visit frequently the older pages, so I suggest you put a cover or an image showing what your post is about. Oh, Billie, what an awesome selection. So inspired, so tasteful.
Finale from DragonHeart, Composer: Randy Edelman 5:30
I'm not a fan of Edelman to say the truth, but his score for this movie is pretty good, and quite superior to what he does usually (well, the context helps, hard to score badly a fantasy movie - except Morricone's Red Sonja, of course). He wrote a very beautiful theme, remarkably well developed in the cue you selected.
Romantic Marian from Robin Hood, Men in Tights, Composer: Hummie Mann 0:49
Short but incredibly good! As I said before it's one of the most beautiful melodies I've heard. I wish a talented composer and orchestrator composes a 5 minute piece based upon this melody. Streich... ?
Winnebago - MegaMaid from Spaceballs, Composer: John Morris 2:25
I didn't know this one and it's really superb. I saw the movie but strangely enough the score didn't catch my attention, probably because I laughed too loud! Great one!
Main Title (alternate) from Young Sherlock Holmes, Composer: Bruce Broughton 1:59
Broughton is an exceptional symphonist who didn't get as many appointment as he deserved. This piece is a perfect example of how good he can be when he gets to have an orchestra.
Age of Magic from Merlin, Composer: Trevor Jones 14:33
What a fantastic choice! 7:49 is one of the most impressive, grandiose, phenomenal cues I've heard since Krull.
The Sword Maker from 13th Warrior, Composer: Jerry Goldsmith 2:10
One of my favorite scores. This cue is special because it's a perfect combination of grace AND power. Generally elegance and and brutality are opposite, but here they harmoniously co-exist.
As One Tales End...from Forbidden Kingdom, Composer: David Buckley 2:45
Reminds me a bit of the Touch. Nice theme, very catchy.
End Credits from Braveheart, Composer: James Horner 7:15
Horner said it's the score he's the most proud of. This is pure orchestral grace and elegance, and an highly inspired movie score.
Many thanks for this great selection. :)

This holds some of my favorite tracks. Along with a tracklist, I'll also provide a basic summary of my feelings on the pieces.
01 - Hellsing OVA - Song of DEMETER ;
02 - The Witcher - The Dike;
A slighter older but still very excellent piece that deserves a mention. The effect is the same as other like-minded tracks; it helps me rest after weeks, months, years of no release.
03 - The Witcher - River of Life;
Like the two above, this is one of my most favorite tracks in soundtrack history.
04 - Unknown - AEMIntro2;
05 - Advent Rising - Bounty Hunter;
I'm hard to catch when it comes to games. Advent Rising was decent but like most other titles didn't hold my interest long. The soundtrack sure did, though! A decent action piece I've used in mods and videos before.
06 - Lair -Battle For Asylia;
07 - Soul Calibur 4 - Stage 20;
08 - Enclave - Dark 01 B;
09 - Basil Poledouris - Gift of Fury;
Old school Conan. I used this in mods in the old days and it's one of the tracks that has aged very well. Every time I hear of it, it reminds me of six years ago, when I was still in my prime. Those were the days, free of worry...
10 - Viking Battle for Asgard - The Battle for Holdenfort;
I love this entire soundtrack, but I couldn't pull too much out of it as they are fairly similar. So I used this track to convey the entire collection of Viking: Battle for Asgard, a decent enough game with a very good soundtrack for my needs.
11 - Age of Conan - Nighttime Journey Through the Eiglophian Mountains;
Never once cared to look at the game, but curiousity got me to download the soundtrack, and I was not disappointed.
12 - Dead Can Dance - Summoning Of The Muse;
13 - Тебе поем;
14 - Fly, fly my sadness - 01 - Fly, fly my sadness;
I opted to keep this in its original flac quality because of how incredible it is. It represents me, right now, very well. I'm lost, without any direction, or reason to continue. I just keep walking where ever the wind takes me.
14 - Journey To Celestis;
I'd never heard of the new Stargate movie until someone mentioned it to me, I tend to be like that, so I had to see it. After I saw it, I had to find the soundtrack. This is my favorite in the collection and has served me well at key times.
15 - Isihia - Preobrazhenie;
Isihia is the only band I've been able to locate that's made traditional Bulgarian-style orchestralish music. Getting these tracks was not easy.
16 - Isihia - Gospodi vozvah
Same as above.
17 - Dawn of War - Chant;
A chant. One of the few tracks from Dawn of War that really show what Jeremy Soule can do.
18 - Xena - Spirit Dance;
This is awesome.
19 - King Arthur - Into The Battle;
20 - Splendors Reclaimed by the Desert;
A part of a collection I randomly downloaded from Newsbin back when it actually still worked. It's surprisingly good.
21 - Icewind Dale Theme;
22 - Icewind Dale - Bonus Track 03;
A cool bonus track.
23 - God of War 2 - Typhon Mountain;
Most modernized game soundtracks, ie gears of war, mass effect, crysis ect are very, very boring and unimaginative to me. God of War, on the other hand, was something new and powerful and I really liked it. This is my favorite track from GoW2 that helped me at points.
24 - Vangelis - Eternity;
Most Vangelis stuff sounds fairly cheesy to me for some reason, but the collection this is from is outstandingly awesome. I just wish this track wasn't so short, because it's one of my favorite pieces of all time. I can't say enough about this track. It's so short, but it's so powerful for me.
25 - Chaos Legion - maintitle;
Another choral piece from Chaos Legion, the main menu. Unlike the metal-oriented level themes, this is very tame, and very calming.
26 - runis_of_bone_hill;
Huge selection you posted there! Very interesting too. The general impression I got from it is a sense of darkness, gravity, and generally slowness. It's globally the same characteristics (a bit less atmospheric, though) than your own compositions you posted some pages above, HERE (
http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1162181&postcount=398). This is clearly a somber, gothic, orchestral, often choral music pack, with a few slightly lighter exceptions (Preobrajenie).
You must have guessed, I'm clearly more attracted by the faster, more energetic, more powerful pieces, like Lair -Battle For Asylia.mp3 (phenomenal epic action piece), Soul Calibur 4 - Stage 20.mp3 (superb combination of metal and orchestra), Viking Battle for Asgard - The Battle for Holdenfort.mp3 (remarkable choral action cue), Advent Rising - Bounty Hunter.mp3 (surprisingly inspired gothic battle cue).
Also I really appreciate the fact you commented each track, telling us why you chose it and why it's so special to you. Thank you for sharing with us your favorite music. :)

And now, something to take away all those nasty synthesiser sounds - and it fits in nicely with the Carl Davis theme... ;)
THE CHARIOT RACE (Ben Hur 1925 - 1988 Rescore)
Carl Davis
Davis composed and recorded this score for a British television broadcast of the infamous 1925 silent film "Ben-Hur". A magnificent , fourteen minute piece - this one will leave you utterly breathless! :)
Performed by the (superb) Royal Liverpool (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool) Philharmonic Orchestra
conducted by Carl Davis
http://sharebee.com/0f3f4425
Here's mine.
This is the main highlight of the score of the movie Asterix Aux Jeux Olympiques composed by Frederic Talgorn. The movie itself is a big scale (very expensive) comedy with a lot of parodic elements. One of these is the key scene of the chariot race, partly inspired by the movie you've guessed.
Talgorn composed a remarkable almost 12 minute orchestral piece, full of action, with even some slight occurences of the romantic theme. It's largely inspired by John Williams' music, as you'll notice, but it's very enjoyable anyway.

YIKES, I can't believe I didn't bring this one up before. That Talgorn score is one of the true musical miracles of 2008. He's one of the only composers who can can adopt John Williams' buoyant style, without merely doing an impression. Absolutely breathtaking stuff, and if I may add (with a bit of friendly patriotism) proudly performed by London's very own Philharmonia Orchestra. :D
Thank you for your post, monsieur!

Indeed it's an extremely enjoyable score: fun, powerful, sometimes romantic, never sad or depressing. It really helps pump you up after a long day. I listen to it quite often.

It's the oboes and flutes playing with xylophones that gives it that Williams texture/quality. It's really well done, especially for something so recent. 4:10 sort of reminds me of Hook.

Epic action and slow songs are good and all, but how about some tension building mood setting kind of Orchestral?
Something that resembles this (

Orchestral? Where? I hear some dodgy synth strings and a dodgy synth choir... ;)

Its Arcade-chip, so cut it some slack. (Besides, its pretty impressive to hear something like that in a Arcade game) Just wanting to know if any one here can find Orchestral music like that.

Mmh, I'll have to put my detective hat tonight. I believe I can find some like that one indeed. The dark / haunted / menacing woods / forest is an interesting subject. Thanks for bringing it up.

Here is another track of the soundtrack recording conducted by Carl Davis, for the 1925 silent film Ben-Hur.
This is "Pirate Battle", and it's another standout track of this score.
Dannyfrench posted "The Chariot Race", some days ago if someone interested.

I sometimes hear them on Radio Rivendell (
http://www.radiorivendell.com/index.php?page=music_info&what=artist&id=210).
Do you have complete Erdenstern albums?
i've been searching for their albums online, but they are hard to find. I couldn't find any.
