Wow, tintacle, these are fantastic!! Thanks for sharing. :)

One thing - I've noticed you've just added the '2' to your covers for KFP1. Which images are from which film? I'd want to use a cover with an image from the correct film.

Like em??? I bloody love em! Really excellent work! :D

I'm wondering the same thing as Sully though, which images are from which films? :)

Thank you for the lovely praise! :D

I don't know exactly which one is from which movie, except version 1 is a screenshot I took from the first movie. I think all six versions can be used for both movies.

I personally use version 1 for Kung Fu Panda and version 2 for Kung Fu Panda 2, mostly because those are the ones I prefer :D

Forgive me if I've missed it but are the stems available here or is something you are privately holding? 100% understand if you can't share. Just curious as I hadn't seen them floating around.

Since some of you, and I'm not looking at anyone specific now, Sully... seem to be on an Iron Man trip lately, have you considered making something out of the following posters?

I saw these when I was doing IM3 stuff but they seemed wrong. The first one looks more like the comic book/Armored Adventures type suit than the one from the movies and the second one is a suit that never makes an appearance in the third film. In fact, it's a manip-ed still from the first one. BUT, since we're up to something, I'll use the second (or the first one i haven't decided)one for that. Gracias heidl.

Sully, is it okay with you if I use these for the *ahem* 'project' at some point? Or are you already cooking something up?

I agree - the first one doesn't have the right face shape to be from any of the films, and the second one looks like a strange modified version of the Mk. III.

You can cook up whatever you want for the 'project'. I'll be editing my latest covers as well, and people can have a choice. I personally wouldn't use either of the above images as a cover in my iTunes. I think my latest covers are the best out there (though I say so myself!)...

Just like RDJ himself said, when he made a surprise appearance at the IM3 section of ComicCon where there were lots of kids dressed up as Iron Man: "Alright, I have a winner. It's me."

Just a tip for you, Saurus...

If you edit your original post, nobody is going to see it unless they scroll backwards to have a look. The best thing for you to do is to edit your original post (if you really want to) but then also to post any new covers in a new post anyway. Like I was doing with my Iron Man covers recently - if I had kept adding them to the post with my first cover, nobody would have seen them (and I doubt many would have been bothered to scroll back to have a look, particularly if it was a few pages back).

They are great images though. I like the second one cause it's like the only time I can look at the armor, just that and actually be scared.
I was holding off a discussion on covers until we can get it off the ground and have like a concrete idea of how big it'll be and stuff. But yeah I knew that we needed a bunch of covers for this. I liked it. Thought it was pretty unconventional (like the movie it accompanies) but it works in this case. Never knew just how much drum beat could convey, this and Whiplash are blowing my mind. I love the way the it begins and the final drum track. Who knows, maybe a 'conventional' score might have worked here but it certainly wouldn't have been this interesting.

Oh and as usual the covers are superb. Makes me wish we saw more of the 'Birdman' superhero character in his element in the film. No matter what though, that one-sheet was remarkable, in fact the entire artwork produced for marketing for Birdman was very good and very unlike the usually lazy Hollywood jobs.

Speaking of...

Whiplash blew my fucking mind. I was literally exhausted and shaking by the end of it. I can really relate to that guy (which is somehow frightening!) because I played the drums myself for some years. It's a crazy film about perfectionism and the complete loss of oneself. Man, and that music.... that god-damn music.... holy shit!

How is this NOT the official OST cover?!?! This is damn well brilliant. I haven't seen the movie, but just comparing covers... VS needs to hire you. I'd be interested to know what you did with this. Did you add the VS logo at the top and the VS writing at the bottom? Great work. If I had this album in my iTunes, I'd swap the official cover for yours in a heartbeat. Or should I say drumbeat?

I have a little request: could anybody make a custom cover for Inception, using this poster: http://cfile26.uf.tistory.com/image/18173F0E4C538D99805260 saying only ''Music by Hans Zimmer'' at the bottom? I believe the font is ''gotham black''. I know there are a lot of Inception custom covers, but I'd love to have one with this image. Colour of the text could be white, red or kind of blue, like in the original cover.

Considering how crowded the image is (except the main logo) it's almost impossible to make this look good. I gave it my best shot though. :)

Sully, I know you have a life and I mean no offense when I say this - but it kills me knowing how much you haven't seen nor heard. I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to Inception. I actually put it on when I went to bed last night. And I do that most nights. I'll either fall asleep listening to Inception or Interstellar. And it's weird - whenever I choose Interstellar, I manage to wakeup in the middle of 6m24 Coward (and wonder what the f is going on). Inception is the music you hear in your dreams.....

As for what to recommend, you want OST or complete? Because it's Zimmer, so you know.....there's a radical difference

You definitely outdid me. :) You did what I failed to and that is find a spot to fit the text where it's actually easily read. I think the first two work really well. The other ones I'm not crazy about. :)

You're right there. I do indeed have a life. And a very busy one at that. Right now, I am snowed under with schoolwork. Besides standard academic work, which includes writing a thesis, I am also working towards both my Grade 8 Violin and Music Theory exams in June. And if you have any idea of what is involved in any of those, you'll begin to understand how busy I am. But come September, when I start my university degree, I'm thinking I may have more time to watch films, particularly as that is what my degree is all about. As part of the Film Production course, I imagine it'll be highly recommended (if not required) that I see films like Inception, Interstellar, etc. So don't you worry. Just hold on in there for a few more months.

Haha, yes, I know what you mean. I'm talking about any specific cues from Inception that are particularly special.

You definitely outdid me. :) You did what I failed to and that is find a spot to fit the text where it's actually easily read. I think the first two work really well. The other ones I'm not crazy about. :)

Glad you like them. :)

Do you mean just any music or specifically from Inception? Because if haven't actually already heard Inception enough to know already then I just...just...just go listen to The Dream is Collapsing.

Thanks, Sully!

I added the logo on top which originally is the snare drum skin manufactorer's logo. The VS text at the bottom is also from me. And for the wording "Original Motion... yadada" and "Score..." I had to track down the original font.

But I'm not completely satisfied with it yet. The added text gets kinda lost and it's missing the wear and tear texture of the film logo. I'm also thinking about the black background, maybe this area needs some kind of drum set background to give it a little more life. And last but not least yesterday I was thinking about turning the additional text into a handwritten blood platter style.

Anyhow this is more a proof of concept and I think this one needs to ripen just a little more.

Thanks for your interest!

That and Ben Hur are films that I hope to someday get to see on the big screen. I know some theaters show old films sometimes, so hopefully I'll get to attend something like that one day. :D

As far as Inception vs Interstellar, I agree with Pekingesejedi that it is a win win situation. There is no bad decision. That being said, I think Inception is a better film, so I would make that your first priority. :)

I'd say Interstellar in cinema > Inception on Bluray > Interstellar screener

Here's what I think. Given the current ticket prices situation and the fact that time is a pretty hard luxury to come by, here's what I do, I go to the cinema only for movies that are worth the trip. Or movies that I can't wait for to come on home video. That criteria usually eliminates most movies and leaves a bunch of movies. That bunch is further narrowed down by eliminating the titles which follow 'would I be able to tolerate them at home/on tv/netflix/etc.?'. that leaves me with very few but very cinema trip worthy movies that are usually huge in scale, visual masterpieces and generally experiences you can never have at home (mind you I have ginormous screen with a 1080p projector and 5.1ch surround at home). Before we get into this I just want to mention that barring some horrible screenings, usually if you watch a film in a theatre and then watch it small, you will not like it. Now I'll give you some examples for these special kind of movies, Gravity(I have the BD, bought it for the extras, tried watching the feature almost broke the disc), Avatar, the Transformer movies, 2012 (2009), etc. You'll also realize at some point that these aren't 'very good' movies, narrative-wise. That's because they don;t have to be. Case in point, 2012 as you may remember was Roland Emmerich's absolutely horrendous apocalyptic POS that came out in '09. There's a thing people say when defending these kinds of movies, 'turn your brain off when you see them' which is okay, except if you do just that you'd die. Most of the time plot holes or bad acting irritate you but here's why 2012 is a horrible film, but a good cinematic experience. the same reason everyone goes to watch Micheal Bay's latest explosion-fest. On the big screen, it's easier to forget the nuances and it becomes tougher to critique when you're enveloped in glorious sound and entranced by spectacular visuals. the only time you care about how bad the story actually was is when you think back after getting out of the hall. It does make justifying the ticket price difficult sometimes but then here's where most people I know go wrong. They judge the movie based on conventional stuff like was the acting good or was the story solid? Maybe...just maybe for once a movie didn't deliver that but at least it shook you, it inspired you, it mesmerized your eyeballs out of your teeny little skull.

Gravity is the same breed. There was a very good reason it didn't get the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. It wasn't because AMPAS hates sci-fi, it was simply because the story was really undeveloped. Taking out everything I know now about the movie it boils down to the fact that Sandy was just hopping from space station to space station hoping to get to Earth, hundreds of miles below. Even non-science-y non-astronaut me knows that that is a particularly absurd way to go about it. Not to mention the other atrocities the film committed (why did Clooney, the only guy qualified have to let go?why?). And yet, despite all that, I saw that film five times (in IMAX 3D!), why? Because it was an experience unlike any other I've had before with a space film. I wasn't watching Sandy jumping around like crazy, I WAS Sandy dodging the debris, spinning around in space, desperately clinging on to that last solar panel. It's still my nod for Best Picture for '13, because it did something none of the other nominees could do, I felt it.

Now, coming over to our buddy Chris Nolan here. As it has been mentioned(quite a few times around here), both are excellent movies. But which one of them is worth the trip/money/time? If I had to choose, and I did have to. I would go with Interstellar. Story-wise, I actually liked Inception better. I feel like Jonathan's initial idea for Spielberg was pretty good, his brother just came in and spoiled some things, and improved very little. But Inception can be tolerated on a smaller screen, it can be viewed even on a tablet. Inception was termed 'the thinking man's movie' when it came out, it's not. But it is very fascinating. Visually, astonishing. The whole spinning room combat scene was surprisingly well-done. The environments in that movie are truly dream-like. But realistically, dream-like. Now the experience will definitely not be the same but well, that's what you pay for. The impact though lessened is still there without that feeling that something's missing. Interstellar, on the other hand, can be viewed on a smaller screen too but it's so much better on the big 'un. It doesn't have to be the 70mm IMAX(although if you get the chance, empty your wallet), it just has to be big. Because of everything I just said. Because if I start thinking about how this was bad, and this was a problem and how'd they do this when this was being done, etc. it's still difficult because I still remember Endurance in spin. The apocalyptic wave and the mountains above. I remember the craft skidding across the silky surface of the void contained. And that matched up retro thrust. The organ thundering. Because I remember all that, and so much more.

Sully, take it from me. There really is no time for caution.

I'll say that, unlike everyone else here, I didn't really care for Interstellar. It's visually sumptuous and Zimmer's score is, in my opinion, some of his best work in years, but the film overall fell flat for me. I didn't care for the characters or what they were doing, and it felt like Christopher Nolan's heart wasn't in it (his brother originally wrote the movie for Spielberg to direct, and Nolan only took over when Spielberg dropped out). It's actually my least favorite of Nolan's films (and, I felt similarly about his work on The Dark Knight Rises, but I enjoyed that one more overall). Inception, on the other hand, is top three Nolan for me. Great film, with fabulous sci-fi ideas, action setpieces, and fun characters in a cool (mind) heist setting.

Even worse, it lost to the perfectly pleasant but utterly mediocre and forgettable The King's Speech. Genre movies rarely win Best Picture (The Return of the King is the exception, not the rule). Personally, my favorite film of 2010 was Black Swan, but this was a close second. Actually, there is pretty much a four-way tie between those two, as well as The Social Network and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Haha did it feel like you were watching it with me?! :-P

---------- Post added at 03:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:52 PM ----------

So I've got back after my weekend away and now I'm looking for the Inception sessions... I had heart palpitations and brain blanks at the amount of Inception scores that were posted here... the Inception Resources Thread was very helpful.

Can somebody point me in the right direction for a re-up of the original sessions (not a fan-edit or anything)?

I still can't believe how good that movie was. How did it not win Best Picture 2010?? It should have won best picture of the decade.

I wish I'd been there, I'm sure during the movie you looked just like ''you'' do on your profile picture! ;)
You should download the edition made by Codyap09, that's the one I have and it's really good!

I think what I have is one of the editions that Codyap09 made. I'm not certain though, and I'm not really sure how to check...

I'm in agreement with you. No way it shouldn't have won. Plus Nolan didn't get Nominated for best director. :(

Inception is a film that just works on so many levels. ...... get it? So many levels. ;)

Any chance of an upload? The link in the thread is down.

Nolan wasn't even nominated for Best Director?? That really is a crime. Damn the academy.

Haha... ;)

Between you and Jason, could one of you guys upload your copy?

This one was created by Terry McCutchen (http://terryseatsndawgs.deviantart.com/gallery/41623016/CD-Jackets), one of my buddies and favourite album Artists at deviantArt

He had done some other amazing custom covers as well, I highly encourage you to visit his dA profile.

Well... The official 'Chappie' cover is more than awful. To me it's probably even worse than TASM2 regular edition. At moments like this I'm glad this forum exists.

I'd give it my usual "good, not great". However, I think Exodus: Gods and Kings takes the cake

Smashing work once again, Jason! I had no idea Hans was scoring Chappie until earlier today. I've listened to a few tracks on YouTube already, but I have to say, it hasn't grabbed me. Apparently it's his first 100% electronic score since the 80s or something like that...

Are there two logos? 'Cause the one on all the posters here is different:

I've made a cover for that 6 disc compilation of The Music of Hans Zimmer - The Definitive Collection. Well, the front is not exactly custom, only remade to fit a 6-disc cd jewel box, and for the background on the back cover I used a high-res wallpaper in the same style.

The hi-res link is here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!YF1QhYoY!lUGh7LPeNG4KhpyiroetUIyfaFJPtSM2-1xb-mnNRDw

It's intended to be printed at 300 dpi, width 15.61 cm height 25.7 cm (both front and back on the same page).

For some reason I couldnt upload the lo-res preview (each size file excedes my quota by 47.1 kB).

I've gone completely crazy over Whiplash and its soundtrack.
This cover series wasn't supposed to be THAT big...

But once I got started with my dearly beloved Vinyls, things went out of control.

Also, sorry for that crappy CGI-looking banner above, but this was the best I could come up with.

In fact, what I did was, I opened all my Photoshop mockups that were in the slightest same perspective and threw them all into one giant Photoshop file - which as a result grew over 500 MB.
Photoshop bombed with almost 4GBs of RAM usage and in the end refused to save the file to disk (unknown error!).
I had to screengrab the final image at full resolution and reassemble the specific detail views into a new file.

@Sully: I also updated my earlier Whiplash cover, it didn't work out like I wanted it, but nevertheless I changed a few bits.
I thought you might want to compare them and tell me which one you like more? Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to create a cover for Andreas Waldetoft's Hearts of Iron II. Now, I know there's that "Sounds of Conflict" thing, a kind of music DLC for the third installment that supposedly adds music from HoI II to it, but its cover still says "Hearts of Iron III", so it's not really fitting for use with the second game's soundtrack, am I right?

Did you know that if you take the first letters of the main characters' names - Dom (Cobb), Robert (Fischer), Eames, Arthur, Mal and Saito - they spell "DREAMS". If you then add in Peter (Browning), Ariadne and Yusuf, it becomes "DREAMS PAY", which is what dreams do for a mind thief...

So I finally got round to starting a blog with my artwork. Everything I post here I'll post on the blog too. It's fairly small, but I'm sure over the next few years it'll grow. Have a look if you're interested:

I'll get right on it for you. :)

---------- Post added at 04:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:14 AM ----------

For Kolpitz. This is why I put the "Music by Hans Zimmer" above the logo, as it's kinda hard to see underneath...

<A HREF="http://customscorecovers.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/man-of-steel-hans-zimmer-2013-version-1.html">
<IMG HEIGHT=400 WIDTH=400 SRC=""></A>

So I changed the text to black and it's a bit better:

<IMG HEIGHT=400 WIDTH=400 SRC=""></A>

And then I did another version with the logo in the centre:

Very nice. :) What do you think of mine?

Thanx.

I'm wasn't the biggest of fans of using the poster image when I was doing mine but I think yours' is well-done. The font we're using is obvs a lil' bit different, notice the 'C's. But the lighter weighted text, like the CMPS and 'Music by' seems to be rough round the edges, try using a little anti-aliasing next time, it smoothens(?) the text out.

Nitpicking over, congrats on the new blog!
Mine's still sparklin' fresh and if I ever manage to polish/complete it or a least get it started, it'll be a miracle.

Could someone make a Titan Quest cover with either of those two images:

View image: cover (http://postimg.org/image/i54vcb4kb/) - I'm using this one now, but "Titan Quest" seems to be kind of densely written and I don't like those letters on the side, so correcting that would be all to it, really.

Hi guys! It's good to be back, and I already caught up. Such amazing things are being posted here--including your artwork for all the various Iron Man movies Sully! Fantastic stuff!

P.S. Sully I just added a link to your 'blog' on my 'other cover designers' page on my website/blog thing. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts!

I haven't had a lot of time to make artwork for the past month because of school, but I whipped this up today really quickly to fill up a hole in my iTunes library...it's the soundtrack to the indie film Beware The Gonzo (which is fantastic in my opinion). EDIT: I RE-DID THE COVER AND IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER NOW! Click for full size!

Jesus, that's a lot of choices. I've seen this image used many times, but you're the first to take it and turn it 90. I like it. I think it would also work really well if you flipped it 180, as if she's falling downwards and away from earth. You should try it.

Can someone please tell me why this image keeps being used in covers? It just makes no goddamn sense. It has none of the characters in it. Remove the title and you have no idea what it is about. Basically it's a tilted Earth with small fragment of debris left over from whoever cleaned the poster image up in the first place.

Apart from that, nice work on giving us forty-two (wowzers!) options to use, tintacle.

I'll tell you why: 'Cause it's flippin' awesome!

Sometimes less is more, and for those who like a more simplistic approach, this is another option (besides the lonely Sandy cruising to her death in the void of space...).

And apart from the distant silhouette of Man of Steel turning back time, it's a pretty darn clean image.

Yeah, but if we started using awesome images for covers instead of images that were relevant, we'd make covers from National Geographic images. Just put in 'cool wallpapers' on Google and there's your next Django Unchained cover. :)

But it's not simplistic either, considering the subject it's actually excessive with the huge-ass flare on the light source (the almighty Sun, I know but still there are ways to show the Sun in an image without over-blowing it).

As the Captain of the Axiom famously said: "It's completely relevant!"

It's a poster from the movie, not just a random image off Google!
