Ok well the vinyl is definitely not 35 tracks. If it were to be a proper release, it should be 4 (yes, that's right - FOUR as in 1, 2, 3, 4) LPs, meaning 8 sides. It would be pricey, but done properly. I'll download that one and only listen to the cues off the vinyl, since that's all I need. Thanks for the link.

The vinyl is only 13 tracks, according to the Amazon listing. Look at the back cover.

I meant the soundtracks to ALL the Halo games, that's going to be CEA, 2A ,3, ODST, Reach and 4. That would be more than 4 LPs? I wanted to make a sort of 'Master Chief Collection' (well, in a way) box-set of the soundtracks (like the Bourne one I did awhile back) on vinyl (big album arts, YAY!).

Today.... At the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other.
Today there is not a man nor woman in here that shall stand alone.
Not today.
Today we face the monsters that are at our door and bring the fight to them!
Today, we are CANCELING THE APOCALYPSE!

For a vinyl release that's as rare as monsters. From the deliciously twisted cranium of Guillermo del Toro, scored by one of my favorite composers, is PACIFIC RIM, an overall fun movie.

Thanks for the cover. But wait...it says Complete Motion Picture Score, all that we have is the OST. Can you change that?

KIDDING :awsm:

Honestly, I won't even see that since it kinda blends. All I care about is being able to see Man of Steel and Hans Zimmer. Hell, even the OST cover doesn't say Soundtrack or anything. It just says Man of Steel with Hans Zimmer underneath. As if it's obvious. Like the person who's looking at it should know what it is. And I always liked that about it, so this cover will do just fine being that I won't even see "Complete Motion Picture Score". Thanks ;)

There's a sort of Complete score that Garage made with the Blu-ray ripped stuff. It's like an ordinary music album, I've always thought with the artist below and album title above. The artwork was weird but unique. It does blend unfortunately, I tried some bold weights but they were too imposing on the simplistic balance I was going for, but yeah clarity is not really there. Anyway, standby for OST variant.

I love your record disc label with the ring and the center hole forming an eye. Very cool!

The front cover must have been difficult though, no space for a proper title placement. You managed to solve that problem as best as possible, but it's still not perfect.
Some poster artists just don't keep in mind, that we custom cover creators have to work their images into square ratio. How selfish...

Thanks so much for Pacific Rim! Awesome stuff. Can you have a go at a logo-only one? With whatever background you like.

(Also, at first glance of your MoS covers, apart from thinking they're totally awesome, I thought to myself that there wasn't enough ground at the bottom. If perhaps you could move the whole image up a bit so that there's just that little bit more ground at the bottom... just a thought.)

I knew you'd find that tiny speck ova logo on there. :) This time it just felt like it.

The front cover was hard, yeah. I'm still not sure the rotation matches the background, and the text yeah as you said I had to squeeze this in at the bottom. I had only the top space but I felt a title, especially rotated would have to be too small. Current implementation is by no means perfect but the only thing I could settle down on and not cringe. Totally agree with the last, one of the biggest problems is trying to fit a tiny waist boney poster onto the fat-ass square ratio these things have, the cropping takes the good parts away(if the designers' have utilized the space fully) and leaves us frustrated.

(Also, at first glance of your MoS covers, apart from thinking they're totally awesome, I thought to myself that there wasn't enough ground at the bottom. If perhaps you could move the whole image up a bit so that there's just that little bit more ground at the bottom... just a thought.)

Thank you.

The poster dimensions don't allow for the sky to be visible the way it is now and the ground be too. It's taller than wider and so some parts have to be cropped off, in this case, either the sky or the ground

You're welcome. I'm glad you joined the forum. ;)

Could you perhaps experiment by bring the image up just a little? There's a fair amount of sky at the top, and losing a little to gain some more ground I think would be worth it...

Any ideas re my Cars request?

I just saw this film on Netflix a couple of hours ago (fantastic, please watch it) and immediately after I decided to make covers for the score...it's great, and very intriguing to listen to...here's hoping this gets an underground release (only one cue has been released and it was released by the composer himself on his SoundCloud...:()! [SIZE=1]I still haven't found the right cover for Randy Newman's Cars yet. I absolutely adore this poster:
http://animatedviews.com/wp-content/uploads/archives/CARS[2].JPG
Does anybody know of a version without McQueen and Sally? Just the background as a background for a logo-only cover would be FANTASTIC. I'd really appreciate some help with this request.

That's really a lovely image. I dig the colours! It reminds me on how much heart the first movie had, while the second one was just bad. I mean, it had a goddamn car-torture-scene in it. And there were small kids in the cinema, for fuck's sake!

Ah well...

I'd love create something out of this, even though I'm not a Fan of the score. But my son's loving it and I'm already getting more and more ideas for a CARS cover series, so I guess I'll add it to my ever growing worklist.

But you guys (and girl ^^) are so fast, I just can't compete. My wife's already complaining that I spend too much time in front of the PC. I don't even continue playing Alien: Isolation because -> Photoshop! It's literally open everytime I boot up the machine.

So no dips taken here ;) I may come up with something but please, anybody, take your chance.

The colours are wonderful, aren't they? The first movie did have so much heart, and much though I enjoyed the second movie to a certain extent, it just didn't have the same heart of the original. Superman in the clouds, the fact that Skywalker would not be in city with barns and those spinning windmill type things and most importantly the cape, Skywalker(both of them) don't wear capes, Anakin does but then he's Vader. Also, this is referring to a scene the MoS movie which I won't spoil.

I loved the poster but I wanted to fit it all in and I couldn't. I thought the second movie was neither a worthy sequel nor a good stand-alone movie. It didn't have that standard of story-telling we've come to expect from Pixar. Dude, this would've been so much easier if I could have found the textless, I tried but all of them have either McQueen or Sally in them. Still, maybe heidl or someone else will have some luck with the search.

Yes, I was delayed too.

This is so beautiful! Could you maybe try making the Cars logo (incl. the D/P logo) slightly bigger and just a fraction lower down? Also, the bottom text could be a bit bigger, as it's quite difficult to read as an album in iTunes. (I'm such a perfectionist, it's a curse.)

Just realised I could use more than one cover for an album in iTunes. You can edit the artwork for individual tracks as well as the album as a whole.

Using Iron Man 2 as an example: for the majority of the tracks, and the album as a whole, I've used Kapow's main Iron Man 2 cover (with the Mk. VI). But for tracks like "Birth of Whiplash" and "The Black Widow" I've used his Whiplash and Black Widow covers. As the covers are all a matching set, it still looks fine. But just awesomer. Has anybody else done likewise?

Funny you should say that - that did cross my mind. But I can't honestly think that any other logo would satisfy me, much though I do like the 2D logo in the opening titles. As a perfectionist, having a more 2D logo just wouldn't really work... or maybe it would?! I'd love to see what you could come up with. The flat one from the opening credits? I thought about using that too but somehow the "shiny car emblem" effect they're so obviously going for wasn't there with that. Since that's what I'm presuming was in their minds when the designed it due to the "antennae" and the "V" I stuck with the shiny chrome one. The sky is painted, I think and the rest of it is a render.

Not bad, not bad, helix. Maybe the credits block at the back is a little too low. And I can't help but I feel like the front image is a bit too "high". It feels like there's too much cut off from the engineer's head. I know the source image is like that and there's basically nothing one can do about that, other than using a different image. But I would have moved the image down a bit, even if it's just for a few inches.

I'm currently working on collating all the various Mass Effect soundtracks I have in my library (piecing together a collection from the albums available in Thread 110789) and to go with this i've been designing some custom covers. Let me know if anyone would be interested in having them and if so I can see about getting a RAR file together.

I would like very much to take a peek at your ME-covers!!

Thanks. I fixed OP with your suggestions. The front cover being too cut off is also intentional, I wanted to go for their "huge-ness" effect following the "they are our creators/gods" theme. I would've used another image but nothing else conveyed the atmosphere I was going for. Also, if I had allowed more of the Engineer in I'd have to move the canisters level with or below the movie title which looked even weirder to me, so I left some space at the bottom to put the title and cut off the head above. I did move it a little bit down as a test and see if it looks better.

I've made quite a big mistake during workflow which seems to slap me every time I make any changes in this project, lessons learnt I suppose.

Not to start a huge discussion, but what/who exactly are the engineers? I haven't seen the film (or any of the other films in the Alien/Predator franchises), and I don't really intend to (the whole impregnation/chestburster stuff totally creeps me out), but I'm downright curious about the engineers.

Engineers used to be known as Space Jockeys from their first appearance in Alien. They used to be this super-intelligent probably race of pearly-white skinned bald giants who created mankind by breaking down (using this black liquid, I don't really remember that well) one person of theirs (BTW, this is the opening scene in Prometheus so I suppose spoiler) and I love Alien (not any sequels or prequels) and go watch it. I hate gore and gross disgusting stuff honestly but the first Alien is a perfect atmosphere movie honestly, it's probably my single favorite almost horror movie.
Anyway, once this scentist team aboard the spacecraft 'Prometheus' manages to awaken one of these Engineers, he proceeds to kill them all except Shaw(our younger, newer version of Ripley) and tries to escape but is killed by a hybrid xenomorph(THE alien) allowing Shaw to leave the planet with the remains of David, the younger faster android. I think. I really didnt like Prometheus and I seem to have forgotten it too. Google it if you really don't want to watch it, which is great, just watch Alien. My brother told me recently that he's watched this and not Alien/s/3/R, maybe I'm channeling my rage here instead of in his stupid face.

Thanks for all that! I already read the plot of Prometheus on Wikipeadia, so don't worry. It was rather confusing, but hey. Maybe I have to see it to watch it. It sounds awesome in some respects, a bit grim in others. I am kinda curious to watch Alien. How do the special effects compare to the newer films?! Are they still believable??

Oh okay, BUT NOBODY SHOULD WATCH PROMETHEUS BEFORE ALIEN. The script is the biggest flaw with this movie but it looks good and sounds good and Fassbender has quite a performance. It's got the same problem as Bourne Legacy. It's an okay standalone film, but when you connect it with a franchise (one that's actually pretty good) the audience standards rise(as they should) and then even a good average movie becomes a crap sequel/prequel. Alien stands the test of time but you have to brace yourself for some 80s stuff (like computer interfaces, fashion stuff, etc.) The movie itself and it's narrative is as believable today as much as it was in '79, Scott used mostly practical effects, mostly. If you believe "2001: A Space Odyssey" or "The Right Stuff" then this film should be okay.

Sully, I scare easily, hate tension and gore. That said, watch Alien. Watch it right now. A good movie that set the trend for all the space horror stuff after. I recommend Aliens, the sequel, as well. Alien is pure tension and atmosphere. Slow and deliberate ratcheting of tension. Aliens is a rock and roll action thriller. Plain and simple. SKIP ALL OTHER MOVIES IN THIS FRANCHISE. Caps, cause it's important. All further movies mess with everything the first 2 established in a bad way. 3 made every important human sacrifice in 2 totally meaningless and moot.

Spoilers follow. If they could make a "Hudson-Free Cut" of Aliens and slightly tone the very painfully obvious 'Ripley is trying to be a surrogate mother to Newt' thing down, I would have no problems with it. I get what Cameron tries to do with Hudson being 'the whiny guy' and the Ripley's character development with the whole maternal aspect but its just too in your face obvious that it ruins the movie for me. Also, the 'bigger, badder, faster' way of making sequels works if the narrative core is strong and the technique doesn't come in the way of the story. A3 has an alternate version called the 'Assembly Cut' which is ever so slightly better than the theatrical cut. I want to erase 'Resurrection' from my memory so bad. And to think that the guy who gave us Avengers/Firefly/Buffy had something to do with it.

Amanda

I have the assembly cut of 3 but not watched yet. That movie was shredded through hollywood hell. Amazing it makes what little sense it does. I find the director's cut of Aliens quite paletable and don't mind the character stuff. It is cool to see these bad ass marines, dissing Rip, then see them later, upon realizing....

So awhile ago I made custom covers for the soundtrack to Life In A Day, but they have never quite looked right because it still had the promotional text on the source material. I've always wanted to 're-do' the covers with a textless update on the images used, so I can use it on my itunes (and possibly post on my website--with the textless-maker fully credited, of course.).

Could someone undertake this job and make the LIAD poster textless, or find a textless version of this version of the poster? I'd thank you forever or fulfill a ton of your requests or something.

How often have we chased the dream of progress, only to see that dream perverted? More often than not, haven't the machines we built to improve life shattered the lives of millions? And now we want to turn that dream on ourselves, to fundamentally improve who we are. Experience has shown me how dangerous that can be. How many times, in the call of duty, did I almost fall into the trap of taking shortcuts, abusing my abilities or the resources at hand? I resisted - barely at times - because I valued human lives and considerations. But can I truly despise others who fall? Technology offers us strength, strength enables dominance, and dominance paves the way for abuse. Darrow understood this. He knew that using technology to become something more than we are risks losing our ability to love, aspire, or make moral choices - the very things that make us Human. It also risks giving some men the power to make others what they choose - regardless of the cost to human dignity. The suffering Darrow inflicted is not the end of the world. It is merely the seed for change. And change never comes without pain.

It's in our nature to want to rise above our limits. Think about it. We were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. Every time we met an obstacle, we used creativity and ingenuity to overcome it. The cycle is inevitable... but will the outcome always be good? I guess that will depend on how we approach it. These past few months, I was challenged many times, but more often then not, didn't I try to keep morality in mind, knowing that my actions didn't have to harm others? Time and time again, didn't I resist the urge to abuse power and resources, simply to achieve my goals more swiftly? In the past, we've had to compensate for weakness, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again? What if the path Sarif wants us to take enables us to hold on to higher values with more stability? One thing is obvious. For the first time in history, we have a chance to steal fire from the gods. To turn away from it now - to stop pursuing a future in which technology and biology combine, leading to the promise of a Singularity - would mean to deny the very essence of who we are. No doubt the road to get there will be bumpy, hurting some people on the way. But won't achieving the dream be worth it? We can become the gods we've always been striving to be. We might as well get good at it.

This time I was prototyping a design language for like Criterion Collection has for some 'Limited Edition' releases.

Could someone undertake this job and make the LIAD poster textless, or find a textless version of this version of the poster? I'd thank you forever or fulfill a ton of your requests or something.

Pleeeeeeease?

First, congrats for the retweet. It's great not to get sued, isn't it? ;)
I'm looking forward to the score release with your artwork on it! And please find me a job in the business once you get famous, would ya? Thanks :)

Second, here's my take on a textless poster. I had to replace the girl's eye with a rather low-res version and blurred the sky behind the parachutist to get rid of all those JPG artifacts. It's the best I can do.

I think you have uploaded too many images.
To clean up your gallery, just click Reply to Thread - Go Advanced - Manage Attachments.
And then start deleting stuff you don't need anymore.

Maybe in future posts you want to add images from Url? Imgur is a nice and easy way to upload images and post the link in here. Just make sure to deactivate the checkbox Retrieve remote file and reference locally in the Insert Image window.

Why not upload to an external image host?

Imgur, Photobucket, PostImage, TinyPic, ImageShack.

Flickr isn't really intended to be used an image sharing site.
It's completely troublesome to get the link to use for posting in forums.

Imgur has a copy-button for different uses:
imgur: the simple image sharer (http://imgur.com/)

Image Link (email & IM)
Direct Link (email & IM)
Original GIF Link
Markdown Link (reddit comments)
HTML (website / blogs)
BBCode (message boards & forums)
Linked BBCode (message boards)

The one you want to copy is "BBCode (message boards & forums)" without the "Linked".

There's limits, but not severe like forum limitations (which aren't really meant to be image hosting forums).

James P.Sullivan
01-10-2015, 01:32 AM
I just right click and click "Copy Image URL".

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ

I just right click and click "Copy Image URL".

The problem with that is "hotlinking".

Using an image from a real site, like Billboards, etc, they don't like it when you hotlink.
Some sites put restrictions on how many times an image can be hotlinked (viewed on an external website) before it goes dead for the rest of their billing period.

Hotlinking also allows the original site to know where their images are being viewed.
So, if you hotlink directly from LLL or Intrada, they can backtrack to this site where you posted their legally uploaded image (to which they have the licenced rights to use).
And then slam us with a DMC Takedown notice (probably why this forum gets so many).

Download the image you want, strip it of any internal/meta data (ExifTool works) and re-upload to external Image Hosting site to reduce any such tracking.
:smrt:

Same principle as "not sharing anyone's upload link" to anywhere.
"Not my upload, not my link" crap on this forum leads to takedown links.

Not everyone uses facebook.
Just make an announcement you'll accept PM's for a direct line of communication in the event that the forum goes down.
Not limited to, but including: Facebook, Gmail, email, Skype, other chat crap, etc.

But, I think someone did create a FB "group" (facebook keeps changing, no idea if "groups" still exist).
Minimal activity, unless the site goes down, then every soul feels compelled to say "site is down".

I thought we could register there (wherever that may be) beforehand and only use it in the worst case scenario.
FB would be an option, due to the fact that one can post images and have discussions or likes over there.
But I'm also no social networker, I only use it to promote my stuff and keep in contact with the family.
Are there other options? Twitter?

Here it is, my first ever upload of a Custom Cover. Bear with me, it is one of my first covers (though not the firstor even the second or third).
I chose to upload SONS OF ANARCHY, Season One first:

And then Season 2:

The next one is for the music/songs for the german Tatort (Crimescene) Series with their most famous investigator Schimanski:

And finally the cover to a short-film soundtrack i composed myself, B.O.T.H:

Well like i mentioned before, these are some of my earliest covers, I am quite new at this, so be gentle, but honest, please!

---------- Post added at 03:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------

These are for the soundtrack to an independent movie (and totally amateur, by all particitating), where I was so lucky to play a supporting role and composed the music.

The cover for BOTH looks interesting. Also, now I'm interested to hear some of your work. Where can I listen to it?

The covers for Runaway look a bit trashy to be honest ;) Your effort is clearly visible, but I would at least colour-correct the images to give them a more "movie" look (even if it doesn't look like the film anymore then). It's also important to have a striking image, not every film frame works as album art.

Other than that, welcome to the board! Great to see new faces in here.

Miss Junkie's not referring to the quality directly - she's talking about the transparent .png images (or the images you've used the fuzzy tool on). Particularly the first 'Runaway' cover. There's a funny floating head behind the three main people.

There's a funny floating head behind the three main people.

That is totally on purpose. It is the main characters fosterparents face, who treated her quite bad and is the main reason for her end her 'siblings' to run away.
It was meant to look kinda like a haunting ghost.
I must admit, it looks not like what i wanted, but I could not resist having my face in the cover ;-)

Some new posted stuff of mine. First, The Rover. An at times unlistenable yet amazingly athmospheric collage of sounds and noises. I don't know what to make of this score. And also the highly praised film is a bit out of my comfort zone.

The Book of Eli, which at least musically is more up my alley. The film however was never able to grab my attention. Too much pathos, and the world looks oddly clinical or artificial (too much colour correction!).

My newest entry is dedicated to Nathan Johnson's Looper. One of my favourite recent science fiction films. And And I have never once listened to the score outside of the film.

Finally, an additional cover for Interstellar. This image was just too awesome to skip it. Found it on Behance.

I just uploaded the 3 variations of the theme for BOTH, so you can listen to them without hearing dialogue or soundeffects.

Actually the songs were edited during editing the movie and at a certain point you can hear, that the cut for the music was not very clean: The melody stops midways, just to start anew again.
