Hi,
I want to know ?

The Best volume 1 2 3 4 of DBZ they are the japanese ost or usa ost ?
Because the usa ost it's not the original soundtrack from the series, you know ?

My opinion :
I'm absolutly not interrested by the usa ost and there is a lot like me, sorry ...

Yes it is the USA OST Soundtracks, I know there is a handful of people that want the Japanese version. I looked around for it and had no luck (or didnt try hard enough). I myself never got into the Japanese version of DBZ... since I hated reading subtitles and missing all the action. I just stuck with the US Version. More or less I am sure there will be people that wanted the USA OST as well.

SuperSaiyaJinX
12-02-2009, 09:25 AM
you know what they say original is the only way to go same applies to anime if you past (6th) grade you shouldn't have a problem reading subtitles i mean you can't have it both way's not understanding another language is one thing not understanding your own written language is sadly another you see i'm from america and i watched the entire show of dbz (english) multiple times and even the horrible ocean dub i was always fascinated watching it in it's naitive language since it seemed so foreign which is very appealing to me but this was before (6th) grade and i wasn't the brightest kid around but now twenty (and can read past the american 6th grade standerd thank god) i can now read fast enough and not miss the action and still injoy it as if i'm watching it in english you know dragonball/z is one of my most favorite anime but not the first that would have to be either the guyver (which i like just as much) or the Sentai TV series Bioman (bio kids) hell i thought they were better than power rangers at the time even though they were downgraded versions of them wearing cheap costumes that you could buy at (k mart) or (walmart) that had extreamly cheap special effects that would even make power rangers look like a (Michael Bay) blockbuster but i liked it none the less. What make's dragonball/z original soundtrack different is that it sounds very oriental and i like that about anime's, now i also like dbz's american soundtrack but it dosen't feel unique it's as if they try'ed to make it sound like mortal kombat (i love mortal kombat) but that's what we have mortal kombat for and don't get me started on dragonball evolution what ever they made is not even close to dragonball nor is the goku in it i mean goku is not sopposed to look like he's getting a (10) minute perm and a man that barly has meat on him and he was not supposed to be age eighteen (he was 15) going to school looking like an ordinary college kid with a (2009) hair do (that's why micheal bay made transformer) he's supposed to be japan's interpretation of superman mixed with conan the barbarian (but it's main influence is journey to the west) and it is stated that the saiyajins are barbarians from another world so hence me saying they were influenced from both superman and conan with a mixture of journey from the west and what i don't get is if i can understand the story why can't the film makers (Problably for the kids as the story is to mature and won't appeal as much to wetsern audience) to end a long story short they just should of left it alone or kept it original they would of received alot less backlash. (if it aint broken don't fix it).

I don't see the problem with anyone making a request for their first post, especially when it's a new member and even if they're not new, it doesn't really matter. I also don't think they meant they have every anime ost in lossless, why would they request Gundam Z if that was the case? I think they meant that they'll post lossless uploads of any anime ost they have.

Dude its not my rars that have problems but mediafire that caused the problem. I uploaded the rar for FMA brotherhood exactly as I downloaded it from the torrent without re-packaging it at all. I didn't check it but losslessone usually is quite good at releasing proper rars. I will just have to go back to using rapidshare and tell the whiners to stop whining because there are far too many problems with mediafire shares lately. Mediafire should give me some sort of error if, when uploading, a few files inside the rar become corrupt. If they tell me my upload is complete I have no reason to believe otherwise.

solaris8x86
12-11-2009, 06:25 PM
I deeply understand your difficulty. May I propose you to recompress your target files with WinRAR's extensive function called "Recovery Record % Percent". This function resides in the "Advanced" tab of the "Add Archive" button. If you would put a "5 %" (rr5%) in the value box will normally enough for people to decompress your RAR archive successfully even if they encountered an unexpected checksum corruption during your upload. This method simply eliminates this problem straightforwardly. But you should name your RAR archives with suffix "rr5%" during distributions so that people knowing this file is embedded 5 percents of RAR Data Recovery Records (function as journal log). Forgive my english, I am not a native speaking.

I don't know that a recovery record is required but perhaps I will try that sometime in the future. For now I'm going to 7zip and back to rapidshare. I know its annoying as a downloader to deal with the wait times and sometimes massive traffic overloads but at least the downloads aren't going to have corrupt files.

solaris8x86
12-11-2009, 06:54 PM
Thanks for willing to pickup new technology. But actually it is not new. Many forum users have been using rr% feature in RAR to distribute [EAC] lossless CD image. That's why sometimes you might notice that some RAR files you downloaded might contain "rr5%" in their filenames. That's what used for (in case checksum error for downloaders).
We look forward to your next great uploads.

See the thing is this corruption problem is only something I've encountered in the last month after switching to mediafire. I haven't had any problems with corrupted files for the long years before that with other hosts. Thus why I am not going to use mediafire anymore. Anyway, starting upload now of zettai shounen. It is one of my favorite relaxing Anime soundtracks and worth listening to! Estimated upload time, 1.5-2 hours.

I know there can be troubles with rapidshare saying "there are no free slots". Just retry every 2 minutes until you get through. It may be a little annoying but mediafire kept corrupting my uploads so rapidshare is the best I can do right now.

Holly crap you guys been busy. Sorry for the lack of updates, downed covers and such. Busy with work. Man I hate retail.

PS - Noting previous arguments on the forum about RS & MU, As it stands please Uploaders: Have an account. It doesn't matter what file hosting site you use but make sure the file lasts. One thing I hate about DL'n files myself is that files expires and its lost forever. What's worst are those files that last only like 10 DLs & etc.

Sirusjr

Agreed, a free rapidshare collector's account usually keeps the links alive for a while. The 10 dl limit is only for free uploads.

There's no such thing as "95 % LOSSLESS", either it's lossless or it is'nt. If it's not lossless it's lossy and has nothing to do here.

Acutally, if you really want to be picky about it, there sort of is. You can use lossless encoding and still have the file come out as different from the CD if you use a program that doesn't do secure rips (such as WMP, iTunes, and similar apps). That's why people over at HydrogenAudio are so obsessive about EAC, rubyripper, apps built on cdparanoia, etc., and argue over which one produces the best rips: because if there's a difference between the CD and the rip, then there's no point in ripping lossless in the first place.

Speaking of which, not to be too OCD about it, but did these Apple Lossless rips come from iTunes, or were they converted from secure rips?

I know this.

But there's a big difference between a bad rip, just containing some minor and unhearable glitches, but whithout any encoding, and what has apparently been posted: a transcode, which means it has been encoded using some kind of compression technique: mp3, ogg... then it has been converted to fake lossless. Lossy compression is destructive, it actually removes a lot of data from the original material using various psychoacoustic algorithms - this is not comparable to microscopic errors happening during a rip.

I agree, not only is destructive, also kills the music itself, all the sound goes nowhere and you are just lisening NOISE.

Sorry but I absolutely disagree with this. I'm not really into lossless myself, and one of the reasons is this:

Mp3 (as an example, but there are many other compression techniques) is actually extremely good into extracting the "good", i.e. listenable, data from an audio material. Mp3 compression is an old (relatively of course) and very powerful technology, made by talented ingeniors. Many blind tests have been made using, for instance, the best Mp3 codec: Lame, in 320k and V0, and they show that a large majority of people actually can't tell the difference with lossless. Many people *believe* they can hear a difference, but I'd be curious to see their results in a true blind test... When you say that Mp3 is just "noise", you're downright participating to this big ILLUSION that mp3 is crap and lossless is the only thing worthy.

When I said that it's destructive, I mean it removes what can't be heard by a human ear, but of course it leaves intact the hearable stuff. Of course some older codecs were not very good and produced mediocre rips, but the latest versions of lame are almost flawless into compressing accurately.

If you want another enlighted opinion, you should see this:

Look Guys we're not having this argument in this thread I posted the Lossless transcode of Sign by Flow. Its a Lossless file yes its just not "The"
legitimite version of what would traditionally be posted in this thread. I thought that a lossless version of Sign would have been a good year end surprise even if it were a transcode because of the people who couldn't wait until January when the single is released.

WHAT? are you a teenager with an ipod nano or something?.. I gonna pretend you didn't say that mp3 is a good codec. I don't know if you know "something" about music, but is the same old war CD vs Vinyl ...music is NOT digital (1,0's)...music is sound waves...it takes a lot of " 1,0's " to record all the true music comming out of an instrument...why do you think exist music formats like SACD or DVD-A ....Dolby TRUHD, DTS-MA...because lossy is that, LOSSY. Going down of CD quality is compress those "1,0's" even more. A good comparision between those formats KILLS any sound of a CD...i'll not mention the sound of mp3...if you have the oportunity to do some comparasion mp3 vs SACD...you'll find yourself you've been lisening NOISE all your life. Thats why this treath is all about LOSSLESS not shitty mp3....because all we post here knows that.

Well, I've posted stuff here, and I don't agree with you at all. It seems like the medium that the music is recorded on is more important to you than the music itself. You're missing the forest for the trees, son.

Look dude, I listen to music with fairly decent headphones and certainly not through an Ipod and often I have difficult discerning between a lossless and a lossy. Sure lossless sounds good and if I have it available I will listen but HQ mp3 also sounds very good and at least close to as good as lossless. I support this thread and other lossless threads partially as a backup and partially because I know someday I will have such expensive headphones that I will be able to hear the difference more clearly although if I do that I may just find that I can no longer listen to and enjoy MP3s when that is all I can find of the music. In that case it would be a real shame.

Oh boy, this is worse than I believed...

Listen, given a) the tone you're using and b) the aberrations you're claiming ("you've been lisening NOISE", "shitty mp3", etc.), I won't loose my time trying to convince someone who can't even use HIS EARS to listen to music in order to determine its audio quality. Again, I'm pretty sure that whatever your arrogant posture is, you'll be powerless to tell if a rip is lame V0 or lossless, as 95% of the population is.

Moreover you're introducing an analog / digital argument which is pointless in this debate. The point is, once the audio data is digitally stored in a cd, what mp3 compression does to keep only what's necessary, only what can be heard by a human hear. If you haven't understood this point (which seems to be the case), then you don't understand anything to the lossless / lossy debate.

I gonna pretend you didn't say that mp3 is a good codec.

Mp3 is NOT a codec, it's a compression technique, the codecs themselves are Lame, FHG, Blade, etc. And Lame is not only a good codec, it's a fantastic codec. ;) And if you knew ANYTHING about sound and audio compression, you'd know why.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm out to speak to more polite and articulate people elsewhere.

That's exactly my point, i'm not defending one or other media...but is the media the way music is stored, and like you...when you have the oportunity to lisen music with some quality speakers, headphones. you'll find that hear mp3's (not matter if it is HQ mp3's) is not the way for lisen music ---any kind of music...not media...lossy formats lose his quality going up...that's why quality always goes up, not down...i'm not trying to offend anybody, is reality.

There is difference between MP3's and Lossless Format, if you don't know that ? You are deaf !!!

Well, I know that some lossless extremists consider the hundreds of millions of people on earth (and 95% of people in this board) listening to mp3 like absolute dumbasses with crap in their ears, but these same people mostly can't tell the difference between Lame V0 and lossless unless they make a spectrum analysis! In other words they're forced to SEE the difference because they can't HEAR it! Maybe, in this case the problem is in their HEAD, in what they BELIEVE about an audio source, more than in mp3 itself...

I'll say it one last time: even audio professionals with advanced equipment and trained ear mostly can't tell the difference between Lame V0 or 320kbps and lossless, because Lame is an amazing piece of technology made by great ingeniors since years.

And I expected a more clever and articulate answer than "You are deaf !!!", talk about caricature... And if you can't recognize the amazing audio quality of Lame's latest versions, I'm sorry to tell you that you're the one who's deaf (or maybe just ignorant, as you haven't tried it).

So long, people...

I just want to check; has anyone in this thread tried the Neon Genesis Evangelion and Big O soundtrack torrents I posted a few pages ago? If so, are they seeding okay? The reason I'm asking this is because Demonoid.com says that they have no seeds, even though my client says that both torrents have a growing share ratio; and I can't ask other Demonoid users what's going on because the forums there aren't up and running yet. So I just want to ask to see if everything's running smoothly with them.

Plus, it's usually pretty obvious seeing as lossy kills the ebb and flow of albums, especially those whose tracks literally flow into one another.

I said that I won't post here again, but this one requires an answer.

It's hard to be less specific than what you say. What mp3 quality have you compared lossless with? 128k, 192k, 320k, vbr? And encoded with which codec: Lame, FHG, etc. ? There's a world of difference between these various mp3 qualities. Indeed even a deaf can tell the difference between a 128k rip made with an old codec and lossless. But as I said several times here before, my reference for doing the comparison is LAME 3.98 V0 or 320k. With this one you can't go wrong, the sound quality is astonishing.

Yeah, I listened to a 32kb/11kHz Xing-encoded mp3 and compared it to the CD, and I REALLY heard the difference, too! ;)

Plus, it's usually pretty obvious seeing as lossy kills the ebb and flow of albums, especially those whose tracks literally flow into one another.

Can you explain what you mean by this statement?

your over reacting. megaupload doesnt like this site for anti piracy reasons. this forum has no security or rules to protect links ie. no use of code tags. using other hosts like RS or mediafire or hotfile is perfectly fine. there's no conspiracy just on your posts solely.
This is why I use rapidshare. It may be irritating sometimes for people but the links last a long time and don't get deleted. I really would love for everything to be on megaupload if they didn't get deleted so fast.

There exist distributor services like multiupload, sharebee, massmirror, uploadjockey and getmirror. You upload a file once and they spread it to several file hosters.

If your sound equipment is good then you can tell the difference between a MP3 and a FLAC.

I do admit that LAME is actually very good, but it still does cut away the very low frequencies and the very high frequencies which is not the best thing in the world.

I'm using a DAC, a hybird tube amp, and for my headphones it is the Grado 225i which cost $200. The whole set up cost me less than $500 and it is a major upgrade from using the laptop's sound card.

With this set up it is not too hard to tell if I'm using a MP3 file or FLAC.

But if you are still using cheap speakers that is hooked up to the headphone jack of your computer (or you are plugging in cheap headphones into the headphone jack) then MP3 and FLAC will sound the same.

Then again if you are using this set up for the love of god please upgrade.

Dude, you have to realize that not everybody can afford to possess such equipment. Mine for instance is a pair of HQ speakers with an additional bass box. Not the same level of your stuff, but way better than your average PC speakers. The sound is actually very good, and Lame and lossless sound very similar, almost not distinguishable, except for the bass, occasionally.

The point is of course YES, there IS a difference between Lame and lossless, and YES with the best audio equipment in the world you'll be able to hear it. You can't have 1/4 of the size without having a slight loss of fidelity, Lame isn't magic. But for most people, equipped with good, satisfactory quality speakers / headphones, the hearable difference will be nonexistent.

Now to be clear, I have nothing against ultra-exigent audiophiles and lossless fans, even though it looks like it a bit. ;) No, I perfectly respect your choices, but this feud started when that guy stated that mp3 is "JUST NOISE", this kind of enormity kinda pissed me off and I just wanted to DEFEND mp3 against unjust and false accusations. You don't have to HATE lossy in order to LOVE lossless. Each has its qualities and flaws, and the purpose of my posts was just to clearly establish some truthes in this debate.

Peace, mates. ;)

Is it unlistenable, though? Some people try to act like they'd rather gouge out their ears with knives than listen to even a well-encoded mp3 file. Is the sound that horrible to you? I admit not investing much in any sound system I own, so for me lossless files are basically only for digital archival of things that are exceptionally good or rare.

Thanks for responding sensibly rather than with the typical "DUUURRRR MP3 SUXX UR A D3AF R3TARD IF U LIK IT DUUURRR" comment.

I have my speakers connected to my computer through coaxial from my sound card and any headphones go through the headphone output on the receiver. I still don't find the difference to be so serious that I absolutely demand lossless for everything. I also don't have the money for the proper upgrade yet, which is why I am trying to grab all the lossless I can for that time. Right now the best output I have is my Sleek Audio SA6 canalphones.

Quite relevant.

I've said this before I'll say it again: with a V0 rip, you have 95-98% of the quality a FLAC rip, for about 30-40% of its size. Given this fact, it's up to everyone to decide what to choose depending on his priorities.

Most of my music collection is in LAME and it is very, very good. If you really want to go high end you have to spend thousands on equipment.

But for less than $500 I got a set up that is very amazing. MP3 tech got so much better over the years.

For my case I can live with LAME, but if there is a lossless version I would take that. I don't kill myself for not having a lossless version of it. ;)

Of course it is listenable. Just look at my response above.

What's your sound card/receiver?

If going the speaker route I would recommend the Audioengine A5 for $350.

I might talk about my equipment later just so you guys can have a better idea what the hell that I'm using. :P

Edit: Or maybe not or else it would get too much off topic. If you are still interested please PM me!

Can you explain what you mean by this statement?

Basically, music has a certain fluidity to it, yeah? Well, try listening to an album of music condensed to .mp3 format where the tracks literally flow together - the eponymous Led Zeppelin, for example, or most Floyd albums - and the sudden *click* of lost sound between tracks can be a bit jolting.

Btw: Hahaha, wow, sorry. Just meant to make a small comment and move on...that being said, I have some fairly old speakers, and my ears have taken a beating over the years - not too many - from listening to some loud music, but with headphones on or said speakers turned up, I can tell a source is lossy. I'm not imagining that I can hear the difference - I can. And I'm not a huge fan of it...

Which is a pain in the backside, to say the least, especially when you try to find the entire music catalogue found on your hard-drive in lossless. :p

If anyone is getting sick of things like Megaupload links being deleted or having problems with other hosting sites, might I recommend Shareyourfiles.net (http://www.shareyourfiles.net)? A lot of people in the lossless video game soundtrack thread have started using it and it seems to work pretty well.

Not that nonsense about cheap vs. expensive equipment and good vs. bad hearing ability. Let me give you a hint. You can probably hear compression artefacts if you or your equipment does differ from the "standard", more or less. Try reading up on "Psychoacoustic Model".

Gapless playback for lossy/lossless audio compression is available since years, you might wanna do some research.

Can we stop this OT and spreading wrong myths about audio compression please? If you are really interested in audio compression you can read and discuss things in detail at hydrogenaudio.

Again, you're right; this is all off-topic, but still a decent discussion. I'll try to post something more on-topic before I leave on vacation. How about the Riding Bean soundtrack? I've always liked that one.

Not that nonsense about cheap vs. expensive equipment and good vs. bad hearing ability.

Oh. Because it has absolutely no influence? Because you can hear the same with a professional equipment an some generic PC speakers from 2002? Because there's no individual difference between people in aural sensitivity and listening experience? Please develop.

You can probably hear compression artefacts if you or your equipment does differ from the "standard", more or less.

Well, the objective of lossy compression technology is to diminish the quantity of perceptible artefacts as much as possible. The last version of Lame is pretty good at that.

Edit: meh, it's not really the place for this debate, and I don't have enough time for this anyway. It was fun though.

Cheers and happy holidays to everyone here. :)
