OK, couple things!

1. I'm on vacation this week so I won't be updating that often. Maybe a few here and there, but that all depends. It's my wedding anniversary, Easter, and my youngest son's birthday all within 5 days of each other, so there's a lot going on!

2. A HUGE THANK YOU to VGManiac456 and S.P.D Gold Ranger for providing title tags for Destruction Derby 64, Gex 3, R-Type Delta, and NEO Contra! R-Type is being a pain in the butt right now, but the rest are uploaded at the time of this posting.

3. Speaking of thank yous, a few requesters here are just asking for more and more uploads without even showing a little appreciation. I'm not naming names, and most of you guys are totally awesome and I'd go the extra mile for you, but... I'm not an mp3 factory! It takes a few solid hours for some of the more obscure games, and if I post it for you, and your next interaction with me is just another list of 5 games, it doesn't feel that great. I'm sure you'd feel the same if you were in my shoes.

Um, what else? OH! GBA games. There's been a lot of requests for them, and I hate to keep turning people down. The fact is, there's very few available gsf sets for me to convert and remaster. Here is a list of games I can do. (http://www.caitsith2.com/gsf/) If it's on that site, your prospects are good. If it's not on that site, they're very slim. I'm not saying I definitely can't do it if it's not there, but I just don't want you to be disappointed if you ask and I have bad news.

OK, boys and girls, I'm outtie. See ya!

Absolutely! I'm always up for chatting about VGM. I'll have access to the forum by phone (which is how I'm posting now,) but I probably won't have too much sit-down time in front of my PC to make albums. I have no idea how many of them I've posted so far... It's in the thousands, I think. And I'm at about 75gb out of my 100gb total space. Eventually I'm going to run out of space, and I'm considering putting up a donation button to help me get a MEGA pro account. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. And now i feel i wanna say smth about graphics :)

You have Scud Race in arcade section. Shall i say that that game was like Crysis for 1996 (and arcade Virtua Fighter 3 with it) ?

Virtua Fighter 3 1996 AOU tech trailer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTBeGAhk79I)

Well, back to vgm discussion. I was surprised by Brian's pick from "Shadow of the Colossus". I totally forgot that epic track. I usually re-listening to more lyric pieces from that, like "The Farthest Land" and "Prayer". And, of course, "The Sunlit Earth". Here is pretty awesome cover of it, if anyone is curious:

Shadow of the Colossus - The Sunlit Earth - Piano - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z23bJrxADss)

Though i guess everyone knows it :)

OPNA version of XZR II is really good. My fav tracks from it now are: Ruro No Sinwa, Little Ram, Religious Woman, Ouji Wo Sukue, Scrumble Bones, Kari No Uta (what ethnic instrument does it imitate?..) and Aru Yuusya No Monogatari (nice tune to hum along).

SCUD Race is great, both in graphics and gameplay. Sega was really on top of their game back then. It's a shame it didn't last too long before other companies started catching up. There's at least one emulator out there, called Supermodel, that can run it really nicely. It plays at 60fps on my PC.

I'm pretty sure the Indian instrument you're thinking of is the Saraswati Veena (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0R3b71WXN4), right? The YM synths could simulate that sound pretty well, but the SNES had it down almost perfectly. I agree that the PC-88 version of XZR II is the best of them, and I really like it, but (in my opinion) nothing compares to Grounseed. That whole soundtrack is astounding!

Very interesting. Dark symphonic music in the SNES version, and chamber/ baroque music in the Genesis. Each works pretty well. And you're right, it really benefits the game when the music plays to the console's strengths. I'm reminded of Spider man & the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge's completely awesome SNES title music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Q0s95SRXM) and the horrifying Genesis version of it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0Vlbk5lgn0). But then again, both Super Turrican and Mega Turrican had the same music on each system and they both sounded good. I guess it's all in the hands of the composers!

I liked both versions of the music of Spiderman and X-Men- Arcade's Revenge, but in terms of quailty, I would have to say the SNES version is the best.

---------- Post added at 09:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:56 AM ----------

Big things today! First up, new promo photos for the podcast! Second, lots of tunes! Here's what's new!

SNES

Top Gear, Top Gear 2, and Top Gear 3000 - Since I was doing one, I figure why not the other two? Some sweet techno music from excellent Western composers.

Shin Megami Tensei 2 and Shin Megami Tensei - If... - Both from Tsukasa Masuko, so you know it's gotta be good! Excellent composition, and a little of everything in these two albums.

Street Combat - Irem's laughable attempt at a one-on-one fighter. The music is simple too, but kind of reminds me of Hiyamuta's work (Super R-Type, Undercover Cops). There's no known composer, so I guess we'll never know.

Spider-Man - Lethal Foes - It's a rare case of a Japanese sound team making music for a Marvel game! I wish I could say that it turned out OK. They used the same sound fonts as Hebereke's Popoitto, which is a good set, but it's far more suited to the dance music in that game, rather than the pseudo-70's rock they attempted to do in this one. Oh well. Can't win 'em all, right?

PSX

R-Type Delta - An interesting soundtrack in that it would switch on the fly in the game depending on if your ship was underwater, close to the ground, or up in the clouds. So in the game, you'd never hear the full versions of all of the expertly-crafted electronic songs. Well, here they are! If anyone can tag the titles on this one, it would be cool, because I don't know the names of the stages.

GBA

F-Zero Maximum Velocity - Little bit of rock, little bit of electronic, and a lot of crazy drum fills, and you have this game's album.

Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga - Yoko Shimomura's on this one, same as the other portable Mushroom Kingdom RPG's.

PC-88

XZR II - Are you guys sick of this soundtrack yet? Here's the third and final version! This one is for the OPNA-enabled PC-88, so at least it's the best-sounding of the three.

13 albums today! No wonder I'm frazzled. Hope you enjoy them!

I agree with you- I wish the Japanese made more music for Marvel games, but they don't- And as for Street Combat, I wish IREM did a better job with that game as well.

I'm not quite sure where to post that, so i post it here.
Can someone help identifying a Game for me? I have an unknown Song here, which is apparently from an N64 Game. The Song was cut out from a German Game Podcast, where they talked about the N64 and it's Games. But they didn't gave Information on where the Songs belong to.

Does somebody recognizes this Song and knows from which Game it is, because i would like to hear all Songs from that Game.

I have no idea. I thought it might be 1080 Snowboarding or Rush 2, but it's not them. Check those out if you like this track, though... very similar. If you find out what it is, let me know and I'll definitely post the whole game (if possible!)

Nice work! I've always liked the Raiden and Cotton themes. Does Ridegear Guybrave II sound anything like the first game? Because that one was pretty sweet.

I've got a few albums today, mostly because they have tracks in Episode 8, which is now underway. Check out:

Akumajo Dracula for the x68000 - Lots of really neat takes on the Castlevania tunes.

F-Zero GP Legend for the GBA - started out just checking to see if I could do this one... and I could... so I did it. :)

Quartet - An obscure Sega arcade System16 title that has REALLY GOOD synth music. Check it out!

That's it! Enjoy!

Been doing a little "Spring Cleaning," you might say, both at my house and in the collection. I've re-uploaded the NES albums for Mr. Gimmick! and Ninja Gaiden II, as they were two of my oldest soundtracks, and the version of Winamp I was using had a horrible bug that caused the title names to be horribly wrong. They're both incredible (especially Gimmick), so just re-download them and enjoy.

Also, the correctly-tagged version of R-Type Delta is up, too. I rearranged the tracks so that the songs go in the order of the stages they play in.

And lastly... one of my holy grails.... Starsky and Hutch is in the GameCube section. This was a hard one to find! It's got some super-funky tunes straight out of the 70's, and it was composed by this guy named Tim Follin... ever heard of him? ;) The cool part is the title theme. You may remember his Treasure Master NES title theme was a version of Starsky & Hutch's TV theme song, as he was a huge fan of the show. Hearing him do the REAL song is awesome, because it's basically hearing one of his best NES tracks done with a live band. I got a little excited about it. :)

OK folks... for those who celebrate, have a Happy Easter tomorrow! I may or may not be around to post, but I'll be back soon!

Makeruna! Makendou 2 (PS1) - (PSF not ripped)
Shenmue - It's 9 1/2 hours! Waaaaay too much music.
GB Memory - Looked high and low, can't find it.
Hissatsu Shigotojin - No rip available.

Other than that, things look pretty good for the rest. I'll probably have time to start doing a few tomorrow, but that's not a promise. :-0

Arcade (general):

Street Fighter Ex 2 Plus, Psychic Force, Ketsui, Gain Ground, Gaia Crusaders

I can agree with most of these, although Dangun Feveron is definitely in my top 3.

Neo-Geo AES/MVS:

Shock Troopers 2nd Squad, Metal Slug 5, Matrimelee, Rage of the Dragons, The Last Blade 2 (yes i do prefer cartridge version of music), Blazing Star, Sengoku 1-2

Shock Troopers all the way! I really like Garou: Mark of the Wolf, too.

PC Engine CD:

Double Dragon II, Rayxanber III, Cho Aniki, Psychic Detective Series Vol.3 Aya, Psychic Detective Series Vol.4 Orgel, Linda^3, Kaze Kiri, Ys III: Wanderes from Ys. And everything from T's Music!

Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire is my favorite, aside from the obvious Ys series!

NES/Famicom:

Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II, Silver Surfer, Journey to Silius, Gun.Smoke, Sky Shark, Hokkaidou Rensa Satsujin, Ninja Gaiden III - The Ancient Ship of Doom, Ninja Gaiden, Lagrange Point, Recca, Arumana no Kiseki

These are all great... and there's two Tim Follin games here! YES! Actually, Treasure Master and Pictionary are my two favorite NES titles he worked on.

SNES:

Chrono Trigger, Shin Megami Tensei, 7th Saga, Water World (pushing limits of snes audio to heaven), Donkey Kong Country series, Spider-Man X-Men: Arcade's Revenge, Super Bomberman 3, Vortex, Tenbu Spirits

Another Follin title here in the Spider-Man game. I'm more of a shmup guy on the SNES. Super EDF and Super R-Type both have tracks in the new podcast (out tomorrow!)

Sega Genesis + 32X + Mega CD:

Ecco the Dolphin series (+CD), Snatcher (CD), Terminator (CD), Gleylancer, Thunder Force IV, Aladdin, Bare Knuckle 2, Bare Knuckle 3, Mega Turrican, Sub Terrania (my fav Jesper Kyd soundtrack along with Scorcher), M.U.S.H.A., The Hybrid Front, Pulseman, Bio-Hazard Battle, Vectorman, Outrun 2019. Yes, i love Megardrive's FM synth stuff!

I was totally NOT a Genesis music fan AT ALL until I started taking requests. Then I got to hear all the stuff you've mentioned, plus Contra Hard Corps, Gunstar Heroes, and Kyd's stuff and I realized I was missing out on a lot!

Neo Geo CD:

Metal Slug 2, World Heroes Perfect, Ninja Master's, Pulstar, Art of Fighting 3, Last Resort

It's kind of a weird pick, but Soccer Brawl on the Neo CD is my favorite. We played the game for a couple hours at Mike's house one night and I really started to dig it.

Atari Jaguar:

Tempest 2000, Atari Karts, Battlemorph

Yeah... Jaguar. Wait, does Battlemorph have music? I have a Jaguar CD and the game CD, but I've never played it because I hate Cybermorph so much.... is it worth ripping?

Panasonic 3DO:

Killing Time, Off-World Interceptor, Total Eclipse.

Need for Speed, Road Rash, and Shanghai are my faves, aside from OWI and TE.

Sega Saturn:

Dragon Force, Torico (Lunacy), Shinobi X (version by Richard Jacques), Astal, Nekketsu Oyako (much better than psx version), Virtua Fighter 2, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Saturn Bomberman, Albert Odyssey, Sega Touring Car Championship, Thunder Force V, Layer Section, Hyper Reverthion, Steep Slope Sliders, Battle Garrega. Oh, Saturn is defintely my fav vgm system, especially those brilliant arranges of arcade ports.

No Sega Rally Championship? That was my JAM when I was a young teen! :)

PlayStation:

Ehrgeiz (only "fighting" side of soundtrack!), Persona: Be Your True Mind, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Threads of Fate, Parasite Eve, The Silver Case, Kula World, LSD: Dream Emulator, Wild Arms 1, Johnny Bazookatone, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, Machine Hunter, Zanac Neo, U.F.O. - A Day in the Life, Xevious - 3D/G+, Silent Hill, Armored Core: Masters of Arena, Sentinel Returns, Jumping Flash 2!, Echo Night, Spriggan: Lunar Verse, Gadget: Past as Future.

Bushido Blade 2 is the first one that comes to mind for me, then Power Moves Pro Wrestling, and Shinji Hosoe's AMAZING Ridge Racer soundtrack. A lot of these I haven't heard... I'll have to check them out.

N64:

Extreme-G 2, Doshin the Giant.

Check out the Terisphere games, if you haven't already, along with 1080 Snowboarding. Very technically impressive.

Dreamcast:

D2 (<3), Maken X, Metropolis Street Racer, Lack of Love, Rez, Cosmic Smash, Redline Racer, Karous, Under Defeat, Chaos Field, Border Down, Nijuuei, Evil Twin.

Yes, yes, and yes. Under Defeat is in the new podcast, although I think the track I play is only in the HD version... it's still Hosoe though, and it's amazing. Also, I just uploaded TrickStyle last week, which is really good.

Playstation 2:

Silent Hill series, Phantom Brave, Shadow of the Colossus, Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Kind of Blue, Flower Sun and Rain, 10 000 Bullets, Bully, Vexx, Shinobi, Armored Core: Nexus, Armored Core: Last Raven, Unlimited SaGa, Baroque, Eternal Poison, Ape Escape - Pumped & Primed, Outrun 2006, God Hand, Enthusia Professional Racing, Zone of Enders: The 2nd Runner.

Too many to mention on this system! I have to give some love to Katamari, though! And the Silent Hills... and Psyvariar, and... and.... *falls over*

Xbox:

Shin Megami Tensei: NINE (wonderful arrangements here), Otogi 1-2, Metal Wolf Chaos, Burnout 1, Dead or Alive 3.

Midtown Madness 3 is fantastic. I played both Otogi games, and what's there is pretty good, but I thought the soundtrack was way too ambient when it could have been a little more powerful. I know From Software likes their game dripping with atmosphere, though.

Gamecube:

Killer7, Lost Kingdoms 2, P.N. 03, Baten Kaitos.

All the Nintendo stuff on this system, I could listen to for days.

PS3 + X360 + Wii:

Shadow of the Damned, Fatal Frame IV, Deadly Premonition, Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label, Siren: Blood Curse, The Unfinished Swan, Pac Man Championship Edition DX, Demon's Souls, The Darkness, Folklore, Killer is Dead, Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon, Muramasa the Demon Blade, TLoU, Bug Princess 2, GT5, Lightning Returns (NOT a JOKE!), Lost in Shadow.

Deadly Premonition! What a wacky game. I loved every minute of it. The soundtrack was equally bizarre in parts. Lollipop Chainsaw's soundtrack was really good... again, too many to mention on the newer systems.

Different handhelds and smartphones:

Tintin and the Temple of the Sun, Bomberman Tournament (GBA), Project S-11, Racing Gear Advance, Ikari no Yousai 2, Megaman V, 999: Nine Doors Nine Hours Nine Persons, EDGE (iOS), Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Nihilumbra, Ridge Racer (PSP), Zero Escape: VLR.

Check out my Doctor Who Legacy (iOS/ Android) upload in a separate thread. It's got 3 great tunes by Chris Huelsbeck. I also ripped Ridge Racer Slipstream for iOS as well, and it's got music from past Ridge Racer composers, including Hosoe.

Japanese computers:

Operation Wolf (FM Towns), Mid-Garts (PC-88), Rusty (PC-98), Yu-No (PC-98), Snatcher (MSX-2), XZR II (PC-88), Cho Ren Sha (X68K), Starfire (PC-98).

All in agreement here! I'm betting you haven't downloaded Grounseed yet, because I think if you've listened to it, it would be on this list. It's so good. :)

PC:

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines, Golgotha (unreleased), Daikatana, Unreal Tournament '99, Scorcher, Neotokyo, Deus Ex, McGee's Alice, The Void, Cry of Fear, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Crusader: No Regret, Entropia Universe, Freedom Fighters, Paradise Cracked, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Beyond Good and Evil, Hotline Miami, Atlantis: The Lost Tales, Oni, Shadow Man, Sleeping Dogs, Anachronox, Quake, Auto Assault, Earth 2160, Sanitarium, Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3, Saya no Uta, Kara no Shoujo, Kikokugai: The Cyber Slayer.

I don't play too many PC games, but you know I loved Hotline Miami. Also, the Little Inferno soundtrack was great, and all the music in the Trackmania series. All of the Quakes were great too, especially Q2 and the bonus tracks that Front Line Assembly released for Q3: Arena.

That must've taken a long time to type out! It's given me a lot of new stuff to seek out, and some ideas for upcoming shows. You've got pretty good taste, there, sir. :)

I'll be back on a normal schedule on Wednesday, so I should be doing regular releases again soon. Thanks everyone, for being patient while I relaxed a bit this past 7 days!

Oh, so many good first party titles by Sega those days

Check out the Terisphere games, if you haven't already

Thx, i'll check. N64 is still the least appealing platform for me, i dont know. Anyway, Doshin the Giant's separate soundtrack CD is dat good. The game itself was on N64DD but later rereleased on GameCube.

It's on "to listen to" list

PC games

Well, there were many good exclusives, especially in ~1990-2005. Nowodays...mostly indie games.

And, btw, last three titles i mentioned are visual novels, with some heavenly awesome tracks:

13. SILENT SORROW [Saya no Uta] - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn8PHhJXERU)

Hi guys! Just a small treat this morning: Nintendo Power GB Flash Cart. It's just one Game Boy song, but it's a really nice one. If I had to guess at the composer, I'd say it was Kazumi Totaka. It's got that jazzy, elevator music feel that he's famous for. There arent' any song credits anywhere, though, so I can't officially label the song with his name. Anyways... I may have more this afternoon. I just wanted to drop in and say "Hi!"

Hey all! A few things of note this morning before I put some music up this afternoon:

VGManiac456 has done it again... he's helped tag some soundtracks! Newly name-ified are Panzer Dragoon on the Saturn, the recent Ninjawarriors on the Sega CD, and Mario Strikers - Charged on the Wii! Thanks, dude!

Now, I know Strikers seems to be incomplete, but I've looked at all of the music files available on the web, and I've explored the disc itself, and those are really all of the music files that are there. I have no idea where the rest of the music comes from, and why it seems to be hidden inside other files. If a more complete set presents itself to me, I'll certainly update the album. Right now, at least all of the level music is there, as well as the menu music. It just seems that the majority of the character fanfares are missing. Bizarre.

On an unrelated note, I'm not going to be able to do Gradius 4. The emulated music from M1 sounds awful... it's good quality, but the pitch of the lead synths is off by at least a semitone so it sounds strange and off-key. I took a look at the PS2 version of the game, which includes a streamed version of the music from G4, and I can't get it to run through the converter. It's very frustrating. If I can get it working somehow, I'll put it up.

Lastly, I'm starting to seriously consider a paid hosting site for my albums. Right now, I'm juggling two 50gb MEGA accounts, and they're both filling very quickly. For roughly $14 a month, or $140 for a year (the prices are in Euros), I can get 500 glorious gigabytes, which would allow me to do all those long soundtracks you've been asking for, like Shenmue and the Super Robot Wars series. Would any of you be interested in donating towards that goal? I would rather just save up for the yearly fee, as it's cheaper in the long run, and won't have to worry about a monthly bill. Let me know via PM or a comment, and I'll see if it's worth adding a donation button to the OP. Thanks!

Yo, Ruiner! I just made a thread (Thread 171922) for a few obscure Konami soundtracks that may interest you! Feel free to mirror 'em if you want! ;)

I totally overlooked this post a couple of days ago. I will definitely check them out tonight. They look great!

Now, onto (finally) some albums! Here's today's loot:

Genesis

Hellfire - Discovered this one totally by accident, by clicking on the wrong game on a Genesis emulator. What I got was a pretty cool shmup with a really awesome soundtrack! There's some great stereo effects and REALLY catchy melodies, especially on "Ready to Go," "Egypt," and "Last Dance." Definitely check this one out.

PlayStation

Rival Schools - United by Fate - This was a really popular fighter amongst my friends and GameStop coworkers back in the day. We loved the variety of characters and depth of play, and the eclectic songs with techno beats helped a lot, too!

NES

Friday the 13th - A super-early Dave Wise soundtrack. This was one of my first uploads, but it got lost somehow. Now it's back!

Baltron - A pretty awful shmup with some very boring tunes. At least there's on;y about 3 minutes of it, because the music stays the same regardless of which level you're playing.

SD Hero Soukessen - Taose! Aku no Gundam - One of the few Famicom titles written by the late, great Kenji Eno. The music is pretty awesome. Check this one out.

Great Battle Cyber - Another Banpresto licensed game. Decent soundtrack. No known composer, though.

Shuffle Fight - I could find even LESS info about this game. I guess Banpresto doesn't like to credit their staff very much. Oh well. Still, decent music.

Sadly, I can't do Okamiden because it's too long. :(

Enjoy, guys!

1. Space Hunter (Kemco)
2. Desert Commander (Kemco)
3. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Kemco)
4. Sanada Juu Yuushi (Kemco)
5. Indora no Hikari (Kemco)

5. Indora no Hikari (Kemco)

You're welcome! I really enjoyed those Banpresto soundtracks! I didn't even know Kenji Eno had done any Famicom games!

Here's what we have today in the ol' bag of MP3s:

PS2

He Man: Defender of Grayskull - Dude, I was SUCH a huge He Man fan back in the day. My brother and I had all the toys and we'd watch the cartoon every afternoon after school. Anyways, here's the soundtrack from the PS2 game based on it! It's mostly symphonic, with a little bit of synth and guitar thrown in.

Game Boy

Double Dragon - Not much was touched at all sound-wise when this game was ported from the NES to the Game Boy. It's hard at times to even tell the difference. But hey, why mess with it when the original was so good to begin with?

Speedy Gonzales - Some bouncy and happy original tunes mixed with some traditional and classical pieces. It's not bad.

Tiny Toons - Babs' Big Break - Very competent stuff, with a lean on swing music and cartoony craziness. It's Konami, so you have to expect audio quality.

Tiny Toons 2 - Montana's Movie Madness - REALLY good stuff. Takeshi Tateishi, of Mega Man 2 fame, worked on this one. There's some neat re-imaginings of the Tiny Toons theme, and a lot of other period-style songs that just work really well with the GameBoy hardware. Definitely the best of the bunch! Just as an aside: Tracks 1 through 7 are from the Japanese game, and 8 till the end are the American game. There's some variation throughout.

Also, I did put a donation link up, right above the downloads in the OP. I know $130 seems like a lot, but with the number of hits this thread gets a day, I think the goal might be achievable really quickly. I'd love to just be able to say "Yes!" to every soundtrack request, and also to be able to host some upcoming promo videos we have planned for PixelTunes. If anybody knows of a cheaper solution, or has a very fast file server with a few hundred gigabytes to spare, let me know! I'm open to different options!

Take care!

Here I am with another request! I was wondering if you can get the music for a PSP game called Gachitora? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t_2mSbtXEs) The game itself is pretty unique.... it's about a yakuza thug who becomes a school teacher (yeah, sorta like GTO), who solves his student's problems through "soul nude battles"..... which is what you see in the video I linked to. I've been searching for this game's soundtrack for a while, but with no success. So perhaps you can help, Ruiner? Thanks in advance! :)

HOLY MOLEY, what a soundtrack! These battle tracks are totally epic! Thanks for pointing this one out, MarvelB... this is gonna be a new favorite of mine. This style is exactly what I like! Go grab Gachitora! -Rowdy Teacher in High School- in the PSP section right now! BTW, I left the tracks named as they were on the UMD, because they at least notate if they're battle tracks, or event tracks etc. There's a rare OST floating around somewhere with song titles, but I don't have a way to match the names with the tracks.

Enjoy, guys!

Awesome, thank you! :) So Okamiden is too long? Does that mean there are too many songs? Thanks anyway. I'll keep on looking to see if anyone anywhere ripped it. The first Okami is the best game I've ever played and Okamiden, while not as good, is a lot of fun and has the same great Japanese soundtrack.

Because of hosting space limitations, I've decided not to do soundtracks that end up over 200mb, so space doesn't get taken up too quickly. There's about 280mb worth of music in that game. Hopefully, if I can purchase a bigger account, I'll have 500gb instead of just 100 and that kind of thing won't be a problem anymore.

Hey Ruiner, how bout another ps2 request? I hate to barge in here, I hope I haven't missed any important announcements regarding requests. It's a Japanese game called Mojib Ribbon. It has a great soundtrack!

Whew! Gathering up a lot of music this morning! Here's a couple notes:

Neo Contra has been re-uploaded. The link has changed, so just re-download from the OP and it should be fine now.

A few games, namely Drift Out '94, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, and Dragon Ball GT Transformation can't be ripped. I'm looking into Mojib Ribbon and Dragon Ball Tag Team to see what I can do about those, so there's a 50/50 shot right now. The rest shouldn't be a problem, unless they end up too big. :-0

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

If can't rip Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, and Dragon Ball GT Transformation can you rip:
Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 2 & 3 (PS2) and other my last request without Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, and Dragon Ball GT Transformation.
Enough for me already, I waiting for your nice rips :)

Well, it's a shame Drift Out '94 isn't rippable. I came across the music to it recently and enjoyed it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbdjZWx-rSg).

Since I only currently have one more soundtrack in my wishlist, could I substitute Drift Out with Pokemon Card GB2 - GR Dan Sanjou! for the GBC? It's the Japan-only sequel to the game based on the Pokemon trading card game. I played the first game when I was a kid and while the music in that one isn't too special, the sequel has some great tunes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPl-ns-yIUE&list=PL17EF82CAD220B2AC).

any reason why Drift Out '94 can't be ripped? I do notice that it isn't listed in the M1 game directory, but that doesn't exactly mean it's non playable.

Is there another way to rip the soundtrack without using M1? I'll give it a shot if it's possible! (That being said, I did look at the service menu in MAME and there wasn't a sound test in there.)

So, now, I have one more request for you, and then I'll lay off for a bit. Is it possible for you to rip Crash Team Racing? That way, we'd have all of the PS1 Crash games to listen to.

You guys are so lucky! New podcast and new awesome albums today! Here's the stuff I gots for ya (these are all Elwood's requests):

NES

Casino Kid - A small collection of lounge music. Groovy and fun.

Saturn

Cyber Doll - Very nice! There's some great action music here, some funky tunes, all with a futuristic sound and lots of sampled guitar work. This is cool, brah!

SNES

Chou Mahou Tairiku Wozz - Sounds very much like your traditional SNES RPG music on first listen. I really like "The Pinch!" and "Balam's Theme."

Genesis

King Colossus - Medieval style! This soundtrack reminds me of castles and not having a proper running toilet. But, hey! You can listen to it while sitting on a working toilet, so why worry! ;)

Japanese PC

Carat - Magical Block - Not a request, but part of my mission to discover new and awesome Japanese stuff. This one's got Hitoshi Sakimoto on it... soooo... yeah. Grab it. Full of solid and awesome music.

OK guys, enjoy all the stuff today! :)

Thanks for the uploads, ruiner. One correction though, I actually requested Casino Kid II (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viyBNY5D-5w). It's an early Kenji Eno work. The first Casino Kid isn't a bad soundtrack though, so it's good that it was uploaded.

Also I had one more request (I mentioned it a bit earlier, but you might have missed in the deluge of posts that popped up after FF Shrine came back up): Pokemon Card GB2 - GR Dan Sanjou! for the GBC. It's the Japan-only sequel to the game based on the Pokemon trading card game. It has some great tunes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPl-ns-yIUE&list=PL17EF82CAD220B2AC).

And I'm looking forward to listening to the new Pixel Tunes. Looks like a good playlist.

If I am allowed to make a request, can I ask for a rip of three Kirby games (Super Star Ultra and Nightmare in Dream Land)? I know that these two are remakes, but I haven't found any good quality rips for either of them. Let me know if it's possible!

UPDAAAATEEEEE TIIIIIIMMMMMEEEEE!!!!!!

Ahem. Update time:

NES

Casino Kid 2 - The sequel Elwood's been waiting for! Kenji Eno wrote this one, and like a lot of his other pieces, it's pretty unique. The percussion is really heavy, and probably my favorite part of the whole soundtrack.

GBA

Kirby - Nightmare in Dreamland - The title doesn't really make sense, now that I think about it. But, when you combine Shogo Sakai, Jun Ishikawa, and some friends on a Kirby soundtrack, what do you get? Bubbly awesomeness!

DS

Kirby Super Star Ultra - Pretty faithful renditions of the SNES soundtrack, with a few extras.

Game Boy

Pokemon Card GB 2 - GRdan Sanjou - So Pokemon's been all over the news today with word of some 3DS remakes. Hooray. :P Anyways, this soundtrack is pretty good if you pretend it's not a Pokemon game! LOL I'm just kidding... I mean, I don't like the Pokeymans, but I'm not gonna insult people who do. Much. Actually, the more I listen to it.... this soundtrack is pretty dang awesome. Hmmm.

N64

Mega Man 64 - What a bizarre music choice for a Mega Man game. Previous games had such awesome electronic and rock music... this is all cinematic and symphonic. I was kind of disappointed. Oh well. I mean, it's good if you're not expecting the usual Mega Man awesomeness!

Okey dokey guys, that's it for now. I'm gonna work on VGManiac456's tracklist fixes now. Peace!

I think the discrepancies with these soundtracks come from them being rather odd ducks within their respective series. The Pokemon Card games are only tangential to the series and the composer is a member of Hudson Soft who mainly worked on Bomberman and Mario Party games. Mega Man Legends is pretty far away from the other Mega Man games as far as gameplay style and the music is more fitting for the 3D explorer/adventurer vibe that game goes for.

I put up some SNES albums yesterday, but didn't have time to post about it. If you found them, good detective work! If not... here's what's new:

Death Brade - An intense soundtrack with huge percussion. I really like "Flying Bodies!"

Gekisou Sentai Car Rangers - Groovy rock tracks, in SNES form! Hiroyuki Iwatsuki was behind this one, so that explains the tight composition. Worth checking out.

Gousou Jinrai Densetsu Musya - A pretty laid-back collection of tunes. Even the battle music is kind of relaxing.

Syvalion - Hmm. Quite funky. Reminds me of Super EDF in a few places, especially "Boss Battle." I like it!

And on the TG16, Takeda Shingen, which is a short collection of tracks with an Asian flavor.

OK, there should be more today, unless work is totally crazy. See ya!

Boys and girls! Ladies and gentlemen! Children of all ages! Here's some stuff!

First off, check out the second video in the Ikari no Yousai review series my co-host Mike is doing. I've got a really big part as the bad guy in this one!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtBLDThskG8&list=UU2bSOJ9eRclCrP1giYFky2w

So, after watching me try and review a terrible Jaguar game, here's what's new today!

PS2

Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3 - Yeah, these are a bit big, but the music ROCKS. A really good mix of guitar rock and electronics. I'm not a DBZ fan, but I'll listen to these!

Arcade

Super Dodge Ball - One of the great things about the Neo Geo is its immense memory capacity. In a soundtrack like this, you can combine some great FM synth music with very high quality PCM samples and get a great sound. Another really awesome soundtrack!

NES

Super Robin Hood - Part of the Quattro Adventure cartridge. This music reminds me of Jonathan Dunn and David Whittaker's stuff. That's a good thing! Lots of arpeggios and cool rhythm sections. Not what I'd expect from an unlicensed cart!

Well, nicely done, Patrick1287. Some great finds. :) Enjoy the video and the music, everyone!

!

There are some things that I need to point out in regards to three of the soundtracks...

1. The arcade version of Death Brade (also called Mutant Fighter) is much better sounding, but I requested this version simply because a.) no one has ever posted this one before, and b.) it's another one of those rare soundtracks that I usually request, lol. XD

2. Gekisou Sentai Car Rangers is, essentially, the japanese version of Power Rangers Turbo (which those who've never played the game will be amazed to hear).

And 3. After hearing it, I am surprised that none of the tracks in the SNES version of Syvalion are from the arcade version. Oh well, at least it sounds great. :)

Have a great weekend, ruiner!! :D

Well, it's not a VACATION vacation. I just don't have to work, which means I'm not in my office all day making albums ;)

But I have a couple tonight!

Blast Corps for the N64 - This console was capable of some amazing music, like in this game. It's a shame a lot of other games sounded so generic and cheesy. I really enjoy the variations on different themes in this one, though.

Three Dirty Dwarves for the Saturn - Some really unique stuff here. Hip hop influences mixed with guitar solos and dance music. It's pretty fun stuff. Definitely matches the theme of game!

OK guys, until next time!

Well guys, it came a bit faster than I'd expected, but the truth is... I'm out of room. Just about all 100GB I have available are filled with musical goodies, and I just can't cram any more in. I'm on the hunt for a file server that will give me a lot of space, and store it all for free (or extremely cheap,) but I'm not having much luck. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. I'm shutting down requests for the forseeable future. I'm so sad about this, guys. :(

I already have two MEGA accounts. It's hard enough to juggle those two! That, and they fact that MEGA is one of the only hosts right now that don't throw a million pop-up ads at you every time you want to download something. I'm still going to update the thread with new podcasts (I'm definitely not stopping those) and I may try to cram in a few more soundtracks into the teeny space I have left. I just wish hosting wasn't so expensive. The wife would kill me if I added another monthly bill to the home budget LOL ;)

And so nobody thinks I'm lying and just quitting (this is one account, the other is 95% full):

If you really wanted to, you could add up all of the file sizes in the OP and know I'm being truthful anyways!

OK, we're not done yet! Thanks to VGManiac456, there's still more soundtracks to title and re-order. So, I've just corrected both Spectrobes games for the DS with composers, titles, and order.

There are a few more, but the MEGA account that holds my PSX and GCN titles won't let me in because it's way over capacity. Hopefully I can get in soon and fix those up.

Change Radikal Bikers to Resident Evil Gaiden because RB its only on PSX and Arcade ;/

Not that it matters immediately, given Ruiner's current situation, but this is only partially true. The GBC version of Radikal Bikers was never officially completed/released, but there is a prototype rom of it floating around. And it's not like Ruiner hasn't uploaded soundtracks to unreleased/unofficial games before (I should know, I requested a couple).

EDIT:
For what it's worth, I wish I could contribute some cash, but I'm flat broke at the moment.

No worries, man. I'm not exactly rich either! Also, wasn't Resident Evil Gaiden unreleased, too? (EDIT: Nope, I was thinking of the unreleased RE1 remake on GBC) I've actually been in touch with Alberto Jose Gonzalez... I'll see if he's got the Radikal Bikers GB soundtrack lying around, maybe I'll put it up on Dropbox temporarily, seeing as how it's rare and really awesome.

Now that I think of it, to keep the thread alive, I could put a few new soundtracks up on Dropbox at a time, and cycle them out weekly or something. I'll see what I can do. No promises, though!

Because Mojib Ribbon's music is part of the gameplay, the tracks are broken up into code within the game. There's no way that I can see to get it out. I've never played it, but I really liked Vib Ribbon when I was younger.

OK, I've moved some stuff around, cleaned up some trash, pulled a few strings... and now I have some space left in one of my accounts. So I'm going to take care of the rest of the requests that are open, but only for the following systems:

3DO, Arcade (includes Neo Geo), DC, GB (or GBC), GBA, Genesis, N64, NDS, Japanese Computers (PC-98, MSX, etc.), TG16/ PCE-CD, PS2, PSP, and Saturn.

Notably absent are SNES, NES, PSX, Wii, GameCube, and a few extras, but they're in the other account and if I start putting things in two places, I'm gonna get very disorganized very quickly. It seems most of the requests are GBC and some arcade games, so I shouldn't have an issue with those.

The collection lives on! (For now LOL)

I never thought I'd be saying this so soon, but... UPDATES!!!!!

Just two this morning:

Das Geheimnis der Happy Hippo-Insel for the Game Boy - Don't let the sillt German title about hippos fool you... this soundtrack is AWESOME. I'm not sure how I've never heard of Stello Doussis before, but his music is extraordinary. If you're not familiar, definitely check this one out!

Crime City from the arcade machine - This one has a similar tone to FInal Fight, I think. Kind of jazzy, but aggressive in a way. The composer is a mystery, which is odd for a Taito game.

OK, still more to come! I've got a busy day today, but I might have time for a few tonight.

I have only 1 request, but they are the same game for both the PC8801 and the TG16-

The game is Veigues- Tactical Gladiator. It was originally a 1988 PC-8801 game made by Game Arts, the same company that made Thexder and Lunar: The Silver Star. 2 years later in 1990, it was released for the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16. I do not know which version had the best music in terms of quality and "grit" to its music, since both the PC Engine and PC8801 versions had gritty music, but I would have to go with the original PC-8801 version. Can you upload the soundtrack to the PC8801 version or either the TG16 Version?

Two updates today!

Double Dragon II for the Game Boy - Kazuo Sawa wrote a different soundtrack for this one, as opposed to just porting it from the NES version like was done with the first DD game. Sawa's stuff is always good, and this is no exception.

Guerilla War on the arcade - Really nice tunes, considering it's played on the very old (and super rough sounding) OPL chip. Kind of jazz/ 50's inspired.

Enjoy!

Funny thing, I've played this game before and it's actually not a port of Double Dragon II for the NES/Arcade. In fact it's not actually a Double Dragon game at all, it's one of the Kunio-kun games (River City Ransom and the like), hence why Sawa did the soundtrack. They just changed the music and graphics for International releases, kinda like how the Final Fantasy games for the original Gameboy aren't actually part of the Final Fantasy series. Apparently the Japanese version of the game (Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Bangai Rantō Hen) has a completely different soundtrack also done by Sawa.

ruiner9

That's really cool! I love River City Ransom and the other Kunio-Kun games that were released in the states, so I'll have to check this out.

ruiner9
05-19-2014, 05:48 PM
So, I played both Double Dragon 2 and Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Bangai Rantō Hen on the Game Boy last night, and you're right... they're very similar. I wouldn't go as far to say as they're just sprite-swaps, as the levels, cinematics, sprites, and music are all different, but it's definitely the same (solid) fighting engine. There's even an English translation available for the Kunio-Kun game!

Now, onto the updates! More Game Boy love today!

Mario's Picross - Some fun tracks, with a really thick square-wave bass. Also, cool stereo effects. It always gets me mad when Game Boy soundtracks aren't in stereo. You have two channels! Use them! This actually reminds me a bit of Hirokazu Tanaka's works.

Metal Gear Solid - Ooooh, so espionage-y. This could double as a retro soundtrack to that "24" TV show. Konami's Game Boy sound engine never fails, so this one sounds great.

Mission: Impossible - Ramiro Vaca, a C64 veteran, made the stealthy chiptunes for this one. Quite good. Tons of arpeggios. Arpeggios EVERYWHERE.

Resident Evil Gaiden - Mediocre at best. At worst, it's pretty awful. Lots of variations on the same theme, and simplistic melodies. You may like it. I dunno.

Toki Tori - Chris Hampton wrote this one. Another western composer = lots more arpeggios! These are fun to listen to. He doesn't have the skill that Gonzolez or Follin do, but it's pretty good nonetheless.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - Not bad! Very urban, reminds me of the Skate or Die! soundtracks a bit! I was surprised they went with Japanese composers on this one, even though it was Natsume that did the port, but it seems to have worked out pretty well.

Wacky Races - Whoa. Arpeggio city. OK, this one's a bit more engaging than Toki Tori. Fun tunes, some nice percussion, and some lengthy melodies. Good stuff!

And that completes your Game Boy adventure for the day. Only two more soundtracks left... I may have them up by the end of the day. We shall see!

ruiner9

Arcade soundtracks? Arcade soundtracks.

Rollergames - A Konami arcade game featuring a bunch of athletes on roller skates trying to beat each other up and skate around a track. The music sounds like it was a practice soundtrack for the upcoming TMNT and Sunset Riders games... although there's no credit available for the music in the game, I'd be willing to bet that it shares a composer with at least one of those titles.

Thunder Fox - The original version of the Genesis soundtrack. Uses slightly less polished synths, but a nicer percussion section with sampled cymbal crashes, so it's got it's pros and cons.

Hope you like 'em!

Hooray! New stuff!

Game Boy

Atlantis: The Lost Empire - A Jake Kaufman soundtrack with a playful atmosphere. Very modern chiptuney, which is totally his style.

Batman: The Animated Series - I love seeing how the Konami Batman soundtracks differ from the Sunsoft one. Konami versions like this are always much darker and cinematic sounding.

Die Maus - An Alberto Jose Gonzalez album which is a bit more simple than his others. Catchy melodies, but definitely on the kiddie side.

Hugo 2 - Another Gonzalez game with catchy tunes and a lot of cool rhythm sections.

Mobile Golf - Motoi Sakuraba lent his talents to this one. Fun Japanese style tunes!

PC-88

Tactical Gladiator Veigues - Not the greatest PC-XX soundtrack ever, but has some cool moments. Worth checking out if you like music from this system.

And that... is that! Enjoy!

Oh, OK. Sorry, if I misjudged you. Yeah, I don't think it was the best- I just wanted to hear what the PC-88 version was like in terms of sound, and well, it is more gritty, but unfortunately, it wasn't one of Game Arts's best games. I wish it was however, because the robot in that game, as well as Thexder are cool.

R-Type Leo (Arcade) - very relaxing and chilly

Elemental Master (Genesis) - from Thunder Force authors
Elemental Master - Stage 3 [Genesis] Music - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaFw0np_P8A)

PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient (PSP) - nice electronica; but i m not sure how many tracks it has. There also was a sequel
[PSP Gameplay] PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aar2-72ygWQ)

Rengoku (PSP) - while the game was a bit primitive and resembled low budget mobile game more, looked like creators put a heart. Music is mostly breakbeat, but some melodic things too.

Pulstar (NEO-GEO AES) - everyone loves CD arrangement but i prefer original.

Hi guys! I know my posts have been a bit slow lately, but it's because things get super busy for me at the end of the school year at work. So, with that said, here's three awesome releases:

Mario Golf for the N64 - Motoi Sakuraba created a soothing, Mushroom Kingdom-inspired atmosphere to whack balls around in. It's a big soundtrack with lots of great tracks!

R-Type Leo - A super fun arcade shmup with lots of great dance tracks.

Keitai Denjuu Telefang for the Game Boy - An hour of great music from PixelTunes favorite Kinuyo Yamashita! She's written an hour's worth of awesome stuff here.

OK, everyone, put those Game Boys pack in your pocket (like they EVER fit in your pocket anyways) and stick out your ears, to catch a lovely drift of NEWWWW STUFFFFFFF! Here it is, y'all!

First, on the PSP, PQ and Rengoku - Tower of Purgatory. A couple of really awesome soundtracks. Both are dance/ electronic, but PQ is a little more trance, while Rengoku is like, heavy and just shy of crazy dubstep. Recommended!

Next, on the Genesis: Elemental Master. Not sure why I didn't know about this one, but it rocks. SOme of the best Japanese Genesis music I've heard in a long time. Some really epic adventuring music that almost reminds me of the Ys series in parts!

Arcade shooters! Dogyuun is a Taoplan game with some older sounding FM synth, but some cool melodies, and Harumi Fujita's Pulstar soundtrack is totally worthwhile, even in mono!

Lastly, TG16/ PC Engine! 1941 and 1943 Kai are sorely missing from this collection, so I'm adding them as my own request. 1943 Kai is especially awesome, with composers like Junko Tamiya (Bionic Commando) and the previously mentioned Harumi Fujita contributing some tracks. The game is a really awesome version of the arcade game too... I think it's even better. I'm fortunate enough to have a PC Engine, and the game, and I was reliving it today. I totally forgot how amazing it was for it's time.

Anyways, I'm rambling and you want to hear cool music. So, get to downloading! Also, there's a bunch of Game Boy titles that were requested a long time ago that are done, but sitting on my work computer. I'll be uploading those tomorrow, and then checking out KingTengu's requests, and retagging some soundtracks. Enjoy!

Thanks, Ed! You made my day!

Now i don't think i need anything else at the moment, except..
...remember, i named you Ninja Assault (Sega Naomi arcade rail shooter) - you brought to me Confidential Mission, Le Mans 24 etc. but i didn't question what was the deal with NnjAsslt. Guess it was not rippable or smth. Now, i ve learned that there was a PS2 port of it.

NINJA ASSAULT - (NTSC-J) (http://ks23364.kimsufi.com/psxdata/databasepsx/psx2/games2/J/N/SCPS-51014.html)

Please, could you check when you ll have free time, then? If you'll not like music itself you could refuse, that would be honest.

I checked into both the Naomi and PS2 ports, and couldn't get the music out of either one. It sucks, because what I heard from the YouTube videos was really good! I thought I mentioned it in a post, but I guess I forgot. Sorry about that!

I do have some goodies today, though... Those Game Boy games I mentioned last night. Here they are!

Tomb Raider - So is it me, or does track 3 sound like somebody is messing with an NES Game Genie over a dubstep beat? HAHA! This is a pretty good soundtrack, but a bit slow. I guess that's OK, becuase the game was really slow, too.

WWF Superstars - Time to listen to Dave Wise perform sloppy renditions of old wrestling entry themes! It... doesn't work out that well.

WWF Warzone - Time to listen to Tim Follin perform (slightly less) sloppy renditions of wrestling themes! There's less than 5 minutes of music here, and as Follin's works go, it's toward the bottom of the list. I don't think he was super-excited about working on this title. :P

X-Men Mutant Wars - I was surprised to see that Kazuo Sawa did the music for this. I always thought, by looks and gameplay, that this was an American or European designed game. Listening to the soundtrack now, though... I can here some similarities to Kunio-Kun here and there.

Yakuman - An early Game Boy title from Hirokazu Tanaka with a traditional Japanese sound.

OK, then! There ya go! I'll have a couple retagged albums ready later today. Also, here's a podcast question: The next episode (all my picks!) is already in post-production, but our next one is going to be a Game Boy spotlight. What are some specific tracks you guys would like to hear us play/ talk about? If you can link me a YT video, that would be cool.. If not, then the game name and track # if I've already ripped it would work, too.

I'll pick at least one suggested track as part of my 5 picks for the show! (Also, please suggest no more than 2 tracks, a list of 20 from everybody will be overwhelming!)

Oh, ok, np. (and no hope -__- )

What are some specific tracks

GameBoy/GBC, i suppose? GBA is another case

Project S-11 #09 (4 min 15 s)
Turok - Rage Wars #06 (1 min 28 s)

and I'm sure you'll pick Mega Man V, haha (joke)

ruiner9

There's a very good chance Mike will pick a Mega Man V track, so I'm staying away from that. Project S-11 was already in the list anyways, so good suggestion there. I was also planning on a Gonzalez tune, so Turok is an excellent suggestion. Everybody knows he did Smurfs Nightmare!

The Ninjawarriors for the Sega CD. Check it out. It's really good! Otherwise, just about everything from Taito has SOME relation to Zuntata... it was like a big revolving door of composers. But, the original Zuntata live band actually performed the Ninjawarriors soundtrack live on stage a few times! Check it out:

Burai Fighter Deluxe
Human Wrestling
Batman - Return of the Joker

Sorry I don't have time for mini-reviews... been cleaning the house all day!

I LOVE the new Rainbow Road 64 tune! We were all talking last night about how great the game was, from visuals to gameplay to sound. Except Battle Mode. To copy a line from Angry Video Game Nerd, "What were they THINKING?!" :) I noticed Kenta Nagata's name in the credits after we had gone through the 8 circuits. Glad to see he's still heading up MK's sound direction!

Now, on to the updates! Thanks in large part to KingTengu, who provided all of the info for this! Gunforce 2 (arcade) has been updated with the missing level 1 track, and is now tagged, along with Human Wrestling and Batman the Animated Series for the Game Boy, and Takeda Shingen on the TG-16/ PCE.

Have a great Sunday! I'll be back tomorrow with more requests. The stuff I've been doing has been relatively small, so we still have a bit of room left to fill. :)

I have only one request- It is a KONAMI soundtrack composed and developed by the people originally from the Nagoya division of Konami Computer Entertainment, before all of its Japanese divisions merged to become one single, solitary entity-

It is an RPG for the Game Boy called "God Medicine". It was originally released on the Game Boy in 1993, but re-released for the Game Boy Color in 1998.

Well, I couldn't figure out WHY Rengoku's sound files had a few minutes of silence at the end of each track, but I CAN tell you that it's been fixed. Saved a whole 40mb of space on the filesize, too! Just re download from the OP and it'll be nice and listenable again. I went through all the tracks and sampled them the first time to make sure they were working, but I never went all the way to the end, so I guess that's why I didn't catch it!

I've tried to do that one before. I can get the music files, but it ends up being just the first 5 seconds of each song repeated over and over again. It must have some sort of weird encoding. I'll work on that one, too.

How about Neo Geo's Sengoku 1 (and maybe Sengoku 2)? Ignore Sengoku 3, it has mediocre music, u already uploaded Gaia Crusaders instead (S3 and GC made by Noise Factory, S1-2 were SNK's)

I love that bizzarre atmosphere, and maybe Sengoku 1's closest vgm equal is Otogi dilogy.

I also hate Sengoku 3's gameplay while everyone keep praising it. In my opinion, Sengoku 2 has best gameplay and artwork, and Sengoku 1 has best music/sound and atmosphere. And S3 has mediocre style of gfx and bland environments.

I would love the soundtrack to the Nintendo DS game Magical Starsign. That one was developed by another sister company of Nintendo- Brownie Brown Co. Ltd. and was composed by my all time favorite game composer, Tsukasa Masuko.

I also have one more request- the SNES RPG known as "Light Fantasy".
It was composed by Michiharu Hasuya, Osamu Kasai, and Tsuruchan and was developed for Tonkin House by Advance Communication Co. Ltd.

This is the only known footage of the game in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc7C9ANod1Y

The sequel to it was even better, but unfortunately, the SPC files have been ripped, but they are not tagged or timed like Light Fantasy was.

Hola muchachos! It's Saturday, and it's time for updates. Peer into my bag of treats and see what I've got:

Game Boy

Battletoads - It's Dave Wise, so yeah. Enough said. Ripped this one cuz Mike picked a track from it for the next 'cast.

Ninja Gaiden Shadow - Same deal, Mike wanted it, so I pass the quality ninja tunes onto you! I like the music in this game (some of it is straight out of NG2) but the game isn't that great.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - It's so odd that Japanese composers worked on this. I think THPS, and I think American rock. Oh well, it's still pretty jammin'!

God Medicine - This one reminds me of Zelda a little bit in parts, and other times like good ol' Konami music. All around, pretty good RPG tunes!

Rhino Rumble - A really awesome and very unknown soundtrack by Jeroen Tel. Lots of arpeggios!

PC-88

The Scheme (OPNA) - Ever heard of this? If you haven't, you're in for a treat. There's none other than Yuzo Koshiro at the keyboards on this one, and it's a great soundtrack in the vein of the Ys series. If you like it, let me know and I'll do the OPN version, too. :)

DS

Touch de Zuno! - This is 90% streamed audio, so if you're not a fan of the MIDI-ish stuff usually on the DS, don't worry about that. It's mostly inspired by 50's rock and swing, making it a very unique soundtrack. Takenobu Mitsuyoshi doesn't sing in this one! (At least from the tracks I sampled.) Hooray for that! ;)

Genesis

Light Crusader - Totally awesome RPG soundtrack with huge percussion and great melodies. A must-listen.

Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters - If you like the western-themed tunes from TMNT: Hyperstone Heist, you'll dig this. It makes a LOT of use of the PSG sampler, so the songs sound pretty advanced for the ol' YM2612. I really like this soundtrack!

Alrighty, friends! Recording the new podcast tomorrow, and Knivesman's suggestion from Turok is on the list! It's a shame no one had any other suggestions. :(

Enjoy all the musics!

5. Amazing Tatar (Atlus)(Gameboy)

There's a very chilled-out selection in the PSP area today... a request from Panzo called Puzzle Guzzle. It's really groovy and relaxing. I think I'm gonna use as background music for this upcoming 'cast. I cannot for the life of me find a composer for it, though! Can anyone help me out with that? I'd love to hear more from the person/ team who made this one!

Do you guys like waves? Do you like running? Well then, you'll LOVE Wave Runner! It's a Sega-developed Model 2 arcade game where you sit on a jet ski and go over jumps and stuff. The music is cool mix of rock and dance, and my buddy Scott (from the racing game episode) requested it. I figured I'd post it up here too, since it's really good.

So, below, here's what I though about Nintendo's E3 show... it's in spoilers in case somebody's gonna watch it later!

Mii characters in Super Smash Bros U - Uh, yes! Looks amazing.

Yoshi's Woolly World - Neat! I like that there's multiplayer. Plus, you can poop out your friends and throw them.

Captain Toad - I loved his mini games in Mario 3D World, so this should be a blast.

Zelda - Whoa. AMAZING. I can't wait for this one.

Bayonetta 2 - Eh, terrible voice acting, but the addition of Nintendo characters is interesting.

Hyrule Warriors - A mix of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors? Oh heck yes. I'm a big fan of Koei's DW series, so this is a match made in heaven.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Looks decent from the little bit that we saw, lots of cool transforms

Xenoblade - Looks good, but I'm not really and RPG guy.

Mario Maker - YESSSS THIS IS SO AWESOME

Splatoon - Online-only shooter? Interesting with the color stuff and the squids, but I'm not sure how much I'd actually play it.

So, what did you guys think?

Mii characters in Super Smash Bros U - well, i was more amazed by using Mario toys as "memory cards" for game profiles etc.
Yoshi's Woolly World - i really liked developers. So cute guys.
Splatoon - and for me, it's my fav from nintendo e3. Looks like ultimate fun. U can even dive into splashes etc. But that's because i like multiplayer.
And now, we have a disappointment. Nintendo even didnt include him. "Devil's Third" from creator of King of Slashers (im not speaking about DMC3, hope u gues which king i mean)...looks like some generic game which doesnt really have it's own style.

I wasn't too interested in the other two. because I knew it would be more of the same old stuff. I WAS happy to see that Sony had some focus on indie titles, and Little Big Planet 3 was a cool surprise. Microsoft is just shoveling the same multiplayer FPS and TPS except with prettier graphics. Of the big three, I'd say it was Nintendo first, Sony second, and MSFT a distant third place. For new non-Nintendo games, it seems the place to go for titles that suit my tastes is Steam.

I'm not much of a fan of Nintendo and I am sick and tired of them trying to be better than everyone else with their E3's. That is why I don't watch E3 anymore, mainly because everyone wants the kind of games I don't like and wants more "Mamma Mia Mario" games and other franchises that I don't like made by Nintendo. I see. Ok, my 2 cents:

Xbox One has DDDD from Deadly Premonition's author... I really LOVE Deadly Premonition (awesome Twin Peaks homage game), but i m not really interested in D4 as it's some Kinect adventure. By the way, you remember Kenji Eno's D2 for Dreamcast and it's beautiful music? Hope you do. Then, some dinosaur/hydra game from Bayonetta's authors... I dunno. What i really like though, it's that platformer in style of early Disney, and it's on Steam too.
Cuphead E3 2014 Trailer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jDZfREYppk)
And i also am afraid that Silent Hill Homecoming / Killer Instinct '13 will spoile remake of OG Xbox's Phantom Dust. That was a really unique game.

As for Sony... First, i was surprised that Goichi Suda turned his new slasher into some kind of multiplayer Manhunt. While i'm big fan of Suda... I'm fan of his EARLY works like Killer 7 and Flower Sun and Rain (and Masafumi Takada's music as well) which are less GORE more SURREAL. Still, looks like Akira Yamaoka recorded some heavy metal for it. Also, Suda, give me back this cutie!

Then, From Software's Project Beast. I m not sure, maybe it's TOO dark/grim for me. Wish they remade Shadow Tower Abyss or made new Otogi.
I'm also disappointed that no new announcements for Vita except some multiplatform. Well, guess i should wait for TGS'14 then. They didn't even brought Oreshika 2 to E3! Oreshika is a sequel to PS1's jRPG which was also remade for PSP. Has some Okami-style graphics and nice designs. Check:

I see. Ok, my 2 cents:

[spoiler]
Xbox One has DDDD from Deadly Premonition's author... I really LOVE Deadly Premonition (awesome Twin Peaks homage game), but i m not really interested in D4 as it's some Kinect adventure. By the way, you remember Kenji Eno's D2 for Dreamcast and it's beautiful music? Hope you do.

Deadly Premonition was amazing. I'm actually watching Twin Peaks on Netflix right now because I love picking out the similarities! I have both the Xbox360 and PS3 versions of the game. So, I'm very excited for D4 because of Swery's involvement in it. Maybe I'll just watch a Longplay on YouTube if I don't get an Xbox One! :)

Here's the stuff I have today!

DS

Magical Starsign - A nice DS adventure title. The music can be a little repetitive and MIDI-sounding in places, but overall, it has some really good pieces in it.

Game Boy

Amazing Tater - A fun soundtrack with nice square wave bass. The tunes are pretty fast and enjoyable.

Sneaky Snakes - A Dave Wise soundtrack with some 50's rock influence, and lots of blues progressions. Neat stereo effects, too!

Tootuff - Allister Brimble used to write music for demoscene stuff, so this one's got lots of arpeggios and laser-like synth leads. Excellent tracks here!

Ultimate Fighting Championship - This one's pretty heavy. The bass is so strong, it creates kind of a "wall of sound" effect. I'm not sure if it's emulated poorly, or if that's how it's supposed to sound.

V-Rally - Championship Edition - It's Gonzalez. That should be enough to get you to download it. :)

Well, that's quite a selection! Lots of good stuff today!

Evolution01, I can't do your SNES request because I'm taking requests for that system right now. Read back a bit to see which ones I can't do, because that MEGA account is filled up.

Enjoy the tunes!

OK, so Giga Wing isn't that easy to rip in the arcade format, but it DOES have a really good Dreamcast soundtrack (remastered and everything!) so you can find that in the DC section now!

Hey, ruiner! How goes it? I have five new requests for you to make another return from a short absense (is that how it's spelled, lol :P ). Here they are:

- Burai Fighter (Nintendo)
- Illusion City (PC-88. I know that the MSX version is there, but I'm curious as to how the PC-88 version is like. Also, the tracks are the same, but have slight differences than the MSX version)
- Ninja Ryukenden (PC Engine)
- R-Type (PC Engine)
- Samurai Ghost (PC Engine)

Have a good day, ruiner!! :D

Anyways, I just wanna say how awesome Salamander 2 is! It has a lot of similarities to the Gradius soundtracks, and uses Konami's GX sound system, which kicks a lot of audio butt. Go grab it in the arcade section. it's totally worth it!

What did you use to attempt the rip? I'm playing it in M1 and it sounds... not bad. Not perfect, but passable. Everyone has their own level of perfection though. If you're using M1 too, then that's probably the best you can get, as there's no other way to get the soundtrack without using the original arcade cabinet. If you want me to do it, let me know, cuz there aren't many tracks in the game so it should be easy.

I used M1 myself as well, but for some reason the music came out rather.... static-y for me. Not sure why, but it just did. Either the rom I used was faulty, or I need to fiddle with M1's settings more (I'm definitely leaning towards the former, though..... after all, the rip I did for S.P.Y.: Special Project Y came out just about perfect, heh).

But yeah, if you can get a good rip for me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! :)

Guys! Guys! Remember way back when someone requested the Mother 3 GBA soundtrack and I pointed them to a place where somebody had ripped it using this program that turned it all into high-quality MIDI data, and it made it sound better than it did coming from the actual hardware? Well, I figured out how the program works, and it's AMAZING! I've ripped and tagged two of my fave GBA soundtracks, so far: Ninja Five-O and Hitoshi Sakimoto's amazing Pinball of the Dead. Seriously, they sound SOOOOO good. You should go download them right NOW. LOL

The program only works with GBA roms that use a particular sound engine called "Sappy." Fortunately, the majority of the games out there use this sound engine, with a few notable exceptions like the Donkey Kong Country series. :(

So, being as how I'm not really familiar with a lot of GBA soundtracks, I'd like some suggestions for what to try to rip. Bear in mind, these will be SUGGESTIONS. Sometimes this program makes the songs sound really bad, or use wrong instruments, and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Also, nothing will be tagged because the program just outputs "song001" to "song999," so I may need some help labeling things after the fact. So, shoot me some titles and I'll let you know what I can do! :)

GBA suggestions, huh? Well, if the DKC trilogy is out, then is perhaps DK: King of Swing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRFYqVtTzZw) fair game? It may not be as great as Wise's work, but it's still pretty good, if you ask me. ;)

I just listened to your touch de zuno rip, I noticed the vocals were missing from most of the songs. I'm guessing sega seperated the bgm and vocals into different files?

If you start the game you'll hear Mitusyoshi sing the intro. Sega did release a cd soundtrack for this game, it should have Mitsuyoshi's vocals + bgm on all tracks.

Thank you for the rip!

No problem! I can only assume the vocals are saved as sound effects, so they don't come through with the music sequence rip. At least they're on the OST already!

The GBA madness continues! Up for grabs is Megaman & Bass, the enhanced version of the original Super Famicom title, and a brand-new high quality version of Gradius Galaxies! Pssh, just kidding! Here's the requests I can do, anyways. I don't have room for NES anymore, and Illusion City isn't available to convert in it's PC-88 format. But the TG16 stuff is fair game!

Ninja Ryukenden - This is secretly Ninja Gaiden in disguise. It has some of the most pleasant music I've heard on the TG16. Very easy on the ears!

R-Type - Ah, the old classic in one of it's original forms. We all know this soundtrack, right? I still love Hiya's SNES version the best, but this sounds really good too.

Samurai-Ghost - Some pretty intense tunes, mixed with some fun Asiatic themes. This one is new to me, and it's surprisingly good!

OK guys, I'll work on some GBA titles over the weekend. I may need some help tagging them, so if anyone's familiar with the games and wants to help, it would be appreciated!

I particularly love IREM's music and sound driver that Yasuhiro Kawakami, Takushi Hiyamuta, Hiroshi Kimura, Rikei Hirashima, and Ikuko Mimori used on the Super Famicom. If only IREM made more games on that system. in fact, I feel that IREM shouldn't have gone bankrupt, because that way, they would've had the Metal Slug series.
