american soundtracks

☆☆☆☆☆Introduction★★★★★
In the begining, I never knew there was an american version of the soundtrack of this series. I got to know it a long time ago.
I am a part of the big 90ts people that grew up with Dragon Ball series. These series were brodacasted very late in the USA, like in year 2000.
I saw these series wehn I was 8, back in 95-96, so I much more familiar with the japanese original soundtrack. To be honest, I always hated the fact that americans have the bad taste and habit to change soundtracks. They are always (almost) bad and crappy. American cartoon shows music was never my thing as I cannot even recall any of the scores or tunes.

☆☆☆☆☆My Experience★★★★★
Even knowing this, I went to give this an opportunity, just to see if it was something even worth listening. And I was impressed in all good ways you can think of.
Bruce Faulconer did a splendid job, if I may say so. There are no orchestral cues, and nothing that the 90ts people might consider at the standards of what Shunsuke Kikuchi had thrown to non-american residents.
Bruce Faulconer was not entirelly in charge of the music in the whole series. He started to work on it since Season 3 and stayed to the very end of the series. (There were 5 more composers in charge of the music before Bruce.)
Bruce presented us with heavy guitar sounds, a lot of synths and very melodic compositions, that satys in your mind. Which lead me to another thing I find lacking in american cartoon shows. Mos of them have no compositions that sound cathy to you right away, or sometimes, they just recicle stuff. Pretty much like Tom Keenlyside, which was in charge of the music in DBZ Season 4, recicling his music from Megaman USA TV series. So, a soundtrack that does not sound catchy anywhere, is for me, boring.
Bruce overcame that issue. A lot of melodies and compositions that I heard at the time where repeated both in my head and the cd player.
I have a lot favorite tracks, but my favorites are the ones I call EPIC, because they are freaking EPIC.
"Perfect Cell's Theme" and "Super Buu" blow my mind in such ways, and I had those tunes in my head for months since the first time I heard them.

☆☆☆☆☆The Feeling★★★★★
There is another issue of this soundtrack, which I found interesting, But can only be felt by the 90ts people that saw this anime with the original japanese soundtrack.
The music of Faulconer gives us a whole new image of Dragon Ball Z. The music is set in such an original state and a completely oposite environment to the Shunsuke Kikuchi compositions.
Some of the tracks really made me lopp in my head some of the marking scenes of the series and replaced it with Bruce's music. And the result was astonishing even for my mind. 0.0

☆☆☆☆☆Conclusion★★★★★
The american soundtrack should be compared with the original japanese soundtrack. Keep in mind, that this is just something different.
Most of those who grew up in the 90ts with DBZ, hates the american soundtrack, which I can understand why, specially with the Ocean Dub version composers that just sucked and recicled stuff of their own.
Imagine, hearing a the theme of Megaman from the 90ts TV Series when Goju goes Super Saiyan. Hillarious!
But in case of Bruce Faulconer, I think he saved the series with his music kind.

☆☆☆☆☆Personal Liking★★★★★
About the cds, I have favorites. I like to call those that I like "Character Albums". I call that because, the albums of Trunks, Majin Buu, and Android 18, have a certain magic in my opinion. They follow an idea, and idea that evolves throught the cd.
The other cds, is not that I don't like them. I do like them, really. But it is so random. And I really wanted more kind of "Character Albums".

I recomend you to listen Bruce compositions, if you are DBZ fan that saw the series with the original japanese soundtrack. But listen it with Open Mind. It is worth it. :)

☆☆☆☆☆Go Download Already- XD★★★★★
I have added Bruce Faulconer comments of each cd from his own website. All files are Mp3 and Scans included :)

Have Fun!!! :) :p :D

THE BEST OF DRAGONBALL Z: american soundtrack Volume I (https://mega.co.nz/#!yUJmjCTQ!NaHQZlFk-BUrYD2UdMj6lV-IgvgBCT6IbUPktGgE5bw)

"Over the past three years I have received a lot of emails and phone calls asking if I would ever release the DragonBall Z background music (the soundtracks) on compactdisc. Well, I have been listening to you and have been working hard to make your requests happen.

I really enjoy writing music and working on DragonBall Z. I first met the gang back in episode #68 when Gohan and Krillin were on Namek waiting for Goku to arrive. Vegeta was scary and hard to figure out, and always thinking about himself, but what’s new there anyway?

And who would ever figure out Bulma?- She is awesome and unpredictable. But aren’t all the DragonBall Z women awesome and unpredictable? You know, ... Chi Chi, Maron, Android 18,Videl, ...

I can tell you that over the years the range of musical styles needed to cover this epic story has been huge. And if anyone ever asks you if you’re havin’ fun yet...tell ‘em I said yes! Thanks to all of you out there who kept after me to get these CDs out. I hope you enjoy the selections, and if I missed one of your favorites, let me know."

Here are some more of your favorites from the epic saga of DragonBall Z. Listening to the affable strongman's Wrestling Rock (he's the braggadocios Earthling with the Dark curly hair) reminds of the character growth he goes through. DRAGONBALL Z: american soundtrack : BUU The Majin Sagas (https://mega.co.nz/#!KBoBCa7Z!ZqAkGiBrHo4s1FXidEToai8_pkMwzhPXBlE8fQO j3fk)

"The maniacal Babidi wielding his evil mystical powers conspires with his minions to resurrect Majin Buu, the most evil being ever known throughout the history of the universe. Babidi's success threatens the universe with extinction.

Yet what emerges is probably one of DragonBall Z's most complicated beings. Who is this Buu fellow? The dramatic and musical journey we take through the Majin Sagas with Buu gives us more surprises than answers. The music of Buu reflects his many moods of evil. As he evolves, so goes the music: mystery, terror, the dichotomy of evil innocence, and more. There's over 60 minutes of music from the Buu Sagas on this CD; that's 31 tracks of terror, action, and adventure!

Don't listen to this CD in the dark.... who knows where Buu might be lurking? So watch out.... and please do not get turned into a bar of chocolate!"- Bruce Faulconer

"Trunks has become one of my favorite characters in the process of doing the show music. I really like how far he will go to meet the challenges before him. He’ll even travel across time and space to help out. He’s not afraid to try hard when success seems impossible. Don’t we all need that kind of friend once in a while?

I think a lot of you like Trunks, too, because many of you have asked about his music. This CD is a musical journey through some of my favorite pieces in the Trunks Sagas. The pieces are drawn from different episodes of his sagas, and I have combined them into a musical adventure for you.

As a special bonus track, I have also included the actual complete soundtrack for episode #120, “Another Super Saiyan.” This is the episode where Frieza and his father, King Cold, come back to take revenge on the Earth and the mysterious young fighter, Trunks, shows up to thwart their evil challenges.

You have also asked me about your other favorite characters music as well, so I’ve been listening to you and I plan to release CDs with your favorite music tracks. The next CD will be the second volume of the Best of DragonBall Z soundtracks. If the character CDs are popular, I will release more of them, too.

I’m also writing original songs for release this year, with lyrics in English and the works! I am trying to keep those under wraps so I can release them all together in one CD collection; the anticipation! I may spirit bomb that idea. Somebody hand me a sensu bean."- Bruce Faulconer

"Power up to SSJ3 all you DBZ warriors, because here is sixty minutes of nonstop action. Z fighters, prepare to do battle with the likes of Frieza, Cell, the Androids, and even Majin Buu. Talk about Kid Buu waiting; I know all of you have been waiting for “SSJ3 Power Up.” This ascension has finally arrived after too long a wait. But great things come to those who wait. And wow, did we ever have to WAIT on Goku when he used this level of power?

As a special treat, this CD contains Goku’s musical farewell to the gang, as he and Uub fly away to train in Uub’s homeland. Does this guy ever stay home? That backstory could probably take a whole movie to explain.

Well, I am talking with the Twentieth Century Fox people about doing the music for their live action DBZ movie. What a blast writing that would be. Stay tuned for more music news from the frontlines later.

Meanwhile, it’s back to DragonBall Z!"- Bruce Faulconer

"It’s an Android invasion! Just as Trunks predicted, literally numbers of Androids are appearing on earth. Goku and our other heroes are sure going to have their hands full. These Androids are ruthless, maniacal, and programmed to destroy … 20, 19, 16, 17, and 18. Have I lost count yet? Oh yeah, so guess who A-21 and A-22 are?

While the evil Dr. Gero has been plotting the destruction of the world, creating havoc throughout the universe, he knows little about what’s coming his way. Payback’s gonna hurt! Does anyone else deserve it more? … possibly, but that’s another saga!

Meanwhile our heroes have been training and must now use their newly found powers with steadfast determination. Will the good guys find a way to turn the tide on evil and its minions? But how will this saga turn out? Lots of surprises are coming our way.

I guess in a way, Dr. Gero isn’t all that bad though; after all, he did create one of my favorite characters. She’s drop dead gorgeous and will drop you dead in your tracks … if you’re not careful. She’s a bit of a mystery, too, but that’s always the case when your falling for this hottie…right Krillin? Android 18! Hurt me!

And so does love conquer all? I guess we’ll have to just wait and see…"- Bruce Faulconer

THE BEST OF DRAGONBALL Z - american soundtrack VOLUME S I X THE LOST TRACKS OF DBZ (https://mega.co.nz/#!jQY0Ebxb!Cau1SE7LWlUJbxnSfvqm6AHsyCt93MSXIvZgumu SzOQ)

"Well here it is: Roku for Goku! That’s “six” translated into Japanese, but we packed in over 60 minutes (71!) of music into this collector's Volume; these are the Lost Tracks of DBZ!

I’ve been busy on other new and exciting anime projects lately! Check out my sound design on the newly released animated feature movie, "LADY DEATH". Also coming soon will be my music and sound for the animated films for D7 Nightfall and other Dementia 7 Studios film projects. Very cool stuff! I don’t usually repeat myself, but in my appreciation of you, the fans of DragonBall Z and my music, I have to say this again! DragonBall Z rocks and you rule! Your power levels have made DragonBall Z rise to it’s place in TV history, being one of the very few shows dominating the competition to reach the pinnacle of being a number one show on Cartoon Network as well as all Cable TV Networks.

KAMEHAMEHA!!! … and thanks again to all of you.

DBZ FANS ROCK!"- Bruce Faulconer

26. GOHAN POWERS UP [2:34]

This one is so amazing. One of the reasons why I prefer Bruce's bgm over the Japanese when it comes to Buu saga.

I can't agree with you there. :)
Like I said, you can't compare them. It is like comparing an orange with a horse. It's different. I personally preffer Bruce's music then all those other horrible composers that were in the music of DBZ before him. But Still, I may like these cues a lot, but the japanese soundtrack is far more memorable.

I have been working about that in the thread of teh same title above.
I have not re-uploaded none of them, because I have been working in custom albums made and produced by myself.
For now I worked in 4 Volumes (to work as 4 albums) and each of them has a unique fan remix as first track and theme of the Album. Right after that I am introducing some interesting bonus tracks. Bruce Falcouner works were also played in some Game Boy Advance games. So I am adding "some" (not all) that fit the album itself according to the ripped music done there.
The cover and booklets are being worked in same line as the original Bruce's releases. Same as Colors and such.
I have been editing some of the rips, cut some noises and some glitches. But that is not that simple to work on. :(
the first volume will be ready soon. After I finish my "Mortal Kombat Konquest" and "Dragon Ball" projects.
:)

I'm DESPERATLY looking for a piece of music in DBZ by Bruce Falcouner, one time where it plays is during the Friezer saga - just after frieza has wounded piccolo exactly whilst gohan is screaming his name. It plays throughout the series in other episodes and seasons too.

Please, please can someone just tell me the title, i'm positive its not on any of the above soundtracks ??????????????

Interesante tema, Aunque las versiones de Estados Unidos no tienen un soundtrack relevante, son esenciales para todos los faanaticos de esta serie.Gracias.

Nice article :) It's cool to see a fan of the original show with such an open mind!

Just wanted to spread the word that there were four composers that worked on the Faulconer Productions Music score: Mike Smith, Julius Dobos, Scott Morgan, and Bruce Faulconer.

you're welcome.

Seems like imageshak.us, as evolved to super bitchy. So my account now is locked until I upgrade forcefully. And meanwhile the pictures I had there, are starting to have weird resizing options in my threads.
Kudos for you imageshack.us stupid life beings. -_-

I had to use new pics for the main post, since it had all the sizes crazy.....

The link for The Best of Dragonball Z Volume 4 is the same as Trunks Compendium 1. I tried the links for both Trunks Compendium 1 & Best of DBZ Vol 4 for myself, and I found out that the HTTP links for both soundtracks are the same.

Thanks for noticing that. It's fixed now :)
Mega is not so friendly in that button of copying links to board. It's always doing me that trap.

That's alot of dbz tracks. Would you happen to know where I can find the 'Original' Bardock TV Special Soundtrack. (US).
I can't even find an official retail link.

Update: I found a s*** load of dvd rips at kametsu, including the track Trunks Story, the 2nd half of which was the end credits music for the toonami version in 2003.

Sor-ry. No need to get hostile. I have problems with mega. I'm not here to make it anyone else's problem.

---------- Post added at 04:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:18 AM ----------

I was referring to the history of trunks soundtrack. I accidentally posted in the wrong thread.

I was not hostile, I was saying that the problem was yours, as in, it's a problem on your side. So I said you could try using the latest winrar. It was just a misunderstanding of comprehension. No "hostile" issue supposed to be there

There's nothing wrong with my winrar. Everything in this thread is fine.

FYI - You don't need winrar to open/extract rar archives. 7zip can do that, and it's free.
