I'll try and keep this running then. I don't usually post in this topic so forgive me if I ask a question that's already been said.
Q: How much gil would you recieve from a Level 23 SeeD salary?
discodan
10-30-2007, 06:09 PM
methinks
15,500 or 15,000??

Thanks, BTW, figuring it out was just a matter of knowing that A is 30000, 30 is 20000 and then it's a 500 deduction for each level down.
I'll leave this one free, discodan can have it if he wants.
FF1WithAllThieves
10-30-2007, 10:01 PM
I'll go ahead and say one, and if Discodan really wants it, he can nullify my question.
Can you name all the areas that originally use that damn'd random rule?

Hm.. didn't Dollet have the rule too?
FF1WithAllThieves
11-01-2007, 04:12 PM
Yes, you are correct. You two put it together, so fight to the death for the question. And by "fight to the death" I mean "whoever posts first gets it."
Ill beat em both to it with a simple question.
Which magic does rapture look very similar to. And who can cast rapture?
It looks very similar to Float and only Selphie (or everyone if you used gameshark :D) can cast it.

It would be very nice if Xandy would respond as to whether the answer(s) given were correct. If he doesn't, one of you guys should take the question.
I'll give it another day or two. Ever since discodan mentioned Angel Wing, I don't know which would be the corrent answer because both spells include wings.

11-13-2007, 10:11 PM
That's much more than a day or two, so I'll ask a question:

Correct, FF1WithAllThieves! There are 6 discs: The Installer disc, 4 game discs, and in the place of the manual, a sixth disc with a soft copy of the manual in it.
Your turn to ask the question.
FF1WithAllThieves

I was gonna say common time, but I thought common time was 3/4. :(
Okay, this one may be tricky:
Which well-known Final Fantasy song outside of FFVIII begins with the same theme as The Successor? (~ 0:33 - 1:20)
FF1WithAllThieves
11-30-2007, 06:34 AM

"The Successor" is the tune that plays when Squall ends up back at the orphanage of the past after the Ultimecia fight and Edea inherits Ultimecia's powers.
FF1WithAllThieves

Im guessing The Nightmare's Beginning From VII....
IDK and I cant really think of anything else that sounds like it...it has a similar run
FF1WithAllThieves
11-30-2007, 09:34 PM
That's the melodic one I heard. The accompaniment figure with the scale degrees 5, #5, 6, #5 appears in the forest music of FFVI.
The one I was hoped someone would choose was Vamo' Alla Flamenco, from FFIX, however, I'm accepting The Phantom Forest, as FF1WithAllThieves found, because it also begins with the same chord pattern as The Successor (as Thieves said, 5, #5, 6, #5). Thus, the question goes to him.

FF1WithAllThieves
12-03-2007, 05:07 AM
Yes indeed! (Yeah, that's an enemy attack in Chrono Trigger, I know).
Headmaster Cid was the correct answer; I suppose it's a little piece of the dialogue that you guys must have missed (paraphrased because I don't remember it completely):
"It's been a long time since anybody defeated us!"
"Ever since Headmaster Cid."
So anyway, it's Agent's question now.

All right, new question, let's see... okay. Let's see if anyone can get this one. In Shumi Village, the Sculptor names six great features of the moombas when Zell refers to them as "beasts." Name... oh, at least three of those features.

Agent0042
12-05-2007, 05:06 PM
No. All right, tell you what, you're all released. Here are the six great features of the moomba...
Sculptor: "Did you not see their noble features? Their gem-like eyes revealing innocence! Their bright red hair symbolizing passion! Their spectacular hair signifying power! Their soothing, adorable cries! Their mighty hands with incredible strength! Their proud posture demanding respect! Everything about them is great!"
I release it. Anyone can have a new question if they want it. IDX Rider, I suppose you get first dibs, since you were closer than anyone. You mentioned hair twice in a way and so did the Sculptor and you also said the red part again.
FF1WithAllThieves
12-07-2007, 08:55 PM
Alright, IDX had his chance.
Name all of the player cards that are tied for the highest sum of all of their numbers (A=10).
I did indeed miss my chance. That's what I get for not being on for a day.
That question dont make sense. FF1 but from I remember, Squall and Seifers add up to make the same and they are probably the highest.
FF1WithAllThieves
12-09-2007, 06:17 PM
You just add up all four numbers on the card and count As as 10. Squall and Seifer are two of three, can you name the other one?
Mierna

Squall + Seifer + Zell + Kiros: Their cards equal 29.

You need to be of a certain level to be able to beat X-ATM092 in Dollet. True or False?
FF1WithAllThieves
12-20-2007, 06:08 AM
Completely false. You simply have to have the means to take down its HP before it repairs itself, and you have to do it multiple times on the bridge. Junctioning Tornado to Squall's Str stat and using Renzokuken will do the trick nicely.
RAMChYLD
12-21-2007, 05:38 AM
Correct, although you don't really need to take it out at the bridge- You can do it on second encounter after you run away from the first.

What is the status that you have cast on T-Rex to defeat him the first time?
FF1WithAllThieves
01-11-2008, 09:32 PM
Well, you don't HAVE to cast any kind of status on him; I beat him in about two hits, thanks to the fact that I junctioned 100 tornado's to Squall's str stat and gave him str+40%. However, the SUGGESTED status effect that Quistis tells you about is sleep, I believe. If I'm not mistaken, she gives you a full tutorial of status attack, and suggests junctioning sleep to it.
Hmmm, I thought it was blind...
FF1WithAllThieves
01-12-2008, 01:40 AM
Blind is certainly helpful against T-Rexaur, but I'm fairly sure the tutorial on status atk is sleep. Then again, I always just canceled out of it immediately because I know the junction system better than the game does.
discodan
01-12-2008, 01:43 AM

What do you have to do in order to get the Lionheart gunblade on the first disc (including items you need, who drops them, if you need to refine items then tell me what that item is and what does it refine into, and the monsters that drop the items)?
Meltigemini
01-19-2008, 06:03 PM
Ok...
First you will need to get your average party level somewhere between lv20-29 and fight T-Rexaurs to get the Dragon Fangs (they only drop them at these levels and I think they're the only enemy on disc 1 to drop them).
You'll then need to get to over lv30 and get an Adamantine from the Adamantoises on the beach near Dollet.
In the second Laguna sequence (assuming you're already lv30) fight in the screen with the staircase and get an Elastoid every second battle (they're pretty rare anywhere else if I remember) and mug to get Laser Cannons. You'll need 3 of these to refine into 5 Pulse Ammo each with Ammo-RF and you need 12 total for the weapon.
Then you'll need a bit of money too, 2000 is it? Or 1200... can't remember the amount. But you'll have that anyway. :p
And if this is anywhere near right I'll be amazed because I haven't played this game in years.
lets rebump this thread and say free question to whoever wants it.

This isn't a random trivia thread. You post one question at a time, and you only to get post a question if you get the previous one correct, or if somebody says that it's open and anyone can post one.

Where's Baby Boink's trivia? We must not let this thread die!

So, I suppose its my turn right?
What six statuses can be applied to anything in the game?
Agent0042
04-29-2008, 09:03 PM
I'm going to take a gamble at this -- Slow, Haste, Silence, Blind, Confuse and Aura. Probably not right -- if not, can you give me how many were correct, since nobody else seems to be trying?
RikkuYunaRinoa
04-29-2008, 10:04 PM
I wouldn't have said slow, because some bosses are immune to it arn't they?
I'll say..
Haste,Float,Regen,Reflect,Shell,Aura
??
I'll also ask the same as Agent, please can you let me know which ones are correct. Thanks
What would Aura do to most enemies? The only thing I can recall it doing is getting Raijin to use "Raijin Special" and getting that robot at the end of the prison place use Gaitling Gun.

No idea, probably. Your answer may be closer to the mark -- I guess we'll find out.
As for Aura -- I seem to recall that it could be applied to enemies, it was just that it worked differently. Gave them a boost, somehow.
Read his question. It says anything in the game. Not just enemies.
Obviously not JUST enemies, but "everything in the game" does include enemies... I don't get what you're trying to prove here.
I just was wondering how if every enemy in the game (including bosses and such because they're also "anything") could have Aura cast on them, how there could be a special move each of them uses when in has it, since Aura on allies doesn't really affect stats, it helps them use certain abilities.
Same with Aura when Raijin uses it on himself, as does that robot in the prison. I guess Agent's answer makes sense that it boosts stats of most enemies rather than help them use a move. The above two actually use it themselves, so it makes sense that it would help them use a move, and there may be more enemies like that.
RikkuYunaRinoa
04-29-2008, 11:15 PM
It looked like you were saying that Aura couldn't be one of the statuses, because it didn't do much to enemies. And iirc, it still did something. So we'll see.

What about Meltdown?
I know its not so much a status magic, makes vit = 0, i seem to remember that it worked on all enemies and bosses after u can draw it..
never cast scan on em, but they all turned purple!!!

Aura, Meltdown, and Shell are three of the six that have been mentioned by Agent, Discodan, and Cookie.
Agent0042
04-30-2008, 03:32 AM
So.. none of the others were correct then. Interesting. All right, if Shell is one, how about Protect? Hmm... I'll go Doom also, although that's probably not right. And I'll try Poison, though I'm pretty sure that isn't right.
Damn, this is a tough one.
If I'm wrong on any, then just say which are right again, and I'll bow out for at least twelve hours to give someone else a crack at it.
What kind of status change does Shell do?
Agent0042
04-30-2008, 04:03 AM
Well, "Shell" is considered a status. A protective status, but still a status.
What about protect or reflect? Would they count as well? I also believe Curse is a status ailment too.
Noobinabox
04-30-2008, 08:24 AM
Good Job, Agent, on the deductive reasoning.
Protect is now added to the list.
Protect
Shell
Vit0
Aura
Only two more.
Reflect isn't one? That would have been my next guess.
I'm gonna hazard a guess at Berserk, seeing as it's viewed as more of a positive status than a negative one.
Hmmm... Silence also appears to be a possibility, but probably isn't right...

Agent0042
04-30-2008, 09:54 PM
Regen has already been said, Float, however, I don't believe has. Neither "Dispel" nor "Cure" are statuses. Haste I think may have been said, but if it hasn't, I don't see it as likely. Could be wrong, though.

04-30-2008, 10:00 PM
Nice brainstorming!
Since it seems like everyone is lost, I'll provide a hint:
Vit0 is the only status of the six that does not benefit the inflicted (character/monster/boss/etc).
Ummmmmm.... Invincibility? Throwing Heros at whatever, works?
EDIT: wait. Double and Triple! How can we have missed those? It has to be them.
RikkuYunaRinoa

I hope it is, I'm getting intrigued as to what they are.
Noobinabox
04-30-2008, 11:42 PM
Gj, Zak.
The six were:
Protect and Shell
Double and Triple
Aura
and Vit0.
I'll give it to Zak if no one objects.
If you were wondering...here's the distribution of people who first guessed the status.
Protect - Agent
Shell - Cookie
Aura - Agent
Double - Zak
Triple - Zak
Vit0 - Discodan
So, it's technically a tie between Zak and Agent. However, Zak got the two less obvious ones that nobody else guessed.
Hmm... well, I want it since I just sorta joined this thread. Sorry Agent, hope you don't mind... probably would have let me have it anyway.
Okay, I hope this isn't too tough a question:
There are two tracks on the OST whose titles are names of locations in the game. However, there is one other location in the game they play which isn't the one in the title. What are the two and what are the other locations they're at?
Like for example, say there was a track called "Timber", and aside from being played there, it also was in Galbadia Garden (completely fictitious example, there isn't even such a track). But that's the general idea. Two tracks with location-names, and places they're played which aren't said locations.
And to be fair, I'll probably also give it to whoever gets the last detail, but we'll see.
Fisherman's Horizon and Galbadia GARDEN are the tracks with town names.
And I believe Shumi Village is where they also played Fisherman's Horizon. Because I'm a little confused at what you're asking, are saying that only 1 of these tracks are played elsewhere or both?
Noobinabox
05-01-2008, 12:54 AM
Let me confirm this. You'll get credit if its true.
Edit:
I haven't found fisherman's horizon music at Shumi Village just yet.
I did find the music they play from Balamb Town in Shumi Village. However, there is no track named "Balamb Town."
Edit:They also play the Balamb Town type music in chocobo forests. I'm not sure if its all the forests though.
...but...Ahah! I got one. They play a guitar remix of "Balamb Garden" when Selphie and friends visit Trabia Garden.
IDX - Both these tracks are played elsewhere other than their corresponding location, the question is what are these tracks and where.
And to answer your questions, "Fisherman's Horizon" does not play in Shumi Village. Good try though...
I know they play some kind of music in the village, just can't remember which piece it was, but Fisherman's Horizon came to mind.
Oh, and Noobinabox, I didn't see your edit, but if it's a "Guitar remix" of Balamb Garden, it's a different track. There are so many variations of Balamb Garden on the OST and so many of Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec as well as of Eyes On Me. I mean the specific track. For instance, the one in Trabia is called "Where I Belong".

But, the name of the song must include the location where it is first played?
In that case, I have 6 songs that are also locations:
Balamb Garden
Galbadia Garden
Fisherman's Horizon
The Salt Flats
Lunatic Pandora
The Castle
If you consider "Timber Owls" a location, then I know they play that track when Laguna is making his "movie."
"Dancing with the BalambFish" is originally played in Dollet. However, you can hear it when your party first heads to the lunar station.

Yes the name of the song must include the location it is first played, like the ones you listed would be good candidates for the ones I'm looking for. But I actually don't consider "Timber Owls" a location, because that's a name of a group, plus that track is not played IN Timber regularly. Good reckon though, keep thinking.
The funny thing though in FFX there's a track called "Macalania Forest, which is only played in the couple screens bordering on Bevelle and the Calm Lands while the rest of the actual forest plays a different track throughout the whole game.
But none of the VIII tracks are like that.

It's freakin' EYES ON ME. It plays in Laguna's dream sequence and in the Shumi hotel.
You completely misunderstood the question. First of all, there isn't a place called "Eyes on Me" last time I checked, so there you have it. Aside from that, the two places you mentioned don't even play "Eyes on Me", you're thinking of "Julia". EYES ON ME is the vocal one.
There are other versions of Eyes On Me, but they have different names.

Zombie?
My guess is there's a certain boss that uses something that exploits it.
Hmm, what if you're fighting Odin... and because when you fight him he always uses Zantetsuken only when the timer runs out, and the point is to defeat him before he uses it (since he doesn't do anything else). If everyone's invincible there, I find it hard to believe they'd still survive Zantetsuken since it's connected with the timer.
Is that it?
Noobinabox
05-07-2008, 03:55 AM
Actually, that was a good guess.
But, it's not the answer I'm looking for.
I should specify to say that this situation (of the character being knocked out with the effects of hero) can be reenacted in a random encounter or a boss fight.
Agent0042
05-07-2008, 03:56 AM
My guess is that isn't it because that's technically just a Game Over, not a KO. I'm gonna go with Petrify for now, though it's probably not right.
Noobinabox

The KO'd character is not KO'd because of any actions made by the boss/monster.

Hmm. I'd say they attack themselves or other characters attack them, but that almost seems too easy. Yet I can't think of anything else -- I was gonna say Poison status, but that has to be inflicted by the monster first. So I guess I will go with self/party attacks.

So far, I've resented all of your trivia.
Anyway, here are the five:
Blue Spike, Hi-Potion+, Bandit's Hand, Phoenix Heart, and Torama's Beard.
While searching through all of the questions, I found one that said
1. No magic removes Doom
Ans: Yes
Which isn't as true as they say it is. The effects of doom can be prevented by a character afflicted by zombie or holy war/hero.

Hah, cause it's lame or cause it's hard?
For the record all my trivia's gonna be like this.
Anyway, four of those are right. Hi-Potion+ is a real item, it just doesn't do what they say it does. So that leaves one left...
Also I think they meant they'll still be in Doom status but nothing will happen. Like, there's still gonna be a countdown no matter what, but you can stop them from dying.

I didn't know we were allowed to search through or check the game. Though you'd almost have to on something like this.

Wait, never mind. The Gauntlet is a real weapon for Zell... But what about the "shinobu"? ... No, I guess that's real too...
Noobinabox
05-08-2008, 11:59 PM
I have a list of "fake" things that they mentioned.
Sorcery, Action Point, Magic Sword, Ability Tone Black (ATB), Blue Spikes, Walk-Gil, Watera/Waterga, Bandit's Hand, Phoenix Heart, Torama's Beard.
This trivia is alright, but the OST one was frustratingly difficult. Like, there's challenging difficult, and there's frustratingly difficult.

Magic Sword, then?
Nah, good try, I don't consider weapon names items. Also, Noobinabox, you missed "Double GF" and "Garden Fighter" and the "GraBia" monster as well... and my item.
EDIT: and you also missed "Kenzokuken".

Hey thanks, alrighty then.
What are all of the benefits and detriments for the status of zombie?
There are 5 total for player controlled characters and 6 for computer controlled enemies (the same five as the players' plus another one).
As you get the obvious ones, I will give you hints as to how I classified them.
Grr... I can't stand your trivia as well, I'm so gonna get you if I get this one. Hah..
First of all, are the five player ones the same as 5/6 of the enemy ones? Or you don't want to tell me, that's alright.
Okay, obvious ones:
Pros:
-Immune to death (both)
-Immune to "The End" (enemies, unless that's the same as Death but it isn't really)
Cons:
-Can't be cured.
-This might not be one, I forget if this was the case here or in IX or in both, where if you're KOed, revival spells and Phoenix Downs won't work until you take away the status.
-Regen becomes Poison.
I don't know..
Noobinabox
05-09-2008, 12:34 PM
Alright, Zak, you got quite a few...
Regen, Phoenix Down, and all of that I put under the category "curative" because they are all very obvious once you think on the level of raising the HP of another player.
So Zak has:
Cannot be Cured
Immune to Death Magic
Immune to Selphie's The End
All of the player-controlled character benefits and detriments are the same as the non-player controlled benefits and detriments (The End was an extra one for the non-player controlled characters)
So there are 3 more that need to be mentioned.
Ketevan
05-09-2008, 12:41 PM
Cons:
Holy causes more damage (x2/x3?)
Fire, I believe also causes more damage but I'm not sure.
I think there was a question on the SeeD test saying that Fire causes more damage and it was false.
Noobinabox
05-09-2008, 09:35 PM
True, Fire does not cause more damage, but holy does. (I think by a factor of 2)
So we need 2 more.
