I have an expanded speed in mp3 320. I have the original score album as disc. I did not know yet another version was being released. I am sorry to say I will not give it even passing consideration. I may dl it, but nothing more.

The speed archive has 23 tracks. Where did that come from theb? What is the new release even supposed to have..?

Why are people asking for versions that haven't even hit the streets yet ?.

Because their need to hear it outweighs reason? I think there will always be requests like this no matter how much anyone bitches about it.

Remastered, and in film order. Oooooooo

I do not know what the boot is, but is there really any missing music? The addition of the end song "speed" is more of an incentive for me to burn the album, rather than but it...

So, to catch everybody up to "speed" (pun kinda sorta intended), La-La Land just released a 3-CD set of "Planet of the Apes" (Elfman) and "A Walk in the Clouds" (haven't seen either of those appear online just yet). They announced "Speed" expanded, "Jennifer 8" 2-CD set, and "The Mechanic", all of those come out on the 28th. And then they just announced "Hook" expanded (I take it that it's a 2-CD set because it's $29.98), and that one doesn't come out till sometime in March.

I was also told that there would be no learning or educational value here at the forum either. (Seriously, John Williams and James Horner just stand in front of a bunch of strangers with instruments, and they start waving their arms really big, and then really good music comes out of nowhere and goes straight into the movie. It's true. I'd look it up, but that would be too educational.)

My guess: OST + unreleased cues from the MV/Remote Control promos.

I do not know what the boot is, but is there really any missing music?
Yes. And some tracks have not been released in their film version. Also, some cues on the OST are what I remember merged for listening experience. I have tons of stuff on my want list LLL could try to get the rights to, but if they are offering this, I'll take it.

Considering they released "Speed 2", and it still hasn't sold out, I think you're safe, though the first film score is a little more popular.

Ya man, Speed 1 grossed 3 times than Speed 2. Not to mention that Speed 2 was considered one of the worse sequels ever (I think it's fun by the way, although the script is rather weak-bonkers-dopey). Not only did Mancina compose much more music than Speed 1 or Twister, but also his cues were very melodic and inspiring.
People are biased and predisposed by the movie itself (whether it was successful or not). Take for instance Michael Kamen's Die Hard. The are people who oppose that the score is unimaginative and mundane. Yet still LLL's release sold like a butter, for the film was a commercial success.

Maybe, but time and time again film score fans purchasing from various labels (FSM, Quartet, Music Box, Intrada, LLLR, etc.) have shown they don't give a flip how much money the film made or how well known the score is, they'll plop down for it if they like it.

I agree, it has started to get a bit tense around here. Somebody asks for something (sometimes a bit early, I'll agree), and people start jumping down their throats. For instance, I'm almost afraid to ask if anyone has the new 3-CD set of "Planet of the Apes" (Danny Elfman) from LLL.

thepoetspeaks

One of the things I have liked on FFShrine was that most everyone is cool and diplomatic. But with the FSM blog, for instance, there's perhaps 3 or 4 of the same uptight ***holes who jump down someone's throat if they make an "unimformed comment", or, in other words they disagree with the poster, rather passionately, I might add. As if they could be nothing subjective in opinions about composers, there work, or a particular release. Woe to the person that criticizes Lukas Kendall, for instance! There's sacred cows for sure in the FSM blog. I find it most offputting that these few anal-retentive types tend to sour the generally cool atmosphere. And I'm not suggesting that we have the same issue here. I hope this blog would not change from it's overall friendly atmosphere.

Just a few thoughts....

I hope you are not referring to me, as I haven't called anyone here an asshole. If that was your impression, I certainly did not intend that. We are from all different walks of life, and our experiences and knowledge are varied. We share in common an interest in film scores obviously--enjoy collecting and discussion obviously. I like the FSM blog, but again there's those few that show not patience or act like if someone doesn't agree with these elite sorts, that they act like you called their sister or mother a whore. That's what can detract from an enjoyable blog. Hope that clarifies my point.

He studied under Stanley Myers, so while it would please me to no end to know he was essentially one of those talks about, but never named "whistlers", I doubt Myers would have let him work without learning basic composition.

Guys is it true that Hans Zimmer doesn't have neither a master's degree nor a bachelor's degree on film scoring?
I've heard that he's mostly self-taught. Somewhere it was mentioned that he hadn't been able to read notes in the past.

There are quite some interviews on youtube where he (incidently) tells about his upbringing. He quit piano lessons after he finally got lessons, because he had to do it in a very precise and predescribed way. He wants to do thing his own way, etc just look up some interviews..

It's funny you found a site that matches your name! I already joined a few days ago and it gives me 10 GB storage. I wonder if it will stay free though as according to their mission statement "Our goal is to create a world-class product and experience for our users and the business model will follow. We can see many ways Minus can monetize itself."

unfortunately, sinus.minus.com was already gone. :)
we'll see how it works out for minus.com but at the moment it's very recommendable.

According to Elfman in an interview, that was never true. In fact, long before his film scoring, he was doing writing in Oingo Boingo, and before Oingo Boingo he was doing music on the streets of Paris with his brother in an "Avant-garde" music group.

These are not unused scores, but two different demo submission promo compiled into one, wth cues from various projects, so he would be considered to score the two films.

La-La Land Records presents composer Jerry Fieldings (STRAW DOGS, THE ENFORCER, THE GAUNTLET, SEMI-TOUGH) classic original action score to the legendary 1972 MGM action-thriller THE MECHANIC, starring Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent and directed by Michael Winner. An atmospheric marvel of sonic textures and experimental approaches, Fieldings chilling score truly is the stone-cold-heart of this classic hitman/apprentice tale. Aside from perfectly capturing action and suspense, Fieldings score gives the film a depth and resonance beyond its celluloid. Aside from some audio enhancements, a slightly different track order and new packaging and liner notes, the audio content is the same as the Intrada release, so this re-issue is geared for fans who do not currently own that previous release. Produced by Ford A. Thaxton and mastered by James Nelson, this release features in-depth, exclusive liner notes by film music writer Randall D. Larson. This is a limited edition of 1200 units.

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures presents a special 2-CD SET of two original scores to the 1992 Paramount Pictures motion picture thriller JENNIFER 8, starring Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, and Lance Henriksen and written and directed by Bruce Robinson. Disc One features acclaimed composer Christopher Youngs (HELLRAISER, RUNAWAY JURY, THE CORE, DRAG ME TO HELL) original score considered to be the composers breakthrough work in terms of scoring films for major studios. For this release, Young has re-visited his career-making score and has provided a new, magnificent 48 minute assembly creating the ultimate presentation of his haunting and beautiful work, a melodic and atmospheric score that injects the film with suspense and human emotion. Disc Two presents renowned composer Maurice Jarres (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE PROFESSIONALS, GHOST, A WALK IN THE CLOUDS) unused original score to the same film. Jarre scored about 75% of the film before his music was replaced with Youngs score. About 40 minutes of Jarres score is presented here and fans will be delighted to finally have this previously unreleased work, which is in the vein of his music for WITNESS and GHOST. In total, this release is a fascinating look at two different scoring approaches by two immensely talented composers. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Mike Matessino, this limited edition release of 2000 Units includes in-depth, exclusive liner notes by film music writer Jeff Bond.

Ya, LLL has released a nice set of Mancina scores : Speed, Speed 2, Bad Boys and Money Train.
Reports say that there is some music missing from the commercial Twister. There could be also unused/alternative cues, you never know... Either way, I firmly believe that Twister deserves an expansion and remaster.

Yes the cue when the chasers leave Wakita and the lady to hunt down a twister, the Mancina theme that later turns to Van Halens Humans Being is missing which is the best cue in the movie i.m.o

Would love an official Fair Game by Mancina released too :)

Hey, that sounds like a spectacular idea. Better yet, shouldn't you be able to ban his IP address or something of the like? I haven't seen any nut jobs pop up demanding more Pirates music since you guys kicked out CaptainJackSparrow earlier last year. Whatever you did there should work here as well.

@Top Notch, what's with the change of heart? Did you miss Schenectady too much?

Jessie

That guy left on his own, we didn't do anything.

The Dimensioner

Are you sure CJS left on his own? I still remember the night. He went berserk so they banned him for three days. He couldn't even wait and generated two or possibly three accounts in his down time, and took the time to rename 59 copies of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" so they were the names of the longer PotC4 demos as shown off by 724921. His new accounts were instantly banned and I'm pretty sure they destroyed his main account as well. If you say he left on his own, then I believe he may have committed suicide over the music and that's why we haven't seen him since. The story gets worse considering just a few short weeks later, scoreman uploaded the complete demos, and I never saw CJS commenting there.

About Top Notch, I couldn't tell if he had already been banned or not, since his status said "b7" in bold, rather than "Banned".

Jessie
03-01-2012, 06:49 PM
I banned him for three days, along with two others. There was no proof that was him posting that stuff as the IPs didn't match. His account is still unbanned, as far as i know.

I was trying out a new way of banning, that's why it says b7 instead of banned.

The Dimensioner
03-01-2012, 06:50 PM
I apologize for straying from the main point of this topic, but what does b7 represent?

Jessie
03-01-2012, 06:52 PM
It's just a different form of being banned. There's a banned my moderator option and banned (not good) option, I used the latter this time, thought it was appropriate.

Really? He just no longer posts here, I take it. I wonder if he was satisfied with scoreman's upload. Despite making a fool out of himself for, what, like 72 hours consecutively or more, I guess I do feel a bit sorry for the guy. And I'd assumed he'd been perma-banned, rendering him unable to get the complete demos just a few short weeks after 7 brought on the whole ordeal.

That goes without saying, you should always back up your music to DVD discs.

Let's do the math a spindle of 50 DVD discs at about 10 bucks.

4.7GBx50= 230GB or so, that's pretty damn cheap to backup your music.

Bad Boys is good too. But a bit repetitive. But the three of them are a nice set. We have an expanded Speed and Bad Boys. Is there anything really missing from the Twister score album?

My Scores :
The Lion King Both Scores
Footloose By Deborah Lurie (DVDRip)
The Black Cauldron
Pocahontas
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
And Many Others...

It's a shame to hear that Snakes. I find it best to store music on external hard drives instead of a computer and they have never failed. Copying to DVD takes much longer and may not last as long. What do others do?

I am paranoid about losing stuff so I actually have 2 backup external hard drives at home that I rotate weekly...

They are pretty cheap at about $150 US for a 3 TB drive...

Yeah, I actually have 5 different copies of all my music. I have everything backed up on DVD discs, all my stuff on two iPods, and also on 2 different external hard drives. I figure having all my music in 5 different places is pretty safe.

@snake: If the HDD also appears you have lots the files, use Recuva Data Recovery, it is for free. It is also able not to just recovery your data but to rebuild the complete folder structure, which is necessary, because else all your files would be a jumbled mess. Recuva is great, it saved me many times!

Any info is welcomed :D

Yes, for both of them. "Robin Hood" - with fx, "The Untouchables" [Ennio Morricone] without fx.

Good evening at all.
First one question:
I have this rar file downloaded from the web

but it's password protected.
Anyone knows the password or have this recording sessions in Flac or MP3?

And now...

I do not want to be a spoiled bratt bringing the bad news but as this is my fave Morricone score I must give you guys a heads up...THIS ISNT NEAR COMPLETE and a crappy bootleg with bad sound that misses almost all the iconic music and only have short stingers and the main theme...where is the End theme or "waiting at the boarder" for instance, or alot of the other fine music that is on the official release??
Dont bother with this one and keep the real CD as that has most of the great themes or add it with the crappy boot to have a more "expanded" release instead...

No offense to poster benuit who was nice to post this, but I just wants to tell people how it is with this "complete 33 tracker" that I already had and is so dissapointed with to...

Firstly my usual plea for the score from John Boorman's 1987 film Hope and Glory by Peter Martin... if anyone has this could they PM me a download link please, I've been looking for years now! (It's a VS release so it would need to be a PM.)
The other one I'm after is a bit of a tough ask as I don't think it ever got an official release, I don't know if it would be on anyone's score radar but I'm looking for the score/songs from 1989's The Tall Guy by Peter Brewis (when I say songs I mean the ones from Elephant! within the film)... if anyone has this I'd be VERY grateful! :)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... if music is worthy, it gets burns to a CD at my house. Don't want to listen to it off a computer or Ipod-thingee.

8 bucks for blank CD media... but no Pieta or Sistine Chapel as far as my wee eye can see. ;-)

Ah, one more thing. There is a promo for Ghost Whisperer: Leap of Faith sent to a fan out there. Anyone have it? Would anyone know if there is a way to find a track listing? Just curious.

Although, curiosity aside, it is a beautiful album. Very X-Files, and piano-y. :) Goddess likeys. :swoon:
