TOMORROW NEVER DIES is now posted.

I've heard (and owned) so many versions of this score that it can be hard to keep track of what's what. Two commercial albums were released in 1997 and 2000 respectively, but both had issues. A pressed bootleg was released a little while later and that too had its own share of problems, and of course there is the isolated score on the DVDs and Blu-rays. However, the track contains wild volume fluctuations and is heavily edited/tracks in parts, and thus is not representative of Arnold's original compositions (post production on the film was rushed with lots of last minute changes which affected, amongst other things, the music). I wanted to create a version of the score that not only was as complete as possible but also reflected David Arnold's music as he had originally conceived of it. After many hours of editing, tweaking and mastering, I think I have something that fulfills my goals. I wouldn't be so bigheaded as to say it is the "definitive version", as I believe that edition is still to come (if Eon pull their thumbs out and release official expansions of all the Bond scores, that is). However, I feel this is as good as can be done at this moment.

I could go on about the process and the little things I did but I will say that I am quite happy particularly with two cues. Company Car is now complete; compare this version to the commercial track and the edited film version to see what I mean. And although the levels are a little off due to the nature of the insert used in the film, it is nice to be able to hear an expanded version of Beamer Screamer (entitled Backseat Driver on the original album).

As an aside, I had intended to post a different score before this one, but I am still waiting on the finishing touches - I am still hoping to have that done by the end of the year.

Bloody good work, as ever, KFG. As Gallforce 007 indicates, Back Seat Driver, or Beamer Screamer (excellent title btw) is spot on. You nailed it.

Looking forward to more good stuff to come. I agreee with you, I just wish Eon would allow proper score expansions to be released - or at least put the missing tracks online, so we can buy the sodding stuff (surely they do realise that most of us will give them money for this stuff, oh well, maybe they think they have enough).

Thank you very much! I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I was amused to notice that 'White Knight' contains portions of the James Bond theme, James Bond is Back from The Opening Titles to From Russia With Love and Surrender. What an homage to Barry!

It is indeed. Perhaps that's why some people hated it, particularly John Barry fans. I worship the man, but still I've always loved Serra's take on the film.

Thank you for all your labor, KFG. BTW, in which cue of TND is the Thunderball reference?

Check out that motif around 21 seconds into An Urgent Call. It's definitely intentional, I think. A lovely little nod to John Barry :)

Many thanks for TND, KaFaraqGatri!

I appreciate the inclusion of the film versions of Company Car and Backseat Driver. It also hit me, for the first time really, how terrific the first part of Bike Shop Fight is. I love the combination of electric guitar and violins, with a sprinkle of harp and piano.

I'm happy to see you included the Beethoven piece. I hope you also include non-original music in The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. In TSWLM, there are some pieces which I'm pretty sure were re-recorded for the film: Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major; Chopin's Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2 in D flat major, with features a string section instead of just piano, as originally written; Bach's Air on the G string, which includes a synth sound at the very beginning; and Jarre's Lawrence of Arabia. In MR, I'm not sure Strauss' Tritsch-Tratsch Polka or Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy are re-recordings, but it's obvious Bernstein's The Magnificent Seven is; its sound is very Barryesque.

Anyway, thanks once again!

I am really anticipating not only the chess match music, the film versions of the Zagreb express and SPECTRE Island , but also the Gunbarrel/Stalking track, the reused Monty Norman score when Bond bombs all the SPECTRE agents on the boat (which is the same cue as the death of Dr. No) and the film version of Leila's dance. Fingers crossed for bluray rips of these to surface on the expanded editions.

These are film editor mixes made during the post-production process, and are not representative of John Barry's original compositions. The latter is basically a cut-and-paste job of Monty Norman's James Bond theme, which Barry was strongly against.

Well, my sources came through in time for the 20th anniversary - GOLDENEYE is now posted.

The main attractions on this, for me, are the new mix of the tank chase (thanks to RDAF) but also a rare instrumental of The Experience Of Love, which is not on any other expansions of this score that I have seen. I also took more care with regards to the mastering this time round and removed a duplicated cue from the old edition. Finally, like some of the other scores here, this is a gapless album for those using iTunes.

in the track 20 - Tank Chase Around St. Petersburg, at 3:40 you can hear in the clip.
I also wanted to ask, there is no version of the song by Tina Turner that feels like in the movie ???
Then also lacks the track tiger helicopter with Bond, it does not exist?

Sorry about that. I will upload a fixed version.

The title song in the film is a remixed edit, made from the single edit with a slightly altered bass line. As far as I know, it has not been released. Same goes for the Tiger escape.

Yes, but the film has received a digital release already, so some music may be isolated from that. And there is an expanded version of the OST on the Shrine with added music taken from a screener I believe and it is pretty well done.

Define "pretty well done"

They (I'm sorry I can remember who did it off the top of my head) had taken music from the screener (gunbarrell, end of PTS, JB theme into the end credits, to name a few) and whilst not as good as the OST, sounded listenable on headphones and even on my midi-system. I was surprised by how clean the rips were - no gunshot in the gunbarrel for instance.

I guess I define 'pretty well done' as not completely objectionable to my hearing, considering the source. But what is acceptable to me may not be acceptable to others. I assumed someone would do a better version (maybe KFG) once the film released properly. Hope that helps. If I can find the thread with the extended versionb, I'll post the link for others to judge the quality.

Indeed... James Bond would not nearly be the same without John Barry... it's too bad he was never given the credit for it that he deserved. Please forgive bringing this up in a tribute post... but I think we all know who really "wrote" the James Bond Theme.

Here's the unfortunate story: http://www.jollinger.com/barry/lawsuit.htm

It's pretty clear who did the work on the iconic theme; i.e. the same person who was brought back to score nearly a dozen more Bond films.

RIP John Barry, one of the very greats.

That's because the cue itself was released by Sony in a video blog about an explosion in the film getting into the Guinness Book of Records. You actually have Antovolk to thank for it as he was able to get a master copy with the sound mixed into separate tracks.

Sad news for Bond fans and Beatles fans: George Martin has passed away. At least his Bond score, along with John Barry, Michael Kamen and Marvin Hamlish's Bond scores will continue to live on forever.

Well written suteki. I couldn't believe at first. The fifth beatle gone. Seems he was active til the very end. At least I hope so.

And now Ken Adam has passed away.

That is quite shocking news, along with Martin. Ken's designs for Thunderball, Goldfinger and Moonraker were some of my favorite designs from him (especially Moonraker, with it's Lucas/Robert Wise/Kubrick designs as soon as the space scenes comes around. Then there's John Barry's magnificent score on top of that).

Don't forget the sets to Around The World In Eighty Days, Dr Strangelove and The Ipcress File.

To celebrate the late, great George Martin's contribution to the Bond films, here's the Live and Let Die suite from his 1974 album, Beatles to Bond and Bach.

Anyone else noticed track 2 (A Pleasant 'Fright') and the first 30 seconds of track 3 (Keep Your Hair On) is not featured in the film 'For Your Eyes Only'? It must have been a frustrating experience for Bill Conti watching the film and realizing how much of his music for the opening sequence that didn't make the final cut...

As many of you probably know there are a few soundtrack versions of FYEO floating around the Internet with slightly different running order, number of tracks and different track titles.
Does Kafaraq or anyone else know the track title on this version that corresponds with 'Death of Ferrare and into Greece', if there is one?

Anyone who's followed this thread since the old days able to help me here?

I had all the previous bond score releases from this thread on a hard drive that has died, and I lost the lot. However, a lot of the zip files for the soundtracks survive on another drive. I can retrieve them from those... If I can only remember the passwords to the rar files. I know FamilyMotto is a fairly recent password by comparison, but does anyone here remember the older passwords for the older rar files? Maybe you can recall them KaFaraqGatri/Takehiro?

I seem to remember a password being "Starkweather" or "StarkWeather" or even "starkweather"

I think "A Pleasant Fright" is in the wrong order on the soundtrack (it's too different to the "Flowers for Tracey" and "Keep your Hair On" tracks either side of it). Sounds like it fits in around the capture by Julian Glover's character just after the sub escape or around the mountain ending....

It's in the right spot. It was originally written to underscore Bond getting into the chopper, the pilot being electrocuted and the chopper turning into a nosedive, but John Glen decided to remove it.

In other words an unused track. Are there other tracks on your expanded version unused in the released film?

That one isn't on there. It would fit in between Runaway and Take Me Home.
