You're right-- now that I really think about it, 90 second is way too long. It just seems like 90. Still, I think it's rather more than 20, though. I'll put in for 45.
Blasting Zone felt like 90 seconds; I always groaned when I saw that he was about to do it, because it takes forever.
Agent0042
08-21-2008, 11:45 PM
I know. I can't imagine that anyone could actually like Blasting Zone. What you get is so not worth it for the time it takes to run the animation. And it's a shame that there's no way to obtain Lionheart without also obtaining it.
Swift
08-25-2008, 04:48 AM
Gonna guess 20 seconds, but this is an unnecessarily specific and trivial question.
We have a winner.
FF1WithAllThieves

Wasn't expecting to be right at all, but let's see...
Alright, a pretty easy one:
What card can be won from the "Man from Garden" who owns the store of that name?
Meltigemini
08-30-2008, 02:06 PM
I think that's CC Joker who has Leviathan...
Yeah meltigemini thats correct I can tell you that.

Yep, correct. Your question.
Meltigemini
09-03-2008, 11:17 PM
What does Zell get arrested by the Disciplinary Committee for? :p
jewess crabcake
09-03-2008, 11:20 PM
hmm "arrested"? I might be wrong but wasn't it for riding his hoverboard?
RikkuYunaRinoa
09-04-2008, 12:10 AM
He gets his hoverboard confiscated. Just before Cid gives you the lamp containing Diablos. I'm not sure if that's what Meltigemini is referring to though. I don't know why, but i have a feeling its something to do with him getting into an argument with seifer. It is because he is a "chicken-wuss" ?
I'm sure its something that isn't actually an arrestable offense. Its just the Disciplinary Committee abusing their power?
jewess crabcake
09-04-2008, 12:16 AM
I think he tells a story when you finally get to his room that when he first got the hoverboard he accidentally fell into the girls bathroom, that might be it. My memory is fuzzy.
Meltigemini
09-05-2008, 12:06 AM
Ok maybe the question is a bit bad, Zell doesn't actually get arrested, but there's a point where Seifer is like "arrest that student!" - what for? :p
Nothing to do with the T-board or anything like that.

Agent0042

I know the answer, but only because I looked it up. In the interest of moving things along-- I'll toss out a hint-- what is one of the main things that Zell is known for?
I remember this one, Dont he thump someone for talking to the girl with pony tail?
Meltigemini
09-09-2008, 10:49 PM
No, this happens in the cafeteria and quite near the start of the game.
Then he thumps someone cause of lack of hot dogs or swears due to lack of hot dogs?
Agent0042
09-10-2008, 10:05 PM
Nothing quite so violent...
FF1WithAllThieves
09-13-2008, 07:19 AM
All I can think of is when he was running in the hallway of Galbadia Garden and that guy made him do pushups.
Is it something to do with the hotdogs?
Agent0042
09-16-2008, 06:45 PM
Yes, it is, and something else said has an element of truth to it too.
Alfa-D
09-17-2008, 12:40 AM
Because the DC saw him running in the cafeteria, wich is prohibited...?
Oh doesnt he knock someone over while running for hotdogs? and one of the Garden Faculty see him?
Agent0042
09-17-2008, 06:58 PM
Since Meltigemini isn't around, I'll go ahead and award it to Alfa-D. Yes, the Disciplinary Committee saw him running in the cafeteria, hoping to get hot dogs, and so Seifer's all "let's go arrest that student."

Nope. It isn't exactly a title that you would instantly relate to Laguna.

Ok I'll ask the next question.
What is the earliest disk in which Squall's 'Lionheart' gunblade is obtainable?
jewess crabcake
10-01-2008, 02:12 PM
Disk 1. I forget how to get pulse ammo, but everything else I know how to find.
FF1WithAllThieves
10-02-2008, 01:19 AM
The hard way. You have to get something like 20 Elnoyle cards just to get 2 Energy crystals, and then you mod those into Pulse Ammo.
Noobinabox
10-02-2008, 03:50 AM
Oh yea, I'm running a no-level up game, and I forgot to utilize Seifer for leveling up Ifrit (for Ammo-RF).
Do I get another chance to level up Ifrit and Siren when I have control of Edea later on? (it's not a trivia, just wondering).
Agent0042
10-02-2008, 04:25 AM
I guess so, if you're not playing a "pure" no-level up game. The No Level Up Walkthrough at GameFAQs indicates:
"5. You CANNOT gain proper Ammo for Irvine (who will just happen to be
your highest level character), and he will just have to stick with Fast
Ammo or Demolition Ammo (some people say that Fast Ammo is his best
Ammo. Unfortunately, you run out of Fast Ammo faster than anything
else...)."
So I guess under the criteria used by it, you're not allowed to level up your GF, nor Seifer or Edea. But if you're not following those rules, I don't see why not.
7alentine
10-02-2008, 04:56 AM
Yes, Jeff, Disk 1 is correct.
Your turn to ask a question.
jewess crabcake
10-02-2008, 05:03 AM
wow, first time I've gotten one.
Moving on, what is the one monster you can stock Pain from in the Garden?
7alentine
10-02-2008, 05:06 AM
Grenaldo, and you first encounter it alongside 3 Raldo's when you are searching for Ellone in the Training Area.
jewess crabcake
10-02-2008, 05:30 AM
I've never heard of getting pain from them, if you can get me a source, I'll give that to you.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/21241
hit CTRL+F and type in '#0036 - GRANALDO' then look under 'High level Draw List'.
In fact, the only enemies that Pain can be drawn from are: Granaldo, Ochu, Elnoyle and Tri-Face.
And of those, only Granaldo is found in the Garden.
jewess crabcake
10-02-2008, 05:42 AM
Actually at that point in the game, you shouldn't really be that high leveled... if it's all the same I'd like to keep it going. I'll specify: Which monster can you stock both Pain and Flare from at an early point in the game (Disk 2) In the Garden.
7alentine
10-02-2008, 05:47 AM
Dude, none.
There is no enemy in the entire game that actually stocks those two magics simultaneously except Tri-Face and I think Ultima Weapon!
Besides, I was right the first time.
Noobinabox
10-02-2008, 05:53 AM
Tri-Face are found on the MD level when you're going to activate the Garden's flying mechanism.
7alentine
10-02-2008, 06:01 AM
I got pwned...
I apologise, but I was right about Granaldo so I think I should be able to claim Victory. =]
And Victory I shall claim!
NEXT QUESTION!
What is the ONLY attack in the game that can break the 9999 damage limit?
jewess crabcake
10-02-2008, 06:06 AM
lol, since you did say Granaldo, and showed knowledge of Tri-face I'll give it to 7alentine.
Noobinabox
10-02-2008, 06:23 AM
lol, he already took it.
The new question isn't worded too well.
There are many (!!) attacks that break the 9999 damage limit.
Let's look at GF attacks:
Eden's Eternal Breath (Max 60000)
Cactuar GF's 10,000 Needles (Max 10,000)
Other Attacks
Boko's ChocoBuckle (Requires Pocketstation)
Kamikaze command (Character's Max HP x 5)
Quistis' Shockwave Pulsar

10-05-2008, 07:23 AM
It's a two part question!
What do the three red characters seen in Odin's Zantetsuken attack translate into?
And, when Seifer defeats Odin, a new set of characters appear.
What is the translation of the new set?
7alentine
10-05-2008, 11:35 AM
Odin's kanji appear and translate into Sever
After defeating Odin, Seifer's kanji appear and translate into Reverse.
Noobinabox
10-06-2008, 12:49 AM
The website I found regarding this matter said that his Kanji is "Zantetsuken" which literally translates into "iron cutting sword"
and later turns into "Zantetsuken Reverse"
Close enough though. Translations get pretty ambiguous. Your turn.
7alentine
10-07-2008, 05:23 AM
Yeah I read up on mine and it seems pretty reliable cause when Sever is flipped and 'E' is added, it becomes Reverse, hence the extra kanji after Seifer's attack.
But I'll claim victory either way.
What personal item does Squall give Zell during Galbadia's attack and why?
Sorry, it's lame I know but I can't think of any others.
paarish
10-07-2008, 04:40 PM
He gives him Griever and because Rinoa wanted it to make a copy or summin like that...
jewess crabcake
10-07-2008, 09:05 PM
actually he gives him his huge ring.
7alentine
10-07-2008, 11:11 PM
I'm going to give it to paarish because although he wasn't spot on, he did describe why as well as vaguely what.
jewess crabcake
10-07-2008, 11:21 PM
Umm griever and his ring are 2 different things. Griever is the attachment to his gunblade, his ring has an etching of Griever's face. Also he gives it to Zell because Rinoa wanted "one just like it" not to make a copy. Zell was simply playing match maker.
Noobinabox
10-08-2008, 12:06 AM
Griever is the default name for the ring.
Yeah I read up on mine and it seems pretty reliable cause when Sever is flipped and 'E' is added, it becomes Reverse, hence the extra kanji after Seifer's attack.
I'm pretty sure the translations between those Japanese characters and English letters have no direct correlation.
Anyway, here's my source.
斬鉄剣 (Zantetsuken):
* 斬 (zan) means "cutting" or "beheading"
* 鉄 (tetsu) means "iron"
* 剣 (ken) means "sword"
斬鉄剣 返し (Zantetsuken Kaeshi) does mean "Reverse Zantetsuken" or "Counter Zantetsuken," I think.
jewess crabcake
10-08-2008, 12:22 AM
No, the name of the lion on both figures is griever.
7alentine
10-08-2008, 12:50 AM
You're all wrong! Griever has 5 appearances! Not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5, if not more!
From what I can remember, he appears as -
- Squall's Pendant
- Squall's Ring
- Etched on Squall's 'Revolver' gunblade
- Modelled in Squall's 'Lionheart' gunblade
- Ultimecia's GF
That is beside the point, paarish's answer was the closest to the answer I wanted! If he doesn't ask a question soon, Jeff can take the turn.

All right, I'll have a go. Name all the tracks that contain the "Final Fantasy Prelude" theme in FFVIII.
I'm pretty confident when I say that... zero of them do.
Ending Theme contains "Final Fantasy" though, in case that's what you're looking for.
No, actually at least one of them does contain the prelude theme.
Ending Theme then...? I don't think anything else...

Yes. It is the Loser. Your go.
Alright, name all the tracks that feature someone saying the words "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec".
I cant remember the names of the tunes but I can tell you where they are played.
The opening titles obviously, When you see Edea, Also when Rinoa is possessed and speaks to Seifer as far as I remember.

2. Julia
3. Love Grows
4. Waltz of the Moon
5. It's not on the OST so I'm not sure if it counts, but the song played with the four "slow" instruments in the dance scene.
6. My Mind

Okay.... more music (sorry guys!)
What are the tracks on the OST that are used only once for an FMV and never again in the game? Hint there are 6.
I repeat, FMV.
I think I got them:
Liberi Fatali (Opening Track)
Starting Up
Dead End
Wounded
Blue Sky
Ending Theme
Four of those are correct.
Starting up is ALMOST qualified, except it's played in the scene where they're talking to the fake president on the train.
Dead End... well, I'm pretty sure there was dialogue in it's scene in Dollet, but it's used again in the scene with the Fisherkid and in Deling.
The other four are correct though...
oh yeah. alright, let me take another stab at it. are the other two Retalliation and Tears of the Moon?
Yep! That's it... alright your go!

I don't think it was him. But again, I'm not sure.
He was in charge of the plan, but I feel like I remember a mention of him starting the Forest Owls. Yes, Rinoa's dad.
Don't remember how or why or when it's mentioned. But it makes sense that she is the "Princess" if she's his daughter.
Though, really, the only reason behind her having the title "the Princess" is their way of letting you name her so they have something to refer to her as until then.

:) Lot of interesting guesses, but so far nobody is correct. I'll start giving out hints if a day or two goes by and nobody gets it, but it's still too early right now. Oh, and the old woman in the house is the leader of a different resistance group, the "Forest Fox," although I don't believe it says anywhere specifically that she founded it.

No-- I already said it's neither Zone, nor Watts. (And not the two of them together, either, to be clear on that.)
Laguna maybe? I dunno...
EDIT: I think I found the answer on Google and even that was hard to find. If it's what I think, I wouldn't bet on anyone getting it, considering where you supposedly find out. But you never know... good question.

No, not Julia. As far as I know, she was only ever an entertainer, and certainly didn't have any interest either in Timber, or in founding resistance movements.

This one sounds fun, so I'll give it a shot:
1: Bite Bug
2: Creeps
3: Bomb
4: Tonberry
5: Tonberry King
6: Elvoret
7: Ultima Weapon
8: Minimog
9: Eden

Sounds right to me, but that'd require a lot of Tri-Face cards.
Sorry didn't notice this got replies... but yes that's correct.
A lot of Tri-Face cards is right, but that's a walk on the beach compared to leveling Siren to 100 (which can be done as well)!
Agent0042
11-27-2008, 04:04 AM
Thanks, Zak. And yes-- that's exactly what I was about to say-- yeah, getting the Tri-Face cards would take a while, but it's definitely the leveling of Siren that would make it pretty exhausting to try to obtain Shockwave Pulsar at that point.
Hrm, all right, new question, then. I guess this one shouldn't be too rough...
For what reason does Laguna decide to give Ward the "Cuchi-Cuchi treatment"?
Ceidwad
11-27-2008, 01:39 PM
Is it for suggesting that they're doomed in Centra in the face of Esthar Soldiers, just before they leap off the cliff?
May be completely wrong here, I'm acting on a very fuzzy memory of the game.
Ceidwad from what I remember that would have been my guess as well.
Agent0042
11-28-2008, 03:14 AM
Yeah, you got it, Ceidwad. He says something like "It's been fun, you guys" and Laguna says that it's not cool to say stuff like that and gives him the "Cuchi Cuchi treatment."
Your go, if you want it.

11-28-2008, 11:51 AM
OK. This may seem a bit obscure, but it's the first thing that came to my head. In Esthar in Disc 3, after the Lunatic Pandora incident, there is a non-random, non-compulsory, non-boss encounter you can take part in somewhere in the city. What monster can you fight?
It's an Elnoyle... I remember that thing annoyed the shit out of me it seemed like it had infinite HP! You talk to one of the soldiers and he's one in disguise.

Let's have some more FFVIII Trivia.
Somebody tell me this-- when is it possible to get a Game Over even if Phoenix shows up after your entire party has been KOed?
When everyone's a Zombie?
Agent0042
05-15-2009, 08:49 AM
Good guess, Zak, but no dice I'm afraid. When a character is KOed in VIII, any negative status that they were under goes away, including Zombie. Any other guesses?
Ahh... racking my brains a bit, I think I got it. If any negative status goes away, at first I thought there might be a status where HP can't change, and that'd be Invincible, but how would you get a game over in the first place. I also considered the "automatic Game Over" possibility like with Banon from VI, but there is no such thing.
Then I thought it was something to do with Phoenix's damage, maybe if Fire fails to hit it seems unlikely, but that doesn't make sense, it's gotta do with Phoenix's damage.
And that leaves one option, seeing as it never somehow reflects back on you, it's gotta be a target you can't kill. In the Adel battle, it can kill Rinoa. Which is SORT of like killing Banon except she's not in your party.
Agent0042
05-15-2009, 09:35 AM
Erm... you're overthinking it. And if nobody gets it, you guys are gonna slap yourselves once I reveal the answer. :D
Anyway, I have no idea if that's that true or not, but not what I'm looking for. However, if nobody can come up with the answer I'm looking for in, let's say 24 hours, I'll award it to you, seeing as it probably is true.
If you run out of time, Say in the missle base during the battle you die in?
Agent0042

The last battle? I know that if you take too long to revive a character, they disappear. So if Phoenix was summoned if your party all died at that point, would you vanish before it's effect kicked in?
Agent0042
05-16-2009, 02:41 AM
Any character vanished by Ultimecia is just replaced by another one, if available. So no. However, you're so hot, you're almost on fire. You're closer than anyone else has been to the answer. Still, if nobody else can get it within the next couple ours, I'm gonna have to award it to Zak.
Agent0042
05-16-2009, 04:42 AM
All right, I have to give it to Zak. Your question Zak, if you want it.
And the answer that I was looking for is that Resurrect is one of the eight functions sealed inside Ultimecia's Castle. Until it's unsealed, your characters can't be revived while inside the castle. So if Phoenix appears, his attempt to revive the characters will simply Miss. Game Over. How do I know? It happened to me.
Really... wow, I'm surprised it wasn't the Adel battle, because I believe that DID happen to me, everyone was dead, Phoenix came, killed Rinoa, and I got game over. So yes, it is true.
I like my answer better because Phoenix actually causes the game over. :P
But, um.... I can't think of a question. I'm all out. Someone else can have it.
