Tally for New/ Updated Albums in December: 120!
...And here I was, thinking it was going to be a light month. :)

Anyways, VGManiac456 is back with retags for Under Defeat on the DC and Steel Empire on the GBA. Both have some sweet tunes, so grab 'em if you haven't yet!

I've also uploaded the NES Remix Collection in the Wii U section! I've tagged it to the best of my abilities using the on-disc filenames and my own experience with the the first one. I don't have the Collection version on disc, so anything from 2 and whatever might be unique to the Collection version, I'm not familiar with. If anyone can improve the tags, feel free! Also note that since the games are emulated, there's no pure NES music in the album It's mainly the menu screens.

Now, some requests:

SNES

Batman Forever - This is the first and only time you'll ever me describe a Follin soundtrack as "meh." It's just too symphonic for me. But hey, it IS rather well done for the style it's in!

Bounty Sword - This reminds me a lot of the Square SNES RPGs. Fans of Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy should dig this.

Kidou Butoden G-Gundam - Kind of a minimalist rock-infused Japanese action soundtrack. If that makes any sense.

Shien's Revenge - Asian-influenced symphonic music, some of which is quite intense.

Xardion - I'm pretty sure this uses a soundfont based on either F-Zero or Hyper-Zone. It sounds very familiar, yet different. A lot of it has a nice groove to it.

- Aaaand knowing that crediar has ripped the files from certain games, and you have already done DK Tropical Freeze from those files... Could you please do Pikmin 3 too?

This will be a big project. There's a LOT of music, and some of the tracks have multiple channels like Nintendo World and Hyrule Warriors. If I can get it done, I'll certainly need someone to tag it, as I don't own the game!

That's all for now!

:)

Now I can start tagging albums again, so don't worry about Pikmin 3 if you end up doing it ;)

There are already some incomplete rips out there, the songs are perfectly recognizable (not like Nintendo Land with those 5 variations of the same theme and mysterious jingles) and I can easily play through the entire game again (it's, unfortunately, shorter than it should have been...), so it should be an easy one :)

Happy New Year to all my favorite Gaming Music Peeps!!!! Glad to see everyone survived. :)

Ruiner, I'd like to request a few rips if possible:

my first four - Good 'ol Genesis shmups from my growing up days. I love 'em, I miss 'em. Ah Nostalgia...

Atomic Robo-Kid (Genesis)
Phelios (Genesis)
Viewpoint (Genesis)
Grindstormer (Genesis)

Also, can you rip this one:

Aldynes (NEC Supergrafx)

I think you did 1941 Counter Strike for Supergrafx, but you happened to list it under Turbografx (makes sense). Can you do other Supergrafx games? If so, then cool! :)

As always, Thanks in advance. Appreciate the gaming ripping efforts as always! :)

Happy New Year to you, too! Yes, I can do most Supergrafx games... Similar to the Game Gear/ Master system concept, the SGX had the same sound chip as the TG16, as well as the FM Towns, PC-FX, etc. So they'll all go under the same header. I should probably notate that as "SGX" in the filename, though...

Hey again Ruiner. I have another request straight from my childhood for you, Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit on PSX. I'm kinda surprised you don't have this already since you have done both NFS 1 and NFS 4, and in my opinion it has the best OST of any NFS game to date.

Now, although this OST HAS been ripped before years ago and is available on the Internet, a few of the songs from every copy I've found have ALWAYS been too short for some reason, namely Hydrus 606 and Aquilia 303. There was also an official OST, but because in game the songs are Interactive like Killer Instinct 3, they have several different parts to them and naturally some were cut in the OST versions.

Anyway, I really hope this one is rippable!

EDIT: I would also like to request both Burnout 1 & 2, either the PS2 or XBOX versions. Unlike Burnout 3 and beyond, these two have unlicensed OST's as it was before EA could get their grubby hands on the franchise and pump it full of "EA Trax". Ugh. At least they featured most tracks from these two games in Paradise, albeit with wrong song names and the absence of Whiplash, one of the best songs from Burnout 1.

Shouldn't be a problem with NFS 3 and Burnout 1. I'll have to look deeper into Burnout 2 before I make any promises on that one. And I agree... I love the Burnout series and it's music! I've played them all to completion. My older son got really into Paradise, so much so that after playing my 100% done save on the 360, he started back at 0% to unlock it all himself. :)

Here's today's goodies!

PS2

War of the Monsters - This is epic symphonic music, most of which reminds me of "Flight of the Valkyries" of the God of War soundtracks.

GBA

Mario Party Advance - Nobody requested this one, but since I was ripping some GBA roms, I figured I'd do it, too. It sounds great!

Uchuu Daisakusen Chocovader - Uchuu kara no Shinryakusha - A lot of this has kind of a glitchy, urban vibe to it. I like it!

Minimoni - Onegai Ohoshi-sama - Very cartoony. Full of fanfares. I just picture chibi animals running around when I play these tunes.

Monster Maker 4 - Killer Dice - Piano sonatas. Tension-filled orchestrations. Castlevania-inspired action music. And a little techno. Wow.

Hajime no Ippo - The Fighting - OMG I've actually played this game! It's from Treasure, and there's an English patch available for it. It's a boxing game, so the music is very hip-hop inspired.

Boboboubo Boubobo - Ougi 87.5 Bakuretsu Hanage Shinken - The game is as weird as the title is. It's based on a manga dealing with villains trying to steal hair from people. You have a giant yellow afro. You're going to save the world. Yup. Told ya. As for the music, expect something that sounds like it came from a comedic action-oriented anime, and you'll be on the right track.

OK, going to try to finish up Star Cruiser II for the PC-98 tomorrow. I'll do more if I have the time!

Wow, that's nice to hear, ruiner. I liked the original Star Cruiser's music (both the PC-88 and X68000 versions; have yet to hear the Genesis and X1 versions, though), so this should be a nice listen to. :)

Another request :)
The three games of the Pokemon Ranger series, all for DS: Pokemon Ranger, Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia and Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs; Pokemon Trozei, also for DS; and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. They all have some impressive scores, specially the Ranger games, and the rips I can find are all crappy. :P

Maybe you don't like Pokemon, but the quality of its songs is undeniable. I reserve PMD Blue Rescue Team for another request btw ;)
Please and thanks in advance!

Also looking for the Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Please help, anyone!

BONUS! ALBUM PICTURE! :D
Yup, I'll also include a beautiful cover for the albums I tag from now on.

https://db.tt/N7vkC3oZ

Ugh, I've been more than 3 hours with this, I'll take a break now... :P

Thank you! I'll get them up tomorrow! If it's not too much trouble, It's actually easier for me if you send these in a PM. That way, I get a different notification for it and it won't get buried in the thread, and it keeps it kind of "behind the scenes." Also, VGManiac456 sends his via PM and it's nice to just have all the tagging stuff come through like that. If you wanna post that you sent me tags in a PM in the thread, too that's totally fine. :) If for some reason sending a PM is really big hassle, I'll understand, too. I'm just trying to stay organized to minimize request filling time and mistakes!

Also looking for the Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Please help, anyone!

I'll add it to the queue! I should have it up over the weekend or early next week. :)

TIME FOR TODAY'S RELEASES!

Castlevania - Lament of Innocence for the PS2 - MarvelB was right: You can't have Curse of Darkness without Lament of Innocence! Here's the other Michiru Yamane classic.

Nintendo Power Menu Program for the SNES - A while back someone requested the Game Boy memory cart music and it was totally awesome. So good, in fact, that I played it on our Game Boy Spotlight podcast right at at the beginning of the episode! Here's the SNES equivalent of that. It's just one tune, but it's really good. I love the heavy bassline!

Star Cruiser II for the PC-98 - Even though this uses the simpler YM2203 (OPN) sound chip, it's still pretty freakin' good! This one took me a while, as I had to record, tag, and time it all manually, so you better all like it! :) Check out the "Area 2" track, especially. It's pretty rockin'.

Fantasy Zone II - The Tears of Opa-Opa - A silly little game that sounds like it came out of a Sega Master System. Enjoy 15 minutes of goofy wavetable synth!

Alrighty! Enjoy the tunes! See ya tomorrow!

Over 100 pages in the thread, and over 100k views! Am I "internet famous" now? And my mom said I'd never amount to anything! HAH! ;)

This morning, we have updates to some great albums:

MagnetMan34 has provided up with tags and a re-order for Mario Party Advance, as well as some sweet album artwork! Thank you, my friend!

VGManiac456 has tagged Elebits - The Adventures of Kai & Zero in the DS section, as well as the recently-uploaded Castlevania - Lament of Innocence for the PS2. Coincidentally, both were composed by Michiru Yamane! Craziness!

Look for a few requests to pop up later in the day...

Genesis

Mr. Nutz
Terminator 2 - Judgement Day
T2 - The Arcade Game

Master System

Teddy Boy

DS

Drawn to Life - This one is pretty well-tagged, since the file names in the rom were easy to transcribe. It will need some help with the order though. I suspect Drawn to Life - the Next Chapter will be similar when I do it tomorrow.

See ya'll later!

Well yes, I was going to use the same method, so I doubt mine would sound any better than yours. As far as the MP3 version goes, there's a whole bunch of different ways to make MP3 files, so I'll do a few test songs and compare it to yours, and see how it sounds. If your MP3 version sounds good, and you'd like me to host it for you, I'd gladly add it to my collection with full credit to you. :)

I tag like this: first I put the names of each song in the order of the original rip, say if there are blank or duplicate songs so those are removed, and then reorder the rest of the songs. For example, taking your rip:

01. NTR-B3RE-USA-0000
02. NTR-B3RE-USA-000a
03. NTR-B3RE-USA-000b
04. NTR-B3RE-USA-000c

could be (for example):

01. A
02. B
03. C
04. D

in the order the rip is, but then the correct order would be, for example:

01. B
02. D
03. A
04. C

And finally I send ruiner a PM with the tag info so he can tag the albums and reupload them corrected.

However, since you want to tag your lossless version too, I could send the tags to both of you, so you can tag your lossless album and ruiner can tag the mp3 album (same tags and album cover, of course) :)

Great. So let me see if I understand this correctly: in this case, the way you will be tagging the soundtrack will be in a way that I can simply reuse your tags on my lossless version? You aren't going to remove any tracks or change the orders before numbering?

Correct, I make two lists: the first one will have all the tracks of the rip in the order they are, no numbering yet, here I only correctly rename them just the way they are. And then I number/reorder them in a second list.

The thing about this is that I have to go song by song, find somewhere a song that matches and has the correct name and rename it. With 10 tracks it is done in 15 minutes, but with 60 or more it takes a pretty long while!

Ohh thanks, but for now I can work with the 192 kbps version. It's just for tagging, when I'm done I'll have to redownload the tagged album again anyways :)

Yeah, I know what you mean! I was going to do that myself but it honestly will take far too long and I don't have much free time.

There exists another mp3 soundtrack on this site in 128 kbps that has names, though I can't speak for how accurate the names are. If you can't find it I'll link it to you, kinda preoccupied with something else at the moment and just wanted to let you know!

Yeah, I mainly tag albums because in the end I also want to have a nicely tagged soundtrack for myself xD
And if in the process I can help other people have that too, even better.

Hmm I'll keep that in mind, if I have trouble tagging any song it could be handy. Thanks!

I usually just rely on YouTube for retagging, either through gameplay (longplays are really helpful in this case scenerio) or OSTs that have been uploaded on there. The process still takes awhile, but it works out and that's what matters, right?

MagnetMan34

Yeah, pretty much. I even play the game myself sometimes with nowhere-to-be-found-but-100%-heard-it-in-game tracks. I could tag the last song in Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones that way lol

Hey, ruiner, what's up? Enjoying Star Cruiser II so much that I think it is next to the first Star Cruiser in terms of musical brilliance. :D

Anyways, for this request, I will veer away from the SNES high that I've been on lately and go for a mixed bag here:

- Dahna: Megami Tanjou (Sega Genesis; a Conan-eqsue game in which you play a female warrior. The music is surprisingly good)
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Sega Genesis; surprised that no one has requested this version of MMPR, so I am doing that right now, lol)
- P-47: The Phantom Fighter (PC Engine; a good port of this arcade classic, with an average soundtrack. Includes some exclusive tunes new to this port as well)
- Rezon (Arcade; an R-Type-esque shmup. The tracks are very short, so I hope it would be possible if you can do two extra loops (or four in the case of the Final Stage BGM)
- Super Hydlide (Sega Genesis; an adaptation of the PC-88 version. Fun fact: some of the in-game tracks are based on the arrangement versions of several tracks from the "Music from Hydlide 3" soundtrack)

If Rezon isn't rippable, then this is the substitute:

- Street Smart (Sega Genesis; I've requested the arcade version before, but the Genesis version has totally different music, which is decent enough)

I will continue to listen to Star Cruiser II this week, lol. Until then, take care and stay gold, ruiner! :)

Hey ED, thank you for taking my request thought I think that with the Fantasy Zone 2 one that is was indeed the master system conversion instead of the actual arcade so may you could look into it? There was never a system-16 version of Fantasy Zone II in the arcade. It was made especially for the Sega AGES compilation. Please see the "System 16 Remake" section of the Wiki here:

Find it in the arcade section! It SOUNDS like an SMS soundtrack, but this version (I assure everybody LOL) is the actual arcade version! Looking back on it, I didn't mention it was an arcade soundtrack in the writeup, so that's my oversight.

OK, now some bad news: Spy Hunter, Hot Wheels - Velocity X, and Burnout 2 are all unrippable. I tried each game for every system, which is why I was gone yesterday... I spent hours trying to get those soundtracks! Sorry!

What IS new today is Drawn to Life - The Next Chapter for the DS. Same as with the first game in the series, the tracks are mostly tagged, but could use a cleaning and a re-ordering, if anyone would like to attempt it.

That's all for now!

Thought that might be the case, as Burnout 2 had the thing where boosting added more instruments to the song, so I thought it might have been a weird file type. Pretty disappointed, as I've always wanted that OST, and the Paradise versions are incomplete.

Here's hoping my other two work.

Since Burnout 2 didn't work, can I please request another game from my childhood (that ive only just found again and remembered existed), Radikal Bikers on PSX/Arcade. The OST is cheesy pizza/Pizza delivering related Rock songs. Im not joking. I love them.

On an interesting side note, following a quick Google search for the composers to make sure the OST wasn't licenced, I found that one of them included Tim Follin as one of his main influences. I don't think he used any influence of his in this OST :P

EDIT: Actually it was just the sound programmer for the PSX port.

Opps, my bad! Thanks for informing me on Fantasy Zone 2 considering that if I hadn't found out about the system 16 didn't exist that I would have still though it actually did! Though it's a bit odd how they decided to take a step backwards technically and use master system hardware as well as psg music instead of FM music with System 16 like the original, but if there's one thing that came out of this it was that I probably made it a piece of cake to port of to the master system!

Either I couldn't do it in the past, or it was too long, but in any case, I can do it now! Spectrobes: Origins is in the Wii section! Normally, I'd just rename all the filenames off the disc to the title of the game, but since I figured you'd probably want to tag them, I left them as-is, because some of them might give a hint as to where they're from in the game. I looked through all the video files too, and they all contained tons of dialogue and sound effects, so they're not included.

I have several retags to do today, so those are my priority. If I have time after that, I'll start on the requests from MagnetMan34 and Cyquest. TTYL!

I can't thank you enough. So glad it was possible to rip. I'll get the retagging and organizing done as soon as possible, which should prove a little challenging since there seems quite a few songs I don't even remember playing in the game. Good morning! Radikal Bikers is retagged, thanks to MOV_Games!

Also on the plate are two Genesis titles:

Atomic Robo Kid - This is a fun little game. There's also a version of this soundtrack on the X68000, which I think I like a little bit better. I may have to rip that some day.

Phelios - For using a simple sound engine, this one has some excellent composition. It's worth a listen!

Here's some stuff 'n things!

Genesis

Viewpoint - This is a pretty good arrangement of the arcade game, but the arcade version still beats it, hands-down, due to the Neo Geo's enhanced sampling abilities.

Grind Stormer - I've played this game a bunch, but didn't realize how much of a classic rock influence the soundtrack had until I was making the soundtrack. Wow, impressive!

TG16

Aldynes - Some soothing, yet high-energy shmup music. This is good stuff to drive to.

PSX

Need for Speed III - Hot Pursuit - One of my favorite NFS games, and with an amazing soundtrack by Rom Di Prisco and friends, too! There's a little of everything on this one.

PS2

Burnout - This one's a weird one. The awesome Stephen Root soundtrack is actually 6 channels, because it was made for a 5.1 surround sound. I've mixed them down to 2 channels, and it sounds good, so I'm pretty sure I got it right. :)

Enjoy!

Awesome! I'm currently in the middle of sorting out Phantasy Star OST's, but I'll have a look at NFS 3 & Burnout right now, if my awful internet can download them fast enough.

I'll also definatly be able to tell if Burnout 1 sounds off or not.

EDIT: I've listened to both, some good and bad points:

NFS 3: Whoo! Finally I have full versions of Aquilia 303 and Cetus 606! Weirdly though, although all the menu songs are exactly like the old rip I found somewhere (some tracks are built to loop, others fade out after 3 minutes) the race music is arranged differently, and some have parts I've never heard before! Not necessarily a bad thing, it's just kinda jarring that most of them aren't starting where they do in game. Maybe the other rip was from the PC version?

Burnout: Uh oh. A lot of instruments are missing or fade in and out, which means that they were lost during the 6 to 2 channel convert. On the plus side, the unused (until Paradise)Tokyo Nights track is in the files, as well as the never used danger version that I don't think has been ever put on the Internet.

As proof of the audio issue, here's track 7, how it should sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFFzHaZGxrM

NFS 3 - Yeah, it was most likely from the PC version. These are the files taken directly off of the game disc and converted, so nothing was lost. Weird that they'd start the tracks in the middle on the PC version! I have no idea why they'd decide to do that. It *is* EA, though... they do a lot of unexplainable things.

Burnout - I've compared the tracks on the 6-channel file to the mp3, and they sound identical. I don't know how to even get it to sound like the YouTube version... that drum track doesn't exist on any of the channels! Also, maybe the software manages the volume of the tracks during playback, so playing them all at a sustained volume makes it sound weird? I'm just shooting in the dark here. It's also possible there's some difference between the Xbox and PS2 music, and that's what we're hearing here.

Man, you know how to pick challenging OST's! LOL

I'll have some more chiptune requests up later!

Talking about Paradise, I think the Paradise versions of the Burnout 1 tracks aren't cut down, unlike the Burnout 2 tracks which cut off the pre race sections. Someone's probably ripped Paradise by now, so I'll have a look for one.

These tracks are actually from the Xbox version, as the PS2 game is unrippable. Maybe that's why. I stuck it in the PS2 section thinking there's no reason the tracks would be different, and most people would look in the PS2 section for it. Maybe I'll just rename it to the Xbox version and change the section. *shrugs*

OK, I'm still a little star-struck... Alberto Jose Gonzalez just stopped by the PixelTunes Radio Facebook group to tell me how much he liked the latest episode! :D

While I calm down a bit, here's today's new stuff:

Genesis

Dahna Megami Tanjou - Some really bombastic music here, with nice sampled percussion! This one's by T's Music, who coincidentally also did the music for Spectrobes - Origins that just went up recently.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Mmmmm hmmm. Hard rock on the YM2612. It's so crunchy!

Street Smart - The music is a bit plain in this one, but has a nice beat.

Super Hydlide - You almost never see the word "Super" in a Genesis game! Anyways, this one has some epic stuff in it, namely the track "Dragon!!" It's worth a listen just for that track alone.

TG16

P-47 The Freedom Fighter - There's some nice harmonic tones in this soundtrack. I'm slowly gaining a much better appreciation for TG16/ PCE music. I know a lot of people love it, and I didn't understand why until I heard some of the better tracks.

OK... I may have some tags tonight, but that's it for releases! Enjoy the music and the new podcast!

Those games use the same Seta X1 audio system that Rezon did. The only way I'll be able to get the music will be if I record it from MAME if the game has a sound test, and it probably won't be very good quality.

I see. Twin Eagle II's soundtrack isn't as memorable as the first Twin Eagle's soundtrack. The first one's soundtrack can be found here (http://vgmdb.net/album/1884), which was later uploaded on YouTube. Anyway, scratch that, perhaps you can re-rip both Zero Team and New Zero Team after they finally fully emulated Raiden II, since they both use the same hardware. Howdy! I've got a bunch of cool stuff today, Including the full soundtrack from a bunch of the NES game featured in the latest podcast! :)

Genesis

Super Monaco GP - This game is the first game to ever receive a "10" score in the popular US gaming mag Electronic Gaming Monthly. Looking back on it, I'm not sure why... I mean, the soundtrack is very smooth, and the racing is fun, but it's certainly not mind blowing. I dunno.

Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II - This soundtrack sounds really "off" to me. Can anyone tell me if it doesn't sound like the game? I suppose I can load it up in my EverDrive and compare.

TG16

Power Drift - I had no idea this game was even made for the PC Engine! Hearing "demakes" of my favorite Power Drift songs is really cool!

NES

After Burner II - Ohhh yeah. Here's Naoki Kodaka's arrangement of the After Burner themes. Most are pretty impressive, though you can tell Kodaka was still learning the sound system at this point.

Greg Norman's Golf Power - Two awesome songs. Horrible game. :)

Magician - This here's a Neil Baldwin masterpiece. And it was his first NES game! Crazy! You need to grab this one.

I also "remastered" and re-ordered Overlord, since it deserved a makeover.

That's all for now! Who's listened to the podcast yet? What was your favorite track?

Awesome! Can I convert this to MP3 and host it here, or would you rather host it yourself?

Sorry I didn't see this until now! Sure, you can host it! You can also use my FLAC link for the people who want the FLAC soundtrack. I don't see myself taking it down from my MEGA anytime soon, but if it is down, just let me know in a PM.
Either way, be sure to credit MagnetMan34 and myself if you can, since he took on the grueling task of renaming all the files and figuring out which order to put them in! :)

Okay It's been a while since I last came here to bug you Ruiner, but I have a few questions.

There's no way someone hasn't already requested Sonic CD, and if they did, you probably couldn't do it. But in case this is the genuine first time, I'd like to request Sonic CD!

Also a general question: Is it possible to rip the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack in surround sound? I believe once a LONG ass time ago, I came across copy online that had more than 2 channels of sound. I deleted it like a fool, But I am curious how that games music works in surround. You're the sound expert here. Any thoughts?

It's everything you could ever wish for, if MEGA doesn't work for you then I'll ask !!!!! if I could re-host it since MEGA doesn't work with some people, if he doesn't let me re-host it then you're out of luck for a super complete collection...

Hah, whoops... Sonic CD is in my Genesis section! It's just the chiptune music from the Past segments. The CD Audio is super easy to get elsewhere, but I own the disc, so I can rip that too if you can't find it.

These are the .ADX files directly off of the game disc. See where it says "stereo" at the bottom? If it were in surround, it would say "4ch" or "6ch." It's possible that there's a retail OST that was mixed in surround, but that's kind of unlikely. If you happen to see any instances where the soundtrack is in surround, let me know and I'll look deeper into it! (Nice to see you again, BTW!)

Some awesome stuff today!

GBA

TMNT 2 - Battle Nexus - Some high energy music for some high energy fighting! This sounds really good!

DS

Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrow - Although Michiru Yamane worked on this one, Masahiko Kimura, who's probably better known for Genso Suikoden, did the brunt of the composition. A lot of it is very intense, and the darker music has kind of a Tim Burton film feel to it.

Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin - Along with Yamane again, the legendary Yuzo Koshiro worked on this one. It's seriously epic. If you'd like to hear what ActRaiser would sound like on the DS, listen to "The Tears Go Awry." It's so amazing.

OK... My request queue is actually empty! Unbelieveable! I don't think this has happened in the year and a half I've been doing this! I feel... freeeeeee! LOL

Would it be possible for you to rip the following in FLAC? Not asking for tags or anything, I'll be happy with just the rips.

Sonic Rivals
Sonic Rivals 2
Sonic Shuffle
Sonic Pocket Adventure
Sonic Mega Collection (just the original songs from the menus)
Sonic Gems Collection (just the original songs from the menus and the remixes from the museum)
Sonic Jam

Those are the only Sonic soundtracks I need until I have them all in lossless...

The problem I'm faced with here is that I don't do lossless, and I don't want to do lossless because it's going to eat up too much hosting space. Even if I hosted them temporarily, that means I'd look like a jerk if I said no to the next 10 people who wanted lossless rips. I'm really sorry, but I don't want to go that route. I'd be happy to take any MP3 requests you might have. I hope you understand.

Hello again. :)

I have a twofer, if I may.

Could you rip the music from "Yugioh Zexal World Duel Carnival"? Not sure if 3DS are rippable yet, but with all the different 3DS game music on here, then maybe so.

Also, it came out yesterday, but if possible, you rip the music from "Yugioh Tag Force Special" for the PS Vita? EDIT: Whoops. This doesn't come out until Tuesday. [/embarrassed]

Thanks in advance for your time, either way. Also, Late Happy New Year ruiner9! :D

Lock 'n Chase
Motocross Maniacs
NFL Football
Tetris

Man, why didn't I realise you hadn't uploaded Tetris yet? Well, that's another one of my Gameboy games covered!

I do have two requests, both technically from the same game; Toca Touring Cars, both on PS1 & Gameboy Colour. The PS1 version is very special to me as it was the first driving game I ever played, and might have been THE first game I ever played, I can't remember. The GBC music isn't anything to shout about, but the PS1 version has some decent techno tunes. The main menu and Title theme is actually a track from a very rare & obscure promo CD from 1992, so it may be sorta licenced, but it's so obscure that I hope it doesn't matter because it's the song I remember most.

As a side note, did you end up retagging NFS 3? I didn't see you mention it in your recent posts.

I'll add them to the queue! And yes, I did retag NFS 3. Did I fail to mention it? Hmm. Maybe it's still sitting on my hard drive and not re-uploaded. Desert Commander and Codename Viper for the NES have been tagged, as well as a few additions to F-Zero GP Legend for the GBA. Thanks again, VGManiac456!

New Stuff

Illbleed for the DC - Imagine a kind of creepy, Silent Hill-style soundtrack that's maybe not as good, but impressive considering it's sequenced audio. That's Illbleed!

New Super Mario Bros. for the DS - A lot of the current Mario themes started here. It's such a fun soundtrack!

I picked this one up cheap not too long ago, and while the soundtrack isn't mind-blowing, it's got some jazzy tunes that would make great background music for my podcast. Hello, ruiner, how was your week? Mine was good. Tomorrow I will be getting a brand new PS3! Awesomeness!! :D

But enough about me, lol. :P I got new requests for you this week:

- Hydlide 3: The Space Memories (PC-88; enjoyed the Genesis version's music that I dl'd a few days ago so much that I thought I request the original version. I used to have the Music from Hydlide 3 OST on my old computer and the original music version they used for the OST was from this system)
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (SNES; this was not listed in the SNES and so I request this to fully complete the SNES Ranger games (along with Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers))
- Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers (SNES; the fifth and final Power Rangers SNES game, and the only one based on PR Zeo, Have some good tunes)
- Shinseiki Odysselya 2 (SNES; shame this sequel's music doesn't have the talents of Tenpei Sato, lol)
- VR Troopers (Genesis; the only game based on this show. Decent music is all I will say about this)

Well, I hope you have an excellent week, ruiner, and I will continue to support your release of VGMs! :)

(And I will also have time playing on my new PS3, too, lol :P )

My week was good, too! Congrats on getting a PS3! I love mine! I still play it more than my PS4. :)

A quick update for now, but it's a good one: Pokemon Battle Revolution on the Wii! Tsukasa Tawada, who I've said before is responsible for Super EDF on the SNES, one of my favorite soundtracks EVER, wrote this one. His music is so good! It's too bad he has to waste it on Pokemon games! LOL

Enjoy!

Greetings to all - glad to see the thread is flourishing as usual. We all gotta get our gaming music fix, right? :)

Ruiner, Thanks again for the last round of rips I requested. I know it may go without saying, but as always, Thank you very much sir!

I do have another round of retro-nostalgia request if & when you can get to them.

1. Final Zone (Genesis) - Wolfteam again / Renovation Products - I love the sound from the Wolfteam games like Granada (arguably their best).
2. Crack Down (Genesis) - love my old Genesis games & Sega's stuff is no exception.
3. Sagaia (Genesis) - From the Darius series of shooters. Love my shootemups. :)
4. Fire Shark (Genesis) - Another fav & classic from the early years of the Genesis era.

and lastly - if you can do it...

5. Out of This World (3DO)

This title had some really cool cinematic music in parts from what I remember. Loved the game. I know 3DO may be hit or miss to rip (if I remember correctly), but I'd be curious to see if you could pull it off. Just let me know what you think can be done.

Ruiner - Thanks again in advance, as always.

It's a day full of Nintendo DS music! The new releases are:

Custom Robo Arena - Funky electropop, techno, and even some rock in this one... I was really impressed.

Dig Dug Digging Strike - You really can't ever complain about Namco's soundtracks. This one is no exception. It's fun and arcadey without sounding too old. The melodies are super catchy!

Pokemon Conquest - The first Nintendo/ Koei crossover wasn't Hyrule Warriors... it was this lil' game, a cross between Pokemon and the Nobunaga's Ambition series. The soundtrack has... well, a crossover feel to it. Some is classical Japanese music, and some is all about the Pokeymans.

Super Monkey Ball - Touch & Roll - Very polished action music, most of it playful. The DS sound hardware gets more impressive to me every day!

Sadly, the Henry Hatsworth game can't be ripped due to a non-standard music format. Supposedly the OST was available straight from the developers for a while, but it's really hard to find now. If anyone has it, let me know, and I can host it here!

VGManiac456

This might sound a little strange, and even though I requested the game, I have the official soundtrack for Henry Hatsworth. I just have this odd tendency where if the official soundtrack sounds different than the in-game variants, I tend to seek out for a standard rip just for completion's sake hence why I asked for it to begin with. Plus, I kind of liked a couple of the in-game versions slightly over the official ones, but that's just me probably. At any rate, I'll share it and it's in MP3 format.Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (https://mega.co.nz/#!1thV2CwB!VjzCsKC28pi_NRumI_uSsD9cJXSkAPr0YXCB3cP D3BI) Also, thanks for the other four DS rips. Isn't backseat modding frowned upon here? Not trying to be rude or anything, it's just that I was shot down for doing that on another forum when I thought I was being helpful. Hope it's cool to do that here, to give the mods a break.

OK, what I'll do is make this a separate list and add five titles at a time, as if you'd requested them as normal. Arcade games are always hit-or-miss with ripping, as I'm sure you're aware, but I'll see what I can do. The console games shouldn't be an issue. In the future, try to keep it to 5 at a time, even if you have a big list... it keeps me organized. I don't want to accidentally skip your requests because I'm having to go out of order in my queue!

New Today

OK, here's the bag o' goodies.

Game Boy

TOCA Championship Racing - Or TOCA Touring Cars, whatever it may be called in your country. MOV_Games said this soundtrack was a bit lame, but I actually like it a lot! it's got some nice arpeggios, and doesn't get too crazy like some of Jeroen Tel's or Stella Doussis' tracks do. Nice find!

PSX

TOCA - Yup, same game, different system, different composer, and different music. This one's mostly Euro-Techno, and pretty good stuff, too.

DS

Keiji J.B. Harold no Jikenbo - Manhattan Requiem & Kiss of Murder and Satsujin Club - These games are part of the "JB Harold Murder Club" series, which have been around for ages. The music is classy and groovy. I kind of think the Phoenix Wright games should have music like this. What do you think?

Okey Dokey, that's it! Hope you like 'em!

I think KingTengu was just trying to help. He was very polite about it! :) You guys are all totally awesome to each other, and I'm really happy that we've only had one or two bad seeds in the two years I've been running this thread. 1983parrothead has a huge project he's been working on regarding rare soundtracks, and I'm happy to help as long as all the requesters get equal opportunity with their soundtracks, too.

I've listened to the GBC OST, yeah, its better than I remembered, that Title Theme is completely wasted, I've only heard 5 seconds of it before. The menu music sounds VERY different than how it comes out of my GBA SP, though. I would get a quick video for comparison, but my camera has awful audio quality.

Did you tag it already, or was it tagged in the files? Actually, have you actually ever found a game with fully tagged songs in the files before, im curious.

EDIT: I'll get the PSX OST tagged soon, though I think track 2 and 6 are dupes, I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet though as I haven't been able to have a close comparison. Fittingly, it's the song I remember most, when I was 5 years old driving around Donington Park the wrong way. Or blowing the opponents up with the Tank. I miss cheat codes.

Game Boy sound emulation is notoriously imperfect, mostly because of the programmable waveform in the third channel. It's not just a simple square or triangle wave like on the NES... the developer could turn it into whatever they'd like. So even audio from a GBA SP would sound slightly different from a standard GBA, or a GBC because there's so much variation in the waveforms.

As far as tagging goes, some games are already tagged, and some aren't. Most SNES and Genesis games are, because the community tagged the source files years ago and I go off of those. With games on CD or DVD, sometimes developers will name the audio files something like "ST1" for stage 1, or "BOSSBATTLE" for bosses, and I'll clean them up to make them readable. Other times, they're just random numbers or letters that make no sense. If I haven't played the game before, that's when I rely on you guys for tagging help. GBA games in particular, because of the way I rip them, are never pre-tagged. I did tag the TOCA GB game myself... I just played the game a bit in an emulator till I heard the songs. Sometimes I'll watch a playthrough on YouTube to find out where songs belong. That's not always feasible with a game that has ~60 tracks, though!

I actually have a GBC somewhere, I'll test it on that and see if the music sounds different.

EDIT: It sounded more or less the same as the GBA SP, and still different than your Rip. The issue is hard for me to explain without audio footage, but the "doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo doo" instrument plays far longer notes on both Gameboy's.

Oh, if it's the duration of the notes, that's definitely an emulation error. There's only two Game Boy sound emulation engines, and the other one sounds way worse than the one I use.

You guys might have noticed that since I couldn't rip the awesome Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure soundtrack for the DS, VGManiac456 was nice enought to share the OST he downloaded 6 years ago, which is now very hard to find. It wasn't ordered, so he was nice enough to get all the songs in the correct order, and I also renamed two tracks that had their names reversed. OK, it's a big update! Here we go:

PS2

Killer 7 - This was requested long ago, but it's so long that I couldn't do it. Now, enjoy some awesome tunes from Masafumi Takada and Jun Fukuda!

Genesis

NBA Jam - OK, I stuck both the original and Tournament Edition in this folder since they reuse some music. It's mainly hip-hop and acid jazz stuff.

SNES

Power Rangers Zeo - Battle Racers - Hiroyuki Iwatsuki wrote a very nice and energetic soundtrack for this one.

Japanese PC

Hydlide 3 - The Space Memories - I like this one! It's simple for an OPNA soundtrack, but the melodies are memorable.

NES

Shadow of the Ninja - Wow. This is very epic stuff. I'm not sure I knew about this one, but it's totally worth a listen if you love action soundtracks!

Ganbare Goemon 2 - Fun Asian-inspired music! Goemon always has great music and this is no exception. :)

OK guys, that's all for today!

Hey!

Just wondering if GBA Medarot games are still unrippable? Navi, Ni Core, Shingata & G? And that damn Starshot for N64 haunts me still... Also, do you still have the Dai-kaijuu Monogatari I & II you made ages ago? I don't see them on list.

Thanks a bunch for handling my requests, Ruiner! One thing, though: While I suppose I was going to request Goemon 2 at one point, what I had actually requested was Goemon Gaiden 2 (aka the RPG spinoff). No worries though, because these are still great soundtracks, either way! :)

As for any new requests..... by any chance, is Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GC doable? There may be all this hubbub over the new 3DS/Wii U edition, but I am still a fan of the classics, myself! ;)

I'll check them out... I don't know if I tried them with the clean rip method, so I'll give them a go. As far as Starshot goes, I don't know if we'll ever see a USF set that I can convert. Were Dai-kaijuu Monogatari I & II really long soundtracks? That may be why they're gone... I didn't even keep those for myself! (Why, I don't know.) I can rerip them... so all but Starshot will be added to my queue. :)

Oh! Well, OK. I'll put that in the queue, then. As far as Smash Bros Melee, I've chosen not to because there are other tagged rips out there, and doing it would be a waste of time considering the work's already been done before. Dai-kaijuus were pretty normal length as far as I remember, thanks for possible re-rip! Starshot is evil. It is already one of my favourite N64 soundtracks.

ruiner9

OK, it's a late-night post from me to you!

Genesis

Crack Down - While it uses a simple sound engine, the songs here are pretty good, with some innovative uses of stereo.

Final Zone - One of Motoi Sakuraba's earlier works... it's fun to see how far he's come since the early 90's!

Fire Shark - The synths in this one are really abrasive. They kind of overpower everything else!

VR Troopers - This one's new to me, and I really like it! It's got some dynamic composition, and I'm shocked to know that it only uses the FM chip with no PSG samples for the drums!

SNES

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie - Super rockin' tunes from Hiroyuki Iwatsuki. Some of these tracks are really epic.

Shinseiki Odyssela 2 - Fairly standard RPG music fare, using a sound set that sounds similar to what Koshiro used on the first ActRaiser. You'll especially hear it in the "Battle" theme.

Some good stuff tonight! See ya later!

@ruiner9 Could you upload the DuckTales (GameBoy) Soundtrack?

ruiner9
01-25-2015, 09:50 PM
I'll add DuckTales to the queue!

Howdy guys, got some neat stuff today!

First up is Out of This World for the 3DO. It's a nicely composed soundtrack for one of the first polygonal home games!

Next is Luigi's Mansion - Dark Moon for the 3DS! While not as cartoony sounding as the first one, it's still amazing. It gets pretty creepy, and doesn't quite sound like your traditional Nintendo 1st party title.

Lastly, one of the best soundtracks you'll ever find on the N64, Ridge Racer 64. Namco's amazing techno still holds strong, even without streaming audio! Keith Arem, who's worked on games from Call of Duty to Saint's Row, wrote this music, and I think the sound quality on this one turns out even better than how it sounds on the console.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Here's some obscure stuff!

Formation Armed F for the TG16/ PC Engine - This sounds kind of like early American NES music. :P

F1 Circus Special - Pole to Win for the PCE CD - Some light and jazzy CD music, clearly through a MIDI card with a bit of reverb added for effect. Not exactly what I was expecting from a racing game.

Cycle Warriors in the Arcade section - Imagine those auto-scrolling scenes in the Ninja Turtles games where you're beating up bad guys while riding on vehicles... well, that's this entire game. The music sounds a lot like the X68000 stuff, due to it having almost identical sound hardware. It's mostly FM chords over a drum track.

OK... um, maybe I'll have something else later that's a bit more fun... we're about to get snowed in where I live, so I should have some free time. :)

I've been downloading some of your older Gameboy uploads, and I've found that some of them (Pokmon Gold, Mario Land 2 & 3: Wario Land) have those nasty clicks at the start of each track (or just most tracks in Gold's case). I guess you ripped them differently back then, or because you mentioned once that your Player fades in and out that you just didn't realise they were there. It's probably too much of a hassle to ask you to redo old requests though.

I also kinda forgot to tag Toca PSX, ill do it now. Oops.

ruiner9
01-27-2015, 02:52 PM
All future Game Boy releases will be click free, but I think about 80% of the ones there now have that click at the beginning. It's WAY too big of a project to go back and manually snip out every click. If you have a GB album and it's annoying you, you can easily download a free audio editor like Audacity and chop the the first fraction of a second off of each song. I've got limited time to do albums, so I can either do new music for the next two weeks, or fix clicks on old music... which would YOU guys want me to do? :)

Speaking of new music, here's what's been uploaded today (so far):

SNES

Both Daikaijuu Monogatari and Daikaijuu Monogatari 2 are back up! The 2nd game is one of the very few SNES games that doesn't have tags. Weird.

GBA

Shingata Medarot - Lefance, this is the ONLY Medarot game that was composed using the engine that I can do clean rips with. I guess one is better than none! It's an hour of awesome Kinuyo Yamashita music, and it sounds great, so I'm glad you asked me to re-check them.

GameCube

Ed, Edd, & Eddy - The Misadventures - If you listen to the podcast, you know my real name is Ed, and we call my son Eddie. Well, my dad's name is Ed, too! So we're a real-life "Ed, Ed, & Eddie!" I though that was cool. Anyways, Shin'en produced a really jazzy but short soundtrack for this game. It's really nicely done!

OK, going to go see how much snow is piled up outside. See ya!

And HUGE thanks for Shingata. Now only those three games remain... but I am sure one day they find out a way to rip them. I mean, we already have been to the Moon but we can't rip a few GBA games? :D

The problem is that most of the time the clicks go beyond the start of the long and slightly overlap with the first few notes, which means that it's impossible to cut out without ruining the song, hence they literally would have to be redone. I feel like attempting it myself at this point, though I don't even know how you do it.

Doesn't the time chip just rely on a cmos battery? There are a bunch of tutorials on YouTube that show how to replace them and add a slot so that you can swap the battery out more easily the next time it dies.

That would be great! Thanks! I'll limit myself to just the OST's I really want and can't find in super high quality anywhere else, don't want to take up much time for new fresh OST's. For now I would love a redo of Pokmon Gold/Silver, as I'm currently trying to obtain every main series Pokmon OST and it's the only soundtrack that hasn't had any songs released officially. No idea why. I know it's a big one, but I thought to get it out of the way first before the smaller soundtracks, and not all the tracks have clicks so some may not even have to be replaced.

First off, MOV_Games has tagged TOCA Touring Car for the PSX. Thank you!

Next up, it's DuckTales for the Game Boy. What a fun little soundtrack not too long, but Capcom sure knows how to write fun music.

And lastly, Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V Tag Force SPECIAL for the PSP. This brand-new game has a really well-produced set of tunes, ranging from rock to softer stuff. I searched high and low for the composer of this game, and came up empty. Well, not totally empty... I found one guy who recorded the ending on his PSP, but it's entirely in Japanese. First up is Out of This World for the 3DO. It's a nicely composed soundtrack for one of the first polygonal home games!

Hey Ruiner - Thanks SO much for being able to rip this - Man, this is great! I loved the cinematic feel of this music. It was just amazing to see & hear all aspects of this game, and the music truly brought an amazing atmospheric ambiance to the game. Nothing quite like it & very unique. What a great rip to have in the collection!

Can you help take a look some of the music again - It appears something may have been missed, or at least, one track. I was going to work on tagging the songs based upon what may have been released or interpreted elsewhere on the net as "labels" for the song. So of course, I went to YouTube.

Found this guy that put up some videos containing the music of the 3DO version, and he has the same number of tracks basically, but the First Track he has is from one of the intros & it appears your rip somehow missed it or may have been missed:

Please see this link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm-CHgyToUc&list=PLF909FCAB5BD06504

This is one of the "Introduction Music Pieces" from the Game (Played by itself when you let the game sit passed the intro cinematic - Mainly comprised of a title screen and words scrolling like a Star Wars Episode text intro description). He's got it on YouTube by itself clean. Basically, this link is to the pure sound of that particular track of music by itself without any sound effects that you hear on your rip of Track 2 (the main intro cinematic). Can you look into this and see if it can be extracted or was perhaps somehow missed on the disc somewhere?

Also, please check your rips of Tracks 5, 6 & 7 as examples - There seems to be some slight "static" in the tracks near the beginning, or in other areas. Much easier to hear on track 6 & 7. Some of the other music may be affected.

I think I can say that your rip is superior in terms of the general sound quality compared to what this guy may have done on his rip & YouTube, but it may need some revision. Can you evaluate?

Sorry for long explanation - Thanks!

Well, shoot. He's got a FLAC version in the link right below the video, it's fully tagged, and it has the missing track. May as well just grab that and call it a day! :)

From what 1983parrothead requested, I can only do a small percentage. Here's what's new:

GBA

Youkaidou
Zero One
Zero One SP - All 3 are obscure Japanese titles, although the music is quite good. Haven't been able to locate any composer names, though.

SNES

Battle Blaze - Kind of a bombastic action soundtrack. I was surprised to see Masaya Matsuura's name in the credits... I only know him from the Parappa the Rapper games.

Arcade

Knuckle Joe - This is a partial rip, but it's all I could get out of M1.

Dynamite Duke - This one was much better documented. It's fully tagged as well. It's got a really nice FM soundtrack!

The games I can't rip are:

Cop 01 (Arcade)
Tatakae! Big Fighter (Arcade)
Big Fight: Big Trouble in the Atlantic Ocean (Arcade)
Chinese Hero (Arcade)
Shanghai Kid (Arcade)
Dyna Gear (Arcade)
Mosaic (Arcade)
Go! Go! Mile Smile (Arcade)
Gyakuten!! Puzzle Ban-Chō (Arcade)
Stinger (Arcade)
Dead Angle (Arcade)
Empire City: 1931 (Arcade)

None of the sound hardware for these games is emulated in M1, and they're too old have software sound test menus. They're all controlled by dip switches. Sorry! :(

Stay tuned in a bit for the new podcast!

Hmmm. I thought Big Fight was rippable with BridgeM1. Tagging the untagged files would be muzukashi without playing the games. Anyway, thanks ruiner9! If you still can't rip Big Fight, then I can try it myself. I will create a "Tatsumi Electronics Collection" featuring not only BGM from Big Fight and Cycle Warriors, but also Play Versions of Tatsumi's earlier works.

Okay, no prob. Heck, I'd actually consider doing a rip myself, but I'm a bit too lazy for that, lol. Very well then, I shall search elsewhere for a Melee rip....

Sure thing! I'll add it to the queue.

OK, BIIIIG update today!

Game Boy

Pokemon Gold - Here's a remastered and "click-free" version of the album that was already up. :)

The Legend of Zelda - Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons - There are a few familiar melodies in these games, but most of the tunes are original. Overall, they're very listenable outside of just playing the game.

Wii

Geometry Wars - Galaxies - Space age techno that's perfect for shooting at triangles!

DS

Tetris Party Deluxe - Is "electric jazz funk" a thing? Because it is now, after hearing these tunes!

Dreamcast

Hydro Thunder - A very cinematic and orchestral score. The music in this game seems to have been recorded way too loud... there's distortion there that's present in the original file, so I can't do anything to help it.

NES

Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2 - Wow, there's over 80 tracks here, and they're all really good! Prepare for a full hour of Konami-quality tunes with an Asian flair!

Whew! That was a busy day! Enjoy!

Hey Ruiner! Thanks for re-doing the Out of This World rip! I found it kind of funny & surprising (and scared) for a moment there that originally you of all people were about to throw in the towel when you saw that guy's flac version! But hey, I love my MP3s and the file space savings, plus like I said, the quality of your rips are usually spot on! Really happy you changed your mind & decided to do it! What a treat! Thank you SOOOOO much for your efforts, and the efforts you put in every single time you do a rip for any of us. :)

Today's uploads are from all over the place. Let's see what's in the bag, shall we?

N64

Buck Bumble - I was really happily surprised at the sweet electronic techno music in this one! There's some jungle, some house, and some trance in here. Cool!

Wave Race 64 - Kazumi Totaka wrote this iconic soundtrack. There's some stuff that sounds a little like Mario Kart, and then there's some sweet rock tracks. "Marine Fortress" almost sounds like a Tim Follin track!

SNES

Tetris Battle Gaiden - This reminded me of playing all these BPS Tetris games when i was a kid. There was a bunch of them, and they all had sweet tunes. I'll try to get them all uploaded because they're worth listening to.

DS

Viewtiful Joe - Double Trouble! - It's the portable Viewtiful Joe! Takeshi Miura did a great job at making these electro-rock tracks sound like it was streaming audio, even though it's all sequenced!

Arcade

Hyper Dyne - Side Arms - I had to listen to this one in-depth because it needed to be done manually, and I gotta say... two YM2203 chips at the same time sound pretty ugly. Maybe it's because I needed to use M1 for this, and not a cleaner source. Anyways, listening to it made wanna go and rip....

TG16

Hyper Dyne - Side Arms - ...the TG16 version! Takashi Tateishi helped out on this version, and although the majority of the music is different, I gotta say it's an improvement over the arcade version.

Here's a few I can't do:

Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt - Somebody has created a VGM set for this, but it's not publicly accessible. I'm working on trying to get it from him.

California Speed - Not compatible with M1, no ripped USF file for the N64, and no sound test in the arcade mode. Somebody has a full rip on YouTube which makes me think there was an OST released at some point. I haven't been able to track it down, though. I'll keep looking!

Enjoy the stuff, guys!

You have my heartfelt gratitude for VJ and Goemon Gaiden 2! Now, I'd like to make my last two requests for the time being: Sonic Triple Trouble for the Game Gear (easily my favorite 8-bit Sonic game, and the Master System/GG section could use some more love ;)), and seeing as you have a 3DS section..... how about Kirby Triple Deluxe? Thanks in advance! :)

Hello, ruiner. Sorry for the absence, but I've been a bit busy. Anyways, I'll make this short, lol...

- Cyber Lip (Arcade; simply put, Neo Geo's version of "Contra")
- Hit the Ice (SNES; my brother loved playing this game, and I enjoyed it... somewhat, lol)
- Hydlide 3: The Space Memories (Sharp X68000; I know I shouldn't request the same music from this game again, but I almost forgot about this version. Not sure if it is rippable, though, but I'll take my chances, lol)
- Jackal (Arcade; remembered the NES version's music, so I decided to request the original arcade version)
- Robocop 2 (Arcade; has some good tunes, considering this was much better than Ocean's take on the game version, IMHO)

Well, have a great weekend, ruiner!! :D

ruiner9
01-31-2015, 04:54 PM
I haven't turned around requests this fast since the days when I was only doing NES stuff!

Here's the goods:

Cyber-Lip in the Arcade section - Had to convert to VGM, then go from VGM to wav, and then wav to mp3 to get the best quality out of this one! It's not tagged, but it sounds really good. It's mostly synth-driven action music with a nice guitar chugging along in the background.

Kirby Triple Deluxe for the 3DS - Anyone wanna try their hand at tagging this 130+ track, 4 hour monster? I've left the filenames intact as they seem to hold some clues about which songs are from which area. In any case, Jun Ishikawa and Hirokazu Ando are back with some excellent new (and old) Kirby tunes.

Hydlide 3 Special Version - The Space Memories for the X68000 - As far as I can tell, it's only called "Special Version" because the music is in stereo, just like the PC-98 version was. Weird. I think this is my favorite version of the soundtrack, though.

Jackal in the arcade section - Man, BGM 1 is surely a "pump you up" kind of jam! Loving it.

Hit the Ice for the SNES - A short soundtrack full of vocal samples. It kind of reminds me of the hockey version of Baseball Stars 2 for the Neo Geo.

Sonic the Hedgehog - Triple Trouble for the SMS/ GG - Not havning played this game, I'm not too fond of these tunes, but hey! It's Sonic! If you've got nostalgic memories of this game, I'm sure the music means more to you than it does to me.

That's it for now... Maybe more this evening, if I get around to it!

Hey again Ruiner. Could I trouble you for a re rip of Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land?

I also have a new request for you, Sanvein on PSX. This was a budget title released over here in the UK under the Midas games banner. Most of the stuff under that name was usually pretty bad, but I remember Sanvein being a pretty decent top down Shmup. Cycle Warriors (Arcade)
Blood Bros. (Arcade)
Heated Barrel (Arcade)

Flash Hiders (PCE CD)
StarSweep (GB)
Legionnaire (Arcade)

I will be creating these upcoming Support Threads pretty soon:

Kaneko (Air Buster/AeroBlaster, Fujiyama Buster/Ooedo Fight, Cyvern: The Dragon Weapons, etc.)
Success (Cotton, Psyvariar, etc.)
Fill-in-Cafe (Asuka 120% BURNING Fest., Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force, Panzer Bandit, etc.)

Recently, I created the Sammy Corp. Support Thread (Thread 184915), featuring the soundtrack to the unreleased arcade game Bloody Sport.

RoboCop 2 is new in the Arcade section! This game has some really wacky sound hardware... a YM2151, a YM2203, two OKI samplers, and a Hu6280, which was better known as the PC Engine/ TG-16 processor. The result is some very interesting-sounding music.

Enjoy!

Thanks for Sanvein, when I have time I'll see if I can dig the game out and tag it, though I'm aiming to tag Nintendogs first.

Wario Land is a major improvement, again like Pokmon Gold the music is both slightly clearer and much louder compared to the old rip, and it seems to have more tracks, I guess quite a few of the old rips are missing tracks, huh. There's only teeny tiny issue I could find is that the death music fades out for some reason. Other than that, perfect!

A USF set for 1080 Snowboarding exists, but it's awful. There's an odd timing to the beats, and the vocal samples play way too slowly. There's even at least one track that can't be ripped at all. You're better off trying to track down the official OST.
From the readme file that comes with it:

Some tracks sound broken, but they aren't. This is an error in emulation and not in the rip.

OST track 15 and sound code 0x07 are missing due to the fact that they use a different sound buffer.

I'll see what I can do about the other ones!

Hey Ruiner, how's it going? Have another slightly obscure request if you don't mind. How about Criticom on Saturn/PS1?

MOV_Games
02-05-2015, 11:02 PM
Hey Ruiner, I noticed while tagging the Nintendogs OST that the Dog Walking song is... weird. It's only the map portion of the song, with a weird Instrument inserted into it. The song is sort of interactive so I guess it's a Burnout 2 esque thing going on. I wonder what happened to the other half?

Anyway, I'm here with some requests from mostly obscure Racing games:

Gumball 3000 (PS2) - I always used to play this with the sfx off as a kid as the drivers swore and trashed talked each other for no reason. I wasn't offended, it just got on my nerves! This music for what I remember is mostly Techno.

Driving Emotion Type S (PS2) - The Squaresoft Gran Turismo. Only bought this a few months ago from a Boot Sale, I haven't heard much of the music but it seems very... generic Japanese racer. You get what I mean?

Micro Machines V4 (PS2) - We now have V3, why not it's PS2 cousin? Much less music this time around, I think It may be only two songs! The Micro Machines V3 Menu music plays on the kitchen level's radio though, which is a nice nod to it's predecessor.

Dragstars (PSX) - Another Value series game like Sanvein, this one wasn't that good. I don't remember the OST for this one, I think it was Rock.

Grooverider - Slot Car Racing (PS2) - Another meh game, decent music for what I remember though.

First time I've requested a full five requests. On a side note, I'm going to try and tackle tagging Simpsons Hit & Run on the weekend, with all the jingles this is gonna take a while...

ruiner9
02-06-2015, 02:15 AM
I'm sure the interactivity in the music is what's throwing the ripping program for a loop. Unfortunately, the program is a drag-and-drop sort of deal where you can mess with the options, so I can't do anything to fix it. :( You can add something like (inaccurate) next to the title so listeners know it's not the true track.

A couple uploads today! Here's what's new:

M.C. Kids (NES) - This sounds a LOT like Alberto Gonzalez, from the arpeggios to the melodies. I was surprised that it wasn't! But... you know that means it must be good!

Mario Hoops 3 on 3 (DS) - There's an interesting mix of streamed audio and sequenced music in this game. All of it is really awesome, though. I love the Wario Factory level music!

I've tried all three versions of the Wallace and Grommit game - can't do it. Still working on Dakar 2, maybe I'll have that early tomorrow. We shall see!

Howdy folks! New stuff is here!

Animaniacs (Genesis) - Seiya Murai did a pretty good job making a cartoony soundtrack for the FM chip.

Dakar 2 - The World's Ulitmate Rally (GC) - Middle eastern fused with dance beats. I like this one a lot!

Metal Gear (MSX2/ Japanese PC) - Some lovely early tunes from Iku Mizutani and Motoaki Furukawa.

Iggy's Reckin' Balls (N64) - I giggle every time I type that! Anyways, I've never heard of Roy Wilkins before, but he made some cool lo-fi techno for this game.

Enjoy! :)

Fixed! I uploaded them to MEGA, but forgot to copy the link.

Been away for a few days, but I was working on some stuff, so it's all good, right? Right!

Here's the new goods:

Micro Machines V4 (PS2) - An extremely short but sweet electronic soundtrack.

Driving Emotion Type S (PS2) - An extremely LONG and VERY sweet soundtrack from some of Namco's finest: Shinji Hosoe, Takayuki Aihara and Ayako Saso!

Criticom (PSX) - This virtually unknown fighting game had some synth-orchestra music in it. Not my thing, but it was well done.

Lucky Luke (GB) - It's Alberto Gonzalez! I shouldn't need to tell you that's awesome by this point, right? Grab it!

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Solid Snake (MSX) - We played this in like, the 5th episode of PTR and I'm just NOW uploading it? I'm so lazy :P Anyways, treat yourself to some stealthy wavetable synth music. You deserve it!

And that's that! Enjoy!

So Namco composers worked on a Squaresoft game? Didn't think those two companies collaborated.

Thanks for Driving Emotion Type S and Micro Machines V4, hopefully you simply haven't attempted my other three and they ARE hopefully rippable, right? (Hope Intensifies)

EDIT: Didn't know V4's music was by the V3 composer, always assumed it was someone else. Well, I've learned something today.

EDIT 2: I also didn't know that Driving Emotion Type S had an official OST. I see that five songs from your rip aren't there (I'm guessing sequenced audio) so maybe I'll hunt it down for the remaining songs one day.

Unfortunately Driving Emotion has clicks, though these ones sound nothing like the Gameboy ones. They are on every track except 1 and 2 (though there may be ones on those tracks that I can't hear due to drums). If it's not too much trouble could you probably check the source files to see if they are like that on the disc?

GrooveRider (PSX) and Gumball 3000 (PS2) are up! Dragstar is fully sequenced audio, so no-can-do there. :(

The clicks are indeed in the original file... I'll keep an eye out for the OST too, and I'll let you know if I find it.

Yes! Thanks so much Ruiner! I'm not too bothered about Dragstars, it was my least wanted of the soundtracks anyway.

You did mean PS2 instead of PSX for Grooverider, didn't you?

None of the clicks in Driving Emotion interrupted the music, so I've edited them out. You can redownload the album.

Awesome!

I noticed that the Gumball songs are somewhat tagged (Including the Menu song, which has no name until now!), but some of the names are shortened. I can quickly retag them for more accurate names right now.

I see that there are no composers listed either, unfortunately I can't help with that despite owning the game! In the manual there are no composer/s listed at all, which is strange as the other staff members are.

EDI: They seem to have wrong names, too. Fend is actually Lights.

Weird! Maybe the game lists them wrong... Who knows? Anyways, I was looking for the composer for quite a while... It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere. That's a shame, because the tracks are really awesome.

I managed to find the full soundtrack to Driving Emotion Type-S and uploaded it here (Thread 185628). The extra five songs should be included.

But please, download ruiner's work to appreciate his efforts as well. =]

Alright, this is complicated. It seems that the in game tracks are definatly wrong, Twister has Lyrics that say "About That Time", a name of another song that IS called Time in your rip. However, the file names ALSO seem wrong, as Lbyro (OverSteer in game) has lyrics that say "Utopia", ANOTHER different song. Talk about a mess!

I think what I will do is keep the file names, and put the in game ones in brackets.

EDIT: I think I'm getting somewhere. I've reordered the songs so that they are in the same order as the pause menu BGM select, and it seems that the songs are misnamed one to the left.

Now this fixes "About That Time's" name, as well as the menu song as it says "Strange Light" at the start, so it seemingly confirms that the file names are indeed the correct ones. However, track 8 says "Utopia" in it, so that one is still wrong.

I think it's best to stick with what I had done before, it's too much hassle to try and find the correct song names as it's pretty much impossible.

EDIT 2: I've also found that Micro Machines V4's music is NOT composed by Tim Bartlett, but Dan Selby. He's only credited in the Manual Credits, as seen below. Tim only did the sound effects, many of which are from V3. Sorry about the flash, it would not turn off!

Were the V4 songs already named, or did you tag them yourself? Because I've NEVER heard "Challenge Complete, Results, Unlock or Game Over" before. I even played through pretty much every mode too see if they play, and they didn't.

Tally for January's Uploads: 127 new or updated albums! Wheew!

Thanks to VGManiac456, Lucky Luke (GB), Mechanized Attack (NES), and Viewtiful Joe (DS) have all been tagged! Thank you my friend!

MOV_Games has also tagged the VERY TRICKY Gumball 3000 (PS2) soundtrack. The music in the game is labeled different than the filenames on the disc, so we're considering the in-game names as the official ones. Thanks, MOV!

Our new soundtrack today is..... finally...... Earthbound (SNES)! It's 3 1/2 hours, 206 tracks, and almost 400mb, which is why I didn't upload it before I had the extra storage space. Thanks for the reminder, ultimadragon1!

It's been a busy day for me! I need to rest a bit. See ya!

Was actually going to request Earthbound at some point (was on my to-request list), but looks like I can mark that off now. But speaking of requests, I have some.

Choro-Q3 (PS1)
Gadget Racers (PS2)
DK: Jungle Climber (DS)
Croc: Legend of the Gobos (PS1)
Croc 2 (PS1)

Many thanks as always!

It's very rare that I actually post stuff that isn't from requests, but I've got four albums here I think you'll really enjoy:

Akazukin Chacha (GB) - This is the portable version of the X68000 game. You're a little witch, flying around shooting stuff, all to the sweet music of Hitoshi Sakimoto. Definitely worth the download.

Hourai Gakuen no Bouken (SNES) - Another Sakimoto game, and I think this one is even better! Just check out the track "Airplane," and appreciate all the little touches he adds in the background. He's truly a marvelous composer.

Hole Chaser (PC-98) - The next two albums are from Masahiro Kajihara. Most of his work never made it overseas, but it's great stuff. We talked about him a bit on the Halloween episode of PTR, as he was a co-composer on Rusty, which is noting short of awesome. This soundtrack continues his tradition of great FM tunes with nice beats. "BGM 3" almost sounds like it was from Rusty... it defintely has a Castlevania feel to it!

Princess Maker 2 (FM Towns) - Is this our first FMT game? Maybe! The system had the same FM chip as the Genesis, but they coupled it with a much nicer sampler chip. The result is familiar FM synth sounds with much nicer percussion, and sometimes some sampled instruments. I really love the track "To the City" on this album.

Enjoy! :D

Hello.
Been following this thread for a long time and I have to say that I admire both the quality and quantity of stuff you put out ruiner! So many nostalgic memories rekindled!
Anyway, if they're possible, I'd like to request:
Predator(NES)
Alien 3(NES)
and Street fighter 2010(NES)
Thanks in advance.

Sure! I don't think anyone is familiar enough with the obscure games you've requested to tag them themselves, so if you have a handle on that, send me a PM with the song titles and I'll update them.

Hi all! All the uploads here are for the PlayStation:

Choro Q 3 - There's a lot of music in this one, and it's got some great tunes. There's Asian music, blues, techno, middle-eastern, and more!

Croc - Legend of the Gobbos - There's some really rich and nicely composed songs here. A lot of them are kind of spooky, which I didn't expect. I really like track 20.

Croc 2 - From a different composer, I think this one's a little less impressive. It sounds a bit more MIDI-like, even though it's streamed audio, and it's more atmospheric than melodic.

I can't do Gadget Racers (PS2)! All the music is in a giant 430mb file on the disc, and I've done everything I can think of to extract it with no success. So lame. :( Oh well, enjoy the new stuff!

OK, twist my arm! Jeez! Here's more NES music:

Alien 3 - Ya'll should be familiar with Jeroen Tel by now, right? Here's another excellent soundtrack from him.

Predator - Kind of a unique sounding one. It's pretty solid, but middle-of-the-road in quality.

Street Fighter 2010 - The Final Fight - Today I learned that Junko Tamiya wrote this music, and it sounds NOTHING like Bionic Commando OR Little Nemo- The Dream Master. I don't know how she does it! It's a really good set of tunes, though!

And that's it for today... later doods!

WCW/NWO Revenge (N64)

Hi ruiner! Can I make a little request? Would it be possible to do The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures for the Gamecube? Just a little thing, could it be the japanese version of the game?

It has a minigame called "Tetra's Trackers" which never came out of Japan and has some AWESOME songs. I know it because I already have a rip of it, but it's not good at all... Maybe you can do justice to FSA's songs!

Oh yeah, and just out of curiosity, is there any reason you don't do 320 kbps mp3's?

Thanks in advance, as always. :)
