I will most definitely... as soon as I've refilled my artistic mojo that's been drained during the making of The Hobbit trilogy (80 custom covers).
I'm really relieved to finally close the book on this one.
It's been a lot of work and quite some nights of no-fucking-sleep-at-all. But I love them all.
And for this occasion I've also updated and expanded my AUJ and TDOS cover series as well.

liligrisen, I've been looking at your work over the last couple of pages and if you'd permit me I've got a tiny bit of advice(not that I should be doling out such things, given I'm learning myself, but I feel weirdly grand today) for you (and others too, I hope).
Experiment with more fonts. Sometimes firms use a set of two standard fonts on their material, one for text and one for the logo, other times they use just one (like using Gotham for the Batman films for everything), try to avoid commonplace fonts like Courier and Helvetica, they are not bad, it's just sometimes they fit , sometimes they don't and despite it's popularity, they are not universal. With fonts, try to choose those that somehow relate to the original ones used(if you can't find them/are too expensive/are custom typefaces).
Try to look at posters, one-sheets and other marketing material to get a sense of what the marketing team objectives were and try to understand their approach, this can mean a way of looking at seemingly unoriginal things in a way to spur up interest, like Godzilla, for example, giant sea monster rises and tears shit up, not terribly original is it? But look at them posters and you're blown away, actually excited to see it.
But, despite all this, sometimes and this happens more often then not, their approach works for other stuff but not the music, which is a fully realized piece of art in and of itself independent of the movie or you just don't like their way of looking at things (this is why most people make these custom-y thingies), in a case like, try to polish your approach and try to justify every choice you make from the key art you use to the theme(what you're trying to convey to the fonts you use(playful, sad, broken, etc.). It's like everything makes sense in your head initially but then so do flying pigs until you stop and think about it. It's fascinating, and this is why at least for me this thread is amazing, to see other people's approach to what I thought was the "normal" way of looking at a character or a movie. I should stop now before I grow a beard and start a bridge club.
But most of all and I don't people say this often enough, Google Is Your Friend. Honestly, with enough persistence and search techniques and the passion and vigor to go beyond the green pastures and onto the second page of results, it' s all you need, to find things that sometimes surprise you.

Yeah, no the most I've ever done is make covers for things whose official ones aren't good enough or for things I'd like to see come to life. What I love about vinyl has nothing to do with the sound (in the famed "90's kids" group, myself) but with the gorgeous giant packaging which sadly we don't have anymore. Even CD purchases are rare if ever with streaming services and digital downloads on the rise. But even on them covers are tiny in comparison.
Actually, now that I think about it, the front cover can be used for the standard release, there's no mention of the nature of the release except that it's limited and let's be honest here, who doesn't want to feel like having a limited release?

I was mesmerized by the campaign with every new outing, in fact, by comparison the movie was a bit of a let down. I haven't felt like that by a campaign until Nightcrawler.

I never told what would (theoretically, of course) be in this version of the soundtrack. Well, this will be a 28-track compilation mostly from the Score, the EP and the Single forming an hour and 42 minutes of almost complete music from the film. Also, Battle Cry would crossfade after Leave This Planet Alone followed by the Decision Suite.

With these, I really wanted to do something different. There have been a million and one different covers for this score. I love this idea, but you're right, the explosion is a little distracting. Also, isn't that the image from the trailer? The scene in the actual film is different - In the film, Spidey is swinging the manhole cover from two strands of webbing, not actually holding it in his hand:
I'd love to see any more Amazing Spidey covers you can come up with! I'm planning on having a go myself at one or two sometime soon.

Don't expect too much from The First Avenger. In my mind, a mediocre film. Avengers and Iron Man 3 are a lot of fun though. I feel like Captain America 2 is the best of the bunch.

That's always a good idea. I'm currently taking that course of action with IM3. I've heard SO many differing reviews (awesome, crap, etc) that I'm preparing for the worst. That way, if it's actually quite good, I'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

Apparently I'm smoking something without knowing it because I feel like Captain America 2 is a far superior film to the Avengers. (awaits verbal onslaught?)
To me, the Avengers is held in such high esteem because fans like to see all the Avengers together. When you look at the plot of the film, the story-line etc, it's actually kinda boring.
"A bunch of disagreeing heroes must be brought together to face a whining want-a-be villain and his alien army as they attack NYC."
The film is far from boring, but as far as quality of film, it's just NOT that great. Cap 2 has a plot that keeps you intrigued and interested throughout. And the Winter Soldier is a much more interesting villain. (covers head and flees).

I can enjoy a bad movie, as long as it KNOWS it's a bad movie and has fun with itself. A great example of this is "The Mummy". On the flip side, a film that tries to be good and isn't just annoys me. I think the first time I truly HATED a film was Prince Caspian. Being a fan of the books, and then having the film not only disregard the book, but on top of that be an absolutely, horrifically wretched film was too much. Since then I usually only bother watching movies that I'm almost certain I'll like. So no TF4 for me haha. But that' fine. I'll just go watch "Bringing Up Baby" again. :)

All this Marvel talk, I feel like someone has to represent GOTG. Best one for me yet. IM3 was bad, gaping plot holes everywhere, too much comedy and not even the funny kind. The suit breaking down every time he tries putting it on and don't get me started on the end. If he could take the goddamn shrapnel out with a tiny operation why bother with the suit in the first place and now, they are going to spin up some tale about having the choice to be a hero or not for Stark which is interesting but it could have come late. I do agree with DAK, Jon would've done a better job (check out Chef by the way) but IM2 kind of ruined his reputation methinks.
Cap 2 was good. Like really good, what IM3 should've been. I personally thought The First Avenger was the weakest in Phase 1 (loved Thor) so my expectations were low going in. Avengers was good because of the dialogue and the way the characters bounce stuff off each other, but yes the story, like in most Marvel films, was weak. X men DOFP was great, proving they never should have let Singer leave. The story was really tough to make a film out of but they did it so it became more coherent and sleek, really. First Class and DOFP sort of almost make up for the abomination known as X3.

Actually, Singer had a contract with Fox to make 3 X-Men films. He broke it and made Superman Returns (which gets so much hate, but I liked it), and because of that, we got the abomination that is The Last Stand. Brett Ratner should just stick to Rush Hour. Thank God he returned with DoFP, though. The best one yet.

Personally, I don't count Incredible Hulk and IM in Phase 1, they're like Pre-Phase 1 or something. IM2, Thor, Cap and Avengers are Phase 1 for me. Incredible Hulk was problematic in the sense that some scenes felt from a completely different movie/writer and some had a totally different feel as opposed to the rest of the film. It was still better the Ang Lee's weird thing from '03. Also, Jen Connelly over Liv Tyler anyday.
Origins was pathetic, I mean the moment I saw will.I.am, I knew. The only, and I'm being generous here, thing good about it was the brief scenes with Ryan Reynolds as the archer dude. He is destined to be Deadpool (not the weird bandaged freak from that one though).

Marvel is pretty much kicking DC's ass when it comes to movies. DC is trying to catch up but by the time they catch up to where Marvel is now, Marvel's going to have six more properties in play. DC shifting focus to TV as the next frontier is a good decision but alas, here too they must encounter their old foe once more.

I must have smoked the same thing, and I don't smoke. I've seen The Avengers twice - two years apart between viewings - and I still don't care for it much. I saw Winter Soldier once a few months ago (I did a full MCU marathon) and loved it, it was fantastic. If the rumors are true and the Russo Brothers do indeed take over "Infinity War", it's in good hands and won't be a step down from Whedon.
EDIT: And yes, I am a Whedon fan. "ANGEL" was and still is my all-time favorite television series...though ironically he had the least involvement with that compared to Buffy, FIREFLY and that Dollhouse show...Love FIREFLY as well, Buffy I have this love-dislike thing for, and Dollhouse....dog shit. Hated that show.

I'd love to hear some feedback from the masters here (NewtonHoward, Heidl, SoundtrackJunkie, Jayasaurus, Jason, etc) - what do you all think? Any suggestions? I wanted to do the text in the same metal look as the logo, but I have no idea how!
Well for me I use GIMP but anyways I just take the text and make it a grey color and then I select the letters 'by color' so the letters are selected and I fill it with a 'brushed metal' or 'aluminum' gradient via the 'multiply' or 'addition' choices in the paint bucket tool. Usually the filling of the gradient will take about 5 or 6 tries until I get it looking just right.
Then to make it shiny (if I need to), I have a script-fu that lets me do that.

Woah, I must haved missed that :)
Version 2 it is for me. This background is a little tricky with brightness levels all over the place. I think I wouldn't make all the text in that metallic look, you may end up with too little contrast. However if you do prefer a metallic effect, it would be the most easiest with Adobe Photoshop and some metal layer styles, for example these:

Thanks. I'd love to show it to you. IF I had made one.
But, basically think like the same white on ship template continuing from the front over to the back with little record label branding and billing block in the corner, nothing else. Tracklist is on vinyl label and full in the gatefold. I was looking for a good temp to make the gatefold but couldn't find one that did the job.

Errr......not-so-much-master-as-idiot-who-loves-doling-out-opinions here. Sully, you've spoilt me for choice. Version 1 is good for me. Reference the logo treatment in this poster (

). Metal text has it's uses but I wouldn't try it here, plain coloured text in white, red or as you've done, dark grey will work better. Plus at the size of the secondary text(OST, etc.), effect becomes harder to see and in some cases, even makes the text itself harder to read. As to how to do it, heidl's link is good, never used GIMP but soundtrackjunkie knows what she's doing so I'd trust her advice and a little Google always helps, that's how I learned. I want to say firstly, this is my favorite thread on this forum. I look at it everyday and I am always impressed with the craftsmanship of so many of you. What a great community.
I used to love designing my own movie posters, and soundtrack artwork and even started attending university to study graphic design many years ago. Unfortunately I dropped out and stopped dabbling in doing my own work. I want to thank you all for re-inspiring me.
Today, I took some time to work up my own cover for Interstellar (my favorite score this year). So many of the ones posted here are great, but I wanted to put my own spin on it with what I found to be an incredibly iconic still from the film. Version one was a very rough template, using archaic design software that is much better suited for digital sketching and painting. I shared my creation with a friend and he perfected it with Adobe Photoshop and I am incredibly grateful for his work in getting this one just right. Enjoy!

I agree, it's a bit crowded. The poster you linked is great - although it's different to the one I used, as Spidey is lower down along the side of the tower, so there's less tower along the edge. Also, the colours are a lot brighter. I really prefer it!

Extreme ways are back again
Extreme places I didn't know.
The three (Legacy is a Bourne movie only in name) legit Bourne movies have become one of my most favorite film trilogies. Like the movies, the score was unique and instantly recognizable, at least for me, and stuck with you so that it stayed with you tumbling around in your head casually called the Bourne sound. SonicAdventure has been gracious enough to work on a "Deluxe Edition" for Supremacy (
Thread 166841) and Ultimatum (forums.ffshrine.org/f92/john-powell-bourne-ultimatum-deluxe-ed-flac-167201). The box-set below was inspired by those.
I broke everything new again
Everything that I'd owned
Presenting once more, a new box-set you can't buy from the company whose music you can't post, this is The Bourne Trilogy Soundtrack box-set.

Front and back of the package
I threw it out the window, came along
Extreme ways I know will part
The colors of my sea
Some perfect colored sea
Inside, you will find three two-disc packages for every movie. I wanted to do the whole thing back, inlay ,disc, etc. but my computer had too much ice cream and we all know what happens when you have too much ice cream.

No offence to Optimus but I feel like the he remains pretty much the same, does the same things, loyalties that don't waver all that much, etc. But the villains, they change and everyone is unique and if I may be so bold, slightly more interesting than mr. I did see it. In all of it's IMAX glory. Every new installment feels like the one before it was wiped from everyone's minds and now we're here and every single character is open to reinterpretation. The new Optimus seems much different than the one we saw in the 2007 movie, I mean what happened? did his balls dro-no wrong movie. But if some life opinion altering event did happen why didn't we get to see that and the resulting, I do beg pardon, transformation. why do we only get to see optimus at the end of that journey, now that he's into vicious killing(I miss Lockdown).

Now why would you do that? CinemaSins explode all over the place every time a new TF movie comes out. No one, at least I hope, sees these films for their gut-wrenching dialogue or crystal clear diamond hard structure. Basically, if you want to see giant robot-like things beat each other to death, then it really doesn't get any better than this (well, after the pretty good Pacific Rim recently) and also, hot chicks in distress and oh, EXXXXPLLOOOOOOOSIONS! Like JJ uses flares Bay uses explosions. A big ole' testosterone booster in other words. Musically, some people like Steve's work some don't. For me the first movie's score was the best.
I used to see the TV shows when I was young...erm...-er and so I had some idea who these weirdo things were. I saw the first one which was I have to admit the best one yet(and the way Bay's going, ever) the first Autobot group transformation scene with Optimus was mind-blowing, sorta like Avatar was for 3D, this was for CGI for me. But the sequels basically destroyed everything the first had built up. I do believe Michael Bay is a talented director (stop laughing I'm serious), he's got some skills to pull something like this off, few but they're there. Also, I think now he needs to hand it over to someone else. Maybe the FATF people. AoE is better than the DOTM and ROTF but it still has those stupid "Bayisms". The TF concept isn't that bad and the first movie was a great demonstration of just that. But despite everything, I still go back to it and give him just one last chance at redeeming the series and maybe himself even though he'll probably stick some C4 in my ass and blow that up too.

Ok, ok, I get it. They do sound like fun for all those reasons. I've seen Pacific Rim, and it too has a pretty crappy script and a couple of plot holes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it for the spectacle of giant robots fighting giant monsters. The effects were second-to-none. But yet not a single OSCAR nomination, not even for Best Visual Effects. That I'll never understand. And the CinemaSins and Honest Trailer were hysterical. "Awesome Dumb Robot Movie" "The most awesome dumb movie ever made" or "The dumbest awesome movie ever made". But I love it. And as John Bailey says, "Let's be honest, that movie was totally dumb... but I still cannot wait for the sequel!"

Now why would you do that? CinemaSins explode all over the place every time a new TF movie comes out. No one, at least I hope, sees these films for their gut-wrenching dialogue or crystal clear diamond hard structure. Perfecto. I don't see Transformers for it's Oscar-calibur acting and screenplay, I see it because it was my childhood. Transformers and Legos. And I love the action. I also love Michael Bay, no matter how many people love shitting on him. I don't care. I love his movies (and those Victoria's Secret commercials too, mmmm....) and I love what he's done with TF. Sure, I have like 2 or 3 minor gripes here and there, but he didn't "ruin my childhood" like so many fanboys claim. Optimus should never have been a Peterbilt, he should have been a Cab over (what we see in the beginning of AoE - that's his original form). He shouldn't have had flames. But I loved that about him. I too, love Steve's scores for all of them, but my favorite is also the first one - both film and score. It will always be my favorite now matter how many TF films there ends up being. It was my childhood brought to life and I'll never forget going opening night and just being in awe the entire 2 & 1/2 hours
BTW I have no interest in Pacific Rim becuase it looks like a TF knock-off that takes place in the ocean. No thanks.

You've not seen Pacific Rim yet? It's in no way a TF knock-off. Amanda can vouch for that. It's giant robots piloted by humans, not alive themselves fighting giant alien monsters that emerge from beneath the Pacific Ocean. It's really very good, for the same reasons Geforce (I mean, Helix) mentioned about TF. I'd recommend it, even just for Djawadi's score.

I know you will ignore me, BUT, Pacific Rim owes a ton of visual to many anime concepts, right down to cute Asian girls with weird hair color who also kicks ass. The concept of melding (drift) is unique and works in the movie. Seeing the internal mechanics of driving these things is interesting. Seeing one drag an oil tanker into the middle of town and start bashing the hell outta a monster is awesome. Checking for a pulse...FINALLY, good guys who are not totally stupid and learn from previous mistakes. And in the end, Giant robots and monsters just pounding the shit outta each other with a passable motive loosely strung in. And awesome score. Do it. **do it now**

Haha, you should write a movie review! That was great! And yes, it's obviously based largely on anime/manga stuff (watch the beginning of the honest trailer...) Totally awesome stuff. I also loved the bit when the flying Kaiju took Gipsy up to the edge of space. Although you would have thought they'd have remembered the sword a bit earlier... And wouldn't the sword have been useful against the Knifehead at the beginning of the film, instead of the painfully slow plasma cannon?

Why, thank you very much Jason! This is beautiful! I hadn't thought to use the prologue artwork, but it works very nicely. I'd still be interested to see a version using a screenshot from the rest of the film, but this will certainly suffice for as long as it takes to experiment with anything else. I like it more and more as I look at it. :)

Here's my take. I tried to spin up a slightly different version because I wasn't comfortable with the source image itself.
THEATRICAL CUT (based off of the source itself)
DIRECTOR'S CUT (my preferred version, with 0.03 seconds of never-before-seen bonus footage)
I have to post another one (Watership Down) but it'll merge with this one so help?

Thanks Geforce! Damn it, I mean Helix. It'll take me ages to get used to your name change. Where did you find such unique artwork? Both yours and Jason's covers are much better than a choking Bigwig. I mean, I know it's a rather depressing film in some ways, and it certainly deserves it's rating of 12 by the Irish film association, but having a choking rabbit on the cover of the OST is a bit much.
You're welcome. Actually, I'm loving this the more I look at it. I found it on the trusty Googs, maybe it's some book artwork. I liked it more than anything I saw and as Jason said, there ain't any good hi-res source material to use from this.
Maybe someone could use one of these screenshots?! :awsm:
Warning: Disturbing gory images in spoiler
If you haven't seen the film yet, don't let these put you off - it really is a beautiful film. I absolutely love it. But then, I loved the book, so maybe read that first.
DUDE!!! WTF! I was eating. This is more gore than I'm comfortable with and weirdly in animation it looks even more disgusting. I thought about using stills from the film itself, I had this one with the whole rabbit team on this hill but it was really horrible quality. These aren't too hi-res either. Remember, source images have to be as big as possible or at least bigger than 1000px for decent results or else you'd have to stretch these things and it destroys the images. But then again, I've seen some maestros do some magic with tiny stills from ancient films so goes to show what I know. I haven't seen the movie or read the book (didn't even know about it until your req and IMO the original cover isn't that bad especially considering the movie itself), I've got a huge watchlist already. Also, now you've scarred me so there's that. I can never see pixels the same way again.
