Notes :

The original content of this archive was originally posted at Sci-Fi Dead-Donkey Forums on July 2004 for the ed2k network.
Disc One was essentially a compilation including all the cues from the Off-World version and the Blimpvert track added in the cloned european version translated in Romanian a.k.a. Gongo release.
I eventually decided to not re-upload it as I got it off the p2p network as released on http://scifi.dead-donkey.com (where most of the Blade Runner bootlegs started getting into mainstream at the time).
The original upload did not have One More Kiss Dear for example and this updated form does include a better version of Pompeii 76 A.D. a.k.a. Bicycle Riders performed by Gail Laughton.
I have merely re-ripped the songs in better quality off the cds eliminating the DC offset problem they both seem to share to complement the original releases.
If you are happy (as I trust you should be) with the Off-World and Gongo versions posted before (look on the very first page :) ) you might not need to download this.
Disc Two was the Blade Runner Suite also known as Blade Runner Outtakes since they were not included in the official release.
Since it was a long one-track, I splitted it into the resulting 11 cues included using mp3 editing software to keep the original encoding.
Fadings at the start and the end of the songs were applied, and the less relevant bytes of tape hiss and silence or artifacts were trimmed out.

Thanks to Taffy Lewis for posting this in the first place :)

Comments :

"This is really the one that started it all. Disappointed with the New American Orchestra version that was released in 1982, this tape was leaked out by disgruntled fans on the inside. The quality is far surpassed on subsequent boots, but it still holds interest if only as a curiosity and a historical reference."

Synaptyx
http://bladerunner2019.com/home/blade-runner-soundtrack/

"It seems to be from the same source that gave us these tracks on OWM and Gongo. Same distortions anyway. This release is pretty distorted, but it is interesting from a historical point of view."

"... curiously, I haven’t been able to find any sort of confirmation based on the tracklist alone. It does differ greatly from the "Tapes" version listed on Vangelis-rarities (a site I usually go by for accurate info on bootlegs)

Already posted (also here) in a different form. This is a proper repackage of the original content posted including a better tagging, tracklist and a custom cover.
Credits for this invaluable bit of history to the original uploader at www.br2019.com I believe :)
This was nicely edited, neatly faded in & out for a last time and uncannily repackaged minus a few annoying clicks for your invaluable listening pleasure to better enjoy such remarkable music in its most likely original form including some of the unavoidable tape hiss).

Notes :

This is an attempt to a remastered version of cues originally available only on tape and largely circulating in a different form here collected as a whole. Contains previously available material in a slightly improved and enhanced form including the unavoidable tape hiss minus a few annoying clicks.
Even if this is a not a special limited edition release, it is not licenced for public sale.
The majority of those private releases are archives of unreleased material and are not for public sale but for archival purposes only.

... I like the music, but with all these different releases, Im not sure what to try...
I like "Blade Runner Blues" being 10 minutes, and I see one version is under 4 minutes, so I might not want to try that.... I love the end credits music.

Any suggestions on what are popular editions? I hear the techno remixes are acquired tastes....

What would the top 3 be?

You might want to get along with the completeness of the "Esper Edition" (MKII or Retirement edition if you wish to get into the techno remixes as well); the cinematic take of the "Deck Art 765 Definitive Edition" version should be a must, and the "2019 Theatrical Version" should be a nice complement.
It is the one that started the trend perhaps.
After that the "2008 Sebastien's Edition", the "Silver & Moments Edition", "The Sound Of Blade Runner Definitive Edition" and "Spiderwalk Cut" followed each other adding in nuances of the same theme.
As a personal advice I would advice to browse the links posted here and have a listen to them all at least once instead of listening 20 times to the same version.
You might better appreciate all the subtle variations of the soundtrack perhaps. They all contain slighty different or alternate (if not altered) versions, but, as I wrote, the only ones you might want to listen to might be the ones I was suggesting.
It won't hurt having them all anyway! Time will be the final judge :)

Damn Blade Runner addiction... at least it is me the pusher :)

Sorry, I actually wanted to mean that with Definitive Edition! My apologies :)

Thanks for the fix.

Two more "fixes" to go.
A remastered take onto a fan made compilation called LMS... and a re-work of a fan made version called "Ultimate" someone might already have in its original form... and a portafolio of tape covers...
The problem is that when I use the word "weekend"... is pretty subjective :)

Notes :

This is an attempt to a remastered version of cues originally available only on tape and moderately circulating on cd in a semi-official form (formerly collected for a fan-made edition).
Contains previously available material in an improved and enhanced form (including what was left of the unavoidable tape hiss after the denoising stage minus a couple of annoying clicks).
This is not a special limited edition release and is not licenced for public sale. The original version was an unofficial release and was intented for public sale. This should remain a private release of unreleased material purely for archival purposes and should not be intended in any way for other purposes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comment :

If you could figure out that what was posted in the last posts was done to get to this eventually... still I cannot be a judge of myself. It does sound "a bit different" compared to the original Off-Wolrd or Gongo editions.

A friend after listening to "End Titles" complimented for the drum patterns I had added to it (compared to the version on the Gongo edition) ... I did not add anything... I brought out was was buried within perhaps. I had a hard time to level up the volumes once the missing frequencies were added to the originals. Still what wasn't originally there coulnd't be fully glued into the music. I ended up burning several listening test cd's to get to this. I would deeply appreciate any suggestion about the volume levels through the whole cd if there's any evident problem you might spot. Then I will be posting it as audio if you wish.

It does not sound too bad on cd though now I am having the impression the matter gets different when listened with earphones... or at least it is being me having listened to it far too much in the last week, and being no more objective about it. Send a PM in case.

I did try the cloning approach to the official edition but eventually I opted to use that approach only on the cues for the "Ultimate Edition" I will be posting next.
The Off-World/Gongo was a transfer of the unmastered cues for the movie (perhaps listening test cassettes), so I wanted to keep that feeling (including what I still consider a quite problematic issue on the low end spectrum of some cues as "Main Titles" and "On The Trail Of Nexus 6") without changing it too much in a personal version of it.
The official version does sound as it should without me attempting to get as good as that.

Hope you enjoy it :)

Notes :

A while ago a link to yet another version of the very same soundtrack was to be found thanks to a very kind peer's tip.
I was pretty happy of having found something I did not have yet and I was more than ready to share it for the sake of the hungry Blade Runner peers around, but after having listened to it very closely I realized why in the name of common sharing sense this had not surfaced before though it is being shared on private forums perhaps.
Was it possible that the last person to get things was being the first one to spot the hidden treasures among sharers? Yes, it happened on a couple of occasions. But no, it simply had not this time, and had to be not for what it matters.
The unknown peer had just took some compressed mp3, edited them as audio and reshared the joke as lossless with a nice alternate cover.
He is probably having a laught I suspect, considering that the very same edits got to be re-done from the originals he took his compressed sources (the official 1994 edition) and some other cues re-worked (or cloned according to the official ones from the 1993 Off-World edition) as to match the official sources made available for us from Vangelis itself. A couple of edits might have been lifted directly from the movie including the sound effects.
One track got to be remixed to make this release unique :)
Eventually he decided to call it ultimate version though it is far from being so in my opinion. This new version (dubbed MR2 Edition to avoid confusion with the original work shared by our unknown peer) was fixed bit by bit since the concept (though already used with previous Blade Runner boots) was partly good in a way.
Perhaps it was done in a good faith with the (used and abused) purpose of preserving his favourite soundtrack, but definitely not properly.
Maybe it was only a waste of time fixing this properly, but surely something interesting (like a different version of Pompeii 76 A.D. for example) might be found in between the edits. Another example is "Blade Runner Blues" (that got its name changed according to our unknown peer's taste as most of the original track titles) which was wickedly edited as one longer track off the scenes featuring its music.
Who knows! And yes, I know. The cake is good too. Isn't it? I trust he'll know what I mean!
Are we going to expect a Quadrilogy around 2019?
And that reminds me that it might be better thinking to eat something really!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi

PS. If you happen to be an experienced american-english mother tongue peer you are welcome to submit any correction to the speaker comments. Hope you'll enjoy a bit of reading in case :)
The competition is also open to participants of all other english speaking countries though american-english is preferred. Send your corrections via PM please.
First ten lucky peers will receive a link to a very limited sequenced version (in the Esper vein) of this ultimate soundtrack (dubbed MR3 Edition) plus a very special thank you!
The unknown peer will also get one as if he/she/it wishes. :)

Here's my back tray inlay for LMS EDITION 2001

I second Zoran about the nice work :)
Now I'll be feeling compelled to re-release the LMS as lossless with a brand new set of covers! Stay tuned folks!
But they are both good in a way... the one re-worked by Jack has a more professional nuance while the original created by xchullit has more of a vintage touch...
Anyway they all are much better than mines I have to admit... with all my envy about their covers!

Where did you find it! Thanks

"While being on a secret mission on Soulseek to rescue some of the Blade Runner soundtrack editions agent DC has been posting in his previous posts, after stumbling on a known peer, while chatting, they came to realize they were both posting on the very same thread in the same forum, so it came naturally to exchange some links of what they did not have yet." The original archive was called Ultimate Blade Runner Soundtrack I believe, but the Soulseek user did not have any more clues to where it has originated. He said it was being shared on a private forum and was very kind to send a link to it. I think it got eventually re-packed with a nice alternate cover as the Blade Runner Ultimate Soundtrack. I have practically borrowed the tracklist (as I did with the LMS Edition 2001) it has to be said.

I ended up fixing it and putting a better dress to the cues used since it had some good ideas that I could not find on any other version I knew. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Next version!! Thanks dadadacicici :D

I'm afraid it will have to be my last post about the subject! There's not much to be added apart the different version of the game soundtrack I am having perhaps... and this is the best and more complete thread any Blade Runner fans will ever dream to come through I suspect :)

I'll be finishing the work on The Complete Blade Runner Soundtracks Cover Collection archive and starting working on the http://forums.ffshrine.org/film-television-classical-music-download-links/76419-blade-runner-soundtracks-related-thread.html posts. Hopefully Zhora is giving a great input there and I will be adding the bits I still have to share. which is the same content as http://www.megaupload.com/?d=REFXZ2OV posted here as "what we know as Memoires Vol. 5" which is in a better quality according to what I could hear, so you might want skip the last track the was added to that and keeping the remaining 21 tracks as a better source for the release you have just posted perhaps...
The link I am adding to your post was posted believing it was a different release perhaps... we were trying to solve that in the Yahoo Group as well... in the meanwhile it won't hurt having them both. As a matter of fact the Struzan Beta Edition has the very same track durations.

It's only 128 kbs as you might notice and there's also the 320 kbs version of it availiable posted by Jack (but I tend to think that the latter is a re-encode of the former... as I am inclined to think with yours unless something wrong happened while it was being encoded).

The version you have posted has some glitches at every start of song that might be dued to a difference in amplitude when joining two segment of audio... for example when you decode an mp3 and mess with it...but that's academic.

Thanks really much for your post anyway!

Could you please double check the content with the link posted on page three?
I believe that was the Blade Runner Special Edition since the album original tag said only Japanese but not Memoires 5... with an extra track to it...
The alternate cover link is not showing... I'd like to see that!!!!! Is this the remaked cover?

Blade Runner 2008 = Blade Runner's Sebastien 2008.
I just renamed it 's 2008 to make a difference with the other releases shared in 2008.

The cover you have posted might be the original or an alternate one...

Hmm that is the way that I have always seen it...with the original font it was difficult to read.
Anyway it was an easy fix that took all of 60 seconds to redo both. ;)

Yes DC, I know that mmoires is a French word that translates to memories...I took French in high school. ;) To achieve that I have to use an ALT code on the keyboard. There isn't any ALT codes available for either of the fonts I used so I tried to just paint a little jot over the top of the e but it did not turn out worth a crap. If I had one of those pricey digital stylus & pads instead of an optical mouse I am sure that I could pull it off with favorable results. So when you look at those covers just pretend there is an instead of an e.

In fact souvenirs is the best French translation for memories. les mmoires are in fact a collection of memories, the appropriate translation could be memoirs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memoir).

What's that:

This is a custom release: Full Off-World (a.k.a. Nexus 6 Vol 1) and the full Gongo (a.k.a. Nexus 6 Vol 2) in a single release - the Gongo is a repackaging of the Off-World minus a track and plus a different track - and by adding Qu'ran off the first vinyl transfer we will achieve "Vangelis - Blade Runner - Nexus 6 - Vol 3." :)

Those damn hackers... another soundtrack overnight ;) And it does not sound too bad either... Well, it does sound like the Off World and Gongo actually, but If I Didn't Care & Bicycle Riders sound cleaner here... The original version of Qu'ran from the workprint is also present... plus this does not seem to have the clicks and glitches of the Off World version floating around...

The woman in the picture is Emmanuelle Seigner, she plays Mimi in Bitter Moon by Roman Polanski. We ended up recreating an alternative cover for a release called Mmoires Vol 4 featuring music from Bitter Moon and Blade Runner both by Vangelis. :)

There is gonna be a delay on the artwork that I promised...I have some nasty viruses & malware that I thought that I get rid of which is slowing my system down and causing some programs to crash including Photoshop. :(

So I am backing things up now which will take some time (250 GB hard drive nearly full) but when all backups are complete I will resume the Blade Runner covers and will try to replicate the original art first and make my own versions lastly. :)

Mr. Spiderwalk,

For what it is worth... your compilation has overwhelmed me. I don't know how you did it, but THIS is the Blade Runner soundtrack that I was hoping for back in 1982. It has been a very long wait. I thank you for whatever effort it took for you to provide this to we- the faithful- who greatly, greatly appreciate this score. Now if only that knuckle-head Vangelis had done it this way in the first place. Thank YOU!

Thanks for the 30 track 2cd link :-)
For your question - I have 2 recommendations
Sebastien's - 2008 Edition
or
Vicente's - The Sound Of Blade Runner Definitive Edition.
Both are excellent yet quite different. Both are 2 cd sets in duration. (Vicente's TSOBR is actually a 3 disc set but fits easily onto 2 discs).
The 2008 Edition has all the tracks running together without silences. TSOBR has silence between the tracks.
Cheers, Zhora.

Vangelis - Blade Runner Bootleg Limited Edition OST (http://gxiso.com/music/90722-vangelis-blade-runner-bootleg-limited-edition-ost.html)

30 track "limited edition" but it's missing the end titles...hmmm...

The link is not working... It might be the Esper Analysis Bootleg... just my guess... but we would like to check that if you could send a link for analysis purposes!

I personally like listening to Mmoires Vol 5 and the Esper MR2 on the iPod... but as Zhora has pointed out also the ones he is referring to are good to get into the mood :)

Unfortunately it did not match the quality of the encoding when it was made first available, but the overall quality was quite good. Have a listen at the bass response of Vangelis's keyboards. The sound engineer has done a good job (too bad the low bit rate used had weakened that).
Perhaps a bit too low in volume, but that is how was intended to be.
I ended up restoring a personal version for my listenings since the original encode had its problems and with time I found myself listening to it more and more until a lossless encode from the original source was finally re-shared.
It had to be the first of the Vangelis suites by FIC perhaps, but the low encode rate had destroyed part of the brilliance it might originally had.
The problematic tracks 17 and 18 now do not present the glitches and clicks either on the original support or from poor encoding.
Due to this issues all versions floating around encoded higher than 128 kbps were a re-encode. The version previously posted, most likely, was the original version that got re-encoded at higher bit rates from time to time and with the proper version of the first track that subsequent re-packagings had swapped with track 2 after the initial seconds of the song. Cannot be 100% sure about that, but out of all the 10 versions I was having that was the one with less artifacts. A similiar step was taken with a version re-encoded at 192 kbps after a cleaning job was done to the original sources, but that archive omitted the more problematic track somehow.
A more cinematic tracklist was eventually added for a better tagging of the music you will be listening to if you please. A most anonymous peers is deserving the credit for re-naming the tracks after the MR3 fashion since it never had a tracklist as it is the case with all the Blade Runner suites both from FIC and Deck Music/Deck Art.
Special thanks to Alice for the Bitter Moon suite tracklist. She went through the film photography (she never liked the movie, but she is an aesthetic in her way) and again found herself listening more to the film music rather than going through Pascal Bruckner (le nouveau Pauline Rage) tale transposed into film by director Roman Polanski in 1992. She had forgot the movie, (as she had already forgot Pauline Rage) but she did remember the music which accompanied the scenes in the same way she finds herself watching from time to time the Blade Runner movie adaptation from the Philip K. Dick tale and directed by Ridley Scott in 1982 for her cinema classes.
Needless to remind that the majority of those Private Releases are archives of unreleased material and are not for public sale but for archival purposes only! Thumbs of the original artwork included.
Also included alternate artworks courtesy of shriners Xchullit and Zoran.
Watch out for the additional artwork to be posted at a later date. :)

Notes :

A few words need to be added before posting a dupe of something already posted, and most of the content referring to this edition is plainly wrong I'm afraid. After comparisons with all the clues that made it into the year 2010, (more than 10 years that this version was originally released in the usual limited edition fashion that seems to be much in vogue with everything Blade Runner related and secretly passing hands of the serious collectors only), after much debating whenever this was real or not (informations got lost buried into some collector's vault perhaps) eventually it came out that the version we all knew as "Mmoires Vol 5" as currently being shared and (not so legally) sold over the internet is actually a repackaged version of "Mmoires Vol 7" a.k.a. "Blade Runner Special Edition" or "Deck Music Special Edition" if you like, with the addiction of the "Blimp Song" by Ensemble Nipponia in its original form. As a matter of fact this release is more musically pure compared to Mmoires Vol 7 since it does not add any clever not-by-vangelis edits to the music except for the Morning At The Bradbury Prelude perhaps, which sounds as Off-World Replicant Memories at some point.
For this infos we are indebted to the only person that could shed some light into the matter at Vangelis-Rarities and to a peer of good will for bringing this rarity to light once more.
The original release presumably had a long single track also referred as "Blade Runner suite", while this was normalized and splitted into separate tracks according to the releases by Deck Music/Deck Art that originated off this concept and not keeping the same made-up track names as our source had passed to its history in a way).
This is how you might already have this tracks named: Main Titles, Leon, Cold Fish, Departure, I'm Rachel, Fish Scales, Bicycle Riders, Prodigal Son, Photo Memories, Pris Meets JF, Unicorn Dream, Searching For Clues, Off World Murder Squad, Roy And Pris, Morning At The Bradbury, The Prodigal Son Brings Death Prelude, The Prodigal Son Brings Death, Deckard Enters The Bradbury, Bradbury Ambience, Wounded Animals, Tears and Rain, End Titles. An anonymous peer is deserving the credit for re-naming the tracks after the MR3 fashion since it never had a tracklist as it is the case with all the Blade Runner suites both from FIC and Deck Music/Deck Art (as a matter of fact japanese collectors had to resolve to western markets to get hold of these).
What we did was done to preserve this edition in the only way we believe is for the best.
Please do respect honest peers' work. We would like to remind that you should not make profit off what it is not your own. The reason to be of this release is for a better archival purpose only. Be responsible in giving back what you had for free. Consider sharing back what was shared of old if you care. We are only left with what we share eventually. The more accurately (read properly) the better for the peers-to-be.
Alternate artworks kindly provided by shriners JacKc and Xchullit. Thanks for your efforts! Also included original artwork.

Thanks to all peers of good will. They know who they are! Have a better one!

Notes :

This edition appears to be an expanded and remastered version originating from the same concept (the foreign dubs) of the "Blade Runner - Director's Cut" by FIC, (5th in the Mmoires series, with about 4 volumes devoted to Blade Runner) and also known as "Mmoires Vol 7" which might be the original limited version (which should be by FIC since it was them who preserved Vangelis unreleased material with the Mmoires series spanning 12 volumes) that was presumably manufactured in Japan in 1999 by Deck Music, but more likely somewhere in the western side of the world or for the western markets since it was nowhere to be found in the eastern side when it was out and japanese collectors had to resolve to western markets to get hold of both Deck releases somehow).
As a matter of fact this release is less musically pure compared to Mmoires Vol 5 since it adds some clever not-by-vangelis edits to the music; most notably the gated synth to "Leon's Voight-Kampff Test", the Rachel's Song samples as intro to "Chew's Eye Lab" and the workprint version of the Main Titles by Robert Randles to the end of "End Titles Theme". Perhaps, as it appears with the "Struzan Beta" edition, which is a repackaging of the Deck Music edition or FIC version, or both (that we cannot guess), this "Blade Runner Special Edition" by Deck Music should be a (re)packaging of the Mmoires Vol 7. Perhaps someone ripped someone off... if not done by mutual agreement... FIC turning into Deck Music for a less limited scale distribution of their releases (but that we'll never guess).
Tracks renamed likely to the MR3 fashion as this never had an official tracklist, neither in japanese nor in english for what that matters... even if it did have a not-so-official tracklist (at some point) as the repackaged version of "Mmoires Vol 5" sold via not-so-legal mp3 sites (check out Struzan Beta Edition note about this). This is how you might already have this tracks named: Main Titles, Leon, Cold Fish, Departure, I'm Rachel, Rachel's Song, Fish Scales, Bicycle Riders, Prodigal Son, Photo Memories, Unicorn Dream, Searching For Clues, Off World Murder Squad, Roy and Pris, Prodigal Son Brings Death, Deckard & Rachel, I Dreamt Music, I Dreamt Music (Alternate Version), Wounded Animals, Tears and Rain, End Titles.
Thumbs of the original artwork included. Also included alternate artwork kindly provided by Zero Flyer & Cloud9's team. Spasbo!

Notes :

This edition includes a remastered version of the previous Deck Music release (tracks 02 to 24) with a different indexing of the same cues (leaving out only a handful of milliseconds in the making) and with the addictions of extra material.
"Blade Runner Original Soundtrack" and credits about Vangelis are written in japanese. Due to this reason perhaps this edition is often referred to as "Deck Definitive Edition".
An anonymous peer is deserving the credit for naming the tracks after the MR3 fashion since it never had a tracklist as it is the case with all the Blade Runner suites both from FIC and Deck Music. The workprint version of Tears In Rain is actually by Jerry Goldsmith (not by John Williams as stated in the booklet), and the temp music used was borrowed from the "Planet Of The Apes" series.
I hope it clears up some confusion. Original and alternate artworks also included.

Notes :

When the originals go missing a perfect copy take its place. The new comment at vangelis-rarities already says it all. A nice cover to a nearly impossible to find release. They might have wanted to credit back their source at least, (we call that respect), but there you are in the tried and tested collector's
frenzy schemes, stoking all the different versions of the very same release with brand new maquillage. It went missing also disguised in the Struzan Beta manufactured form somehow. Is it really worth when a handful of individuals have it in their possessions and no one is going to listen to it anymore?
This is what had happened to this release somehow. They could have encoded it properly at least... they did not and we can hear it, but it does have the missing frames off the only Mmoires Vol 7 version it was ever shared, and that's a thank you for the effort in a way. We cannot accurately know when this edition was manufactured, as usual informations get lost in collector's boxes, but this was first shared back in 2007, so we might want to keep that instead of a question mark. It really doesn't matter for the moment anyway.
This edition appears to be an expanded and remastered version originating from the same concept (the foreign dubs) of the "Blade Runner - Director's Cut" by FIC, (5th in the Mmoires series, with about 4 volumes devoted to Blade Runner) and also known as "Mmoires Vol 7". Japanese collectors got both Deck releases here in Europe somehow...)
Perhaps someone ripped someone off... if not done by mutual agreement (but that we'll never guess).
In comparison to its Mmoires Vol 5 counterpart, this release adds some clever not-by-vangelis edits to the music; most notably the gated synth to "Leon's Voight-Kampff Test", the Rachel's Song samples as intro to "Chew's Eye Lab" and the workprint version of the Main Titles by Robert Randles to the end of "End Titles Theme".

This is how you might already have this tracks named in the mistakely Mmoires Vol 5 version available: Main Titles, Leon, Cold Fish, Departure, I'm Rachel, Rachel's Song, Fish Scales, Bicycle Riders, Prodigal Son, Photo Memories, Unicorn Dream, Searching For Clues, Off World Murder Squad, Roy and Pris, Prodigal Son Brings Death, Deckard And Rachel, I Dreamt Music, I Dreamt Music (Alternate Version), Wounded Animals, Tears And Rain, End Titles... or: Blade Runner Suite Part 1 to 21 in the Struzan Beta version.

Notes :

Some refer to this as "Blade Runner Suite". Not so appropriate a name for it perhaps :)
The original content of this archive was originally posted at Sci-Fi Dead-Donkey Forums on July 2004 for the ed2k network. I am not re-uploading it as I got it off the p2p network, and you might already have Disc 2 as a long single track. Credits to Taffy Lewis for posting this on March 2004 :)
It was already posted in this thread and you do not need to download things twice. I am mirroring a new working link only because this is often referred as Blade Runner Suite :)
Disc One was essentially a compilation including all the cues from the Off-World version and the extra track included in the virtually clone version translated in Romanian also known as Gongo release. (See Nexus Vol 3 release for that.)
Disc Two were the songs better referred as Blade Runner Outtakes since they were not included in the official soundtrack release.
The quality for a tape transfer is pretty good (if not very good).
It contains the early version that ended up as Desolation Path on cd2 of the Blade Runner Trilogy (the first part of it is known as I Dreamt Music on previous bootlegs).
It seemed just the right time to split it into a more appropriate form using mp3 editing software without decoding it to audio and keeping the original variable bitrate.
I just applied fadings at the start and the end of the songs and trimmed out the less relevant bytes of tape hiss and silence or artifacts.
Some are still there in between the fade ins & outs.
Most of the releases coming since 2004 have taken their sources from the songs off the so-called Blade Runner Suite.

----------

Nice work but if you change the cover, the purpose of this edition got no sense...

Antas recently post in his site that the Struzan Beta Edition his in fact identical to Blade Runner - Special Edition - Memoires vol 7...So we could think it's just a repackaging dedicated to Drew Struzan who has made some beautifull Blade Runner painting in 1980's but never used for the BR 1982 Movie (prefering John Alvin's painting).

NOTE : Drew Struzan is the artist painter for the 2007 Blade Runner Final Cut Cover !

here's my rework Struzan Beta cover...

Actually working on back tray inlay plus few more.... Nothing related to BR but also working on Conan The Barbarian Artworks for FFShrine (more info soon...)

I've remade front cover for Blade Runner - Special Edition

Merci beaucoup! :)

These are the last pieces I could add to the topic perhaps. The relevant ones in a way... Some tracks of the Esper releases were taken off those...
The following versions are still missing: "Blade Runner - Tales Of The Future", "Blade Runner - Struzan UK Edition", "Blade Runner - WSM 2000 Edition" (which I suspect might be the official 1994 version with an alternate cover), "Blade Runner - Asian World 98 Version" (that I really would like to listen to since it is a different take on the first generation tapes I'm told), "Cliffhanger and Radio Plays" (well, I won't mind getting to know that better but I suppose it might not be so essential), "Blade Runner - Nexus 6 Volume 1 & 2" (we got that covered with volume 3 anyway).
Any help in tracking these would be appreciated. :)
I am having the "BR25 (The Final Mix)" in a different form on the other computer. A friend converted it from wma to listen to it on his iPod... and since a cue file was done for it you might want to check that perhaps.
As for now you're having quite a bit for your listenings I'm guessing!

Thanks everybody ;)

Oh my... that Dwight Okahara's Off-World colonies advert was going to be included in the Nexus 6 Volume 3 originally... but it wasn't used eventually... I know it is on the other PC... but I'm afraid the other PC is still being repaired... if you have a bit of patience I can see for that... but it might take a while before getting the PC back...

Except for the "M Presents... Music from Movies - Blade Runner - 2006" (which I did not post since is a compilation of the Esper and the official version... even if done properly) I'm afraid it will have to be Vangelis to have the last word ;)

It might be easier for everybody having the link collected here rather than googling for it perhaps...

Vangelis - Blade Runner Bootleg Limited Edition OST (http://gxiso.com/music/90722-vangelis-blade-runner-bootleg-limited-edition-ost.html)
30 track "limited edition" but it's missing the end titles...hmmm...

Review:
For years, the soundtrack to Blade Runner held legendary status among fans of Greek synthesist Vangelis. Except for a few cuts on the Themes compilation, it had never been released on vinyl or CD, although there was an orchestral version of the score. But in 1994, 22 years after Vangelis composed the dark, edgy soundtrack to director Ridley Scott's archetypal science fiction thriller, the music of Blade Runner came out in all its cybernoir glory.

Vangelis couched his electrosymphonic score in percussive rhythms and shadowed timbres. Effectively interpolating dialogue from the film, the CD moves from the threatening tension of "Blush Response" to the ethereal wordless vocal of Mary Hopkin over a water-drop synthesizer sequence on "Rachel's Song." A few tracks, notably "Love Theme" with ~censored~ Morrisey's smarmy saxophone solo, drip with Hollywood sentimentality, but Vangelis quickly wipes that away with the hyperdrive of "Blade Runner (End Titles)."

Track list:
1. Vangelis - Prologue And Main Titles (3:53)
2. Vangelis - Leon's Voight Kampff Test - Sushi Bar (1:37)
3. Vangelis - Damask Rose (2:00)
4. Vangelis - Spinner Ascent (Los Angeles November 2019) (1:31)
5. Vangelis - Blush Response (5:45)
6. Vangelis - Wait For Me (5:18)
7. Vangelis - Deckard Meets Rachel - Rachel's Voight Kampff Test (1:36)
8. Vangelis - Tales Of The Future (On The Trail Of Nexus 6) (4:53)
9. Vangelis - Bicycle Riders (Harps Of The Ancient Temples) (2:11)
10. Vangelis - Chew's Eye Lab (1:17)
11. Vangelis - Memories Of Green (5:31)
12. Vangelis - Blade Runner Blues (Extended version) (10:07)
13. Vangelis - Pris Meets J.F. Sebastian (1:41)
14. Vangelis - One More Kiss, Dear (3:57)
15. Vangelis - Deckard's Dream (1:11)
16. Vangelis - Thinking Of Rachel (Love Theme Different Take) (1:17)

This might be a silly question, but I'm trying to find the (not sure what it is) indian or hindu /arabic song that plays often in the film (it's not damask rose). One man sings it I think. Every time it plays it gives me goose bumps. Thanks :)

I'm putting together some covers and labels for my BR EMS Recombination compilation and done some mock up's on MS paint. There have been some pretty amazing covers made by various people on the thread. Can they enlighten me as to what software they used? When I've made some decent covers, I will upload it all...

Hi b5historyman! I remember seeing you on another forum speaking of your compilation that at the time was on hold. Regarding the software, I use an old version of Microsoft Photoshop and some intermediate skills that came from trail and error. Looking forward to your entry in the BR fan releases.

Thanks Zoran. I'll have a look around the Microsoft site and see what's on offer. I've put the compilation together and will find somewhere to upload it as soon as possible. Just waiting for Dc to provide the "Off world advertisement"

I don't want people to think I'm really Focuspuller, I'm not. I am just as impatient to hear his complete music collection too. Mine is just the best of the best available bootlegs out there. I've just scoured all of them and picked the best sounding tracks (sans fx/dialogue) and done a compilation. The main score runs at about 1 hr 50 mins. The "extras" 59 mins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the music [score] from the movie Blade Runner [1982]. It is a compilation of what you can get on the net if you are looking hard enough for something that is not on the official album from 1994.
As I remember there is a webpage dedicated to this subject- they are keeping track of all the existing different versions of BR music, but I can't recall their URL. They have all the infos you need if you want to know what exactly is "everything-labeled-blade-runner-music". But the story behind my version is that: I knew there was more BR-music than on the 1994 album so I started to look for it.
I managed to download much of it [mostly via eMule], checked out on that aforementioned site if I was still missing something [I wasn't] and then came up with this compilation. I've only took what was with good enough sound quality to listen to [for example I've excluded some crappy cue done by John Williams at the early stage of the movie production when he was still attached to the project].
I've remastered all of them thus making them louder when they needed to be and cleaned of any pitches, glitches etc. and came up with the order of the track list.
Some tracks are a mix of different existing versions [mostly #1, #2 and #3].
There is very little ambient sound from the movie on this album- I didn't want tracks like that on my ultimate BR music compilation.
Summing up: there is more BR music out there, but in my humble opinion in 2006 it wasn't available in quality worth listening to.

I'm posting this to wish b5historyman all the best for his project... and for Xchullit and all the "collectors" out there as well. :)
They might not necessarily agree with the poster's view (I don't for a start), nor they might need yet another "best of", but in a way the person responsible for this has put some effort into this compilation and deserves his share of credit in what we have achieved in this thread.
He is also quite honest to note that he re-encoded his work from various sources.
It actually sounds like the sources he used... (Esper, Official and Orchestral version) like the Esper sounded like the sources they used at different stages of their productions (FIC, Official, Off-World).
It is still listed on torrent sites though no one is seeding nor leeching this nowadays (the curse of every torrent).
Have a better one b5historyman... at least yours is going to have an unreleased ad I believe! ;)

Notes :

Blade Runner - 20th Anniversary Edition presumably by Off World Music, 2002. Better encoding of this double cd release (the previous share was encoded at 160 Kbps, this is 320 Kbps) also repackaged (at some point) as Struzan UK with a cover inspired by Drew Struzan. Sources for this release are the 1993 Off World Edition (based on the 1982 mixing sessions on cassette tape) and the 1994 official version by EastWest. Artwork kindly redesigned by JacKc, (this is a special thank you! ;)). Original and alternate artworks (including Struzan UK repackaging) also included. :)

Yes, it is the same one.

Yes, somehow someone did repack the content (minus a track) into the "Nas Private Release" or just furthered the concept into the "Blade Runner - The Theatrical Version".
Of that we cannot be sure; but you might want to know that the "Blade Runner - 2019 Edition" is the release that followed the aforementioned releases following the same 5.1 concept...
A more proper tracklist for the NAS release (until the previous one gets nuked) should be as follows:

01. Main Titles
02. The SPinner
03. Deckard Meets Rachel
04. Rachel's Test
05. Mr Chew's Eye Lab
06. Memories Of Green/The Streets Of Blade Runner/Pris
07. Photo Analysis
08. The Market/Strip Club
09. Love Theme
10. Roy And Pris Reunited
11. Tyrell's Death
12. The Duel
13. Time To Die
14. Rachel Sleeping/Love Theme/End Titles

... but it is not as complete as the "Blade Runner - The Theatrical Version" should be since "Piano Scene Thinking Of Rachel/Memories" is missing to be the full release in question... unfortunately no one has been sharing back that on these forums... :(

The track in the NAS version has a fade at 3:11... in The Theatrical version the track is not faded... the waveforms are the same both in "2019 Edition", "The Theatrical Version" and "NAS Edition"...

Perhaps because the NAS is the Theatrical version?

Perhaps the 3:46 version you are referring to should be the one included in the "2019" Edition?

I cannot answer about the clues that were not left for us... but I might be quite close to a guess of it perhaps...

This is as far as I could get in tracking down this release for the perhaps (un)necessary digital preservation.
All that came after was derived from this version shared in 2003 from the original audio version released privately only.
Some copies might have passed hands of the serious collectors only on eBay and the likes perhaps, but the full audio of this album was never shared for the common mortals.
The audio spectrum of all the versions coming after 2003 is the very same for all of them meaning they were all sourced from this source I’m afraid.
Of all the versions shared via eMule, the first APE version [78:47] decoded to WAV from these mp3's (including the decoder added extra frames eventually transformed into short gaps of silence) to the nice edited FLAC version (without gaps but missing about 30 seconds in the editing)[78:09], to the heavily edited (mostly in gain reduction of the first minutes so to make the rest of the program louder than the original source) Esper MR3 version [78:47] and ending up with the altered stereo image of the more recent Esper Retirement Edition [78:11] in which large parts of the original were removed (and not so effectively) from the original work, none is the true audio original.
The “Blade Runner - November 2019 FX For Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep” bootleg [78:47] was never shared so I cannot tell if they managed to repack a true audio version of it with different covers, but I doubt that.
I'm only left wondering why the same people behind the successful Esper experiment (the second and last one) had not released their source in better quality (wishing someone else to do that as stated in their interview) while most of the people posting around are still so reluctant to share it in the quality this release should deserve.
Enough of this. Here's what we're left.

The credits on the Los Angeles November 2019 album perhaps had better to be as follows:

Original music on tracks 6‚ 7‚ 10‚ 11 and 12 composed and performed by Vangelis.
Additional music on tracks 2 and 8 written and performed by Frank Klepacki.
"Moments In Time" on track 3 written and performed by Meero.
"Harps of the Ancient Temples" on track 9 written and performed by Gail Laughton.
Voice on the Off-World colonies advertisement by Dwight Okahara.

Included in this release the original content as was uploaded on newsgroups (SFV verification file will report CRC mismatches since one of the original uploaders tampered with the mp3 tags) with original cover scans (containing various errors as you might have noticed).
Alternate covers (including the necessary corrections) kindly provided by Synaptyx and Pendor.
A big thank you for the updated artworks!

Hi there,

Great to see all these repackaged, alternative, ultimate and definitive complete retirement editions, but I am always surprised how nobody - but REALLY absolutely nobody - seem to care (or even know) about the fact that there's still one missing BR track that doesn't feature on any official or bootleg or fan effort: I mean the second blimp advert we can hear when Deckard enters the Bradbury and looks at the ceiling.
The evidence is that it's not "Ogi No Mato" by Ensemble Nipponia. Nor any other track from their "Traditional Vocal & Instrumental Music" album. So far, nobody knows what is the name of this track, and who is performing.

I'm afraid as long as we don't have this track, all the so-called "Ultimate Edition" just seem to miss the point, don't we agree?

Hi 1187hunterwasser,
I agree.
I have been through two of Ensemble Nipponia's albums and it doesn't seem to be on them. Without further clues about this track I wouldn't know where else to start looking.
Best wishes, Zhora.

And

Thanks DC for your tireless work :-)

Hi 1187hunterwasser and Zhora,

Are you talking about this second blimp advert?

Second_Blimp_Source.rar (http://www.sendspace.com/file/a1hucv)

Yes, this one.

I've been searching through many channels, including this link (lots and lots to check):

Komuso.com - Recordings : E (http://www.komuso.com/albums/index.pl?title_letter=E)

all to no avail so far.

My thought is that it's not Nipponia, the voice is different. Also, the instrument is not the same as in "Ogi No Mato", it's not a biwa. Sounds more like a shamisen, which is closer to a banjo.

Would be interesting to know what lyrics the woman is actually singing in this excerpt, then maybe it would give us a clue as to the track's title. But sorry I don't speak Japanese...

I've always assumed that the music in that scene was a cue off some Ensemble Nipponia vynil mixed with Vangelis music... but the original music might not even be availiable on cd... and that will be a tricky guessing...
Having said that I can ask a japanese friend and let you know if that might help...

Ogi no mato or 'The Folding Fan as a Target' and the CD it is from 'Traditional Vocal And Instrumental Music JAPAN' is available on official download

Try here:

Not sure. There's a version with Vangelis music only and no Japanese song mixed into it. Must be from 2019 edition.
Also, it seems this song doesn't appear on the two albums Nipponia had released before the making of Blade Runner. And again, not even sure it is Nipponia. The voice doesn't sound like Ayako Handa, Nipponia's singer.

Having said that I can ask a japanese friend and let you know if that might help...

Now that would be fantastic, yes, thank you dadadacicici!

Yeah, just to confirm, that second piece of Japanese music heard when Deckard looks up at the atrium is nowhere to be found on any of the Ensemble Nipponia albums.

Hi Guys

I am trying to find a copy of the DVD from the Esper Retirement Edition. It contains two tracks I have been searching for since the late 90s. They are:

DVD-84 Tilt - Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Dub)
DVD-85 Tilt - Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Vocal Mix)

If anyone has these or can flac them? I dont mind paying for them if i have too.

The japanese contacts have managed to pull out three japanese songs from the movie... with the one you are referring being the third one... That left me with some doubts I'll have to investigate further and let everybody know... they're working on it :)

DVD-84 Tilt - Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Dub)
DVD-85 Tilt - Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Vocal Mix)

Of all the different mixes off the double single cd version and vynil versions only the ones you are after are Vangelis oriented.
Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Vocal Mix) got the wrong name on the Esper Retirement since this version was on vynil and recently included in their "Vaults" cd from 2006.
Correct title is: Invisible (Supernatural Mix) anyway :)

... and one of the best trance tunes ever written if you ask me ;)

Just wanted to express my gratitude for the time and effort put into this post. To me, it's one of the most exciting things I've found on the web. I've been sifting through a lot of these to put together my own "best of" compilation with emphasis on the full pieces of music in the order they appear in the film with minimal sound effects. If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to post it here.
Thanks again, JacKc!!

It's my closest-to-ideal version of a complete BR soundtrack the way it should have been done for the Trilogy 3CD they put out when Final Cut was released.
The file names are in order, but the metadata is for the albums the songs were taken from.
I'm not sure how to change this, so be conscious of it if you're importing to itunes.

Something very similiar was done with the "M presents Music from Movies - Blade Runner" and the "Blade Runner - EMS Recombination" by B5hystoryman (to be posted soon I believe)
As far as the concept goes every effort is good in its own way... but somehow I am appreciating B5hystoryman's final output more than this...

You should have tagged the whole thing as better as possible including a list of the sources.
First thing I did was retagging the whole "tracklist" with the supposed track numbers and disc number, then copying the album tags in the comment field to retain the sources you have used... (finally I was able to enjoy the temporal spacing of the music...) only to find out that fades might need to be applied on some of the cues included.

The approach might be furthered for the better in my opinion... just do not stop at packing some different sources and don't be shy to go ahead and doing it properly if you feel so.
Covers (when included) are always appreciated around here ;)

Good luck though... :)

On a side note, it's a good idea to make a compilation of what for you the Blade Runner soundtrack have to be and then want to share it...But like have said DC (and agreed with him), it would be better to do more than packing some tracks from various sources. Anyway good luck with your project ;)

And yeah, hope the Blade Runner - EMS Recombination by B5historyman will be posted soon...

Best regards,

JacKc.

Would you be interested in re-upping the files with updated metadata/artwork?
Also, if I had better source material for certain tracks, I would have included them without the sound effect transitions and just have each piece complete and separated by silence. If any of you can suggest sources for better versions of certain tracks, please do.
Thanks for the feedback!

Comments :

This edition was sourced both from the 1997 game soundtrack (the audio loops had to be compressed in order to fit in the computer performance capabilities at the time) and the streaming flash version available on the composer's official site.
When using Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoding all the frequencies that are not present in the audio spectrum get filtered out eventually. And these are the only sources we all have.
An official version should be appreciated if ever one day this will come out as a proper cd.
In the meantime this Pendor Edition is one of the best alternative out there if you leave out the 2000's Skinjob release or the 2003's Mazeltov edition of the Westwood game soundtrack, not to mention the several amateur attempts (like the quite good Redux version) of the very same content.
This is a sum of them all according to Pendor.

The audio is taken from the extras on the 4th disc of the Blade Runner Five disc Ultimate collector's edition boxset.
If you expect anything than the dialogue parts that were not used in the official Final Cut version, then you might be after something else.
Not yet-another-version of the soundrack, just the dialogues of the unused scenes in the extras as heard in the added sequences like in the non-official Blade Runner 2008 ADM Extended Alternate Edition are included here.
If you loved more the voiceover version then this is for you.

If you can picture yourself without the much (un)needed new generation of mobile phones trying to watch a movie on a tiny screen while travelling on public transport shutting out the commuters next seat chatting up their fiancee best friend or discussing the latest braveries of the preferred reality of the month you might find this quite a wicked release.
The movie without the visuals for the ultimate blind cinematic experience.
Music from Vangelis et all with all the characters of the movie popping in and out as heard in the Official Final Cut by Ridley Scott.

Comments :

This release shares the same audio content as in the preceding P-104 V reissue with an updated dynamic range but with a different (perhaps more clever) track indexing of the original 2003 version shared on newsgroups.
Properly edited to restore the original feel and normalized to better enjoy the listening experience of this clever ambient work of the two un-named guys under the Esper Productions moniker. Used and abused on what followed after.
The Esper team has managed to write something on history books with their alternate vision of the Blade Runner universe pasting characteristic sounds of the 1997 game soundtrack in it.

Esta versin "2010 Reissue" S est basada en los originales (APE) de 2003.
Total Disc Time (2003 Original): 1:18:47:40
Total Disc Time (2010 Reissue): 1:18:47:13

A bit early for the Happy New Year wishes... but I'll probably be basking on a couple of crates of brown beer by tomorrow night... then I might be recovering and cursing those fine belgian bottles for another day at least :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
It's been quite a nice year in this thread and hopefully it will be also in the year to come ;)
There's still plenty to upload!

Does anyone know if there are clean (no sound-effects) versions of Animoid Row, Taffey Lewis' Nightclub, and Salome's Dance? I know I've heard a version of Salome's Dance that was really close to being a clean, full version, but it had some crowd noise at the beginning.

Hello everybody. A little later than originally promised but I hope it's been worth the effort. I would ask that when you download it, you please take the time to read the dedication. It is important to me and Jackc and dadadacicici that you do. I hope you all appreciate the sentiments. Please also read the project document as well it has my thanks and an explanation of the motivation behind the project

Hi Zero Flyer, when you read the project flyer it pretty much explains the whole project. The tracks selected by me were worked on by a sound engineer to ensure the best quality from all sources available to me. I also had a slight crash course in sound myself as I am a total amateur. I hope this answers your question?

You've done a man's job sir ;)

Thanks a lot for that!

One of the cleverest compiling of tracks off the more recent web-based newly-sourced Blade Runner releases (Vincente's "The Sound Of Blade Runner", Spiderwalk's "Complete Score" and Plimmy's "The Final Mix" among others) and the classic vintage sources plus some remixes (if you wish to call so the unique tracks included to this release). To top it all, a nice set of covers designed by Jack!
As you would usually expect from him... he delivered the goodies again ;)

Must be some another replicant pretending to be me though! :)

I have just finished listening to the EMS Recombination and I am really impressed. Fantastic job b5historyman, dadadacicici and JacKc, thank you. This needs to be heard in its full glory though so any chance to have it uploaded in flac on the lossless thread? Also, on the project flyer b5historyman mentions CD labels but they are not included, is it possible to have them added to the superb artwork by any chance?

Animoid Row is actually called 'Looking For Snake Maker Part', according to the list of official cue titles from BMI. This has never been available clean.
Taffey Lewis' Nightclub is officially called 'Chinatown Club'; I made a clean DVD rip of this cue and can share it w/ you if you're interested (it's in 320-bit mp3 format).
Salome's Dance is unofficially available on several bootlegs, but only as an incomplete track.

I posted a compilation before, but it wasn't quite done yet.
I found a program to edit the metadata tags. I added a couple tracks and changed the order a bit. I made cover art for both discs and embedded it in the files.

This is my most preferred version of the soundtrack so far, and it's probably the most complete as far as music from the film. No Rachel's Song or Blush Response. Minimal SFX and dialogue.
More than a few people downloaded the last version, so I hope more enjoy this one.

I'm not sure this was the thread I found the links for the files I'm commenting on within, so I hope you'll please bear with me: I finally got the last file of the 4.2GB multipart Depositfiles DVD-Audio spanning RARs from either this or another BR thread here a little over half and hour ago, and tested it- it's pure. I mean, the files are quite intact; with the speed (or lack of it) that all 6 of the chunks of RARs moved at- took a little over three days off-and-on- I expected a possible glitch during the transfer, but it turned out fine. I recall Zhora (waves to the Replicant!) being particularly curious about it, and since she's posting in this thread (if it isn't the right one, per se) I thought I'd let her, as well as anyone else who was curious, know what I'd found so far. I haven't exploded the file (just tested it for CRC) so I can't comment on the quality of the media as of yet. That will come in the next couple of days. It's a Nero NRG, but probably easily converted to ISO format (presuming a body uses a PC... I don't know enough about modern Macintosh media standards, I'm afraid, so I could easily be incorrect) if that's not your writeprogram of choice.

Anyhow, that's that. Peace!

No worries; I'm sorry it didn't come sooner. though I'm glad you managed the patience to do the deed in the meantime. Love those 'power' buttons on one's DSL modem when you use free filesites a lot. :) I managed to clear off some space between my last post and this one, and I'm planning on testing a burn later on today... cripes, I stayed up _way_ too late. Good thing my 'early morning' for the week won't hit for another day. :)

... if I'm getting three of the nails Roy Batty puts into his hands I'm done really...
The thread has let out the monsters... and the monsters are getting back to the thread...
I'll be glad to get fixed on a nice cross provided that the nails are not rusted anyway...
I've just sent a mail to the address you have provided!
I'll try to help... as I'm also trying to help with the Zelmo Swift project...
The same advice I'm giving everybody here is to work on the lossless sources and on the bluray rips and work out proper fades since most of the BR related material around including the official one is often sequenced (like the Esper way) or mixed (like the25th anniversary Trilogy way)... otherwise a nice .m3u file with sources included will work the same effect really...
Then you might decide to sequence the whole thing, but you will need some proper cues to start with really.
I'm aware of different people doing the same at the moment and some are managing to work out some nice alternatives as I could hear... I will strongly advice to join forces as it happened for the EMS project in case... it's no fun working on your own...
The preview you have posted is a good start... let's hear what is coming next!
PM's will only work after you have posted more than 1 message anyway! ;)

Maybe it's just coincidence, but I was working on this compilation before I heard about EMS. I really do appreciate the work put into it, and some of the tracks on EMS are probably the best-sounding, most complete ones yet. This is just a collaborative project for fun, not necessarily to be considered a "real" release.

Hi Zelmo, when I first started the EMS Recombination project last year, it was for my own amusement. When I started working with DC and Jack that's when the project became more serious as I thought we could offer something different that the fans might appreciate: a BR score without dialogue/fx. A fuller explanation is given in the project flyer. Your own selectiont is unique to you as you've taken a different approach to me.

Perhaps the 1997 Westwood Game did not really need any extra official presentation to push the game on the market, nonetheless this resulted in a big selling club hit updating further Vangelis' End Titles theme to the club culture.
It was not the first nor the last in the series. Do Replicants Dream Of Electronic Beats? All the tunes largely traded by the die-hard Blade Runner collectors in a similar package adding up also a bonus track not included on the (un)official Pendor Release of 2010 and only available on the vynil version.

This edition was neither sourced from the 1997 game soundtrack nor from the streaming flash version available on the composer's official site. Where it did came from we cannot tell. Perhaps a clever attempt by a quite skilled Blade Runner fan on the europen side of the emisphere or another go by the composer himself at the game soundtrack. Which is not very likely to be so...
Not necessarily bad if not cleverly good. This is Frank Klepacki's music as you haven't heard it yet. Just be content with what is freely given if you wish. Again, an official version should be appreciated if ever one day this will come out as a proper cd. In the meantime this Pendor Edition is a pretty good surrogate to it.
El seor Pendorito ha hecho otra vez! Muchas gracias!

This is a fine example of how you might combine the existing sources into something different... a nice blended DJ mix of different Vangelis melodies...
"Memories of Green" (taken from the album "See You Later"), "Desolation Path", "Love Theme" (to name the Blade Runner related music cues included) and other beautiful and melancholic (not strictly Blade Runner related) atmospheric cues such as "Memory of Antarctica" (from the album "Antarctica"), "Memories of Blue" (from the album "Oceanic") and "Main Theme from Missing" (from the album "Missing").
Well done Sr. Max Power!

Sorry to bother everyone. I've been doing some looking around, trying to find a good download of Blade Runner: Esper 'Retirement' Edition (2007) consisting of 6 discs (5 CD-DA + 1 DVD-Rom). I've fruitlessly searched in all the usual places, and came across ffs in the process. Having worked my way through a lot of threads on here I'm still unable to find a good link. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be extremely grateful!
[On a side note: it was the tag dadadacicici "blade runner" which lead me here, so thank you dadadacicici!]

You were on a really good trail then!
I trust you'll find the right way going back to page 10 http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/blade-runner-soundtracks-ultimate-thread-72496/10.html#post1497139
This is different (I would say better in its own way) from the original release which suffers from bad indexing.
Also the Los Angeles November 2019 version appears to be fixed and as long in lenght as it should have been (more or less)... if you go through this first you might be slighty disappointed with the original one which is to be found here: Thread 75274
Also there you might find the fixes Pendor has been doing to the original release... watch out for disc 6 DVD9 version of it! ;)

Good luck! :)

Hey thanks very much, I'm in the process of downloading the page 10 version. My main difficulty really was trying to distinguish which versions to choose - I think, for now, you've answered that question for me! On my search yesterday I also got copies of of the 2019 Edition and Esper MR3, so I'll spend a few happy days working through everything (and seeding away!)

Thanks again.

Hi guys, is there a program which will burn mp3's which mix into each other seamlessly i.e. without annoying split second gap? Is it better to convert to wav before burning?

Hi guys, is there a program which will burn mp3's which mix into each other seamlessly i.e. without annoying split second gap? Is it better to convert to wav before burning?

You'll be better decoding to wav first and then burning the wav's to disc without gaps technically... but you can arrange a compilation of mp3's and most software will be able to decode to wav on the fly and provided that you are not doing anything else on the computer while burning you should not have any glitches in the resulting wav...

Seamlessy? You might instruct some software to mix the end of a track into the beginning of the next one... CDArchitect for example it will let you specify how many ms you want to crossfade betwenn tracks... Always keep in ming that every mp3 encoder will add a number of frames to the original content at the start and at the end... usually 40 ms... so you will need to take note of that plus add a couple of 5-10 ms to be on the safe side even if it might not be needed... if uncertain mount a virtual cd (or burn with a cdrw) and check with your player...

Having said that... why on earth you should want to burn mp3 on cd?

Most players are capable of reading mp3 nowadays...

Any particular release you wish to burn to get the desidered result?

If you're trying to make an audio CD from the mp3s (and don't mind the poor quality) then you can use Foobar 2000 with the burninate plugin. You won't get gaps with that.

Hi dadadacicici! I always burn mp3 to cd where there is no lossless alternative. I shamefully listen to everything on a crappy ghetto blaster which doesn't support mp3. Don't like listening from pc or mp3 player. I'm a bit hard of hearing in my left ear so don't like headphones! Foobar seems to be the way to go as suggested by el silloneb and the great Synaptyx! Thenks for the feedback DC!

Foobar seems to be the way to go as suggested by el silloneb and the great Synaptyx!

Foobar gets better by the day really! I forgot about the added plug-ins capabilities. I remember adding a cd-text plugin once... then the new stable release included it by default...
I will still use CDArchitect as it will suit me better for the work in the studio.

I shamefully listen to everything on a crappy ghetto blaster which doesn't support mp3.

And do not be ashamed of the crappy ghetto blaster... I love them!
Mine is 15 years old old but she's leaving me :(
I still listen to the finished audio on that! If it sounds all right on that crappy speakers... it will sound good on the bigger PA!

Well, if there's any lossy release related to this thread that you wish to have in lossless post a request for it and we might see if we can help! ;)

What's the difference between the "Sound of Blade Runner: Definitive Edition" and the "Esper Retirement Edition"?

The Sound of Blade Runner Definitive Edition is not mixed... it sounds better... and it sounds different since it was wickedly edited. On some regards it is a completely different listening experience.
The Esper Retirement Edition is mixed/sequenced... it does not sound so good compared to the former (though it does sound good)... it suffers from bad indexing of the tracks... the first track is maimed... but it does sound as you would expect from an Esper release... plus it includes most of the music about Blade Runner you'll ever want to listen to in 18 hours in a row... more complete in its own way...

Have a look in the previous posts and feel free to let us know how you rate them! ;)

It cannot be said much about this release. Whoever took care (and a great one) of that, perhaps got his work forgotten in the overwhelming amount of releases circulating at the time, or somehow this version just did not grab the attention it might have deserved.
Still moderately circulating on cdr in a semi-official form among collectors.
Most interesting has to be the use of the dialogue in between the cues.
To the unknown maker of this go our belated thanks and all the credits for the work done.
A slightly enhanced version of the original artwork has also been included.

Comments :

Somehow when people just cannot get hold of something presumed to be good, the object of desire quickly gets to rank of stuff of legend.
This had to be one of those rare example and we wish one of the few that had still to be uncovered from collection vaults contained within concrete fire-walls as it seemed to the most.
At a time repackaged as Nas Private Release with a track missing (Photo Analysis) and another track (Tyrell's Death) swapped with the version included in the soundtrack Outtakes (The Prodigal Son Brings Death), this is the full deal of the original if you were wondering.
Somehow I am inclined to believe the Nas Private release a workprint for this Theatrical Version and the subsequent Expanded Score on the 2019 Edition, but that we will never guess, unless they will tell us so.
Original artwork provided, but when the included recreated replica gets better than the original, we really owe to thank the hard work of the graphic conspirator.
Special thanks to JacKc for the covers and the fixes... and to Zhora for having brought to everybody's attention the 2019 Edition, which from this release has originated, (most likely from the very same individuals).

Question...

I want a Blade Runner soundtrack with the best quality, sans dialogue, and pretty much just the music in the movie, no remixes or anything. I just downloaded the 25th Anniversary Edition and didn't like it.

What do you guys suggest?

You should wait for "The 29th Anniversary Edition" to be released soon if you want to go for completeness (though not the best quality)... or get the "EMS Recombination" (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/blade-runner-soundtracks-ultimate-thread-72496/18.html#post1604062) which has the best quality of most Blade Runner releases since it was assembled off the best sources avaliable... the "Blade Runner Complete Score" (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/blade-runner-soundtracks-ultimate-thread-72496/9.html#post1494001) by Spiderwalk is another really good bet as far as completeness and quality. :)

Apologies to all who are downloading this, but the Blimp track is missing from the upload on CD2. I will upload it again
Here is the link below. Once again I apologise my friends for the oversight. If there are any problems pleae pm me

A huge round of applause and thanks to all those who put this together. I have just one things to point out -- it might sound better with a version of Leon's Room (On the Trail of Nexus 6) without the rain SFX. I say this because the next track-- the harp/bicycle track-- is the version without rain (although I see the alternate version with rain is on the extras cd).

I would exhaust myself and run out of space if I could say how much I appreciate the efforts and enthusiasm for sharing on the part of all the Vangelis and BR fans and collectors here. I bought the '94 OST in about '96, and here I am 15 years later finally getting a proper soundtrack. Well, 12 actually, but I am most likely going to make a 1-cd cut of the EMS Recombination (+Wait for Me) for regular listening.

For that purpose, it would be wonderful to get a lossless of the EMS. Someone requested it on around page 6 or 7 of the lossless thread, but I don't know if it's been requested here (or whether it's possible for all the tracks).

thanks thanks thanks!

Or, in lieu of that, it would also be interesting to know which tracks come from where (for the uninitiated like me). The lossless thread has most of the source material in flac/ape (though I know you made many significant improvements to the sources).

This is a little OT, but I spent the day listening to the albums I've downloaded from the two soundtrack threads, and I thought I would share a 1-cd version that I put together for casual listening. It hits all of the themes (of the film AND the '94 OST) with a few exceptions: 'one more kiss' and the Japanese tracks (wish I had some 30-second short versions of those two and the Esper SFX to layer in... some other day). The deckard/batty confrontation is also shortened. A few songs are totally missing: Roy's room and Esper analysis (since they are duplicates of some themes heard elsewhere), also Deckard's dream and Tyrell's death sequences, since they really benefit from the context of what's on screen and don't stand so well as music on their own. I didn't know where to put Damask Rose; opinions vary, but I thought that after Zhora's death makes sense because of the musical cues. The album is without SFX or vocals, with the exception of 'blush response' -- which I can't find a clean version of.

I took tracks from a few places to get the lengths and transitions right. I listened to this several times. I'm quite happy with it, and it might save someone else the work of trying to get a 1-cd version without barbarizing the score. It clocks in at 82 minutes. I will refrain from duplicating by posting the source files for now to avoid stepping on the toes of the original compilers, unless they say that it's fine to post it here.

Divided into Five Acts, more or less. I'm interested if others have thoughts about this track ordering/choice and if they've tried to do this too. I find the other 1-cd editons too selective.

Okay, so I've now listened to the Retirement & 25th Anniversary editions, but, I'm looking for a clean-sounding edition that only features the music from the movie, and not any new material or remixes.

I want something that resembles most complete score bootlegs, like those for Jerry Goldsmith soundtracks, or other official leaks. Now granted, I know that Blade Runner is a special case because no such "official" version of the score has ever been leaked, but is there something that sounds like it?

So... which edition is the most, definitive, complete version that most closely resembles what appears in the final film?

I'm also looking for descriptions or break-downs on what some of these editions actually are, and what they include:

- The Sound of Blade Runner
- 2019 Complete Theatrical Score
- SpiderWalk Compilation
- EMS Recombination
- 29th Anniversary Edition

Also, I'd just like to thank everyone involved for posting all of this music. It's so nice to know that there are dedicated fans out there who enjoy music as much as I do (with, admittedly better skills at music mixing and composition)

That will be the "Blade Runner Complete Score" as arranged by Spiderwalk then. (Though I would stick to EMS Recombination for something more artistic within the range of completeness as an ideal companion to it...)

I'm also looking for descriptions or break-downs on what some of these editions actually are, and what they include:

- The Sound of Blade Runner

Edited and assembled from the soundrack Outtakes and the audio extracted from the HDDVD plus other sources. It has some wicked additions not present in the original music if you are ready to accept a fresh change on the same subject.

- 2019 Complete Theatrical Score

First compilation in the serie of the audio extracted from the dvd. Cues presented not necessarily as they appear in the movie since some elements were pushed forward to get a complete different perception on the music. You might note some emphasis on some atonal cues here.

- Blade Runner Complete Score by SpiderWalk

See above. The most complete in the pureness regard you are looking for.

- EMS Recombination

Same concept of pureness but a furthered artistic perception on the music presented in the movie. Some cues are only to be heard here.

- 29th Anniversary Edition

Well, let's go public then. Nearly finished working on that anyway. I will have to manage the finished touches in between walking a 2 years old rascal to the park and the usual hide and seek games typical of the age... top priority I'm afraid...
What I have done is attempting to re-remastering the Off World cues (which are the more pure and complete) but the sound quality was what it was so I could not do miracles though it is sounding not too bad.
I have been adding the hell out of the DVD extracted audio topping nearly 3 cd and touching completeness in the process. I chose not to change any cues for better versions as presented in other releases. You already have that if you wish. As I said I need some time to sit down and listening to it. Previews will then be sent to people of the forum to make it final. Oh... I am still waiting for a source off a Cd mailed from US! ;)

LINK!?

Very soon! In the next two weeks everything will be finally here! :)
Then? What will we be sharing?

The only advice I would give is to keep that within the range of the 79 minutes for a cd edition, but would you wait for the "Chinatown Club", "Ultimate MR3" and "29th Anniversary Edition" to reconsider all your sources?
I believe you might have a better perception of the whole when the last pieces willl be in place. Just that for the moment.

Certainly, I am looking forward to the Chinatown Club and 29th Ann editions and I consider this a perpetual work-in-progress. I didn't know there is an ultimate MR3 coming, that sounds great. I like MR3 a lot although it is hard to pull tracks from it because it's so tightly mixed (the same reason it's hard to stop without listening to the whole thing...). I think 82 min is safe enough for any 80min CD overburn... it will be hard if I have to pull 3 more minutes off, but it could be done by switching from full tracks to film versions. I think that would detract from listening however; it would be better to just sacrifice one whole song... now, which one...

I will revisit this subject when the 29th Ann + Chinatown Club + Ultimate MR3 are out. Best of luck in your work, a lot of people are cheering you on from far away...

Guys, I keep noticing this problem on Blade Runner CD covers:

There is a problem with Phil Steinschneider's Blade Runner font. Specifically with the kerning of the capital "L" character that creates the merged "LA" character. Whether this is Phil's fault, or some weirdness that Photoshop produces, I don't know.

To fix this, in photoshop, select the capital "L" character that creates the merged "LA" character and in the character dialogue box increase the extra kerning of this character alone to 1 (should be at zero to begin with) do not select 10 from the drop down, just type a 1 in the box.

Et voil!

So on the SpiderWalk complete score, why is it divided into 2 discs? I take it the first disc is the complete film score, as it ends with the End Titles song. So then what's on the second disc? Is it bonus songs that are alternate edits, or songs that were unused but made for the film? Or are they new compositions done in the same style?

But if they do belong in the film, why are they on a separate disc? Could someone post a chronological order of the songs, with both discs mixed with each other?
