Sorry for double post, but thanks again for Soukaigi rip. It's DAMN GOOD! Especially guitar parts, both bass and acoustic. I'd say it's now the best thing that composer created, imho.

Also wanted to mention an opinion about some vgm i've listened here:

Phelios - i like it's "sentimental" theme of Artemis
Star Cruiser II - it's cool, but still not as cool as Knight Arms: The Hyblid Framer, that was real masterpiece, esp. tracks "Destructive Note" and "Jazzy Moon".
Side Arms Hyper Dyne - at first i didn't like it, but after several relistens it opened to me. Nice sound and compositions.
Driving Emotion Type-S - what, Shinji Hosoe x Ayako Saso? That duo always deliver! Though tracks from T. Aihara also rock! Nice fusion of funk, rock and everything in between in this score.

Excellent! Is he recording from MAME? I really don't like doing it that way, but if that's what needs to be done to get the soundtrack, I'm glad he doesn't mind!

Yes, I'm doing these in MAME and it is really cumbersome. In terms of quality there shouldn't be any difference as M1 is based on the MAME (and MESS) sources. MAME obviously supports more sound chips, but the process is very time consuming - even for games that have sound tests.

Yeah, that's the main reason I avoid it... I get so backlogged when faced with a bunch of soundtracks that need manual recording. That and the fact that I do a lot of my rips via an automated process while I'm working... programs like Winamp and Foobar are OK on my work computer, but I don't think my boss would appreciate video game emulators on there. :)

Can I ask how long ago did you rip Mario Kart: Super Circuit? It sounds oddly muffled and low quality compared to the copies of the soundtrack on YouTube. Is your older GBA rip's from a different method that yielded worse results?

According to the file dates, that's the 3rd GBA game I ever ripped, going back to New Year's Day, 2014. So yeah, that would explain the rough quality! I can do a CleanRip version of it, if you'd like me to put it in the queue, and if you don't mind tagging it once it's done to save me a bit of time.

Here's what's new today (besides the podcast, which is up on iTunes, Stitcher, and YouTube, but I haven't updated the OP yet.)

Al Unser Jr.'s Turbo Racing (NES) - Some solid tracks from Shogo Sakai and the rest of the Data East Squad.

Rolan's Curse II (GB) - A lighthearted romp! Or something like that. I found the composer info for this game from an old tweet from the Japanese developer. Talk about detective work! :)

Phalanx (SNES) - One of my ALL TIME favorite SNES soundtracks! It's a great blend of electronic and rock! It was one of the first SNES rips I did, but lost it when Dropbox murdered my files, so now it's back!

Children of Mana (DS) - Some heavy hitter composed this one, namely Kenji Ito, Masaharu Iwata, and Takayuki Aihara. It's a widely varied soundtrack. I think I like Iwata's tracks the best.

Shining in the Darkness (Genesis) - Another very eclectic soundtrack, full of cartoony tracks, medieval tunes, and some suspenseful cinematic songs.

Stellar-Fire (Sega CD) - Oh man, it's like I stepped right into an 80's action movie with this soundtrack! This is REALLY good stuff! This is gonna go in a podcast.

Eco Fighters (Arcade) - Another fun action game! This one is QSound, so it has that kind of Genesis-meets-SNES sound, and the compositions are really typical of a Capcom action game... tight, fast melodies. Good Stuff.

Enjoy, guys!

To celebrate the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” it’s a Marvel Comics episode! There was no shortage of Marvel Superhero-based games in the 80’s and 90’s. Kids got to live out their dreams of fighting villains as Spider-Man or Wolverine, even if some of the titles didn't quite live up to expectations. Fortunately, the one thing in common between many Marvel games is awesome music! Mike and Ed slice into the pages of their favorite comic book games and yank out some clobberin’ tunes. Excelsior!

My turn! :)
Only 2 requests today!

I would love...
- Sega Rally (Arcade)
- Super Hang On (Arcade)

I noticed that I had only the Saturn version of Sega Rally, plus a weird album called "Sega Rally Championship - Complete - Competition (1996)", which is VERY annoying cos
there's an announcer who won't shut up and he ruins every track. I wonder why they made an album like this, actually.
So I'm wondering if it's possible to get a "normal" rip of Sega Rally. Also it sounds a bit different than the Saturn version (as usual :) )

As for Super Hang On, it's as relaxing as OutRun, to me. :)

Ogre Battle 64 - Hitoshi Sakimoto

Chameleon Twist 2 - typical platformer music, but pretty good (by Sunsoft)
Wetrix - awesome electronic music
Wonder Project J2

Here's a couple of requests:

Kuon (PS2) - From Software; lots of ambient sounds.
Operation Winback 2: Project Poseidon (PS2/Xbox) - Pretty sure this was a Nobuyoshi Sano composition? Sounded like it to me anyway.

In addition to these two requests, ruiner, I'd also like to request this one, please:

Heroic Legend of Arslan (SEGA CD)

Thanks in advance.

Hey, ruiner, I have a request: Xenosaga Episode 1: Der Wille Zur Macht for Playstation 2? And yes, people, I know it has an official soundtrack, but a lot of the songs sound different ingame then they are on the soundtrack (same as with the PS2 version of Kingdom Hearts re:Chain of Memories), and I'd like to compare. Also, I want a looping version of that final dungeon theme, I LOVE IT

If you can't do that one, ruiner, then how about Crash Nitro Kart for the Playstation 2? It had some good music, after all (nowhere near as kickass as CTR, but still good in its own right).

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out!

Here's the new stuff for today:

WWF WrestleFest (Arcade) - Fairly standard FM arcade music. Nothing special, but it's got a nice beat to it.

Eternal Champions (GEN) - You know, I don't think I've ever heard the Genesis version before. I bought the Sega CD version when it was new, and only ever played that one. The music in the cart version is pretty good! Not as good as the CD, of course. ;)

Magical Hat no Buttobi Turbo! Daibouken (GEN) - Remember Decap Attack? Well, this is what it looked like in Japan. The music is even different! It's REALLY good, but wouldn't fit Decap Attack at all. The cool thing is, we get two awesome soundtracks instead!

Adventures in the Magical Kingdom (NES) - One of Yoko Shimomura's first game soundtracks, and it's no wonder why she's had such a fantastic career. These tracks are rich and full of great melodies.

Winback 2 - Project Poseidon (PS2) - Rock, electronic, piano ballads... this is quite an eclectic soundtrack. Super well-produced, too! A worthy download. I just wish there were title tags to go along with it!

Also, I couldn't do Kuon.

Enjoy, folks!

So N64 suggestions. This is a tough one since third party support wasn't great for the N64, and even some of the games with good soundtracks that came from third party developers were published by Nintendo, like Bomberman 64, the Banjo Kazooie games and Mischief Makers.

I second the recommendations for Ogre Battle 64 though.

Hmmm... Jet Force Gemini and Perfect Dark aren't bad, and they're full Rare games.

Oh, Doom 64 is a good one. Very moody, dark ambient music. Different from your usual Doom tracks.

I'll have to listen to Ogre Battle. I know it's supposed to be really great, but symphonic music just isn't my thing, I don't wanna pick a track for the podcast that I'm not enthusiastic about. Jet Force Gemini's already been chosen, and we played Perfect Dark on an episode not too long ago. Doom might be a possibility, if there's anything in there that's more like a traditional song rather than ambiance. Thanks for the suggestions!

Too add to my Super Circuit request, could you also rip both the Japan and Western versions of Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)? The Western music did have an official OST, but it's quiet and some of the songs are stuck together.

Thanks for tip, i'll try that with u-2be.

And here is time to update my wishlist for this thread:

Bomberman World (tricky electronica by Chikuma)
Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection (i heard it has several decent tunes)
Robots (either GBA or DS version. Surprisingly good for licensed title i never heard of)
Cyber Spin aka Shinseiki GPX Cyber Formula (moar snes racing tunes!)
Tinhead (pretty moody genesis sound)

That's requests for ruiner9

I also have a thing to ask nx666 (as he pointed me here to say it) if Sengoku Ace (1993) and Metamoqester (1994) are doable in any way. They were completely not in the past but maybe smth changed?..

Thanks for attention.

Because "Arcade" vgm is your territory in first place, and he is checking both threads.

He means ask here first, and if I can't do them, then you can request in his thread. Since you already requested them here in the past and I couldn't help, you can now request in nx666's thread. Does that make sense?

Yes, that's what I meant. Sorry about the confusion. I'll (begrudgingly) add these two games to my queue as they both can be done through MAME. I'm not sure I like where this is going though. I don't mind doing the odd arcade request here and there, but, at the moment, my request log consists exclusively of arcade games. And that's not exactly what I had in mind when I made that thread. Maybe I should change the rules so that each arcade request has to come with 2 more for the other systems :)

If you're not having fun doing it, then you probably shouldn't be doing it. I know you didn't set out to be the "if ruiner9 can't do it, I'll do it" guy. :)

OK guys, here's today's updates!

TG16 & PCE-CD

Bonk's Adventure (HuCard) - One of the earliest TG16 titles, and the music is pretty simple but fun.

Bonk's Revenge (HuCard) - I love this soundtrack! It's dynamic and makes great use of the sound hardware. It's got a caveman vibe to it, too.

Mugen Senshi Valis (CD) - Oh man, Telenet's soundtracks were so good, on chip or CD!

Super Air Zonk (CD) - The Japanese subtitle for this game was "Rockabilly Tengoku," and that's totally fitting. There's some great in this one!

Super Darius II (CD) - Also known as Sagaia in some countries, T's Music rocks it like none other! Huge guitars and drums make this soundtrack awesome.

Enjoy!

Nope, I'll add that to the requests, too.

Here's today's new stuff!

WCW Nitro (PSX) - Not sure how much better this is in terms of quality, DarkEmperor... the production on the CD itself isn't that great. But at least I was able to get the (weird) track names off of the disc's filesystem!

Giant Gram - Zen Nihon Pro Wres 2 in Nihon Budoukan (DC) - What a mouthful! Here's some rock tracks from a pretty good wrestling game.

From the Abyss (DS) - There's some traditional RPG music in here, interspersed with some elecronic tracks for battle/ bad guy music themes. I really like "Demon" and "Volcano."

Yu-Gi-Oh! - Dark Duel Stories (GB) - Not too much to say about this one... it's decent Game Boy music, but it's not groundbreaking. Not bad, either... it just sounds middle-of-the-road to me.

OK, there's a whole bunch I couldn't do this time, which sucks:

King of Colosseum II (PS2) *can’t find iso*
All Star Pro Wrestling III (PS2) *can’t find iso*
Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 - Oudou Keishou (N64) *no USF available*
All Star Pro Wrestling (PS2) *no decryption available*
Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Quest (genesis) *No VGM set or sound test*
Roar of the Beast (genesis) *No VGM set or sound test*

If anyone knows of working links for the first two games, let me know and I'll try them. I found a ton of links for them around the web, but they were all old/ outdated, so make sure they work before you tell me, please!

Boy, summer is already here in the Northern US! Temperatures are up to 85F today, which is really hot for this time of year!

Here's some cool soundtracks for the hot weather:

Legend of the River King 1 & 2 (GB) - I know just 2 was requested, but I did the first one by accident and figured I'd just upload it alongside 2. Bonus soundtrack!

Master of Monsters - (GEN) - Hitoshi Sakimoto arranged this one using his Terpsichorian sound driver, so of course it sounds amazing. There's some classical music intertwined with some epic battle music in this one. Worth the download!

After Burner 3 (Sega CD) - Enjoy some 90's rock, like only the Sega CD can provide! Well, actually, this one came out on the FM Towns Marty, too, but who's gonna play THAT one? ;)

Lastly, Knivesman tagged Soukagi in the PSX section. Thank you sir!

Now, off to enjoy the weather! 8)

Hey, ruiner! It's been a while since I've requested something, so here is some more wrestling related requests (if possible).

- Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling: Chousenshi in Tokyo Dome (SNES; despite sounding a little rough, the tunes are very well composed)
- WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling (SNES; not much in tracks for such a horrible looking and playing game. Fun fact: the Title Theme is the ONLY track in the game, but there are some unused tracks, though)
- WWF RAW (Sega 32X; so much better soundwise than the Genesis version's. Also has Kwang's theme unlike the other versions)
- WWF Royal Rumble (Sega Genesis; I've requested this version, but I'm not sure if it is still in your request queue (?). This version replaces some wrestler themes with different ones, like Hulk Hogan and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling 2: 3.4 Budoukan (SNES; the third game in the All Japan Pro Wrestling SNES series. Might request the first two on a future request list, as they have some good music.)

Have a good week, ruiner, and whatcha' gonna do when Ruinermania runs wild over the FF Shrine?

This is kind of a bummer update, as it's stuff that I can't rip. Spent a lot of time trying to, though:

Aero the Acrobat (GBA) (Not Compatible)
HIBIKI (PC-98) (No HOOT set)
Mobile Suit Gundam Hyper Classic Operation (FM Towns) (Can’t Find Game)
Square Resort (X68000) (No HOOT set, no in-game sound test)
AZURE (FM Towns) (can’t find game)

The one request from Parrothead1987 that I CAN do is Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman, which is through HOOT and pretty lengthy, so it'll take a while. I may release some quicker, more automated soundtracks in the meantime while I'm working on that one. Hopefully I'll have more later today!

Just out of curiosity... how did you record the music you have so far?

And now.... the Soundtracks!

Today, we have the Saturn releases of Lunar, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, and Mahou Gakuen Lunar! All three are from Noriyuki Iwadare, the series' mainstay composer. The first game is all sequenced audio, the 2nd game is streamed at 22khz, and the 3rd is CD audio, so quality and tagging will differ between soundtracks.

Now, as far as the Japanese Mega CD versions of the games go, the games use chiptune tracks that can't be ripped without playing through the entire game, so I can't do them. Sorry! Enjoy the Saturn versions, though! :)

We've got some updates today!

First up is a CleanRip version of Mario Kart Super Circuit for the GBA. You'll find it sounds MUCH better than the previous version. All it needs is tags!

Secondly. a double-whammy: The JP and USA versions of Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2! The Japanese version is sequenced audio, while the USA version is performed by a full orchestra. Both are fully tagged and ready to go!

Last up is Sega's arcade racer Super Hang-On. They continue their tradition of catchy tunes in racing games with this one.

That's it for now! :)

I tried to rip the arcade version of Sega Rally Championship, but M1 wouldn't log the wav files correctly, and some of the PCM samples were delayed, so it sounded all wrong. It was upsetting. :(

Awesome! I'll get tagging Super Circuit right away.

EDIT: Dragon Quest VIII Western is definatly louder than the OST versions, almost the same quality too! laughed at the Yangus "Cor Blimey!" voice sample at the end.

Super Circuit seems like a big improvement too, though I think the Ribbon Road music is too short for some reason. When I've fully tagged it I'll analyse it further.

OK guys, just a quick update for my early morning:

Crash Nitro Kart (PS2) - This one was a little bit of a pain because the music was separated into left and right channels which needed to be mixed together. Fun! Anyways, the soundtrack is fun and cartoony, is typical Crash Bandicoot fashion.

Heroic Legend of Arslan (SCD) - This EXTREMELY hard-to-find Mega CD disc has a lot of music in it, and it's pretty synthy for an orchestrated soundtrack, but it's not bad either.

I should have at least one tag update later today, and maybe some new ones if I'm not too busy. See ya!

Wasn't Aero the Acrobat originally for Sega Genesis? Maybe you could rip that version instead. The music shouldn't be that different especially if it's a direct port like Tales of the Abyss for 3DS being exactly the same as the US version of the PS2 game.

Boom! New stuff! But first, I'd like to say that Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA) CleanRip version is now tagged and ordered, thanks to MOV_Games. Also, Shy Guy Beach and Ribbon Road have been looped manually, as they didn't auto-loop in the original version I posted.

OK, so here's what's new:

Aero the Acro-Bat (SNES and Genesis) - Posted as a replacement to the GBA version that isn't rippable, and I could've sworn I'd done these already. Anyways, each version has some unique tracks, and the SNES seems to be the better of the two, even though the same composer did both of them himself.

Fantasy Zone II W (3DS) - The original tracks were provided by MentalHog, I just enhanced and edited the audio for loops and fades, and then tagged them. It's some great FM music, so check it out!

Pieces (SNES) - An obscure puzzle game I'd never heard of, and the music sounds... exactly how you'd expect SNES puzzle music to sound! I'm reminded mainly of Tetris Attack.

King of Fighters Kyo (PSX) - This was a request from patrick1287 from a while back, and I said I couldn't do it, but turns out I can! I was looking for streamed audio on the disc, but turns out it was sequenced... Makes sense because there's 3 and 1/2 hours of tunes in here, and they're all pretty good.

I wasn't able to rip Xenosaga Episode 1 due to the music being encrypted. :(

8 new albums and an update today! Yikes! Let's get to it:

First off, VGManiac456 tagged and ordered all 97 tracks of The Legendary Starfy for the DS! Nice job, dude! This is a great soundtrack, and it's awesome to have everything in order and named.

Now, on to the new stuff:

SNES

Spider Man and Venom in Maximum Carnage - You know the drill. You (hopefully) heard the theme song on the most recent episode of PixelTunes Radio. This is one rockin' soundtrack.

Spider Man and Venom in Separation Anxiety - This one almost sounds like a remix soundtrack of the previous game's music. Just listen to "Underground City." That's clearly the "Maximum Carnage" riff with a dance beat. Neat, right?

Cyber Spin - Here's a futuristic racer with a funky soundtrack from Junko Tamiya, who we also talk about a lot on my podcast. There's some great basslines and horn sections in this one. My favorite is "Peru GP."

Genesis

Tinhead - I've never heard of this one, and the music was composed by Paul Tonge, who coincidentally co-wrote Separation Anxiety. There's a lot of melody in the tunes, with some neat stereo effects.

PSP

Generation of Chaos - Pandora's Reflection - I don't get many PSP requests! This one is exclusively symphonic. I can't really judge the quality because I really don't like this kind of music, so hopefully it's good!

Arcade

1941 Counter Attack - A bit rough sounding, especially in the percussion department, but these songs are intense. Fitting for a shmup!

Strider - The classic arcade game soundtrack, also from Junko Tamiya. I've often mentioned how her soundtracks are very hard to pick out by ear because she doesn't really have a defining "sound," but I can hear a little bit of NES Bionic Commando in some of these tracks.

PSX

Bomberman World - You can clearly tell Shinya Yano's aggressive techno tracks from Jun Chikuma's more playful ones in this game. I actually tagged this one myself via YouTube! Are you guys proud of me? LOL

Alrighty guys, that's the loadout today! Enjoy!

The N64 was a very unique console compared to its competitors. While Sony and Sega opted to use the CD-ROM format allowing for high-quality streaming audio, the N64’s cartridges used sequenced music. This resulted in some very interesting uses of sound, and Mike and Ed dish out some examples of the N64’s finest musical offerings. From old favorites like Banjo Kazooie to amazing and obscure titles like Rakuga Kids, this episode is a great overview of the console’s excellent soundtracks!

I don't do X360 games and the Wii version is unrippable.

Here's some new stuff! :)

Rondo of Swords (DS) - For sequenced symphonic music, it's pretty good, I guess!

Jersey Devil (PSX) - For real symphonic music, it's pretty good... I guess?

1943 Kai - The Battle of Midway (Arcade) - I love the songs in this game. They're amazingly well-written. However, the TG16/ PC-Engine version sounds SO MUCH BETTER than these two yucky YM2203 chips!

Ghouls'n Ghosts (Arcade) - It's a classic! Spooky FM songs are always fun!

EDIT: Also, can't rip Digimon World 3 or Turbo Force.

Hello again! I know it's only been like 2 days, but i've got one or two rips that came to mind literally because of your last three posts or so causing me to remember them, and one which is part comparison to another rip from years ago.

Digimon World 3 may not be rippable, but maybe Digimon World 1 (PSX) is! One of the games from my childhood that I never really made much progress in due to it being balls hard, it's got some great songs, and some really unique sounding Battle themes. And don't get me started on Amida Forest Day, never have I loved a 40 second loop so much.

You don't get many PSP requests, eh? How about the last (so far) entry in the Medievil series, Medievil Resurrection? This remake of the first game may have butchered the story by making it too comical, but it has some AMAZING live orchestral remixes of tracks from the first game (and one from 2, too :P) by the original composers. Like DQ VIII, it had an official OST that was quiet and had the tracks stuck together.

Die Hard Trilogy (PSX & Saturn) is another oldie from my past. Weirdly after checking the music out on YouTube, I couldn't remember it, which is weird as most of it is really good Techno. Not sure which one of these two versions would have the higher quality music, maybe you could check out one or two tracks from each version (if it's rippable) to see which sounds best?

And finally, Ratchet & Clank (PS2). To cut to the chase, my all time favourite game. Ever. Unsurprisingly, it's also my all time favourite soundtrack, and Ratchet 2 and 3 aren't far behind. I've played through this game so many times you could blindfold me and play the first 0.5 seconds of a track and I would immediately know it. I've never heard music from any other videogame since that sounds quite like R&C 1 again, such a unique blend of techno, strings and the occasional ambience.

The deal with this rip is, the fansite Ratchet galaxy ripped Ratchet 1 years ago, at least before 2008. I wondered if a modern rip by you would have any minor improvements. Man, I'm gonna be able to tag this in seconds :P

...I got carried away at typing stuff.

And finally, Ratchet & Clank (PS2). To cut to the chase, my all time favourite game. Ever.

I love R&C! I didn't actually play it until the PS3 remakes came out, but it was a blast go through. I can already tell you that the soundtrack is gonna be a pain in the arse to make... the files are made so that there's one for the intro track, and then a second file with the rest of the song's looping part. So I'll have to figure out how to splice the intro onto the looping part, and making that repeat twice before the fade. If it's an epic amount of work, I may decline, but I'm pretty good at coming up with automated processes, so maybe I can figure something out. No promises, though!

Ew, not the PS3 "HD" collection! As someone who played the originals to death I couldn't stand the bugs that were in those versions: The music didn't loop properly, Al had holes in his model, Ratchet's Commando Suit helmet in 2&3 was oversized in Cutscenes etc. The standalone re release of Ratchet: Gladiator was even worse.

It's not to big of a deal if it ends up being too much work, I still have the old OST rip.

Lots of chiptunes today, with a decidedly wrestling theme! Here's what's new:

NES

Boomerang Kid - Part of the Quattro Adventure series. Allister Brimble's great tunes remind me a lot of Alberto Gonzalez's tracks. Grab it!

Adventures of Dizzy - Same thing here, except Brimble also worked with Gavin Raeburn and Matt Grey for a longer and more varied soundtrack.

SNES

Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling - Chousenshi in Tokyo Dome - The mysterious "Hamasan" wrote tracks that would sound equally at home on a colorful shmup as a wrestling game. Seriously, these arrangement remind me a lot of Phalanx.

WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling - Marshall Parker wrote 6 tracks for this game, and only one was actually used, but the rest ended up in that game's code anyways. He must've felt kind of bad about that. Anyways, remember how I was saying before that Junko Tamiy's stuff always sounded different for each game? Not Parker! Listen to Shadowrun on the SNES, and then listen to this. Can you tell the difference? LOL

Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling 2 - 3.4 Budoukan - Iku Mizutani, Kinuyo Yamashita, Hiroyuki Iwatsuki, and Haruo Ohashi? All in one game? HOLY COW. Just download this one. It's as good as it sounds.

Genesis

WWF Royal Rumble - Even MORE chip renditions of WWF entrance themes! Yay!(?)

Couldn't do WWF RAW for the 32X because games on that system that don't use only the YM2612 like Cosmic Carnage aren't supported.

Enjoy the stuff, guys!

The games on the quattro collections are ports of older Codemasters games. And most of them feature music in a similar style, done by the same composers. Check out e.g. Linus Spacehead, CJ's Elephant Antics, Super Robin Hood, BMX Simulator, there are some fantastic tracks in there. Very underrated music on the NES imho.

Guys. GUYS. New music.

SNES

Mickey & Donald - The Magical Quest 3 - MAri Yamaguchi worked on this, so it sound very similar to the other games in the series.

Breath of Fire 2 - A fun and long RPG soundtrack with a bunch of different styles.

Arcade

Double Dragon III - The Rosetta Stone - This one just sounds ugly. The synths are very harsh and the compositions are flat. Yuck.

PSX

Vigilante 8 - A super-eclectic collection of tunes from this combat racing game. There's a little something for everyone in here.

PS2

Crash Tag Team Racing - This is SUPER long (3 1/2 hours!) and features your standard Bandicoot style music coupled with the acapella voices of Spiralmouth. It works pretty well!

C-ya! ;)

I've got a bit of an experiment here for you to try out! You see I'm testing the waters with the ripping capabilities of Winamp! What I went a head and did was rip not Stider, but Stider and it's unoffical sequel to an mp3 file format for you to download that which I will provide the links on the bottom! The only thing I ask of you to do is tell me how the quality of the mp3s are! Also ED if your reading this please disregard that private message about Winamp considering that I fixed the problem already! :D

Oh sweet, I actually didn't realize that the PS1 game had different music from 2nd Offense. After a quick search, your rip was based on the Vigilante 8 70's Funk album (http://vgmdb.net/album/20132) (PS1 version) whereas the 2nd Offense soundtrack (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE08D318B85194095) (N64 version) is a bit more eclectic, featuring disco and hiphop[?] among other genres. This is fascinating.

It's silly and extremely fun. Only those that have played the ridiculous-ness of this game will appreciate it.

Has it really been nearly a month since my last post here? Boy, how time flies....

Aero the Acrobat (GBA) (Not Compatible)

Ah, 'tis a shame, but not exactly unexpected, either. Many of the GBA soundtracks I've requested may turn out to be incompatible, but I shan't give up!

Anyway, thanks for uploading the big console versions of the Aero games, at least. Though I notice that you didn't have Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, which is a spinoff of the Aero series. Don't worry though, as I already took care of that at my own thread. ;) Here's the SNES version, (http://www.mediafire.com/download/9keeby5vqaywz81/Zero+the+Kamikaze+Squirrel+%28SNES%29.rar) for anyone who's interested. Also be sure to check out Side Pocket for the SNES, which is done by the same composer!

Anyway, I have two requests, which are for..... you guessed it, GBA: Do you think an HQ rip of Asterix & Obelix: Bash Them All is possible? This is once again a work of Alberto Gonzalez, and he actually "remade" the soundtrack for the SNES Asterix & Obelix in a chiptune style here. I think I'd even be OK with the original fuzzy version of this if the HQ rip isn't possible....

Next is Goemon: New Age Shutsudou, which is.... well, another Goemon game, of course (though based on that strange "future" re-imagining of the franchise). The soundtrack for this ain't half-bad, either (I think I may even prefer a track or two of this version over the PS1 version's).

That's it for now. Thanks in advance! :)

Hello, ruiner. Thanks once again for those wrestling soundtracks last week. :)

My next requests are somewhat based on wrestling... again, lol.

- Battle K-Road: Multi Style Fighting Tournament (Arcade; not really a wrestling game, but this came out near the end of the Japanese shoot wrestling craze.)
- Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling '94: Battlefield in Tokyo Dome (SNES; the second New Japan Pro Wrestling game. Slightly better sounding than the first game, instrument wise.)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling (SNES; the first game in the All Japan Pro Wrestling series for the SNES.)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling Dash: Sekai Saikyou Tag (SNES; the second in the All Japan series. This is actually just an altered version of the first game. Also includes the Natsume Pro Wrestling title theme, since this game was altered for it's American release)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling: Fight da Pon (SNES; a humourous take on All Japan. Plays like a mix between wrestling, dice roll, and decision making)

Well, I hope you have a grand week, ruiner! :D

Oh yes, I'm quite familiar with Boogie Wings. I'll add it to the queue! Welcome back, BTW!

Here's the new stuff for today:

Dragon Slayer - Eiyuu Densetsu II (Genesis) - A bit similar to the first one, with more music by Mieko Ishikawa of the Ys series fame!

Digimon World (PSX) - According to the person who extracted the PSF files from the game's code, there may be some errors in the music due to the sequencing driver being from a different game. I'm not sure how drastic the errors are, never having played the game before, but if anything is very noticeable, please know there's nothing I can do to fix it.

Hunter - The Reckoning (Game Cube) - Some industrial hard rock. It's my favorite type of soundtrack, and it's done quite well!

Hunter - The Reckoning - Redeemer (Xbox) - Same composers, even more of the same type of music. Thumbs up!

I can't rip Hunter - The Reckoning - Wayward (PS2) because the music files are in a format that haven't been decoded yet. I tried everything I could.

Alrighty, enjoy them! :)

Hey Ruiner!

Would like to request another few soundtracks rips, if these are possible sometime...

Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels (3DO) - loved this game on the 3DO. It had some great atmosphere music in the intro sequences, and perhaps some other parts too, but I'm not sure if it can be ripped at all. I know a few sequences have been done with the narration removed. Curious as to what all can be grabbed out of it. If the 3DO version cannot be done, perhaps the Saturn of PSX versions may be better suited.

Note: Just checked a bit more online. Looks like the PC version and 3DO version shared similar music. The PSX version did not, at least intro wise. May be better or easier to extract from the PC version if 3DO cannot be done. Thx either way if you can do it.

Shadow Blasters (Genesis) - very old side scroller for the Genesis. Odd, old nostalgia.

Mercs (Genesis) - really fun vertical scroller.

Raiden Trad (Genesis) - love my shootemups.

Rolling Thunder 3 (Genesis) - another side scroller. Time to add the 3rd one next to the 2nd one you have! :) Love my Namco games.

Appreciate it, Thanks again for everything you do! :)

Here's today new stuff!

Gex (3DO) - There's some decent tunes here, but they're all in 11khz mono (upsampled to my regular mp3 quality) so they're a bit hard to listen to.

Super Godzilla (SNES) - I didn't care for this one too much. I think it was the low horn samples that kind of grated on my ears. Otherwise, it's a decent traditional Japanese action soundtrack.

Lethal Enforcers (Sega CD) - An enhanced version of the Arcade soundtrack with guitar work By Motoaki Furukawa. Good stuff.

MediEvil Resurrection (PSP) - Hey, it's a PSP game! It's kind of a spooky Tim Burton-esque affair.

Die Hard Trilogy - A great set of tunes by Stephen Root and Neil Palmer. You can hear the transitional musical elements between their older soundtracks and the Burnout series.

Enjoy them, guys!

I have the game, too. Unfortunately the music isn't CD Audio, it's chiptune that uses the Sega CD audio hardware, and it's not rippable without playing through the whole game and logging the VGM files. Even then, I'm pretty sure sound effects will interrupt the music.

Coincidentally, Ratchet & Clank uses the exact same technique. In chiptunes, it's relatively easy to have an intro verse that only plays once, and then a looping song. With streaming audio, two different tracks are needed to pull that effect off. I didn't even know Gex did that because I wasn't familiar with the soundtrack. Neat. Track 46 just plays that way, I guess. Tried a re-rip to the same effect.

And it's not worth your trouble providing me with VGM files because I have them all archived on my PC anyways. There's no need for passive-aggressiveness. Just PM me a text list (or two): The first list is the names of the songs in order as they appear in the folder. For example:

Game - Super Whatever Bros.

01_Stage 3
02_Stage 1
03_Stage 2
04_Title Theme
etc.

The second list (If necessary) is a list of the songs in an order that makes sense:

01_Title Theme
02_Stage 1
03_Stage 2
04_Stage 3
etc.

That's all there is to it! Hopefully that's clear, but feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Slap Happy Rhythm Busters - Wow. A fighter in the style of Jet Set Radio with music that rivals hideki Naganuma's amazing soundtracks. Totally worth a listen. Fully tagged them for ya, too!

Pepsiman - I didn't want to steal Cyquest's thunder, but there were a few streaming audio tracks (like the pre-stage dialogue and a little 30 second jingle) that were missed out, so I did my own version. I do credits Cyquest's rip for making me play the game and hearing those little extras, though! :)

Zanac X Zanac - A great electro soundtrack. I know there are title tags on that KH site and YouTube so maybe someone could help out with those? I simply ran out of time for the day.

Updates and new stuff today!

First up, Magma Dragoon has hopped on the "taggin' wagon" and fixed up the FM Towns version of Rayxanber and Super Air Zonk for the PCE CD! Thanks, dude!

Our two new uploads both set their own records today:

X2 - No Relief (PSX) sets a record for having the most different kinds of music: Sequenced, streaming, and CD audio all in one game! It's some good electronic stuff, too.

Banjo-Kazooie (N64) sets the size and length records: Over 9 hours of music, 1 gigabyte of data, and 258 songs. All the variations of every track is included. Grant Kirkhope must've worked really hard on this one!

Apologies, MOV_Games, but the audio files from Ratchet & Clank won't even line up correctly without a ton of editing on each track. The work it will take will put me way too behind on other requests, so I'm going to have to skip it. Sorry!

I'll be back tomorrow!

Alright, here's a wide variety of stuff today, just in time for the weekend.

Strider (Genesis) - Here's Junko Tamiya, rockin' the FM synth. I forgot how cool these tunes were.

Breath of Fire III (PSX) - A refreshingly modern take on the RPG soundtrack. The composers didn't rely too heavily on the classic sequenced symphonic stuff, and went with a more contemporary sound. I think it works really well.

Psycho World (MSX2) - A nice action soundtrack. Reminds me of Mega Man on the NES.

Psychic World (SMS) - Here's the Master System version of the same game! Some of the songs are similar, but there are some original tunes as well. Different composers, too.

Lenam - Sword of Legend (MSX2) - Kind of a simple soundtrack, but with catchy melodies.

Army Men - Green Rogue (PS2) - A very cinematic affair, with heavy percussion, strings, and piano. Some of the music was sampled at a very low rate on the disc, so the artefacting in the music can't be avoided. A little dithering and some noise reduction helped. It's the best I could get it to sound!

There were a few I struck out on, namely the X68000 versions of Lenam - Sword of Legend and Dynamite Duke. The sound file that was supplied to me for the latter game is missing the driver, so it won't work with the Hoot player. Also, Asterix & Obelix: PAF! Them All (GBA) and Goemon: New Age Shutsudou (GBA) aren't rippable either.

Enjoy the new stuff!

Funny, some of the music files in Crash of the Titans are structured the same way, at least judging from the rips I've seen. Most of the songs in that game are one single stream file, but some songs have an "intro part" stream accompanying them.

Guess what my request is, by the way.

Also, Asterix & Obelix: PAF! Them All (GBA) and Goemon: New Age Shutsudou (GBA) aren't rippable either.

Alas, once again I'm not surprised. Well, it was worth a try, though.

Okay, so I'll take a break from GBA requests for now. Instead, I'd like to shift to.... the NES! Seeing as you've uploaded Rockman 4 MI, I was wondering if you can add a few more Mega Man rom hack soundtracks? Specifically, some of the ones at the top of my list are Rockman no Constancy, Rockman 3 Burst Chaser, and Rockman 4 Burst Chaser X Air Sliding. If it helps, I found the NSF files for NC here, (https://sites.google.com/site/insectduel/insectduel-s-nsf-page) and the latter two here (http://rockman2ips.tripod.com/bgm13456.html) (a word of warning, though.... RM4 BCAC contains a chiptune remix of your dreaded Daytona USA, lol). The latter link even has the track sources listed (in Japanese, though). Here's (http://wayback.archive.org/web/20100613201625/http://datacrystal.org/wiki/Rockman_No_Constancy) an English track listing for No Constancy though, at least. ;)

How's things with Robots (either gba or ds)? Rippable or...

My bad! I tried both a few days ago. Surprisingly, not even the DS game was rippable! It had some pretty cool music, from what I saw on YouTube. Bummer.

Feel free to go request them from him! Maybe he has some magical powers that I don't. :)

I humbly request a rip of Armored Core: Silent Line Portable (PSP) since there's some menu music in this that isn't on the Silent Line soundtrack and Spikeout: Battle Street (XBOX) (a Shinji Hosoe and Ayako Saso joint! The actual game OST for this is basically impossible to get now unless you get it by auction...)

Sorry to be a bother, but any update with either of these requests, ruiner? Cheers, pal.

So, I've been tagging the songs from Gex. Track 28 is apparently glitched (it's supposed to be the track for Rez's Lair). I have no idea what the Track 48 is for (it's probably glitched as well).

I was also wondering if it would be possible to merge the split tracks.

Well, tag them first and I'll see what I can do. I won't know which tracks to join otherwise, as I'm not familiar with the game's music. As far as the glitched tracks go, that depends on if the files themselves on the disc have corrupted headers that the 3DO doesn't care about, but Windows does. If that's the case, then there's not much I can do. I'll try to convert them again and see how it goes.

EDIT: Reripping the files ends up with the same result. Ripping the European version of the game results in no playable audio files at all. There's not much more I can do.

Here's some goodies for you!

First up, there's a whole bunch of Wrestling soundtracks from the Zen Nihon and Shin Nihon series. With the exception of the first title, the others are all composed by Kinuyo Yamashita, Iku Mizutani, Hiroyuki Iwatsuki, and a few other collaborators, so there's a very similar sound between them all. They are as follows:

- Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling '94: Battlefield in Tokyo Dome (SNES)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling (SNES)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling Dash: Sekai Saikyou Tag (SNES)
- Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling: Fight da Pon (SNES)

Outside of that, there's Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas - The Pumpkin King for the GBA, which is a very thin and simple rendition of the movie score.

Lastly, there's Tao's Adventure - Curse of the Demon Seal for the DS, and it's REALLY good. There's an Arabian feel to it, and all of the tracks are solid and a joy to listen to. Nobody has the composers listed, and I read that they're listed in the credits, but I couldn't find any credit movies on YouTube. So, if you've played the game or know who the composer is, please let me know!

Battle K-Road (Arcade) is going to take a while, so it's on the backburner for now, as I don't have the time currently.

Enjoy!

All of the music is compressed into a big file (which is actually called "bigfile" LOL) and there's only a script available to unpack the 3DO version. I tried it on the PSX and Saturn versions but the CRC is different so it wouldn't work. I'm sure the other versions probably have higher quality sound, too, which is why I tried those versions first.

I updated the Japanese PC section into subsections now... All of the PC-98, PC-88, X68000 etc soundtracks are in their own sections. Makes things a little more organized. Along with that update is a tagged/ ordered/ remastered version of the Xak - The Art of Visual Stage (MSX2) soundtrack!

Also new in the OP is Spikeout - Battle Street (Xbox) with a bunch of tracks by Shinji Hosoe and Ayako Saso of Sampling Masters fame!

We've also got Armored Core - Silent Line Portable (PSP), a great selection of electronic dance music in really good quality.

Look man, I'm sorry I denied your request to put your rips on my page, but this is a free forum! You're perfectly welcome to start your own thread! And it's not worth your trouble providing me with VGM files because I have them all archived on my PC anyways. There's no need for passive-aggressiveness. I really appreciate that you'd like to help, but the only help I ask for is tagging albums from games that I've never played before. Just sit back, relax, and request some soundtracks that you may not be able to do yourself. I'll take care of the rest. :)

Sorry if it took me a while to respond, but I will say that I was most defiantly in the wrong! In all honesty I absolutely love what you have done with this form and the community that surrounds it and I think that's very commendable that you've been able to take request for almost two years now! But alas we gotta face the facts that eventually you'll get burnt out on the whole request thing due to you being just one guy doing all of this for the community mixed with the ever increasing request rate out numbering your rate of releasing game rips boggling you down to the point of having to quit could lead this form to possibly die out that which I love much to see happen! So maybe if you a few people here and there help you out in the ever growing request list could in the long run save you some time. work load, and sanity especially if it's a ost that you can't really rip but another person has the ability to aka Fantasy Zone 2 W! But the way that I went about was a bit like a child not getting what they want that I do apologize for that though the I think that's more of angst Teenage side considering that I'm actually 16, but that still no excuse! Though I hope I addressed somethings for you and hopefully we are cool!

Now for a simple Request/Update to a classic soundtrack being Ducktales for NES but it's just one track being from the prototype version being Transylvania! The thing about Transylvania in the prototype version of Ducktales is it's drastically different from the final release, but the prototype asides having a slower moon theme is practically untouched so if you could rip Transylvania (Beta) via NsfPlay, and reupload Ducktales for nes with the file in it that would be highly appreciated! Also there's actually a Mega Man 9 & 10 nsf file that you can actually do a stereo of that which is surprisingly very close to the original despite not being official nor the actual games being actually 8 bit

Also real quick, did you know that there was a version of Snake Rattle and Roll for the Genesis?! Sadly it was only released only in Europe but you can they're a rom of it floating around as well as a vgz file that you can download at Project 2612 right now though It's probably David Wise's weakest Genesis soundtrack out of all four of the title he did but it still has some charm to it at least! Now for links!

Have you ever tried the PC version?

I have. All the music files are encrypted similarly. The music is also mono and super low quality in the PC version, so it's not really going to make a difference anyways. Not to worry though!

3DO

So, thanks to Magma Dragoon's helpful tagging, the Gex tracks are now joined, tagged, and ordered. That was quite an ordeal for some really lo-fi music, but since you can't find it anywhere else on the web, I guess it was worth it.

Speaking of rare soundtracks, Space Hulk - Vengeance of the Blood Angels (OMG what an awesome title) is also new in the OP! It's a very atmospheric collection of tunes with lots of cyber-tastic sound effects and electronic drums.

Genesis

Mercs - This soundtrack contains both Manami Matsumae's aggressive arcade version, and Yoshiaki Kashima's sleeker, more dancey home console version.

Shadow Blasters - A rare Korean-produced soundtrack. The music reminds me of action titles on the more niche systems like the PC-88, but I'm not a big fan of the instrumentation.

Rolling Thunder 3 - The composers for this one are unknown; they only go by "Rose Boy" and *ahem* "Dick Boy" in the credits. Too bad, because it's really good!

Raiden Trad - Fancy shmups songs with kind of a rock ballad feel to them.

That's it for the day! I'm off of work for the rest of the week starting tomorrow, so my updates may be less frequent... or more frequent depending on how bored I am at home. :)

Do you by chance have a digital copy of Scott Pillgram vs the World and After Burner Climax on hand, if so let me know and I can tell you a something that you did or didn't know about depending on if you watched last week Game Sack or not/Heard about from some other source! Also can't for the Newest Pixel Tunes installment coming up on Wednesday that which makes me think what if you and Mike did something similar to what Game Sack does in terms of theme? Now just to let you know that these are just Suggestion for future episode ideas like for instance it would be cool if you guys decided to a Same game different episode where you take the song of a two versions of a game that are the same but sound differ from each other like for instance Popful Mail has Five versions of the same game with the same music that spreads across different platforms like the Super Famicom to the PC-88 computers, and even a arranged version on the PC Engine CD! But again that just my thoughts what could be a topic that you guys could puritanically tackle sometime in the future and if you can please let me know what you think about the Episode Suggestion! No, no PS3/ X360/ Jag section anytime soon. I don't even think there's a way to rip Jaguar sound files at this point. The episode we'll be posting tomorrow will be a special one, as my brother will be a guest host! The episode after that WILL be a "Same Song, Different System" episode too! I don't even think there's a way to rip Jaguar sound files at this point.

Well since you mentioned it there is a way that you can actually rip .MOD files that is what the jaguar uses by utilizing a special program named OpenMPT that which I provide in the description if anyone's interested! But Jaguar osts is not the only thing this bad boy can do, this program also allows you to rip .s3m and .it files by extracting the files using either the Lossless, Lossy, or even for the hell of it midi option though I don't know why you would want to use midi? But non of the less there's a way to rip jaguar games as long as you have the .MOD files required however the only ones worth while I saw was Tempest 2000, Atari Karts, Zool 2, and Bubsy in fractured furry tails so I wouldn't blame you if you skipped the Jaguar all together despite having a few excellent soundtracks with a sea of there not rip yet or completely mediocre osts! Alright it's time for links again!

Here are a few things before the new PTR comes out tomorrow!

First up, Magma Dragoon has tagged/ re-ordered the amazing Zanac X Zanac (PSX) soundtrack. Thanks again, sir!

Now, here's some new stuff:

First up is Bonanza Brothers for both the Genesis and Arcade. Same composer worked on both, so it's more-or-less a direct port. It's very interesting to see how the music was handled on the YM2612 and YM2151! Personally, I like the Genesis version better.

Next is the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden, otherwise known as Shadow Warriors in some markets. It's pretty bad. I remember ripping this game when I needed a track for the "sound-alike" episode of the podcast, and I decided not to even post it because I didn't like it. But, now it's a request, so up it goes!

Finally, Jak & Daxter - The Lost Frontier (PSP) which is a few hours' worth of grand cinematic music partially composed by James Dooley, who's a well-known film scorer.

That's it for now... enjoy!

Thanks for all the soundtracks, but a few of them have just been tagged with the album name as the track name. Is there any chance that you could post the track lists for "Star Fox Command (DS)", The Legend of Zelda Four Swords (Anniversary Edition) [DS] and Mega Man & Bass [GBA]? It seems a shame that there are a few tiny mistakes to ruin these perfect rips.

PS Could you also add the track list for "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords" and "Golden Sun: The Lost Age" as well? Thanks.

That's because us lot who request the rips usually tag the Albums, not Ruiner. In my case I cannot really tag many soundtracks from games I don't know. Talking of tagging, I still haven't done Medievil 2 & Resurrection yet... whoops.

I only wish Ruiner could have tags like "Track 01" "Track 02" instead of soundtrack's name in each track when titles are unknown

I can do that, if the majority of people feel it would work better than the album name. I do it the way I do it now because it's easier to do an automated script with the same name per file, but I can figure something out for your suggestion. Plus, if I do "track 1," if you have a music player that doesn't give an album name like some Android players do, you'd have no idea which game it was from if the song comes up on shuffle.

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else in this thread (I did try the search function!), but am I crazy, or are all the N64 tracks (or at least Super Mario 64 and the Zeldas) running too slow? I've tried the files on multiple media players, and they seem to be running about 10-20% slower than they should be. Is this because of a conversion from 48KHz to 44.1KHz, or maybe some other codec problem?

Thanks!

ruiner9
06-05-2015, 01:49 AM
Not a codec problem. It's the actual emulation of the song. I didn't even notice, but then I played my Mario 64 rip alongside the game running on real hardware. This particular rip is from 6 months ago, and the USF plugin I used has been updated many times since then, so it's possible that the timing is more accurate now. I'll experiment with it a bit.

Here are a few new albums:

PlayStation

Nightmare Creatures - A combination of orchestral and gothic rock. I like this stuff a lot.

Cool Boarders - Some dance music with some surf rock, and a bit of funk. Fun tunes!

NES

Rockman no Constancy and Rockman 3 Burst Chaser - OK, so these are hacks of Mega Man games. I couldn't tag Rockman no Constancy because the provided list wasn't in the same order as the songs are in the nsf file, and I was only familiar with two tracks out of the whole OST (enough to know that they weren't titled correctly).

Rockman 4 Burst Chaser X Air Sliding was also requested with a link to the download, but the nsf file isn't actually on that page. It says that it can't be ripped from the game. So, sorry 'bout that.

Oh, hey, does anyone have a link to an ISO of Fox Junction (PSX)? You can PM me if you do. The album was requested I can't find it anywhere.

Knivesman

Btw (1) Nightmare Creatures II has awesome basslines
Btw (2) oh, and Cool Boarders series shares composers with that lovely Rising Zan game.

Well, that's a bummer.... but out of curiosity, how were you able to rip Minus Infinity? Because according to that page, that game isn't rippable, either.... yet you have it uploaded in this very thread. Come to think of it, the rip here is even a little outdated, since the hack's latest update added some extra modes with a few "new" tunes thrown in for good measure. But as far as BCXAC's music is concerned, it even has a youtube playlist, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiEa9ETXihQ&list=PL3IswJa88k1S1UJTDIG4hNVMAOyTj2tsI) so some ripping method must exist..... eh, maybe I'll look into it myself, if I have the time.

Anyway, in the meantime, I'd like to request two more MM hack rips if that's alright, both of these being from MM5: Wily's Dream Space and Dood in Wily's Last (you have NO idea how much I love that second title, BTW XD). Thankfully, both DO have their NSFs available in that page I linked to! ;)

ruiner9

Minus Infinity has an nsf, actually. Somebody on the nesdev forums ripped it themselves. It's at the bottom of this page:

This is the only Rockman hack on that site, though.

Game Boy

Bionic Commando

PSP

Cars - I couldn't do the Wii or PS2 versions, so this one has the same music. I had to omit the licensed tracks.

Arcade

PSX

Shadow Master

PS2

I have two new requests for you Ruiner.

First is V-Rally (PSX). A heads up, I can hear that the songs have notable clicks at the start, so you may have to cut them out. Also, the names for the songs are actually given in the sound options which is helpful.

The second is Sly Raccoon (PS2). I found a decent rip a while back, but a few songs had speech/SFX in them. I would love a better quality version from you if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, ruiner! It's warm out here where I live, meaning summer has begun, lol. :P

Anyways, here are two requests to start my week off...

- Universal Soldier (SNES; a shamelessly altered version of Turrican II, with the majority of the tracks all arranged versions of Chris Hulsbeck's songs from the Amiga version).
- Xak II: Rising of the Redmoon (actually, there are two versions: the NEC PC-88 and the NEC PC-98. Not sure which is good, but if possible, I would request both versions just to hear the differences sound-wise)

Well, that's all I can think for now. Have a good week, ruiner! :D

Here's a few things. Also, I've decided that I'm only going to be doing "real" video game music from now on. So if it's a fan game or a remake soundtrack, I'm not going to do it. I don't feel it's worth the effort, and the majority of them aren't very good.

That said, Mega Man 9 NES Remake is the last soundtrack like that which I'm uploading. The Mega Man 10 Remake is pretty bad, and there's no tags or timed music, so I don't feel that 3 hours of work for a sub-par version of music you can download easily on the internet is worthwhile. MarvelB, feel free to request additional soundtracks to replace the Mega Man fangames you've requested, I'll save your spot in the queue!

Also, the DuckTales NES game has been updated with cleaner tags and the prototype track which was requested.

Lastly, Snake Rattle 'N' Roll for the Genesis. I've never liked Dave Wise's stuff on this system as much as the NES, but this isn't too bad.

Been super busy lately, so there's been a lack of updates, but hopefully I'll have some more up soon! :)

So, the rom hacks are a no-go, eh? Very well then, I'll take care of them myself when I have the opportunity. Thanks for hearing me out on them in the first place, though! :)

Anyways, as for replacement requests..... I really shouldn't, considering my luck with GBA requests so far, but do you think you can look into Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure? Otherwise, I also wonder if you can nab either of the arcade sequels to Bubble Bobble? Specifically, I'm talking about either Bubble Symphony or Bubble Memories. That's all I can think of now, really. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys! Updates and new stuff today!

First off, the amazing VGManiac456 has tagged and ordered Mega Man X5 and X6! Magma Dragoon literally just sent me the tags for Mega Man X3 so I'll have that up tomorrow. Did you guys coordinate? LOL

Here's the new stuff:

Wii

Another Code R - A Wii game! Amazing! This one's nice and... I don't know, fluffy sounding? Very soft tones, pianos, and pads. The file names on the disc lent themselves to simple tags, but if they can be improved, send them my way!

NES

Pac-Man - Um, here's 15 seconds of music from Pac-Man. Kind of a weird request, but whatevs!

SMS

Alex Kidd in Miracle World - Tokuhiko Uwabo has such a wonderful way with melodies. SOOO catchy. These would make great ringtones, you know?

Arcade

Monster Maulers - Coincidentally, this game is VERY closely related to the theme of Episode 38. Konami arcade brawlers around this time had such awesome music!

Bubble Bobble - Taito's original classic. Listen to how that catchy BB melody got started!

SNES

Congo's Caper - Given the composers and the publisher, I expected this soundtrack to sound a lot like Joe & Mac, and I wasn't that far off! It's a little more melodic in parts than that game's soundtrack.

Cho Aniki - Bakaretsu Rantou Hen - A weird soundtrack for a weird game. Hope you guys like grunting! LOL

Anyways, that's it for now. I'll have Mega Man X3 completed tomorrow at some point. Cheers!

Splatoon - ruiner9's Direct Digital Conversion (FLAC & MP3)

Composers: Toru Minegishi, Shiho Fujii

Here's my 98 track, 2 hour conversion of Splatoon, thanks to Crediar's source files upload just a few hours ago. I've tagged the tracks to the best of my ability based on the filenames on the disc, but it could certainly use a cleanup (better tags and a better order) if anyone's more familiar with the title, since I don't own it yet.

I would like to request a complete music rip from the 3DS video game Epic Mickey 3, the other games had soundtrack releases, but this one unfortunately didn't.

I would also like to request a complete music rip from the PS2 game DT Racer. The first game, not the second one. It has some groovy tunes...all licensed music though, I don't know if that's an issue, because most of the music is near impossible to find, I think most of them are unreleased.

Salutations! Enjoy these fine soundtracks:

Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA) - Norio Hanzawa writes another great score. There was a plan to add homages to Sega arcade games in this title, but they were scrapped for some reason. Hanzawa had already written arrangements of them and hid them in the game. See if you can recognize a few!

Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (GBA) - Finally, a GBA request I can do! It's pretty good, too.

Bubble Symphony (Arcade) - A light and cartoony affair, including a nice reworking of the original tune.

Hope you like 'em!

Here's today's stuff:

Arcade

Bucky O'Hare - OK, I know this is a Norio Hanzawa soundtrack, but ugh... it hardly even sounds like music! It's so jumbled and dissonant. Is it just me, or is this almost unlistenable?

F-1 Grand Prix - Some energetic FM synth tunes.

F-1 Grand Prix Part II - Very similar in style to the prequel, but with an upgraded soundchip which adds some depth to the tracks.

Dreamcast

Charge 'n Blast - Some surprisingly good electronic jams. I like this one a lot!

Here's some stuff I can't do:

Bubble Memories - Technically playable in M1, but the sound emulation on those chips is terrible and the songs sound awful.

Rabio Lepus - Must be done in-game, if possible (ask nx666)

Storm Blade - See above.

Our new albums today are.....

Universal Soldier (SNES) - This is a beta version, as the actual game never came out on the SNES. The music may or may not be placeholder music, but one fact remains... it's AWFUL. Listen at your own risk.

Need for Speed V-Rally (PSX) - Some garage-band style rock, as well as a few other styles. It's decent, but some of the instrumentation is very loose, like the guys didn't have enough practice playing the song before the recording.

Touch Detective 2 and a Half (DS) - Finally, something worth a listen! This sounds pretty rich for a sequenced song, and a lot of the tunes have a nice smoky film noir feel to it. Good stuff.

Here's a few I can't do:

Touch Detective (DS) - The song files just won't rip correctly. I get corrupted files every time.
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonis (PS2) - Unable to access the disc's file system.

Now, Xak II is like 50 tracks that need to be recorded in realtime, so it's going to take a while. Summer's a very busy time for me, so I'm not sure when I'll have the chance. I'll keep it on the list, though. Both PC-98 and PC-88 versions were requested, but they both have the same YM2203 soundtrack, so I'll naturally only do one of them.

Enjoy!

Oh yeah! Completely forgot too, the AMAZING Golden Axe C64 track in the podcast is from nx666's collection... man, his stuff sounds really good! (Jeroen Tel AND nx666 LOL)

Hey mom! Look! I got mentioned in the same sentence as Jeroen Tel.

Ah, so that Sly 1 rip I have has SFX because it's obviously an in game recording. Shame. Thanks a lot for V-Rally, I'll check it out now. Weird that it's titled Need for Speed in the US, It's V-Rally '97 Championship Edition over here, and has nothing to do with EA.

Now I do have a new request in mind, and I hope this one can be done. Destruction Derby 2 on PSX. Now, the soundtrack is technically sorta licenced, but in the way that the two bands were local ones found close to the UK Office that the game was created at, and both bands have almost no info on the Internet and have since disappeared.

I see. I've always been patient when it comes to these long waits, so I wouldn't mind waiting, ruiner. Because of this, whenever I make a request and until whatever Xak II comes out, I'll request two or three things for now on.

Anyways, I'll try and enjoy Universal Soldier, lol. Thanks!! :D

Weird that it's titled Need for Speed in the US, It's V-Rally '97 Championship Edition over here, and has nothing to do with EA.

EA published the game in the US, and they decided to add it to their NFS line to try and increase sales, as rally racing is nonexistent here. The first and second game carried the NFS tag, but the third was just V-Rally 3.

Whoa, so you managed to get DB Advanced Adventure after all!? Well hot dang! Thanks a lot for Bubble Symphony, too! :)

Bubble Memories - Technically playable in M1, but the sound emulation on those chips is terrible and the songs sound awful.

Ah, is that so. Well then, I suppose I'll search for another means, th-

I have a rip of Bubble Memories that I could post, just needs to be tagged.

Well, hot diggity-dang! Isn't this a surprise! My hat goes off to both Ruiner and you, nx666! ;)

Anyway, new request time! I hope I'm not getting carried away here since DB was ripped, but I have more GBA stuff on my list here: First off, is a rip of Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan Advance doable? I just uploaded the PSP and DS entries for that series to my thread, and I'd like to grab the GBA version too, if it's available.

Next, I'm also curious if any of the GBA Power Pro Kun Pocket games can be ripped, as well? There's a whole bunch of entries to that particular series (the GBA editions alone go from 1-7, not counting the spinoff titles), but I guess I'd like to request the earlier titles first, if applicable. Maybe just the first two games for now (they're bundled together, after all).

So after a recent episode of the Super Marcato Bros. podcast dedicated to the Game Boy, I had a couple of requests for soundtracks that aren't already in the GB/GBC section:

Action Man: Search for Base X (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNdjGKuZNEM)
Power Rangers: Time Force (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Inhv2griWAA)

Ruiner might have took care of those already by now, but if not, then I already have those two soundtracks uploaded over at my thread if you're interested. :)

Here's two new soundtracks for the day:

Fossil Fighters Champions (DSi Version) (DS) - The sequel to the original of the same name, this one's got about 3 hours of really good DS music. Like the original as well, it could use some tagging cleanup. I've taken care of some of the tag abbreviations to make them a bit easier to read, at least.

Bomberman X68000 - A lovely selection of tunes from Jun Chikuma herself! There's some great interpretations of the Bomberman themes here that I haven't heard anywhere else, so it's definitely worth checking out.

Enjoy! I probably won't be posting anything else today as I'll be out and about for work. See ya!
