any news for the Christine isolated music on the rare BD from Twilight Time?

I own the Blu-ray, but I don't have a Blu-ray drive on my computer.

Ordered this today. Will upload, when it arrived and all the work is done.

Update #1: just wanted to let you know, that I received the disc today and I did a quick listen. This will be tedious project, that's all I can say for now. Different order, alternate material, longer in film, shorter in film, longer on OST, shorter on OST, unused material, segments I have no idea where those were supposed to be used... basically every rule in the book ;)

Update #2: Almost finished. Expect around 28 tracks and 50 minutes of music. The OST had around 43 minutes.

I found this online, so I thought I'd share it with you guys & gals.

Here's the isolated score for the 1983 movie "Christine" from the (sold out) Twilight Time Blu Ray. It's not split up into tracks or volume-adjusted or anything, I'm simply uploading the unaltered iso score track in a wav file. Enjoy!

Chrjciso.rar | Game Front (http://www.gamefront.com/files/23362971/Chrjciso.rar)

Also, I've asked this before, but if anyone happens to have the Twilight Time Blu Ray for "Night of the Living Dead" (1990) (also sold out), and would kindly be able to upload the iso score track, I would be more than eternally grateful!

I do have it, however... if you want the best quality, try to find this one:

Numenorean Music NMCD 003 has the same music on CD2 plus that you can have it in true lossless.

Flac

Speaking of, it updated on May 26/27 (depending what site you go with) to v1.3.0. :awsm:
No longer v1.2.1.

The front-end updated (flac.EXE).
Programs that work directly with the flac library (.DLL) don't need updating.
The udpates are only relevant to front-end with a CLI (command-line interface --- flac.exe).

Programs that can use the 1.3.0 update? (flac.exe)
Foobar2000
Exact Audio Copy (EAC)
FLAC frontend (formerly of SourceForge.net with the official 1.2.1 installer)

Programs that don't need the 1.3.0 update? (flac.dll/libflac.dll)

Since the exact same music was on an official release, i thought you would prefer a rip of that. Nothing new in the isolated and it will not be lossless. Your choice, let me know...

But I guess i could upload it. If so, give me a couple of days. The external that it's on is unavailable at the moment.

Those films doesn't have an isolated score. I'm not sure if you are asking if anyone has tried to isolate the music from the films speech and sfx? Those are not isolated scores, i'm afraid. Read my first post in this thread on an explanation on what isolated scores are. It's a common misunderstanding calling rips with sfx and speech for isolated scores.

Since the latest release of this was by Varese, I cannot share any links, publicly or privately. I hope you understand that i don't want to risk a ban. I will leave the info for it though, for "educational" purposes.

This is taken from the Isolated BluRay score. The wav-file for it was kindly uploaded by dsguardian (http://forums.ffshrine.org/members/dsguardian-167726) here http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/isolated-scores-113650/31.html#post2362906. Thanks :)

What i've done is the usual editing and splitting, but this time i have also tried to find all the songs used in the film in lossless. There are a few tracks that are questionable when it comes to lossless and one track that i know isn't in lossless. Should anyone have it in lossless or the possibility to rip that song from a CD for me, i would be grateful :) The song is Not Fade Away by Tanya Tucker and appears on her CD TNT. Also note that some of the songs appear twice here, but that's the way it was in the film. If you don't feel the need for repeating, then switch to deleting...

Anyway, enjoy this

1. Bad to the Bone (George Thorogood & The Destroyers) (4:50)
2. Not Fade Away (Buddy Holly) (2:21)
3. Not Fade Away (Tanya Tucker) (lossy source) (4:04)
4. The Name of the Game (ABBA) (4:53)
5. Arnie's Love Theme (1:17)
6. Runaway (Bonnie Raitt) (3:25)

10. Football Run (2:07)

New and working links for The Bone Collector, Chariots of Fire and Edward Scissorhands.

And as a special treat - The Edward Scissorhands rip is new and improved. Hopefully a little better quality, but more important - more music (even if it isn't much)

Enjoy!

Which yours most probably will be as well... but as foxtown says, perhaps in a higher bitrate. Just because it's on a bluray doesn't automatically make it lossless. In fact, i have close to 100 discs with isolated scores and quite a few of them on bluray and so far only 2 or 3 have been true lossless isolated

?!
According to this (http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/movies/specs?audio-type=isolated-score&track-type=any&video-type=any&sort=title-name&dir=asc&distributor=twilight-time), Twilight Time releases tend to have isolated scores in lossless DTS-HD MA.

As far as i know there is no isolated score for Replacement Killers. Unless you mean that someone has tried isolating the music from the sfx? If there is a release with an isolated score, i would like to know which one (DVD/BluRay) that is :)

I haven't forgotten about all the projects I announced. Like Frozen Planet, Breathing, The State I Am In... and this one. I started working on this, finished up 11 tracks out of 39 or 40. Provisional artwork here:

There isn't, after doing some google searching.
I thought I saw it once before but there's no trace of it on the internet anywhere.
Maybe a rare pressing from PAL regions? It could be misinformation and disproved. :itsamystery:

None of these reveal Replacement Killer's having an isolated score in any medium.

I compared the cues so i could at least name the ones that was on the OST. They're not identical, but then again... that is not uncommon, is it? :) Those tracknames are perhaps not what i would have chosen, but i decided to keep the originals.

Is that the reason you ask?

The pre-requisites (as i use):

BluRay-player (of course ;) )
AnyDVD HD (free for 30 days, i think)
BDInfo
HdBrStreamExtractor
EAC3TO with ArcSoft's DTS HD filter

All these will play your bluray (the player), remove any protection on the disc (AnyDVD HD), help you find out what track to extract (BDInfo), extract the desired track (HdBrStreamExtractor) and convert it (EAC3TO) to a wav-file ready to edit. What program you use to do your editing is up to you. Adobe Audition is one suggestion...

Google is your friend on how to use these programs :)

Here are a couple of ideas i've been thinking about...

Part 1 - Includes starting a new thread where i (on request) upload score related tracks from DVDs and BluRays that i have. That could be documentaries, commentaries and the likes. Problem here is that it will take some time for me to go through my 1000+ DVDs and 300+ BluRays to be able to make a list of what i have. If anyone wants to contribute to this thread - Great! :)

Part 2 - This will be a sort of "pool" of raw isolated tracks, straight from the BluRays and DVDs. This means the extracted file with the actual isolated track in the original format (AC3, DTS, PCM, TrueHD, DTSHDMA or whatever). This "pool" would however not be freely available to anyone, just like that. More like a trading post. You give me a track with an isolated score i don't have (in original format) and you can take your pick from what i have.

Part 3 - Seeing as there are a few that have asked about how i rip an isolated score... I could possibly make a guide on how i do it, but that will NOT include the editing part. Just what it takes from disc to best possible wav-file for editing.

So, here's the final problem: I know that there aren't many that read what's posted here (for it can't possibly be that lots of people DO read the posts and then just don't bother to click "Like" or post a "thanks", can it? :-P ). The problem is, would i be doing this for an extremely small group of people? In that case, that group would have to be just a tad more dedicated than the average user here, meaning active with posts and perhaps even contributing with uploads of their own.

For those of you that read this - Is this interesting? Is it partly interesting? In that case, WHAT part(s) are interesting? And please, take your time to answer, because the result is what will possibly make this happen ;)

My two cents:

Part 1 - Includes starting a new thread where i (on request) upload score related tracks from DVDs and BluRays that i have.
I don't see the difference to this thread.

This "pool" would however not be freely available to anyone, just like that. More like a trading post.
VERY bad idea.

We already exlained the process from disc to HDD, for DVDs and Blurays. Tutorials on the editing process would be most desired by the community, though I'm sure.

My two cents:

Because it would be score related instead of isolated scores. Not music but ABOUT music. This thread is meant for isolated scores, not for (let's say) an interview with Jerry Goldsmith on his scoring on Omen (example)

I would be prepared to be part of a smaller more dedicated group that could put this together. But you would not, i take it?

Those features are rare, and I don't think they would justify a separate thread. Especially since demand for it will be low and those features usually come from the isolated score. So the audience for this are coming from this thread anyway.

Because?
Not freely available for all that easy... trading... Not an ideology that is of high reputation in this place in general.

Not that rare, actually. I can dig out lots of them and they are more often than not a separate feature, not a part of the isolated score.

The end result (the music) is available freely for anyone as soon as i post them here. I don't think that the average user would be interested in these, so i was offering this to the likes of me that have lots of them and therefor we could help each other with our "collections".

Trading for raw files of the isolated score would not be entirely active.
Since the market is already low for availability, there's a good chance that most of anything has already been posted here in mp3/flac.
Commercially, they're really rare and hard to get a hold of. Ebay and Amazon are probably safe bets to obatain DVDs/BDs with iso scores.
I think keeping it as a request upon demand would be better.

As for a writing guide, more wouldn't hurt either way.
Just the extracting, let them figure out the editing process they want.

As for eac3to, it's updated to 3.27 recently.
And the ArcSoft decoder has updated to 1.1.0.9 recently.
Although, no one's been able to do extensive testing to see how accurate v9 is compared to the other decoders.
Presently v1.1.0.0 and v1.1.0.8 are the best to use.

Honestly, I have nothing I could possibly contribute to such a thread. :(

Don't feel so bad. I only got one thing and I've been delaying it for over a year now!

Here are the Blu-Rays that I own with Isolated Scores;

Alien
Aliens
Alien Resurrection
Christine
Fright Night
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Big Trouble in Little China
Twilight Zone Season 1
Nicholas and Alexandria
As Good as it Gets
Contact
Marilyn Monroe Collection
All About Eve
North by Northwest
The French Connection
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Notorious
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Paranoiac
The Omen
Vampire Circus
The General
X-Men First Class
Young Frankenstein
Wizard of Oz
The Dorm That Dripped Blood
Ben-Hur
The Big Heat
The Egyptian
Planet Earth (UK)
Superman The Movie

I'm guessing all Silent Films are considered Isolated Scores? If so add these;
Battleship Potempkin
Gold Rush
Metropolis
Modern Times
Strike
The Phantom of the Opera
Sherlock Jr.
A Trip to the Moon

It looks like Nicholas and Alexandria will be 36 tracks.

O_O :bearclap: Well done!

The only other stuff I have was already posted but without the composer commentary.
And I think there's only 3 with composer commentary: Carter Burwell, Don Davis, Lalo Schifrin.

Since the film release of this was by 20th Century Fox, I cannot share any links, publicly or privately. I hope you understand that i don't want to risk a ban. I will leave the info for it though, for "educational" purposes.

Back from vacation (which was very nice, thank you :) ) and offering you Young Frankenstein.

The procedure this time is a bit different if you want these:

1. Click "Like"
2. Post a "Thanks" (feel free to add any other comment as well).
3. YOU send ME a PM asking for the link

The reason for this is that i have grown tired of posting and having no idea how many that really are interested in my posts. Another reason is that your posts helps to bump this thread and make it more visible for others.

Not that hard, huh? :)

Ok, here's the info:

I'm not sure if this has already been mention or not, but the isolated score on the upcoming Oblivion Blu-ray is lossless 24-bit/96khz. Sadly, this still isn't a guarantee on all HD isolated scores.

I would say that Twilight Time's releases are the best bet when it comes to true lossless isolated scores. Aside from them, i have found only a handful out of the almost 100 DVDs/Blurays i have bought that have true lossless...

EDIT: *out of the almost 100 DVDs/Blurays with isolated scores...

To all wondering about Oblivion and the bit depth:

I downloaded a full disc remux (1:1 copy).
I used eac3to to transcode the TrueHD to WAV.

eac3to reports:

eac3to v3.27
command line: eac3to "F:\JDownloads\Oblivion\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00800.mpls" 8: TrueHD.wav

[a08] Some WAV readers might not be able to handle this file correctly. (WARNING)
Video track 2 contains 179395 frames.
eac3to processing took 23 minutes, 56 seconds.
Done.

So it's actually 18 bits and not 24. Or even 20.

I know a lot of you are using Foobar with the DVD-Audio Watermark Protection detector plugin.
But that's an experimental plugin. Development has stopped and no further progress or updates were made on the TrueHD decoding.
I suppose no one over at the HydrogenAudio forums invested too much time into testing it with TrueHD tracks? :itsamystery:
If Foobar is giving you 24 bit depth, it's reading the container flag.

It is stored in a 24 bit container only to preserve anything higher than 16 bit depth.

HDCD works in the same fashion.

:doc: WAV size of decoded TrueHD is 12GB.

Converting to FLAC now to see final file size in FLAC.
eac3to uses -8 for compression size by default.

EDIT1: On a side note, it was nice to see there was no gaps or overlapping sequences.
eac3to is recommended for any conversion from the source because it can accurately detect any overlaps/gaps and correct it so it will be perfect. There are several discs I have that when I remux or convert, it reports overlaps/gaps and needs correction.
MakeMKV does the same when remuxing to MKV.

EDIT2:
Update: FLAC size= 2.3GB.

You're a MAC...

I don't know if I'm going to take on this project or not.
I'm not familiar with track titles.

I'm backlogged on projects as it is: Harry Potter anthology End Credits, Sweeney Todd editing, Les Miserables editing, etc.

I'm just providing technical insight. :smrt:

I'm sure someone will come along with FLAC conversion in separate tracks.

if are able to post the full score as an individual track in flac, that will be great

i can convert flac to aiff or apple lossless and i can split the tracks myself... but posting the flac will be a tremendous thing :)

i also wouldnt mind having the .wav file.. but 12GB may be too big to upload lol

I'll think about it.
I would never upload WAV.

I would upload the original .thd file so others can do/edit as they please.
But I realize that this world isn't Windows.

But it's a low priority for me right now.
Simple technical examining is too easy and fast so I like doing stuff like this. Technical support, that is.

Original forum support for using eac3to on Doom9 (Caution, they don't support piracy and will ask why you have Oblivion when it's not in retail stores yet! They don't tolerate excuses either!) At least, until the actual BD comes out and you buy it yourself and are able to rip/extract the TrueHD any time.

I could.

But to what host?
Mega has a lot of issues with people internationally.
I think even locally there's issues where servers are concerned.

ZippyShare has been trusty so far.
I would have to split into 200MB parts.
12 parts total.

I have a Netload premium, but it's risky. Nothing works for me when I upload to NL.

MediaFire is out of the question. They've become too crafty.

I don't know about DepositFiles.
The waiting time between files is staggering.

A lot of "free" file hosts have staggering wait times.

So maybe ZippyShare?
Within 48 hours, the full unedited FLAC file.

Oh and you don't need to quote my entire post.
You can delete a lot of it except for the last line.

Done. Now to just upload it.
I hate M83, for the record.
But I like Anthony Gonzalez. :smrt:

Foxtown and I have been collaborating on it. He developed a cue list to make ripping easier.
I took his cue sheet, tweaked some numbers to get more silences adjusted and better transition for some tracks.
He felt 17 tracks is enough.
I like it.
It would be very tasking to go in and split up the longer tracks to better match the retail album.

All tracks have tags filled out, using MP3Tag.
I just put AG&JT in all fields.
You guys can throw M83 around where ever you like when you download it.
Put in a cover in each FLAC as well.

And a small text file detailing the process better.

Will upload to ZippyShare.
ZS works better if you use JDownloader (http://anonym.to/?http://jdownloader.org/download/index) or JDownloader 2 BETA (http://anonym.to/?http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=37365).

Do with it as you please. Edit it, mix it, downsample, what have you...
Even put it on an external HDD and play it on your BD player that supports FLAC files with 5.1/96kHz plugged into your surround sound receiver!

Enjoy. :)
Remember, don't bomb the links by posting everywhere you can.

EDIT: Tracks 2 and 3 cut off early.
Will fix and upload fix for tracks 2 and 3.

EDIT2: Tracks 2, 3 no long cut off. Final track had 15 seconds of silence (now trimmed).

FIXED: You must download this in addition to the previous 12 parts.
It's easier for me to upload 2 parts rather than 12 again. :p
Fixed Part 1 of 2 (http://anonym.to/?http://www4.zippyshare.com/v/60170733/file.html)

Also note a typo in the text file for Info.

This process is lossless-to-lossless so quality was degraded.

Thanks for the shares!

Back from vacation (which was very nice, thank you :) ) and offering you not one, but TWO isolated scores. Both are by John Morris and both are from Mel Brooks films. The scores are High Anxiety and Young Frankenstein.

The procedure this time is a bit different if you want these:

1. YOU send ME a PM asking for the links
2. Click "Like"
3. Post a "Thanks" (feel free to add any other comment as well).

The reason for this is that i have grown tired of posting and having no idea how many that really are interested in my posts. Another reason is that your posts helps to bump this thread and make it more visible for others.

Not that hard, huh? :)

The center channel seems to have clean cue endings, so splitting up the tracks into individual cues might be possible. It also seems to be incomplete (Where is 'Losing Control' or 'Earth 2077'?). I would try it myself, but I can't seem to extract more than 25s from the TrueHD file and I couldn't find a good torrent/Share-Online version of the untouched bluray.

Losing Control = 2nd part of track 11; the first part is Return to Empire State

Earth 2077 is not in the movie at all!

Ok, i guess most of you have already downloaded this from here at ffshrine, but here's my take on it. The quality? Lossless flac. 96 kHz? Nope. Totally useless since there was no audio information above 23 kHz in any of the channels - therefor the reduction to 48 kHz. 16 bit? Well, to make it compatible for most users...

Also, i've split it the same way as the official Deluxe release. And just for the fun of it... i'm working on a surround version of this one.

EDIT: Speaking of versions, check out Antovolk's Oblivion thread here:

I have no problems listening to this on my HPTC connected to my Sony STR-DH800 with 7.1 capablities. Just playing it with WinAmp and cross-fading on, which plays the tracks without gaps. I'm sure there are other ways, but this is what i'm using and it works.

Thank-you for these two scores.

Ok, here's the info:

Ok, i guess most of you have already downloaded this from here at ffshrine, but here's my take on it. The quality? Lossless flac. 96 kHz? Nope. Totally useless since there was no audio information above 23 kHz in any of the channels - therefor the reduction to 48 kHz. 16 bit? Well, to make it compatible for most users...

Also, i've split it the same way as the official Deluxe release. And just for the fun of it... i'm working on a surround version of this one.

If it wasn't from the DVD or Blu-Ray then it wouldn't be an "Isolated Score".

This is a release by one of the no-no companies, so i can't post the links here. The drill is the same as always plus i'm adding what i did two uploads back.

Click "Like" - For me :)
Post a "Thanks" (or whatever) - For the rest of ffshrine's users. Helps bump this post so they get a chance to see it.

And finally:

YOU send ME a PM, asking for the links. Requests in this thread will be ignored.

Also, seeing as some of you asking for the links for Young Frankenstein & High Anxiety never bothered to click "Like" and post anything (and hey, i DID send you the links anyway)... i will have an increasingly harder time to motivate myself to send those people new links.

Thank You.

On L.A. Confidential, are there supposed to be two different tracks called "Bud Is Shot?" I guess I'm blanking, but I don't remember him getting shot twice in the film.

Good catch... i actually didn't see that until now. *ashamed* And i honestly can't say if he's shot twice. I lifted the track names from a cover of something called "complete" and the cover for the recording sessions. Anyone that has seen the film recently and can tell us? I guess i'll start the DVD later today and watch the film for myself... but, as a recap of what i know so far:

Recording Sessions:
08. Shotgun Ed (short) (0:59)
33. Bud is Shot & Execution (2:21)
37. Bud is Shot (alternate) (0:40)

My DVD rip:
11. Jerry Goldsmith - Shotgun Ed (1:00)
12. Jerry Goldsmith - Bud is Shot (0:38)
35. Jerry Goldsmith - Bud is Shot (1:40)
36. Jerry Goldsmith - Execution (0:25)

08. Shotgun Ed (short) from the recording sessions matches up with my 11. Shotgun Ed - no mystery there
33. Bud Is Shot & Execution from the recording sessions matches up with my two tracks 35. Bud is Shot and 36. Execution - no mystery there either

However...

37. Bud is Shot (alternate) (0:40) matches up with my 12. Jerry Goldsmith - Bud is Shot (0:38) - and that's why i named the track like that

But to add to the confusion, the back cover for the so called "complete" version has a track named:

10. Shotgun Ed (1:40)

So my guess would be that my 12. Jerry Goldsmith - Bud is Shot (0:38) perhaps should be called 12. Shotgun Ed Pt II. As i said, i'll watch the DVD later and see if i can figure it out...

Perhaps it would be easiest if that damned Bud would let himself be shot twice :-P i'll get back to you all... sorry for that

I would try it myself, but I can't seem to extract more than 25s from the TrueHD file and I couldn't find a good torrent/Share-Online version of the untouched bluray.

Strange. Have you tried with latest version of eac3to? (v3.27)
There should be no problem extracting.

To format are you trying to extract to? Multiple wavs?
It should handle fine.

If you're using other software, it might not be liking the frequency response beyond 48kHz.

Earth 2077 is not in the movie at all!

Finally watched the movie and loved it.
Though I'm still not familiar with the original retail OST (standard or deluxe), I wouldn't know the difference.
I still only listen to the version we collaborated on.

The extended track lengths really sit well with me when I travel around town on public transit.
The first track, especially.

 I almost want to report to every bus driver my Tech # designation and name.

96 kHz?

:bearclap: Wonderful work!
Definitely need to download your 5.1 version and give it a go.
Would definitely make the Deluxe version worth listening to for contrast/comparison.

Nice to have a "sane" edit of this for absolute practicality.

For me, my BD player should be able to decode 5.1 FLAC for digital output.
If not, then I can use Universal Media Server (UMS) to decode it on the fly for compatibility.
I actually haven't tested 5.1 FLAC on my BDP, but it can certainly handle 2.0 FLAC.

Were they mastered differently in any way?

I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I want to insert "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin and "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum into Calidoran's isolated score for Oblivion. I know that TheEaglesFan005 did something similar with his edit, but he cut the tracks down to the length that they are in the film, using cuts and fades. I just want to insert the full length tracks where they belong. However, when I use the MP3s I already have, they're way too loud. Is there anyone skilled in leveling/equalizing that could match the tracks to Calidoran's isolated score?

But as i don't have any laserdiscs, i can't help you. Sorry :) I'm not sure what it would take to play a laserdisc? Has anyone compared this to the version Calidoran posted a while back (apart from the obvious)? Thanks.

When I was working on it, I did ;) I also had a lossless version of the bootleg, so thanks to yepsa at this point.

The so-called isolated "score" on the DVD was basically an isolated soundtrack. Apart from the score, it also included source cues, licensed songs and stuff like the logo music. The Twilight Time isolated score was much better in that regard, but still had some non-score stuff, that I got rid of. I only kept the tracks, that were made for the film by Shaiman. One cue from "An Affair To Remember" has been re-recorded for the film to replace the original recording, but it wasn't used (and therefore not featured on the isolated score).

My uncle had them. To watch ET, you had to take it out
and flip sides, just like an old lp, halfway through the movie. Yet at the time, 'twas grooovy and all hi-tech like. Only thing cooler was this thing he called an"Atari"....:awsm:

The Twilight Time version was better? In what way? Qualitywise, yes, since it was lossless. But scorewise? It's exactly the same as the DVD release. All score pieces you have listed exist on the DVD release as well. The only difference between your edit and my edit is that i decided to keep the songs since i thought they were such a big part of the film. You removed them.

I'm not sure i care for the tone in your post. To me it sounds like you're degrading my edit by saying 'The so-called isolated "score" on the DVD'. Meaning that just because you bought the Twilight Time BluRay, your version is much better.

Bottom line: There is just as much "score" in both edits. I decided to keep the songs, you didn't. You decided to include two tracks not in the film, i didn't. But to say one version is better than the other? I'm not doing that...

I'm not degrading your edit, I'm degrading the isolated score policy in general. Just presenting a track without SFX & dialogue shouldn't be called that way. In some cases you can even hear volume jumps within the tracks (Starship Troopers), stuff that has nothing to do with the film is included (Tristar logo music in Sleepless) and source cues often fade into score tracks, so a proper extraction of the score is not possible (The Mummy). Twilight Time isolated scores are cleaner in that regard - no volume jumps, no logo music unless it has been composed for the film, no clipping, no noise in silent parts...

I am grateful, that studios have put isolated scores on the DVDs in the past, but they could have done a little work on it before they did.

The problem is that they often couple the music with composer's commentaries and adjust the volume when the composer is talking

I was under the impression that the whole reason for putting out Isolated Scores was because it was a minimal effort option from the point of view of the film company. Minimal effort and cost. Extra kudos. Possibly extra sales.

FunnyML, All those elements ARE a part of the movie's score. An isolated score simply means the music, as heard in the film, isolated as a special feature. Songs, source cues, logos and film edits of the score are all legitimate elements of that. And, why they can be so frustrating. That is why the work of yourself and Calidoran is so appreciated. If all you had to do was rent the movie, pop into the pc and rip the ISO, and **presto** a great listening experience, then we would all do it. Most folks will never understand the work that goes into making these presentable as albums, much less what the term actually means.

It is also why an ISO is NOT the end all, be all for a score. It will only contain the music as is heard on film. That includes editing bits and looping/tracking etc. It does not include the score as written and recorded, as I know you are aware. To get a "complete" score, one may have to combine elements of a recording sessions, ost, and the iso. Not many realize the work you guys put into all of this.

To me, 'score' only refers to the music, that has been written for the film.

Triceratops on the left, Torosaurus on the right. Its from the idea that Torosaurus was named and described first using Triceratops material, rendering the latter invalid as a name. The idea is that Triceratops is actually an immature or even female Torosaurus, but I'm not sure about that. More data needs to be collected and analyzed. I just wanted to show the comparisons of the two. Brachiosaurus was successfully dropped as a scientific name as well. There are two brachiosaurs, one from the US and one from Africa. The one from Africa is now knows as Brachiosaurus while the familiar one from the US is known as Giraffatitan. Someone even tried to take T-rex away, saying that the name Dynamosaurus should be applied to the animal. sigh. Paleontology is a tricky science. :) sorry, nerding is done for now. :)

As moviemusicsi said: That is not an isolated score. Read the first post for the definition of what an isolated score is an isn't

To clarify for those wondering:

An isolated score is simply the music as a separate audio track on the DVD/BluRay. Sometimes there is only music, sometimes it has the composer's commentary as well and if you're lucky, those commentaries do not mix with the music. There might also be significant drops in music volume due to composer's commentaries and those isolated scores takes a lot more work before they're done.
Rips of the front or rear or any channels with sfx and/or speech are NOT isolated scores but "simply" something where someone has tried isolating the music from the speech and SFX.
This thread will not have any such rips. It will only be about isolated scores.

Any chance on the isolated score from Leon - the professional? The German blu-ray has it I think

Sorry, don't have that one...

Thanks for all comments and requests. I will upload all of them eventually even if it might take some time. Hopefully this thread will give me the boost i need to finish at least some of the other 20 or so isolated scores i have besides the list in the first post. Anyway... tried uploading another one but it turned out that peeje never received the entire file so i had to redo it. And here it is. I've downloaded it and unpacked it so everything should work, at least for now.

As moviemusicsi said: That is not an isolated score. Read the first post for the definition of what an isolated score is an isn't

... you should read the first post as well

Actually, I am well aware of what an isolated score is and Beauty and the Beast (1991) does have one and I am searching for it. I am aware that there is a more popular score posting with sound effects and stuff playing with the music BUT the true isolated score was posted about a year ago on youtube by a user named EmpireSB. There was only Alan Menken's score. Youtube has since banned the user and deleted the videos which made me really sad. If anyone can help me find it again I would greatly appreciate it!

Do you know any more information? Such as if it was it a release from North America, South America, the European countries, Africa, Australia, etc?

A google search doesn't yield any hard evidence that such a DVD/BD pressing ever existed.

Google:

"Beauty and the Beast" (1991) "isolated score"

I followed some links but it just listed some missing features in some pressings, none of which were an isolated score.
I have no idea what this forum has to offer on this opinion, but mind you, this forum is also very new to the terminology of "sessions", "isolated score", etc.
Not saying you don't know, just questioning the validity of other people (particularly, especially, exclusively, undoubtedly: the youtuber).

Whatever you saw on youtube may have just been an edit from some instrumentals and whatnot.
There have been several instrumental works posted here. I don't know all the details, but you should check out the B&TB threads (most recently created) and inquire on the nature of all available music. Surely, there must be some instrumental or some sort that the youtuber had used in combination of everything to create a fake "isolated score".

Another possibility is the misconception of the Youtuber's knowledge on what an "isolated score" really is.

I haven't checked any of the links on the first page, except for soundtrack.net, and it didn't show any pressing for B&TB having an isolated score.

I think you've been tricked into thinking there is one available by the youtuber.
It simply does not seem to exist anywhere in the market.

Youtube is not a viable source.
At most, it was a recording session, promo, or fancy DVD-edit.

There are a couple here would have the most knowledge on Disney/Musical information.

I know those videos and I think they have been posted here. Those were great DVD-rips, but nothing more. However, the bluray features a game which had isolated parts from the songs in the menu, that's all I have seen so far from the isolated front.

Not much more to add to the Beauty & The Beast discussion, i'm afraid. I have never seen a BluRay/DVD that had this as an isolated score and i just spent 20 minutes checking all sources i have available, but no isolated. Sorry :)

Well, here it is, finally. The isolated BluRay score for X-Men First Class. What bugged me about this isolated score was that it doesn't start until 2 minutes 7 seconds into the film, when clearly there is music starting already at 48 seconds. I played the entire film listening only to the isolated score just to check if it was out of phase or something, but nope... For some reason they didn't include that first piece of music. I had to rip the original audio track and use the front channels in order to get it and that's why track 2 - Poland, 1944 has some SFX. Usually i don't like that, but for the sake of completion on this one i chose to include it. However, i also included the orginal (from the isolated track) 2 - Poland, 1944 as an alternate track 44. Those of you that absolutely can't stand SFX, just remove track 2 and replace it with track 44.

This one is interesting... I've seen my rip floating around here and there (and i mean my rip, i've downloaded and compared) it even has the track names as i named them (not taking credit for that). What someone has done though is removed my rip of the first track and used the music from one of the previous X-Men films that it was tracked from. I guess it's nice and SFX free, but although you can hear the similarities between the two tracks, it's NOT the same music. Feel free to compare :)

Man, I thought JC was going to continue with Isolated Scores for his movies.

Prince of Darkness was released but with just a commentary! No Iso!
In The Mouth Of Madness is out but with just a commentary!! NO ISO!!! :(

That's a real bummer. I rather enjoy the scores for those two and was really looking forward to watching ITMOM with the iso.

I wonder why the sudden change? Perhaps the whole "music union" fees and dues came into affect for those films?

You haven't found it? There is no relase of a DVD or BluRay with an isolated score. Once more, check the first post i made in this thread on what an isolated score REALLY is ;)
