No guys, u'll are wrong, worst official Bond movie was OHMSS... Lazenby really screwed up on it... he couldn't even climb up the machine's cogs without any difficulty... and he didn't drive the car during the chase thru the snow and the racetrack, his girlfriend did. Which was pathetic.

Nonone wrote anything about CR being the worst Bond movie. Get your facts straight next time. And as we all know, people (even a fictional character like Bond) develop through experience. If developing thru experience is pathetic, then we're all pathetic= human.

Speaking of slow-pacing, watching Thunderball a few years ago for the first time in decades, I was struck at how slow it was. Yet few people seem to comment on that - in fact, its described as "fast paced" and "non stop action" by some people! Its a great movie though, just different to most of the other wham-bam Bond movies.

I agree it's not as complete but some files in the 2009 ed are bigger= not as compressed, and therefor one can combine it with yours (if you want) to get the best possible sound experience. I'm not trying to step on your toes, just trying to help out :D

But you also dont know that someone hasnt ripped those from an MP3-CD, thus doubley compressing them, and/or used a bad codec. Mine are L.A.M.E. rips from the original CDs with a good frequency response. I just think mines a safer bet for anyone who knows about audio quality.

Thanks for The World is Not Enough. That is most certainly the best available version of the bank music. I've always thought that piece and the boat chase music are some of Arnold's finest action scoring.

The movie itself was dissapointly only 1h46m long, which is very non-007, besides the first three films in the franchise. And if you than add the source music in Puerto Rico and the whole Tosca opera sequence, you have approximately an additional 15m of music ... The missing cues would then be not that much, I believe 'the Shootout when Bond and Greene are leaving the opera' is the longest among other more smaller cues...

What is wrong with the complete score in Rafael 00_Agent's thread? Thread 45183
Isn't that very complete? Besides QOS, every score in Takehiro's thread are so more complete.

Ignore all 2CD sets of QoS. They are FAKES. For one, the credits music is a hack job between CR credits and QoS credis post-gunshot (the edit is to hide the sound effect!) It also pads out the running time with non-score music and tracks from CR.

EBR is the only way to go, peeps!

OK guys and gals, Thunderball is in and its another blinder of a set. 102 mins, and almost 50 tracks. I am also happy to report the great sound quality - some of the EMI releases from 2003 (notably this and AVTAK) were mastered "overly-bright" in terms of sound. None of that is present in this double CD set.

If I'm not mistaken, not counting the sourced music, the QoS soundtrack is only missing the piece heard when Bond flees the bar in Bolivia and the end credits music. Takehiro's album has the end credits, so you're just missing the other cue, which is probably 30 seconds long.

I'm no compressing-expert but to me it seems illogical that doubley compressing a file should result in MORE MB-size wise since the whole concept of compressing is to make a file smaller and compact (as in Compact Disc and so on). Your rips sounded fine to me, but could you please explain a little further about your theory here or in a mail?

Meaning, those supposedly 320kb/s files could easily be ripped from a CD that was burned from 128kbp/s MP3s. An MP3 encoder doesnt "know" whether a source file is lossy or not, it just treats it as a full-size file that it compresses. So if you download some MP3s at 128k, burn them to CD, then rip that CD to 320k, the MP3 encoder will be giving all those KB to recreate the signal but they will be wasted, as the source material is a lower-bitrate originally.

And re-encoding a 128k file to a 320k file doesnt make it sound better :) Once the frequencies are lost due to compression, you cant bring them back.

Andee, that gets my vote for post of the day :)

I totally and utterly disagree mate. Dalton's portrayal of Bond -- particularly Licence to Kill -- paved the way for Craig. Dalton set the ball rolling, the world just wasnt ready for it yet (surprisingly). Now people are lapping up the "gritty Bond" feel. Dalton should always be honored for setting the standard for that. I tell people every chance I get whenever I hear them praising Craig for being so dark!

Thanks very much for FRWL and Thunderball. Felt that FRWL's sequencing was unbalanced compared to the official version but that's a minor thing compared to the melodic quality and variation. Thunderball was better than expexted (and that says a bit since I've listened to the suite and the Mr Kiss Kiss Bang tracks on The Best Of James Bond limited ed for many years now!). Great sound, sequencing and I listened to it with only one late pause. Aprecciate it! :D

So... the film order of a score is worse? I disagree in every way!

For me there's a difference in watching the film with score because when you do there are sometimes pauses of either silence or the characters talking/walking/doing something else. When you listen to an album with the soundtrack the music have to stand on its own without the images. You maybe experince this differently but for me listening to only the music there's another need for variety in sound and intensity from track to track to keep the flow up and not exhaust my ears. That's 'cause I have a slight hearing disorder. Maybe it's a character difference as well?

Great things come to those that wait, all these are great Takehiro I was listening to TND , the cues during or around when Bond is escaping the Lab then going to Paris, great music , loved the take on the Bond theme there. Outstanding!!

"Speaking" of which, Takeshiro, any hints on what tracks are to be on Dr. No? The opening with electronic noise/sound, bongos and Three Blind Mice/Kingston Calypso will be on it, I hope? I like that one and Dr. No's Death, so those would be nice. But it doesn't sound that promising of it not being a fav at EBR though...

Really? Where on the extras do you mean?

But it doesn't sound that promising of it not being a fav at EBR though...

The guys at EBR dont let their opinion of the films or scores influence their work. EBR thinks Dr No is a fab film, they just dont like the score so much. But that doesnt mean the expanded one will be poor.

That's fair enough - Michel Legrand's music for Never Say Never Again was a rush job and I think it shows and much as I love Bacharach's music for Casino Royale I'd imagine that it would be difficult to track down masters etc.

It is interesting that a soundtrack like Moonraker would get a 30 minute release on LP, yet John Barry only composed about 40 minutes of music for the film that was his own compositions. Tracked music from Elmer Bernstein and John Williams could be left out. It is a shame that they would allow a 45 minute album for Golden Gun, yet for Moonraker they could have produced an album that was almost "complete" back in 1979. The days when films didn't need to be padded from start to finish with music.

Well guys, another kick in the nuts. Apparently now someone else is taking credit for MY uploads. Some years ago, a site in Spain selling bootleg CDs called RareScores went out of business. I found a trade website last night that credits their own team with some of my Bond scores. And they are selling them for 100 Euros a score. This is going to happen no matter what ya upload, but ya know what? It's ok. Because regardless of what leechers do. It's not good to take away from those who stayed loyal to ya here. Let them leech.

Think of it like this. They're the fools. They're selling something that people can get for free from you. And they have a pretty big chance of being cracked down on by the law. They're selling copyrighted work for a profit. Much worse than posting it for free. If worse comes to worse you'll just be told to remove the links, but they'll be stuck with a hefty fine and told to pay back the money.

Plus you only have 3 movies left to post. Might as well just finish it up. Like I said people here have stayed loyal. Don't let idiot leechers and con-artist ruin it for you and the others.

I wouldn't mind Takehiro having a personal mailing list... but what we need is a confidentiality agreement that nobody reuploads/takes full credit for the scores... and remove the links from the front page. PM everyone who asks for whichever score. Like right now I'm waiting for TSWLM score. Watched it yesterday and thought that even though Marvin Hamlisch didn't compose a few songs (like Bach's Air and Elivra Madigan) I still thought he did a pretty good job for a 70's score.

Hey, I just downloaded the "From Russia with Love" score, and it was NOT the John Barry original version, but a new version by Christopher Lennitz. Does anyone know the back story on this score? It really is a GREAT score, kind of a homage to John Barry's original James Bond music. Very nice!

Christopher Lennertz did the music for the From Russia With Love video game that came out a few years back for which they even managed to coax Sean Connery to return to do voicework. This is probably what you're referring to.

Take i'm going to hit ya with a bit of honesty here for a just a moment man.

FIVE movies left. Apart from that I agree. It would be a nice wrap up of you finishing it for the loyals and so on.

Is this OST real, clean or fake? Well its being sold, not sure if it's yours...

David Arnold - Die Another Day (The Complete Original Motion Picture Score) (CD, Album) at Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/David-Arnold-Die-Another-Day-The-Complete-Original-Motion-Picture-Score/release/2193816)

No, David never leaked it out, he asked ME to do it, so I did!!! :)
David was mainly disappointed in Madonna's main title song, and the editing done on the CD, he felt that the disc could have been fuller and better edited.

Well since that be the case, would you mind possibly leaking a link of The Die Another Day complete score bootleg that's better than 128 (which is what I have of it) or else providing direction to a pre-existing link? Ideally I like to have it in 320 mp3.

I know this is really not the place for it but maybe you could provide a link to a link just so it can be found... I mean, if you can and want to.

Thanks.

I can supply you with the EBR version posted here in a better quality if you like? The version I posted is from the same DAT and it contains more music than the one you found on that website.

If its any cosolation, extreme variable bitrate (VBR 0) encoded with LAME is better than 320k.

Well, not THE worse, but almost. I have to say that the main title score from "Tomorrow never dies", which was thrown in at the LAST minute, in a special deal, apart from the composer, and without his knowledge, had to have been the worse one out there. The ORIGINAL main theme song, which was performed by K.D. Lang, is one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, I like Sheryl Crow, and I think she is a fine singer, but K.D. Lang's voice, as displayed on this song is SOOOO much more dynamic, and the song is one of those that kicks around in your brain all day. The song was retitled "Surrender" and it is used for the end titles. Check it out. I had a special version of this film produced on DVD with the original main theme put back in, which is about 25-30 seconds longer than the Sheryl Crow song, so special footage had to be put in, or the song had to be edited, and THAT I would NOT allow! It's great!

Thanks for your great works and great collection.I think among Arnold's works, "The World is Not Enough" is one of my favorite but it's the only one that is missing from a list of "complete" version. I've heard about some COMPLETE RIP version with sightly SFX but never really know it is real or rumors.Your "expanded" TWINE is one and only thing that made my day.Have you know why TWINE is missing?

William, you're absolutely right about "Surrender" -- what an excellent song. I don't mind the Sheryl Crow song, but if they had stuck with the original plan, they'd have been much better off.

Somewhat along these same lines, have you heard the Shirley Bassey/David Arnold song "No Good About Goodbye"? It wasn't written expressly for "Quantum of Solace," but it makes for a pretty good replacement title song for that movie nonetheless.

KaFaraqGatri
01-08-2011, 09:22 PM
I heard it WAS a title song, after all the first line is "Where is the solace?"

biff_stroganoff
01-09-2011, 07:02 AM
I'm no expert, but what I've read -- and I can't remember where I read it, even -- is that it was written after the fact, but was written by Arnold sort of as an example of what sort of thing he would have done for the title song if he had been given the opportunity. And some of the music is clearly reuse of some of his score for the movie.

Either way, it's pretty good stuff. Not as good as "Surrender," but definitely better than the White/Keys song (which has a few decent sections but is mostly pretty poor, in my opinion).

LTK file is expired for free download. Is there another link?

Thanks for Thunderball, anyway.

You should use "JDownloader". It works well with free links. And Premium. But also Free.
I sometimes get that for free links, but with JDownloader, I can just leave it sitting there overnight and hopefully the expiration will be done with by the time it downloads.
With JDownloader, you'll never have to worry about Captcha Recognition (for RS/MU/NL/DepositF/ZShare/Direct HTTP; for HF/FSonic/FServe/Duckload you'll need to input the Captcha) or monitoring the download. Just add the links, start the downloads and walk away!
It's as easy as 1, 2, BAM!!!
Just Add, Download, and walk awa--BAM!!!

MU does have issues on its own however. You might have to wait a day or two for that expiration to void itself. I waited an entire week in some cases.
It just takes patience.
With JDownloader, you can check on it to see if it's completed. It will complete the download, but it just takes patience for that expired problem.

I use JDownloader all the time, it'll auto-extract WinRAR archives (need to attach password to container properties if one exists).
For files that are split with HJSplit or whatever people use, it'll merge the split files (file.001, file.002, etc) into one file.
It does CRC checks as well to let you know if it turned out okay.
It aborts on extraction errors, you'll have to check the log to see what went wrong.
It also checks to see if the files are online when you input the links.
Works particularly well for people who give Multiupload links, as it'll check all mirrors it has been uploaded to.
