After listening to Space Adventure Cobra music on youtube,
I just suddenly got struck by the good ol' feeling of the 70s/80s themed music.

Now I snatched the OSTs already,

my question is if anybody can suggest more anime soundtracks that feature typical Space Opera music

I doubt I need to go into theory, but basically, I am looking for anime OSTs that have that mix of orchestral instruments as well as electronic stuff like e-bass/guitars etc.

Stuff like Macross DYRL, Captain Future, Galient (although I think I don't have the Galient one, but the intro sounds genuine heh)

I think the more you can get like that is or Kentaroh Haneda or Hiroshi Miyagawa. They both work so much in that "vibe" :)

In case someone may be interested.

I am going to start riping with or not sfx and speech of unreleased tracks for some animes or soundtracks.

I will rip the audio from MKV files themselves. Some MKV files have and audio swith for ost only, those are damn rare.
I dont care if they have sfx or speech, since at least I can hear it.
If the tunes appear more then once I can take a bit from here and a bit from there, something little from there too, and I will be able to make a awhole new track with not sfx, and amlmost mastering it.
What I have been doing with my Sukeban Deka project.

In case of OGM files, like domion tank police and silent mobious tv, it willhave to be worked like that, and may contain sfx.
So for now I only have generator gawl ripped.

If I am not worng, Mewsie you were looking for Bio Hunter ost, so ..... here I go. ;)

I have come back now to the my Dead Or alive Dimensions Music Project.
I delayed it on purpose because I was huning down the opera song that plays in Helena Videos. I just could not track it down. Although I know it is from a very famous opera piece.
I am still doing the booklet for it too.

Another project I am making is to rip the Devil May Cry anime unreleased tracks. I tried to look for MKV files in 5.1. Usually these are direct rips of the DVD 5.1. Which means there is a channel exclusive for the soundtrack part. But there is only a AVI rip on the web. So my idea is to create a Drama cd, that is going to work as a resume for the Series.
I know there ares some people, the demanding ones (which I preffer to say Fuck OFF), that ask for these but have not interests in doing this kind of work at all. It just takes 2 things: Dedication & Will. :glasses:

Here is an odd question, has anyone ever run across the two Shugo Chara!! Doki soundtracks? I know there are four soundtracks out for the first season fo Shugo Chara! I think Nipponsei released thoes... but the last season had two more included in the DVD box sets as well. I'm probably going to have to shell out $500ish someday to get these last two OST, but though it might be worth asking here.

Might take me a while to gather that kind of cash... hehe and just for the soundtrack... I've seen the series via CR... :)

Here is an odd question, has anyone ever run across the two Shugo Chara!! Doki soundtracks? I know there are four soundtracks out for the first season fo Shugo Chara! I think Nipponsei released thoes... but the last season had two more included in the DVD box sets as well. I'm probably going to have to shell out $500ish someday to get these last two OST, but though it might be worth asking here.

Might take me a while to gather that kind of cash... hehe and just for the soundtrack... I've seen the series via CR... :)

Yeah I've look at nyaa and tokyotosho, and all I find are the first four OSTs from the first series. The two Doki ones are just not there, either because nobody wants to shell out roughly $500 for a dvd box set or they are worried about getting caught sharing stuff.

Yeah its a new trend for companies to release soundtracks bundled only with either the first volume of the series (DVD/Bluray) or in the big box set. Think Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko two OST was released this way only... so either the companies are trying to make more money off fans or chase fans away... :\

Awesome! Thanks. I'm so glad I collected the City Hunter 1, 2 and 3 soundtracks. There's not a dud song in any of them. Even better that they have a scattering of English vocal tracks as well. Reminds me of the excellent "Abunai Deka" Movie and TV series soundtracks.

Sometimes, when finally we have a stand alone release of a osuntrack, it is missing music. Like SHIKI and Kuroshitsuji 2. The missing music, is on thedvd soundtrack bonus cds.

Well, could be worse: take the example of "Rittai Anime Ie Naki ko Remi" (not the modern one with the girl). The music was by Takeo Watanabe. Supposedly there were like one or two LP's with the soundtrack, but to this day no CD, AFAIK. I got a rip at 96 kbps at the Old Anime Thread, but I guess is as much as is going to get. You can say "Hey, at least there is music and a rip"...

When I first saw what Queen's Blade was all about with that Gorgeous soundtrack..... I spit and vomit.
It is a damn SIN for music so good to be embed in such a thing. Maybe Queen's Blade is good. But I am not going to see it. I am tired of FREE Boobs and Sexploitation Japanese are continuing to do in anime. Basically it is all menat for MEN to buy it. And as we can prove from that. Almost all japanese guys must have some problem for not having a real girl so these things are free masturbation stuff.
On the western.... we have guys with asian syndrome.

Jesus christ. When I see some old anime and for some reasona girl is naked, you don't have tha much sexploitation in it. It is like she is naked because it occured too. No big deal, we all came naked in this world.
Now, Bouncing Boobs all over the place and werid stuff. Japanese are going to far in my opinion with these things.

Well, you know what they say: if something gets released is because there are people willing to pay for it. As baffling as it is how much work gets done for such explotation anime, sadly is the common denominator these days. Even if it's not hentai, a lot of anime released nowadays have some sort of niche they want to pander to, like lolicon lovers and such fetish. That's the main reason I've been reluctant to watch new series: there's ton of anime that just don't worth it. I had to try every now and then, like with "Another". It was decent and interesting, but that's like the exception nowadays...

Yeah, I dislike officially released soundtracks in regards to not putting ~all~ of the music heard in the movie or show on the CD(s). I'm a HUGE collector/archiver of 80s movie soundtracks (you name it, I probably have it, as long as it isn't purely score/instrumental - only have a few of those for film's I love the music from, though I do beef up every soundtrack I extend with score tracks). I avidly extend them all to include every piece of music you hear in the movie and in play order. Concerning anime soundtracks, I don't have a lot of those, mainly the ones with English songs mixed in with the Japanese tunes. Right now, I have these in my collection:

Last comment, because I don't want to keep de-railing the thread: I'm not judging anime in general just because Queen's Blade, just pointing out what do I feel now that the subject was kinda touched (pun unnintended). Of course I don't think anime is all about that, but check any list and you'll see how quality has taken a drop since not so long ago: flash-like animation or cheap series to promote toys and such. Obviously I'm not blind, anime in the 90's wasn't that much different (for every Escaflowne or Evangelion, you had turds like the Art of Fighting OAV and such), but it's more notorious since the quantity is enormous nowadays. Or maybe it's just that as I hit 35 and got married, I'm getting too old for fanservice and such.

Anyway, is anyone interested in Black Magic M-66 OST / 320 kbps? I feel dirty just commenting and not contributing.

The most awaited anime fro me in 2011-2012.. was Shakugan no Shana. Nothing more. everything is the same. We have not anymore original stuff like we had in 90ts. Original and epic stuff.

Stick with those. I recorded a lot in tapes and still have some old released tapes from mangavideo. The joy I have to see good stuff. REALLY good compared to nowadays . Incredible rare to find good stuff nowadays.

Just like APPLESEED 13 tv series.

Shinji Aramaki, one of the Cyberpunk directors and supervisors in 80ts anime, like Bubblegum Crisis and MADDOX and much more. Shinji Aramaki directed the 2 CGI movies of APPLESEED. Both movies are gorgeous andthey are very faithfull to Masamune Shirow world.
The TV series of 2011-2012.....sucks. Suddenly we have too much fluffy characters, when in first they are adult.. Shinji Aramaki did not directed that shame thing called APPLESEED 13. The production of this bad anime made it look so 100% fanservice. What The Hell?
I stick with OVA of 1989, and the movies 2004 and 2007- And there is still to come a CGI movie that can Surpass what APPLESEED EX MACHINA has done. Biohzard Degeneration came in 2009, and CGI was incredibly low. It was not even better then Final Fantasy VII Advent CHildreen.
APPLESEED 13 was made in CGI too.... but what I say and some other people I know. They made us see a series with Gamecube graphics..... in 2011-2012.

You know, can I talk about Saint Seiya? I know it's mostly famous in Latinamerica, France and some countries. I mention this because I LOATHE the latest series (Omega) but have to recognize that the music is surprisingly good. More details later.

And yes, "Another" seemed pretty good to me, a mistery series with good dynamics, not everything is what it seems and make you second-guess a lot. Would like to recommend to see what others think about it.

I'm watching my "City Hunter Season 1 Collection 1" DVD box set right now and discovered something that really pisses me off when it comes to soundtracks. There are at least three great instrumental tracks that are used a bunch of times in the first four episodes and they haven't been officially released. That's just stupid. All the other great music, vocal and instrumental tracks, are available except these? Sure wish the set was in a true isolated channel DD 5.1 setup, I'd rip the songs right out of the episodes.

I'm sorry, I'm missing your point. Maybe what you're referring is that comment about nothing being original anymore like in the ninenties? I'll concede it's very biased. So it is calling those comments "ignorant". Let's consider a couple of things here:

a) Nothing is original anymore in a strict sense. All the stories always take elements from other stories in any media. Because the morals, values, archetypes and such are already there, is close to impossible to be "original". What is important is the way a story is told, how the "tale" is delivered. That's when things get original.

b) It's easyt to dismiss those opinions that claim that "everything used to be better" because, by fact, we know they're seeing things with nostalgia glasses and lack of knowledge of today's titles and the life of today's youth is different from when we had that age. But let's look it from the other point of view: there's TONS of anime today, more than what it used to be and more readily available. It's next to impossible to me to keep up, to take a look at every single manga and anime that gets released to pick the good from the bad. So I try to look at "what's hot" on some review sites and such. And sometimes it's a chore, so I don't have the time nor the same mood I had when I was younger to check everything. And as you may know, masses tend to choose the worst. So trying to check anything good just because "it's all the rage now" makes me bang my head more than once. Naruto seems somewhat interesting, but it has lasted so long and there are so many things I would need to check to catch up, I don't want to. I did it for Dragon Ball, but that was another time, another me. Nowadays, if anything goes beyong 24-26 episodes and hasn't hooked me in the first 5, I'm out. I've asked now and then for recommendations. People mentioned Steins:Gate and I tried. The damn girl with the toy annoyed me in the first episode, so I didn't finish watching it, but I'd like to try again.

That's my particular experience and it would be foolish of me to think that happens to everyone, but I guess some people might find themselves in such situation or at least in some of those remarks.

Oh, I forgot. The latest anime I watched, which was excellent in story, animation, acting and humor was "Avatar - The Legend of Korra Season 1". Didn't care much for the original "Avatar - The Last Airbender" (only viewed a few episodes here and there), but the sequel series is beautifully done. Can't wait to see what they do with Season 2.

My thoughts are exacly the same as you. I admit that I can be using sometimes Glasses of Nostalgia, but I try not to go there. Be as objective to the subject as I can. I can speak of experience and by analising people arround me. I have a friend and she is very young. Maybe 22, and she is now getting my point of anime nowadays not having even a inche of quality as they had in the past. She talks me about so much new anime , and Just don't feel like to see it. The anime is made in TONS because they know what sells. Lesbians, Breast, Panties, Incest and Lolicon. And they explore that as much they can. My relationshi with my EX ended because of that. Not because I was seeing those animes. For example, I downloaded at the time the ost of Queens Blade in her computer. I was going to be killed , in verbal way, just because she thought I wanted to see it. After she started to see what anime NOW is all about, she really freaked out. Becasue she never knew anime in the first place and she never cared for japanese. Now imagine someone with strong beliefs in ethic, and woman, discovering these dirty things?
She went nuts as hell, seeing "ethic"being raped and woman been ojectified in soo many firty ways. She even started to have incredible jelous of anime itself because she thought I was in fact using it for masturbating issues. I really saw an Horror movie comming from this. Hell, I lived in this horror movie. She went so traumatized by how anime is made today, that I really have to point to her, that she is right.
After all this, I decided to make her to see some of my top anime. And she started to get so surprised, because, for example, she never thought I would like such a big emotional movie as "Millenium Actress" which is still for me , one fo the greatest ART works in anime history.
The Art in Anime is dying in so much low levels.
Anime nowadays are target for Dirty lesbians and Dirty machos. You can't denied that. Only a fanboy will be offended of this issue, because that is what fanboys are. Never have the will to accept truth. Always accpeting teh worst shits of shits just because it s from the same creator of something. So if it is from then it is good.
I sincerelly get sick of beeing targeted with so much pervert pictures in anime, when sometimes I may be curiosu to see it, but when I see pics of it... "please not again."
The gamming merchandising is going for the same thing. Having anime in games that just no one care or... anime of games that no one is going to see because the anime is already telling what is in the game. So, what is the point of buying the game for the story if the anime spoils that much?
Persona Trinity Soul was very good, and was just events that happen between persona 3 and 4 (or something like that). now we have persona 4 the animation.
I am really getting tired of all the successive futile and consumist images we are being bombed everyday- The most sad thing is, People let themselves to be brainwashed like that. Because that is what is called to "all the successive futile and consumist images we are being bombed everyday-". Brain Wash.

Most of animators makes their own ways of making a storyline than follow the original storyline from manga which makes the anime make worse. For example at naruto, I like watching naruto, theres no question about it. But this anime become worse when they didn't follow the flow essence from manga. Like naruto shippuuden that the filler story way too long to finish unlike at naruto. Plus they makes the protagonist way more weaker than his foe from manga which even worse. They look idiots unlike in manga storyline they look more intelligent.

Say what now? Naruto shippuden fillers are a God sent compared to the orginal series. Yes it's true there wasn't that much filler in naruto...........that is until after the sasuke retrieval arc. After that we had gotten around 60 episodes of filler. Now THAT'S bad pacing. You can't have all this action going on and then make everything pointless. I followed naruto ever since it aired and for over 1 year and a half i watched each and every filler. You have any idea how much that pissed me off? Waiting for so long for something to happen? At least in shippuden they chop up the fillers so they aren't much longer than 20 episodes or so. The best filler so far was the crystal style filler. I also liked the one about the forbidden justu. Those actually had a decent plot and had somewhat to do with the original story. Those are the fillers i like. Fillers that can tell some of the story the manga was never able to show. Fillers that contain random stupid stuff make me very angry :(. The problem with the first series is that it finished to fast. Kishi wasn't able to make the manga far enough ahead of the anime so he wouldn't be rushed. So they had to make all those fillers just to buy him time. That's what all fillers are for. Fillers serve a purpose you know.

Also not everything the anime adds is bad. Remember the fight vs Sai and his brother? In the manga after sai shows his brother the book he starts to fade away. In the anime they actually showed how everything went down between them. though this wasn't from the original story i felt that it was a much needed detail. I mean in the manga we never did get to see how the fight between sai and his brother ended or how cruel danzo was since he threatened their lives if they didn't fight each other. An example of when anime shines that's for sure.

In some cases manga writers like how the anime takes more time to develop characters because since manga writers have deadlines and are usually rushed they don't have time to develop characters how they may have wanted to.

Well, all of Hayao Miyazaki's films are awesome. I never miss collecting them. My favorite is "Porco Rosso", followed by "Kiki's Delivery Service", then "My Neighbor, Totoro", "Laputa" and "Nausicaa". I love the newer releases as well, but the classics will always be the best.

Princess Mononoke has a special meaning to me, so that si in first. Right with Nausicaa. Oh man I love it so much , the first movie of hayao miyazaki., I still get impressed with the incredible animation works in it. and in third, Laputa with Howls moving Castle.
Sen to Chihiro no Kamikushi, is the only movie I don't like.. :/

Wish Disney wasn't so picky about Miyazaki's movies... :\ I still want to see Pom Poko again someday... ;-) [Saw it as a fansub right before Disney got the rights to all Miyazaki animated works. I should go buy Mononoke since it too was watched as a fansub oh so long ago...]

On another note, I might be able to buy one of the Shugo Chara Doki boxsets to get its soundtrack... Just $500 isn't cheap or easy for me to come up with. :D
