Looking for:

Ruby Sparks - Nick Urata
The Odd Life of Timothy Green - Geoff Zanelli

Remember the old days when this forum used to have new releases?

Fine. I bought them myself.

The forum definitely does not suck. Anything that is worth having almost always leaks here first, sometimes far in advance of the release date. This is the best place to find unreleased and promo stuff. MOST new items do show eventually. Bear in mind that the film Hunt thread was set up ORIGINALLY to hunt down hard to find or oop items, not new items. Just because no one happened to have the particular items you wanted does not mean we suck. Silly Clucker.....

This Forum Sucks

It is actually people like you that drag the rest of society down.
Demanding this and expecting that.

Over what?
Give me one good God damned reason why you are worth all the trouble you type out?

Give me one reason why anyone here should be worth the trouble?

Because one has the manners?
Because is not a bigger douche as the next?

What is the ultimate reason?
Think about this.
This forum is no different than the next.

Except for your presence, cluckyou.
Except for you, alone.

So, really, this forum is exactly like all others, filled with good people, nice people, and also full of spite filled dicks. Now, I am not calling you any of those, I am just saying that all the negative here is no different than elsewhere. But, despite thaat, I have found no home quite like this forum. I have found nicer, more polite places, but less traffic, less unreleased stuff. So, this place continues to spark and be unique, at least for me. However, the sharing atmosphere being what it is, patience is needed for stuff. Hosters are slower, people are having less to spend, it all combines, ya know? If a request does not get filled, it almost always means no one has it yet. Your implication was one that yuou came in, requested your irems, and expected someone to go out and buy it for you, and that is not how this has ever worked.

No. It hasn't leaked yet and it might not leak for a while. If you want more discussion on it, visit this thread: Thread 118160

However, please refrain from posting things like "Has there been any news on this score?" because if there had been any news, you would certainly know about it and be incapable of missing it. In fact, if you get on here often, the only possible way to miss something that monumental is if you couldn't get on the internet (or if the Shrine got hacked again, I guess). I am giving you this advice not because I think you could be an idiot but to save you of the kind of mockery idiots in the past of this type have encountered.

I found quite strange COMPLETE SCORE for GLADIATOR. Probably this is the complete score with sfx and probably I found it at http://hanszimmerscore.blogspot.com which is inactive now.

There are 30 files in it. The names of some of them are:
- "Plans / Senators Arrested / Secrets";
- "Sand Of The Coliseum";
- "Near The End";
- "The Snake";
- "This Isn't The Dream Of Marcus Aurelius";
- "Thumb Down";
- "Why Is He Still Alive?";
- "Always Serve Rome";
- "A Prison Of Fear";
- "Proximo / Not Yet / Arrive In Rome / He Is Loved";
- "Escape / Homecoming / Sorrow / Not Yet (SFX Version)";
- "Gladiators, I Salute You / Battle In Chains / The Might Of Rome";
- "Intro / The German Battlefront";
- "Commodus And Lucilla / After The Battle".

COULD YOU HELP ME TO NUMBER THEM CORRECTLY?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Wow. This just about the amount of sarcasm that comes out some of the things I say normally. And I can get away with it because my monotone voice. (Sometimes people can't tell if it's sarcasm or not. Sometimes, I don't even know.) Maybe sarcasm is the wrong device here...dry sense of humor? I have that also.

I don't want to do a thread just for this, so for anyone interested here is an official preview for the long-awaited "Rubicon" score by Peter Nashel.

Rubicon - Official Score Preview - Peter Nashel - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upVRZg9_Kx4)

For those who don't know it, "Rubicon" was a short-lived AMC tv show about a group of analysts in a very reclusive think tank trying to prevent the next attack on the country.

It was a fantastic show and it's too bad it's been canceled at the end of season 1.

The main theme is one of the best I've ever known, here it is just to give you a taste :
Rubicon intro AMC (HD) - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ3iGeC_vvQ)

And the music by Peter Nashel is really fitting the show, ominous yet melodic and harmonious. I'm really glad we finally get to hear it in its full glory.

It's a nice score. Basically taking the anemic Pitch Black soundtrack and expanding with a REAL orchestra and chorus (for a film that makes no sense whatsoever, but hey: nice music).

MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT (Composer promo from Michael J. Lewis) (Lossless/FLAC)

For this colorful and rather wacky film from 1969, Michael J. Lewis composed a potpourri of wistful tunes with a French flair, and a few in a pop 60's mode. Composer Promo with 17 tracks totaling about 55 minutes. Good stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.

I've only seen a suggestion on the "unofficial" site that it probably wouldn't be released. Hope that's wrong. But it seems to me most everything eventually makes its way to the shrine in one form or another ;)

I never think of checking the request section first...

As a matter of fact I came across this YT video JUST before posting my request, had no idea the uploader was precisely a fellow shriner though... full circle and all that.

I read the info about a Watertower Music release on a french site here : Moi, dput - la BO - The Campaign - Musique de Theodore Shapiro :: Cinezik.fr (http://www.cinezik.org/critiques/affcritique.php?titre=campaign)
but I don't know where they get their info from. The release date seems wrong though.

Anyway, yes, I recently enjoyed a few Shapiro scores myself, notably Tropic Thunder and this year's Pirates. He's good.

Looking for this new realese!

Complete Score Released yesterday

THE LONG GOODBYE
John Williams

Quartet Records presents the first complete release of John Williams’s score for The Long Goodbye, a film directed by Robert Altman in 1973 and inspired by the Raymond Chandler novel. The film starred Elliot Gould as Philip Marlowe, with Sterling Hayden, Nina Van Pallandt, Mark Rydell, Henry Gibson, a cameo appearance by David Carradine, and an uncredited Arnold Schwarzenegger!

This film represents the second score by John Williams for a film by Robert Altman; it was preceded by Images (1972) and some episodes of the TV series “Kraft Suspense Theatre” in the early sixties.

For this revision of the Philip Marlowe character, Altman asked Williams to provide a most unusual score: one single theme repeated throughout the film with many variations adapted for various scenes. The tune, one of Williams’ most inspired from the seventies, is presented as a song (lyrics by Johnny Mercer), with vocals by Jack Sheldon and Clydie King. Williams also presents the theme in different jazz versions (with the Dave Grusin Trio), as a tango, in blues style (“Night Talk”), as a warm love theme for trumpet and strings, on sitar (for the hippie party), or in Mexican variations for the last part of the film (“Mariachi,” “Guitar Nostalgia”). Williams arranged and personally supervised the different versions, in addition to adapting the song as underscore (“The Border, “Marlowe in Mexico, “The Mexican Funeral” and “Finale”). The lengthy 10-minute “Main Title” sequence deserves special mention as an example of how Williams developed his tune.

No album of The Long Goodbye was released at the time of the film, nor was the single with the Jack Sheldon and Dave Grusin versions prepared by United Artist Records. With the passing of time, the tapes for many United Artist films of that period have been lost, but eight years ago part of the score (about 23 minutes) was released by Varse Sarabande in a limited edition CD that quickly sold out. To assemble this album we had to do some detective work, but that has been possible thanks to the efforts of MGM. In their vaults they found (in addition to the tape containing the versions included in the previous edition), two tapes containing new versions: an alternate of Dave Grusin, a jazz piano version featuring Williams himself, and some takes from the underscore. To complete the underscore assembly we used two different 35 mm. magnetic music stems in mono with acceptable sound quality. Finally, a trio of bonus tracks (found on the tapes) concludes the album: a fascinating and fun vocal in which singer Clydie King ad-libs while getting her voice into the song’s vibe, a rehearsal of the beach house party chorus with Jack Riley and Clydie King singing with the crowd, and a rehearsal of the solo violin for “Tango Version.”

So here, finally, is the original concept of John Williams for The Long Goodbye, as conceived by Robert Altman. Because of the many repetitions of the tune and the different sources from which the cues are drawn, this album is not presented in film order, but arranged for pleasant home listening.

I have a question regarding the retail album for Amazing Stories: The Mission/Dorothy And Ben. On the Amazon listing, it says for label MCA/Universal, but the front and back covers are very clearly labeled as Varese Sarabande. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what gives?

If it's this one:

then it's Varese

I know that, because I have the covers. BUT, Amazon's page for it gives the label as MCA/Universal. Is that just a mix up? No big, just curious. Not sure I'll keep it. The Anthology vol 3 set has the actual score from The Mission with more tracks. I am not sure about the other episode. Hmmm

RELATIVE VALUES (promo release) (John Debney) (lossless/flac)
Based on a 1950s play by Noel Coward, Relative Values couldnt be anything but a witty romp about class distinction. Debney contributed a witty romp of a score too, and this promo from the Kraft-Benjamin-Engel Agency has 22 "excerpts" totaling about 30 minutes. Good stereo sound. No dialog or sfx. Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.

And while I'm asking, anyone have a RIP (music wise) for Legend of the Seeker (the only existing OST is for ep 1 only); so for season 1 & 2. [Joseph LoDuca]

I have some cues for Merlin Season 3 ripped from the composer's web-site. I think I used to have a very poor promo for Legend a few years ago, but I don't anymore and have no idea where it came from. There is no promo for Sucker Punch. There is the OST, and a few score tracks ripped from various composers. That's it. No score or rips to be had. It is a much wanted thing.

Ahhh Ghost And The Darkness may be alot of things, but "irishy", it's definitly not one of them, since the music was clearly inspired on Africa, with the Lebo M vocals, which doesn't have anything to do with the irish, are you sure you toosed out the correct score?:rofldata:

Yes, I tossed out the right score. If you have the CD read the liner notes.

The film utilizes three prominent themes and a number of secondary motifs, and the ethnicity often bleeds from one theme into another. The title theme is a very workmanlike and bold brass fanfare for the process of building the bridge, a theme that exists throughout the score. Since the true-life lead character of the film hails from Ireland, Goldsmith uses a continuously rambling rhythmic motif suggesting that origin under the remaining orchestral and African elements that perform the actual theme over that progression. This Irish touch injects the score with its keen sense of work ethic, driving the more dramatic scenes of a thousand extras with a reminder of the forces that command them. Overshadowing the Western influence inherent in the orchestra is the staggering African style, one which Goldsmith introduces to us only this one time in his career. It includes native Hindu and African chants by both adults and children in conjunction with an extremely eclectic set of real percussion (not dominated by drum pads, as Medicine Man had been) that includes rattling and struck elements along with an enriching variety of drum

I lost my copy of The Ghost and the Darkness years ago. But the theatrical poster still adorns my wall. I always felt the soundtrack release was rather thin and that there were more tracks out there. Maybe once a blu-ray comes out someone will rip that. One can hope anyway.

The Jerome Moross revival that was started by Wildwood Park's post of "The Jayhawakers" and continued through a number of great posts is really a very nice way to rediscover this composer. And looking through the available releases I realized that there was one CD I never managed to track down (and that was long sold out when I wanted to buy it):
Two National Geographic scores "Yankee Sails Across Europe" (by Elmer Bernstein) and "Grizzly" (by Jerome Moross) released very early (# 12) in Intrada's Special Collection.
Does anybody have this title and would be kind enogh to share?

MR. MAGOO (unreleased score by Michael Tavera) (lossless/flac)
This 1997 family comedy with Leslie Neilsen (R.I.P.) as the bumbling millionaire with terrible eyesight has a pleasantly comic score (without being too cartoony) by Michael Tavera. 29 tracks totaling about 52 minutes. Great stereo sound. No dialog or sfx. Links for previous posts of this score are now dead and were for Mp3 as well. I am posting this at the request of another ffshriner.

Hi folks,
Has anyone come across a recording of Jerry Goldsmith's unused score for PUBLIC EYE ?
It was recorded, but never released due to the score being replaced with Mark Isham's work.

Cheers,

ANDY
