Enkidoh, we all know you're right, and it's almost been a month, so I'll step in and say you can probably go.

Enkidoh
05-04-2010, 02:52 PM
No problem. :) This should be a nice and easy one.

What country did Mayor Dobe (the leader of Fisherman's Horizon) originally come from, and why did he leave it?

frodo660
05-04-2010, 05:05 PM
wasn't it Esthar? because of their policies with war or something?

i think...

Techchild
05-04-2010, 10:57 PM
Galbadia?

Enkidoh
05-07-2010, 05:34 AM
Frodo660 got it. Dobe was originally from Esthar, but left the country because of his pacifistic views didn't gel with Esthar's increasingly militaristic government.

Anyway, Frodo has the next question. :D

frodo660
05-07-2010, 03:23 PM
Alrighty!
This is probably going to be quite obvious but i found it quite hard to remember.

When escaping from Galbadia Prison and Squall is dangling from the walkway as it starts to go underground, which direction do you have to shimmy to safety?

Techchild
05-07-2010, 05:24 PM

Utilizing a certain glitch in the game, what is the most powerfull spell in the game, dis-regarding apocalypse?

IDX
05-08-2010, 09:56 PM
The End

Techchild
05-09-2010, 12:01 AM
nope

Olde
05-09-2010, 12:57 AM
I believe it's Meteor, by using a buffed-up Rinoa's second limit break Angel Wing.

IDX
05-09-2010, 01:05 AM
The End is one-hit-kill though. And using glitches to obtain it, it's the strongest spell.

Techchild
05-09-2010, 10:53 AM
It is indeed Meteor. The End is also known as Apocalyspe due to bad translation.

The End = Apcalypse. They are the same spell.(different area of release)

Your go Olde

IDX
05-09-2010, 11:21 PM
Then....what would Ultimecia's spell be called then? I'm not going by translation but by the English game so to me, The End and Apocalypse are totally different.

Agent0042
05-10-2010, 02:24 AM
Yeah, they've always been two different spells to me. You can even draw Apocalypse from Ultimecia and use it.

Olde
05-10-2010, 04:01 AM
I think IDX got it. The spell he's referring to is the command from Selphie's Slots. While it's not technically a magic spell per se, I see what he's saying, and in that case it is the strongest spell in the game if you use glitches.

Your go, IDX.

IDX
05-10-2010, 09:18 AM
Anyone can have the question. I was just curious about how it couldn't be the strongest spell.

Enkidoh
05-10-2010, 10:57 AM
Okay, if no one else wants it, I guess I'll post one. :)

Apart from the Ragnarok, how many other members of that class of airship appeared during the game? (hint, they're shown during a certain FMV scene)

Alexander the decent
05-10-2010, 07:54 PM
oops, theres 3 ships of that type, but 2 apart from the ragnorok, my bad.

Techchild
05-10-2010, 09:38 PM
There were 4. 3 to pull Adels tomb into space and Ragnarok as the flagship.

frodo660
05-10-2010, 09:59 PM
but the question was 'apart from Ragnarok'.

FF1WithAllThieves
05-11-2010, 05:59 AM
Is it confirmed that those 3 and the Ragnarok are the only ones in existence? Because it doesn't seem like they would have invented spaceships so advanced without having launched more than 4 of them into space throughout their space program's history.

IDX
05-14-2010, 03:01 AM
They could've been built solely for the purpose of sealing Adel. Did they even talk about the history of those ships? I can't really remember if they did.

Enkidoh
05-18-2010, 11:10 PM
Well, I just relied on my memory of the game when I asked the question so I'm going to award Alexanderthegreat the question, as his second answer was correct (I remember seeing 2 other Ragnarok-class spacecraft besides the Ragnarok itself during the Adel's Tomb launch scene, so three ships total.)

What happened to them after though is anyone's guess - I suppose they were probably left in orbit like the Ragnarok. But anyway.

Alexander, it's your go. :D

What is the name of the person mentioned as the creator of Triple Triad?

Bonus points to whoever can mentioned this person's appearance in another FF title.

Enkidoh
06-05-2010, 03:52 AM
Orlan Durai is mentioned in the Battle Menu thing as being Triple Triad's creator, who FF purists should know first appeared as a NPC (and a player character in one memorable battle!) in FF Tactics.

It's a pity he didn't stay in the party though in FFT - 'Galaxy Stop' was pure win. But I digress... :p

Darth Revan
06-05-2010, 03:55 AM
That's correct. Your question Enkidoh.

Enkidoh
06-07-2010, 06:01 AM
Excluding Minimog, which is more an ability than a summon, what are the three GFs that cannot be equipped by characters but can only summoned using specific items in battle, and what are the items needed to summon each one?

And no, Odin/Gilgamesh don't count either, as they're uncontrollable when they show up (nor do they have items to summon them).

Techchild
06-07-2010, 08:26 AM
Pheonix, moomba, Boko.

If I remember correctly you can obtain 2 Fire Pinions in the game itself but you need the Pocket-Station to Aquire the Freindship potion (moomba) and Gyshal Green (Chocobo).

Wasn't it also possible to summon Mini-mog using a GF ability you can only get from Pocket station as well?

Enkidoh
06-07-2010, 03:30 PM
That's right on all counts. Although I didn't include Minimog because it's indeed an ability you can have any regular GF in the game learn by using Mog's Amulet. Equipping this 'ability' to a character allows them to summon Mog in battle, who restores a GF's HP in return for gil.

And yes, Mog's Amulet can only be gained from the Chocobo World minigame, along with the Friendship item needed to summon Moomba. Chocobo World can only be played using an imported Pocketstation for the PSX version, although it's included as a separate program with the PC version of FFVIII. But I digress...

Anyway Techchild, you got it so it's your question. :D

Techchild
06-07-2010, 06:03 PM
Boko is the chicobo in FF8, but which 3 games beforehand (in the main series) were the name used??

Techchild
06-08-2010, 08:54 PM
Its not a doll.

Techchild
06-11-2010, 08:12 AM
Well its been a few days, so the answers are as follows.

FF III: Boko is an npc who gives you Phoenix Downs in exchange for 50,000 gil.

FF V: Bartz's pet chocobo

FF VI: Child and Grandpa buy Boko the talking Choco for 500,000 gp.

Next question to whoever posts next.

I believe the answer's actually supposed to be Edea, since you win her card from her, but Agent's answer is technically just as correct, since Edea no longer has her card after Squall wins it from her, whereas Squall only does have his card after he wins it from Laguna.

I think it should be Agent's, but if he doesn't want it, I don't want it either, so if I get credit for it, then free question.

Secondly, far as I know there is no way to accurately answer as to 'What/Who is the real identity of Ultimecia?' There are a lot of theories (one saying it's a version of Ellone, and another saying it's a alternate form of Rinoa), but nothing 100% concrete.

As JohnnyMercyside said, "Your turn" omega911 to ask a question.

I see. Perhaps the question can be deleted though.

About the question, It was found that there is a real identity of Ultimecia though. The answer lies in the final and the beginning of the game though.

'In the final and the beginning of the game'? You mean Edea Kramer? She was possessed by Ultimecia, so unless you want to go into a long theory reminiscent of a script from Star Trek, let's leave it at that. Also, to discuss 'that', create a new thread or something... this thread isn't for that discussion.

I always thought the first Ulitimicia you fight (red dress) is the Junction-machine-Ellone that Dr.Odine says he started making presently, but is a full working machine in the future. Its this version that you see possesing Edea in G.garden.

Anyway you say theres a question??

Well, it is not Edea as well, but it was related to her.

I will put a new thread for that. Since you have the answer for this one, Death's Head, let that consider Rinoa is correct. Perhaps for the correct owner to put the following question.

Sorry for my hijacking >.<

Nah, I guess I was sort of waiting for Baby Boink to say it's okay, but I can't think of anything else that could possibly be Laguna's Theme, so I'll go ahead and ask a question...

What location is the train that the party takes out of Timber bound for?

Galbadia right? or that area rather

Enkidoh

Enkidoh
02-21-2011, 05:45 AM
That SeeD's goal is to 'grow flowers all over the world to promote peace', or something like that. Clearly he was tricking the guard into believing Garden is a hippy commune. ;)

But it's funnier to have Squall defiant and taunt the guard instead of lying. :p

Enkidoh
02-23-2011, 04:35 PM
Following Sorceress Adel's defeat by Laguna, and her resultant confinement in cryogenic suspension above the world in orbit, long range radio and analog TV transmissions become unusable due to the tomb's containment field causing severe radio interference on the surface.

What replacement technology is stated as having therefore become the standard means of communication in FFVIII's world?

JohnnyMercyside
02-23-2011, 04:54 PM
It's the HD Cables isn't it? It lets them do short ones but not continental or global broadcasts. Something like that anyway, I'm on Disc 2 and have vaguely forgotten already :D

Enkidoh
03-06-2011, 08:01 PM
Yep, it's stated as being HD Cable - presumably some kind of ADSL/digital stream technology, as computer terminals are widespread yet TVs seem to have become scarce on account of the radio interference. Galbadia's attack on Dollet was to connect this HD cable system to the old radio transmission tower to broadcast Deling's deceleration of 'peace' to people in countries whose HD connections had been damaged or severed due to monster attacks and war.

Anyway, you got it, so your go Johnny. :)

Under what circumstances can you get the Lionheart ultimate weapon on Disc 1? Without cheating of course.

Enkidoh
03-23-2011, 08:28 PM
Well, Ifrit gains the Ammo-RF ability at lvl 10 (necessary to make Pulse Ammo for the weapon's synthesis), Adamantite is dropped by Adamantoises found on the beaches and plain near Dollet, and the Dragon Fang can be dropped by Grendels found in the forests near Timber, so theoretically the earliest is when Squall and party are heading to Galbadia Garden after getting off the train at East Academy (and after a little GF levelling too of course :P), however, the item required to synth Pulse Ammo (Energy Crystals) isn't found anywhere in disc 1 to my knowledge (neither is the Weapons Monthly magazine needed for it to even appear in the Weapon Shop for synthesis too for that matter).

Prove me wrong though. :p

Agent0042
03-23-2011, 11:49 PM
Actually, it is possible to get the Energy Crystals and synthesize the Lionheart on Disc 1 - those have to be gotten using Card Mod - offhand, I believe you they come from Elynoyle Cards. And Weapons Monthly magazines don't matter - it's always possible to synthesize a weapon even if you don't have the correct magazine for it, so long as you have the required items and the pittance of gil.

However, other than that, I believe Enkidoh's answer is correct, including the specifics of it being once you get off the train at East Academy, so this one should be awarded to Enkidoh.

JohnnyMercyside
03-24-2011, 03:35 PM
You can also get Laser Cannons from Elastoids on Disc 1, when you are Laguna in Lunatic Pandora. You can refine Laser Cannons into Pulse Ammo. But apart from that Enkidoh is correct and he can ask the next question. :)

Also, you don't need the magazines to get weapon modifications, the mags just tell you what you need. If you have the items, you can mod your weapons at any time.

Enkidoh
03-25-2011, 06:23 AM

as no-one has answered this in like 3 weeks, i think its safe to say no-one knows Enkidoh lol, mind giving us the answer?

meanwhile I'll ask a question just to keep the topic going...

What is the first ever instance of an enemy using the spell 'Aura' ?

Enkidoh
04-14-2011, 04:52 PM
Sure. To be honest, I completely forgot about it anyway. :p

The answer was all you get for saving the kid from being run over by a train is you get a free stay at the Timber Inn, plus Squall's heroic actions are immortalized in an online news flash.

As for your question 7alentine, I remember vaguely first being able to draw it around the time I visited Trabia Garden for the first time, but I can't remember what enemy I drew it from. So I have no idea.

According to Final Fantasy Wiki, high-level T-Rexaur does have Quake.

7alentine
04-20-2011, 03:01 AM
I was just grinding on them, from lvl 30+ they only have Firaga and Thundaga, you must steal and refine Dino Bones to get Quake.

Enkidoh
04-20-2011, 04:06 AM
Although the FF Wiki isn't always accurate though Agent, the official strategy guide indeed lists Quake under the T-Rexaur's spell list for level 30-100, so it's possible. But anyway.

Answering Meltigemini's question, Laguna can fight the following enemies in his various sections of the game:

Fungaar
Geezard
Esthar Soldier (both human and cyborg versions)
Gesper
Elastoid
Caterchipillar
Bite Bug
Ruby Dragon
GIM52A

I think that's all of them (but there might be one or two that I missed).

No problem, I think in hindsight I'd confused the GIM52A with the Estharian Gesper (they're both robots used by enemy soldiers), even though I'd also mentioned the Gesper anyway. :p

I meant to say what actually happens when you try to avoid the guards on the Presidential train, hoping someone would actually realize I'm being a smart ass and that it's a trick question. ;)

Johnny's answer is what the Forest Owls tell you is the correct method for avoiding the guards, but in actuality, when you try doing that complex strategy, the guards on the train belatedly discover their supposedly hi-tech sensors aren't working! Meaning you can just run across the roof at your leisure regardless (I always ran across the roof anyway immediately, and always managed to reach the next screen before the guards had even appeared at the window so it's a moot point).

Anyway, I'm sorry for the confusion - you basically got it Johnny so it's your go. :D

Enkidoh - you just taught me something - I never knew that either! I always just ran across that part myself, before they ever had time to actually activate anything. LOL. That might be fun to try sometime, just to see that. And just when you think you've discovered all the little secrets like that...

Hehe, the only reason I even knew about it in the first place was that it's mentioned in the Brady guide book, and that they even mention not to bother with the Forest Owls' strategy. But yeah, I normally just floored it myself anyway across there. :p

How much HP does the alien PuPu have when you encounter it at the end of the UFO quest, and what do you get for defeating it?

it has 10hp, regardless of level

two ways to defeat it; give it 5 elixirs - receive the 'PuPu' card / attack and defeat it - receive 'Jet Engine'

Yup, that's correct. (although the guide book states you get an Accelerator upon physically defeating PuPu rather than a Jet Engine, but I never killed it, instead completing the quest properly so I have no idea which is true - I'll still give you the next question anyway 7alentine :D).

Anyway, your go. :D
