imo the Hardcore Syndrome series never really was a testing grounds for new stuff (from HS3 and onwards everyone pretty much found their style), but more of a showcase of the TANO*C crew doing their thing. Sure there were a few great surprises here and there (i.e. Back on Fear), but most of their more different or "out there" tracks have been on the winter releases. (see: TANO*C Remixes, Speedballs, Bright Colors) I agree that HS5 is the best Syndrome release to date, but that doesn't mean that everything after it is shit.Get real bro, you know what they are capable of, don't be sucking dicks saying 'its great' when its not ; they all have great talent they're just being lazy.

I'm not sure how you first encountered kors k work but in my case it was from the teranoid days and his gabba-hardcore breaks are what set him apart from everyone else in the scene. He used that same talent in the bemani songs featured in Ways For Liberation. I don't think its his best work but it has so many 'important' songs that represent who he is. He's still taking risks, don't give that BS "Insane Techniques" is proof of that.

Noriken does only temporarily jump on the EDM bandwagon. kors k has literally jumped on it.
Ways For Liberation has pretty much nothing of mainstream (and it's not a doujin release, it's from Konami); now Let's Do It Now!! is intentionally mainstream EDM. Insane Techniques is the most boring hi-tech track I've ever heard.

Also if there's a guy who likes to take risks that's Hommarju. There are only few genres he hasn't touched yet.

I think everyone is misinterpreting something. By kors k's "first" album I am referring to "Let's Do It Now!". I love Ways For Liberation and am making note how he basically disregarded that in favour of this new EDM-centric album.

keep in mind Lets Do It Now is said to be his first MAJOR album. Konami only sold his CDs online and in very limited physical amounts. and anything by S2TB is Comiket/M3 stuff.

Lets do it now is "MAJOR first album" as in it's released by exit tunes, as in released by pony canyon, as in released in every corner of Japan. So of course he's gonna be on the EDM train. He's appealing to an entirely different mass, not just whatever konami decides for him and what he feels like releasing.

and if you wanted to be technical anyways his first "real" album is Disconation, 2004 S2TB.


Besides he made very generic club (what would be considered EDM trash for the time) in IIDX 4th style (See: Clione) and it was basic dutch hands in the air trance and he continued that up until RED. His upbringing into popularity with IIDX and doujin music in general was his take on very generic music for the times he was in.

I have no problems with IT long version.
Mostly because I didn't like the short ver to begin with. People like lapix and Camellia do much better with hi-tech and kors k's own Dot was overall better
Monkey Business got ruined hard on S2TB Files3 but that album was so horrible

It really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, hell I even ENJOYED a REDALiCE track! What!? That hasnt happened since, well HS5 xD

I didnt really enjoy the gabber/mainstream hardcore tracks, which is really weird because I usually go crazy with those... except Roughsketch, that was pretty good... but only because it reminds me on nnn's track Dominate

hell even aran wasnt so great, im more hyped for his next Otographic release, Golden Yellow

If I have to compare it to the others I'd say It wasnt as horrible as 7, but not as great as 6! Though 6 wasnt too immpressive either...

I actually really dont like 7, the only good track on there is aran's. Graces of Heaven is TANO*C gold

Yeah I guess, you're right. I almost never jump against recent Comiket/M3 releases (well sometimes I do, see above) because that's not my style, things sell well and each release has always one track I really enjoy. These months have been sorta really crappy and nervous-inducing but this Comiket event sort of inverted my mood to the good side.

I'm only waiting the day Noizenecio's album is out. He's currently my all-time favorite JPN artist and I hope he considers a good selling method for overseas people (from what I know SOLIDBOX stuff aren't sold on Diverse and no I don't want to be forced onto jcore.biz)

You gotta reach Scar Of The Night, it's badass. Definitely my fav C86 song.

My fav comp is HYPER WAVE !!, it fucking rules even if there's too much Hardstyle.
My fav solo album is OLD HEAVEN followed by Noriken's #FTW. Can't wait for Camellia's one.
Mind you, I've yet to listen to a lot of stuff like nadeco's album, been stuck going to beach, listening to USAO's Loss Time and playing Deus Ex HR again.

I was actually quite impressed by HS8, significantly more so than with HS6 and HS7. (I agree with Orie that Speedball GT and Remixes 3 were the high points in the past couple years.) I don't know non-Japanese electronic music well enough to know if they're going too mainstream or not, so that isn't a factor for me. My favorite track was REDALiCE's this time around! Very catchy, fun, and clean-sounding, just what I like from REDALiCE. I liked kenta's a lot too; it's nice to see another "atmospheric" track from him like iNstiNct boostEr or his WAZA remix (though i stiLL LikE iNstiNct boostEr thE most). Shame about the "truck" thing, but it's not a huge deal. Really, though, I felt every track on there had merit, which I wouldn't say for the previous two Syndromes. Looks like the blue ones continue to be my faves! Just my opinion, though!

Ive come to severely detest nustyle over the years because living near hollywood, the rave scene is very fast paced in evolving, and nustyle hardstyle quickly became the "H4RD STYLE OR NO STYLE" "HARDSTYLE IS A LIFESTYLE"
((((wears reflective pants with suspended and 400 dollar PHD jackets even though that club hasn't had any significant meaning since like 2008.

I dig hardstyle, I always have, but to give an idea I basically stopped liking hardstyle after 2008 (Hardbass chapter 15 for you Germans) where it went from a reverse kick and clever resampling to angry rubber band snapping as kicks and slapping a metal pipe, following a very MOH anthem build up. Which is dumb, I wanna dance, not a 2 minute speech from a move voice over. ((Coons Words From The Gang is the almighty exception))

Favorite track is probably Old is Gold, but that's because I'm in love with aran and almost anything he puts out.
It's So Buggy is pretty nice but like someone said earlier it's missing something, but still enjoyable either way.
Move!! is good, but as the starting track it didn't give me too much hype for the rest of the album.
Hectic, do like.
Loss Time, USAO never fails to impress me. When I first heard him in HS2 he became one of my favorites in TANO*C.
The rest are pretty decent, but these 5 are my picks from HS8.
Definitely wasn't as impressive as some of the past ones, but that isn't to say that there's such thing as a bad Tano*C album. At least, not to me.

I'm personally okay with the artists trying out different styles and genres because I'm okay with any style of music. Wouldn't make me stop being a fan.

Also, been listening to TANO*C since like... 2007. Only these days I started checking out different labels from the artists within Tano*C.

I miss Noriken's old, old style a la CORE X SKETCH, SKETCH BOOK! Anthology and glitters. His stuff as of recent years has lost a lot of the unique sound he once had. Every now and then he'll come out with something like Black Cat in the Rain that kicks ass, but most of it is pretty meh at this point. On that same note, REDALiCE's CRIMSON HARDCORE is one of his best works and so unlike anything he's done lately. Fucking Touhou =/

This! I was about to post the same thing actually. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I could always count on Tano*C releases to be top notch but IMO Bright Colors 2 wasn't that great and I'm not digging that many of this year's releases. Hyper Wave is ok but IMO not nearly as good as Super Sonic. I like the cheesy, upbeat melodic stuff but now it seems like a lot of j-core artists are doing the generic dubcore and club EDM crap that infested the UK hardcore scene. Last year's releases were still mostly awesome though. (Happynation, Super Sonic!!, P*Light and Noriken stuff, I liked HS7 and a lot of the MNK releases)

Minamotoya's releases have still been good though. Operation Unrestricted 1st mov is probably my favorite album release this year. I should give props to Shimamura too, he and Jakazid were the first DJ's that got me into j-core from the UK Hardcore scene, and his tracks still tend to be top quality

Btw whatever happened to the Hocchi Pocchi 4beat albums? That's the kinda cheesy upbeat stuff I want more of. Remixes of anime and game music are always fun. Also a new Kicks for Liberation with hands up-inspired Nanashi tracks plz.

I love you Orie, but I hate you for saying that. UN1TE is amazing. Sure, dat engrish. Sure, YUC'e isn't the best vocalist out there. Sure, it's THAT chord progression again. But it's still beautiful, uplifting, Massive New Krew hardstyle. Each to their own, but this is MY favourite track from HS8, and I won't agree to any baseless criticisms of it.

tl;dr HS8 is still good even if it didn't innovate, EDM-influences in the scene are interesting but cancerous in the long run and UN1TE is fucking beautiful.

I gotta say, Distortion Girl is a really good song. it's got that unique REDALiCE sound and is reminiscent of Crimson Hardcore and REDALiCE's best Tano*C releases. He's probably one of my favorite producers but I don't know why he spends so much time on the Touhou stuff when his original works are so much better.

I've been working on this mix for the past week, finally finished today and it's been exactly a fortnight since C86. Go figure.

This is meant to be my "best of" or "sampler" mix of all the J-Core from C86 (even though there's a disproportionate amount of #From_Ten_Wonderland and Hardcore Syndrome 8 tracks).

There are parts where the mix gets pretty dense, so apologies in advance if one of your favourite tracks only got played for a bit. I was aiming to keep this to an hour, but it still went longer than I hoped.

If you like it, share it with a friend. It would mean a lot to me. I had a lot of fun putting this together and I hope everyone has as much fun listening.

Got a question hopefully someone can answer!
So I got some CDs in my collection that iv'e been wanting to rip BUT my laptop doesnt read them, all of them are singles or EPs that look similar to this:

Basically It's only the inner circle in the CD that has the music files, the rest is see though plastic, which i guess is why my laptop cant read it,

SO does anyone know what I can use to rip these kinds of CDs??? It's been driving me crazy! Any help is appreciated, thanks!

If its just the inner part with the data I'm guessing it reads like a Mini CD so perhaps you don't have the correct drivers for your optical drive to read them.

I'm not really an expert but that's my suggestion: search around for Mini CD drivers.

Really hope you can get this working though, been wanting Battle Line for a quite a while :D

your cd-rom driver most likely is not inserting the cd well enough. Which results in damaging it a bit.

Yeah, it's read like a mini CD, I'm not sure I've never had an issue ripping those.

Nah I meant if Noizenecio's album would be sold throughout non JPN only stores, I suppose Notebook Records' shop will likely stock it but I'm not sure (of the whole SOLIDBOX label only Unprepareness is being sold on the store).

TANO*C has always been Japan-only but I don't know if they can make random exceptions. I never heard nice things about guhroovy's shipping services, some people I know who ordered stuff from there just ended up with broken CDs but that was years ago.

l've always wondered this too; but maybe someone somewhere will get the lyrics down one day for a lot of J-core tracks.
As far as l know, the only lyrics for songs that exist are in sound descriptions on Soundcloud; such as On the beat by kors k and Yukacco.

I finally got a hold on a copy of Magwary! :) I talked to Mass Kaneko months ago on Twitter to sell me a copy but was stringent on shipping one as it was an event only release. I was frustrated as it was not sold on any doujin shop.

As its such a good PsyTrance album (if not the best since SUPER AURA), I could not give up on hope. So later I contacted him months later if he was still willing to sell copies but this time at a local doujin shop. After suggesting Diverse Direct, since it shipped internationally, he agreed to sell them there.

Happy with his decision, I ordered for the first time using Diverse Direct and snagged a copy before it goes out of print. I waited for the packaged thinking it was EMS but turned out to be Registered SAL which is okay but I would thought at that price EMS seemed the better option. Well it arrived in a simple bubble wrap and looks amazing.


So in a few words Diverse Direct is safe and has decent shipping. Regarding the album Magwary, pick up a copy its 'real' Psychedelic Trance and its damn good.

Hello guys. I have been busy with lots of stuff. I have been translating, localizing and subbing Old Anime movies and OVA series from the 70ts to 90ts to my mother language, Portuguese.
I am a part of this Fansub group (http://www.projectosoldschool.com/). Call Me tonight was my first work. Been working in 2 other. We aim for very unknown and underground anime stuff and make known actual good anime works.

Another project was a Martial Art Action Flick filmed between friends. Its an Amateur movie, in which is still private due to some members not wanting to be exposed. This was a movie directed and produced between friends, just for fun. I did the martial arts and the plot together with my friend Tina. We both produced the movie and had a bit of our hands in the direction, but only for support.
I also did the soundtrack. Not really, I used , guess what.... J-CORE xD.
The movie is called "CITY", and its 1hour and 10 minutes and it's in real time nonstop action. Pretty much on the same idea as the TV show "24". The movie timeline is really going about 1h:10mn.
It's about 2 police teams that went on a raid on their specific criminal investigations, ending up in a trap set by the BOSS of those the 2 investigated criminal gangs. After that is an all out surviving.
The 2 teams meet up eventually for the final scene, but meanwhile they are getting together and split all over again.
There were no Stunts. We were all Stunts doing everything, including a car chase in which we changed from car to car while driving and fighting at the same time. Its was insane and crazy to do it.

The soundtrack , as I said I used some recent releases of mainstream hardcore and speedcore. when the beat get's speedy, a martial art fight is going to take place in fast moments.
Much of the effects are used for specific scenes and camera angles and characters feelings. Some choreographed fight was changed to fit the beat of some tunes, so we had to re-film some parts again, just for that.
I am sharing the "Set" I produced for this movie, as a Set and with split tracks named to where the tracks belong to which scenes. Pianoid's track when it enters it switches back to DJ Myosuke track many times, as that is the only comic mood in the movie and a very funny thing is happening in it, and it's mixing the serious situation

We are debating of finishing the trilogy: CITY, VILLAGE, MANSION.
Between friends we all laughed with the fact that those words made us think of Resident evil. XD The plot goes from the CITY, to continue to hit down the real brain Criminal of the CITY, the BOSS, and the VILLAGE is where the BOSS is doing his "Black Market" thing for various criminals. And the Mansion is where he lives. That will pretty much be the movie with crazy ass Martial Art fighting, at least as we want. But will most likely be made for next year for sure, because now, we are all working. So no time for the fun again.
This was just made for fun, between friends, though it would be cool to show you guys the end result. :)

If you're using Firefox click on this little lock in your adress bar (it's a globe on non-https sites):

In fact all the "Japanese Stream Hardcore Vol.4" was not good at all. I did not enjoyed it as much as 3 vols, and the third volume was already a stretch for me to like ti.
The only tracks I like in VOL.4 are:

Kobaryo -Clock Control
6th - Down to Reality
DJ Noriken - Innocence
DJ FALCHiON - KAMIKAKUSHI
kenta-v.ez. - Eb2
Noizenecio - Shadows

and I have to stretch a bit the fire light for RoughSketch's track, because I like some parts, but it is not really my favorite and I don't listen it ... much.

Tano C will totally fall into the lame phase. since ULTRA festival made it to Japan and the major labels like AVEX and FARM are switching to EDM and the overall population market is moving towards generic big room/electro/nustyle hardstyle. I see it shifting over gradually.

Haha well that's fair; JSH4 is just like the other JSH albums that I could listen from start to end straight. It's pretty much everything I want from a mainstream hardcore based disc.

It's kinda like you don't like TECHNORCH that much while I find all of his stuff totally amazing :p (ok well he was the first doujin artist I knew before B&B)

If you're using Firefox click on this little lock in your adress bar (it's a globe on non-https sites):

Then click on "more information". A new window opens and you go to the "Media" tab. Search for the album cover there. This is the link to the Solidcore cover:

Use Chrome's Inspect Element tool.

Right click on the soundcloud image in question, and the Inspect Element will directly highlight a "< div class="image readONLY.........height: 100%; width: 100%;" >".

Expand this class (click on the arrow next to "div class", it points to the right) and you'll open a "span style" string which contains the url to the image in brackets.

I'll post a screenshot if you need additional help on the matter, if you want.

DJ DEPATH & M-Project - Return To Zero is the best single I have heard so far. I can easily listen this cd countless times, not only because the song is good, but the remixes are very different from the original source, giving a better listening experience. I admit. I prefer singles with less remixes, and good, then singles with lots of remixes, and ending in tragedy. :/

Is it just me, or the fact we have 2 tracks from Le Dos-on and the current album line-out seems Solidcore is loosing something just like Hukagyaku Hardcore?

I think this might be my favorite Solidcore album ever. Tha Kobaryu Track. I ripped from soundcloudd and had it in my winamp repeating it... over and over again.

For some of us, most likely, Noizenecio solo album is a shout of "ALELUIA". About time he does it. Was expecting it a lot sooner. And "Atomic Storm" is in it... oooh my god! *eargasm again*

Camellia is my god. He never fails to deliver. Out of all the M3 releases announced this one as a whole is by far the most interesting. Food inspired music? Genius. Even if most of the tracks don't necessarily evoke the feeling of the food they were inspired by, they're still great.

Also dat Ryunosuke Kudo track. Indian curry -> Hi-speed Trap seems wack but it's actually works really well. At first I was like LOL WTF IS THIS but then I was like dayum this bangin, dem indian vibes.

The other are just meh, Melancholia was meh, and No Fear, No Despair, With All My Hearts was meh, like seriously tho, my expectations were super high with Xystran because of 終焉的朗徹速核曲 (which came out on 600 over) and I was kinda let down...

Not a PFR expert here or something but I think the BPM-based releases are just too forced. What was the average BPM of other releases?
600 bpm splittercore was already cutting it enough and anything higher than is going to be kind of dumb. A jump from 666 to 1000 bpm won't probably happen soon (at this pace), if it will ever happen.

I feel like aran kinda found a style that he's not willing to branch out of, whereas in Desktop Universe he was still experimenting a bit, which was when I became a total fanboy. I think hes inching more toward deep/progressive house now
