I know a lot of us here collect toys, and I know it is a huge pain in the butt when you know something's out but you can't find it anywhere in the stores around here. I've kept an eye out for things for a couple members here before, and I was wondering if maybe we could turn it into something bigger?
People could post lists of the toys they're currently looking for, and if people see stuff on the list in the stores around them, they could try to work something out via sending money for stuff and then shipping it to that person?
Obviously, people aren't going to be willing to send you money if you're some person nobody knows, but there are so many toy collectors that I know pretty well here already, so I think we could work something out. :)
So would people be up for this? Y/N? If people seem interested, I will get to posting my list. :)

That could be cool Ndi!
I've been wondering if a toy thread in itself would be cool for a while. There's a lot of things I see I like that aren't Transformers, like that Ninja Turtle figure I posted, but there's no real place to post that stuff here.
I always see Ponies around here, wondering if you have them
At FFS, we are nerdcore

Maybe we could just have a general epic toy thread (like the transformers one) and post stuff we're searching for in it too?
I love seeing stuff like the Ninja Turtles figure you posted, and I have so much fun getting nerdy over toys, so I'd be happy to see and talk about anything people would post. :)

Do you collect anything besides the ponies, or is that pretty much it?
Marceline
12-04-2007, 07:40 PM
I wouldn't say I collect anything aside from ponies right now. The last thing I was buying full sets of before this were when the SD Gundams were out. I do buy other toys I think are cute and neat, but I don't follow what's new or try and complete sets as much.
If this thread works out I imagine it'll be pretty tempting to, though. :)

I think he looks neat in the pictures, but I haven't had any luck finding him in stores. Usually the stores around me are just full of the movie toys and that makes me sad, especially since I hate the way Bumblebee looked in the movie. I wish I lived closer to a Toys R Us because they never disappoint me selection wise.
Here's something Merl and I have noticed and I'm curious if it's true for other people- our Walmart never seems to have any DC characters when it comes to comic toys. Our Target, which is maybe a one minute drive away from the Walmart, always has plenty of Batman and Superman stuff, and sometimes more. Is this just a weird fluke or does Walmart hate them some DC comics?
I'd be up for it, but at the moment I don't really have any money to spend on buying toys so I can't really participate for a while. I can't afford to pick stuff up for people or to pay them for stuff they find for me until probably after December, and honestly the only thing I want at the moment is MP Starscream anyway.

The current DC Superhero action figures are hard to come by in general Ndi. People all over have a hard time tracking them down. My local Wal-Mart has them, as does the one I went to in Atlanta, but it's always the same figure, the Superman with a weird head piece, or the orange Doomsday. It's just a line with crappy distribution sadly. Knowing this, it's a very scalper friendly line. Since they're not eas to find, the people that run around late at night when Wal-Mart stocks or Target first thing in the morning or right before closing time when shelves are fresher buy up everything they find to sell online or in their comic shops for double/triple the price.
The real problem really is that the company just doesn't pack the cases well. Mattel does that! They ruined the recent He-Man line with their distribution. They packed tons and tons of the random He-Man and Skeletor repaints, and made the individual characters impossible to find. The repaints, Jungle Attack He-Man and Ice-Frenzy Skeletor and all that crap, clogged up the shelves, and the stores couldn't order any more, and thus sales went down, and the line got cancelled.

Okay, so here are the things I'm looking for. It's a lot because right now the stores near me fail at getting in ponies. Hopefully next time I can get out to look, there will be more!
Anyways I'm still hoping most of these will show up soon so no one needs to go out and try to get them for me, but if you do pay attention to ponies, I am curious if you have any of these guys in your stores yet. The winter ones are the only ones I really want to find right away, but I think I'm taking the DCIs for the two I need with me next time we go out that way so I can make sure I can get the whole set.
Okay, pictures!

I'm for your idea, Mandi.
I'll go look at the mall near my workplace if I have time. I'll let you know if I see anything. Hasbro stuff are quite easy to find over here.
(Ironically, my workplace is located on the same floor and the same building as that of the local Hasbro office. However, I have never socialized with their staff).
As for me, well, as most people here probably already knows, I collect some Care Bears and Kellytoy Strawberry Shortcake plushes (among many other random toys, mostly plushes). Right now I'm looking for the few remaining 8-inch beanies that I don't have yet from the New Care Bears line and a Lemon Merengue and Raspberry Torte plush (and a few others) from the Kellytoy Strawberry Shortcake line.
As for the last toys bought, I just finished binging on eBay on some Care Bears cousins.
One more request: If anyone's going Christmas shopping soon, can they please check if the Nintendo DS game "Strawberry Shortcake: The Four Seasons Cake" is selling at your nearby game shop? I seem to have a bit of problem locating said game online. NCSX cancelled my order because their suppliers are not carrying it and it's not showing up on eBay. I ended up buying it off YesAsia.

The christmas ponies are already sold out there, but they have the regular ones. Usually I don't have a problem getting everything from a normal set, it's the holidays I have trouble with. Every once in awhile a pony escapes me, though (I never found that one sparkly pony I linked you to ages ago).
I wish I was near a Toys R Us! Last time I was there they were selling $3 ponies.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
12-10-2007, 05:30 AM
Not exactly a knock off, as knock offs are pretty much illegal copies or remolds of actual trademarked toys. These were original toys, but produced cheaply. The way they were made was definitely a copy of the GI Joe: Real American Hero style, but obviously it wasn't any threat to Hasbro as they still exist on shelves today. The style of them has changed a lot though. They seem to be more realistically sculpted military style figures now rather than the slightly cartoony military/sci fi mix GI Joe RAH has. When Hasbro released a new line of RAH toys around 2001 though, they featured a new style of articulation, which the CORPS figures suddenly showed up with too, so they're definitely still trying to contend and keep up with whatever Hasbro is doing.

Oh, you mean scalper mark ups eh. Shouldn't bother counting those. That's why you can't find any, people are buying them up to sell back for more money. It's definitely a hard to find line, largely because of scalping, but between Wal-Mart and Target I've managed to find a decent amount of them for retail. Not all, such as Flint, but most.
$7-9 isn't bad though considering what some people are paying on eBay for a single carded figure. 20 bucks and more, it's crazy.
What 4 pack color variants are you talking about?
Vastalis
12-10-2007, 08:25 AM
Sorry, I mean 5 pack.
The color variant is the pack with "Gold head" Destro. I forgot how the others looked, but I think Baroness had a purple outfit, and also the "Hooded" version of Cobra Commander.
Lunchbox McGillicuddy
12-10-2007, 08:31 AM
Do you just mean that?
I'm not aware of any version of it where they're painted differently. There's a second set called Cobra Legions though where Storm Shadow is painted in his modern Valor Vs. Venom scheme and Cobra Commander is black, plus some different troopers.
The hooded Cobra Commander is single carded. The Destro with a gold head is a single carded San Diego Comic Con exclusive, and there's the 2nd caped one coming out single carded now.
Most of the ones in the 5 packs are getting released separately as well, for some reason, but most of them are unchanged. So far I don't think there's been a single carded Baroness though.

It's not just regional. It's not quite a sale, it's just clearance to clear old stock, and all stores do this. It is however on a store by store basis - some have the clearance that deep, some don't. This is apparently pretty widespread though.
Since it's clearance, it doesn't really end - it just sits around till it's gone or they send it back to the company to make room for new product

Cool, Thanks.
So they're bringing out 3 Vehicles:
Cobra Hiss w/Cobra Driver
G.I. Joe A.W.E Striker w/Crankcase
G.I. Joe Night Specter w/Grand Slam - I used to have the v1. S.H.A.R.C w/Deep Six.
Depending on the price, The Cobra H.I.S.S is probably the only one I'll get unless they bring out the v1 S.H.A.R.C version.
I just remembered another toy line I used to get as a kid.
Do you guys remember the original M.U.S.C.L.E (Kinikuman) figures?
I used to have a bunch, but now I only have one that I found when I moved. I painted it and turned it into a Key Chain.
Or how about Monster In My Pocket?
I had a few of those too. My favorite figure of my collection was The Hunchback. As most of my toys as a kid, I don't have any of them left.
They're all probably buried somewhere all around my old house. :notgood:

BUMP!!!
I might as well bump this to show all the Legendary Comic Book Heroes Series:

This is the Pitt series which includes: Ripclaw, Witchblade, Super Patriot, Savage Dragon, Madman (Freakazoid is a ripoff of Madman) , and Judge Dread.
Each figure contains an additional piece for a bigger figure - in this case Pitt w/ Timmy.
So far, I have them all except Ripclaw and Judge Dread. Hopefully I'll find them. If not, I'll try and find the individual Pitt pieces on Ebay - It's pretty much why I'm collecting them in the first place.

This is the 2nd line, The Monkeyman series.
This set includes: Star, The Darkness, Stryker, Ann O'Brian, Marv, Madman v2, and Judge Death.
Just like the Pitt series, each figure contains a piece to build Ann's partner Monkeyman.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb240/vastalis/AnnOBrienVariant.jpghttp://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb240/vastalis/JudgeDeathVariant.jpg
This series contains 2 figure with variants. Ann O'Brian, and Judge Death.
I have both Judge Deaths, only 'cause I found them on clearance.
If you look at O'Brian, she closely resembles Jillian Anderson from X-Files.
What sucks is that I like the Monkeyman figures more, but Pitt is one of my favorite characters.
What to do!?
The next series are 2 double-packs:

Body Bags: Clownface and Panda
and

Conan vs. Wrarrl
I would love to get both sets, but as of now, they're pretty expensive so I'm willing to wait.
After seeing the level of detail they put for these figures - almost as good as McFarlane Toys, I can't wait to see what other figures they come out with.

Oh man, you're gonna hate me when I tell you this!
I went to Walmart today, and I just snagged:
Super Patriot masked variant.
Savage Dragon "wife beater" variant
Madman - I got it for my nephew.
Witchblade - Got this 'cause it includes Pitt's upper torso which alone looks like a bust.
and
Judge Dread
for $5 bucks each!!!
Now I only need Ripclaw and I'll complete the set! :D
I would've sold them out just so I can get the Pitt pieces and give the figures to my nephew, but I also had to buy some Motor Oil and Power Steering Fluid.
I left them with a Super Patriot unmasked variant, 2 Savage Dragons - both variants, and a Madman.

LOL!
I was like that too.
My friends and I would snag all kinds of collectables, and when we got home, we would look at our stash and fight the temptation to open them.
One time my friend actually did, and I was like "You're stupid, you know how much that's worth".
He's like: "Hey, it's not like we're trying to make a profit with the stuff we collect. We're fans, and I don't know about you, but I'm never gonna sell my stuff"!
We always talk about this, and it made me question my reason for collecting stuff.
I started collecting because I was a fan, and I wanted stuff that I thought was cool to have.
As time went on, I met a friend who was a true collector, and after I described my collections, he began telling me that they were worth money, and showed me some price guides. I was in shock, because my stuff was worth about $500 - $600 bucks. This soon turned me from collecting stuff that I like, to collecting stuff that's worth money - regardless whether I liked it or not.
Finally, I started looking at my collection, and began wondering: "Why the hell do I even have half of this stuff, I don't even like most of this crap"
So I began trading stuff at conventions.
I've traded most of the crap except for the stuff I shelled out a lot of money for.
I'm not gonna let someone get a bargain on me.

ongrats on getting a pony, RAMChYLD. What is her dancing like? I haven't ever seen her out of the box.
Well, she doesn't really dance (as those videos on youtube will tell you). Apparently, Hasbro's definition of dancing is "choreographed movement of mouth, head, tail and occasionally, the skirt". So yeah, all she does is just stand there, sing, turns her head every so often, move her tail and shakes her skirt every now and then. I bought it more for the musical enjoyment than for the dancing tho, so it's good. (I really liked all the songs I saw on the German version featured on Youtube and was curious about how the songs are like in English, if they are the same songs at all).

Penguin, I want to live in your room.
My mini-figures:
The Big O (A wonderful set by the masters at Kotobukiya.)
Final Fantasy IX
The Lord of the Rings
Lupin III (...I need more Lupin toys.)
My plushies (because every girl needs them):
Those Sonic dolls are really old...I'm surprised they haven't disintegrated by now.
Anyway, I have a few McFarlane sets as well but they're all boxed up in my closet at the moment. When I get some more shelf space I'll set them up.

Good quality plushies can really last. I have a plush dog from when I'm born (which is roughly 26 years ago), and it's still mostly solid (except that it's been practically ripped apart and put together again a few times in it's life, and it's cotton stuffings has become very stiff).

They just don't make them like they used to. I just noticed peeling paint on the eyes of my Jumbo Cheer Bear this morning (it's the new 2007 model, barely a few months old). Either that or it can't take the high humidity climate >.>
My toys:

My "babies" (computers) on the east corner of my room. Pretty much most of them are hand-me-downs upgraded like mad and/or had been my main machine at one point in time.

A majority of my Care Bears stuff fits into these two cubbyholes in my new cupboard.

Top hole holds the first 10 Care Bears (2004 Play Along Toys reissue however, 5 talking and 5 non-talking), all 3 2007-reissued sing-along pals, a smart check-up Tenderheart and a Share-A-Story Share Bear.

Second hole holds all 15 (according to Play-Along Toys' collectors list) 2007-reissued bears in beanie forms, and 6 cousins (Loyal Heart Dog, Proud Heart Cat, Gentle Heart Lamb, Brave Heart Lion, Lotsa Heart Elephant and Swiftheart Rabbit) in various sizes (Loyal Heart, Proud Heart, Brave Heart and Lotsa Heart are 13", Gentle Heart is 10" and Swift Heart is 8").

Strawberryland! I have beanies of most of the characters (made by Kellytoy) and their pets (made by Ban-Dai), 13" Custard and Pupcake plushes (both by Kellytoy), two talking Strawberries (by Ban-Dai), a talking voice-recognition enabled Apple-Dumplin (by Ban-Dai), Honey Pie, Orange Twist and Milkshake fillies (by Kellytoy), and a talking Spot the Dog plush by Kids Gift thrown in for good measure.

The main space of the cupboard is occupied by various ride-on toys (including a talking and singing Lumpy the Heffalump rocker without the rocking base buried somewhere inside), a Squawkers Macaw, A large Spot plush, the Sing and Dance Pinkie Pie, a large plush Clifford that barks.

The cupboards. What you saw inside was the cupboard to the left. The one to the right holds way more plushies inside. It wouldn't be wise to open it as the plushies might pour out in an avalanche.
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/8338/22051231192a3d17a0a5oyr3.jpghttp://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5126/220511935506a1c5b5daotv7.jpg
Top of the cupboards. Yes, DDR:SSC dance mat. Yes, Powertouch. Yes, Genesis clone. Yes, dead PSOne.

My bed, yarly, seriously. I sleep with jumbo Spot, Cheer Bear, Share Bear and Strawberry Shortcake plushies. The gargantuan Strawberry, tho, usually sleeps on the chair in front of my computers :P
And yes, Baby Strawberry Shortcake mobile. The reason for that being there is rather twisted, complicated, and involves my aunt failing to record the premiere airing of a new episode of the show for me.

My 26-year-old wonder plush, grubby ol' Rufferto "Ruff" Aniandres XXVIII.

The Strawberry Shortcake Sweet Talk Playset. I got part of it locally, but had to eBay the rest in from the UK. It's a RFID-based toy that is capable of detecting whatever related action figures you place on the base and trigger the appropriate voice clips.

A wider view. Yes, I was (and still somewhat) collecting Tuneyville Choo-Choos. Started about a year ago.

DS, meet V.Smile.

More ride on toys, an Actimates D.W. (excellent alarm clock, that), a Care Bears musical box, and a V.Tech Sort & Learn Van that I felt inclined to buy because of that cute puppy on it.

The Aero-RAMChYLD Imperial. Picked it up cheap, but the music box has been changed from the Spot one to a generic one that plays "Where oh where has my little dog gone".

A Furreal Friends Butterscotch Pony. Because I can't resist a large robotic pony that I can ride on. Too bad it's legs can't really move tho.

So I ordered Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" off of Amazon the other day (and received it much quicker than I thought ;)) I began to ponder on the whereabouts of the Dragon Maleficent plush-doll I purchased sometime ago back at Disneyland around '00 or '01.
So...since my parents went to their usual party spot for the weekend; Wendover (or as we call it "Poor man's Las Vegas") I decided to do some detective work. I went upstairs into the crawlspace and upon initial inspection I was apalled to find my Dragon Maleficent plushdoll ontop of a crudely packed gateway box, with no protection from heat, or water-damage at all.
I was a little miffed since that thing cost me like $30-50 at the Disney toy store at Disneyland. Luckily though the most damage was dust spots, some hairs, and nothing too serious.
Also during my inspection I came across my old VR-Troopers canine plushie pal "Jeb", who says things like "Atta boy", and "Virtual Reality is cool." I got him at a KB Toys in California (I swear that's where all of the rarest toys are found :()
Lastly, aside from a large collection of closet bunnies (that looked like roadkill from years of cramped boxed contortion and neglect) I came across these!
My Nintendo Promotional beanies that Babages (Now Gamestop) was selling for a while back in '98 or '99 (either a Smash Brothers or N-64 promotion idk). I think I have them all unless they came out with a Luigi or a Toad plushie (but honestly, who cares about Luigi anyway?)

Look at him fly!

Bowser using sumo moves on Mario ftw!

The Gang easily gets wasted on cheap store-brand imitation Cola.

Going through the box of stuffed animals really brought back a shitload of memories. I remember now that I had a pretty big bunny collection, which is even bigger now (with the inclusion of my Skelanimals :)). I really hate it when parents take it on their own to go and box all your shit up and throw it away in a dark corner in an attic somewhere only to be neglected, and eventually forgotten about for decades (which is what happened to my stuff :().
I may as well show off Jack, and my other skelanimals buddies.

(Left to Right: Jack, Diego, and Shadow Jack :D)

Jack-San is such a poseur
Maybe it's just me but I find those Skelanimals plushies to be fuckin adorable. Whenever I go to Hot Topic at the mall they always seem to introduce a new skelanimal pal (last time it was either a cat or a monkey). This last X-mas really sucked shopping wise, because I had to choose between Shadow-Jack, or a set of Skelanimals tree ornaments. I'm glad I went with Shadow Jack, you can't hug a tree ornament when you're feeling like an emofag

I have not been buying much these days just because of lack of room, but I am trying to figure out something because there is so much awesome that I want.
I was torn over whether these belonged in the transformers thread or the toy thread, but I had plenty of other stuff to post in this thread too so I figured I'd do it all at once.
Marvel Transformers Crossovers!
There's a hulk one in this wave too, but I am not really interested in it so not posting. If someone else thinks it is cool they can post. I am really curious to see what characters they might come out with in the future, though.
Mighty Muggs are also pretty much the cutest things ever and I really want some. ; ; If I see Wolverine or Lando in stores, I am pretty much grabbing them on site. ^^
I am pretty disapointed with the regular Dark Knight movie figures, but there is some other Batverse stuff coming out I am pretty psyched about.
There is a nice Nightwing figure coming out in that wave too. Trying not to post too many pics because I don't think many people here care about Batfamily stuffs. ; ;
I also keep seeing a Red Tornado figure from that line that I really like, but I want Young Justice figures for him to hang out with!
And of course, since this is a Ndi post, ponies~
This is the only one I feel really BUY ON SIGHT about right now, but she hasn't showed up in my stores yet. Here are some others I will probably pick up!
