Oh yeah those kicks. Myosuke's "KILLER MACHINE" has that same style as "Atomic Storm (DJ Myosuke Remix) from X-RETURNS that's why its so cool. I still think Atomic Storm is one his absolute BEST song.

@Jyasuten, I didn't know Genki did stuff for a band but I thought it was cool to see him do a metal track in a Tano*C album, especially since the first time I heard it was in DOLCE's mix which made it more epic. I know a lot of these artists have musical talent beyond just the realm of their "preferred" electronic music and genres, so it's cool to hear them do vastly different musical styles too.

Orchestra w/ arrangements. Its beautiful hearing skilled musicians retouching those lovely melodies with their hand-played instruments. Age of Empires III and CIVILIZATION IV have a special place in my heart.

Yeah like I mentioned. I'm curious to see if they'll be releasing their versions of some of yuppe's older vocaloid tracks. I know they performed some of them live, but usually don't see that happen. To be honest though, don't expect it to last too long...yuppe's bands/side projects tend to be very short lived. His previous one My Eggplant Died Yesterday released a 3 track ep and a live DVD and that was it. They also covered a bunch of his older vocaloid tracks only one or two actually saw release. One before that, Lunetia, had 2 full albums and was my personal favorite. If Grilled Meat Young Mans do have a full length album coming this year, I wouldn't be shocked if they suddenly vanish afterwards.


As for music I most listen to...mostly freeform, hard dance(hard trance, tech dance, hardstyle, etc), and uplifting trance. Though I listen to all sorts of stuff from metal to acoustic/folk. I visit Ektoplazm periodically as well, but mostly it's browsing soundcloud and getting recommendations from other artists I like. I've found some really great stuff lately thanks to doing that.
I still find TanoC to be greatly disappointing. I haven't really gotten into any of their albums since syndrome 5 which I absolutely loved. Hell even Genki's track on that is great.

Unreal 1, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and the first Deus Ex have like the greatest VGM OSTs I've heard by miles.
They've been my roots alongside psy-trance music.

It's ok, PARADISE BLUE is probably the best track on it. The Dragon songs are kind of disappointing though and the Second Heaven / Narcissus remixes make no sense.

What do you guys think of P*Light's newest stuff? He was one of my top artists for a while then I kinda lost some interest last year but his Breakin' and Bloomin' albums have my interest peaked again. His hardstyle track in Speed Ball Evo was cool too.

Pretty much the same here. The new tracks on Bloomin' are great and all the remixes on Breakin' are awesome. Pretty sad there wasn't a Double Universe extend, but Cosmic Around is really cool too.

Maybe (hoping) it will appear on a future Hommarju vs P*Light album under beatnation records? lol xD

Never liked P*Light's style, his Happy Hardcore never pops out to me except a few here and there (Not a hater). I absolutely love his song "Look up in the Sky" its one of his best works, especially since it used strings and that made me cheesed.

P*Light is mostly ok; TRIGGER HAPPY and caramel ribbon are extremely good. His IIDX debut song is pretty generic though (but then I find PENDUAL to be horrible)
The extended versions on the SDVX KAC OSTs are edits of already released longs plus a new one - Gott by Hommarju (because lol Hommarju doesn't release albums)

Agreed. I wasn't that into his Midsummer Dreamer EP or his last Hardcore Syndrome track and it seemed like he went MIA a bit last year but he's back with the style I love. Happynation 2 was great too even though he only had one track on there, the whole album has those upbeat vibes you expect from his label

It's hard to play favorites but Minamotoya, USAO, Shimamura and P*Light usually consistently make that melodic stuff I love the most

honestly the originals were better too, but it's nice to finally have instrumental version of lost key though

Are You Happy? and glitters are still some of my top j-core albums, I have memories of listening to those tracks on my iPod on rainy days in the city. Sweet and Sour is one of those tracks that don't get old and played out no matter how many times I listen to it. Happynation albums are top tier too.

P*Light??? he was never my precious cup of favorites, but he does have some awesome tracks, and some very boring ones. I am 50%/50% in liking/disliking his music.

I think P*Light has a lot of influence of the 90ts eurodance, same as me, because, I confess that the songs I like the most from him do have a very big vibe of the start of 90ts, be it in rhythm or those sampling voices he uses some times.
He is not someone I dislike at all. I see he has potential, but sometimes he seems inspired, other don't.

He's Chroma, another artist who made his way in high-level doujin circles thanks to SDVX. He was also on the "salvation by faith records" label too.
His style is chiptune (and I'd say he's very creative at that). He has released two albums in C87 throughout HEKATONCHEIR BEATS - 妄想探検記 and 全宇宙スッポコニャーゴ大戦争 (the latter more like a compilation with siromaru and other artists).

meh... i think Bloomin is better than Breakin but thats only because he re-released some good tracks like Look Up in the Sky and NINJA
imo his Speedball Evo track wasnt that great and was probably the least interesting track on there
im a huge fan of P*light and my favorite track is either NINJA or Poppin Shower, but yeah he's been losing my interest lately just like Genki and maybe even aran...

I havent listened to the first one yet, but Hardcore Life+ and Nothing Else will Stand were pretty good.
My only gripe is that the tracks are really "Hit or Miss" I either enjoy listening or skip it lol

White! USAO's been at the top of his game again while MNK's stuff could be better, but Black is also a pretty good album. Pulse is one of my favorite MNK tracks ever and the Nanashi remix has blown all other versions out of the water. And I loved Minamotoya's Pulse remix as well as the original. lapix's Contrast remix is really good too, the intro is really nice and calming. This album gets me pumped up when I'm going places.

edit: if Shimamura really does drop another solo album this is probably going to be another awesome year for the scene. also didn't the speed anime trance albums just recently end? i kinda consider those a part of the j-core "scene" even though they do their own thing

Rock the Party USAO edit is such an awesome song I cheese to the lyrics everytime.

Of all things good in the album I gotta say though that if USAO would have put invoker after MyStyle that would have been the greatest C87 moment (assuming Konami would have allowed him to put that song on the CD).

On the thing of BeatStream, it got two original songs today that are pretty nice (one by OSTER project).
Not one of the main BEMANI games for sure though, it's tiered alongside Dance Evolution and Future TomTom (the latter being absolutely dead even if Konami adds crossovers to it but nobody plays that shit).

As for DDR, it's mostly ignored but Konami has been recently giving some life to it with events - that brought more crossovers than original songs - but it's getting a Replicant D-Action sequel soon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlOWWslTHkc), same format with seven boss songs. I'm hopeful for some good songs.

TAG has been mostly busy with the new pop'n music game, while L.E.D. is sound directing IIDX alongside Nekomata. I hope the next IIDX has songs by Akira Complex, MNK, aran and lapix.


EDIT: Personal thing. Now looking back at myself's first posts in this thread where I dissed on SUPER AURA a bit, man what the hell I was thinking back then. Now it's an instant 10/10.

GUHROOVY'N in the Wild!

I should probably start listening to Uberserker more often all three GUHROOVY CD's were horrible. Where to begin,





Hardcore Life was the worst of the bunch. Nothing in that album was satisfying except KAMAITACHI and even then I was a bit iffy of a missing sample from the IIDX 14 GOLD version. 10/10 crap all of it. I feel like dropping this CD in the toilet I'm using right now.




Hardcore Life+ was such a wild album everything was so mediocre, clearly DJ Chucky's waaayy past his prime. Nothing memorable.




NOTHING ELSE WILL STAND on the other hand sets out to fix the GUHROOVY name as it does a mixed bag performance. 6am Tokyo Funky Town (feat. Akira Complex) was such a treat I'm labeling this as NU-STYLE DUB�BREAKS. Very solid performance from Chucky with the main composition and Akira for kicking it to high gear with that wobbling. Rock The Dancefloor (feat. DJKurara) is an unexpected FREEFORM SPEEDCORE track. This is the side I want GUHROOVY to stick taking risks and not playing it safe. The final high of this track finishes off so amazing its like it slaps you in the face with a classic hardcore slam. HYPE THE CORE (Extended Ver:2) is a good classic beatmania IIDX track kinda bouncy but it delivers. C.D.O.T. turns out to wild mainly because the shouts don't sound cool, it gets too crazy and annoying. Not a way to end but its in a better path than the other 2 previous releases, so the next release should be close to become a good album.


GUHROOVY disappoints but has left hope in the horizon, 2015 might be their start on the right path.

HARDCORE SYNERGY 2015 has begun announcing their lineup since weeks. aran is in the list!

i guess in some countries for some reason it has a bad image? but marijuana really is not a drug you "succumb" to because you're "unhappy", it's a social drug with no addictive properties that's less dangerous than both alcohol and cigarettes and is only illegal in japan because of laws imposed by the US in the 1950s, which were themselves based on existing laws in america that were only created to oppress black and poor people.
jet baron was a perfectly happy guy and a good friend who did nothing wrong aside from be an idiot not properly concealing his weed and doesn't deserve any of this :(

What do you guys think of the preview? l'm personally not that into the generic EDM build ups and drops crap, but l can dig the Yukacco track, and a select few other vocal stuff. l think the remix side is a lot more exciting than the original side, only cause there is more J-core in it. The Akira Complex remix track is sooooo crispy omg, and Hommarju's remix of Big Ship took in a really nice direction.

The album is going to own. I heard it on block fm radio some days ago and I'm really excited.
My favorites were definitely Programmed GAIA and the Lapix' remix. I'm On Fire, P*Light remix and Akira Complex remix are also great.

Wow that bad, I'm waiting on my copies to arrive to even listen to them. I will admit though its tracklist is mainly half remixes and really just 6 new songs not counting the intro.

Pretty terrible excuse to call it an album, feels more like a S2TB Files5: release. But to be fair I have to judge it properly when it arrives. I hate when an album I think should be stellar doesn't impress you, it definitely worries me.

Not bad but it's disappointing, or forgettable. Depends.

How can I say it
You listen to the album and it fails to leave the mark in a way that: "oh that's it, ok". It lacks soul: every song is of a different genre but it's done in a very forced and dissonant way: jump from EDM to rave, jump from rave to psytrance, jump from psytrance to hardstyle, jump from hardstyle to future bass. There are artists that do this really well (Camellia's and lapix's latest albums for example) but this is overexaggerated, I mean I could just get 10 random songs, put them together and call it an album and there you go you get Let's Do It Again.
It definitely feels like a typical Comiket Summer S2TB release, there wasn't much hype or talking about it unlike Let's Do It Now as far as original songs go (Let's Do It Again exists because someone wanted that it had to exist). The big part is the remix section this time.

Now as songs go, the album starts ok with the intro (this intro is really good) to Big Ship. Big Ship is like Ladies and Gentlemen x S2TB Gathering EP kors k + yukacco song. Nothing offensive there. And this was the UK/J-Hardcore part.
EDM part: TOKYO. Typical GAT track, nowhere near as inventive as Shibuya Jungle.
Rave part: I'm On Fire. The strongest of the original tracks. It's a sequel to Playing With Fire, begins like every recent L.E.D. boss song ever but it's pretty fucking intense when the vocal samples come. Also unlike Playing With Fire full ver it doesn't sound like a cheap extend and it's mastered decently. I'd be really ok with this being a boss song for IIDX (IIDX 23, surely not PENDULL which is undeserving of good songs).
Psy-trance part: Programmed GAIA. Was this done with just Gaia sh-01 synthesizer? His weakest psy-trance song, sounds like he struggled to do it because it's way too minimalistic in a perplexing way. And this is the same guy who did Chokakku Space Drive and Dot.
Hardstyle part: the kors k vs Ryu song. kors k and Ryu pretend being the new Massive New Krew and make a 100% filler track with just a hardstyle kick being heard all over and call it the second coming of Christ. And it's astronomically bad.
Future bass part: Weekend. This is honestly not my kind of tea but it's overall a very ok track. Vocalist sucks though.
New Lights Extended: something is strange with this one. I listen to it and forget how it sounds like quickly afterwards (honest opinion: it adds nothing to the IIDX version of the song and it's longer than necessary).

Now on the remix side. I'll start out saying that the Ryu remix of On My Wings is basically Line 4 Ruin's main synths copy-pasted all over it; it sounds squeaky-awful and Ryu did nothing else other than that. When you begin to listen lapix's and Akira Complex's stuff, Ryu's remix quickly becomes child's play in comparison.
The Hommarju remix is also useless. Now I always said that I really like Hommarju's stuff but when it comes to remixing he's one counter-cocks artist. Big Ship Hommarju remix is so similar to the original that it's entirely worth paperweight. It's also worse than the original.
P*Light remix is a full upgrade to Ultra Hardcore, it's cool. Camellia remix has a problem: it starts after 2 MINUTES OF NOTHING.

If anything, this album serves as a launcher for lapix and Akira Complex to the audience. Akira Complex improved really fast, lapix is the new big thing.

Vulkan is experimental, I actually enjoyed it has a t-pazolite+ style with a bass riff like his scary "Alive" from Speedball GT, but polka style. No tears is another concoction soup it part J-Pop song at first, but then a basscore background starts banging, big surprise there. So instead of Hard EDM it should be more like "GabbaPop" or "PopCore" lol.

I didn't know about this either; apparently it was mostly ignored by police and citizens alike, though it was enforced enough to pose a threat to the electronic music industry there. Anyway, it was apparently repealed late last year at long last.

Well yeah Shimamura was trying to broad his audience. Though Get Up!! is still pretty dang good, reminds me of 2008 kors k stuff when MC KENT screaming on the microphone. I really like the album but it's overall a bit weak compared to his previous ones.

I thought FENIX was really good, definitely not too much like his old stuff, but it was still really amazing. will never Die (FENIX VIP) was honestly the one of my favorite songs on the album. Junkie Vinyl was also really good.

Gotta respect Shimamura for trying to reach a broader audience. It still had a classic feel to a lot of the songs even though he tried to make it more 'electronic?'

Maddest Circus Show also didn't impress me very much. Irregular Nation was really really good though.

Yeah in my opinion Shimmy genuinely put a lot of effort into the songs and he has done a really good job hyping up the album's release by gradually revealing each track during the whole month. I really wish more people would reveal their releases in this way instead of a one-day big news drop.
Also yeah, the NO+CHIN track is a blast.

Was a bit downed by Victoria (I guess I expected too much out of this song, thought it was another Smack My Rave) and TOKYO 300 could have been done better, like being a DDR boss song wannabe a la MAX300 lol.

I like lawy works a lot, A LOT. I find him just like Hommarju. Both have potential but are not much "understood".

CandyStar and Hybrid Monster sound p. good from the xfades. That Chroma dude's chiptune track in CandyStar sounds just as epic as his HappyNation 02 song. Definitely want to hear FENIX. Shimamura's contribution to Hybrid Monsters sounds like the kind of good stuff you expect from him. He's also been more involved in the UK hardcore scene lately, being one of the star DJ's in an upcoming Hardcore Underground album.

Barely previewed the Tano*C album, but it sounds like they're doing EDM and trap stuff? Don't want to rush to judgement without actually listening to it, but I'm usually not into all that stuff

There's a really cool downtempo track in the second half (really great imo), plus two trance songs, a psy song and a NuDisco one. The variety is definitiely there. Honestly it's cool because finally they went out of that SYNDROME/SPEEDBALL/BRIGHTCOLORS/REMIXES cycle that has been going for too long.
TBH I'd go as far as saying that USAO's track was much more fun than anything on Visitors 2.

Thanks for the uploads. Is the pause in the first track of Absolute (~00:08) part of the song? There are no other pauses like that in the song so it's kind of strange. Track 7 has a pause too around 20 secs. Track 9 around 20 secs too. Track 10 around 27 secs. Maybe your disc is scratched / dirty.

"Gambler" is right. that pause cut of the "hype" I had with that kobary and srezcat track

currently exporting whatever i recorded ~7hours
thing is the stream was terrible and juttering for about half of Genki's set then the stream died and we only really got the last 5 minutes of Genki's set :(
so what ill upload is really only those last 3-5 minutes of genki up until the very end where they basically played whatever they wanted because almost everybody left lol
but yeah, overall really disappointed with this, everyone EVEN T+PAZ PLAYED BIG ROOM HOUSE AND TRAP
the only sets that were good were MNK and DJ Kagamine(best set in the entire stream), aran's set was average, and the rest is what i just described in the line above
(t+paz did play a few good songs at the end of his set tho, and taku played like 3 hardcore songs at least)
but yeah ill try my best uploading this 4GB monster (audio only)

The organizers yesterday did say they weren't sure how Synergy would have went so I kinda expected something to go wrong. The fire alarm thing was apparently a legit issue though.
