Did anyone like my "Mockingjay" covers?

Well, looks to me like 7 people did. :)

I'm divided on whether I like #2 or #3 the best (on #1 the film title/logo was too small for me personally). Though I would like to see the name of the artist on there somewhere. On #3 it could go near the bottom. On # 1 and 2 I'm not sure...

Oh, you're right :D

I actually did this for the soundtrack and not the score, because I like that one's artwork... but I could add JNH's name there if anyone'd like to.
I think #1 would be the best for a vinyl edition.

I already did custom covers for several movies but I can't remember another right now... if I do, I'll post something.

By all means, join the fracas. ;) You'll find that you do often need to give people a little nudge to get them to say something. I myself am guilty of the lazy "click on the like button and then not actually take time to type something". Other times though, a conversation will start and it will last for pages. lol

So here's my idea for IM2. I decided to try and recreate the helmet front from the Mk. V 'Suitcase' armour, as it's the most identifiable from IM2. What do you all think?

Haha, thanks Heidl!

At last, here's Iron Man 3 with the Mk. XLII helmet. It took me quite a while to remodel the helmet front, referring back visually to a photo of a Mk. XLII. I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out, considering I didn't use any template - just my eyes. I haven't even seen the film yet! Let me know any thoughts.

Back again you guys! I'm not sure any of you watch these shows but in case people of the internet watch them and they happen to come across this thread, then here they are. It's a set of covers for the television show soundtracks (music used in the episodes) of all the ABC Family shows currently running right now (minus Twisted and Ravenswood, which just got canceled in the middle of last year).

Click the mosaic to be re-directed to the post containing all the full sized covers.

Edit: PS: If you do want to try watching any of these shows then I whole-heartedly recommend The Fosters. It has excellent writing, a great cast, and great representation.

What do you think of my Iron Man covers? Any criticism is welcome!

I love them! When I started doing covers I was a HUGE fan of covers that had movie stills, but as I've kept doing this I started to like covers that follow the 'less is more' aesthetic more and more and now I actually prefer them.

I super like them. Maybe what you could do to do the grunge background is take the Iron Man cover, crop out the mask and the logo and make those transparent...then make a new cover with the same dimensions, same color red, and just add a grunge effect to the background, then add the logo and mask back in. I know there's a script-fu available for doing just this (the grunge effect). Script-Fu Usure Abrasion GIMP Chat (http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7005) I use this script all the time--I used it to make some District 9 covers like, a month back.

Using the infamous "NO!" quote from The Office is basically saying in my mind one of the following:

A. It wasn't good enough.
B. It was fantastic, but honestly people should stop posting these Interstellar covers
C. I love these covers for Interstellar, keep them coming
Or D. None of the above.

PS - Fantastic work on the "Iron Man" trilogy Sully.... They're honestly better than mine.

Oh that's what you were referring to! Sorry, I hadn't realised. There were three posts with covers inbetween, so it wasn't clear. Haha, yeah, it meant kind of a combination of all of those! Lol, people can keep posting Interstellar covers as much as they like. Although I think there can't be any more images on the Internet that haven't already been used!

Thank goodness I decided to use a diagram of the Endurance.

The original image had a blast through one of the pods on the ship. So, I took it in for some editing and "Poof!" the ship was fixed in normal state. When I saw the Mockingjay cover, that gave me the idea to make the box + cover. The box = the first half of it, and the cover is the second half, just opposite colors.

And the IM images are either on my blog, or I'll have to find them myself.

I, too, really like movie stills covers, but have also grown, like you, to really appreciate simpler, unique designs.

I will have a look at the grunge background and see of I can do anything. If it's too time-consuming, I may not be able to update them any time soon.

@heidl, the vinyl looks great but the best thing for me was the way you put the titles all slanted and on line, good stuff. Also, I feel like I'm missing out on fully appreciating the vinyl label because the image is too small to see all the shenanigans in there. I was going to make some JA covers, thought I'd listen to it first since apparently everyone and their grandmothers are head over heels in love with it.

@Sully, great job on those IM helmet covers, they're like a collection type thing and they look pretty awesome, big fan of minimalism here too. Yes, although it seemed impossible, as I found out during looking for stuff to use when I was doing covers for Tyler's Interstellar edits, we are, and I wish I could calm my distraught heart, running out of stuff to use. Oh and welcome to our extremely exclusive club of random-post-askers. We are uncomfortable all the time so please adjust and remember, a member who doesn't worry that they might irritate people is a misguided member, they will worry and once they do, they will never stop.

Oh, you're not going to kill me. Now.
It wasn't easy to make, Clark. It took years and cost a fortune.
Luckily, I had both.
I didn't have to go easy on you. A different binding agent, a stronger mix... I want you to remember that.
I wanted to remind you to stay out of my way.
In all the years to come, in your most private moments,
I want you to remember the one man who beat you!

Here's hoping Lockdown re-ups the Deluxe Edition.

I meant after work obvs. the thing that's weird is that I literally sleep around my laptop (like it's a teddy bear or summat, don't wanna let it go!) and making covers or listening to music or watching movies and experiencing other forms of art keeps me going honestly. Most jobs especially tedious ones or labour-based ones suck the life out of you and things like this sort of help in recharging at the end of the day, so much so that anywhere else you just keep on thinking what things to do or write or see when you get back when you're out. :)

It's the Mark VII a.k.a the humongous-capsule-that-uses-colantotte(suckiest product placement of the year)-to-take-over-you-and-turn-you-into-a-super-powered-ass-kicker Suit from The Avengers. The image is from one of their promo one-sheets for individual characters.

Here's another version. It's not as high res as the last one, but at least it's the correct suit. Could somebody either give me some tips on how to clear the background behind the suit or actually do it themselves and post it here? I think it would look better.

Funnily enough, I've got more ideas for more Iron Man covers coming up. I hope nobody minds this influx of covers one particular movie (not that that hasn't happened here before... yes, I'm looking at you Helix and Jayasaurus!)

It's a great cover, but I feel like something is a bit "off" about it too.

Maybe it's because, for whatever reason, the human mind finds the left side of the face more pleasing... we're looking at Iron Man's right side.

Flip the background image and see if it looks better. That's all I can think of.

I'm sorry, what? I could have sworn that was James Bond. But whatever. There has been some strange Interstellar cover art here before...

Whatever movie they're from, ts151268, your covers are good, but they're horrendously busy, particularly the second. Maybe find some slightly simpler posters? Removing the swirl from each would do them all good, as it almost looks like 007 is breathing smoke out of his nostrils and it just adds yet another complication to the covers.

I customized nearly all Bond Soundtrack covers from some original Poster-artwork I could find and especially posters from Tomorrow Never Dies are loaded with 'action'.
I noticed that with the smoke. It was supposed to be some kind of watermark, I added it to all my Bond covers. It is the legendary Bond Gunbarrel and it works quite well on some of the other covers I made......... mostly because there is no face nearby to make it look like he is breathing smoke.

*weeping in embarrassment* oh..god.....th..th.thanks....design business? I wouldn't even know what to tell anyone if they asked me what that was. I do this for fun (sounds very cocky, I know, but what am I supposed to say). I'm not that good at it yet but I think I'm improving. As far as the logo treatment goes, yup! Hated the chunky font with the super-sized 'BATMAN' logo and tried to switch things around a little. The most obvious route was to space out Gotham (the font) and go the movie way but that was boring so I went with the one you see now which is classier, maybe. More Wayne certainly. :)

Indeed I do. Just as a hobby. ;)

Mainly film music for string quartet. My best one so far was an arrangement of "Baby Walks" by David Newman from the first (and best) Ice Age. I think I have a recording somewhere...

At the moment, I'm rushing to finish arranging a double choir piece for quartet, which is getting quite difficult, having to transpose from tenor-treble (an octave lower than standard treble clef) and bass clef to alto clef for the viola. I hate alto clef, but I suppose it has its uses lol. But I suppose all this is useful for my theory practise. Grade 8 in July seems very daunting right now, as does my grade 8 violin.

I completely agree. The first is perfect. I literally can't fault it for anything. The second is very good (some great comic moments, suspense, and action sequences), but there are some bits that defy both physics and logic. Then, if you can get your mind past the fact of the impossible "lost world" under the ice, the third film is quite good, with a few funny moments. But there's virtually no ice in the entire film. They should have called it Jurassic Age. And the fourth? Like you, best not to get me started about that one. By gum, was it awful. No sense of danger at all. The villains were beyond pathetic. And what a waste of potential with a premise like the continental drift! They could have done so much more. And I think I laughed... twice?

I'll see if I can find the recording. :)

I wish I knew what any of that meant... :)

lol... I'll make a limited run for you Britains as well, ok? ;)

So, where can we download this, I don't see it on your site? If you are done fixing the error.

I still have two more designs to finish AND wrap it all around some deep-thought well-written prosa of mine (= wrestle out at least a few thoughts to justify my "blog")
I appreciate your request though. Now I feel like a celebrity :-D

This is great! I didn't realise we have so many talents around here.

At Lockdown's request, we return to all that is wondrous and right in this world. Recreated in all it's imperfections is the actual FYC artwork for the most glorious of all scores. It is a two-disc digipak style release. Used some (http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTERSTELLAR-For-Your-Consideration-Best-Original-Score-FYC-CD-HANS-ZIMMER-/391051542638?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b0c7d006e) eBay listing images as references. For embedding into music files (is it 24-bit FLAC? if not, why not? are you insane?) and folders you can cut and crop yourself but beware, the front cover cannot be cut in a square because apparently that's too mainstream for Warner and Paramount.

@corysun - Nice work on Iron Man 3. Anything IM is nice to see. However, I think we may be back to the old discussion on suits. Am I correct in thinking that's the Mk. VI? Or is there one like the Mk. VI in IM3? I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know. Any thoughts, DAK, Helix?

Indeed, Mk. VI (my fav :)) it is and from the second movie not the third. I was going to point this out but then I decided to make a cover about it. ;)

:) indeed.

I solved that with some great help from Sully who did some detective work and we figured out that if a post is given approximately an hour, the next post will not attach itself to the previous one. It will stand alone. In this dark shadowy world, in a most epic manner, primed for a one-sheet and a logo treatment.

Sully, I was already halfway into this one when you asked for an FYC one, hope this works! That one unfortunately is too in-your-face for an FYC cover. FYC covers tend to be simple, subtle, and as minimal as practical.

Yeah, the red and gold were clashing with the background horribly. So, instead I tried blue and silver. I have a thing with this logo actually, i used a deep red-purple theme on the Expanded cover too. I don't know exactly what's wrong with it maybe it's too glossy or something but it just doesn't work for me. Somehow, it's worse than those that came before it. Originally, I was going to remove the MARVEL logo but then I realized that it's going to have a studio logo as its an FYC anyway, so I let it be.

Okay, how about tinkering with the classic - The Godfather, Part I and II? While I do like Part III's cover with older Michael kind of praying, the first two seem terribly...uninspired. This is especially true in regard to Part II and I'm curious if'd be possible to make a cover out of the following two images:

I am seriously suffering from Iron Man overdose here. I present here yet another cover, this time for IM3. I cropped the original image, added the "3" in the title, and then put in the usual other text. Let me know what you think.

It doesn't look bad, but you need to see the main picture too attentively to notice IM in there. Also, the I in IRON is too apart from the rest.

I noticed Iron Man in there very easily. But maybe that's just my brain lol. I didn't make this image, nor did I write the IRON MAN letters, so I'll have to actually edit the image to move the "I". It's easily done, though. Thanks for the input. :)

Oh, and for those of you who were interested in listening to my string quartet arrangement of "4m38 Baby Walks", the recording seems to have been on a USB drive that is now busted. I'm going to have to try and get it restored sometime, hopefully without any loss of data. There's 32GB of photos/videos on there. :/

This is teriffic! How do you always come up with those custom front motifs? The cover as a whole looks very modern and contemporary to me, despite the old record cover treatment. Maybe it's the font types or the clean and sharp edges, or that pristine image of Iron Man himself, Idk. Either way it's fantastic.
But is there a typo in Gwyneth?
Thanks! I was browsing through some covers on a LP Cover Art gallery site (lpcover.wordpress.com) and saw some interesting soundtrack covers and with me and Sully going through Stark-mania at the moment, it seemed only a matter of how long until I'd be forced to open a new document. Oh and yes I sort of quick typed the whole credits text in one go and never rechecked, good spot! I'll fix it.

And Oi! wth? You're not from the mother island of rock, beer and football? What am I missing?
All I said was that the Americans were getting exclusivity of that JA digipak while every other 250+ countries are left with damp, moldy copies of their retail soundtracks which is just so tremendously heart-shattering that I had to at least try on their behalf. Well, at least the Britons got lucky! ;)

And Sully, good job on the Supes, DoFP and the IM3 ones. The suit in your last is visible, if you're looking for it. The DoFP image is too crowded, you did your best though.

If I am selfish, Prince, it is because YOU are. If I am ruthless and reckless and lacking in morals, it is because YOU are. I did not spin myself from out of the ether, I was not conjured by some mad vizier;
I am YOU!
No, I have seen the error of my ways, and I have atoned for the trangressions of my past. I am no longer that person.
Seasons change, tastes change. But people... people never change. You delude yourself believing otherwise. Do not fight me. Set down your sword; embrace me. Do you mean to kill me then, to cut me down like all your other enemies? SWING THAT SWORD, PRINCE!
We'll see how well that works. Such violence, your anger serves only to feed me. So I have to ask, have you really changed?
After all, I'm still right here standing before you.

The most frustrating thing about this set was doing TDKR. I finished BB and was really pleased with the result. Then I did TDK and was even happier. Then I started to look over the TDKR posters and whatnot for ideas and there just wasn't that much in the way of good images. And even most of the good ones are so busy and even convoluted that there un-usable for something of this nature. Oh well, I did the best I could.

Sometimes, the sheer laziness and extreme lack of taste on display from the distributors and marketers of motion pictures in advertising, memorabilia or nowadays, interactive feature extras like games and trading cards etc. forces us, the common folk to rise up and alter it and correct their mistakes and give it the treatment it deserves.

This is not the case here. The game sucked balls.

Yet, the music wasn't that bad and so here it is, another mistake corrected, another cover made....

Another cover, another no-show for it. This has an "extended" downloadable soundtrack on the PS Store and even that's nowhere near a complete representation of the music in the game 'cries for lossless' :'(. Really don't like the newer logo, the prototype one was way better. Funny though, the subtitle on the new one is better than the prototype's. Also, my front reminds me too much of the Tomb Raider reboot. Maybe they thought the 'B' on the prototype looked like a '3' too much. Big QD fan here, although I don't get to play many of their games now.

I would like it to say 'Selected Film Themes' and 'Music Composed by Nathan Furst'

It contains score samplers of the following films, and I would like it if someone could compile an image using covers from each film into one..if that makes sense.

The Curse of King Tut's Tomb (TV Movie 2006)

I'm not sure if I would call them "songs", they seem to be as much the score as the tracks from Volume One. Suites and all. Maybe I have some different soundtrack...

Helix

I was mistaken for sure, by the songs I meant the BB, Incubus stuff, I think I reordered mine so that the songs came later. What horrible artwork, it's like the background's all smudged up for no good reason. Didn't you upgrade to the Anniversary edition version?

Not yet. Truth be told, I've never played any of the Halo games (yeah, I know...), though I'm really in love with the music. And thus far, the original soundtrack was enough. Is the anniversary edition the same, just with different names or is the difference between the two larger than that?

Helix
02-16-2015, 11:33 PM
Nope, it's different. Did you get the first one CEA's score? That one was a rerecorded one mostly(changes were there just not too many, they kept to Marty's script really), this one is actually a little different in some tiny, some not-so-tiny ways. That's not to say it's bad but rather an alternate vision for the same music. Steve Vai (the man behind the awesome guitar stuff) also came back to re-do his stuff from the older one and he really changed it up. As far as the games go, at least play the campaigns once, it's always nice when music has context attached to it. The MCC out now is the best thing for anyone getting into the games. These things were revolutionary when they came out. And the music, well, you know how good that is.

Ordensritter

I see, thank you. You know, I saw some Halo playthroughs out on YouTube a while ago, I generally know what it's about and all, but never played it myself. I will, though. I mean, even I know the series is more or less a legend. As for the music, I have already found that anniversary edition posted here on the forum, I'm getting it as we speak. Even though it's different, it might still be worth giving it a try.

I did four versions, the last one just for fun. Let me know any thoughts! Just a warning - these are super-high res (1600 x 1600). Ironically, both Imgur and HostingPics couldn't cope with the file size, but a site called "TinyPic" had no problem... If you want smaller versions, it's easy to resize them with any image editing program. On the other hand, if you're not bothered by resolution, just right-click the images directly below and "Save As".

I love this movie, and Zimmer's beautiful score.

Wow, tintacle, these are fantastic!! Thanks for sharing. :)

One thing - I've noticed you've just added the '2' to your covers for KFP1. Which images are from which film? I'd want to use a cover with an image from the correct film.

Nice work again! I like the first one best, but #3 is really nice also. :)

...and I had a go at a similar cover for IM2. I'm not very keen on this image of the Mk. VI, as it looks a bit... robotic? Not as 'alive' as it should look. But maybe that's just me. Whatever. Any thoughts?

I think v1 works the best, although the close up of Spidey (v3) also has something.

Is there a specific reason why you used a different font for the upper text?

Yeah, I think so too. I actually really like version 3.

I used a different font because otherwise it's a bit overkill with the ASM font. I always prefer using at least one different font to the logo.

Seeing as I've submitted a fair amount of work here recently, I thought I'd request something for a change. Using the right-hand side of this image (), can somebody do a nice cover for the Frozen stems with the text:

"Original Instrumental Stems From The Motion Picture"

"Songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez"

Maybe this image () would be nice too? Tbh, any image would be nice. :)

It's slightly different than the vinyl cover which is what you're asking for, but I've been using it for years

Honestly, the stems?
Didn't know how to crop the Elsa one without either coming with a tiny image or the icy fence thing. Anyway, I thought this worked better than that one.

My sympathies. Hope you have backups.

Also, 'speckledorfed by some low increase in society' is quite a way to put it.

Also, why all the hate for Frozen? Don't judge a movie based on one made-for-kids song on repeat-for-eternity. You listen to one thing which is meant for a less mature audience for long, you get irritated by it so much you wanna tear your ears off. For instance, Barney's tunes burn me. My soul underneath rages when Dora once again asks me some mundane thing, waits for six billion hours and then breaks into a song that makes you question why the universe hates you so much. As far as Frozen is concerned, not a terrible movie actually a fresh breather after the recent Pixar duds and something new from fairytale Disney. In fact, Disney seems to have recovered from their animation slump well with this and Big Hero 6, etc. now.

Just don't let your kids watch it.

Yeah, the stems. Proper instrumentals that can be sung along to instead of some corny karaoke midi backing tracks. And yes, I do occasionally sing along. Sue me. Or rather, kill me. :-P

As Helix said, it's really not a bad film. Yes, it's cheesy in a couple of places, and has some plot holes. And it's annoying that the world has become SO obsessed with Let It Go. But it's really lovely. And Beck's score is beautiful. I actually like the songs too. :)

Sorry man, that's fucked up.

But I just checked, your Cover Warehouse looks okay to me. Did you already recover everything?

And only to make sure, do you know how this could have happened? What's your FB password like? I mean hacking an user account is no birthday party, isn't it? I'm getting a little anxious here...

I was sick of using normal everyday numbers so I decided to do Spanish. Uno is one and Dos is two, I think.;)

I thought there were proper instrumentals as a part of the soundtrack itself. By instrumental stems I thought you meant like trailer stems, but for the whole movie. Why would I sue you, I'm poor as bricks. Why would I kill you, I don't have any past experience and starting my Great Journey through a scarer is prolly not the best way to do it. Haha!

Haha should have guessed! I thought perhaps the letters were acronyms for something. I'm kinda thick sometimes... ;)

And I'm now officially freaked out.
