Hello, Gang. I just wanted to say that I don't know who did the 62 track version of "Diamonds are forever", or if it's an actual release from somewhere, but it is GREAT! I figure that it is bootleg, because of the MGM logo music, and the fast cutoffs on the "film version" tracks. Either way, it is really fantastic!

Thanks a million, William

Hello, Gang. Back when "Diamonds are forever" came out to the theatres, Roland Shaw and his orchestra did a two LP version of James Bond hits, with a truely FANTASTIC redo of the Diamonds are forever theme, with original incidental music, provided by Roland Shaw. I have never seen this record in CD form, and have long since lost the original from my collection. If anyone knows of it, or could provide a link, I would be greatly appreciative.

Many Thanks, William

DUDE!!! You did one hell of a job on that one! I listen to it CONSTANTLY! That, and the "Die another day" 2 CD version (did you do that one also?) are two of the greatest Bond scores to hit the pubic in decades!

The thread can stay as long as you make a new thread for every score. Basically, I guess you could just make a new thread and link to this one so people can comment and the like. I still don't see the point of this but the rules are the rules.

OR, you can create a new thread over "there", and just post the link here as well! It's a real pain having to look in 20 different places for 1 freaking link! Whoever came up with this new "Better way" has really got a screw loose!

The 2 Disc "Die Another Day" is a bootleg that has been on the web for over five years. Some have claimed that Arnold himself leaked it after being upset with the original album presentation, but that is merely conjecture.

Hey Takehiro,

Just downloaded Moonraker. Great work at removing the SFX and talking.
I do edits myself and am wondering how you're going about your editing process.

I'm guessing like me you rip the audio from the DVD in 6 channel, then you take the best parts of the audio and do your editing with some filters (noise reduction, perhaps) and EQ.

Anyway, from an audio-editing hobbyist to another, just wondering what you do ;)

Thanks and looking forward to more expanded vintage Bond scores.

IMO, Licence to Kill is highly underrated and one of the best Bond films. Its my favourite of the lot. Dalton was a superb Bond, and started all the dark stuff that Daniel Craig is now getting credit for. Dalton IS James Bond!

Lupus
08-23-2010, 12:45 AM
I also like Timothy Dalton as James Bond. Both of "his" films were really good. For me The Living Daylights is second after Goldfinger as far as both - cinematography and music are concerned. Licence to Kill is one of the most interesting and brutal films in the series. And Kamen is a great composer. Check out Lethal Weapon or Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Craig? Craig is no match for Dalton ;)

Reminds me of how, someday, everything comes full circle.

Kudos to Takehiro!

Another bond score from another Bond film featuring a brilliant actor who's bond films can be seen as the ground work for CR & QoS.

Yes, they tried to make bond more gritty in the late 80's and i think it worked.

Shame the idea was ahead of it's time with the idea.

THanks for the post.

KaFaraqGatri
08-29-2010, 02:10 PM
Totally agree. Dalton was interviewed on TV as CR was coming out and he was so modest about his dark and gritty portrayal when asked about his time in the role and the similarities between himself and Craig.

Excellent posts. Thanks. Can anyone tell me what is the music in the Spy who Loved Me, when Bond meets Stromberg (the villain) in his aquarium office in the sea base? Its also repeated slightly when the car becomes a sea vessel and they (Bond a cute girl) head for the base. Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks

You can find one of Timothy Dalton's finest (and funniest)
performances in Showtime's "POSSESSED", aired back in 2000:

YouTube - Possessed 6/11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGUm1U9Kakg&feature=related)

He plays no one less than the "original Exorcist", as the film's based
on the "true" events the novel "The Exorcist" originally was based on.

Kinda cheesy in places, but the acting is nothing short of brilliant!

best regards,
Sador

Looking forward to the next Bond installment.

I wonder how many people there are who, like me, got the extended iTunes score of Casino Royale, went back to the movie, and were surprised that Bombers Away and African Rundown played as a single uninterrupted piece.

Great job with this all, although I am slightly saddened that the Quantum of Solace score doesn't have “Time to get out” in two parts, as it plays in the movie.

KaFaraqGatri
08-30-2010, 10:49 PM
Its normal for a composer to do that, especially when the first part of a cue differs in terms of instrumentation and/or tempo to the second part. I just dont know why Bombers Away wasnt on the commercial album to begin with.

monkeygra
08-30-2010, 11:03 PM
Considering the structure of the Casino Royale score album, I think it makes more sense aesthetically to start out with “African Rundown” proper and leave out “Bombers Away”, particularly considering that movie soundtracks are rarely complete on CD anyway.

KaFaraqGatri
08-30-2010, 11:06 PM
If Chris Cornell hadnt been so up himself, the first track should have been the title song :P

monkeygra
08-30-2010, 11:21 PM
Also, why no Tosca music? I've seen the aria and theatre shootout (which I assume is another number from the opera) on another QoS bootleg that appeared to be the same recordings used in the movie.

KaFaraqGatri
08-30-2010, 11:37 PM
Because the Tosca music isnt anything to do with David Arnold; its source music.

Another fine release, thank you. in TWINE a great piece of music was used when Bond and Elektra ski to the pipeline. It was omitted from the official album but David Arnold put it up on his website. The other missing cues will be great. Fortunately TWINE was one of the better represented albums on the MCA label. Looking forward to FRWL and TWINE. After that I think you only have about 7 more Bond albums to go. The will be some of the most interesting releases too because Dr. No, TSWLM and Octopussy were terribly represented on CD.

Hey Takehiro, hold on for a sec, hear me out, If the utlimate edition of TND had an "isolated music track" on the DVD that allows u to watch the movie with only music and no dialogues and effects, how come no one has ripped TWINE yet?
TND is a great score, thanks for uploading it. Cheers =D

TWINE didnt have a music track. Some people have tried to rip music from it, but its been SFX-laden and cross faded with music from TND to make it clean.

Yea Thunderball surprised me I got the updated one that came out awhile back and thought WOW this may now be one of my favorite ones with the added music. Shows how sorely the score was treated on LP.
Actually Im looking forward too Spy Who Loved Me , and the Pyramid music without that horrible Eastern Lights music in the middle of it , who the Hell's idea was that to put it in the middle of some of the best music on that disc.

Argh the frustration! Even this, the most complete From Russia With Love score I've ever seen, does not have the track I want the most- the one between the end of the train sequence and the start of the truck scene. Oh well. Great quality throughout the tracks that are in there.

Takehiro- I should probably mention that there's an easily findable track that is missing from your OHMSS score that you might want to add to it. I normally wouldn't have mentioned it, but the score you posted actually contains two shortened versions of it: track 13 and 14 on Disk two are a radio edit and orchapella version of a much longer (and I must say INCREDIBLE) track. The full, finished piece can be found on the Propellerheads album 'Decksandrumsandrockandroll' and is imaginatively titled 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service.' It goes for a blissful 9:23, as opposed to the 3:26 and 5:37 of tracks 13 and 14 respectively.

And be warned, it is insanely addictive, in much the same way as Grantby's 'Timber' is an incredibly addictive rework of Diamonds Are Forever's '007 and Counting'.

KaFaraqGatri
10-27-2010, 03:29 PM
Thanks Brok. I am aware of the 9min track but it was omitted by the compiler because they felt the radio edit was good enough for a non-film piece. I have the single myself :)

Well Ive been given a sneak look at (or listen to) some of the tracks and I can confirm the gunbarrel is on there, along with the unreleased clean mix of the title song.

As keen ears will have noticed, From Russia with Love's main title is different on film than on CD. The film version has never had a release. As with TWINE, the main title song is a completely different mix (more orchestra and different editing and mixing). This unreleased track (like FRWL) is gonna be on the expanded album I will be upping.

Oh and plus, it looks like its gonna be a 2CD job :D

KaFaraqGatri
10-28-2010, 12:18 PM
Simple - in Nero just change the gaps between tracks to 0 seconds. In the case of LTK, just burn an overburn CD on the slowest speed and you will be fine.

NCFirebolt, whats the other 2? :P

tehƧP@ƦKlyANK -Ⅲ
10-28-2010, 12:34 PM
Yeah, that works too.
Generally for burning music to CD-R, you'll want Lossless versions with .cue files to help sort out the gaps more efficiently.
Having the Lossless version will give you real CD quality. MP3 versions are best for mp3 players. Or if you want to back them up to disc, back them in their native format on CD/DVD.
That way in the future, if you want to rip them again, you won't lose more quality. And if you want to rip them to lossless after, you won't be making a fake-lossless like some of the other scores out there (stares at the complete Bourne Ultimatum).

I don't know if .cue files will work for mp3, they might/should.
But generally, if you have the .cue file created from the same rip, you'll have an easier time burning to CD.

KaFaraqGatri
10-28-2010, 12:37 PM
Ive got lossless versions, its what I rip these from. I will upload them once I get on a faster line speed.

For me unfortunately, I haven't watched the old Bond movies in a while... they usually have at least 1 Bond movie a week on TV... last week was DAD, this week is The Living Daylights... and I might actually get to hear a John Barry score... should be worth it.
For now, my top 3 scores (in no particular order are TND, TWINE & CR) are all Arnold's. But that's all about to change.
But I can tell u the worst Bond score I've ever downloaded is Quantum of Solace and the only song is enjoyed was Crawl, End Crawl... even Time To Get Out wasn't as exciting as the African Rundown from CR... =(

Man, I do loves me some Bond music, and these are pretty much fantastic! This version of From Russia With Love, my favorite of the John Barry scores, was excellent. And this version of License to Kill was absolutely outstanding. I forgot just how good the score to that film was, though coming from Michael Kamen that's no surprise.

It's unfortunate to see, though, that Goldeneye still appears to be missing a bit. Particularly saddening is the fact that my favorite piece that was omitted from the commercial release is still absent here: the brief interlude of the Bond Theme when he first arrives in St. Petersburg and is walking out of the airport. It can't be more than ten seconds long, but they're ten of the best seconds of the entire score in my opinion. However what was added is great, and the sound quality, particularly for the title song, is stunning. It would have been cool if the demo version that Bono recorded singing it himself was included as well, but I already have that so it's no big deal. Though I do greatly, greatly appreciate that both versions of the tank chase were included. I bought the Bond Back in Action Volume 2 album years ago because it had the film version on there, but now for some reason that song, just that song, which was the only thing I bought the cd for, refuses to import into my computer correctly. So big thanks for that.

Up next on my to-listen list is Tomorrow Never Dies, which is my favorite of all the Bond scores. I'm eager to see if this version will be worth replacing what I already have.

Thanks for all of this! And add me to the list of those very eagerly awaiting The World is Not Enough. I'm also greatly looking forward to my second favorite of the Barry scores, You Only Live Twice. And that album of rejected music is particularly intriguing as well.

This is from an older CD I sourced back in 2006. I cant believe how MY stuff gets about!!! Anyway the gunbarrel is an incomplete mix of the gunbarrel ripped from DVD (its missing instrumentation, unlike the one on my CD). The horse chase music is also incomplete, I think ripped from a Dolby Surround home video mix. The fanfare is the re-recording from Bond Back in Action 2 (its on the clip). AAHHHH!!! I'm going mad waiting for TWINE!! Anyway, I'm going to watch [I]License To Kill [I] today... almost everyone on this thread said Michael Kamen did a great score, but I'm going to watch it just to be sure before I start the download.

Anyway, Takehiro, wich brings me to my question, look at this clip... it's the DVD menu of TWINE...

YouTube - James Bond Ultimate Edition DVD Menus - The World is Not Enough (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH_e09Z4yc0)

Where's the part between 0:04 and 0:07 inthe OST?

And last, the DAD menu... which James Bond theme is this?

TWINE is the boat chase music. Not sure about DAD but all the DVD menus use tracks from the commercial OSTs, so nothing new there.
Oh and the LTK score is amazing, I would kill for a proper commercial expansion. Some really great, brooding music (which Kamen does so well) for this darker Bond movie. I love the "I'd Need a Cannon" cue, as well as "Dario's Death" and Finale. Not to mention the epic "Sentinel" cue!

Thank you, Takehiro for the upload.

I'm really looking forward to listen to the complete TWINE-score. I love David Arnold's 007-work and although it will never be a match to any of John Barry's 007-work, I'm glad that he is doing the job nowadays. I believe Arnold's work on TND is still his best, with TWINE as a runner up. Arnold uses the James Bond theme in the scores in the same way as Barry did and I think that is the key of succes in the Bond scores. Never change a winning formula. Afterwards it was very difficult to match the excellent TND-score and therefore TWINE was an very good continuation. I was very dissapointed in DAD, because it wasn't an improvement or even a match of TWINE and I had a bad feeling on what he will do on CR. Maybe Arnold felt this also and the way he has done CR and QOS, both very good and fresh, you can feel he has still some span in exploring the 007-music. Hopefully his work on Bond 23 will be again a new, fresh direction.
Thanks again, Takehiro for the nice job and maybe we have to change your name into Takehero of the Bond scores... ;-)

Thank you but without even playing this, my guess its a rear channel DVD rip with the SFX edited out and crossfaded. Thats what every version is that I have heard.

I like some of DA's stuff, but to me I want a return to the classic, more romantic sound. I think its time they got someone new.

Also, DA is a bit of a bighead from what I know. That doesnt sit well with me, too much ego is a baaaaaad thing...

Arial - good points. It is mastered too loud and its quite a noisy score. For me, the quieter cues are the main highlights.

Yeah, I know you have great taste. I'm still enjoying from time to time a nice work of yours you posted in Flac... During the clone wars.

I completely disagree with everyone on this thread who says David Arnold can't live up to the score of John Barry... seriously guys, DA has reinvented Bond! It's the 21st Century people, u can't expect Barry to rise from the dead and do it? (I dunno if he's still alive... ) And DA's fusion of orchestra and electronica makes it all the more fun to listen to! TND's score was great and TWINE's is better! Although, he could have cut out on using the James Bond theme a lot, but nevertheless, enjoy it, TWINE's score is DA's best score. =D

Hehe loved the Gods raining gifts from above comment. Thank you so much :D

John Barry is alive and well - its his birthday today and Im gonna celebrate it by playing his music ALL DAY :D But naturally, its fair to say DA isnt gonna live up to an older, more experienced composer - not at this time in his life, anyway. Maybe DA will end up being the next John Barry but its doubtful. Besides, one JB is all we need in the world, right? Thats what makes him special.

I dont hate DA, I just dont think hes as good.

OK, i downloaded 140 MB just to have my favourite 1:00 of the score (the Bilbao Bank Escape!!) not on the CD. Now i have a grumpy face. =( When will update the missing cues?

KaFaraqGatri
11-03-2010, 02:38 PM
At present, that cue isnt available anywhere. The only versions I have seen/heard are DVD rips with the sound effects edited out, as I have said. Sometimes they are even left in!

I say be thankful for what you get - I am doing my best to scour the earth and provide you with the most complete versions of these I find.

And this goes for everyone - if you want to know if a certain cue is on, ask here or PM me before you download. I'll help where I can.

TWINE has some fine tracks and it's great to see this score get a decent release.

I always thought that the Soundtrack is ment to enhance the film and anyone listerning to the music and have seen the film will remember which bit goes where and maybe bring a smile.

This is what soundtracks do for me. Make me smile as i remember and this score is one of them.

Thank you.

Another reason I love JB - someone (I think Richard Attenborough) said JB is such a quiet man that his music has this wonderful sense of introversion that comes through in his compositions. For me, they hit the nail on the head with that statement. Even in his most intense action themes, it doesnt feel overblown or egotistical or superficial. DA, however, is a bit of a bighead (from what I gather, and he thinks hes funny when he isnt) and I think when you're like that, you kind of hit the audience over the head with noise and multilayered pieces to compensate for your lack of style or skill. Perhaps skill is the wrong word, as I do like some of DA's stuff. But no one beats JB and no one ever will.

There is a copy of the bilbao escape music on youtube (unless it has been yanked off). it has very minor sfx, and i do mean minor, otherwise it's clean. I slotted it into my expanded listing and it sounds fine.

I agree with that except I find Casino Royale and Tomorrow Never Dies to be the pinnacle of his music thus far. He really nailed the Bond sound and is the only other composer in the entire series to even come close to Barry. Hamlisch and Kamen weren't too memorable, imo. I personally like Arnold more than Barry but I'm a sucker for how David can write a visceral sound with the brass, vigorous string runs and driving percussion. African Rundown is a great example ;). John Barry top that!

John Barry: 007, Girl Trouble, Spectre Island, Golden Girl, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, OHMSS, We Have All The Time In The World, Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker, The Sniper Was A Woman...last but not least: HIS arrangment of the JAMES BOND THEME.

What would the "Bond sound" and all later composers of the Bond universe as a whole, be without all this music?

Point taken! I'm not saying that John Barry isn't good. I just think that Arnold took what John did and took it further. I found the older scores to lack the big and lush orchestral sound of Arnold (look at his orchestral arrangement of OHMSS Orchapella Ver.), but really the credit should go to Nicolas Dodd, Arnold's orchestrator. I guess I'm more into the contemporary style of DA. Barry did set the precedent and I will definitely agree with that DA wouldn't be where he is without JB.

Takehiro, even the Submarine Escape and Doctor's order cues are missing... u are missing quite a bit from TWINE... so, the score is far from being complete. U've got about 5 tracks missing. That's all i know and i'm counting on u for the remaining stuff. Now anticipating the Living Daylights OST.

Ok he has some other cues but the sound quality is too poor to be of any real use. The doctor love scene is lacking quite a bit of high end. It would stand out against the rest of the score.

Everyone, I have removed TWINE for now. I do believe NCFirebolt has a point about missing cues. Im going to see if I can get some of missing cues reinstated with the best sound quality. I will re-up soon and post the new version. Keep your eyes peeled.

I did say a few songs were missing, my suggestion is to keep the original OST rar file, and upload the missing cues in another RAR... that way, whoever's actually downloaded TWINE from you won't have to do it again.
PS. The Gunbarrel of TWINE has a very odd volume change and crackle... if u know what i mean, if u listen closely, it's like the Gunbarrel from TND has been mixed over it...

KaFaraqGatri
11-07-2010, 02:10 PM
There'd be no point adding a new RAR to the site. The id3 tags/track numbers are going to be out if sync then and some cues might be reordered/ changed with any new cues that get added. The artwork will also need changing. I'll let you know how EBR does with it.

Just listened to AVTAK, Takeshiro. It's great to here so many missing cues, but I expected the movie version of snow job instead of only short bits in the Suite, the music where Bond is reaching for Stacey as Zorin grabs here and the cue where Bond and Stacey are in the flames to name a few. I really hate to complain, as I know you're doing what you can, but I just think it's a shame these cues still are unavailable :(
Well maybe some day...Good luck!

No guys, u'll are wrong, worst official Bond movie was OHMSS... Lazenby really screwed up on it... he couldn't even climb up the machine's cogs without any difficulty... and he didn't drive the car during the chase thru the snow and the racetrack, his girlfriend did. Which was pathetic.

Our first difference my friend , I didnt like him, but the movie and music is great. He just wasnt Bond too me altho his look was more the Bond in the books , IMHO :)

Now taking Connery out of the running to be fair, I really liked Timothy Dalton, OK let me duck now.

OK. i take back my previous post, maybe i was lil too harsh on Lazenby. New contenders for worst Bond movie ever are between, DAD, OHMSS & QoS. Casino Royale 2006 was really good, how could people not like it? Bond 23 is coming out in November 2012... they better have a good plot and director... Marc Forester wasn't that great doing QoS's direction. Craig's talent is seriously being wasted...
