Stunning.

On a different note, I've tried searching but to no avail, did I imagine someone here (or did I find them elsewhere) do covers for the Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings in the style of The Hobbit covers?
If so, could anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction?
Also, if the artist is present, is it too much to ask for an additional cover for The Rarities Archive, done in the same style ?

Hehe... :)

I think Sulley's works are fantastic as well! He sort of evolved from the 'good soul' of the thread (the one who's always on and has an ear for literally everyone) into a damn good, creative and highly productive cover designer..

For a huge fan of Miller's Mad Max saga, and a fan of Junkie's scores, this is the VERY FIRST time I've been impressed with the movie and it's score at the same time.

Here's an example: Zimmer's scores to "Inception", "Interstellar", and "The Dark Knight" series(w/ JNH) was surprisingly amazing as a standalone. Brian Tyler's scores to "Fast Five", "Furious 7", and more recently "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was great as well. But Junkie XL's score to "Mad Max: Fury Road" gets a A+ with the movie and it's score in my book.

after a long hiatus, here's an update to my recent custom covers...lots of the titles specially those who are b-movies or some horror titles (also a huge fan of that) are pitch in to me by a fellow shriner. some are of course recent titles shared here by generous members & fellow score fanatics. a huge thanks to the generosity of all the members sharing their collections with which the passion and the need to create custom covers or additional arts are born into fruition.

skipping the chatters and forward to the point, here are the covers preview.

i was too lazy to put all the links individually so you may just have to visit my playground here (https://tsdfrontcovers.wordpress.com/). sorry about that. :)

Geezuz Kyrst... heidl, what'd you use to make the GIF? Lovely work as always :)

Photoshop. But it didn't turn out how I wanted it. The framerate(?) is too slow and I wanted it to open up more elegantly... or smoothly. Idk, I have to look for a special GIF program which allows more control over the animation.
But it's a start :)

Hi!

Well, i guess you have the same version as i do. From what i 've heard from the fans there's only one true track from the movie, called on HZ.com "Burma" and composed by nick glennie-smith. The other slighty longer cue is "our ways will part" finishing with some tingling percussions. From what i ve heard, the other little cues are not from the movie and they do sound different.

My idea for the cover was basically the logo and parts of it shattering, like in the announcement trailer. I managed to grab the images from a 4K version of the trailer.

Nice work, Nolomax! You've made some really great covers there. I particularly like 1, 3 & 10. Most of the images you've used work well, but a couple are a bit blurry. But I know it's fun to have a go with lots of images. I certainly did that with my Ice Age spree a few weeks ago! :p

If you don't mind my saying so, the logo placement on some covers could use a little improvement - for example, on cover 6 you could have put the logo above the cars, superimposed on the flames. Likewise, on cover 8 there's a glaring space at the top where you could have put the logo, instead of obscuring the oncoming vehicles at the bottom. Also, sometimes the colour you've chosen for the extra text is very similar in tone to the background image, making it quite difficult on the eyes - for example, covers 2, 4 & 9.

I hope you don't mind criticism - I personally appreciate it when people critique my covers, as it helps me improve! Overall, you've done some smashing work (particularly cover 10)!

Nice one. I can see you're trying to stick to the design of the OST. Perhaps consider changing "Music" to "Score" - I think it'd look better. :)
You're right, I have updated, thank you for the advice! :)

I don't mind critisms at all, and i know I take a lot of images ;) For the blurry i try to find nice pictures and sometimes i can't find the right quality but when i put the covers on the iPhone it's look okay so i do it anyway. (I always have a particular scene in mind so i take some weird picture from the trailer or whatever and i never find the right wallpaper maybe when the Blu-Ray comes out i'm gonna take it directly from the movie. Oh and by the way for man of steel if you ever find the picture of henry cavill and amy adams in the desert just before the attack i take it)
Actually for the logo placement every cover here i did maybe 20 alternate versions i put the logo everywear and when i have to choose the one i post it's so hard to decide !
I'm gonna do the modifications and for the text i always try to keep the original color of the logo and sometimes well you know.. i'm gonna try some stuff the cover 2,4,9 (and i also put deluxe edition on the covers because it's the version i have but if you want whitout let me know)

(And for my weird english if you see nonsense sentence tell me because i don't use translator to improve myself and every one advice is welcome)

nolomax, the pictures you use on your covers for Mad Max are awesome, but if you really want to make them better, you should fiddle around with Drop Shadow, Inner/Outer Shadow and Glow, Stroke & Emboss. The text just doesn't stand out. Otherwise, all good.

Nolomax gave me the idea for this one. ;)

It was just an idea - nothing special - but I thought I'd give it a go. Here you have the original "Snyder" version, and then my enhanced "Superman" version. I've not really tried enhancing colours before, but I think this really needed it lol.

I love those covers so much, Sulley! I was watching this video where some guys tweaked Man of Steel in video lab and restored the original colour instead of that horrible filter that Snyder used... I prefer the cover on the right. Also, try sticking the "Complete score" above "Man of Steel", and the bottom of the image should be "Music Composed by Hans Zimmer". One last thing, reduce the amount of gap between "music composed by" and "Hans Zimmer" and you're golden.

Another idea would be to tweak the background image. A little adjustment of contrast and brightness oftentimes does wonders. Or apply a vignette effect, maybe in different colours. The possibilites are literally endless.

I'd personally try putting the logo at the top (like you've done on number 2), then putting "Music by..." directly underneath "Black", with the composer's name larger than the "Music by" (like you've done on number 1), but aligned left, not centre, then I'd put "Original Series Soundtrack" in the bottom right corner, aligned right.

Make sense? It might look terrible, but hey, you don't know till you try. :)

Anyway, I need to finish getting ready for bed. Me tired.

First things first, JPS - your attempt at a cover for Interstellar is phenomenal. If you're going to keep tweaking it I suggest the second one because the text placement is more organic and less cramped. Having the composer credit at the bottom was a smart intuition; it works well with contrast and is far less obtrusive on that particularly beautiful image of Gargantua. The title text is tricky but I think it should be resolved with a sharper, less feathered shadow. Again, absolutely phenom.

Secondly, I'm observing a distinct yet inexplicable "Holkenborg" frenzy. Seriously? Why? His scores plainly sit on the mediocre range of any spectrum and you're acting like he's the next musical prodigy, not a washed-out DJ lacking even the slightest fragment of significant contribution to electronic music prior to his delving into mainstream film scoring (because, obviously, of all thresholds, film composition is the most accurate measure... come on, guys). On a related note, Lockdown the above wasn't specific to you but who could possibly ever have any interest in the score for The Happy Wife? That form of completism is a compulsion reaching kleptomania-levels of worry and severity.

I happen to enjoy the score once I listened to it, in some tracks it has some beautiful cello solos, and no, it does not have the RCP filter sound, it sounds like a genuine instrument to me, and I am in the orchestra. Thanks for your opinion, but I will continue to listen to his music no matter what you say about it. Sorry.

Yeah, I see what you mean. But I love the image so much I had to try! I think where I've put the text works fairly well though.

Of course, Sulley. It works, it surely does!
Maybe it's me, because I'm not really a fan of soft drop-shadows.
I think I would either put a centered dark or maybe light-grey box behind the text.
Or put everything in a frame and try to keep the text outside of the main image.
Idk... these are just thoughts.

It was more than that. Words were exchanged. Trust me, she was flirting :p

As long as it was only words everything should be cool ;)

Left, right is a very close second but the proportions are perfect and that Indigo/Iris colour is just gorgeous; in fact, I'd add a little more thickness to the inner stroke, but not too much (somewhere in between left and center). If you're handcrafting these, this is absolutely brilliant work.

Didot is the official Interstellar font, but they varied the font faces within the logo (from bold to thin and back).

Sulley, your new version is a major improvment to the first one. It really works now! Very well done, my friend!

Tintacle, I really like Version 9. I don't know why, but there's something about the colouring and shading that gives it a really timeless quality. I also had to giggle at the last one and its placement of the additional text. Very clever and greatly executed as well.

On a side note, has anyone seen the official Inside Out cover yet?

A while back, Helix had created some covers for Christopher Drake's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns animated film score. Those were awesome. I really love this soundtrack very much (it is my absolute favorite for anything Batman-related) and wanted to do my own. I used an element from one of Helix's (the "soundtrack and music by" labeling) and put it against THE iconic image of Frank Miller's saga with DC Animated's really bold and simple logo design. Enjoy!

Those MoS covers are great, Jason! Nice to see you here again. They look like they'd fit in with the cover I recently produced with Kal and Lois in the desert. What font did you use, and did you put some kind of faint shadow behind the text?

I love those BTTF covers. The only idea I had was that the wheel on III be changed to the train wheel used in the movie but, that would mess up the flow of the artwork when placed side by side.

Thanks Sully! You're right, they'd work very well in a collection together. I think they all feel similar because they are all screenshots. :)

The font is "Gotham Medium" and yes, I did a very faint shadow. 65% opacity. :)

This one could use a proper cardboard box to house the 3 vinyls inside (and maybe a fullsized liner notes booklet). Somebody should design those...

Sometimes I prefer an image that's not a perfect square, but just a little more. Sometimes I like the way it looks in iTunes or on my iPhone. It has a more "cinamatic" look. Almost like it's widescreen. ;)

That's a nice idea. But then the cover isn't as big, because it has to stay within the width limits of iTunes.

For your consideration... (this is the only one I have in my library atm, only because I've not been bothered to make a proper cover for it yet. :p)

I know your MoS cover wasn't that thin, but the same principle applies...

Not to be irritating, but seriously guys, I've read the all thread, 280 pages, and the general audience blockbusters take a far too large place in it, in my opinion.

Does all Interstellar images really need to be used? Soon there will be more Interstellar cover art than Interstellar OST tracks.

And your problem with that is...? Seriously, this thread is dedicated to custom cover art. It doesn't matter what films the art is from. If you don't like a cover, just scroll past it and carry on with your life.

Does all Interstellar images really need to be used? Soon there will be more Interstellar cover art than Interstellar OST tracks.

Oh yes, definitely. It might take a while, but yes. Every image. Not a single one left unused.

Oh, and for the record, the OST only had 16 tracks.

What size is the source image of this one?
I'm thinking if it's possible to crop it down so that the launching rocket is about as far from the top edge, as the farmhouse is from the bottom one. You could then add the vertical interstellar logo (the text-only version) over the rockets' launch-trail of fire and smoke . It could work pretty good with that light/dark background.

First let me say that the overall design looks pretty good.

The problem I have with that image is the space shuttle launching, because there is no space shuttle featured in the movie. Therefore, the image just doesn't work for me as an "Interstellar" cover.
