I love minimates but no stores by me carry them. :( I want to see this in person so badly:

You can get the Lanterns bookends on Amazon, but they are not very reasonably priced. $200+ dollars is so far beyond what I am comfortable spending on something that will not have much of a purpose outside of looking awesome in my home.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
05-29-2009, 04:36 PM
Do they still have Minimates in Toys R Us? Now that the only one around is about 20 miles away I don't go. It's not too far to drive really but I usually feel it is just to look at toys

I found this at Wal-Mart yesterday:

...which is interesting since it was a KB Toys Exclusive. I guess maybe Wal-Mart got some of their stock when they closed. Thought I'd never see one.

Marceline
05-29-2009, 04:44 PM
I don't have a Toys R Us by me. Closest one to me is about an hour and a half a way by where all the other Massachusetts shrine people live.

I didn't think that figure was out yet! Nevermind, checked solicits and I was thinking of something else.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
05-29-2009, 05:00 PM
Yeah it's been out for a while as far as I know. That line of toys is just hard to find. It's even harder to find well painted ones. I've slowly built a collection of them, I have about 16 now :o

One I'm most looking forward to is this, for whatever reason:

That's the same DC line that has the really awesome Tim Drake figure, right? The packages with the orangish backing and the blue lettering?

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-02-2009, 08:35 PM
Yeah, DC Universe Classics by Mattel. It's got a lot of ups and downs. A lot of them are hard to find and they often have bad paint and construction quality when you do find them. One of the only Hal Jordan figures I ever found had a broken arm in the package and marks all over his mask :(

It's also a little irksome to me that a lot of the toys use the same exact bodies, and they cost like 12 bucks most places, blah blah, but there are still some really good figures.

Marceline
06-03-2009, 04:48 AM
Yeah, the quality of the line seems really uneven. I am in love with the Tim Drake figure, and I wanted to buy it and get figures of the whole batfamily, but none of the other ones were as nice, and in person the Nightwing figure looked kind of crappy. A figure of just Robin feels weird.

Here's hoping they put out some nice figures for the whole batfamily shakeup!

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-03-2009, 09:06 AM
Their only Batman so far was kind of classic styled, so it doesn't fit with the Robin and Nightwing too well. It looks cool though.

Here's an upcoming Wildcat, what do you think?

Marceline
06-03-2009, 02:26 PM
How awesome would it be to get a Wildcat figure and a Power Girl figure and make them stand right next to each other? JUST THINK OF THE POSES!

He looks really nice!

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-03-2009, 11:08 PM
I think they are making a Power Girl

I just found the Booster Gold and Blue Beetle figures at Target this afternoon. The Booster Gold was the modern version rather than the classic one :(

Marceline
06-04-2009, 01:04 AM
Is the Blue Beetle figure Ted or Jaime? Because if it's Ted I'd love to get it, Booster Gold, and maybe a figure of J'onn for them to torment. All you need is some tiny chocos!

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-04-2009, 08:14 AM
It's Ted Kord

Final product turned out pretty much the same, all the paint just won't be as crisp, of course. Don't have much to complain about with mine though.

The Batman Brave and the Bold Blue Beetle is based on the Jaime suit:

New Minimates coming out:

My favorite Marvel characters are too obscure to get toys, but they're still cute.

I have the comic solicits from that catalog too, if people are interested I can post.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-06-2009, 06:32 AM
I need more Minimates. I only have one Spider-Man set!

What are your favorite characters Ndi, just how obscure can they be? They'd be less deserving of a Minimate than a hydra soldier?

Look at dis shiiiit

Marceline
06-06-2009, 03:02 PM
Characters like Madrox or the Runaways cast. Obscure probably isn't the perfect word- just less popular with the toy buying audience? There'll probably be Runaways toys in a year or two once the movie is closer to coming out. Sometimes I wish I wasn't more into DC, since I think Marvel does a better job with toy stuffs, but I don't really need the temptation. If Transformers Batman or Martian Manhunter was out there I would not be able to resist it.

This is awesome but way too much!

Lunchbox McGillicuddy
06-06-2009, 09:45 PM
Yeah I think the same company has some really good Iron Man figures too. I'd like to have the bank robber Joker especially.

Speaking of Transformers Batman, here are some pretty cool customs from TF: Animated in case you haven't seen them:

Oh man, I hope she isn't too hard to find. I LOVE Power Girl and it looks like a nice figure. She'd be worth breaking my toy hiatus for.

Awesome, a decently articulated Rorschach.

For some reason I never think of The Question as Rorschach, but whenever I see Doctor Mid-Nite I think IT'S NITE OWL. Doctor Mid-Nite is in one of my favorite comics too, so I really should be used to him by now.

Makes me wonder if Mattel could do Watchmen for DCUC. It'd be nice. Comic styled, articulated. The movie ones by DC Direct aren't too far from being statues. A lot of them can't even stand on their own.

So, it's a different character ripping off Rorschach? I was wondering why it wasn't particularly movie accurate. I thought maybe it was the costume he wore in the movie tie in comic but my friend said it wasn't.

That's balls.

How can they get away with blatantly ripping off such an important Marvel character like that?

This is almost as bad as that show that ripped off Gobots. Man I hear they still air that shit.

His original costume tied in better to his Alexander theme, and also went with the character's complete self-confidence. and it just looked fucking wicked. Then again I don't think Matthew Goode had the body to fill out the leotard quite so well.

I don't care about articulation all that much either. Adrian just stands on my desk and watches me study (and other things :-*)

So I saw today that DC is putting out a Cyclone figure and got all excited, and then looked at the pictures only to see her hair is totally the wrong color. :(

Figure:

Actual Character:

At least she's getting a figure though, I guess! Ktulu, do you know if the Power Girl figure you posted is part of the JSA line of figures that are coming out, or did hers come out in the first wave?

I looked at their Mighty Muggs ripoffs too, which for the most part are not very good, but I love the Sinestro one for some reason.

Lunchbox McGillicuddy

Sinestro is pretty snazzy there

The Power Girl I posted is from Mattel's DC Universe line

I found a collared Booster Gold at Target yesterday after work, went ahead and bought it. The center part of the torso is kind of off center and one of the shins is bent a little towards the wrong way, but it's not bad

DCUC wave 9 (with Green Arrow and Wildcat!) was apparently massively under-produced. Big Bad Toy Store only got a whopping 25 percent of what they ordered from Mattel, and they're proving impossible to find anywhere else. I doubt many will ever see them in person. I'm sure I won't.

Also, wave 8 with Dr. Fate has apparently already been out and people aren't able to find those either. I've not seen any of em at all :( Plus - 10 is already showing up!

It really sucks, especially since the quality of the figures had finally become pretty decent compared to the early ones with sloppy paint and such.

SCALPERS! Maybe its for a toy drive but probably SCALPERS!

Lat time I was at walmart 2 of each of that set was there. Got a Joker who has a Great golden/silver age face sculpt. As for the accessories he comes with a mallet with a Pinocchio joker face on it (the handle is his nose) a deck of cards that surprisingly fits in his right hand rather well, a joker fish, & a cane with joker motif.

The real downside is his articulation everythings what you'd hope for and expect but his hip joints are hindered by his pelvis sculpt, the legs don't move as smoothly as they should, he can do the splits easily like how they have in in the package but to get him sitting it feels like he might break ad to that his waist doesn't really turn that well if it even is meant to move at all. And finally his left wrist Can turn but you'll need to give it some coaxing because the sculpt of the sleeve is very tight.

It probably has choking hazards for kids 3 and under, but it's designed to be entertaining to play with for kids 4 and up. I'm sure an 11 year old could play with it just fine too, but it's not the age the toy is aimed at.

There's this super tacky store "Roses" here that looks like it's from the fucking 70s. All the walls are pale green and the signs hanging from the ceiling and what not are hand written. The floor is super faded beige. It's soooo ugly. Their toy section is, of course, a complete train wreck. There's no order to it at all, but if you look through it, there's tons of things you can't find anywhere else, like DCDirect toys and a bunch of old crap that should've been long gone. Last time I went - they still had Mighty Max sets.

I agree to Misato, Link and the Joker, but can I trade the other 5 for Mumra from Thunder Cats, Helghast from Killzone 2, Kratos of God of War II, Solid Snake from MGS1 and a Ghostbuster?

Toon Link instead of Young Link, imo.

I was thinking of Twilight Princess Link.

I'd want TP Link first and foremost, too. Just that he had Young Link in there.

Oh. :D

Edit: Ahh, what the hell. A bonus 9th Revoltech can be Chuck Norris.

1. Save pic
2. open with paint
3. paste what you want a toy made of
4. ???
5. profit

I loved the cell shading but Toon Link's design is kinda ugly unlike young Link who's cute & cuddly. I do want a TP adult Link made just young Link is a bit more of a priority for me, plus if he's from Majora's Mask then we'd get the masks as well.

I'd enagine it would be a fully formed solid Voltron seeing as how there's plenty of transforming ones.

Solid Snake would remind me too much of Major Kusanagi, whom they already have a revoltech for, and I couldn't think of a 5th so Kratos came to mind. Neg, have at the remaining 2.

Yes, just like the Revoltech Megazord, T-Man. I think it was Revoltech.

Alright, I want Phoenix and Edgeworth.

Well then they could just do a head swap and put a new Solid Snake head on Major Kusanagi's body.

If we did that then Snake would have a big "chest"
