I do.
I got the Off World disc the week it came out, know the guy who did the Gongo version (I had a boxful of those), and I've worked on quite a few credits on scores myself.
I have all the BR related releases worth having.

My point is that a CD (CDR?) cover saying "1982 recordings" most likely means just that. Just like the Off World etc etc versions are 1982 recordings.
The statement doesn't mean that it's some "lost" material that didn't make it to the movie.

Btw, the movie was released in June 1982 so it's possible that some of the music was recorded in 1981 (just a anal little detail), though I don't know how much the movie spent in post - quite often a score is written and recorded in the last dew weeks of post.

Recording the score, London, 1982

After the completion of Blade Runner’s principal filming in Los Angeles, in the summer of 1981, the film’s post-production phase moved to London, where it was to be assembled and sound dubbed. Film director Ridley Scott, along with his film-editor Terry Rawlings, began to put together a rough cut of the film. Rawlings began to use a temp score to put music to the images. The rough cut of the film with the temp score gave a flavour of the type of mood Scott might have wanted, and allowed them to view an assembled film put together from all the cut scenes in chronological order.
Vangelis was approached to discuss the possibility of providing the film score for Blade Runner and was invited to a private view of the film on a cinema screen at Pinewood Studios. In December 1981, after fruitful discussions, Vangelis was signed up to work on the film.

Vangelis finished Blade Runner’s musical score around April 1982. The film’s post-production and editing continued for a few more weeks before the film opened in UK cinemas on 9 September 1982.

But let's wait for a rip of the cd in question to answer that. :)

If you still have it might we ask a scan of the artworks? We only have a low quality version...

From IMDB Untitled Blade Runner Project - Casting: Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, & Carla Juri are the possibilities! I think Robin Wright & Hiam Abbass are a bit too old for the niece part, IMO ? Paris Hilton has had more than her 15 minutes of fame, so not a chance, LOL!

I agree. Ridley Scott is producing, the original screenwriters did the sequel's script and the world Dick and Scott created is thick with possibilities and additional stories to tell. Plus you have Harrison Ford returning, Ryan Gosling joined the cast so let's give it a chance.

If it works great and if not, the sequel won't diminish the original.

I agree. It might seem crazy, but I still enjoyed Tron Legacy, only and simply because of the visual marvel and the score. But with Villeneuve, Deakins, Ford, Gosling, the original screenwriter and the production (thanksfully!) of Scott, I believe we're going to expect a masterclass movie.
My only worry is the composer. Vangelis is still alive and active, but I'm not sure if he's going to join the production.
I might expect Jhann Jhannsson to score the movie, since he worked with Villeneuve in three of his recent movies (gaining also an Oscar nom with "Sicario").

I'm not sure but this track is possibly sampled or inspired by Vangelis's music. Give it a listen. See the link below. While on the subject can anyone give links that are possibly direct samples or inspired by Vangelis's music ? I've noticed quite a lot of these examples through the years and interested what you have to say. Thank you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4nCU3Bb1hQ

Incidentally I am having a couple of albums by the artist in the link you posted.

Half of the old school house and trance scene was influenced by Vangelis as a matter of fact.
I still remember reading about that in the old "Ministry Of Sound" and "Musik" magazines.
The best example that springs to mind is the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OydEaJQ67o

Plenty of artists have sampled lines of Blade Runner or music from the movie in their productions.
Someone who was definitely inspired by Vangelis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8Nqp1E3Uhc
and also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWqjgYDU7bM.
Both remind me of an ideal continuum to Rachael's Song.

But the list will really go on for a while.

A while ago we had started a Blade Runner related music collection of inspired music... I lost count of how many versions there were on that.
The idea was even incorporate into Disc 6 of The Esper Retirement at some point... but that you might already know I'm guessing. :)

Respectfully I can't see any relation to Vangelis in the first link apart from the descending notes. The second and third link maybe related to Vangelis's football theme he did some time ago. I'm meaning direct relations to his music. Subtle samples even. For example. If you listen to L'Apocalypse D'es Animaux - Le Singe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwAop6MVxa4 you'll hear copied variations in film music. Withnail and I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxCFZ0ZZGb0
Rocky theme.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhlPAj38rHc
There are more examples. Obvious copies.

I was referring to those descending notes in effect. :)
But what I was intending was the relationship "past" that direct relationship you were referring to.

The cues you have pointed out do indeed have a relation to Vangelis music. Plenty of music borrows something off his compositions obviously.
That field is less explored perhaps. At least for me.
For example I did not even know about "Withnail And I"... thanks for the tip! :)

I would assemble a compilation (or a list) out of those direct relations. ;)

It has been that Jhannsson is the composer for the Blade Runner sequel. http://www.slashfilm.com/blade-runner-2-score-johann-johannsson/

So it's not going to be "him"... and that's something I'd rather have known "after" my funeral... :(

Yep. We all are well aware of that. But only when you happen to visit sites you cannot really trust.

For example if I am looking for a picture of Kim Kardashian I am not going to a site advertising a full set at a clothing-optional beach... I'll just pop into her Facebook page...

Well... I trust you got the message about sites not to visit. :)

We all trust Mega as a matter of fact... and if we are safe you can safely assume you will be as well. Unless you have something in your computer that might trigger an attack... but that is a different matter.
Both Avira or AVG will have a cure for that.

This is incorrect. There have been many recent tech articles about trusted sites that have been infected with flash advertisements. The sites may be legitimate, but the ads they throw up at you may still pose a security risk, a virus, even a dreaded ransomware infection. See here :

http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/03/big-name-sites-hit-by-rash-of-malicious-ads-spreading-crypto-ransomware/

"Mainstream websites, including those published by The New York Times, the BBC, MSN, and AOL, are falling victim to a new rash of malicious ads that attempt to surreptitiously install crypto ransomware and other malware on the computers of unsuspecting visitors, security firms warned."

Thank you _kaplan_ for the upload!

We all trust Mega as a matter of fact....

Pretty much all of this. I trust Mega because it's safe and fast for me (then again, I'm using a combination uBlock Origin, Avast, and Malwarebytes to stay on the safe side of things). It's a lot better than Nitroflare and Uploaded because both of those sites are very slow to download one file at a time (at least for me). I just wish all sites makes the transition to Mega, to be honest but that's just me.

Yes. You are correct in referring to those risks. But Mega was never mentioned on those tech articles.
And that is what I was referring to.
Otherwise the thread would have triggered dozen of reports about the matter.
Mega is currently being smart enough to cut the risks avoiding ads that might be the trigger of those infections.

Of course you will have to stay on the safe side of things using a good antivirus or a combination of everything else as it was pointed out.

Faster way will be either use Medieval CUE Splitter (http://www.medieval.it/cuesplitter-pc/menu-id-71.html) or CUETools (http://cue.tools/wiki/CUETools_Download)
I personally prefer the latter but it might be a bit harder to figure out perhaps.
When using the former always tick both the Add gaps and Invert gaps options if you do not want to get rid of some minor silence bits!

Also EAC (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) does that pretty well anyway. Better than both perhaps... or at least as good and proper as CUETools (http://cue.tools/wiki/CUETools_Download) as a matter of fact.
Not that easy to set up when compared to the ease of use of the latter anyway.

Or you can just get the same tracks off the Gongo... and that will be it... minor some added silence... more or less! :)

Hey jethrotull - I had a listen last night and found it overall a nice listen. To be critical, I did not like the abrupt ending and beginnings to each track. I would like to hear a fade out and in to each track, or the whole thing should be 1 track. It seemed that the cuts at the end of each track was a second or two too soon. Sarcofigas = Sarcophagus? Templicant? - Was wondering the meaning of that title? However, overall a good job!

Hello
This mix was put together by my brother, so I'm not sure what the titles mean I guess he may have had a typo on one or two:( Anyway my mp3 player puts gaps between songs regardless so I can't remember if the CD he made faded them together originally. I just posted so I at least could share something that was not exactly the same as compilations shared already. I think the dialogue was fished out of deleted scenes, as I'm sure is easily spotted. Glad u liked it to a degree ;) very nice cover BTW! :)

I can only believe that Vangelis wanting nothing to do with the sequel is the smartest thing he could possibly do.

Probably it's not the best thing Vangelis could do, but IMHO it's the best thing the director Denis Villeneuve could do. Vangelis is almost out of business, and Jhann Jhannsson worked with the director on three movies already, and it worked out really well. Keep the director-composer duo as long as you can.

Will be interesting to hear what the music will be like... and what the movie will be like. If they dare step away too far from the the formula or if they stay close to what fans are expecting and wants. I'm not so sure of what I want. A continuation in the same beat/mood or something new entirely...

Blade Runner Mix (https://mega.nz/#F!tV9jQQqB!tFJpiRUAmshYzyzdLkubdg)

I am listening to it as I am writing.

I am a bit put off by the quality to tell the truth. I would encode a VBR0 out of the whole mix with a cue file added if you want to keep the size small (though I will personally go straight for a FLAC version).
The idea is ok. I like the "concept" but the presentation does not justice to the good work done so far.
As pointed out there are those gaps killing the mood of the mix.
Track 10 might be louder compared to the rest of the tracks. Tracks 05 has some glitches at the beginning and at around 50 sec. That needs to be fixed.
As it is you can safely turn the 4db of headroom into useful volume information getting a better depth of the music at the same time.
It can be presented better, and at a better quality.
A cover will also be appreciated though a joint venture with WillDekkard will produce the desired result as it seems! ;)
If you need help with the audio drop a PM. :)
Oh.. where's track 12? I seem to be missing that after the music has faded out. :)

OK - Medieval CUE Splitter, that was soooooo easy! I don't know why I haven't used this program till now? . . . ? Thanks again dadadacicici, you da man!

Do always keep the originals archives if space might not be a concern.
That particular software might drop some useful informations like pre-gaps when splitting! ;)

As long they make something different compared to last Star Wars episode in which I could figure out every other twist before it was going to happen... that will be a blessing for us all! Whatever it might be! :)

It is complete trash and hasn't been updated in years. Your split files will not be bit identical to the CD source. Those is most noticeable if you are splitting album long mixes. Medieval CUE Splitter will insert gaps between tracks, so where one tract seamlessly continues on with the next track, the gap Medieval CUE Splitter inserts will either result in a audible pop or a second silent break in the music. Use CUETools or Foobar2k to split cue images.

Thread 211108

That is very true if you are letting CUE Splitter do its math with pre-gaps and indexes.
That's why you should always tick both the Add gaps and Invert gaps options... and never work on compressed cdimages.
ALWAYS DECOMPRESS TO WAV FIRST.
Do your needed work and then re-compress if applicable.

If you follow this guidelines there will be no chances to have frames lost.
Only added to the previous track if you will be working on FLAC cdimages anyway.
And yes. The output frames might differ with Medieval CUE Splitter. But only if working with FLAC files and relying on RAM calculations that might lead to every kind of misinterpretation if your operative system decides to start a task in the backgroung.
AVG is a killer for example. Always disable it when working on audio.

It is not going to insert any gap unless you are doing something very wrong.
Like surfing the net while splitting up tracks or letting the computer perform other tasks at the same time for example.
But I trust that in not the case.

Also if your RAM is faulty you might get the problems you were pointing out.

I tend to use it on tape and vinyl transfer for example.
I never had a single problem with missing or added frames.
It is the only piece of software that will accept 24 or 32 bit input files at any resolution while CUETools or EAC will not accept those higher resolution files for example.
They are good with standard red book cd's, but useless for hi resolution audio.

It is pretty handy for everyday tasks... but I do agree on using CUETools EAC or Foobar2k if you want to do it properly.
They stopped developing it in 2011. But it was still sort of working fairly by that date.
Since the audio on cd's hasn't changed in 30 years... you might as well mess up with an outdated software without too many problems.

I personally prefer cdimages as opposed to separate tracks. That should be the way to backup collections in my opinion.

But I understand that other people might prefer other easier ways. :)

Here we go :)

Wou! It really looks like the original! ;)
Deckard was reading a newspaper.

A flying advert above his head was reciting: "A new life awaits you in the Off-World colonies. The chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure.

New climate, recreational facilities. Use your new friend as a personal body servant or a tireless field hand.

The custom tailored genetically engineered humanoid replicant designed especially for your needs. Absolutely free."

He wasn't hungry anymore when his noodles finally arrived.

"So come on America, lets put our team up there. Lets go to the Colonies! Make America great again!"

He has heard the ad countless times, but something in there was not right this time...

"This announcement has been brought to you by the Shimago-Trump Organization. Helping America into the New World."

"Wait, have I dreamt this before? How is that possible?" said the Blade Runner...

I think that track is from Vangelis The Bounty 1984 main titles, (12 points if you can identify the source of the "Batty" audio :) lol ) I will have to do some checking as to all the sources as I didn't mix it myself but Im pretty sure tracks from China and Antarctica are in there. If you were trying to upload a picture via the site it won't work.
You need to use an image hosting site like Photobucket ("http://photobucket.com) for example.
You might need to re-size the picture to make it more forum friendly of course.
379 pixels will usually do even if you can make it half the whole page if that is your wish!

Again, a very nice mix! It is going to be hard to top that I reckon. ;)

That's it! ;)

Also, if you want to have a deeper look at how formatting works in a given post for example, simply click on Reply With Quote then click again on Go Advanced.

Everything will be there in simple html code and you can see how things work from there.

You can insert a link and referencing a single word for example. That is done just using [ ] and / for example.

Just try things out hitting the Preview button to see if you got it right...

Of course do not click straight away Submit if you are not so sure! :)

There is also a nice interview to the person who wrote the article actually. It should be someplace here on the Blade Runner threads...

This threads have grown so big somehow... Not easy to dig out all the information needed sometimes... But they are there at least! :)

This thread goes on and on the length of The Bible. It would be nice if SOMEONE would just edit it down to a handful of good recordings with active download links since I doubt any of us will live long enough for Vangelis to put out a proper soundtrack after all these years. He isn't doing the new film, his music is interpolated for that teaser, but the new composer on the project has failed to impress me with his talent. No matter, no one is going to create music to compare to the original. That sad, lame attempt at a re-recording some years ago was such a disappointment... and yes, I know, there will be countless who loved it. There are always.

That sad, lame attempt at a re-recording some years ago was such a disappointment... and yes, I know, there will be countless who loved it. There are always.

I believe the first page should already serve that purpose.

I agree there are a lot of spin-off stray links on the rest of the pages perhaps... but there is also a lot to learn from what was posted along the links. That's why it grew so big.

I have learnt a lot from other people comments.

That's why sometime people should go down some pages to learn the backgrounds if they are more than interested.

The first page is the result of years of stumbling stubbornly on the same fixed idea.
What can be grabbed single-handled on the first page took most of us years to gather.

I understand it might be frustrating to dig out informations at times... but that is also because there is really a lot of infos to collect.

It is like living an entire life and gathering experience to the point you get to know some things.

You can write them down and summon them to a single page, but there is more to accompany that page. A diary sixty-eight pages log to date...

Never seen a 7" single of 2 tracks....

Just posting for the aficionados.

It is a shorter edit compared to the 12" version.
I have both someplace... If i get round to make a rip I'll see for a post in between things!

Just curious, are there any notes available about where the different tracks were sourced from? Ps it's actually warm weather in the UK at the moment ! :)

I'm also from the UK. I saw it when out was first released on VHS rental (unsure when it was but probably about 1983). We used to have video parties back then. A group of kids would watch a few rentals at one of their houses. One time, I showed Blade Runner to a group. One of my mates (who would go on to work in A.I. funnily enough) was gripped by the film. Just as the Tears in Rain scene began, another kid said "I'm dying for a piss" and ruined the atmosphere for the other lol.

I also saw "The Director's Cut" at the cinema; the first time that I'd seen any version of Blade Runner on a big screen. Just as my favourite opening scene began, a group of latecomers blocked my view in front of me. I was not best pleased ;-)

Is there ANY definite sort of complete score/sessions version available on the first page or would it have to be compiled from several sources? I'm not really interested in all the additional hoo-hah that was released alongside the film, I'm mostly looking for the most complete representation of the film score (film versions or full cues doesn't matter) and all alternates AND unused cues from the film to accompany it.

Happy Christmas to all you Blade Runner Vangelis
fans around the world From the UK.
It's now 30 odd years since I saw Blade Runner
at the cinema. I still hang on
to the hope that someday a complete score will be released.
Best wishes to you all.
Ps it's actually warm weather in the UK at the moment ! :)

I only got to watch snippets of it on television when I was... welll... younger. :)

It was on a b/w television set and it really took me a while to figure out that modern televisions were not having far too many colors which I was already seeing on the old b/w telly anyway.

Somehow, every other time I remember catching the movie on television, I always had to leave for the countryside, so I never got round to see it properly.

It was in 1998 at my friend's place in London that I tried to piece all the bits together.
I had read that they were showing the movie on television so I asked my friends if we could watch it together.

I never had a television, so I took the chance to spend an evening at my friend's place but it was too american for me to fully follow the plot.

Again I did not manage to go through all the movie... I did offer to go out and buy some beers instead. :)

I got to see the full deal on dvd in 2001 or so I think. And I do remember going like: something's different here.
It was the director's cut.

Lucky you guys that had a chance to see it at the cinema back then! ;)

Here's a new cover I made - I'm currently using it for the 29th Anniversary Limited Edition on my iPod.

Nice take! ;)

Nice job, but what 29th anniversary edition do you speak of?
JT

WAIT. DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU MISSED THAT ALL ALONG?

Here is my artwork for 29th Anniversary Edition

I am more into the original John Alvin artwork version!
Nice one! ;)

Mmmhhhmmm... I am trying to figure out your additional hoo-hah, but If I got your thoughts right then you should check:

Blade Runner - EMS Recombination - Definitive Edition
A comprehensive set of every other best sources out there. All of them. Scroll back if you want to learn more on that.

The Sound Of Blade Runner - Definitive Edition
A pretty good one. More focus on the music as heard in the movie. First try at making sense of all the cues in the movie. Period.

Blade Runner - Restored/Remastered 2011
The ideal version of the soundtrack as it might be ever published.

Blade Runner - November 2011
A pocket sized version of all you need to know about the music in the movie.

Blade Runner - Spiderwalk Complete Score
It has all the cues in the movie.

Blade Runner - 29th Anniversary Edition
It has all the requirements you were asking in your post plus all that was mentioned above and a lot of other cues related to the movie.

Don't tell me that you were going to assemble that yourself if it wasn't already done!

It did take years! :)

Hello, I'm not sure if this is a tribute to Vangelis' score or another point of view of the Philip K. Dick's novel:

I'm only gonna tell you the link of the original web:

I have not listen it yet.

Hello, I'm not sure if this is a tribute to Vangelis' score or another point of view of the Philip K. Dick's novel...

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I'd say another point of view on the Philip K. Dick's novel. :)

If you like Steve Roach's soundscapes you might also like the ambient textures of Jack Hertz's music (https://auralfilms.bandcamp.com/album/unicorn-dreams-of-electric-people).

Set in the near future. Blade Runner's vision of Los Angeles in 2019, depicts society at a crossroads where real and artificial life are at war over existence. Charred skies and baked Earth, force an exodus into outer space for the healthy and wealthy. The rest, are left behind to survive; pedestrians on a dystopian highway where technology and the future collide head-on.

This album is a sonic return to Ridley Scott's gritty film noir world that was painted over Philip K Dick's canvas for "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep." Each composition is an extended meditation on the people, places, and encounters found in this unique cinematic vision that fuses the past with our own future.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Hey all, haven't been here in a while. Initially posted this on an old thread - dadadacicici suggested I ask here instead.
Basically, I got the bug to go through my collection again and have a question about something I am missing.
On this page http://spleenrunner.blogspot.com/ there are 2 mixes mentioned. I had been looking for the BR-25 mix, but have since found it (thank you dadadacicici!).
However, I don't see anything regarding the "Blade Runner [Ambient Mix] 2011".
It shows a length of "03:23:28", which is different than the BR-25 mix listed above it, with a length of "03.43.33". Are these in fact 2 completely different mixes, or are they just different versions of the same mix?
That site is literally the only place the other title is mentioned on the web.
Cheers to anyone who can sort this.

Great to see this thread alive, especially with the movie coming in October (the movie I used to wish would never happen, fool that I was)...

Hoping someone can please reconnect me with the gold-cover EMS Recombination Japanese Tracks definitive edition. avaxhome is of course history, I did my homework and searched the thread again, and my backup media have failed me. Thanks in advance if this is possible, and, you know - have a better one. :)

@dragonfyr: do you mean the two from "Vangelis Rarities" posted by Donnor? I was surprised just now, when I clicked them them annuna.net is down, but maybe you meant the one with the three VBR-V0 disks, the Japanese tracks, and the artworks, all on mediafire?

Got those, no problem, but there was a "Definitive" edition Japanese tracks - I think only five tracks, plus completely different artwork with a mainly gold colour scheme.

EDIT: I see Vangelis Rarities has migrated to a new home at vangelis-rarities.com and nope, the set there is the same as the one here at ffsrhine on the first page.

If you d/l the one here on the first page, you will find a black colour scheme that was made for the original 10-track edition. :)

EDIT: sorry; to clarify, the art is in the "Artworks" file, and it's the black/red colour theme 10-track original edition. The music is in the "Blade Runner - EMS Recombination - The Japanese Tracks (VBR-V0)" download, and it's those 10 tracks.

Yep! October is not that far I reckon... though my doubts about the movie still remains... we'll see anyway.

From what I have seen so far I am missing the film noir nuances... not much left to imagination... but I am still hoping to be proved wrong...

I do hope the artworks will come along the music very soon! ;)

So someone will be trading alternative unreleased scores for the same movie at some point... what we just needed to keep things alive on the Blade Runner subject. :)

Regarding Zimmer/Wallfisch, here's the original source:

http://www.pressreader.com/france/studio-cin%C3%A9-live/20170628/282007557396521

A user of IndieWire commented and translated:

Here’s the full quote from Villeneuve in that interview:

“L’Islandais Johann Johannsson compose le thme principal comme prvu. Mais, au vu de l’ampleur de la tche, Benjamin Wallfisch et Hans Zimmer ont rejoint l’quipe pour aider Johann. C’est difficile d’arriver la cheville de Vangelis ! On a des sons atmosphriques ahurissants de Johann, mais j’avais besoin d’autres choses, et Hans nous a aids.”

In English: Given the scale of the task, Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer joined the team to help Johann. We have Johann’s breathtaking atmospheric sounds, but I needed other things also, and Hans helped us.

So everyone CHILL.

dadadacicici

There are phrases in french that are not easily rendered into english... The key statement here is: Cest difficile darriver la cheville de Vangelis !
And that means that it is not easy to surpass what Vangelis did on the original soundtrack! French speaking peers might want to give their input if I am mistaken.

How did you find a composer to succeed Vangelis?

Icelandic Johann Johannsson (with whom Denis Villeneuve worked on Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival) composed the main theme as agreed.
But, given the magnitude of the task, Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer joined the team to help Johann.
It's hard coming close to Vangelis' soundtrack!
We have Johann's breathtaking atmospheric sounds, but I felt I needed other things, and Hans helped us.

The original french version can be found below. Needless to say that the director's views on the subject are better presented in his native language... and every other actor statement is sworn to secrecy by contract as you might have glimpsed so far.

Gosling, a lair svre. Demble, ce qui saisit, cest le son. Le
bruit intense dune p ercussion zbre limage. Puis,
progressivement, une musique sinstalle. Cest lIslandais
compatriote Steve MacQueen ( Hunger, Shame et 12 Years a Slave).
hlicoptre.

Cest
He had my back,
plan a chang.

vieux polar.

semaines maximum. Cest un moment trs important. On vient de tuer
On va continuer
livre dbut septembre.

Dans quel tat desprit tes-vous ?

Je suis de plus en plus excit. Comme si ctait Nol et que je
dballais les cadeaux. Quand on ralise un film dune telle

Blade Runner sest impos moi. Finalement,

Cent cinq jours pendant
Mon record, ctait cinquantecinq.

Ma
premire ide tait dhonorer loriginal. Lambiance est celle dun
film noir.

rapport linformatique a volu.
Blade Runner 2049 interroge

caf New York.
russite taient minimes. De ce fait, artistiquement, a rend le
projet trs excitant, parce quon devient libre.
travail extraordinaire. Le film lui doit beaucoup. Blade Runner
2049 De Denis Villeneuve Avec Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de
Armas, Edward James Olmos Sortie : 4 octobre.

Zimmer.. oh my word. Vangelis would only have to do the Mr Bean chariots joke for the entire score to bladerunner2 and it would come out better.

From what I could hear I couldn't agree more...

‘Road to 2049 Official Site - ‘Blade Runner 2049’ in theaters 2017’ (http://roadto2049.bladerunnermovie.com/)

This site has some insides of what is going to happen in the movie!

2019: A prototype Replicant, Rachael, and Officer Rick Deckard, a Blade Runner, escape Los Angeles together.

2020: After the death of founder Eldon Tyrell, the Tyrell Corporation rushes a new line of Nexus 8 Replicants onto market for use Off-world. Unlike previous Nexus models, built with 4-year lifespans, the Nexus 8s have open-ended lifespans, as well as ocular implants for easy identification.

2022: An EMP of unknown origin detonates somewhere in the West Coast. Cities shut down for weeks. Electronic data is corrupted for destroyed over most of the United States. Finance and trade markets crash worldwide. Food supplies become dire. Theories spread as to the cause of the Blackout; none are proven. The most popular Replicants.

2023: The governing authorities legislate an indefinite “prohibition” on replicant production. Nexus 6 models are now all decommissioned due to their programmed 4-year lifespans. Surviving Nexus 8 models are to be retired. Those that can, go into hiding.

2025: Idealistic scientist Niander Wallace pioneers advancements in genetically modified food and shares his patents for free, marking an end to a global crisis. His company, Wallace Corporation, E&C, expands across the globe — and into the Off-world colonies.

2028: Niander Wallace acquires the remains of the bankrupt Tyrell Corporation.

2030s: Niander Wallace improves upon Tyrell’s genetic engineering and memory implantation methods to make Replicants obedient and controllable.

2036: Prohibition is repealed. Wallace reintroduces a new line of “perfected” Replicants — The Nexus 9.

Early 2040s: The LAPD commits additional resources to bolster its existing Blade Runner unit, tasked with location illegal Replicants — and retiring them.

2048: …

2049: When we return to Los Angeles, 30 years after the original movie, climate change has caused the sea level to rise dramatically. A massive Sea Wall has been built along with Sepulveda Pass to protect the Los Angeles basin. Los Angeles is even more uninhabitable than before and filled with poverty and sickness. Humans, who were not well enough to leave for the off-world colonies, are left behind. There is no fresh food, and inhabitants survive on Wallace’s genetically modified food products sold from vending machines at street markets.

[QUOTE=dadadacicici;3644490]Yep! October is not that far I reckon... though my doubts about the movie still remains... we'll see anyway.

Maybe it's the cgi that's giving it that look of unreality. I'm probably talking rubbish but models as apposed to cgi cause a sense of weight and cgi doesn't. In music it's sort of a digital versus analogue thing analogy. I'm probably mentally setting myself up for disappointment with this new film but it's hardly surprising given the disappointments throughout the years. And three people collaborating on one score. That's just too much. I honestly think we won't be sharing bootlegs on here from the film because the music will be commercially readily widespread available. That was part of the fascination with the Vangelis score. It wasn't available even though we saw the polydor add at the end of the film.

Which is exactly my very frame of mind about latest movies in general nowadays.

I will pass on if the story is good of course... but we're talking something that achieved more than cult status here.
Either it makes it even... either a lot of people are going to be disappointed...

Last good movie I have seen was The Zero Theorem... at least there are some quite nice blends of analog and digital there...

Pointless to add a 2049 boot here... unless the man himself will decide to score something inspired to the movie of course! Who knows? ;)

Looks like Johannsson's out. The Ukranian poster credits only Zimmer and Wallfisch. Curious to see Wallfisch's contribution since I haven't heard any of his electronic work (if any). My guess is it will have a theme or two by Johannsson, a couple of themes by Zimmer (to market it as a Hans Zimmer score) and the bulk of it by Wallfisch.

Two new tv-spots contains music in 'Zimmer-like' style. It's really pity if JJ falls out. I really can't remembery any 'evergreens' by Zimmer after "Interstellar".

It's been confirmed by Johannson's agent alas.
Having him attached was a good sign but having Zimmer involved is a really bad one imo, just more of the same.
I assume it was Scott's call.

Does anyone have Frank Klepacki's - Blade Runner game soundtrack in at least 320kps? I only have it in 128kps, Lossless would be really great, but I don't know if such a beast exists? Got myself a new Cowon Plenue D Dap and have been trying to get higher res versions of some of my albums.

Oh yes. That beast does exist in two different versions. Mono and stereo versions. I need some time to dig out those masters... do remind me in a few weeks if I cannot make it before! ;)

It just might be the case... but I do hope they are not going to make the same mistake twice this time...

I got an invitation for the premiere... but my friends are opting to let the frenzy wearing out a bit before packing into a crowed cinema for a premiere... so I guess I will have to wait to hear what's on the score side of the movie.

Shall I resist the temptation to give away my best bottle of wine to my girlfriend to sneak away while she'll be sleeping soundly aftrwards?

THEY did not make a mistake. When it was announced in 1982 that Vangelis was not releasing the soundtrack I picked up the phone and called Polygram Records.
The nice lady said she could not be specific about the score being withheld but admitted that Vangellis was a very difficult man. Though there have been many rumors
and theories in these past decades, I suspect it came down to the caprice of the composer. Curious that when visiting England a few years later I was watching TV
and there was an anti-drug commercial... it featured the music from Blade Runner. Guess Vangelis was okay with THAT.

Curious that when visiting England a few years later I was watching TV and there was an anti-drug commercial... it featured the music from Blade Runner. Guess Vangelis was okay with THAT.

More likely that they simply licensed the music from Warner and left Vangelis out of the loop entirely. Depending on what his contract stipulates in terms of ownership, obviously.

Hi All,
Does anyone have Frank Klepacki's - Blade Runner game soundtrack in at least 320kps? I only have it in 128kps, Lossless would be really great, but I don't know if such a beast exists? Got myself a new Cowon Plenue D Dap and have been trying to get higher res versions of some of my albums.

Thanks in advance
JT

Here there is a fake lossless version (not my link) http://misterekis.blogspot.com.es/2012/02/frank-klepacki-blade-runner-promo-ape-p.html Hope this helps.

Thank you friend! I hear the game used mono to save space but there is supposed to be a stereo master floating around. Your link is most helpful.

You'd get music by Hans Zimmer & Ben Wallfisch. Hard to go wrong. My guess the tracklist might give away movie plot points and WB has been very secretive about the script.

Any chance to have a full working link instead of going through online MixCloud rippers and the likes?

THEY did not make a mistake. When it was announced in 1982 that Vangelis was not releasing the soundtrack I picked up the phone and called Polygram Records.
The nice lady said she could not be specific about the score being withheld but admitted that Vangellis was a very difficult man. Though there have been many rumors
and theories in these past decades, I suspect it came down to the caprice of the composer. Curious that when visiting England a few years later I was watching TV
and there was an anti-drug commercial... it featured the music from Blade Runner. Guess Vangelis was okay with THAT.

What?

An anti-drug commercial?

Can you remember the music used for it?

So, I'm not an audiophile at all so I don't care about sound quality, I just want the most complete soundtrack without any dialog in the songs... what's the one I should download?

If you scroll down a few pages pack... quite a few actually... you might find that the question was answered countless times.

Not that we mind... but you might want to start with the links on page 1.
A few clicks on the previous forum posts will show some other links eventually.

There are two versions of the game soundtrack released by Pendor.
One is the original music as played by Klepacki.
And another one is something clever arranged by someone else. Most likely a well skilled german composer.
That it is not only a fake lossless version of the game soundtrack.
It is also a fake game soundtrack as a matter of fact.
But quite well conceived at it if I have to tell the truth.

The files originally uploaded at the composer site were in stereo.

http://www.frankklepacki.com/portfolio/game-BR.html

The one used in the game were in mono of course.
One cue was exclusive to the game only and never uploaded on klepacki site as a matter of fact.

All boots omit that cue strangely.

Oh... I did quite like the Blade Runner 2022 anime version as a matter of fact!

Not quite. Just checked the website - there is 2nd Edition available... and I ordered it - I will get the digital d/l first... hopefully it was worth it...

• Exclusive 2nd Edition Alternate Cover Art
• Limited Edition 2-CD Set
• Individually numbered
• Only 2,049 copies of this edition exist!
• Includes digital album download delivered on October 6, 2017
• CD to ship on or around October 20, 2017

Btw - I have the original Blade Runner game still in my shelve... Does anybody has an idea, if it is possible to extract the music? I can't really remember the music since it is ages ago when I played the game...

And as said so often in this forum - it is awsome after nearly 10 years that all of you are still around sharing infos, music and some really quite good covers *blushing*

Why that is not available on any other site?

Are we sure it is legit?

Barely 5000 units produced?
NOW THEY ARE MAKING A MISTAKE AS UNIQUE AS NEVER RELEASING THE OFFICIAL SCORE BACK IN THE DAY.
I am already seeing the eBay bootleggers selling their own limited edition sets to supply the demand...

Why are they so blind?

If you have access to a WIN 98 personal PC there are some tools.
They might still work under WIN XP... at least under SP1... but if you are on a newer system I cannot really tell.
The music files are hidden in the game files. You will need to change some file extensions in order to convert them properly.
Depending on your hardware or software configuration you might get DC offset issues when converting.

Some did the dirty work for you hopefully. :)

Hi All,
I put together another mix, you may have heard some of this material before here and there, and if sound fx and dialogue is not you bag then this might not be the mix for you. Personally I love the mix like this. In some cases I added my own sound FX to allow me to add different music cues to well known scenes. This took many months work. So this is not just a recording of the movies music cues. The majority of music tracks were 16 bit Flac files. I haven't got around to art work yet, please share comment and enjoy.

Hi all,

Thanks to DC, who has shared with me numerous sources I didn't have, I am (after two years) putting the final touches on a compilation of the Blade Runner music as it was used in the film -- every single cue, edited or crossfaded as necessary, using the Director's Cut as my reference. I've discovered a great many interesting details as well as errors in previous boots, sometimes involving simple mislabeling of cues, and other times involving tracks running at the wrong pitch/speed. For instance, the track labeled on many boots as "Roy Enters the Bradbury" is actually the last half of the cue I'm calling "Show Me What You're Made Of." The music corresponding to "Roy Enters the Bradbury" in the film is almost identical to the earlier cue, "Pris Meets J.F. Sebastian," with some small differences.

Where no title has existed previously for a cue, I have used a line of dialogue from the scene as the title.

I will include all my findings and sources in notes accompanying the set.

In addition to the film versions of the music, I will include a bonus folder of unedited compositions, from which the film cues were created.

Blade Runner -- The Complete Score: 35th Anniversary Edition

Wait... what's that cue "Queen to Bishop 6"? An excerpt from James Horner's Aliens score?

The MOVIE....Seen.

And,....

Just go pay your damn money.

oh ! And take some FOOD with you....It's long, but don't feel as long,...but, you'll need supplies.

Gonna need 10 days or so to absorb movie.....figure some stuff out....

Music.... fits the bill....though....different feel for a different movie. [Tad too LOUD for some skyline shots]. [Thanks Zimmer O_o Wallace make me some new ear drums !!!?]

Yeah, Just go PAY YOUR MONEY.....YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

.....

Just go in knowing it had TOO MUCH to live up to,as the starting point...a take it as it's own thing...and will still pretty amazing. ...I think next ones out 2021...!

I had NOTHING spoiled before going in...Barely watched 2 Trailers. This is definitely one with twists and turns. And for a movie approaching 3 hours....pacing was a pass. Lots to deal with. No one will absorb it all in a day. !!

Many "Nipples" in this....Worth price of admission alone. !! : D

p.s. All actors + Actresses hold their own in this....except a little HAM & CHEESE from a certain zombie apocalypser. That felt a bit......un-needed. Mercifully its pretty short bit. LOL

You know the only way they could have bettered this movie.....?

Is if it was filmed on FILM. {I'm still not used to the digital dry crispness of EVERYTHING these days...But that's 'cos I'm old.}

That's all I can think of to say. Miss those Spinner lens flare halos.... : (
