Yes, I just saw it there. It's nice to know there's still a couple of places where these "forbidden" (lol) items can be found/uploaded. :)

FYI, the new club titles have been announced from the V. label. I definitely have my eye on one or two titles (I'm a huge fan of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, so that one's a definite). Kinda broke right now, but I'll be keeping an eye out to see if anything's about to sell out fast. (Scream might possibly, only 2000 units of that one. Already have the bootleg though. We'll see.) I'll let you guys know if I get anything (discretely of course). :)

Does anyone happen to know if there's a lossless version out there of Spiderbait's "Riders in the Sky"? It was the end credits to Ghost Rider.
I have the blu-ray and hesitant to do a rip, even though it's lossless, it has sfx in it. I might just do a lossless rip later and see if there's a work around, hopefully there's no music in the center channel and no sfx in the surrounding channels...

Okay, so I ripped the Spiderbait song from Blu-Ray.
And I was right, SFX in all channels, music in all channels as well.
It is dynamically 5.1 with every little thing that happens.
I'm not going to use any filters or anything to try remove it, I tried Adobe Audition with some little band-aid tool which failed.
If I try anymore, it'll ruin the entire song and experience.
So I'm going to upload just the straight blu-ray rip with dialoge and sfx :/
Later though.
FLAC and MP3@VBR-0

I could not find a VGM hunt thread, so I will post this request here, does anybody have a rip of BFME 1 and 2, it MUST have Howard Shore's music, it has some unreleased/Theatrical cues

I have the games, plus Rise of the Witch King. It does have HS's score in it. But I don't think there's anything new that you can't find on the Original retail and the Complete Recordings. There's additional music by different artists made for the game.

I can install the games, have a peek and see what I find. Oriignal formats/bitrates. I will not be converting anything to FLAC or any lossy formats, as the original format/bitrate is best and any more work would degrade quality. I think the games have a low-medium format/bitrate.

Okay, so I installed all 2 games plus expansion.
And the music is archived in the .BIG format.
The music is also mp3@160.
The music is also labled "acevil01_t05.mp3" etc
The tags don't offer much difference.
The music is also broken up to allow infinite looping based on game play.
There'll be music by HS (which I don't think has anything new, imo. I've been playing the game for years).
There'll also be music from the other composers for the game: Jamie Christopherson and Bill Brown.
It will be posted in the VGM section, however, not here.

It will be uploading tonight on multiupload and be about ~630MB when it's finished.

I watched the movie, and had a terrible time trying to pay attention to the only redeeming thing. I dl'd a dvd rip, but the sound fx only reminded me of the movie. Many of my ''holly grails" has been released in the past years. I can think of Back to the Future, First Knight, the new recording of Conan, the first Batman score by Elfman, Barry's Until September, and the complete Clash of the Titans. So what's left? Not much i guess, but if i had to choose then i wouldn't mind to see released Goldsmith full complete Star Trek Motiom Picture score along with the alternate versions, together with a thick and informative booklet and pristine sound!

Thank you kindly Sanico! "Wopila tanka" as we say in Lakota!

Years ago my Holy Grail was the score for 'SpaceCamp' by John Williams (and I'm talking about before ipods mps's etc...1992 ish) and I searched high and low. I finally got it on ebay from someone in Japan, I had to wait 2 weeks before I received it in the mail.
I was ecstatic!

Here is Walt Disneys The Rescuers (1977)
It has some minor SFX
(Mr Butler lost his music in a basement flood some years ago so we wont see anything released soon)
VBR 120MB 26 tracks (including the whole story with narrating (English) and music as a BONUS track taken from an old LP)

Download - WDBBAB.rar - Sharebee.com, the one and only online file hosting distribution service. (http://sharebee.com/505623e2)

Can't wait for you to upload this. The version I have I think is confined to one speaker. Sucks so bad.

Hypocrisy or not, this community has rules when it comes to sharing.... and if some label requests/demands for its releases to not be posted, we all must comply with it.... Or you'd rather see the place shutted down?

Amanda
05-26-2011, 08:43 PM
Meh. It's all a matter of working within a communitie's rules. I believe in sharing freely, yet I am also a member of a couple of private boards, and am not free to share from those sites. I can go ahead and do it..true to my personal values, or respect the board, and keep that source. Here, I respect the label bans. Elsewhere, there are none. It all works out. I don't see the issue?

Ok, I'm behind. Is it ok to share? via pm? Or just post? Tak asked us not to, has he changed his mind? Can he be held responsible for our (my) actions? He is the only reason I would hold back. Otherwise i'd be tempted to just post, since it is now only a matter of time before it shows at like paradox and stuff. so where are we on this?

---------- Post added at 10:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 AM ----------

I am frustrated, I think this is kinda bullshit. I know, there are those things not really meant to be shared, and I do understand and respect that. But, once Tak shared it, that's kinda the tipping point, no? Even though he took it down, we all know it was grabbed. We ALL know it is making rounds, but we can't talk about it, or post it. I think really, it's just silly now. And, it kinda sucks for those just joining the party. Oh, it's here, but ya can't have it, don't even ask. It goes against everything I feel. If ya have something like this, either share or don't, but as I have said before, the "Secret Squirrel" stuff is just crap. :(

I haven't seen it myself, so I don't know what kind of music it is, but you could probably record it yourself. If you have a Blu-Ray player on your computer, that is. After that, download "Audio Recorder for Free" or Audacity and you can rip the music right there.

It's probably John Frizzell's Primeval you have.

Some jackass retagged it then uploaded it as Shore's rejected Kong score a few years. It spread fast and is obviously still floating around as a fake Kong score.

As far as I know nothing was ever released, however I heard a while back there was talk of some of it being released on a compilation. Haven't heard anything of it since.

There are a number of things I's like to see, but anything I would grant "Grail" status to for me has already been granted....mostly thanks to many members here..:D

I know this was posted days ago, but I only peruse every now and then. I have to agree with this statement though, and re-thank everyone for everything over my time spent here. Even just recently FINALLY getting "Friday the 13th (2009)" and the Recording Sessions to both "The Dark Knight" AND "Batman Begins" I don't even know where to begin with what's left to "want". Although I do agree with a few other posts, if they would leak all of the POTC like that, I would be even more happy than I have been these last few days. But anyway, thanks again to everyone on here, it's been a wild trip so far. Lots of music I would have never gotten to enjoy.

Just a small information for all the people who are waiting for my Pleasantville bluray rip (yes I know, I can't post it here). I just got the disc and skipped through it. The specs are 5.1, 48kHz, 640kbps.

Everyone who doesn't know the isolated score track from the DVD: Randy is sometimes talking through some cues and sometimes they faded the movie sound in, very annoying. They also didn't mention all cue names, and the Varse album (as always) changed the names, so I won't use them.

My bluray player doesn't play the disc properly, and there's no new firmware for it available. I have another player, but that one doesn't support W7 64bit. I don't know when I will have time to install Vista just for the extraction, so be patient.

Yes, it is.., now. But my original post was because people are requesting stuff like that on the day of release, on an open public forum, which we KNOW is watched over by those in the releasing industry. It also just pisses me off how impatient people are. Pretty much anything fairly big is getting put up here, fair enough if it were a bootleg or recording sessions that someone had announced was being released or had been seen somewhere, but this was a retail release of one of the big movies of the year.

Did anyone on the site NOT expect it to be posted as soon as someone got it? It was f**kin obvious that it was going to be posted, yet people were anxiously requesting it which makes me want to find them and smack them round the head like the 5 year old they are for asking a stupid question, impatiently.

Sort of..more demanding than anything. And the demand for logs, or "proof' of lossless. Seems...dunno...off. I'd like to think it is just a matter of translation, or the lack of tone in typing..but I don't think it is.

I agree. I love lossless just as much as the next person, but people are starting to get really vicious when it comes to "How dare you post something that isn't true lossless????" (I got a hint or two of "this isn't lossless" when I put up my version of the "Psycho" score. Lovely.) Let's face it, if I was hanging out with friends, and heard a song playing on their stereo/computer/radio/whatever, and if I said "This isn't lossless, it sucks", they'd probably look at me like I was an idiot (along with saying get the hell out of my house). lol

yea, rcording sessions, complete scores. i think those two are getting mixed up a lot. Recording sessions can be interesting, but true sessions are not always the best listening experience. Is there really gonna BE a next Trek movie? I thought the last one pretty much killed all I loved dear...

Wasn't that what got this forum in trouble with FSM originally over the Ron Jones thing?

Amanda
06-01-2011, 12:41 AM
...Not entirely. It was posted as 320 for a few days. Then someone else posted it as FLAC. I do not believe FSM cares if it is good or bad quality, they do not want their stuff shared period. It may just have been bad luck that it was noticed at the same time flac was posted. Certainly, it didn't help matters any. But if even a 128 had popped on Lucas's search, I figure he'd have been just as angry.

But, I can see why more and more want it. I can also see how the posting of essentially pristine copies, along with HQ art, could just turn up the heat some. It is going to be a bone of contention sooner or later. We'll see.

Certainly, the posting of releases in Flac the day they come out, and such, is going to draw a lot of attention.

Well after having a conversation with a FLAC enthusiast I can give you some reasons why they insist on a LOG & CUE in every file. Some people try to pass off a FLAC rip as a real one but they have transcoded from another format..they will not include a LOG file because there aren't any generated from transcoder programs.

Sometimes people who download a FLAC file without a LOG or CUE make fake ones using other programs but they can in no way contain accurate information like the originals generated from a program like EAC. The CUE file is only for those who wanna burn there FLAC files to cd.

So in the end it boils down to this...FLAC fans collect so they can have a true non-counterfeit image of the original cd and it makes them angry when others try to fudge it.

Which is pretty silly considering they can't tell the difference between true lossless and fake without a file that tells them if it's a proper rip. If you can't hear the difference yourself, why bother? Lossless in this genre of music does not make that much of a difference. Yep, I said it.

Well Exact Audio Copy is a free open source program which is now available for MAC (http://geekwithfamily.com/2006/09/08/audiophile/max-brings-exact-audio-copying-to-the-mac//) but fair warning should you try it...it's a real bitch to set up.

Personally I have only just gotten into FLAC but I am not as adamant regarding the LOG file but I do prefer there's a CUE file so I can burn it.

<snip>
makes them angry when others try to fudge it.

Well put even if that's only part of the issue. Such a topic is highly prone to trolling, misunderstandings and extreme viewpoints anyway, better avoid this alap. :D

To keep the ranting short: 'proper' lossless rips provide both security (quality wise - no need to worry about sound artifacts, glitches and scratches, incomplete tracks, vendor lock-in, obsolescence etc.) and freedom (from the listener's viewpoint: with a single source you are and will always be able to listen to music in the format and quality you like on any [future] device you own). It does not take much effort (and absolutely no money, be it on Linux or Mac or whatever else) to produce a decent rip, a cuesheet and/or extraction log are only a few KB in size, so why be lazy and decide unilaterally what others should enjoy and use? <proselytism> XLD on Mac is free, CDParanoia on linux is free, CueRipper on win is free </proselytism> No need to get stuck with EAC if you don't really want to.
Indeed 'fake' lossless and lossy-to-lossy conversions (not to say a mix of both) are complete nonsense - a suboptimal waste of space and time (and bandwidth).

As pointed by babydoll, there are also economic concerns that come with. Imho it's still a minor issue.

So if I rip in flac from a CD, I'm being lazy. I have to prove it's FLAC. Frankly if my "gift" is not wanted.. don't take it. NO PROBLEM.

Well, it's up to your personal taste and state-of-mind (and availabilities), exactly :) No crime, and no need to shout ^^

A gift is a gift. I don't ask for proof of origin of a Christmas present. I can see that if I copy a CD to be able to sell the original that I might want to give myself the peace of mind of a perfect copy, before I sell the original. But if I keep the original and give away the copy why must I prove the copy is as good as the original ?. I can see if a swap is involved that the issue of proof might come into play, but here we give away... I've read elsewhere that a log file can be mocked-up anyway ?. So in the end, you either trust the integrity of the person giving and accept, or you don't.

I agree. I don't need a log or cue file. If someone uploads something in FLAC, I'll take my chances and appreciate it for whatever it is, especially seeing as how it's free. If it sounds good, it sounds good, period.

An extraction log is easy to fake, indeed, but that's quite pointless anyway. It's just a convenience provided to the few (anal-retentive) people who could need it for whatever purpose, certainly not the alpha and omega of error-free copies (that's what aucdtect, accuraterip and a decent pair of ears are for :D) /off-topic

Amanda
06-01-2011, 02:50 AM
Here is my take. If you listen to the thing, and it sounds good....cool. For most people. However there are a few hard core collectors ( I know a few around these parts..:D) who are more like archivists, and then having all the documentation and such could be of interest. I say interest, not need. If it is a NEEEED, buy the album yourself. That said, my main issue is the tone with which these things are sometimes asked for, not the asking itself. Need the log? Just say, may I. Not.."HEY! Where's the damn log"....Beyond that, I feel flac may be a bit high profile, but that is an issue mods will have to decide in the future if it does become a problem. Right now, I know there are many views on it, and since it is a personal choice thing....
