Today I'm featuring a set from Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), the fifth film in the MCU:

~original
I found a good pic of Agent Carter that I rendered onto the white background and moved Schmidt to the black in keeping with the villain theme of this series.
Full sizes are up at the blog (

Enjoy!

It IS a flashback... i happened to see the info, even though i have tried NOT to see anything. She is not part of present events.
And on a sidenote :D she will get her own series - "Agent Carter" - that will run during midseason break for Agents of SHIELD

Have you seen the Marvel One-Shot "Agent Carter"? It was an extra on the Iron Man 3 bluray. If not, do so (it's a nice shortfilm about Agent Carter, taking place right after Cap crashes into the ice and it also gives more background info) :) and yes, it will be about the formation of SHIELD together with a certain Howard Stark :D

Excellent Stuff. Because In Winter Soldeier It Shows A Phot Of Her, Howard & The General In The Original S.H.E.I.L.D Base Saying Founders So It Would Be Great!
(Of Course Tommy Lee Jones Wont Be Involved) :(

Another one who deserved special treatment for me was The Thing from Marco Beltrami.
Most of the designs I use are commonly available around here although some of them have been
so heavily edited they're almost rebuild from scratch.
I do not like these albums where you have alternate versions of the same track put together.
Suppose you're watching a movie and suddenly different takes of the same shot reappear 3 or 4 times on
a row : the flow of the story is ruined.
So most of the time I rearrange the tracks and then I have to rebuild the tracklist too.

Thanks, yes I definitely can ;) But could you explain to me, in short, what the difference is ? :D
Of course I can, in 2 images:
Score: Original music written for the motion picture. The score carries the weight of the film and often directs the tone. Scores win Oscars. Exhibit A:
Soundtrack: Various Artist's songs featured in the movie, some of which have nothing to do with the film at all. A lot of times nearly 3/4 of what's on the retail Soundtrack has absolutely zero things in common with the film. Soundtracks win no Oscars. Exhibit B:

Oh, I was only using underlines to make my point. Music from the Motion Picture has always worked for me. However, it depends on which score you're going to apply it to. Sometimes I like Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, Music from the motion Picture, Original Motion Picture Score, it varies.

Ok :D But how about the Spider-Man ones, do they work as 'Soundtrack' ? Since, at least the ones for ASM 2, were meant for the official Deluxe Edition, which includes songs :D
Just want to know which ones I might re-up, to make them correct, and it is correct with Score instead of Soundtrack in most of them :D

Great work on the Alien covers, tintacle! DAKoftheOTA is right; that was an amazing choice to use as a cover. That being said, I'm fine with the cover of the Intrada release, but these are nice to have as an alternative. Funnily enough, although there are quite a few covers made for the second film, there isn't really one that I find 'definitive'; I cycle through Aliens cover pretty frequently.
I was actually thinking that it would be really neat to use those images for covers for the two compilation albums (The Alien Trilogy, 1996; Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony, 2009). Honestly not a fan of the cover for The Alien Trilogy, and A Biomechanical Symphony doesn't even have an official cover (unless you count the DVD box art).

Perhaps not a complete score, but there is an isolated score. And by isolated score i mean a REAL isolated score. The music as a separate audio track on the DVD, choseable from the menus, and NOT a rip of front or rear channels with badly masked speech and sfx. Sorry for the explanation but most people have it the wrong way ;) anyway, if that is the "complete" score or not is debatable since there are many definitions on it depending on who you ask. This is the music as played in the film though, which for me is complete. :)
EDIT: Oh and i have this isolated score in it's raw form. Just not sure if i'm up to do anything with it at the moment for personal reasons...

Isolated scores are the way to go, IMO. Oblivion having an iso score is the best thing that could have happened for me - the complete film mix of the score in it's entirety. So iso scores I consider to be complete - because it's everything in the film. Don't know how anyone else would have a different view on that. A lot (and I mean a lot) of people out there call complete scores "sessions" so maybe that's where the confusion comes from.
When you say you have the iso score in it's raw form, do you mean as one giant track, or everything is split how it should be? I ask because you say you're "not up to doing anything with it". I'd love to get it, if you're able to upload it.

The one problem I have with iso scores is the volume fluctuations and the fact that sometimes the cues have been edited (cut and spliced) from their original format for the film mix. Actually that was two reasons... But apart from that, they are fantastic. :)

When you say you have the iso score in it's raw form, do you mean as one giant track, or everything is split how it should be? I ask because you say you're "not up to doing anything with it". I'd love to get it, if you're able to upload it.
Actually two large chunks of AC3 (since the film was released on a double disc DVD due to its length) and they are of course the same length as the film itself ;) the first 2 hours and the second 1 hour 20 minutes. So it's two big files with the music and lots of silence in between when the music is not playing in the film. Would mean a couple of evenings worth of job for me. Unless someone else wants to step in...
EDIT: Not saying i will not do it, but i can't give any guarantees on when i will
The one problem I have with iso scores is the volume fluctuations and the fact that sometimes the cues have been edited (cut and spliced) from their original format for the film mix
1. Not all isolated score have volume fluctuations
2. It is the music as heard in the film. Some like it, some don't ;) not saying either is wrong

I'm not talking about huge, really noticeable cuts, but in films like a bug's life iso score you can clearly hear when, presumably for precise timing reasons, milliseconds have been chopped out. But it's not a big deal. :)

I haven't seen the film yet and don't know the score, But I'd be willing to do it as long as there's a tracklist I can use as a guideline. I'm up to it
Calidoran

I don't know of a tracklist besides the official 45 track release. I don't even know how many "tracks" there would be on these ac3-files. But it would mean taking the 5.1 ac3s, converting them to an editable format (wav? that's what i use), and since i assume you want it to be stereo you'll have to downconvert from 5.1 to stereo, then load a 2 hour wav-file into your editor and start splitting and editing and when you're done with that one, there's the next one with 1 hour and 20 minutes that needs the same tender care ;) so if you really feel up to it... send me a PM and i'll get back to you

And I don't know why labels don't release the complete scores of their films, because at the end the tracks end up stored in a DVD in a box in a shelf in a warehouse taking DUST, never used again.
The Fast and the Furious, Inception, The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier for example...

Ralph Bakshi directed, using the rotoscope technique giving it a rather unique look... not bad filmwise, the only problem is that it ends after Battle of Helm's Deep. I guess they planned for another film, but that never happened

I didn't even know this version existed!!! Was it made by the same people that did the animated version of The Hobbit?
No, The Hobbit was made by Rankin Bass. This was made by Ralph Bakshi. It is wonderful in many aspects, but hysterically awful in others. It has a cult following, but is also hated by many. I'm one of those people who agrees that it's terrible but loves it at the same time... if that makes any sense! The score is equally Marmite-esque. I love it, others hate it. It fits the film perfectly, but doesn't really counjour up a fantasy world. The main theme (particularly in the final cue) could just as easily fit a dated WWII film. 75% of the score is pretty avant-garde and chaotic, but the overall listening experience is pretty good. But only if you liked the film. :)
Peter Jackson took many parallels from this film for his trilogy.
This was supposed to be Part 1 of a two-part film adaptation, but someone somewhere pulled out after the first film was made, stopping the production of Part 2. Bakshi wanted this film to be released under the title "LotR Part 1" but there was a dispute and it ended up being released as just "The Lord of the Rings", which didnt exactly help the public's opinion of it when they realised that it was unfinished, and had been labelled in a misleading way.
The rights for the rest of the story were subsequently given back to Rankin Bass who then made a film of RotK in the same animated style as The Hobbit, carrying on pretty much where Bakshi's LotR had left off. However, he made no effort to be consistent in any way to Baksi's characters, and just used his own characters, as in The Hobbit, which are, IMO, far too childlike and immature. In contrast, Baksi's work is pretty serious and intense, and the first encounter with the ringwraith always creeps me out! It's utterly terrifying!! :D
So there you go. Look it up, watch it, and see for yourself!

Funnily enough, although there are quite a few covers made for the second film, there isn't really one that I find 'definitive'; I cycle through Aliens cover pretty frequently.
I might have something in store for you in the near future... ;)
Beside that, I've been making a few Gone Girl covers; since the film is going to be released in two weeks, yet surprisingly no announcement of a score album or anything like that has been made.
The following image is what I imagine the official release to be looking like. Maximum minimalism :) I came up with 5 different album credits treatments, but opted for the least flashy one. Just like its predecessors, this Reznor/Ross score ought to be looking like a regular music album rather than a movie soundtrack.
I've also made some custom covers, first a fictious five track sampler following the one from The Social Network. I decided to go with the colour scheme from Gillian Flynn's book cover.
And also two customs based on the so far released movie posters:
Anyone else excited for this score?

True, that feeling did enter :) and i have to say that he is pretty much spot on when it comes to the criticism. Too bad that the positive stuff gets kinda lost. Even if the film is sometimes cheesy, sometimes bad and sometimes just painfully awful, it HAS a certain charm. But as he says, it does help if you know the background story (as most do). I was actually surprised at how many things Bakshi chose to leave out of the plot...

Haha, it's very good - and makes a lot of genuinely legitimate criticism. But it's just so funny the way he puts some things. :) And I totally agree - as I said earlier, I absolutely love the film, and it does have a very great charm about it. Which is why I'm so sad they never actually did Part 2.

Calidoran - would you be up for doing a take on my request for an alternate OST cover for Rosenman's LOTR? I think you'll agree with me that whilst the image they've used is good, it doesn't sum up the film very well (although, thinking about it, maybe it does?!). I'd be really interested in what you can come up with. Feel free to do anything, but I'd personally prefer not using the official poster, as Gandalf really isn't 500ft tall. Maybe have a go with something like this:

Thanks so much, NewtonHoward!! They're fantastic! :D
For some reason the Chipmunk cover looks a little bottom-heavy... maybe making the "music by Christopher Lennertz" text/image a bit smaller would help. Could you try that?
And thanks for LotR - it now matches my DVD! :D

ANYONE willing to work on an alt cover for Intrada's Gorky Park???
Well, look what I managed to come up with. :) It actually has a white border, but you can't see it here against the white page.
(Really sorry about the low res, but hopefully it will do for the time being until someone more experienced than me can have a go for you.)

Here's a cover from 2010's The Incredible Hulk to match the current series I'm working on:
Sadly, I have no alternate or villain covers for this one as hi-res images are virtually non-existent.
If you'd like the full size of this one, it's up at the blog (

Where did you have these made, and how did you get them past any copyright shutdowns?
I made these myself, using pictures and artwork from the net, which were printed on high quality posters (just like you have your photographs printed by a printing company);
then I cut, folded and glued them together with hard cardboard in between. The discs are high glossy printable cdr's (or aluminum foil prints with the Prometheus discs).
It took me quite some time to assemble these things but the result is rather nice.

Full size is at the blog (

Sadly, this also brings this series to an end (for now) as I have exhausted my supply of hi-res pictures. I've scoured the Internet for more, but this is all I was able to come up with. At this point, it's about half of a full set, as you can see from this index:
All the full sizes are at the blog, and if I come across other suitable images I will update accordingly.
Thanks for all of the positive feedback on this series!

I have just one request (or, make that two):
All those posting covers - They are great :) BUT please, don't use the fullsize images when you post. Learn how to use thumbnails and link to the fullsized ones instead.
All those quoting a post with images - ALL feedback is great :) but learn how to edit your post and remove any images. These have already been seen and you feedback will get through anyway
To end this with something positive - All of you posting covers here, keep up the good work! Some of these are truly amazing :D

I can totally namedrop right now but I'm not going to do that. I totally agree with you. When you're on a mobile device, the page keeps on loading....and loading....and loading. It takes forever, it's obnoxious.

It's a shame better covers can't be used on there. I don't mean to insult whomever made it, but the TRON: Legacy cover is not great. I mean it's a nice image, but for the complete score? A better one could have been used.

No sarcasm marks on the internet means I'm not sure if you're serious or not...or maybe you are serious and can't tell us! Such strangeness (if it was a dream) or such suckiness (if you're serious)!
Those Aliens covers are amazing, in a slightly unrelated topic. Will you upload them to your site?

Even though dreams can come true sometimes, I sure hope this one won't ;-)
It was indeed a dream, or one could also say nightmare, but I found it too hilarious to call it that.
Trent even uploaded a profile pic showing his angry face... it was really crazy lol
Concerning your question. Yes I will, in fact I wanted to publish them a long time ago, but got stuck on a remake of the 'Alien' digital booklet. That thing delays the whole series.

Except Aliens. I never liked the art for the original cd.

I liked the scene in the movie, so I had to make a cover :)
Maybe there will be a SonicAdventure Deluxe Editon someday, although he already made the beautiful Remastered version...

I guess it's a good thing you liked it, I thought it sucked. TASM2 was way better IMO. It didn't have horrible CGI (Lizard? That was a joke) and Jamie Foxx was awesome as Electro.

Didn't someone asked for alternate TMNT covers. Here are some.
I used some promo posters for the covers.
The grafitti style posters are cool, so I used them to create comic panel style cover.
The Hands were nice too. It represented each weapons of the characters.
Have fun with it ;)

I really like the Amazing Spider-Man too, unfortunately the sequel is just not really good. Sure, the Special effects are top-notch and (most of) the cast is great but that's not enough to make a good movie! It's, by far, the most disappointing movie of the year for me!

That's interesting. You're the first person I've heard say that TASM2 was better than TASM. Every other review I've read has said that TASM2 was nowhere near as good as the first. And Lizard wasn't that bad... I really liked the emotional aspect of the film, too. It was much more emotional than I expected, and there was some stunning acting.

I've been wanting a different cover for this for a while now, and have finally got round to requesting it here.
Garfield: The Movie (2004) - Original Motion Picture Score - Music by Christophe Beck
The official cover for the score album was pretty rubbish, so if someone could do an alternate one (preferably not using the official poster artwork, but instead screencaps from the film) I'd be immensely grateful! :)

Could you maybe experiment with the top and bottom text being a little smaller, and maybe the bottom text all on one line? If you could find a similar text to the logo for the words "Christophe Beck" that would be awesome... and is the logo a little squashed?

I liked the movie, but I would never consider it better than the first. Not even a little bit. It was more colorful and exciting than the first, but that doesn't make it better to me.

They are very different films. First film is more grounded, second film is more larger than life comic book. I take that view based on their overall inspirations:
First film has a very "Batman Begins" vibe to it, being another origin story and they kept the film restrained and approachable.
Second film has a very big, colorful "Marvel Cinematic Universe" feel, just not pulled off nearly as well as MCU does it.
Well TASM2 had better acting and more emotion. Brace yourself!
I may like the cheesy fun vocals of the Electro but to say Jamie Foxx and the rest of the cast had better acting and emotion...did we all watch the same movie? Cheesy and fun. That's Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Also:
Dane DeHaan. For him alone I say:

I've been listening to Horner's score nonstop since I saw it on Friday! It is simply... well, amazing. :) When I first heard that Horner had been signed up to score the film, I thought "Huh. That's an odd choice of composer for a superhero film." But I can totally see why now!
I'm still very much looking forward to watching the sequel, even though I know everything that happens in it, thanks to the internet. :/
Anything with more Garfield and Stone has to be worth watching. By far the best chemistry I've seen on screen for a long time. ;)
How would you measure Zimmer's score against Horner's?

There are a lot of conflicting stories going on about Horner's involvement with the first film. No idea whatsoever about if he was asked or wasn't interested or whatever the case was for the second, because the stories about the second contradict the stories for the first...it's all convoluted and in the end doesn't change anything or matter much anyway. We have what we have, that's all that matters now.
Despite the much more overt, in-your-face over-the-top approach to Electro which is a force of musical nature whenever he appears, I would say both scores are cut from a very similar musical cloth, so much so that one has to wonder why Zimmer and the "Magnificent Six" were even hired when the score sounds a lot like Horner's score - they use the same elements. The quiet, reflective piano, the brass-led fanfares, the acoustic and electric guitars (minimized in Horner's score, but still there) and of course the electronic rhythms and percussion.
Zimmer's "Spider-Man" theme is fair enough, but I much prefer Horner's theme by a wide mile. I even play them back to back in my head (changing the key a bit) and if you adjust the tempo of one or the other, they would actually fit together nicely.
It is really the one true criticism I have about the sequel: They should've just kept Horner's theme for musical continuity rather than have Zimmer devise what is essentially a kind of alternate take of it. If they did that but kept the rest of it as we know it, it would've been all around just fine...for me anyway.

I'd love to give TASM2 a listen... can you recommend a particular track that has the main theme in it, like the Main Titles for TASM?
Who exactly are The Magnificent Six, and did they actually co-compose the score with Zimmer? Also, what's Pharrell Williams' involvement in it all?!

I have no idea who or what they are, I guess it's just a riff on Spider-Man's "Sinister Six" villains which are apparently getting their own movie.
Pharrell from what I understand (I'm no Zimmer expert) did the lyrics for Electro's theme, and made a few songs as well.
You'll find the the Spider-Man theme in its biggest form in:
Disc 1:
3. "I'm Spider-Man"
9. So Much Anger
20. "You're That Spider Guy"
Disc 2:
3. Cold War
I have to listen to it again and try to pay more attention for other big examples of it, since it's a continuous presentation as are most Zimmer albums.

Dane DeHaan is the name of the actor who played Harry Osborne. The Goblin.
His performance and emotion was more deserving of a Picard Facepalm than anything resembling praise.
That's how serious this conversation is....as in it is not serious at all. I was agreeing with you.
If you thought an actor's name was some kind of insult toward you...I mean really? I said it in a few posts above meaning he alone ends any debate over how good or in his case, BAD, the acting in this film can be.

Next entry because it's the time for Halloween :D
Didn't include the Composer seems redundant to me...
Have fun with it!
Btw: Does anyone know a site with hi res pictures of the mondo posters maybe some from Jock?

The best I've found over the years is wrongsideoftheart.com besides hi-res posters they sometimes have lobby cards and stills.

Nice! If you could also do the ''The Thing'' poster (the red one), that would be great!

I would love to do it, but the image is really bad (the one I found)
Did you find a hi res version of it?

Here is alternate art I made for the recent Tadlow release of Mister Moses. I through it together pretty quick using the original poster from the movie.

shaqfu36, I hope you don't mind but I copied your design to see if I could get a bit higher resolution:

This film looks and sounds downright too creepy for me. Who thinks these film/book ideas up?!

This movie is great you should definitely give it a watch! (John Carpenter's 1982 movie not the 2011 prequel!)

Here's a cover the score from The Scribbler. I used the Title from the graphic novel. The movie font was kinda lame.
Have fun!

Three simplistic customs for John Paesano's The Maze Runner
Haven't heard the score, not interested in the film, but I really fell for those graphic designs. Pure understatement, I really dig this style. It speaks to me much more than the obvious CGI money-shots they normally use.

Please do anything with 1492: conquest of paradise from Vangelis... because there is such good music. its only one descent for cd single but very boring one for cover album.
