Little Big Man, the Dustin Hoffman classic about a 120 year old man telling his life story which consists of him being raised by the indians being a gunslinger, being an indian again, joining General Custers forces, having four indian wives, witnessing the Black Kettle camp massacre, being a hermit and being the sole survivor of the Battle of Little Bighorn.
Great comedy movie with some pretty gruesome images of the indian wars.

Paranormal Blahblahbity
I didn't find the movie scary at all but it does build tension nicely. Until the end, I respected that they didn't go about the "scares" in overly obvious, cliched ways (for a modern horror film). It wasn't just JUMP SCARE JUMP SCARE JUMP SCARE. The events are actually shown happening in a fairly subtle manner, just as is, without a bunch of obvious cues and cuts going around. However frightening it seems is created purely by the context. I like that. Ending sort of abandoned that though, going with something I find a little more typical for modern horror movies, and that really turned me off.
From what I've read it sounds like the "original" ending would at least be more interesting cinematically. The one in theaters just feels like a cheap, run of the mill last-second-scare straight from Cheesy Town.
Scariest movie ever? No. No one in my crowd even screamed or noticeably jumped. There was more laughter than anything. It *is* enjoyable though, and worth checking out, though I wouldn't say it's required viewing by any means.

The premise is interesting enough and at times the cinematography is innovative, but overall the film is boring and drags a lot with scenes of characters merely looking off in the distance. 'K. Well, if you get the DVD, I imagine it'll be 3D on there. I didn't see it in 3D either when I watched in the theatre. Personally, I have a hard time dealing with 3D-- I wear glasses and it's very uncomfortable trying to wear those 3D glasses at the same time you're wearing regular glasses. And not wearing my regular glasses is not an option, I am very nearsighted and without my glasses on I can't read these message from less than a foot away from the screen.
I actually think that you get a pair of special 3D glasses with the BlueRay, not sure about the DVD.
I have really poor sight too, but I use these disposable lenses for occasions like these.

Deadgirl - A movie with elements of horror and coming of age drama which never succeeds with either genre. The characters are seedy and unheroic and the main conflict in the story is not enough to maintain an entire hour and 44 minutes, so it drags on quite a bit.

The Stay Awake (1987) - Another bad 80s horror (this time coming out of South Africa) about a group of young girls staying up overnight at their college (at least they look like college girls). They are terrorized by a past dead murderer/rapist who has somehow been brought back as the angel of darkness. The worst thing about the film is how slow it is. I swear I fell asleep at least 5 different times watching it. The sfx are terrible, the logic is inane, and there isn't anything even remotely interesting or cohesive about the plot. The Ghost - Korean film similar to Ringu about a amnesiac college student who is trying to cope with scars from the past. Old friends start dying off and she has no clue as to why. The cinematography, lighting, and acting for most of the film is pretty well done but the scenes with the ghost are completely uninspired and felt more like rip-offs of other movies like Ringu, Ju-On, and Shutter. And the amnesiac angle added a nice layer to the film, but the twist ending just left me confused.

Cecille B. DeMille's The Greatest Show on Earth. Drama and romance mixed with a good bit of circus fun and also a good look at the behind-the-scenes nitty-gritty of the circus. 1952 Academy Award for Best Picture. From what I can tell from my limited research, it generally hasn't stood up all that well-- seems many people feel it didn't deserve its Oscar. I enjoyed it reasonably well, though it did drag somewhat at times and the acting wasn't the greatest.

London's River 2009
A docudrama on the London' terrorist attacks of 2005. As accurately put by IMDB user Dromasca; In the aftermath of the terror[ist] attacks in London two parents look for their children. She is an English[intolerant protestant] farmer widower from a remote island, he is from Africa, a Muslim and guest worker in France. Everything separates the two at first sight - religion, language, race and especially prejudice. They will get together because of the shared fate of their children, and they will go together through the painful phases of inquietude, fear, hope, and despair. They get to know each other, but this does not prevent destiny to hit them. I specially liked the use of the French language as a metaphor for communication.

My 2nd Danny Boyle flick this week, and it too was fantastic.
Lets face it, Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey is the greatest sci-fi movie ever made, and when Star Wars came along with its pulp space opera crap it ruined the genre for 30 years. Jade, a cam girl visits a tattoo parlor to discover the tattooist is a love from when she was very young, Takeko who does not remember her. And while the premise is interesting and the casting is great, everything else is not. The music plays tepid and adds nothing to the scenes, the story doesn't seem to be heading toward an impending climax until an hour into the film, and relationships between characters feel forced. Orphan - I really, really enjoyed this one. The pace was nice and the orphan Esther was super creepy, calculated, and scary at times. I can't stand most kids in films and all the children did a good job of not being overly cute or full of quips. And while I was already aware of the twist, the film was compelling all the way to the end.
go to youtube and watch Kreator's video "Enemy of God". there's Esther.... except she's cuter...
I watch The Fly (1986) and it was incredibly disturbing but awesome.
Chasing Amy
Holden's plan is painful to watch. Hyperbole for how stupid the things we do can be, even when we THINK we have good intentions.
The unburdening, the parking lot fight. Man...
The walk away is pretty excruciating, too.

No way, lots of good movies have come out this year!!
Up was great, Star Trek was incredible, Coraline was good, the Soloist, the proposal, julie & julia, blind side ( i go see movies a lot), ponyo, surrogates, harry potter ( I still have to see fantastic mr. fox and Princess and the frog)...
Those were my high points for this year in film, anyway.
It depends on what interests you of course, but I almost never trust movie reviews. I do, however, trust rotten tomatoes ratings sometimes.
"Time Traveller's Wife" with my fiance. Very different from what I predicted, but very moving, I thought.

I thought it was an intriguing movie with interesting character interactions and imageries. But I must say I liked the film a lot more before I read the director's pompous comments about it.
Before this one I just watched the 1945 classic, Dead of Night. I must say they really knew how to make black and white images unforgettable. Something that seldom happens with me with colored images these days despite high-end CG capabilities.

Public Enemies - Great production value, decent acting and action but I never really felt anything for the characters and their relationships with others. Also there was some shoddy camera work during certain action sequences that I didn't like. The film is worth the ticket for Depp and Bale, but it won't move you in any way.

Resident Evil: Degeneration, eh. Is that supposed to be before or after RE4? Leon is a different character. Clare was awesome though. I loved the part with the plane and the zombies falling out. What was with Angela's dress at the end? I think they were just trying to make her more feminine after being really mascline throughout the film, but it just made her look prego. Film needed more Chris Redfield.

It was comedic license being tortured and then thrown into the wood chipper lol. City Hunter was pure comedy/stupidity, a good movie to watch if you want a laugh imo. The whole film was zany and madcap though.

Dude, that movie is one of my favorites too! I haven't seen it since I was in school; in my history class (I had a very eccentric, upbeat history teacher) we watched that movie almost every couple weeks. Been a few years now, but I can still remember how funny it is! Now I wanna watch it!
