Its certainly my personal opinion, but in my opinion self-respecting the work the person will not use piracy music.every solid festival of films or advertising demands the license on all.programm maintenance on which ето it was mounted, on music which use.on all!!!!!!! And music which you write, it is limited. That is it epic, also approaches only for gotic battles, and not everywhere approach.Sorry for English. Excuse for troubling.

I understand the hardship being experienced by those of you within the "trailer" music industry and can sympathize with some of you. However, I think the whole business of "copyrighting" music has gotten out of control. Yes people should be able to protect their "intellectual property" rights to some degree but nowadays things have gone way too far. Nobody "invented" the key of C minor! You shouldn't be able to copyright music because there exists a finite number of musical notes and the order you can play them in. What you play today has probably already been played ten billion times eons ago. Something new, a better system, has to be put in place for copyrights on music.

I have had the same thoughts for a while, copterdude, however what would you suggest? Being a programmer I face the same issues with the software I develop, and I think I have settled on open source and/or freeware so as not to take away anyone's liberties, but since these people have it as their main source of income it is understandable that they should take this stance... capitalism was not ready for the wonders of digital reproduction.

Well said, the digital era has definitely taken its toll on products that rely heavily on interllectual property rights. They must change their revenue model to reflect these changes or suffer the consequences because no matter how many forums they police, they will NEVER EVER EVER NEVER and one more EVER stop the transfer of their songs over the internet. It is here to stay. Yes, I do sympathize with them and hope they win the battle ("battle" in the sense that they can make really good money off their music), however unlikely that seems.

Funny, but from where I'm sitting Vanton's been exceedingly polite, even surprisingly friendly, given the situation that people are basically telling him to sod off for trying to protect his livelihood. The only ones I'd classify as dicks are all the greedy little piggies shrieking "GIMME GIMME GIMME MORE MORE MORE" and generally acting as if downloading the product of his and Thomas's labor for free is some sort of God-given right with which no man dare interfere.

I'll admit, I'm guilty of downloading damn near everything that's been posted in this thread, and I'm further guilty of posting a fair-sized chunk of it at Mikeyai's server, but I have never done it with the attitude that I or any of us are in any way entitled to this stuff. For example, if I find an album online, it's just a pleasant surprise and a spot of luck, like finding a stack of comics abandoned on the bus. If I don't, I shrug and move on because it isn't something I should be counting on anymore than I should expect to find $30 worth of comics on the seat next to me at the end of every bus ride, and I sure as hell wouldn't demand them from the driver and other passengers. I mean, I honestly don't care if I never hear Nemesis or X-Ray Dog Volumes 29-33, and that's partly because I'm sick to death of all the spastic whiners posting on and on about how badly they need it, does anyone have it, can anyone post it, please put the link back up, and generally behiving like howler monkeys going through crack withdrawal. For feck's sake, people, get some goddamned perspective already.

My only disagreement is the physical CD versus digital - to me they are the same just wearing a different coat. Technology has moved on and if you think about it - the material still is 1's and zero's but sit physically on something - if I unscrew the back of my laptop I see a hard disc - if I open a CD case I see a CD.

The problem we have is a simple one. We are not in the business of selling a physical item - its the added value that our music gives to trailers and commercials. Its been proven that we put bums on seats or get people to go and buy the DVD - To maintain this we have to discourage the use of cues as it pisses the Movie distributors off if they see or hear music that they use for a major campaign - I'd be pissed if I spent a lot of money in acquiring rights for something and then see it all over the place.

We have said that we enjoy seeing what you guys do with the Globus material - Globus was developed and released to expand people's enjoyment of larger than life music - yes its not totally what you guys want but can you seriously see anyone spending nearly a million dollars to sell a thousand CD's? - I say a thousand because the rest of you will get it "for free".

So we get about 3 dollars for every album we sell - we have to pay the composers, producers, artists and ourselves out of that, PLUS recoup the recording costs AND the marketing costs AND the promo video costs AND (for us) the LIVE SHOW costs (I admit it was me who came up with that mad idea)

You do the math - I'm scared to!

So if you think about it, we have used the money from the trailers to try and give you and the general public something to enjoy - I actually can't see us getting rich off it but we are passionate about our music and are prepared to risk our children's inheritance to give people what we believe they will want to listen too.

Then you guys come along - don't say thanks - don't even contribute to it, just nick it as a god given right.

How have you guys bought your computers, your clothes, your food?? By working for someone who sells a product! We would just like the opportunity to do the same.

As for the digital vs. physical issue, I do understand that it's still unethical, but in my gut it feels like a difference of degree rather than kind. While I know on an intellectual level that shoplifting a physical CD is at its core no different than simply making an unauthorized copy of a copy of copy, etc., it still feels like, to quote actor/comedian Larry Miller, "It's the difference between shooting a bullet and just throwing it." A sin it may be, but it feels like the sort of sin where the Devil would roll his eyes and tell you not to worry about it because the paperwork to get you enrolled in Hell is more time and effort for him than whatever punishment your crime merits. And I also know that I'm rationalizing and very probably wrong on all counts from a legal perspective.

Still, if it helps any, I don't use it to make movies and I haven't given it to anyone who plans to use it to make movies. My brother's a comic book artist, and I burned him a disc of Themes for Orchestra and Choir 1 for him to play while working, as it gets him pumped up to visualize and draw action sequences (he says it's the first thing he's listened to in years where he enjoys every single track on the disc). Also, I intend to use trailer music (not just Immediate Music, but any of the stuff I've downloaded) as mood enhancers in the Dark*Matter (modern horror and conspiracy) and Star*Drive (26th Century space adventure) D20 Modern role-playing game campaigns I'm getting set to run this year; keeping them on the GameMaster's laptop to play on cue for the appropriate spooky, epic, or action moments. That's all. No spreading it across YouTube or MySpace as score for a badly edited collection of Battlestar Galactica clips or what have you. I'd like to think that such private usage isn't damaging to your company's prestige or that of its clients, but then again see what I said above about rationalizing and being wrong.

Get over yourself, what's pathetic is little whiners like you who want to ruin everyone's fun. This is not some evil drug dealing ring, just normal people listening to good music, because, humans, were like… programmed to think certain wavelengths sound good and pleasurable. Not our fault, but until they learn a way around this, there will always be people like us.

I appreciate you writers taking interest in this issue. Many writers, bands nowadays care little about this issue since the RIAA (in America for instance) deals with the issue of music sharing mostly. Although to fix all this, I believe you should make your music public and available to all consumers you could even charge a big prize. Your music might lose prestige in doing this but it satisfies the ever growing trailer music market. The market always wins. Failure to do this, will eventually make a lot more sites like this one right here and therefore your problem will only get bigger. Internet is big nowadays and with that in mind do you honestly think you will be able to stop every site, ftp server even every private network in the world? Not saying this issue is like the typical US vs Drugs scenario (at least not now I would hope) and yet the drug, black-market in the US still exists today. A simple solution will be drug legalization and analogously in this case it would be to make publicly available your music.

Closing the thread maybe a bit extreme, but at least sticky vanton's and tjb's respective posts so that its clearly visible to all of those who have obviously not been keeping up with it why it is no longer okay to post IM and 2SfH music. They both have politely asked that there work stopped being shared and I've seen nothing but a blatant disregard for there wishes. How about a little respect for those who produce the music that we love so much?

Although to fix all this, I believe you should make your music public and available to all consumers you could even charge a big prize. Your music might lose prestige in doing this but it satisfies the ever growing trailer music market. The market always wins.

It would be a good step in the right direction. I would buy IM if it was available to the public. It is admirable some companies try to release to the general public to please the small group of fans that they have. They have clearly taken notice of our posts here and our comment, however minor they are in the scope of all this, are still heard. Also don't forget 2sfH mentioned an general release with the songs unchanged. In all, I think that's very good news. Once it's released it will still be downloaded on a massive scale, I don't assume it will prevent illegal downloading of their music. But the music will get more known to everyone that's wants to buy it in the first place. It's clearly we're standing at the doorstep of an evolution, it will either become generally acceptable to the market OR disappear completely in illegal downloading. I hope it will be the first.

Nope, Vienna is 2CD's and both CD's contain a lot of tracks (about 40 each). But most tracks are transition effects and last for only 15 seconds. There aren't that much actual songs on the album. But those for versions I mentioned are all on Vienna though...

I found now the C.F. Remix Album by X-Ray Dog, it includes 30 tracks. The Dark Empire (Remix) is on it, and many more special mixes. I think it`s a fanmade Album like Dog in Heaven, but i don`t know exactly.

Does anybody know the name of the track in the Nemesis Epic I Demo from the Two Steps from Hell website that runs in the first one and a half minute? Is that 1:30 the whole track? I had just discovered this forum today; and was very impressed with the files amassed here. I've casually visited a few production music forums in the past, but I've never seen a collection quite like this one, all in one place. As such, I was wondering if anyone could help me find a few cues I've been searching years for:

The first one is a cue from the 2004 Thunderbirds Trailer, and credit is listed on soundtrack.net as being "Evil Pitch Bender" from RipTide Music; this particular cue doesn't seem to be in the RT collection I found on this thread, and I was wondering if anyone knew of the whereabouts of this elusive cue.

The second cue I first heard in a trailer for Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as seen here:

The cue I'm looking for plays towards the end of the clip, right after Johnny Depp says "Eew" following the scene with Augustus Gloop in it. Now, from prior research that I've done, I was led to believe that this particular cue is actually a track from James Newton Howard's 2003 score for "Peter Pan". The only problem is, that track was cut from the retail album, and was only released on a special version of the soundtrack which was given out at the film's premiere. Though it might just be a pipe dream; I was hoping someone might have it =D.

I do specifically by invite only -- the people who have shown me that they are worthy (ones who upload new stuff and don't just leech off of the others and don't bombard anyone in the forum for downloads. It's probably a custom job from a trailer company based off of Requiem for a Dream, much like Fatal Fantasy from Music Junkies is. I've heard talk that Pfiefer Broz did the custom TV spot for Hitman, whether or not that's true, I have no idea.

I was at the 2002 winter olympics in Utah and I heard a beautiful piece played over stadium speakers to a montage of athletic performances. it sounded like a clone of lisa gerrard's piece from Gladiator soundtrack. never been able to track down any sort of clue

Any info on this matter will be a great help.

I don't mind sharing trailer music but it must be used for private listening only IMO. If you want to use such music for film projects you should license the songs officially.

While I'm very sure private listeners as most people on these board don't do any harm at all to these companies (although the companies say otherwise), using music in your own productions without license you directly harm those companies IMO...

thank you for replying so quick. the music i will use will be used souly in the assignments i am set by my college tutors, i wont be using them for my own benifit they will be used in the films i make for college. i understand about copyright laws and i always work within them. if you are still willing to share trailer music with me it would be great. there is one song i am looking for above all its called "house of cards-audiomachine".

Can Anyone help me get the track "house of cards-audiomachine". it would be a great help to me.
