Hi ruiner! Can I make a little request? Would it be possible to do The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures for the Gamecube? Just a little thing, could it be the japanese version of the game?

It has a minigame called "Tetra's Trackers" which never came out of Japan and has some AWESOME songs. I know it because I already have a rip of it, but it's not good at all... Maybe you can do justice to FSA's songs!

Oh yeah, and just out of curiosity, is there any reason you don't do 320 kbps mp3's?

Thanks in advance, as always. :)

I'll see what I can do!

As far as the MP3 quality thing is concerned, the only way you're ever going to notice a difference in audio quality between VBR 0 and 320kbps is if your source material was better than CD quality (48khz) and you were listening to it on an extremely high-end stereo system. Because about 85% of my collection is lower than that (most streamed audio is 22khz or 32khz from the source,) the difference would be nll and the filesize per song could be as much as 3 times greater. The 1% increase in quality isn't worth the expansive increase in size/ download time. Not to mention that I also use some EQ and level tweaks to enhance the sound, too.

I've gotten compliments over and over again like "Your stuff sounds awesome!" and "This is the best quality rip of this game I've ever seen!" so I figure, if it's not broken, why try to fix it? :)

Yup, those songs, with gems like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUUZQDiWwUU :)

Not specifically the ones from Tetra's Trackers but all of the songs of the game itself though. Just wanted to clarify that other non-japanese versions of the game might not include the whole soundtrack.

This to be precise, but with your magic of course!: https://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0729759F56387D97

Here's a weird mashup of stuff today!

Ready 2 Rumble (PSX) - It seems there's only 3 audio tracks in this game, and they're all versions of the same song, and one of them is a video sequence... so uh, here it is!

Gauntlet - Dark Legend (GC) - I don't even know where to begin. First of all, there's FIVE FREAKING HOURS of music in this game. Why? I don't know! So to fit all the music in, the majority of it is super-low quality and hard to listen to. Also, that means the album is like 700mb. You're probably better off going to Music and SFX from Gauntlet: Dark Legacy - Joe Lyford, Composer (http://www.lyfordaudio.com/gdl.html) and downloading the better-quality tracks from the composer himself.

Knights of the Round - Capcom stalwart Isao Abe wrote a soundtrack that's not typical of the medieval setting that the game takes place in. It's very Capcom, and very good. If you like the Final Fight and Street Fighter II soundtracks, check it out for sure.

Tintin - Prisoners of the Sun (GB) - ALBERTO GONZALEZ! JUST SHUT UP AND GET IT!

Tintin in Tibet (GB) - MORE GONZALEZ! YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO

Anyways, that's it for now! Enjoy!

Thanks a lot for the upload! There's also a sequel, Ready 2 Rumble: Round Two, if you're interested in taking a look at that.

And yeah, the music is reused, but it's groovy, upbeat, and energetic.

Here's a bunch of loooong soundtracks!

Diddy Kong Racing DS - Dave Wise's N64 soundtrack was enhanced and lengthened for the DS version of the game.

Star Fox Command (DS) - Mostly symphonic, but there are hints of music from all over the world in this soundtrack. Pretty neat!

The Legend of Zelda - Four Swords Adventures (GC) - I did as good as I could. There are only 46 pieces of music in the game that can be digitally ripped... the rest must have been sequenced and recorded in-game. At least some of the Tetra music is in here, if not all, and in good quality!

That's it for now!

After a weekly absence, I have returned with a PC Engine themed (except one) VGM requests!!

- Darius/Sagaia (Game Boy; not sure if anyone has requested this, so I am doing so now)
- Dead Moon (PC Engine; has some really good tunes)
- F1 Triple Battle (PC Engine; composed by one of the composers of Fire Prowrestling 2nd Bout)
- Psychosis (PC Engine; whoever composed this had composed some brilliant tunes for this game)
- Side Arm Special-Standard (PC Engine CD; has some excellent redbook quality songs. This version has two modes: Standard and Before Christ. Not sure how different it is t the regular PC Engine)

I hope to be around this topic still and support it. :)

So, I was looking at Patrick 1287's requests:

Wario Ware (GC) has already been requested, I can't rip that one.

Matt Hoffman BMX 1 and 2 have licensed music so I can't rip those.

Nemesis for the Game Boy was already in the collection.

Double Dragon II (Arcade) is the only new one that could be done! Actually, it's really good, too.

Also, VGManiac456 ordered and tagged Croc - Legend of the Gobbos (PSX) and tagged Diddy Kong Racing DS :) Thank you for that!

Ready 2 Rumble - Round 2 (PSX) is also new in the collection. This one has at least a couple more tracks than the previous title, but the sound quality is still very bad. Oh well.

Enjoy! :)

Here's a few early morning (for me anyways) goodies!

Terranigma (SNES) - A very competently composed RPG. I actually really like this one, and I don't care for most RPG soundtracks!

Aladdin (SNES & Genesis) - Both versions of the 16-bit Aladdin adaptions are up. Composed by two very different sets of people, they each have their own unique takes on the movie's tunes, plus their own original songs. I think Tommy Tallarico's Genesis OST come out on top, though.

Hyper Dyne Side Arms Special - (PC Engine CD) - Some early CD games were so silly sounding. I appreciate what they were trying to do with Tatashi Tateishi's awesome soundtrack on this one, but it just sounds so.... MIDI. Anyways, it's a nice addition since I have the arcade and HuCard versions of this soundtrack up already.

Maybe some more later? I'm not sure... I have some other stuff going on today. We shall see!

Game Boy requests today! Could you please do The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for the Game Boy Advance and redo Wario Land 4, both with the new GBA HQ ripping method if possible? Also, Wario Land 4 has that accursed pop sound. Which leads me to my next request, could you please redo Pocket Bomberman and Donkey Kong Country for the Game Boy? They also have the pop sound. Sorry for the inconvenience, but after listening to the pop-free SML3: Wario Land, I cannot resist to re-request these, and I also think those are the only ones left with the pop sound :)

In a nutshell, my requests are:

- The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for the GBA w/ new ripping method.
- The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition for the DS too if possible.
- Wario Land 4 for the GBA w/ new ripping method and without pop-sound.
- Donkey Kong Country for the GBColor without pop-sound.
- Pocket Bomberman for the GB without pop-sound.

Thank you in advance as always! :D

Chiptune fun! Here's what's new tonight:

Dead Moon (TG16) - An epic rock-influenced soundtrack with some catchy lead synths.

F1 Triple Battle (TG16) - This doesn't sound right. I compared it to the music on a real PC-Engine (via my EverDrive) and it's too noisy. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it.

Psychosis (TG16) - I KNEW the name Daisuke Morishima sounded familiar! He wrote the soundtrack to Super Real Mahjong PIV, which we played on the X68000 episode of PixelTunes Radio. He also worte the music for Summer Carnival '92: Alzadick, which we couldn't stop giggling about for ten minutes. That was a really funny episode. Anyways, this is a pretty good soundtrack! Very mellow!

Sagaia (GB) - Hisayoshi Ogura's work on Ninja Warriors with ZUNTATA is legendary, and I think he's becoming one of my favorite composers. His stuff is so unique! Even on the Game Boy, he manged to create some really cool music that doesn't sound like anything else. This one is a must-listen.

That's it for today! See ya! :)

Can you please try and do:
Cotton: fantastic night dreams (PCE-CD)
Last Armageddon (PCE-CD)
Capcom vs SNK pro (PS1)
Aliens (MSX) [Wikipedia seems to imply that there may be more than one game on the MSX with that name. The one I'm interest in is the one by Square that was composed by Nobuo Uematsu]
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Here's a few for today!

Dragon Ball Z - Infinite World (PS2) - OK, so I've just read that only 20-something of these tracks are new, while the rest are all repeats of the tracks in Budokai. So, if anyone's tagging this, can you please remove the duplicate tracks? This is a pretty hefty file size. :-O

Crash Bandicoot - Wrath of Cortex (PS2) - Here's every audio file on the disc, so it should have the stuff missing from the KH Insider listing.

Double Dragon (Arcade) - Some say that this is one of the few games to have a soundtrack that's better on the NES than it was in the arcade. What do you think?

Enjoy, guys!

Lots of updates and a few new ones today! Here's what's updated:

There's a completely redone and tagged version of Wario Land 4 in the GBA section! This one took a long time to do, so please enjoy it!

Also, updated versions of Pocket Bomberman and Donkey Kong Country for the GameBoy are up, too.

Here's the new stuff:

The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition (DS)
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past & Four Swords (GBA)

It's a very Nintendo day! Happy listening!

MagnetMan34
02-19-2015, 09:52 PM
You managed to do the Anniversary Edition too?!?! I wasn't counting on that one! Afaik, there's no possible way to rip songs from DSiWare games, yet you did it! Thank you, thank you and thank you!

http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4yj6h29Zc1rnbl71.gif

Dunno what you did, but I think Pocket Bomberman and DKC also sound better! xD

I can't say anything of Wario Land 4 though, it says the file is no longer available, maybe it didn't replace the old one correctly, but can't wait to check it out.

Oh right, and remember I was tagging the DS Tingle games? Well, the only proper names I could find are from incomplete rips from a youtube user called AnxiousxD (iirc), but there are too little named tracks for so many songs in the rip, so I honestly think it's not really worth it...

ruiner9
02-19-2015, 10:03 PM
Whoops! Wario Land 4's link is updated now... it was still pointing to the old file. And thanks for the compliments, too! :)

Oh, and yes... the method I'm using to rip Game Boy games now not only removes the pops at the start of the tracks, but it's also a cleaner-sounding method. There's definitely a quality difference.

MagnetMan34
02-19-2015, 10:05 PM
You deserve them! :D

Thank you again!

edit: oh yeah, and please keep the ripping method you're using for GB/GBC, the songs sound a lot smoother and better than your old rips, and no pop-sounds guaranteed! ;)

edit 2: Wario Land 4 is a lot better now. Only thing I could say is that Toy Block Tower is a bit glitchy at the beginning and Palm Tree Paradise is missing (though it can be obtained by mixing the Medamayaki Karaoke and Medamayaki Voice, so this one is not a big issue), but it's ok, you've already did a lot of work and I don't want to make you spend more time on this. :)

So just how many Pokemon games ARE there? Every time I think you guys have requested them all, there's another one to rip. Anyways, PokePark 1 and 2 are up in the Wii section... both have a nice mixture of tracks both hard and soft, and share some of the same composers.

I should have a few more later on. Enjoy!

Here's the rest of today's haul:

Alien 2 (MSX) - Some say that Nobuo Uematsu wrote this soundtrack... I mean Wikipedia says so, so it must be true, right? I dunno. Listen and see what you think!

Capcom Vs. SNK Pro (PSX) - Man, these games were top of the charts in fighting games for me. So many characters and so well-done, too! I have the Dreamcast version and still play it a lot. The music is mostly electronic and frenetic, visiting a lot of the different character's themes, but changing them to almost unrecognizable sometimes.

Cotton - Fantastic Night Dreams (PCE CD) - A sugary-sweet and cartoony soundtrack for a game which features a which in a shmup scenario.

Last Armageddon (PCE CD) - How can you have more than one armageddon? Nonsense title aside, the music in this game was surprisingly serious and very well done.

Combatribes (SNES) - Mmmm, SNES and hard rock can be so good sometimes, right?

Unfortunately, I couldn't rip the arcade version of Combatribes. Bummer. :(

Enjoy the tunes, and see ya next time!

Well, ruiner; to answer your question about how many Pokemon games, there are at least fifty. Believe it or not, nearly 75% of those are spin-offs and official apps. Not often when a game series winds up with more spin-offs than main games. At any rate, thanks for the Pokepark rips, and I'll get them retagged as soon as possible.

VGManiac456 went ahead and tagged & ordered the two PokePark games in the Wii section, to be sure to grab 'em! Thanks again, good sir! Also, I'll have the PS2 Crash game retagged soon from him.

MESSAGE FOR TAGGERS

I've devised a way to make retagging on my end much more automated and efficient. The only thing I ask of you guys is to put an underscore between the numbers and the track titles when you send me a list! For example:

01_Level 1
02_Boss 1
03_That Level With All the Chickens
etc...

I *need* that underscore because it will tell Excel to put the number in a different column from the title, and allow me to reorder it the way I need to. And again, I owe all you taggers a great deal of thanks for helping make this one of the most awesome collections of VGM on the internet! :)

Super James Pond (SNES) - There's some solid tunes in here! Very cartoony, and reminds me a lot of Plok!

Battle Squadron (Genesis) - Here's one from Rob Hubbard, a very prolific composer who got his start on the C64. I'm not sure this FM soundtrack is one of his best, but you can certainly see the C64 style of music in this.

Hey Ruiner! Yeah, it's starting to get cold here in North Texas. It's been raining all day, and now it's supposed to get in the 20s tonight. So that means freezing rain, sleet and icy streets Monday morning. They probably won't be running the buses for school, so that means --- Time to stay home and listen to music! That's what I've been doing anyway. Don't judge me. :)

I have my next 5 I'd like to see if you can do:

Phantasy Star (Sega Master System) - One of my all time favorite games. This made me want to buy the system. Great tracks that are highly memorable to me, so huge nostalgia.

Phantasy Star II (Genesis) - There's been a few rips here or there that I've found, but I know your quality on Genesis rips has been far superior. I'd much rather have one from you so I can delete and get rid of my inferior albums I've gotten. Again, loved Phantasy Star II from back in the day.

Burning Soldier (3DO) - This may not be do-able. The music from the game I remember being really cool & awesome. Absolutely loved it. But... It was primarily an FMV engine-based game. So that mean that the music was recorded with the video. It's probably high-unlikely that you'll find it on the disc or ROM somewhere, but... just in case I'm totally wrong, which I would love to be.... I thought I'd ask and have you take a look at it to see if maybe the original music files are somewhere in there. If you don't find them or it can't be done - no worries of course. But it doesn't hurt to ask! :)

Atelier Iris (Playstation 2) - Did really enjoy the RPG on the PS2. It's got quite a bit of music, and I do have some of it, but it's extremely short. I'd like to have a normal rip that has the standard twice loop and fade, just like we normally do. This would be extremely enjoyable to have, and I'm sure a lot of the RPG crowd would appreciate having this, if possible.

Altered Beast (Arcade) - Huge fan of the Genesis version, but I would love to have the arcade soundtrack as well, especially to compare. Loved that you did Burning Force Genesis & Arcade for me a while back, so this would be another great addition to have.

Again - Thanks for all the happy rips! We appreciate it greatly! Stay inside everyone & stay warm! :)

Thanks,

Knivesman

Hey, Ed! Could you do Beast Wars: Transformers for PSX? i heard it has some neat guitar solos

ruiner9
02-23-2015, 07:45 PM
It's a big sack of goodies today, including a few extras!

Since the first two Phantasy Star games were requested, I figured I'd go ahead and do all four. The first one is in the Master System/ Game Gear section, and the rest are all on Genesis. :)

Secondly, Knivesman requested Beast Wars - Transformers (PSX) based on rumors of awesome guitar solos. Well, I ripped it, and while the music is really good, there's not a guitar solo to be found. What I think you were ACTUALLY looking for was the sequel, Transformers - Beast Wars Transmetals. The names are confusing because they don't give any indication which one goes first. Anyways, that sound track is more rock-oriented and FULL of crazy guitar solos. So, both are up in the PSX section!

Lastly, Altered Beast in the arcade section. It's very similar to the Genesis version, but on a YM2151 instead, so the tones are a bit different.

So, here's the bad news: The music in Atelier Iris is sequenced, and not completely ripped. That's why the only versions floating around the web are missing tracks. So, I can't help with that. Also, Burning Soldier is, like was theorized, full of FMV and sound effects over the audio tracks. It's also super-low quality. The interesting news is that there was actually an OST CD released for the game, catalogue # POCH-2214! I happen to know that a popular user on this forum by the name of MiLO has a copy of it, though he hasn't uploaded a rip yet. Maybe if you ask him nicely... Also, Atomiswave games are completely encrypted, so no music from those either. :(

Talking about Amiga music... are the soundtracks really that hard to find? I guess I could consider doing some... request a few titles and I'll see what I can do.

Getting on to the releases today:

PSX

Assault - Retribution - Some mid-tempo electronica. It's pretty basic, but listenable.

Choro Q2 - These game have always had great music. Expect big horn sections. If you like the music from some of the later Mario Party titles, you'll enjoy this.

The Adventures of Lomax - This one's kind of all over the place. Electronic, Asian, and jazzy stuff.

NES

Xexyz - I totally forgot how great this soundtrack was. Just grab it and be happy. :)

N64

Extreme-G 90's techno, straight outta the N64 sequenced audio processor. If you like the WipEout soundtracks, this is very similar.

I couldn't do Hot Wheels Turbo Racing or Twisted Metal 4 because all the music is licensed, and I also can't rip Spy Fiction for technical reasons.

Hope everyone's having a great Christmas or had a great Hanukkah!

What's up, ruiner? Here are my latest requests for you to start my week. This time, it's a company-themed one. The subject is Human Entertainment, best known for the Fire Pro Wrestling series that me and my brother have a great interest in.

- Dragon's Earth (Super Nintendo; Human have done strategy-based games simliar to this one (Vasteel 1 and 2, for instance) and this is one that is different from Vasteel 1 and 2's sci-themes.)
- F1 Pole Position (Super Nintendo; also known as Human Grand Prix. The first game in Human's F1 series for the SNES)
- Fastest 1 (Sega Genesis; the only Human F1 game for the Genesis)
- Taekwon-Do (Super Nintendo; a fighting game that has the elements of taekwon-do. There is no composer info, sadly. :( )

As for the fifth request, it came down to two choices:

- Fire ProWrestling Iron Slam '96 (PlayStation; a precursor to Spike's King of Colisseum series, which was more Fire Pro based than this game was)
- Super Formation Soccer II (Super Nintendo; a backup request if FP Iron Slam '96 can't be ripped. If FP Iron Slam '96 IS rippable, then I'll save this for a future request. A sequel to Super Soccer (which was the America title for Super Formation Soccer), it has some good themes.)

I might continue with the Human theme for my next future request, since I feel that they had the best games in the collection (Fire Pro Wrestling included, of course). Anyways, have a good day, ruiner! :D

Your Phantasy Star rips will be interesting to see, at least for me. Sega released an OST in 2008 called Phantasy Star 1st Series Complete Album with music from all versions of the first four games, which I own, the music is really good quality but PS3 and PS4 are really quiet. It will be fun to see how your rips vary from the official soundtrack.

Hello
As a general rule, Amiga soundtracks can be a little hard to find, but if you look hard you can dig up some of them, or find rips of them for other systems which sound very similar. However, there's a couple of soundtracks that have completely eluded all attempts to find them, amongst them Apidya, which is something of a personal favourite of mine, and which I'm desperate to get. If you could have a look at doing some Amiga games I'd be super grateful! Can you please try and do:
Apidya (Amiga)
Fire and ice (Amiga)
Hybris (Amiga)
Alien breed (Amiga)
The secret of monkey island (Amiga)
Thanks so much!

hey, ive been getting more into collecting different ports of games, so id figure id post a request since you always seem to come through!

first if you think itd be possible to round out the snes Dragon Quest collection with the original V and VI

and then, you've actually covered most of the gba games i'd care about, but there's a couple that have full soundtracks, but with "arranged" versions and pretty bad "how it actually sounds on the gba" versions. so if Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Riviera: The Promised Land are ones that could be ripped, that would be fantastic.

and as a last fifth one, also for the gba, there's CIMA: The Enemy, which is partially composed by Yasunori Shiono, aka Lufia composer.

just realized these are all rpgs, haha sorry. and no big if the gba ones end up being unrippable, i know there's no guarentees with that system. :)

OK, so since I'm new to the Amiga thing, and have little experience with the system, I've ripped and uploaded Apidya and already had a rip of Jim Power in Mutant Planet because I needed it for the podcast a few months ago. Check those out, and if you think the quality is good, I'll do the rest of the list. If I suck at it, I won't bother continuing. :)

Here's what we have today:

Genesis

Fastest 1 - Some neat although short tracks featuring Sonic-style music and revving engines.

Risky Woods - A neat little platformer from Electronic Arts with a very Amiga-like art style. The music is pretty good, although the Amiga version of the soundtrack is ten times better.

SNES

Dragon's Earth - Some tracks have a traditional RPG feel, while others are a bit faster, reminiscent of Brain Lord. I like the faster ones a lot.

F1 Pole Position - Here's some really generic SNES music! LOL, not to say it's bad... it's just not doing anything different from 80% of the other SNES soundtracks.

Taekwon-Do - Hmm. Neat stereo effects and a softer synth tone make this one a pretty good listen. I can dig it.

PSX

Fire Pro Wrestling - Iron Slam '96 - Here's a mixture of hard rock and techno, with a little jazz thrown in. Some of the tracks are bit repetitive, but on the whole, this is a really solid soundtrack.

Amiga

Risky Woods - Compare this to the Genesis version and be floored at how much better it sounds!

Alright friends, that's it! Look forward to the new Podcast tomorrow... the theme is... Puzzle Games! :)

Here's a couple new tunes, too.

Yoshi's Story (N64) - A minimalist composition by Totaka. Very fairytale-like.

POW! More stuff!

First up is Dragon Quest V and VI for the SNES. Epic RPG soundtracks!

Next up, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, CIMA - The Enemy, and Riviera - The Promised Land for the GBA! All are pretty lengthy albums and sound AMAZING in the CleanRip™ format. :)

Lastly, I've gotten rid of the old Ganbare Goemon DS rip in favor of a fully tagged and ordered version named correctly as "Ganbare Goemon - Toukai Douchuu Ooedo Tengurigaeshi no Maki" thanks to the guys at the Portable Music History website. This game, like most in the Goemon series, has an incredible set of tunes. Even if you aren't familiar with the game, you should totally check the music out. You won't be disappointed.

That's it! See ya!

ahhh, thank you!! i know they were all pretty lengthy so i super appreciate it. excited to know all the gba stuff came out well too :D

and if its not a problem, id like to throw out a couple more requests (dont worry, no RPGs this time, and they should all be short afaik??) before calling it done this time;

theres the three first International Superstar Soccer games, which are all by konami and so the music owns. there's the first and International Superstar Soccer: Deluxe both on the SNES, and International Superstar Soccer 64 on the N64 (obviously).

if it helps the japanese titles are Jikkyō World Soccer, 2, and 3 respectively.

and lastly somethin really obscure, Rolo to the Rescue on the Genesis. its an old ea platformer, and i wouldnt even say its like..especially good for a soundtrack? but i played it a ton as a little kid back in the day, so it has serious nostalgia factor.

thank you again for all your hard work. :)

oh, and as a huge puzzle game nerd, those are some damn good music choices for the podcast. anyone highlights chill over fever has good taste.

Thanks! And duh... Chill is only like one of the best NES songs ever! I'll add the requests to the queue.

Also, KingTengu informed me that he'd tagged Ikari No Yousai 2 for the Game Boy a long time ago and sent it to me, but it slipped through the cracks. He sent it to me again and I immediately updated it and ordered the tracks. Sorry KT, and thanks for the tags!

Damn.... I was afraid of that. But I won't give up hope on the day that rips of those games ARE possible! That being said, I'll make a request for a GBA game that I'm a bit more confident IS rippable: Remember the TMNT: Battle Nexus rip I requested a couple months back? Well, this time I'd like to request its prequel. (http://www.gamefaqs.com/gba/589459-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles) Think it can be done? ;)

Also, seeing yet another mention of Goemon reminded me of another request I meant to make: Can you get Goemon: Mononoke Sugoroku for the N64? This one is another Japan-exclusive (probably because it's a party game unlike most of the series), but it still has some pretty good tunes.

Some SNES goodies for the morning:

The Addams Family - A very atmospheric set of songs from longtime Ocean composer Jonathan Dunn

Goof Troop - I was in high school by the time this came out, so I didn't really care about it. The music is very cartoony.

Bonkers - Um, ditto!

Cool World - Keith Tinman also worked for Ocean alongside Jonathan Dunn, and was a great composer in his own right. This soundtrack definitely backs that statement up.

That's all for now! I'm trying to upload FF6, but MEGA is being a pain. I'll have it later.

Morning? It was exactly 5:00PM here!

I'm back with the smallest request known to mankind (probably), GTR 400 on PS2. This was another budget Midas game, for what it was it was pretty decent. The thing is, there is only ONE track for what I know, and it wasn't exactly amazing, either. I would still love a rip of it though, for nostalgia's sake (Maybe the crowd cheering sound that plays when you unlock something too if you can. I know it's not music, but that sound is burned into my head!)

Hello, ruiner. Thought I would make this next request ahead of your two day hiatus. This request continues the theme of games by Human Entertainment:

- Final Match Tennis (PC Engine; Human's sole tennis game for the PC Engine.)
- Formation Soccer: Human Cup '90 (PC Engine; the first game in the Formation Soccer series.)
- Formation Soccer on J-League (PC Engine; the second and last PC Engine Formation soccer game (and also licensed, too, I think)
- Super Fire ProWrestling X (SNES; the best game in the series at the time it was released. Super Fire ProWrestling X Premium, while an expansion, has the same music as this one.)
- The Firemen (SNES; a cutesy little action game that sort of resembles Jaleco's The Ignition Factor.)

Hope you recover from the procedure, ruiner, and I wish you the best. Have a great day!!

Oh, and you're welcome for the retagged Ikari no Yousai 2. :)

Hi ruiner9,

Any chance of re-upping the OST for Getaway: Black Monday? Also, is it possible for it to have an actual tracklisting with titles?

Kind regards

Re-upping? I haven't had that soundtrack on my thread before, but I can certainly try to rip the game. As far as a tracklisting goes, if they're named on the disc, I'll add them. If not, then it won't be possible. I've never played the game so I don't know where each of the songs appear in the game. The YouTube soundtrack upload lists them as tracks 1 through 41, so the likelihood of them being named on the disc is slim.

EDIT - Just to see if it was possible, I took a look at the files. The music is split into 730 files, each about 7 seconds long. I suppose it's because the music is dynamic. All of the music needs to be stitched together into their own songs, and I'm afraid I really don't have the time for an extensive project like that. I'm going to have to pass on this one. Sorry!

Hey Runier - wanted to say thanks so much for the last batch of rips - it was awesome! Really appreciate listening to Phantasy Star on SMS! Ah, the memories! and then doing all the Phantasy Star games - woohoo!!! :) Quadruple score!

Yeah - I kinda knew it was probably gonna be a dead end looking on the disc of Burning Soldier for the music, but yeah never know. Thanks for checking though. However, on a positive note, I did find that Burning Soldier catalog soundtrack listing as well at about the same time. I went searching online, and I actually found a guy who, strangely enough, did a review specific on the music of the game... and it was very recent, about 2013. He had his e-mail address on the article, so I hit him up & asked him if he had any idea where I could get the soundtrack.

Luckily for me, the guy was super cool, and game me the mp3 soundtrack he had obtained a long time ago from that long lost CD release. So...... SCORE! Man, it's friggin great & it was a huge win to obtain. If you or anyone has any interest, let me know & I'll get it for you (send PM please).

Again, Thanks for checking & keep doing beautiful rips! Appreciate it greatly as always!!! :)

Now, onward with today's stuff!

Everything today is for the Amiga... and wow, this stuff is great. Just seriously, go download all of it. Like right now.

Alien Breed - A creepy epic from Alistair Brimble. Included are two extended 16-minute mixes of the title theme that weren't in the game.

Hybris - A shorter soundtrack to a vertical shmup with obvious C64 influences.

Fire and Ice - Some excellent tuneage, very typical of the Amiga era of audio awesomeness.

Lotus III - Patrick Phelan's famous soundtrack. Fun Fact: "Space Ninja" is the theme to Zool! Neat!

The Lost Vikings - Some atmospheric and jamming tunes from Brimble again.

I couldn't rip Pinball Fantasies or The Secret of Monkey Island.

Enjoy! :)

It's funny you should make the same comment about both Hybris and Battle Squadron sounding very C64-ish, as Battle Squadron is technically the sequel to Hybris. They both played very similarly if I recall, so it seems like the company that made them weren't interested in shaking the formula up to much!

Hi there, long time fan of your thread :) Both, Monkey Island and Pinball Fantasies, can be ripped with Deliplayer2. The Deliplayer project hasn't been updated for almost 10 years, and there is currently no way to legally obtain a license. Their website has been dead for a few years as well, so I think it's morally acceptable to use one of the keys floating around on the net. We have some updated sets today, thanks to VGManiac456! Spectrobes - Origins (Wii), Metroid Zero Mission (GBA), and Choro Q 3 (PSX) have all been tagged and/ or updated. Thanks again, dude!

Also, because of nx666, I've ripped Pinball Fantasies and The Secret of Monkey Island, both new in the Amiga section. Thanks to him as well!

Rounding out today's goodies are International Superstar Soccer and International Superstar Soccer Deluxe for the SNES, and International Superstar Soccer 64 for the N64. All three albums have really solid tunes. Would you expect anything less from Konami?

Enjoy the new stuff!

EDIT - So it seems to me that Pinball Fantasies is a partial rip, due to a feature I'm not clear on in the player nx666 is helping me with. Please check your PMs, nx666! Hopefully I can figure out how to get a proper album going.

Hot Wheels: Burnin' Rubber (GBA)
Trackmania DS (DS)

F1 World Grand Prix (N64)
Battle Cars (SNES)

Thanks as always!

Okay, so having got back to the UK (33 hour journey damn near killed me....), I've had a chance to listen to your Amiga rips, and I think the quality is quite good :). I'll try and get Apidya tagged to the best of my ability, how should I go about giving you the list and what format do you want it in?
Also, I know your list is a little long these days, but could you also try doing:
Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat (PSX)
Warhammer: Dark Omen (PSX)?
Keep up the excellent work!

Tagging is easy! Send me a PM with list of all of the tracks named in the order that they are in the upload with an underscore between the number and the title. So for example:

01_Stage 3
02_Stage 1
03_Stage 2

If you feel the tracks would be better off in a different order, then send a 2nd list like so:

01_Stage 1
02_Stage 2
03_Stage 3

The first list will allow me to name the tracks correctly, and the second list allows me to get them in the proper order after being named. The underscore allows me to use software to automate the process a bit, which is handy when games have over 100 tracks.

I'll add the other games to my queue!

Quite an update today... here's what we have:

TG-16

Final Match Tennis - A sort but interesting little album. It's neat to hear cymbal crashes in a TG-16/ PCE game.

Formation Soccer - Human Cup '90 - Aside from some of the anthem-y stuff, there's some neat rock tracks in this one.

Formation Soccer on J.League - More of a traditional Japanese action soundtrack. These guys at Human really knew the PC-Engine sound hardware! Man, there's some unique stuff in here!

SNES

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X - Most of these SFPW soundtracks are very similar... synth guitars and rock drumkits.

The Firemen - More SNES synthrock!

Genesis

General Chaos - Only 3 tracks in this one, and none of them are over a minute long. Mostly militaristic marching songs. Eh.

Arcade

Marvel vs. Capcom - Some unique takes on some of the Capcom character songs, and new stuff for the Marvel Characters.

PS2

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - This version has a few extra tracks and the highest quality music. We're gonna be playing a track from this in the next podcast, so if you want my in-depth opinion on it, you'll have to listen in!

GBA

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Easily noticeable as a Konami soundtrack, though I like Battle Nexus a little more.

N64

Goemon Mononoke Sugoroku - Another fantastic Goemon soundtrack! This one has a jazz/ big band/ oriental feel to it. Great stuff!

Requests I can't honor due to a multitude of reasons:

GT-R 400
Rolo to the Rescue
X-men Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter

That's all for now! Enjoy!

Was GTR 400 unrippable? The music sounds like CD Audio to me, though that's what I thought about Burnout 1's! Thanks for trying, anyway.

I actually have another request that only came to me yesterday, the Megadrive version of Clayfighters. I can find the SNES OST everywhere, but the Sega version is nowhere to be found.

There's one huge datafile on the disc that all of the files are compressed into, and because the game isn't a really popular one, the compression algorithm was never cracked. There aren't any CD audio tracks on the disc.

I have one last request for the time being, this one also being for the N64: Do you think you can get the music for an RPG called Zool: Majuu Tsukai Densetsu? You guys want STUFF? I can give you STUFF. Here's some STUFF!

First up, some crashing symphonic music for the PSX, courtesy of the Warhammer series. There's Warhammer - Shadow of the Horned Rat and Warhammer - Dark Omen.

Next is David Whittaker's nice Battle Cars soundtrack for the SNES. Each track has it's own locale-based theme. it's really good!

We have the rockin' F1 World Grand Prix for the N64. It's an entirely rock/ metal soundtrack. Some was done very well... other times, it sound very out of tune. It's worth a listen for the good ones, though!

Now on to some portable games: TrackMania DS features some Allister Brimble remixes of one of my favorite PC games of all time. I was top 100 in the USA at TrackMania Sunrise for a while!

On the GBA, there's Hot Wheels - Burnin' Rubber, which sounds really good in the CleanRip™ format!

Lastly, a little Amiga game by the name of Hard 'n Heavy. I was playing some random Amiga titles last night, and stumbled across this one. It was fun, and the music was really good, too! Lo and behold, I look it up today and it's none other than Chris Huelsbeck. Surprise! Anyways, check it out!

Enjoy the new rips! :)

Hard 'n' Heavy was originally developed as the sequel to Giana Sisters. After the publisher had gotten into trouble with Nintendo over that one, they changed the name and replaced the player characters with robots. But the gameplay is still pretty much the same. If you like the music, check out the C64 version at some point. The soundtrack is also by Chris Huelsbeck, and features mostly different music.

It's here! Finally! I've finished work on Nintendo Puzzle Collection - Dr. Mario. I'm sorry it took almost a month, but now that I have the kinks worked out with making good recordings from Dolphin, the next ones should hopefully go more quickly. I've left the song titles named for their sound test numbers, to make it easier for someone familiar with the game to tag the titles. I also tagged Hirokazu Tanaka as an artist because... duh. Those songs wouldn't exist if it weren't for him!

This game has some EXCELLENT remakes of the original NES game's music, and I really hope everyone checks it out. It's worth it! I'll start work on the next title in the collection soon. :)

Ed! I'm so sorry I didn't thank you for doing this rip sooner. It's been a busy time for me and took me a while to find your post and what a great rip it was! So yes, thank you, thank you so much for this. I hate to ask if you've managed to look into the Panel de Pon or Yoshi Cookie yet? Or perhaps in the future? Anyway, I realise you're not taking requests now and these two are behemoths so of course don't worry yourself over it.

If you like can also have a go at tagging Dr Mario (GC) for you as well.

I will say I freakin' loved the puzzlers episode of Pixeltunes and I eagerly await you and Mike to do the next one and perhaps the next one after that. So much so, I want to request a few more puzzlers (smaller ones!) for you to rip when you have time.

Thanks for your phenomenal work as always, reading through 20 pages or so of this thread made me so happy.

I thought you had died or something! I was actually about halfway through Yoshi's Cookie when I realized you had gone MIA, and so I let other projects take the lead and put it on the backburner. I can certainly finish that one up. There's a bad issue with Panel de Pon, though: If you listen to the soundtest, you'll notice that the music never stops, and when you switch tracks, they fade into one another! It's going to make a rip impossible to do. What I did with Dr. Mario is play a track, stop the recording, and then play a track that had a hard ending to have a clean start to the next track. That doesn't exist in this game. So... 2 out of 3 isn't bad, I guess! Send me those requests when you get a chance and I'll add them to the queue... crossing fingers it won't be a project like this one ended up! ;)

Yeah, I understand you would have re-prioritised. That's to be expected! I'm sorry about my absence.
So yes, Panel de Pon what an annoying glitch! I wonder if there's some other way around it? The fonts seem to be broken when I load this up on my Wii + freeloader so it's difficult to understand what other options there may be. I may have a little try and see if you can stop the tracks some how.

It's a real shame because Panel de Pon has such nice soothing music – the GC release is just a great quality improvement from the SNES – regardless, I was really pleased to hear about you talking about it on Pixeltunes with memories of you and your grandmother playing it. Thanks for your efforts here, I feel awful that they were so huge and also so fiddly to get ripped.

In terms of requests. I have a few more manageable and (hopefully) straightforward titles:
Dr. Mario & Panel de Pon (GBA): Since the GC version gave you difficulty how about this version? I think this might be the last version of a 'pure' Panel de Pon we have since it's been turned into Pokmon Puzzle League.
Planet Puzzle League (DS) It's Panel de Pon but stripped of the Yoshi-heavy and 'Popple' heavy previous versions.
DIALHEX (GBA): There seem to be a bunch of these Nintendo puzzlers under the 'bit Generations' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_Generations) series. never played 'em. Sound great though!
Kirby's Avalanche (USA) / Kirby's Ghost Trap (EU) : A fun little 'reskin' or 'edited' version of Super Puyo Puyo.
Peggle Deluxe I really really loved that Peggle track you spotlighted on the puzzle 'cast. Any chance we could see the whole album? You can't buy the music anywhere!

I can understand if this one below is a 'No'. But see what you think.

Any chance you could do a sweep and pick up all the Nintendo 3DS menu system music? It'd be cool if you could capture Nintendo 3DS Camera > 'view photos and videos' menu music, Nintendo video,, Activity Log, Nintendo Letter Box and those other little pre-installed games like Face raiders. I've heard a few rip collections but none of them ever get anywhere close to the amount of amazing music Nintendo have crammed into this little apps even when you highlight the icons for these there are cool little jingles. This looks like a tough job – I have no idea how difficult it is for you to rip 3DS in the first place let alone get fiddly with this.

I simply don't have a way to capture line-in audio like that. I've been able to do 3DS games via soundfile extraction from the ROMs, but the system menu itself hasn't been decrypted like that yet. Sorry! I'll add the rest to the queue! GBA games are notoriously hit-or-miss, given that only one sound engine is compatible with the CleanRip™ format. I'll try my best, though!

NOW FOR THE NEW STUFF

TrackMania - Build to Race (Wii) - These tracks are unique to this version of the game, and they're extremely well produced.

BattleToads (Genesis) - A buddy informed me that I was doing the world a great disservice by not offering one of his favorite soundtracks, so here it is! :)

Zool - Majou Tsukai Densetsu (N64) - Some piano and symphonic style stuff, with a few high-energy pieces thrown in for good measure.

Alien 3 (Amiga) - Matt Furniss wrote this one, just like the Genesis version of the soundtrack. Which one is better?

Mega Man 4 (NES) - Holy cow, was the original version of this album screwed up! Delete it and grab the one with the right song titles and composer info!

Captain Commando (Arcade) - It's a shame this one never made to consoles. At least we have MAME to play it and hear the great tunes!

Splatterhouse (Arcade) - I was surprised at how good this is! Also, track 20 is totally dubstep, and 23 is totally Castlevania.

Nemo (Arcade) - Yoko Shimomura wrote this one, unlike Junko Tamiya who did the NES version. You can hear Shimomura's style here... I'm reminded of Street Fighter II quite a bit!

RoboCop - The Future of Law Enforcement (Arcade) - They managed to pull off some pretty cool music using on the FM chip!

OK, don't expect such a big list tomorrow! Cheers!

The good news is that Antosh has tagged Apidya (Amiga) and Warhammer - Dark Omen (PSX)! Thank you!

The bad news is that neither of the requested GBA games are rippable in either the clear format OR the older one. Same goes for Clay Fighter for the Genesis. :(

So THAT'S why I couldn't find the Genesis Clayfighters OST. Could you enlighten me on why it's not rippable, it seems unrippable Genesis games don't happen often.

Anyway, I have three new requests:

First, Doom on PS1. I'm pretty knowledgeable on this OST. I know for sure that all but a few tracks are some kind of MIDI, while the others are CD audio. I'm sure it's rippable in some way though, as a site named gamescares.com (now gone) had a full rip the owner of the Site did himself. For some reason I never downloaded more than 5 tracks, and it turns out its was the only rip available on the Web.

Second, Return Fire also on PS1. This is one of the first games I ever had, yet I never played it more than 4-5 times in my whole life. Don't remember what the OST is like, I haven't played it in about 10 years!

Finally, Ford Racing 3. You did say you were going to rip it at some point anyway, why not now? On a side note for this OST, I'm guessing despite no info for who composed what song, you can pick Tim Follin's compositions out easily? You did specifically list Tim as the composer for "In Race 1" instead of the other two guys.

Thanks in advance!

The sequenced files for DOOM have never been extracted... those 5 files you have are probably the CD audio files from the game. I can re-rip them, but since you already have them....

I used to love Return Fire! The music was strictly public domain classical music in an extremely low quality format. From the wikipedia article:

The game soundtrack consists exclusively of public domain music such as Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries when using the helicopter (in homage to Apocalypse Now), Flight of the Bumblebee when driving the jeep, Holst's Mars from The Planets when driving the tank or the William Tell Overture by Gioacchino Rossini when riding with the flag. When driving in the Armored Support Vehicle, Edvard Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King plays. During the opening title screen Verdi's "Dies Irae" plays as the "Return Fire" logo appears, engulfed in flame. At the completion of each level, a sequence of unrelated vintage black and white short clips greets the player.
So you're probably better off finding the music on Archive.org or something as it'll be in CD quality!

Ford Racing 3 is actually a game I can add to the queue! :)

Hi all! Just a few things I finished up last night that I wanted to post before I head out to PAX...

First up, Antosh tagged Apidya (Amiga) and Warhammer - Dark Omen (PSX)! Thank you so much!

New in the OP is another awesome Amiga soundtrack which is actually called Awesome! There's a ton of great action music in it, and the game is pretty amazing... I mean, "Awesome," too. :)

Also for Amiga is the conversion of T2 - The Arcade Game from Allister Brimble.

On the SNES, puzzle game Kirby's Avalanche is here! This was another game in the Panel de Pon series and has that relaxing music that is familiar to it.

Lastly, for the DS is Planet Puzzle League, which is I think the last Panel de Pon game I'll be able to rip. The music is this one is much more mechanical and dancey sounding... I really like it!

OK, see you guys tomorrow!

Some updates courtesy of VGManiac456: Hot Wheels - Burnin' Rubber (GBA), RoadBlasters (NES), and Wolf Fang (Saturn) have been tagged and ordered! Thanks again for your hard work, sir!

There's one new one - Peggle for Mobile Devices. To accommodate the new track, I added a "Moblie" section to the OP and added the other two mobiles games I've ripped and made separate threads for a while back.

Boogie Wings can't be ripped, unfortunately... well, it CAN, technically, but the sound emulation sucks and it sounds crackly and awful.

That clears my queue, except for Yoshi no Cookie, which will be a relatively long project to finish up (maybe 2 or 3 days.) To keep myself on task, I won't be uploading anything else till that's done, save for retagged albums and stuff like that. :)

It was good, but really busy! It was hard to get any hands-on time with the games, but I managed to check out Hotline Miami 2, Halo 5, and Splatoon, which were three games I was pretty excited about. There was a huge indie section there too, so I got to see a whole bunch of new games coming out for Steam and mobile platforms. All in all, it was great time! Glad you had fun at PAX East! I'd like to make a couple of requests today, if possible. Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age, both for the GBA. The rips I have have a lot of static! XP

OK, All the Super Formation Soccer games for the SNES are up, along with both Golden Sun games for the GBA! Motoi Sakuraba's stuff really sounds awesome using the CleanRip™ method.

Now it's on to finish up Yoshi no Cookie!

Feels weird letting the day go by without posting anything, cuz I can only do Yoshi no Cookie from home at night. So, here's one that I ripped for the next podcast: Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for the X68000. It's one of my favorite versions of the soundtrack!

Enjoy!

Hello
I've just been listening to the Golden Sun and Golden Sun - The Lost Age rips and a few of the tracks, particularly the battle themes, don't seem quite right. I'm no expert on these things, but it seems like some of the channels might be missing on some of the tracks.

It looks like the version that Mogman linked to has some things fixed. I'm not really sure how to fix broken stuff in GBA rips so go ahead and grab that one. I'll probably just take mine down.

Mystic warriors
Vendetta
Ninja kids
Saturday night slam masters
Ring of destruction
And in case anyone hasn't told you already. You're a great ripper ruiner :)

I've tried listening to that one, and the battle tracks also sound off there too (albeit in a different way to yours). The only version I've found that seems to sound correct is at
Golden Sun Original Soundtrack ? The Jason Effect (http://thejasoneffect.net/golden-sun-soundtrack/)

The cleanrip method converts the sound files in a GBA rom to a proprietary MIDI format, with it's own sequencing files and .sf2 soundfont file. The benefit is that it sounds amazing. The drawback is that it sometimes doesn't sound 100% accurate. The songs on the site you linked to were probably from a .gsf set, which emulates GBA hardware to reproduce the sound. It sounds more or less like actual hardware (pretty bad) but is much more accurate. Personally, I'll gladly take the amazing sound quality of cleanrip over the static-filled gsf rips. Most soundtracks come out totally fine.

Yeah, in general I'd agree with you. In the case of Golden Sun however, I'd rather take the inferior but more complete soundtrack, as no matter how clear the music is the fact that some of the tracks are not playing fully really bugs me. Especially as it's the battle themes, which are the best part of the soundtrack to my mind.

Hello, friends! Here's some stuff:

Nintendo Puzzle Collection - Yoshi no Cookie (Game Cube) - FINALLY! Now my wife will stop asking me why I keep staring at the same Japanese menu screen on my PC all day. :)

I've also uploaded the Game Boy and Genesis versions of Battletoads & Double Dragon. Unfortunately on the NES version, Dave Wise used the same style PCM drums that he used on the original Battletoads title, making a stereo rip impossible. :(

I've also updated the old and incorrectly tagged NES versions of Batman and Blades of Steel.

See ya!

Yoshi's Cookie! You're the best, Ed! Was Mogman's post (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/ruiner9s-high-quality-soundtrack-ganza-feat-pixeltunes-138495/116.html#post2906125) an indication that Panel de Pon [GC] could be ripped with some interminable patience/fortitude for particular tracks with endings to cut to the next song? Otherwise is it exceedingly difficult for you to say record, then go back a menu, then enter sound test again?

Something to think about anyway!

ruiner9

Well... there are 57 tracks in the game, and 54 of them loop... also, the shortest non-looping track in the game is about 1:30, which means after every single track, I'm going to have to listen to that song all the way to the end to get silence. That's already over an hour of combined listening time to one song repeated 54 times just to get the game to a point where I can start a song fresh. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to find the time to do it in any sort of reasonable timeframe... Let me do a few and see how arduous it is before giving you a definitive answer.

B_Heatnix

Don't make it a high priority.

FWIW, I think it *might* be possible to cancel a song playback by playing a sound effect. In my screenshots on imgur (http://imgur.com/a/BQSwM/) for Panel de Pon you can see that you can select 'こうかおん' which means 'sound effect' (http://jisho.org/words?jap=koukaon&eng=&dict=edict). Perhaps playing one will cancel the current BGM track, but I don't remember.

*Edit* I see your point regarding loops. It's possible you could model the timing of your recordings on a partial youtube playlist by Skaz9000 (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5FB7FF7E85D47F87) and that would halve your time at least since half the timing on these loops have already been done.

Speaking of 'Skaz9000', I can find nowhere (except Youtube) where he's uploaded his partial rip. A dead end as far as how he managed his rip...

Sound effects were the first thing I tried, and they just play over the song. :(

The Skaz9000 tracks all seem to omit the first few seconds of the song, probably where the tracks crossfade. Clever, but really improper. As far as loop detection goes, I'm pretty good at that... I can do it visually in a waveform analyzer without even listening to the track in most cases. That won't take up too much time.

Let me tell you a story... a story about some arcade games. They all had really good soundtracks. The End.

First up is Vendetta, a Konami soundtrack from Michiru Yamane. In typical Konami fashion, there are a TON of orchestra hits, and really fancy percussion. This is one to check out!

Second is The Ninja Kids from Taito. It's a mixture of Asian melodies and typical action video game tunes, done to nice effect. It uses a YM2610b chip, similar to what's in the Neo Geo, so there's a good mixture of FM sounds and PSG in it.

Last up is Mystic Warriors, another fantastic Konami soundtrack. While I was ripping it, I was chatting with my friend Bryan, who's co-host of the excellent Pixelated Audio (http://www.pixelatedaudio.com/) VGM podcast, and I was telling him how awesome it was. Turns out, he had already done a rip from M1 himself, and gave me permission to post it! It sounds practically Identical to the rip I was just starting, so you're not missing out on quality. :)

Enjoy!

Hi ruiner, could you do the following soundtracks:

Bosconian (X68000)
Magical Block Carat (X68000) - IMO even better than the PC98 version you posted, but, for whatever reason, I never got this one working with Hoot. There are 2 versions of this soundtrack: OPM+MSM and MIDI (probably SC-55). I'm not sure if you can do good-quality MIDI recordings though.
Otoboke Ninja Colosseum (SNES)

I also had a look at some of your MSX rips (thanks a lot!) and there is something wrong with how Gradius sounds. I assume your rip is based on the original PSG version, but some of the channels are way too quiet and/or oddly filtered.

Many thanks!

The Carat track that I played on the podcast was recorded through an emulator. I can do the FM version, but the midi output sounds terrible. The MSX transcoder doesn't allow for volume adjustments on a per-channel basis so I can't do anything about that.

The FM version would be great as well :) I actually managed to convert the SC-55 soundtrack to regular midi files, and I could probably do a recording using an SC-55 sound font. At first listen, it didn't sound too bad.

The MSX transcoder doesn't allow for volume adjustments on a per-channel basis so I can't do anything about that.

Hmm. What program are you using to play MSX music? I just tested this with Winamp + NEZPlug and XMPlay + GME plugin, and they both didn't have this problem (even on the default settings).

I've been using Foobar2000 + Game Emu Player. I can try NEZPlug. I used to use that for Game Boy rips but it was HORRIBLE, so I scrapped it. The interface is really annoying, too.

EDIT: Actually, I used a converted .vgm pack for that album. Perhaps that's the reason why. I wasn't familiar with the game, so I didn't know what the original music sounded like.

EDIT 2: Nope, wasn't the .vgm pack. The .vgm pack sounds great. Not sure what I used. It was almost exactly a year ago that I posted it, and I've done quite a bit since then. Anyways, Gradius for MSX is now updated and sounds a billion times better. Thanks for the heads-up, nx666!

Haven't gotten to it yet! Yesterday I was busy recording the two new releases, Saturday Night Slam Masters and Ring of Destruction - Slammasters II (Arcade)! Both are some great examples of Capcom's chiprock, and they each feature a lot of the same themes as perfromed by different composer teams. Worth a download! Also, if I ever do a "wacky music" theme podcast, "Theme of Rasta" will definitely be in it! ;)

Guys. Here's a bunch of albums from a bunch of different systems. Some are requests from here, some are requests from personal friends, some... I HAVE MY REASONS FOR. *ahem*

Bad Dudes vs Dragonninja (Arcade) - Some urban-styled FM synth stuff for a classic brawler.

Space Harrier - (SMS) - Considering they took one of the greatest soundtracks Sega has ever made and squeezed it into their PSG chip, the results are pretty listenable.

Baseball Stars II (NES) - I forgot how good this soundtrack was! I still like the Neo Geo version better, but these songs are totally different and worth a download.

Space Harrier II (Genesis) - So the same guy that arranged the original game for the SMS wrote these original tracks for this Genesis title. They're very unique sounding, but on the whole they're pretty catchy!

Genocide 2 - Master of the Dark Communion (X68000) - This soundtrack was a long time coming! This is one of the greatest collection of original tunes to hit X68000! You may remember the track "Shock '72" from the X68000 podcast, and here's a whole 2 hours of awesome YM2151 action music. Dig it! (Note: one or two tracks have tiny glitches, and it's because of the song's code. They're nothing major and shouldn't deter you from grabbing this GST!)

Earthworm Jim Special Edition (Sega CD) - Tommy Tallarico's arrangement of Mark Miller's tunes from the first game. Very quirky and original stuff.

That's all, folks!

I've been looking for the CD Earthworm Jim OST for ages, thanks for ripping! However, there are clicks at the start of each track. Why is it that every OST that you have ripped that I'm interested in ends up having a flaw of some kind? I'm sure I'm cursed!

I've seen Punch Out Wii ripped at least twice before, I don't have the game myself but I think each fight song is cut into parts, for example Main Part, Mac Down, Opponent Down etc. One of the rips stitched them together, but some songs had poor cuts.

Hmmm I noticed the clicks in Earthworm Jim, but I also notice now some weird artefacts in "Genocide 2: Master of the Dark Communion"(x68000) soundtrack. :(
For example, in the #10 track "Drains (Stage 2-1)", you can hear a buzz around 0:46 and 0:51.
I heard buzzs in other tracks too but forgot to write the titles down.
Something must have gone wrong while you were ripping it. :(

EDIT : You can hear some weird "clicks" in #8 track "Tetchy Funk (Stage 1-3)", around 1:26, followed by another buzz. I can't figure if the clicks are normal or a glitch. Anyway it sounds wrong.
You don't pay attention if you listen through speakers, but it's very obvious with earphones.

I've got to admit that it's sometimes really hard to tell if these songs are supposed to have these little sounds or not. I thought that the track Oversteer from the Gumball 3000 rip had a large composition error click around 1:08 when I first listened to it, only to find out that the part of the song has an old crackle effect on it while it switches to that short portion, it's just too hard to hear properly without headphones.

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase has already been requested (believe it or not) and I can't do that one. I will add the others, though!

Here's what's new today:

B.A.T. II (Amiga) - So there's just one song here, and it's pretty good, I guess. The other track is just ambient SFX.

SNES

Human Grand Prix 2, 3, and 4 - If you're familiar with Power Rangers SNES soundtracks and like them, this will be a good choice for you.

Super Final Match Tennis - This almost sounds like puzzle game music to me.

Tadaima Yusya Bosyutyu Okawari - Symphonic music with some ethnic flair.

Otoboke Ninja Colosseum - This one uses a lot of sounds that seem to be real sampled instruments. They sound a little staticy, but very real. Neat!

Enjoy! :)

Twilight Syndrome: Investigation (PSX - were these two Twilight Syndrome games done by Masafumi Takada, I wonder?)

Blood+ One Night Kiss (PS2)
Echo Night 2 (PSX)

Decided to do some more requests here:

1. Street Fighter II Champion Edition (Arcade) (mainly for the extra tracks that's not on the original version.)
2. Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Arcade)
3. Street Fighter II (Gameboy)
4. Marvel Super Heroes War of the Gems (SNES)
5. The Lion King (SNES)

Thanks in advance.

OK, I'm BURIED in requests right now, so I'm asking anyone else to hold off. Considering I also have to do Panel de Pon, I'm looking at probably a two week or more wait till I get to the end of this list...

And then, I'm taking a break for a while.

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase has already been requested (believe it or not) and I can't do that one.

Here's Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase! I found it on Youtube from user retrovgm, so credit him with the rip. Zippyshare.com - Cyberpunk.rar (http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/qzA4e2xG/file.html)

Alrighty, here's some new stuff!

First is Yuzo Koshiro's amazing Bosconian (X68000) soundtrack. Don't miss this one, it's fantastic.

There's Micro Machines for the Game Boy, kind of a minimalistic approach to western-style composition.

We've got Micro Machines for the SNES, too, and it's not too much different in style from the Game Boy version.

Battle Racers (SNES) has some cool tunes, especially the racer selection theme.

Last up is Mr. Driller - Drill Spirits (DS), which reminds me of Bomberman's music in places. It's fun and mechanical.

Happy listening! :)

It's Sega CD time! I've fixed Earthworm Jim - Special Edition for those who are annoyed by the pops in the audio.

Also, I've uploaded Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco - The Tides of Time. They are TOTALLY not my style of music, but if you like that kind of stuff, go for it!

If you do grab it, go ahead and grab the awesome covers that uut made in this post (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/ruiner9s-high-quality-soundtrack-ganza-feat-pixeltunes-138495/117.html#post2912139), too!

It's an eclectic update today! We're ranging from early and short arcade tunes to complex, long console albums! Let's find out what they are!

Arcade

1943 The Battle of Midway - Truly a classic soundtrack... it's early FM synth, sure, but the melodies are catchy and uplifting!

Toki - Some pretty simple and weird songs.

Victory Road - The sequel to Ikari Warriors featured a metal-inspired soundtrack, especially in the Area 2 track.

PSX

Bomberman Party Edition - I think Jun Chikuma must've asked "You want me to remix my original theme HOW many times?" because there are a TON of them on here! And of course, being Chikuma, they're all really good!

Wii

Punch-Out!! - A crazy long soundtrack full of live instrumentation in almost every genre under the sun, with lots of remade tunes from the SNES and NES games. Totally worth the download, even if it is huge!

Enjoy, guys! :)

Hey Ruiner,

I'm not in any big hurry given the usual size of your request queue, but I had a couple I wanted to make. A pair of Japanese PC games:
Last Armageddon for the PC-88
Marine Philt for the PC-98

Thanks!

Here are things!

First off, Formation Soccer - Human Cup '90 (TG16) was retagged and ordered by KingTengu, based on a hidden sound test in the game. Thanks!

Next up is new stuff:

Japanese PC

Carat - Magical Block (X68000) - So, if you thought the PC-98 version is good, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. The X68000 version is honestly some of the best FM music I've ever heard. It's amazing, and the PCM drums are perfectly mixed with the synths. I'm amazed at this one.

SNES

EEK! The Cat - I was surprised to see that this one was partially composed by Barry Leitch. This is normally a game I'd never have thought to listen to, but the music is incredible.

Chrono Cross - Surprised to see that it was requested, considering that it's pretty easy to find around here, but here's my version!

Capcom's Soccer Shootout - Horns and action songs... that's what SNES Capcom is all about, right?

Mohawk and Headphone Jack - I never rented this one because the weird naked guy with the green hair on the cover always freaked me out. I guess I wasn't missing too much in the music department either... it's not the best. Maybe nostalgia makes it sound better, LOL.

Tin Star - A short western-themed soundtrack from Chris Jojo, who's pretty talented. The music is listenable and cinematic.

OK, that's it! Go download Carat and let me know what you think! :)

SNES games can be done with SPCs from *snesmusic.org* and programs like Super Jukebox. SPC might be the highest quality format, better than other stuff like those USFs. The update priority of them could be reduced... stuff with nothing out first.

This is a first-come, first serve thread. I update in the order that music was requested in. Yes, SNES is pretty easy to do, which is why I tend to put out more of them at once. I'm not going to skip people ahead of the line for it though. What's your hurry?

- Air Attack (1996 - Arcade)
- Battle Circuit (1997 - Arcade)
- Elevator Action Returns (1994 - Arcade)
- EspGaluda (2003 or 2004 - Arcade)
- Golden Axe (1989 - Arcade)

Greetings, ruiner9,

I created this special index here, and I am working on upcoming threads posted below it.

Thread 187127

I also noticed that Seibu Kaihatsu's Knuckle Joe arcade isn't fully ripped. The best way to rip it is straight from MAME while turning off some sound channels, but it won't be easy, unless you know any cheat codes.

Howdy! Here's some new stuff again:

PSX (Most of these aren't tagged very well, as info is scarce on the web. Please help fill in, if you can!)

Echo Night 2 - Nemuri no Shihaisha - I'm still upset that this never came out in the US, because the original was SOOOO GOOD. Anyways, this soundtrack reminds me more of an SNES RPG than a creepy Playstation first person puzzle-solver.

Mizzurna Falls - This one also oddly sounds like an SNES game. It's got some nice jazzy pieces thrown in as well. Pretty good!

Twilight Syndrome - Tansaku Hen and Twilight Syndrome - Kyuumei-hen - Two games about Japanese high school girls solving scary mysteries. The soundtrack reminds me of something out of an early Silent Hill game. Creepy, and full of children's melodies and music-box style stuff. There are some heavy electronic beats throughout, too.

PS2

Blood+ One Night Kiss - Masafumi Takada has always written awesome stuff, and this is no exception. The game itself wasn't too great, making the music stand out even more. If you like the soundtracks to the No More Heroes series or God Hand, you'll probably enjoy this, too.

Also, I can't rip Digimon World 2 :(

These are the last of the requests before I start working solely on Nintendo Puzzle Collection - Panel de Pon and take a breather from ripping. It's starting to feel like more work than fun, so that's my cue to step away for a bit until I miss doing it again. :)

Street Fighter II (Game Boy) - The portable renditions of the classics you know and love!

Street Fighter II Champion Edition (Arcade) - These are slightly enhanced remakes of the original tunes, on the same sound hardware.

Super Street Fighter II (Arcade) - This contains all of the Turbo songs, as well... I think there were only one or two tracks added to it anyways. These are my favorite of the arcade soundtracks, and the best-sounding Q Sound game they put out.

The Lion King (SNES) - Some faithful renditions of the movie's tunes, plus a few African inspired originals.

Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems (SNES) - Some good ol' Japanese action tunes with a heavy snare and some textured synths. Pretty good!

OK! Even though the rips will take a short break (no more than two weeks), I'll still be "in the thread." I'll do any submitted track tags, I'll still be posting about new podcasts, and I'll give updates about the status of Panel de Pon, too.

I knew Mark Miller did the SNES OST, but I always thought Tommy did the Megadrive version, especially since the CD version of "Buttville - The Decent" samples an instrument from the Megadrive version on the track in the intro. Well, I've learned something today!

On differences between the Megadrive and CD versions, the SEGA CD version does have an extra level, Big Bruty. New Junk City is extended too, as well as the level that's missing in the SNES version, Intestinal Distress. It's the best version of the game IMO.

Anyway, could I trouble you for a redo of Kirby's Dream Land? I haven't asked for one of these Gameboy fixes for a while. Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't doubt it if Tallarico took audio samples or had the source music from Miller's original composition. He's no stranger to FM soundtracks, so it wouldn't be beyond his ability to integrate some of the YM2612 stuff into his redbook audio.

I'll add Kirby's Dream Land to the queue!

Hi, Ed! I guess you know that early Suda 51 game Moonlight Syndrome is actually a spin-off of Twilight Syndrome series. Guess it's also the earliest Masafumi Takada work, huh?

It's intro theme is #1 of intro themes for me :) Be sure to watch the video itself. I hope fan translation will be finished and we could play this psychologic love horror adventure.

Ah! Request time. Could you please do Murakumo for Xbox? That was one of launch titles for Japan and we could say it's definetely not the best game From Software made :)
This attempt of making rail shooter with mecha was pretty rushed. They returned with badass Otogi 1-2 and Metal Wolf Chaos later, but that's another story. Anyway, i think it has some cool tunes.

Wow... that Moonlight Syndrome video is CRAZY! The terrible English made it even better. :) Suda51 is a really unique dude... he and Swery should team up to make a sequel to Deadly Premonition!

Murakumo shouldn't be a problem... I'll add it to the queue, just be aware that it's going to be a while, as I'm taking a small break once I finish Panel de Pon.

Also, the Otogi series is fantastic... I liked the first one better, though. It had such a feeling of loneliness, and having friends in the 2nd game took all of that away.

Great episode! Didn't Harumi Fujita compose the arcade original? The NES soundtrack is quite different, but that particular piece is just a conversion. Also, I can't believe you missed an opportunity to play a Follin track here, he did the computer ports of that game:

It's true that Fujita wrote the original Bionic Commando arcade music, but the tracks I played on the podcast are different than the one you linked to, and were original pieces to the NES version.

You're thinking of the Area 5 song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjKzFihYYf0

While I was playing the song from Area 8:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGqse3S3k-o

It begins with a similar melody, but evolves into something very different over time. I chose it because it's my absolute favorite song from the Rearmed soundtrack, and I'm honestly saving as many Tim Follin tracks as I can for when I finally do a composer spotlight on him. :)

It's true that Fujita wrote the original Bionic Commando arcade music, but the tracks I played on the podcast are different than the one you linked to, and were original pieces to the NES version.

You're thinking of the Area 5 song:

While I was playing the song from Area 8:

It begins with a similar melody, but evolves into something very different over time. I chose it because it's my absolute favorite song from the Rearmed soundtrack, and I'm honestly saving as many Tim Follin tracks as I can for when I finally do a composer spotlight on him. :)

Area 8 is a cover of the arcade version as well. Coincidentally, these two seem to be the only songs on the NES soundtrack that are not original. Here are the correct links. I got mixed up by the song title, which is "The Tower of Demon" on the arcade OST.

Hmm, interesting! I wasn't aware of that. It's been ages since I listened to the arcade version of the soundtrack, and thought that they were completely different. Thanks for the heads-up!

A word or two about what i'm listening to lately (some are finds of this thread, some not).

Armored Core: Formula Front - light and bright electronica
Aldynes - melodies are pretty catchy, especially "Stage 3"
Buck Bumble - it's very minimal, but hey it's groovy!
Change Air Blade - while some tracks sound heavy midi-style, other are pretty modern electronic with nice rhythms. ㈱御子柴技研工業 F⁄A-6Ω "Omega Arrow" Theme is my fav.
Cyber-Lip - while it sounds pretty dirty and more like snes x genesis crossover than later NG music, it has some really rocking staff.
KoF: Maximum Impact - "Lost World Stage" is masterpiece! Drum'n'bass from heavens!
Street Fighter EX+ Alpha - very very solid work.
NiGHTS into Dreams... - ignored it for a while, and it's surprisingly good!
Lucienne's Quest - beautiful, soft, calm, tender and sometimes spooky and alert.
Radirgy and Radirgy Noa - Milestone always had AWESOME electronica in it's shmups. Sadly, company is closed twice! Composers even deleted their soundcloud pages. Hope they'll return one day.
Star Control II - mysterious and inspiring. I'm talking about 3DO version, of course.
Tetsujin Returns - hey, hey, hey! Wasn't expecting such cool dark, avant-garde ambient.
Guardian War - O.M.G. That's ultrawin. Now it's one of best vgm i ever heard. "Title" squeezes you at start, "World Map 1" is endlessly epic and beautiful with it's guitar riffs and "Shinden" is absolutely godlike piece of music!
Aero Dancing i, AeroWings 1-2 - beautiful screaming guitar. Techno tracks included too.
Spectrobes: Origins - well, T's Music rulez!
Trickstyle - nice experimental techno/breakbeat
Power Drift - solid work from Sega's Hiro.
Puzzle Dimension - the game itself inspired by Kula World and music is lovely.
Nobunaga no Yabou: Ranseiki - excellent work by Yoko Kanno
Ollie King - u've got the rhythm! YEEEEAH. Such awesome ost for arcade-only skateboard game.
Flame of Recca - wow, just wow. Most powerful chiptune/sample mix of GBA i heard.

Ah! Tetsujin Returns, AKA Iron Angel of the Apocalypse! Crazy good, right? I Love that one! And Ollie King is another of my all-time faves. :)

I just got introduced to the soundtrack of a PS4/ Vita game that's AMAZING... it's called Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender and I love it!

Just listen to the first track and tell me you're not blown away... and they're ALL this good!
