Gosh, how could I have been so silly?

Of course you're right, Dave, disparaging a historically maligned, marginalized and murdered minority in a public forum using the dictionary defined term for that minority as an epithet isn't in the least dehumanizing.

When, really, being teased by the supposed existence of an expanded score is by far and away much, much more vexing.

I'm so glad we've come to this understanding.

While it is completely out of context and in fact the complete opposite of what Max meant to say, there are several meanings to the word gay. And yes, I'd agree that there is a plethora of ways Max could have expressed his discontent in not being allowed to share said score without using that word, but must we really make a big thing out of this? You know as well as I do that in this place -of all places- it's often best to look the other way rather than confront people for their misdoings. All it starts is pages worth of discussion that ultimately get lost in between other ones and bleed out into wasted energy and useless frustrations.

Be the bigger man, gururu, and next time someone acts like a complete tool, ignore the post altogether, or even ignore that person (literally - by clicking "ignore") and let it slide. Close the browser, have a drink, take a look outside, contemplate life and the meaningless spec that that insult was in our entire existence.

I would've agreed with something like this a few years ago, but lately I've found it more sincere to proactively stop "safe spaces" for demeaning behavior to exist at all.

Like gaming lobbies, where there are always a few people constantly yelling racial slurs and it get's bad enough where most people mute their mics. Their reasoning is that "they're just blowing off steam, give us a break" but if blowing off steam means being racist, then there's something worse going on. Why give behavior like that a place to flourish?

Let's all just agree to not use personal identifiers as derogatory slang. That's a good start.

I've only delved as far as scanning today's Trump headlines, Dave, but given the self-deceptive rationalization of Mr. "Baddus Asses"'s rebuttal, your remark counts as the first intellectually dishonest statement I've read this morning.

I never planned it to grow this big, but over the last three years things got slightly out of control

Oh no. The sickness got a hold of you. Three years for a single cover set? When you've got all of this lovely promo art, posters, key art, etc. to use, you really want to put all of it to work. But when you started talking about buying a Blu-ray burner just for getting the images off the Blu-Ray disc, or hand-creating 339 frames by hand for a single cover, I was both frightened and in awe. This level of dedication for a single cover set, or heck even a single cover in general, is something I have never seen before. And perhaps it's for the best that this level of dedication isn't surpassed. Otherwise things would start getting really scary around here. I would say it makes the rest of us look bad but you left us in the dust a long time ago. It's just now the gap between you and us plebeians has widened from a lake to a fucking ocean.

My most wanted film of 2012 was Prometheus by Ridley Scott. Despite all its mind-boggling flaws, I still enjoyed the hell out of this movie. A thing that initially couldnt be said about Marc Streitenfelds score though. While its still very effective and on certain tracks actually really good, it definitely fell behind the previous four scores of the Alien saga (yes, even Resurrection).

I feel the exact same way.

My first objective was to remake the official cover (#1), because I never liked it that much. In my opinion it was too bright and colourful for such a dark kind of music. In my attempt I tried to keep everything in the shade (#2, #3), similar to the original soundtrack artwork for Alien. I made it as black as possible, while still maintaining the iconic image of the Engineers head. This was also the first cover, where I let myself loose completely and tried out countless alternations, because why not.

Once again, fixing something I never realized was a problem in the first place. #2 looks great. And I do agree with the design philosophy of bringing it closer to Alien. Although reading how you thought the official cover was "too bright and colourful" and then looking at your kaleidoscope of alternate attempts at the first cover got a chuckle out of me.

I waited for over a year after the theatrical release to start with this custom covers series, as new fan-artwork was continuously sprouting around the web. Also, I didnt have this compulsive desire to be relevant and release custom covers as close as possible to a new soundtrack release date (a real absurdity!).

Testify, my brother from another mother.

I went with two slightly different angles of the same scene, the infamous Prometheus School of Running Away From Things from the climax ending of the film. Even though this scene is one of the most dumbest in the whole film (which is quite an achievement), it looks really fantastic on paper. The details are gorgeous and colours eerily beautiful, especially on the widened Vinyl version.

I'm sorry, but I can't take any of the covers with the ship crashing seriously because it's a constant reminder of "Prometheus School Of Running Away From Things". And then I remember how deep this movie tried to be while on the surface level the characters were making so many stupid decisions like getting lost in the ship with a 3D map and constant communication and touching the weird snake thing and not telling anyone about the squid and turning your back to a zombie and argh...

I like to imagine that both editions come with one half of a special download-key which, once combined, gives access to additional bonus content from the web. Maybe I should work in marketing. Or maybe not.

Please don't. That sounds evil.

Prometheus probablys got to be one of the most stunningly beautiful science fiction films in years and it was a real treat to work with all the official material. One of the highlights in the film definitely was the orrery scene. Thats why Im presenting four different versions to you today.

Best scene, best music, best covers.

Mondo artwork is fine, I guess. I feel like Mondo has done better work on the other films.

First I had to create each and every frame by hand. Which means to select the Photoshop layers, move them by a few pixels and save it all as a new file. Multiply that 339 times and youre nearly there. With those individual frames at hand I began to animate, again manually. Using this animated GIF as a reference I adjusted each frame length individually to create a smooth and flowing animation. It turned out that I had to delete a good deal of frames again, especially in the faster middle section of the animation. So I ended up using only 163 of those 339 frames, which Ive painstakingly made one by one (just to stress it out once again).

Dude, what the fuck. It's this level of ridiculous detail that makes me surprised you haven't gone mad. Or maybe you have?

The little gallery below represents all custom covers for this series that didnt fit elsewhere in this blog entry.

I read all of your little comments, and I really enjoy all of the little references, but you're right; some of these feel off. Even the Alien tribute (#57, #58), which I want to love because the official cover is one of my all-time favourites, feels weird in this context.

#25, 30, 34, 36, 37, 41, 42, 46, 54, 60, 67, 71-74 I am quite fond of this lot from the "miscellaneous" section. Including #25 and all the orrery covers. That's just personal preference, not what I think are good covers, because almost all of them are fantastic.

Also, I feel like I've seen #71 before...

Rereading this I kind of sound really negative, but I know by know you get my semi-satirical review style. Keep up the good work (but not at the expense of sleeping, please)! That goes for you too tintacle!

Dude, what the fuck. It's this level of ridiculous detail that makes me surprised you haven't gone mad. Or maybe you have?

You know, I can relate. He did tell me for, like... wow, just realized it was almost 2 years ago... that he was working on Prometheus. And every once in a while I would ask "Oh, what about your Prometheus covers?" The answer always was "I'm not finished yet, there is something I would like to do / try / correct / add / etc." And I was always asking myself how he can stay sane? There is daily work, there is a family, you know... life going on. How can anyone have even 1 minute of spare time to do covers like this? Inhuman, I tell you. Inhuman. Probably not exactly a traditional fetus ;)

P.S.: Anyone will note that I didn't rate his work for Prometheus. I can't. How can I make all the words I already directed towards his art before even bigger? If you're the top, you're the top. And having written that, I really don't want to offend anyone, there are really brilliant people here. But... with Heidl's stuff I always find something small, even tiny, insignificant at first glance... which suddenly, without me realizing it at first, makes me either laugh or say "Fuck, from what unnatural place does he get his ideas? How could he think of this?" Yet he does.

P.P.S.: So how did I react to his Prometheus set then? I complained :D I said "Couldn't you have made several posts? Six posts each containing 10 covers? That way it would have been more dramatic, each cover would have stood out more. With all these covers you cannot see the brilliance of it anymore" Of course you can. But I still complained. Because I have no good things left to say about his work anymore, it's like trying to push time itself ahead. And where was it I wanted to go with this last paragraph? I forgot, sorry.

I agree that he could've spaced out the release for that sweet internet karma and so we had more time to process the sheer volume of covers, but I know he likes to have all of his covers for a set under one page on his website. And it's also refreshing in a way to have someone not artificially lengthen a release by withholding content on purpose. So there's pros and cons to both.

So many great Prometheus covers Heidl!

I absolutely LOVE this cover!

I just wanted to congratulate you on your taste, but I'm too irritated by that black line at the right of the video.
You have no idea how many versions of that videofile I've saved and uploaded, only to make sure that it looks perfectly nested on my blog. Not enough apparently.

Oh no. The sickness got a hold of you. Three years for a single cover set? When you've got all of this lovely promo art, posters, key art, etc. to use, you really want to put all of it to work. I admit having become a liiiiiittle bit obsessed with that kind of stuff.

And I do sometimes ask myself if all of this is worth it? The time, the energy, the lack of sleep and the back pain after sitting all tensed up for 4 hours in front of the PC. But after all this time, I still enjoy the hell out of this hobby. It's become a sort of addiction and often times I can't stop until I'm absolutely satisfied with the result. Scary indeed, you're damn right.

Like I ought to say on your blog (even though there's just a not-so-constructive comment for the moment), your work is fantastic. I'm finally freeee :D
Still chain-bound to making custom covers forever, but that particular beast has been slayed. Or hasn't it yet......?

I discovered that this shot of Bridget Moynahan integrates perfectly into my main cover design, so there's another variant! Right now I'm at six. (Don't laugh, Heidl...) I use my Surface Pro and a 1-2px brush to gently mask away edges when doing cutouts and it takes a long time okay! It looks perfect but takes forever.

It's so good to know I'm not the only one who's obsessed with that kind of stuff :)

Probably not exactly a traditional fetus ;)

You sneaky bastard... ;)

So, I'd like to thank you all for your wave of comments. The response to this covers set has been overwhelming. It makes all the effort so much more worthwhile and I'm really grateful!

Here's something for today that I just cobbled together while the kids were at play and my wife still at sleep.

The clone stamp is visible at both sides. You may want to revise this when you complete this trilogy of covers. And one personal suggestion from my side. If you go with the TFA logo design, I would use a sans serif font for all other text elements. The fancy look of Trajan is too much of a distraction.

I'm aware. :P Like I said, its just a test for now. Hopefully the final version won't be so noticeable. And I'll try your font suggestion as well. It personally doesn't bother me but I can see why it would for some.

I used the TFA logo design because it seems like Disney is dropping the "Episode" part of all the titles. As evident by the steelbook blurays and digital copy cover art.

Also, pretty stoked that one of my covers is finally being critiqued by you. Big fan! :D

Requesting a cover for vol 2 using the IMAX poster. I would like it just like the vol 1 deluxe edition. "Deluxe" below the film's title and then at the bottom "Songs from the Motion Picture", below that "Original Score by Tyler Bates". I think yellow font would do, so it matches the yellow in the poster.

Vol 1 for reference:

Hey guys... a few hours ago I updated the Spider-Man 3 DE (Thread 197942). A bit later Huntertech posted some covers of his own (Thread 197942). I was an asshole and commented in a not very polite way (Thread 197942) on their quality, not knowing that he did them. But then he asked how he could improve them... and then I thought "Why not turn it into a guide of some sort?" I've had this idea before but I always was afraid to step on peoples' feet. Not to mention the very likely possibility of giving stupid advice. After all, I'm not a trained graphics designer, I'm just an amateur so I don't know anything about rules and such.

But sometimes one has to jump into cold water, accept that people might hate him or that he will be ridiculed. Today I decided that I can bear it. I hope. BTW, this is in no way a comprehensive guide or something like that. It's also not very detailed and cuts corners with explanations of why I do things.

Anyway, let's start with a bad cover I did specifially for this purpose:

You can find several awful things in this cover:

low resolution picture
picture badly positioned
fancy fonts everywhere (hurts readability)
black coloured stroke for the fancy fonts to force readability
text way too close to the border (looks ugly IMO)
way too much text (who needs all this information? It's a cover, not an academic paper)

How to make it better? Well, for one thing, use a better picture. If it's low-res (500x500 or 1000x1000), just don't use it, even if you really love it. It's a pity but that's how it is. As I always say, a garbage can stays a garbage can, even if it's in colour and encrusted with diamonds.

Then, one of the most important things (to me at least): leave the edges of the picture alone, preferrably using evenly spaced distances. You don't need to use all the space a picture has to offer because a cover is a piece of design (though it has a more practial reason that's not important here):

After that, cut the picture apart in your imagination into squares. They can help you get distances between objects (movie title, text, symbols, etc.) right:

Then, start to position your picture:

See where I'm going with this? Spidey's hand is right in the middle of the picture while his shoulder and the tip of his feet say something about the distance to the picture borders.

After that you can start to add text, titles and symbols:

Note how the lower and upper text is hanging close to my imaginary border. Also note the slight shadow the text has. It's a closely confined shadow, effectively a black copy of the text lying underneath the white-coloured text. That improves readability.

While doing this picture, I thought that the centered blocks of text don't look too good. So I moved both of them to the left side within my imaginary left squares. Since the movies' title looks ugly down there as well, I deleted it and opted for the simple "3" used in some parts of the promotional campaign for the movie:

As you can see... my picture is too small. So I enlarged it. Note how it is still centered to the upper and lower border of the picture. While I was at it, I changed the font for the informative text to something that better fits the genre of the movie and the "3". Also, I never like to use fancy fonts for informative text. Fancy fonts should be be reserved for the movies' title only. After all, I'm not Heidl who can make fancy fonts work (but he's the exception). The font is Century Gothic, sort of the like the poor mans Futura. I will immediately admit that it's a boring looking font (and not the best choice for the whole Spider-Man 3 design... but I couldn't think of anything better). BUT it's also very easily readable.

While we're at it, let me say a word about kerning. Kerning describes the spaces between individual letters. Basically, there are two options: metric & optical kerning. The first has perfectly even spaces between letters. The second takes the form of letters into account and changes the spaces between them accordingly. This has two advantages: it improves readability (because it suits the way our eyes look at text) and looks:

Metric: upper text. Optical: lower text. Changes range from subtle to strong. With a font like Century Gothic devoid of serifs (little flourishes here and there) the differences are subtle. But look at the space between words and at letters like "o" and "i": optical kerning adjusts spaces for readability. In short: never ever use metric kerning :)

But then I didn't like the looks of the blocks of text. So I centered them again (frankly, I suck at producing a design that is NOT centered). I did the same to the "3", my point of orientation again Spidey's hand and another imaginary rectangle, this time taking the whole space of picture into account. I then suddenly realized that my picture was too big... so I resized it - again!:

How does it look without my imaginary border? A bit boring. I chose a suboptimal picture. So I tried to change contrast, colour, etc. To make it more interesting. I also wanted to add some structure to it:

The "3" looks awful there, doesn't it?

And here is the final picture, the "3" moved down again, the point of orientation being Spidey's hand and knee and "Music composed by". I can do the latter since I chose to make Chris Young's name bold:

Not a good cover. A picture unsuited for a cover, an overall bourgeois design. As I said above, a garbage can will stay a garbage can :D But for this purpose it was ok to use it, I think.

That's it. Not too difficult, I hope. And if someone from the group of good designers find something to criticize, please do!

So I recently downloaded Capcom's recent release of The Disney Afternoon Collection, and surprisingly their gallery contained the original key art and title treatments! So I ripped those file and thought I'd try a test custom cover with the best game in the collection. I added the boarders because the key art was originally made for a tall game case, and didn't fit well with the square cover art. So then I thought to make the boarder look like the original boarder on the game case itself. Anyways, let me know what you guys think.

Same here, haha! Whether if it's those nice box sets or recordings of operas or digipacks, I'm not a fan of rectangular covers. A best example is Intrada's "The Ten Commandments" (for the complete recording, Intrada states they have a 1600 px x 1600 px for the 3 CD soundtrack, but once you click on it, it's 1845x1600...) and a label who shall not be named box set for "Spartacus". The only ones I've managed to find are rectangular covers and not a nice 600X600 or a 1000X1000 of the covers. Too bad I'm bad at using Photoshop to take a scan of a booklet or box cover, clean it up and turn into a nice iTunes ready square cover.

Which brings me to a request: fix Intrada's error and make this into a nice square for iTunes.

Good point. Since this is a custom covers thread (emphasis on "custom covers"), I think it's perfectly harmless. We've had custom covers for various VS releases over the years. A best example of turning an official cover into a nice iTunes acceptable art: Heidl's "Star Trek: Beyond" deluxe edition cover. Heidl managed to fix the left placement of the deluxe edition banner and gave it a proper alignment on top, something that VS needs to stop because the banner works best on top and not on the left. *grumpily points to VS' deluxe edition of James Horner's "Aliens" which has the left banner problem*

Which now brings me to my other request that I've forgotten to place it with Intrada's "The Ten Commandments" is to fix the VS "Spartacus" box set cover into an acceptable square for iTunes (the image that I'm providing was only 889x800, I have yet to find a great image of this box set, so this will have to do). *points to Dave999 :D*

Suteki, it's funny you should mention "Star Trek Beyond", because that was the custom cover I was going to request. Unlike the previous two DE's, the "Beyond" one doesn't completely suck. With that said, I still prefer the Blu-Ray style artwork.

If someone could perhaps make a Deluxe Edition style cover with that artwork template, it would be much appreciated. I have tried to do it myself, but I could not do it without cutting off too much of the bottom part. I have not great photo-shopping skills. However, I would like to share some ST covers I've done that weren't too hard:

ST TMP: 20th Anniversary

Credit for artwork goes to Canduterio and Vjeko, respectively, of DeviantArt. All I did was photo-shop other things in. I will take these down if requested.

Tough image indeed ! I'll see if I can find something to work with.

That actually doesn't work ("you must first remove this album from the gallery before adding more images"). You have to delete the album and create a new one which is rather stupid.

Thanks! Looks great!

Well, it must be pretty well hidden, because I've looked quite a bit. Search feature don't work too well either. Who made it, may I ask?

I had to look it up because if I still remembered, I would've given you the link immediately. But it turns out the wonderful heidl did, of course ;)
Keep in mind we also have the covers index (Thread 187108), which not only indexes all custom covers posted here,
but also has links to cover artist homepages in the first post. Also the search function here in the Shrine is unreliable. I use Google.
Type in "site:forums.ffshrine.org" and then what you're looking for. I always do this (including parentheses):

site:forums.ffshrine.org "official custom covers" inception (<---- that tells Google to only display results from forums.ffshrine.org and only on pages that include "official custom covers" as a whole keyword, so because you use that, it will mostly look for covers on that thread, since no other thread has that specific title ;) and then in this case it displays all inception covers, like so (https://www.google.be/search?q=site:forums.ffshrine.org+%22official+cust om+covers%22+%22inception%22&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj7w5n9qvrTAhVKPVAKHfokD_MQ_AUICigB&biw=1680&bih=846).
It's not flawless because it will display anything else also on that page, but I always find it works better than the Shrine search function does.

Anyway, here's the link to heidl's Star Trek: Beyond artwork:

Awesome cover, clonemaster! always wish there was a lossless version of the score, I frequently listen to Axis on the March (can't believe it wasn't used in the game) :)

I've come to really enjoy the score more so than ever before. The first time around I made covers for this game, I gave it a listen and it didn't really grab me so much. But recently, within the past two weeks or so, I decided to put it on and it just appealed to me much more. It's the sort of music I want to hear out of Giacchino again much more often now.

And also, yes, I do love "Axis On The March", it's a really good, glorious, patriotic military march. Though I do wonder why it's called 'Axis On The March', because it doesn't sound very much like the music for the Nazi's winning in their objective in this particular case, lol. Unless it's to be from the standpoint that's it's what is happening and the US is stopping it, not sure. I think it can also be a 'presidential march' if you think of it that way. Becuase, well uh, haha, I recently attributed it to the current President of the United States in a search for if there's a sort of 'march' that would be suitable. It's fairly well representative of him, like, his presidential side, in my opinion. I then also realize that it could be used for any president, really, but I thought it worked best for the current as it's loud, kind of like he is. :p Just thought that was really cool.

I would kindly suggest moving the title back to the center top of the image :)

I'm afraid that doesn't work so very well as the direction I went with it...

()

Well, maybe it does, I'm just not a fan of how it covers some of the Statue of Liberty's torch at all.

Hey guys, its been a while! But im back with a set for Horizon Zero Dawn:

The soundtrack (a whopping 4-CD release) really surprised me: great music, and a lot of it. The official cover (click to see it ()), however, is as boring as it gets: key artwork, logo, and Official Soundtrack slapped in the lower right corner, using a typeface thats completely out of place. Plus, i dont even think that this key artwork works all that well, what with Aloy (the heroine of the game) looking away from the beast shes about to slay. Sure, we can see her face, but the scene feels somewhat off.

Still, i did use it in my own cover #1, but i used a slightly different (dare i say better) crop and cleaned it up a little bit. I also added a few composers credits, since there are quite a few contributing artists here. The font i used is somewhat similar to whats being used in the game. Covers #2 #4 are all permutations of the same idea: official key art plus the composers. Its only when we get the the last 3 that things get a bit more intersting. #5 is actually the title cover of the Official Artbook; unfortunately, there was no room for all the composers here, so i omitted them. #6 also worked better without it. #7 is the only one without any official artwork it's a random piece i found on deviantART. The text is somewhat hard to read, but i like the overal floaty feeling of it.

Hope you enjoy them!

Plus, i don’t even think that this key artwork works all that well, what with Aloy (the heroine of the game) looking away from the beast she’s about to slay. Sure, we can see her face, but the scene feels somewhat off.

Still, i did use it in my own cover #1, but i used a slightly different (dare i say “better”) crop and cleaned it up a little bit. I also added a few composers’ credits, since there are quite a few contributing artists here. The font i used is somewhat similar to what’s being used in the game. Covers #2 – #4 are all permutations of the same idea: official key art plus the composers. It’s only when we get the the last 3 that things get a bit more intersting. #5 is actually the title cover of the Official Artbook; unfortunately, there was no room for all the composers here, so i omitted them. #6 also worked better without it. #7 is the only one without any official artwork – it's a random piece i found on deviantART. The text is somewhat hard to read, but i like the overal floaty feeling of it.

Hope you enjoy them!

It's usually difficult to make covers incorporating the names of so many artists. Maybe that's why we don't see too many videogame custom covers around here! #1-4 are okay, but I really like the minimalist direction you went with for #5-7. #5 is probably my favourite art of the bunch, but I also like the simplicity of #6 and it's centered text placement. Keep it up!

As promised, ive reworked all of my HZD covers. The old ones are still there in my previous post here are the new ones. The changes are quite subtle though, mainly tweaks to the text, most noticeable at #3. For others, like #5, i also cleaned the background image and boosted the colours a little bit.

That's not too bad, at least Tom Cruise's character is front and centre in the image. With the DXMD ones, the OST has too many things happening on it, and the Extended Edition has that titan shield pattern occupy half the space so much they may as well not have Jensen on the cover at all.

And after seeing some brilliant Alien Isolation covers a few pages ago (HQCovers), I'm hoping to see that same style treatment on the DXMD covers. :)

Funny you mention that. I made an edit to a cover Helix (Thread 90457) did some years ago (unfortunately the links to the pics appear to be dead). I held back on posting it because it was only meant to be a placeholder as I hoped Helix would return and post another great set for Mankind Divided a la Human Revolution.

Fun fact: I needed to add Sacha Dikiciyan and Ed Harrison to the cover but I couldn't find the font Helix used, and almost gave up on making this cover until I realized that the letters that make up "C O M P L E T E V I D E O G A M E S O U N D T R A C K" and "M I C H A E L M C C A N N" can also be found in "Sacha Dikiciyan" and "Ed Harrison". It sure did take a lot of work editing those words around, especially getting that shadow effect of the blue stripe.

Cheers man! You know, i'm a master in Google-fu, and stacking Google search terms is my weapon of choice. "Search for similar pictures" works like magic sometimes, too; you just gotta be sure to check "image size large". Also, theVideoGameGallery (http://www.thevideogamegallery.com/) is always a good place to go looking for high-res artwork. This time, though, i didn't even need it – expect for the logos.

Ed Harrison? Damn! Okay, expect new covers in a day or two…

I'm pretty afraid of the Danny Elfman takeover on Justice League. I don't think he'll use the themes composed by Hans Zimmer, Junkie XL and Rupert Gregson-Williams in the film, he's way too different from their style. I fear the DCEU will get the usual MCU-like scores, with zero continuity.
But I hope so much to be proven wrong!

Hey, if it means he uses his Batman theme I'm all for it. It appears DC is much more into music continuity than Marvel, as WW theme was used despite being a Zimmer creation and is definitely a hit among fans. At this point, I would imagine the only guaranteed returning music would be Wonder Woman's theme, with everybody else being a wildcard.

At this point, I would imagine the only guaranteed returning music would be Wonder Woman's theme, with everybody else being a wildcard.

If DC wants musical continuity, Elfman should use the themes written by Zimmer, Junkie XL and Gregson-Williams, not his own themes written almost 30 years ago, for films that have nothing to share with the DCEU except the characters names! Also, don't get me wrong, I am 100% sure he'll bring some fresh air to the score and to the entire DCEU (as much as Gregson-Williams' score for Wonder Woman did), which should be good considering that Justice League will have a lighter tone compared to BvS, but my biggest fear is that he won't be able to properly use those themes, because he's a very different composer than Zimmer and his team. Also, I don't think he fits well with Snyder's tastes. I know he's no more in charge, but this way, Joss Whedon is doing his own film, not continuing the vision of Snyder, which is why he was chosen for Justice League. To sum up, I fear that both Whedon and Elfman will unintentionally break the musical and cinematic continuity with their job.

But this is not the right place for this discussion, anyway... So let's end this here.

Hi everyone. First-time posting. Love so much of the artwork I've seen in this thread. I've made the occasional DVD cover in the past, but I've never done anything for music until now.

I threw together this Mad Max cover earlier today; It's not amazing in terms of craft (that text is probably too close to the edge), and the original art wasn't super high quality to begin with. I haven't found a really great version of this poster online, so if anyone sees one, I'd greatly appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I think I like this one the best in terms of the text placement.
You brightened up the logo, but it somehow looks a bit blurry or too soft, idk... there's some effect or filter that's making it look a little bit strange.

You could change the kerning of the text, it might get a bit easier then to place it within the white area. Also, it looks like it's a bit too much slanted to the right compared to the movie logo. Also, welcome! :)

Amistad
(http://imgur.com/kFjzTTC) (http://imgur.com/Umz9LUR)

The first one is an alternate to the original cover artwork (), however this one features the silhouette of Djimon Hounsou's character Cinque on it.
The second is a completely custom one I did as another alternate, with the Declaration of Independance as the backdrop and various 'old paper' texture layers on top and the ship Amistad sailing away in that beautiful sunset shot.

Heat
(http://imgur.com/c6IySLO)

A cover, based on the newly released Director's Definitive Edition Blu-ray (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Heat-Blu-ray/123744/), for the expanded score posted by sinus (Thread 120880).

Interstellar

The Town

Based on the wonderful but unfortunately somewhat hidden artwork on the official poster (https://www.cinematerial.com/movies/the-town-i840361/p/geag9ft1), here in all it's glory!

True Grit
(http://imgur.com/aribh8f)

I did this one because, although I like the simplicity of the original cover (), which I think is supposed to look like an old wanted poster, I wanted one where the logo and text had a little more room to breathe.

Valkyrie
(http://imgur.com/7DFlGq6) (http://imgur.com/UxskaEm)

(http://imgur.com/xZdVyCp) (http://imgur.com/wRYESPL) (http://imgur.com/Jkelnst)

The first one I did to have a cover with more of a grand scale than the official (), however for a CD release the text might be a little too small, that's what #2 is for ;)
And btw, ALL of the walls have been manually re-created!

The last three are, well, more alternates :p
