Thanks! Have you ever ripped soundtracks that used the Seta/Allumer custom sound chip, the X1-010? There is one game that uses that chip that has not been ripped yet, so this might prove difficult. It is called Ultra Toukon Densetsu.

I've a bit more interesting request: Hero Quest for NES. It's unreleased, but the prototype is available and the author of the music has also posted the NSF online. It definitely has some nice tunes.

His music for another unreleased NES game Eric the Viking might be worth a look as well.

Hello again, ruiner! Sorry for the absence (I sent a PM regarding a redone retag/reordered OST, too), but here are my newest requests for you!!

- Ardy Lightfoot (SNES; I'm surprised no one has requested this rare Super Nintendo platformer from ASCII, so might as well do the honors of requesting this.)
- Barunba (PC Engine; has some of the best music composed by Namco.)
- Nickelodeon GUTS (SNES; had memories of watching the show on YTV when I was young, and so wanted to request this.)

I can't do GTA 1&2 for GB, sadly. The music is unrippable.

The J-Walk soundtracks are going to take longer than expected, too.

As for KingTengu's requests, I'm currently not doing SNES, because I have no really good way of automating the process right now. PC Engine is legit, though. I'm going to look into SNES some more and see if I can get good-sounding rips without the volume problems present in my old method.

EDIT: Sooooo, maybe I AM doing SNES? Try these two soundtracks out and see how they sound:

Hi ruiner9!

I have three more Game Boy requests:

Armorines - Project S.W.A.R.M.
Top Gear Pocket
Top Gear Pocket 2

Similar to the Jungle Wars GB situation a few pages back in the thread, the .m3u-files seem screwed up in these three sets. Could you take a look at them and see if you can sort them out? I would be very thankful, as there doesn't seem to be any way to listen to them as they are now.

Hey, Ruiner, since you're doing Super NES now(?), could you rip the songs for the Japan-Only Super Puyo Puyo and Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu? I'm kind of on a Puyo Puyo kick right now after Puyo Puyo Tetris came stateside. Oh, and Mega Man Soccer would also be nice. Thanks!

Holy crap I think you've solved it. I'm not familiar with the OST's of both games so I don't know if they sound off or anything (I highly doubt it though), but there's certainly no volume issue OR song cut off before it fully fades out. Ardy Lightfoot doesn't seem to sound quite as clear as some of the YouTube uploads though.

I'm going to up the sample bitrate on the SPC decoder from 16-bit to 32-bit for future rips. That should help the clarity.

I don't know really...when I was a kid I didn't really know much about Japan, nevermind Japanese television shows. I was like 5 yrs old when the 90's came around.

But, looking back now, I guess I like it; the music was appropriate, giving out a sense of urgency as you play. As for the other two...I never played those or heard it OST to give out my opinion, but I might consider finding the OST to those ones someday.

Thanks, dude! :D I have a challenge for you- Is there a way to get the SNES soundtracks of Battle Commander: Hachibusyu Syura no Heihou, Haou Taikei Ryu Knight, and Gaia Saver? No one has either ripped the soundtracks yet on SPCMusic.org.

Got some new requests for you, ruiner, and all of them are Super Nintendo themed!

- Farland Story (A Shining Force-eqsue RPG game from Banpresto.)
- Farland Story (Sequel to the above game.)
- Matsumura Kunihiro Den: Saikyou no Rekishi wo Nurikaeru! (A silly fighter featuring the Japanese comedian Kunihiro Matsumura dressed in a karate uniform, as well as an odd bunch of characters)
I agree with Matsumura Kunihiro Den- it was another game made by Office Koukan and Shouei System, composed by my favorite SNES composers, Mitsuyasu Tomohisa and Masahiro Kusunoki.

No, sorry. If an SNES game hasn't been ripped by now, that means it would take some Herculean effort (playing a long Japanese language game through or hacking the rom) to get it done, neither of which I have the time or skills to do.

Today’s episode is a focus on Undercover Cops, an arcade beat ‘em up developed by Irem in 1992 that was later ported to the Super Famicom in 1995. It featured a soundtrack that heavily relied on contemporary influences, namely New Jack Swing and R&B, complete with vocal samples and epic orchestra hits. The man behind both versions of the music is Takushi Hiyamuta, well-known for his work on Super R-Type, Neo Turf Masters, and the Metal Slug series. Using their patented “Same Song, Different System” formula, Mike and Ed compare the Arcade and Super Famicom versions of the soundtrack to see which one really stands out as the best overall OST. The results may surprise you!

It's so good to be back on the boards again! :D

Anyways, I got three new SNES requests for you, ruiner, and these fill out some gaps in the "E" section.

- Edo no Kiba (Developed by Riot. The title screen calls it "Edono Kiba", but we'll stick with what SNESMusic calls it. Anyways, this game has some cool tracks, and that's all I have to say.)
- Elfaria: A Fantastic Theater (Composed by Shigeaki Saegusa.)
- Elfaria 2: The Quest of the Meld (The sequel to the above game, this time composed by Yukihide Takikawa of SoulBlazer.)

Regrettably, I own Bubsy 2. Yes, I do own that cartridge, but I didn't like it as much as Mega Man X.

Anyway, you are still doing Arcade games, correct? I have a couple, that might pose a challenge, but I know you can do it-
These are 2 of Visco's final arcade games- Vasara and Vasara 2. I don't know if the games have an internal sound test option, but if they don't, oh well.

I guess I can't come up with anything else as of right now.

Hello ruiner9! It's been quite some time since I requested something in this thread, but now I have two arcade classics I'd like to request from you:

R-Type
R-Type II

I hope these won't be too difficult!

Also, could you provide a new link for Altered Beast (Arcade)? It seems impossible to download it from the Arcade folder, MEGA just gives me a "retrying" message over and over again.

Hey, guys, I just discovered something interesting and cool!

When I was listening to the Farland Story 2 track "The Emperor", I realized that the song sounded familiar to me, and that's when I remembered that this sounded exactly like the Peace Keepers track "Boss Battle". Taking a quick check through SNESMusic.org, I discovered that one of the co-composers for Farland Story 2, Atsuyoshi Isemura, was one of the two composers for The Peace Keepers (Rushing Beat Syura).

Give those two tracks ("The Emperor" (Farland Story 2) and "Boss Battle" (The Peace Keepers/Rushing Beat Syura)) a listen and you'll be amazed at the similarities!! :D

Ah. I kinda wish he never left Jaleco, just like how I feel that Kazunori Hideya and Manabu Namiki should've never left NMK.

At least Manabu Namiki did well with the Konami Rebirth soundtracks by making Contra Rebirth sound like Super Contra arcade and Gradius Rebirth sound like Gradius III arcade.

Kazunori Hideya probably still works for Konami. Manabu Namiki supports M2 and a couple of record companies like Clarice Records and maybe SuperSweep.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the support. It's been a really rough couple of months for my family and we're all dealing with it in our own ways. To answer some of your questions:

1. Stopping the thread support doesn't have too much to do with my dad. It's more that my job has become much more time-consuming and my kids are growing up and I've been spending a lot more time with them on my off-hours. With that and doing PixelTunes, Impulse Project, and voiceovers for Audio PanicRoom, there's very little time left to rip soundtracks.

2. Several people have been asking about keeping the collection alive and have asked to donate money. So I've come up with a compromise for y'all:
-I can do another donation drive if you guys think you'll all be able to raise the approx. $100 USD to renew the MEGA account.
-I will move the collection to a new thread with a searchable list of soundtracks, similar to how nx666 has his set up (without the tables of composer info etc... too much work!)
-I will no longer take requests or make improvements on existing tracks, but I WILL update the collection from time to time with cool soundtracks I've found or things related to music in my podcasts that I may not have in the collection.

What do ya'll think? If there a positive response to this, I'll do the month-long donation drive and I'll work on getting the new thread together.

Thanks guys!

The Deliplayer project hasn't been updated for almost 10 years, and there is currently no way to legally obtain a license. Their website has been dead for a few years as well, so I think it's morally acceptable to use one of the keys floating around on the net. Put this file in the Deliplayer folder (where DeliUI.exe is) to unlock the Pro version: deli.key (https://mega.co.nz/#!XMJknRyD!F5JHDP4i994REcVJhVy0cdzxqDWcZ0e3c6NTvlH NSvI)
