According to rumors, The Wolverine 2 will take place between The Wolverine and DoFP. Maybe they'll bother to give us an explanation then.

My theory is that Magneto rearranged the placing of adamantium on his body to be back on his claws again.

Those rumors, if true, would be great news indeed. I need me some more Yukio before we never see her again :laugh: and Mariko was also an interesting character. In my opinion, both actresses held themselves really well, for it to be their first experience on a film of this scope, and they're very convincing in her respective parts for a "first" movie. I hope to see more from these characters instead of getting lost in the wind of messy continuity that is the X-Men.

About the claws, in X-Men 2 Magneto says that 'Stryker is the only other man I know capable of manipulating adamantium', implying that he has some experience with the element himself. I always figured he'd know where to find it, and with the help of the team, they'd travel there and restore the metal on Logan's claws fairly easily.

I like the addition of Danny Elfman's name on the side. I was about to suggest you add it until I looked more closely and there it was! :O

I just read/heard a podcast featuring Elfman a few days ago, in which he said that he took Silvestri's Avengers theme and morphed it into a hybrid new theme for this film. If his name alone wasn't enough to get me excited for this score, that information certainly ramps up the expectations!! :D It's nice to see that Marvel are taking thematic continuity more seriously these days, and even though Silvestri's work on Avengers has mixed opinions, I'm glad that it won't be lost in oblivion in favor of a new theme.

Getting into the Wolverine discussion, the adamantium didn't replace his bones. It was injected into him in liquid form, and the adamantium fused over his bones. It was believed for years that his claws were manufactured during this processed, but this was retconned in 1993 in X-Men #25 when Magneto literally rips all of the adamantium out of Wolverine's body, revealing his bone claws in Wolverine #75 (which came out the next month). He got his adamantium back in 2000 when Apocalypse rebonded it to his skeleton. I wonder if this is how he will get his adamantium in the alternate, post-DoFP timeline since Stryker doesn't get his hands on him.

03-21-2015, 01:59 PM
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Stryker doesn't snatch Logan away regardless. All we know so far is that Mystique rescued him, but there's no indication as to what does she do with him (set him free, for instance?); and once she stops being him, the real Stryker could still get a hold of Logan.

Can someone enlighten me as to how to save an audio file that plays in the background on a webpage? I've checked the HTML for audio extensions (.mp3, etc) but with no luck, and it seems Macs don't store temporary internet files like PC's do, blast it.

Download this program: https://rogueamoeba.com/piezo/

Install it, open it, select the program to be whatever your web browser is. Restart the browser, hit record on the program, and navigate to the webpage. Make sure your volume is all the way up. Sit back, relax, and let it record the audio. Hit the record button again when it's done.

I think you have to pay like $20 to unlock the full version of the program but you can do up to 10 mins. of audio without any static being added in...once the static is in then you quit the program and restart it and the limitation is refreshed.

That's the weird thing! I did exactly that. I know how to narrow down Google searches, and search by image instead of words, etc, but I didn't come up with anything!

Does that record the audio 'third-party' so to speak? I'm more looking at nabbing the actual audio file. As I said, I did manage it once on a PC by opening the webpage and then navigating to my PC's Temporary Internet Files and there it was, just waiting to be copied to my music folder and renamed. But I can't figure out a way of doing that on a Mac.

Agreed. Would love a better CD release than the original!

I'm SO glad we have the complete score. There are times (like last night) when I can't get over just how beautiful it is. Some absolutely stunning writing. I'm torn between wishing Newman had been asked to score the subsequent sequels on the one hand, and being glad that Powell could have a chance on the other, as I love Powell's scores too.

James P.Sullivan
03-22-2015, 04:45 PM
We have the complete score leaked indeed, but in MP3 and not the best quality possible, that's why I wish there was a complete CD quality release. Anyway, yes it is! I've always loved it since I was a child. But I honestly also adore John Powell's score for the third one.

I have it in FLAC. I think Funny uploaded it for me a while ago.

And don't get me wrong - as I said, I also love Powell's scores, particularly Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Buck's theme is amazing! So beautifully English.

James P.Sullivan
03-22-2015, 06:07 PM
Is there really a good difference in that FLAC version, is it really really good? If it is, I'd like a private share! ^^

I superlove Powell's scores. Bolt, Horton, Ice Age 3, and How To Train Your Dragon 2 are among my favourites of his. Forgot Kung Fu Panda. Also like Alexandre Desplat, Joel McNeely (his Tinkerbells are amazing, and his country scores too), etc... I don't get his english influence in the theme, but he does have the accent! I got that ever since I first saw it, hehe.

Tbh, I really can't be bothered to strain my ears hard enough to hear a difference, so I don't know. But as far as I know it's true lossless. I can send you a link if you'd like. Me too. He is totally awesome.

Some more customs; I have spoiler-tagged all the images to avoid a wall of pictures. As always, these are clickable and will take you to the larger size. I cap my files at 1024x1024 because that's the max filesize my Sonos system accepts, and it's plenty big for all tablet-sized resolutions as well. So no 1440 sized ones here.

I try to include names of films so this will come up in thread searches. Comments/critiques welcome.

These are more "tweaks" of the art that came with the releases, to match the FSM stuff. I like to keep separate albums for the expanded score, the OST, and the alterate/source tracks, but I often leave the differences subtle. Anyway, here's Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Final Frontier in those three versions, and The Search for Spock as two versions:

Next up are the same 3 versions of Goldsmith's The Mummy (1999):

(http://imgur.com/O2AJKir) (http://imgur.com/4Sxomu7) (http://imgur.com/WRNjiLh)

And some more Danny Elfman: Alice in Wonderland (multiple versions, for your pleasure):

(http://imgur.com/9R299pX) (http://imgur.com/L5gp8vr) (http://imgur.com/dP085t5)

Next is some Narnia love (these are "themed" - one shot is a landscape, one is Aslan, and one is an "enemy" in each movie: (yes, I know I used a promotional image from Dawn Treader for the Aslan in LWW, but it had snow on it which was more appropriate for LWW)

(http://imgur.com/bIvUMWJ) (http://imgur.com/iZqpjMr) (http://imgur.com/2szoPIo)

Finally, some odds and ends:
Bruce Broughton's First Olympics: Athens: 1896: (this is a tweak of the existing art which I felt to be pretty amateurishly executed):
(http://imgur.com/qf3JapM)

John Debney's Elf and Cutthroat Island:
(http://imgur.com/iftl33Y) (http://imgur.com/ni6EGu3)
(http://imgur.com/YPD70BZ) (http://imgur.com/XJNJvxQ)

Giacchino's John Carter:
(http://imgur.com/thpAjmM) (http://imgur.com/DuxvmWS)

Eshkeri's Stardust (again, a tweak on two of these, and an "original take" on the third; it's hard to find good sources for this movie already; had to build the logo from scratch, and I'm not entirely satisfied with the result):
(http://imgur.com/LKHXwUP) (http://imgur.com/flV2zR1) (http://imgur.com/JSxCqQn)

Sure, Trajan is a great font. Set on white, however, and it loses its impact – especially on my covers. And it doesn't really work in black, either; then the covers lose their rawness. The font is just too light and delicate.

I thought so too, Sulley...

Actually I've been thinking a while now... and the last blackout made me to take action.

Everybody, I ventured to set up a backup board called "The FFShrine Backup Forums"

--->>> Head along HERE (http://ffshrine.forumatic.com/)

If Sarah is right, and I really hope so, we may never ever need it. But it annoys me too much to donate again and again for the continuation of a discussion board. And who knows, may be the next dropout is the final one? So as I said, I set up an empty backup, a white space for emergencies. Feel free to register there and never visit or ignore it completely. I don't care. It is intended only as refuge for rainier days. And also, most importantly, the download sections were left out deliberately, because... you know why.

It's for keeping contact - Not sharing content.

Hi guys!!!! I'm so so so glad the forum is back!

I am also back with a brand new cover! Recently, Brad Breeck, the composer of the music for Gravity Falls, uploaded excerpts from the score for season one of the show to Soundcloud. I took them all, downloaded them, organized them (in chronological order) and tagged them accordingly. Then I made custom art for them!

Enjoy! If you click on the image, you'll be re-directed to my deviantART post, which has a link to download the score (it's 87 tracks long!). There you can also get the full-res cover as well.

Has anybody already tried to come up with something for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD?

I wanted to create some nice customs for it, but so far the whole ad campaign is a complete desaster. There are maybe 1-2 alternate posters that would be worth a try, but the official ones are all total trash.

Man, this film holds such a promise, most of all visually, but the marketing team doesn't live up to it at all.

Spoilered for size, here they are. I've always gone with the "less is more" approach, and therefore I think these images will do just fine. For me, anyway.

These guys vary slightly as the texture in the background of the letters is a little different in each one:

And as for these ones - I've never been too fond of using actual screenshots from a film for a custom cover, but maybe they can work, I don't know...

A couple of Kamen scores:

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (in two flavors)
The TT had to be reconstructed from a couple of different typefaces (the R in particular was very distinctive, but never matched the rest of the letters). Played around a lot with kerning settings on the fonts over a low-res master image.
I wish the art poster were higher resolution; at 100% it's got noticeable artifacting. The photo one is, of course, of Hadrian's Wall, where one of the early scenes of the movie takes place. With that tree, I think.

(http://imgur.com/7XCZuCx) (http://imgur.com/kmSTZtp)

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen:
Using the Mondo art. The parchment background is supposed to harken to the era of the film, and to the idea that the image is "coming off the page," as it were, but it's also a bit of a fudge since the poster won't fit on a square by its lonesome. TT is just pure "Americana" font, so I used the same for the rest of the text.
(http://imgur.com/0tLxj8t)

And a couple of variations on Paul Shipper's art for Jaws.
I love his poster; I had to find a textless version, which wasn't big enough resolution, so I had to use just a bit of it to flesh out a higher-res image, then added the TT and text. I had to do a lot of moving around of the Orca to fit her in on the square cover (the poster has her much smaller and further down). I also tried to stick with period-appropriate type for the information (I believe it's Goudy Old Style, which was big in the '70s and early '80s).

I like the red, but find it can be a bit much by itself, so I wanted a version that hit the "teal and red" of the original poster, so played around a bit with colors. I like the dual colored versions better personally, but I present all for your perusal.

wow, so many great, GREAT additions from you guys!!

@Helix: These are all awesome (just like we're expecting from you by now...)
I've also used the first image in my customs and it's interesting to see another approach for it. Given by the font type it almost seems as if you've created a real JAYASAURUS original ;-)

The next one has the Mondo stamp all over it. Really beautiful, and I prefer the even more minimalistic version w/o the OST wording

The last one's definitely the best! Prometheus is SUCH a good movie/score to work on. The possibilities (and source images) are endless. Nice Vinyl label by the way (as always!).
I can share some mockups psd templates tonight, if you want to bring in a little variety?

@Stinkor: Man, this is golden! Thanks for sharing
Reading your thoughts is like hearing me talk to myself. You really put a lot of effort into these and it pays off big time.

Thanks man! I still feel like I should've spent more time on this one, I wasn't really inspired when I was working on this considering I was burned out by the expanded one. I started working on this one just after I fixed the expanded digipak. What I know is you're prolly gonna nail it. :) Looking forward to it!

BTW, Jayasaurus uses a light weight of Gotham usually, this is definitely some other typeface (I forgot which one I used specifically).

Me too! The OMPS text or for that matter any other text just felt too much for the image.

I had to work on the LP one for a minute before posting but I spent the most time on this one. Tweaking, retouching, the works. Wanted to remix some old vinyl design elements, along with some of my own weird additions, this time around instead of just reworking or adapting them.
And more mock-ups are welcome. I do have some more but they are huge, as in two files open and scratch disks go bye-bye. Running PS and Chrome with a tad more than the standard two hundred tabs(with Great Suspender) becomes a nightmare. I'm always thinking, well one day I'll close everything else and just focus on PS but that day has yet to come.

So, heidl's amazing foray into the Alien universe has come to end...or do I perhaps smell some Prometheus covers cooking behind the scenes?

Nonetheless, you continue to astound us with your artistry, and I sincerely hope that we continue to see more from you for a long time to come.

EDIT: Didn't even check your blog before posting this. Glad to see you continuing the project to the other franchise entries. Can't wait to see them!

The day I have created enough customs for every possible ALIEN movie is the day I will start making new ones for every possible and impossible ALIEN video game and what not (There probably will be a sequel to Alien Isolation After all).

Thank you so much for your flattering words. This really means a lot to me!

You're welcome!

I saw this one when I was looking around for a better image but this is also problematic. If I crop it, either the big grey owl's head gets chopped off or the shiny mask on the book gets cut off mid-stream. The problem is the composition of the image, too many things to keep track of and the image is tight.

Running PS and Chrome with a tad more than the standard two hundred tabs(with Great Suspender) becomes a nightmare. I'm always thinking, well one day I'll close everything else and just focus on PS but that day has yet to come.

I'll post a few PSD's for you (and everyone else) in the next days. But some of them are also pretty big, so beware. I normally only open Photoshop and iTunes (to create the right mood). Chrome is only open occasionally when I need to identify a font type or when I'm looking for a certain logo or stuff. The whole "research" process normally takes place before the first Photoshop action. But because of this I often times end up with hundrets of source files. Anything slightly usable will get saved to disk. I sort it out later.

These are all screencaps right?
Will you make actual album covers based on these?
I'm still not sure if I'll waste my time on this movie/soundtrack. I have listened to the first track preview from Junkie XL recently and it's just so goddamn uninspirational... idk

Actually it has...on the underground. It was privately released on Soundcloud by the record company and that playlist was featured in a Rolling Stone article. I downloaded them all and tagged them, and I can send it to you if you'd like! It's 10 tracks.

So I just recently made a group on here and if you guys want to join message me!

It's a group where people can ask what fonts were used in the promotional material for various movies/tv shows/video games/etc and someone will try and find it for them, preferably with a link to download.

While I'm no great fan of these films (far from it, in fact), I do have some admiration for Giacchino in general, and for the art of Paul Shipper. So I have these covers based on his posters for the new "Star Trek" films, Star Trek '09 and Star Trek: Into Darkness. (Star Trek in quotes there quite deliberately.) Lots of rearranging of elements for these, including borrowing from the comic covers Shipper did for the ST:ID releases.

I put these in a frame for two reasons: 1) I like the use of the frame as a visual element, and use it in a lot of my covers. Various music display programs either have a black or white background, so when you view cover art in them sometimes it looks like the edges get lost, and I hate that. This helps to fight that tendency. Also, 2) the FSM Trek releases used this frame, and I like the visual continuity in my collection. I do not have non-frames versions for these (I didn't compose it for without the frame, so don't ask).

The "stars" on the outer edge of the frame are likewise from Paul Shipper's paintbrush--they're from the edges of his Buck Rogers release, with some clone-stamp work to make them go all the way around. Using a photo is a bit jarring. I may go back and fix my other "painted" covers to reflect this as well, not sure yet.

Various flavors for your preferred nomenclature, and two versions of the Trek '09. Click to embiggen for "fullsize".

All this amazing MADness in here convinced me to give Fury Road a chance and who would have known, it turned out to be a lot more "customizable" than I had thought.

So thank you people (especially you, DAK) for inspiring me to get this baby going!

~~~~~~~~
The first one is a toned down version of the original and utilizes the type treatment of the teaser poster. I think I like this colour palette a little better than what ultimately ended up in the final one sheet. It's dirtier and more post-apocalyptic and I prefer these two qualities over the bright saturation of the original artwork.
The following one is probably my favourite fan poster from the Poster Posse gallery. Not only does it feature an iconic image, but also a very 70s like colour palette. I added the original 1979 Mad Max logo and subtitled it with a font ironically called "Gregor Miller's Friends Font". The similarities to the film's director are obvious.
For this logo only cover I used the content area fill tool of Photoshop to create a filthy background wallpaper out of the original film logo. I then superimposed an inverted and downscaled version of the logo and adjusted the colours to make it look more natural.
I already have a few more covers in the bank and will post them a little later when I publish them on my blog. I'm still waiting for one or two really awesome official posters or at least an IMAX or SXSW type of thing. Something memorable...
For this logo only cover I used the content area fill tool of Photoshop to create a filthy background wallpaper out of the original film logo. I then superimposed an inverted and downscaled version of the logo and adjusted the colours to make it look more natural.
I already have a few more covers in the bank and will post them a little later when I publish them on my blog. I'm still waiting for one or two really awesome official posters or at least an IMAX or SXSW type of thing. Something memorable...
I'm usually not one to quote an enite post with so many images, but these are awesome! Thank you so much. I definitely agree with you about the look and feel of the first image about it being more apocalyptic. The final OST image is way too vivid and saturated for this type of film. It looks like it's for a Michael Bay film lol. I also agree about the 2nd image. It has that vintage feel to it, as if it was made for Mad Max.
I like it, but there are a million and one covers for OMPS. CMPS is what Lockdown's after and I agree with him on the request. I think it'd work better, if you could make one. Is there any way to make the wording at the top darker, maybe the same shade as the ground? This way it kinda pops against the grey/white? I think that would look pretty cool
Sure, I can do that tomorrow. I just went to bed moments before... just checking the thread as Part of my daily good night routine ;-)
It looks like you have the sessions, Lockdown, but I'm pretty sure those aren't around. At least not yet. Have you tagged a custom complete with slates?
Fantastic cover, btw, Heidl. Absolutely beautiful. :)
(I guess the next Interstellar avalanche is now inevitable. Helix will be thrilled.)
Hi guys!
Here are alternates covers for "Halloween H20" aka "Portrait Of Terror". I think I might not be the only one to think the official covers for Portrait of terror are incredibly awful so I hope you ll like them. I even included the back cover for once! :) And yes i didn't keep the name of the album, we all know this is the real soundtrack for H20 even if they kept so few at the end. Hope you ll enjoy them :)
Alright, I created logos for all the Star Wars films using the same style that has been used for "The Force Awakens" up to this point. I tried all weekend to make some custom artwork using these but I guess my creative juices were not flowing, I didn't like anything I made. I've got one other idea but I'm not sure how it will turn out.
Anyway, I thought I'd share them hoping some of the other talented people may take a crack at some new artwork. I'm sure we will start seeing more Star Wars artwork as the release date for TFA approaches.
Below are a few examples, here is the link to the full set: Star Wars logos. - Album on Imgur (http://imgur.com/a/CP5A5)
I'm also sharing the Photoshop file (.psd, created in CS6) and the TT font file used for the subtitles (ITC Serif Gothic LT Heavy) here: https://mega.co.nz/#!bwdjyQCa!djKz2jWo3LvfVGXFxIia4M7IJYauxxrxGlKC00C VgtI
Please, fill free to use whatever you want. I'd prefer that the Photoshop file only be shared among folks here but, the imgur images are posted publicly.
Guys, in case you haven't seen it already.
I was incredibly lucky to collaborate with the great and one and only SonicAdventure, Audio virtuoso and board legend.
No, it was the other way round, I was lucky to have you collaborating with me! :)
Awesome covers! But I have a feeling you may need to update the composer's name...
To what? The movie isn't out yet, the Wikipedia page still says Dario Marianelli, and I can't find a composer's name on the IMDb page for Pan.
EDIT: I just checked the official poster for the movie and it indeed says Dario Marianelli. So idk what you're talking about.
I've seen John Powell's name on a Pan poster.
Yeah, Marianelli is gone, Powell is in.
Yeah, Marianelli is gone, Powell is in.
Then they clearly haven't updated their website...I was just on the official movie website today, checked the poster, and Marianelli was on the bottom of the poster (keep in mind this is the poster with the new logo so it must be recent)...weird. I will update it then?
EDIT: I just went to Powell's IMDb page and he's not credited for Pan so idk what's going on...
EDIT AGAIN: That same poster (with Marianelli's name on it) was posted to the official Facebook page for the movie YESTERDAY. So where'd you get the info about Powell composing it?
FSM Board: Dario Marianelli OUT, Powell IN: PAN (2015) (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=106920&forumID=1&archive=0)
'According to one source that I trust, Marianelli is out and John Powell is in.'
'That said, if Marianelli wrote and recorded a score for "Pan" that was legitimately rejected by the studio then this is indeed bad news'
Weeeeeeeeeeeeird. I wrote a message to the movie's team via their official Facebook page...we'll see if they respond. If Marianelli is out, I wonder why this hasn't been reflected in the new promotional material for the movie yet...
I mean I love Powell a lot (HTTYD's scores were amazing) but yeah, it's a shame. I wanted to hear what Marianelli would've done for it.
What's even more sad is that they chose to drop him this late in the game, after he probably had the majority already composed...
There are many reliable sources (and a few unreliable ones) who are saying that Marianelli has been rejected and that John Powell will begin recording his replacement score.
The newest poster indeed appears online with Marianelli's name, but almost instantaneously a similar one appeared with Powell's.
I think we will know more in the next couple days. Once the dust settles…
That said, I REALLY like your artwork!
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:48 PM ----------
Oh, also as a rule of thumb, IMDB is often the LAST place to find accurate information on a movie…
Apparently these changes to the composer are very much occurring "in the moment", so I'm not surprised the the film's official site and social media channels haven't been updated to reflect the change.
I'm glad to have a live-action Powell score that ISN'T a Bourne-style Drum-n-Bass score. Should be fun! But yeah, I wish we could've heard Marianelli's take. That FSM thread seems to indicate that nothing was recorded yet - just in the form of synth mockups.
@nolomax - I really like your covers, particularly your Iron Man ones. Great work! And welcome to the non-existent CCCC (Custom Covers Contributor's Club). :)
Just a suggestion - maybe place the Iron Man logo above Iron Man on your last cover. That's the logical place, as there's more space.
