Durwood Douch�: Big, Banned & Blue: The Original Underground Sound Of Forties Clubland (AKA: Everybody's F'ing But Me)

Durwood Douch�' is actually the faux Deutsche name of the late great L.A. jazz pianist Dick Shreve. Dick worked for about ten years in the 1970’s with Andy Williams which is when his Durwood Douche persona emerged. During that era, he spent a lot of his spare time on the road writing more of his infamous underground songs that made his alter ego a household name. He published his first Durwood Douche song “Why Me God (Everybody’s Fucking But Me)” in 1979 on vinyl, with side B utilizing the same song in a hysterically funny munchkin voice. The lyrics are explicit but performed with a style and grace that’s quite unexpected. At that time his publishing company was named Aching Loins Publishing. Later on it was changed to Eclecstasy ERP/Publishing.

He continued writing and expanding his catalog of songs, then in 1997 he published a CD called “Everybody’s F#*cking But Me”, that was composed of some of them. All consisted of the superb quality and style as found in the first vinyl. This CD was professionally, but anonymously, recorded by some of the West Coast's finest jazz and studio musicians and vocalists.

In 1999, Dick Shreve made a deal with Roadrunner Publishing in Europe, for the rights to re-release his CD (in Europe). They released it under the name of “Big, Banned and Blue”, claiming it was songs from the 1940’s era, which of course it wasn’t. They also released a couple of singles off their version of the CD.

After being refused by three record companies on the grounds that her performance sounded overtly pert and precocious, she was finally signed by Columbia Records in 1949, when her single �Kanashiki Kuchibue� (Plaintive Whistle), a theme song for a film with the same title, was a Japanese hit. It was followed by more hits, including �Tokyo Kid� and �Watashiwa Machino Ko� (I�m A City Girl) which gave encouragement to the defeated post-war Japanese, as did the film performances of this teen star singing grown-up songs. As well as her numerous chart successes, she also won many awards, and appeared in over 150 films.

Misora was indisputably the all-time queen of kay�kyoku (formerly the most common and typically Japanese form of popular song), but this is a collection of 25 American standards, sung in both Japanese and English, with a big band feel. It's a fascinating collection by an incredible vocalist (with some pronunciation quirks that take a bit of getting used as Ann Harada probably used her as inspiration for Christmas Eve in Avenue Q)

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a multi-platinum double album produced by George Martin,[1] featuring covers of songs by The Beatles. It was released in July 1978, as the soundtrack to the film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which starred the Bee Gees, Peter Frampton and Steve Martin.

The project was managed by The Robert Stigwood Organisation (RSO). In 1975, the original plans for the album were suspended due to a dispute between Columbia and RSO.[2] RSO invested $12 million into this soundtrack and the profit offset set against costs such as $1 million for promotion.[3] The creation of the soundtrack was marked with tension from the beginning, with Frampton and the Bee Gees both feeling wary of the other artist as well as being unsure as to how their music would work together on the same album.[4]

Regarded as one of the worst albums ever recorded,[5] the release made history as being the first record to "return platinum", with over four million copies of it taken off store shelves and shipped back to distributors.[6] Hundreds of thousands of copies of the album ended up being destroyed by RSO. The company itself experienced a considerable financial loss and the Bee Gees as a group had their musical reputation tarnished, though other involved bands such as Aerosmith were unscathed in terms of their popularity.[4]'

I must admit that as regards 'Nancy Wilson' - in the hay-day of the 60's and 70's I had dismissed Nancy Wilson, only knowing the name, without actually listening to her, and had since then always thought, for some reason, that she had just been some 60's pop artist, almost from 'Talma Motown' or just 'Soul'.
It was only when 'Creedmore' posted 2 of her albums 'The Swingin's Mutual (George Shearing) and Broadway-My Way' way back on this thread, that I actually got to really listen to her - (again, sorry to say that your 'Broadway-My Way' is a re-up. but as it appears that Creedmore's links are all down, it's certainly a welcome re-up) - and having really just realised her extensive background in jazz. What an artist - on this alone you've made my day with posting her 3 albums. I just love her. Thanks for these.

And with Marty Paich - never heard of him. I downloaded and listened to him for the first time just now - and got pretty much blown away - pure great jazz stuff from him. Looked up some info and realised how underrated and unheard of he must have been - 'cos mainly his fame is not so much in what he did but in who he did it for - the people he worked and played with - just a brill guy with an extensive jazz background - I'm an instant fan - anymore of him, just bring it on.

So, like I said, you've really made my 'jazzday' - A big thank you 'treehorn' - brill stuff (even if I do sound biased).

Glad you like, Guideff (as you said...Creedmore's links are all MIA so figured while I was upping "Hollywood" might as well re-do Broadway). Have quite a bit of Nancy Wilson. She really enveloped so many styles. On some she sounds like Shirley Bassey (arrangement and style wise...never vocally). Others she even goes into full Disco ala Dionne Warwick with a soup�on of Donna Summers. Thankfully she went back to jazz in the 90s

Sadly that's all the Paich I have...but now that I know your tastes...will see what else fits :)

Since downloading your Nancy Wilson posts I actually also managed to torrent down a fair few more, but in all fairness, they will probably remain for my own listening use, as they won't really be able to see the light of day on this thread, due to the lack of 'movie-tv-or classical' linkage within the albums. Shame, but the few you did post that had that linkage really brought home to me the introduction I needed to seek out more Nancy, and really broadened by Jazz interest (apart from people like Victoria Tolstoy, Eliane Elias and Diana Krall - my main interest has always been concentrated on Instrumental or old swing orchestral jazz - where vocal stuff had always been very minimal).
See, I'm a sucker for jazz, but usually afraid to post it here unless it's got at least a hint of 'movie or tv' in it. I actually had a whole thread taken down, way back, because it covered pure jazz and mainstream jazz (and on reflection - quite rightly to) - anyway, I ramble.
Again - thanks for pushing me more, with your introduction to Nancy Wilson.

Just listening to the first track now of the 'Star Wars' one - unique - sounds like a mix of jazz and classical. A great listening experience.

Didn't know what to think of 'Israeli Disco Fever' - thought it may have been a bit of a laugh, but having listened to it, you know who it reminds me of? - that group from the 60's or was it the 70's - called 'Luv' - cheesey, crass, but you just couldn't stop tappin' your feet and humming along (even though you couldn't understand what they were singing). Good one to have to brighten up the day.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 1 - Mondo Exotica

This is the one Ultra Lounge CD that sees the most play in my CD rotation. It sets the tone for any activity, be it just staring into the trees through my living room window or driving to work on a day when I don't feel well. I always find it hard to critique Ultra Lounge CDs song by song, since I tend to analyze a lounge CD more by its overall feel than by how one particular song makes me react. But this one is really a great place to start the Ultra Lounge collection, partly because it's the first one in the series and partly because it includes some artists that you should get to know independent of the Ultra Lounge compilations: Martin Denny and Les Baxter. These guys really stand out among lounge artists, and their styles are very unique. Overall the collection, for those not familiar with the "exotica" genre, documents lounge's attempt to "go global". This mostly involved lifting themes and ideas from tropical or island music, and the result was a sub-genre that I find delightful! It is more evocative than a lot of other lounge music and is an essential if you own a pool or give a lot of cocktail parties.

wonderful stuff, all of the albums. The Button Down Brass LP is excellent and can recommend two others if you ever see them on your travels, Themes from The Exorcist etc, and also Flashpoint (although recorded under his own name but it's the BDB in all but name). lf you see them both please treat yourself, they are every bit as good as Firedog, perhaps even better !! And l am amazed and excited at the prospect of the complete set of Ultra Lounge, l never got the full set but always meant to, so a huge big thank you !!!

Even if you find that the music is just a throw-back to the days when people in limos were movie stars (and not two girls from Encino using daddy's credit card), it is still a hilarious and joyour romp threw yesteryear.
Fix a highball, add a slice of pineapple, play this CD, and enjoy life.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 5 - Wild, Cool & Swingin'

One of the strongest volumes in the series, and a great introduction for the beginning lounge aficionado, this one includes all the '60s Vegas lounge royalty, and it swings right out of the galaxy!
Aside from a few tracks like "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" by a young Sammy Davis, Jr., the sultry "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To" by Julie London, and the uber-classic "Fever" by Peggy Lee, this volume is commandingly owned by Louis Prima, Bobby Darin, and Dean Martin.
Prima checks in with mega-hit "Jump Jive an' Wail" (recently played to death when the Brian Setzer Orchestra covered it), but his best entry is the uproarious "Closer to the Bone," a cute song about the singer's love for skinny women. Each verse gets more sidesplitting than the last, and if that last one doesn't have tears of laughter rolling down your cheeks, you probably need to listen more closely! (And makes sure to listen for sax player Sam Butera sampling from Glenn Miller's "Pennsylvania 6-5000" at the start of his solo!)
Good ol' Dino is represented here with two of his greatest songs. Everybody loves the soaring "Volare." And the bottom line is, it just doesn't get any better than "Ain't That a Kick in the Head." Dean at his hard-swingin' best and Nelson Riddle's magnificent brassy arrangement made this the perfect tune to kick off the volume.
Bobby Darin wins hands down, with THREE entries. "Sunday in New York" is a beautiful song, capturing Darin's laid-back manner better than any other song I've heard. And light, cool, breezy "More" is just one of the greatest songs ever. (I fell in love with it years ago when I heard it on a car commercial.)

Standouts include The Mallet Men's hypnotic "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," Julie London's steamy "Go Slow," Jackie Gleason's misty, longing "Tenderly" (check out his wonderful set, 'The Romantic Moods of Jackie Gleason') and great George Shearing's sweeping, dramatic "If I Should Lose You."
Milt Buckner (who did "The Beast," one of the best tracks on Vol.4) turns in another winner with the sexy, silky, seductive "Turquoise," although much of the praise is due to the saxophonist. I totally agree with one of the below reviews about Les Baxter's "Lunar Rhapsody." It sounds like a spacey fluff piece at the beginnins, but when that theremin flows in, you're taken away... "Girl Talk" is probably the most memorable song here, if only for the reason that the tune will worm its way into your brain and never leave. The liner notes call it "a pink powder puff of cushioned insinuation." You can't describe it any better than that. It recalls memories of Santo and Johnny's era-defining "Sleepwalk." Perhaps the compiler thought this too, because a version of that song isn't long after. The gently swinging introduction lets you know something special is ahead, and it is. This is a great cover, although I must confess I've never heard a bad one. (The Brian Setzer Orchestra does an incredible Grammy-winning version on their 'Dirty Boogie' CD.) And you know it wouldn't be complete without a cover of "Fever." (The original by Peggy Lee is on Volume 5.) With its pounding opening, its naughty muted trumpet, and chiming, climbing vibes, this is easily the jazziest entry on this volume, with its snazzy, slightly audacious feel.
Al Anthony's enchanting "Ebb Tide" puts you under a spell. When you hear this one, it's best to just sit back, close your eyes, and let the music wash over you like ocean waves. This, lounge lizards, is mood music at its greatest.
A great late-night soundtrack (along with Volume 4), this is one everyone should hear.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 7 - The Crime Scene

I picked this album up to help complete my Ultra-Lounge collection, and they haven't missed the mark with Crime Scene. With jazzy and slick tunes, this one doesn't fail to please. Theme songs to TV shows and movies alike make up a refreshingly familiar and cool set of tunes.
Some reviewers have complained that themes like "Pink Panther" and "Hawaii 5-0" should be included, but this CD introduced me to some theme songs that I'd never heard before ("Walk on the Wild Side," "Search for Vulcan") and besides, "Pink Panther" is already on Mondo Hollywood.
The best part of this entire album is the last (real) track, "Music to Be Murdered By." Jeff Alexander is credited, but the track is introduced by the Master of Suspense and Macabre himself, Sir Alfred Hitchcock, who assures us that "naturally, the record is long playing, even though you may not be." It's a morbid yet pleasant surprise.
The very last track, a "bonus," continues Ultra-Lounge's long-running inside joke with the "Man About Town" soap opera series, this time a love poem (the Hammond Organ is still there).
All in all, an excellent disk for rainy days and planning your next bank heist.

Highlights of Vol. 8 include: The eerie exotica of 'Jungalero' by Les Baxter, the fantastic movie theme 'Charade' (very James Bond), great spy music cuts 'Underwater Chase' and 'I Want To Be A James Bond Girl' (A song you want to sing along to, even though it hasn't any words!), a killer rendition of 'The Pink Panther Theme', and the two sultry & steamy vocal numbers 'Hey Bellboy' and 'Teach Me Tiger'. Saving the best for last, my absolute favorite 2 cuts on the disc are 'Honorable Hong Kong Rock' (what WOULD Austin Powers listen to if he were in Hong Kong?), and Nelson Riddle's astounding 'Lolita Ya-Ya' (from the film 'Lolita'). 'Ya-Ya' sounds like some demented fantasy of a bubble-gum pop song, as imagined by someone who HATES bubble-gum pop songs! Mindlessly cheerful and endlessly amazing...it's truly unique.

Yes, this is one of the best Ultra-lounge CDs, and not just because it tries to transport you into the super-chic world of France, as viewed from the eyes of soon-to-be-too-hip-to-care Americans. Unlike many of the CDs in this set, Bachelor in Paris lands beaucoup points for actual sentiment here, even with the sometimes annoying fake French dame who pops up every now and then. The renditions of the most famous stuff ("La Vie en Rose", "April in Paris", "Milord") are pretty unique, and you can still never say that Sam Butera didn't put every ounce of his soul into his horn. My faves are the lesser known, like "French Rat Race" (Manhatten Transfer eat your hearts out!) and "Under Paris Skies/La La Collette" which may be the single corniest (yet wonderful) performance in the ultra lounge series. Overall, tout � fait beau, and so lovely on a temperate spring afternoon.

I own every volume in the "Ultra-Lounge" compilation series, so I offer my opinion as nothing short of a very enthusiastic fan. Of the two dozen issues in this series, this remains a personal favorite. This album is clearly not the ideal introduction to lounge music, but you'll be surprised that (despite its laughable title) this is also extremely fun. This actually holds up incredibly well, partly because the album's overall pace is moderate to fast. There are very few ballads to slow things down. I still love this album after so many listens because the Hammond organ can sound soothing and spooky at the same time. If you're not partial to lounge music or the sounds of the organ, a lot of this is going to seem like baseball park music. Still, it's a lot of fun.
One wise thing the folks at Capitol Records did when compiling tracks for this album was leaving out any hardcore swing music. Hearing a Hammond organ over a hyperactive big band doesn't work. Although moving fast & funky, none of these tracks are loaded with heavy instrumentation, so there's nothing too loud coming through your speakers when you cue this up. On "Comin' Home Babay," you find yourself cruising through a 60s spy movie, while the relaxing "Enchanted Farm" makes use of birdcalls and sci-fi sound effects. Martin Denny has the best song on this issue with "Song of the Bayou" where bongos create a gentle stomp in the background while a dueling piano and flute alternate off a wah-wah sounding organ - it sounds like a downright eerie journey into swamp lounge.
Other reviewers are correct in illustrating that the songs on this compilation are very rare. While you can order a Billy May album anywhere online, the recordings of master organists John Buzon, Jackie Davis and Denny McClain are not available outside of this album. You'll be surprised by how this album exceeds your expectations, despite its cheesy title. I wouldn't recommend this album for lounge beginners (buy volumes 4 & 8 instead), but I'm sure lounge fans or anyone who loves the organ will definitely find plenty to smile when hearing this.

I literally have over 100 Hair albums uploaded if anybody wants me to post them...

I actually got that cover and back from 'https://www.discogs.com/' as the one that came with it was just as bland as the one you described (so it may be the same one).
As for over another 99 albums posts of 'Hair' - I don't see why not - Probably not all at once in one go, but certainly 99 variations on 'Hair' has got to be a good thing - as a history lesson on one of the most iconic shows of it's era.
I personally thought the lyrics were crap but the music was great.
Go for it, I should.

Thanks 'treehorn' for what looks like the start of an up and coming and unique project.
In a weird sort of way, when I first clapped eyes on your 'Hair' History Vol.1 posts I thought 'following this is actually going to be rather exiting.'

Intrigued I scouted and found this 'All Music Review by William Ruhlmann' out:
Throughout its various runs off-Broadway, at the Cheetah nightclub, and on Broadway, the musical Hair was subjected to continual tinkering by composer Galt MacDermot and lyricist/cast members James Rado and Gerome Ragni, with songs and other elements added and removed. In fact, Rado and Ragni were briefly fired from the production in April 1969 for introducing too many changes, especially ones that made the show more risqu�. The same month, however, the original Broadway cast album topped the charts, and RCA Victor became more interested in all those extra songs than the show's producer. So, the creative team reconvened with past and present cast members and put together this follow-up album, which annotator Nat Shapiro admitted was undefinable: "In addition to being a very special bonus trip," he wrote, "DisinHAIRited is an extension, an amplification and a continuation of Hair. Some of its songs were first written or projected for the original New York Shakespeare Festival production, some for Broadway, and some for this recording. This is not an original-cast album. (Actually, we don't know what it is.)" While the collection didn't contain any sure-fire hits on the order of "Aquarius," "Good Morning Starshine," or "Hair," it did have the same combination of irreverence, wit, and timely commentary in the lyrics and pop/rock eclecticism in the music that its predecessor had. "I Dig," for example, was another of those non-rhyming personal statements like "Frank Mills"; "The Bed" was gentle, sexy, and catchy; and "Eyes Look Your Last/Sentimental Ending" was a closer with the intensity of "The Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In." (Such songs as "Electric Blues" and "Going Down" had long since made it into the stage production.) If the album was ultimately a coda to the first LP, it nevertheless had its pleasures for fans of the show.

Now I can see, if we don't take care, this 'Hair Trivia' becoming a craze.
Maybe also someone should suggest to Ken Burns that he needs look no further for a new documentary.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 13 - TV Town

The Ultra-Lounge series is of course limited to album tracks and singles on the Capitol label, and cobbling together so many different styles of lounge music is bound to create both excitement and dissension, but "TV Town" plays very smoothly, with hardly any ringers, and features some rare, collectible sides besides! Peggy Lee's "Bewitched" is quite a find(for the record, "I Dream of Jeannie"'s theme had lyrics too, but it wasn't on Capitol). Nelson Riddle's "Naked City" is a corker, as are Dave Pell's "Thanks for the Memory" and Jack Marshall's "The Munsters"(a jazzier, yet more toned down version than the theme you hear on TV). Liberty Orch.'s "Burke's Law Suite" is too long but has its moments, and John Barry's "Human Jungle" is very intriguing. A nice addition to the series, with another booklet full of great colorful photos.

This is one of the more danceable collections in the Ultra Lounge series. It makes some of the best music I've ever heard for housecleaning or other mundane tasks--put it on and suddenly you feel like it's a hot summer day in a steamy South American city. It also awakens in me a strange desire to play this music, loudly, while dancing in the spray from a broken fire hydrant. As far as lounge music goes, this is fairly upbeat stuff. It's not so conducive to chilling as some of the other volumes in this series; in fact, I dare anyone to keep still while it's playing. This is a solid buy, and a great introduction to the bossa nove style of music.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 15 - Wild, Cool & Swingin' Too!

Like its predecessor, this CD stands out as a collection of all-vocal tracks, while other Ultra-Lounge CDs feature a few vocal songs at most and many volumes are totally instrumental. That's something all you lounge lizards out there should probably know, since most people I know definitely prefer either vocal or instrumental lounge music and that will affect how you feel about this CD. That fact aside, this is every bit as swingin' and enjoyable a collection as the first volume. The inclusion of the classic "Boy From Ipanema" alone makes this an album worth owning if you are a martini-swilling night owl. However there are many other classic tunes here as well and if vocals are your thing, this is one of the better compliations out there to throw on when you're trying to seduce someone in your shag-carpeted living room over a couple of cosmopolitans.

Ultra-Lounge Vol. 17 - Bongoland

This Bongoland volume is the most rigorous of the Ultra-Lounge series. Most of the series has strong latin elements, but this one is further latin than any of the others. Its the only one that sounds like North Americans didn't make, at least not on their own (which is in no way a criticism of the ones that 'do' sound North American made). It is the most spontaneous sounding, though still in keeping with the polished/composed approach of the Ultra-Lounge series.
There are 18 listed tracks PLUS little unlisted solo bongo interludes spotted thru-out.
There is alot of variety. Each melody is distinctive, and there are tempo-changes all over the place. The rhythm is so successfull at fulfilling the expectations that a title like Bongoland, brings. But, as in all Ultra-Lounge CDs, it's never just one instrument taking the limelight. As long as you realize that the bongos aren't always in the foreground (except for the interludes), you won't be disappointed.

It's not possible for most of us to record our old LP's for posting (I for one have a load of LPs but could never afford the set up needed to record and post the music from them), but if it is possible - 'Cratedigga's Library Music (from 60's to 70's) - Compilations and Various Albums [FLAC + MP3 320]' thread would benifit from any uploads you could do from what you've got. Again, it's certainly understandable if it's not possible.

Volume 2
This edition of the Exclusive Blend series sees us enter the vaults of De Wolfe, Amphonic and KPM. When Volume 2 was released in September 1997 most of these library tracks, as with Volume 1, were getting their first ever commercial airing. In particular, the album introduced James Clarke's 'Wild Elephants' to the world, which was subsequently picked up by The Gap and used on their 'Khaki A-Go-Go' ad campaign of 1999, consequently being released and retitled 'Blow Up A-Go-Go!' as a single for Summer 1999. It later became the title track for 'Blow Up A-Go-Go! - Dancefloor Classics 'from the legendary Blow Up club' which was released in conjunction with V2.
Once again, the compilation includes tracks from many great music library theme writers including Keith Mansfield, Alan Hawkshaw and Syd Dale, ranging from the Alan Moorhouse Hammond heavy classic 'Soul Skimmer' to the spaced out tribal funk of Nick Ingam's 'Tripwire'.
Volume 2, like the first, has gone on to receive much international recondition with Dj's, collectors and just plain old music lovers alike, introducing many to the twilight world of the unknown session man just doing his thang. Volume 2, like it's predecessor has gained a loyal following vindicated by its continual re-pressing since its initial release.

Volume 3
It was three years since the release of Exclusive Blend Volume 2, but it was worth the wait. If you own both Volumes 1 and 2, you will know they are both on different tips - Volume 1 is a more up-tempo pop flavour of hammond-driven dancefloor jazz, while Volume 2 is a little slower, with a slightly more sophisticated 'soundtrack' edge. Similarly, Volume 3 will try to introduce something a little different again. This sixteen track album, was compiled in Paris from the late 60's and early 70's vaults of France's Telemusic Library, by Blow Up's Paul Tunkin, . The album was preceded by a limited 7" single (as part of the new 'Blow Up 45 Series') taken from the album - Guy Pedersen's smokey sitar haze that is 'Indian Pop Bass.'

another selection of superb music, loved the Stanley Black and Hugo M albums. I didn't realise the Blow Up series comprised of 4 albums, l have only seen the first 2, which featured English composers and KPM library tracks but then the other volumes started going continental which was very interesting and enjoyable. Thanks Guideff, and indeed again for the UL collection, they were just wonderful, the majority l hadn't heard before. How anyone could fail to like and enjoy them would be a mystery, they were wonderful !!

Release Notes:
Deserted Palace is an album of experimental instrumental electroacoustic music composed and produced by Jean Michel Jarre, and released on Sam Fox Records in 1972. It is Jarre's very first album, released four years before his breakthrough album, Oxyg�ne. It was an album of library music, intended for use in television programmes, adverts, films, and so forth. It has not been subsequently re-released, although it is widely available as a bootleg. On 30 May 2011, several tracks from this album were officially released on the Essentials & Rarities compilation album.

La Cage is the 1971 debut single by Jean Michel Jarre. Although already produced in 1969, Jarre was unable to find a record label that was willing to release the single due to its experimental or futuristic sounds. After a few turn downs, he found Pathe Marconi willing to take the risk in 1971. But the single turned out to be a commercial failure, with only 117 copies sold. Pathe Marconi destroyed the remaining stock. However, the mastertape of La Cage was preserved, so that could be featured on the compilation Made in France in 1978. The single can also be found at the Rarities I bootleg compilation in 1994, while the rhythm of Erosmachine was reused throughout the track Chronolgie 2 from his 1993 album Chronologie.

The song was performed only one time in his career at Opera in Paris, when he produced the first electro-acoustic opera, AOR. Jarre became the youngest producer to see one of its works played at the Paris Opera, at it's reopening in 1971. It was the first time that electronic music had been allowed to be used, and Jarre even had to paint his speakers gold to match the decor of the opera house. There he performed with the Paris Opera Ballet and choreographer Norbert Schmucki.
Jarre himself had lost his copy during a move and didn't own it anymore until a fan presented him a copy as a gift.

Les granges br�l�es (The Burned Barns) is an album by Jean Michel Jarre, released in 1973 on Eden Roc, in France and Canada. It is the soundtrack to the film of the same name starring Simone Signoret and Alain Delon. In 2003 the album was re-released on CD by Disques Dreyfus.

Jean Michel Andr� Jarre (born 24 August 1948 in Lyon) is a French composer, performer and music producer. He is a pioneer in the electronic, ambient and New Age genres, and known as an organiser of outdoor spectacles of his music featuring lights, laser displays, and fireworks.

Jarre was raised in Lyon by his mother and grandparents, and trained on the piano. From an early age he was introduced to a variety of art forms, including those of street performers, jazz musicians, and the artist Pierre Soulages. He played guitar in a band, but his musical style was perhaps most heavily influenced by Pierre Schaeffer, a pioneer of musique concr�te at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales.

His first mainstream success was the 1976 album Oxyg�ne. Recorded in a makeshift studio at his home, the album sold an estimated 12 million copies. Oxyg�ne was followed in 1978 by �quinoxe, and in 1979 Jarre performed to a record-breaking audience of more than a million people at the Place de la Concorde, a record he has since broken three times. More albums were to follow, but his 1979 concert served as a blueprint for his future performances around the world. Several of his albums have been released to coincide with large-scale outdoor events, and he is now perhaps as well known as a performer as well as a musician.

As of 2004 Jarre had sold an estimated 80 million albums. He was the first Western musician officially invited to perform in the People's Republic of China, and holds the world record for the largest-ever audience at an outdoor event.

Sorry to say, it appears the link for 'Electric Hair - 1969 Instrumental Album' is the same as the one for 'Electronic Hair Pieces - 1969 Mort Garson'.

It's a weird sensation. In the back of your mind, when you're listening to the 'Hair' posts - you assume you should be hearing the same thing over again, but you're proving yourself wrong each time. It's as though you're always listening to something quite new and different than before - always. Like I say 'it's a weird sensation.
That's the same with rexkramer77's 'March Music Albums' thread (worth a plug - find it here Thread 194052 - a breath of free air). You think it should be all the same (well, it's all March Music - ain't it?) - but when you hear a second one, and then a third, and so on, you know it just 'ain't so - different and new every time.
Like you said treehorn - 'I've got over 100 (and it's not even my favorite show...but I love how other ears/minds adapt the songs)'

.... and just realised something. I've always known that my spelling is 'crap' -
When I said what a coupe, I actually meant what a coup (as in a highly successful, unexpected stroke, act, or move; a clever action or accomplishment) but on reflection coupe (as in a stylish and sophisticated choice (albeit in automobiles)) serves equally well.
Take both compliments - as both fit the bill.

That's what makes the cast albums so interesting - to see how arrangements change over the years, especially when it goes global...and as there's no 'book' per se the interpretation gets tweaked as well (have one that happened right after 9/11 and it totally incorporated it into the show)

Ok! I'll consider Mediafire.
Got a few Mega files set up still from before this, but I will need to change host when I've posted them, cos my free allowance will Mega is all used. I actually put a paid voucher for the extra space for a month, which finishes soon, and I was going to pay for a years worth, but with this take-down, I didn't want to waste my money in case this happened again.
Actually this take-down has actually put me back in the Free-zone bracket (with about 3GB of space to spare) so I can still use that bit of space up but I will need another outlet, and Mediafire does give me 10gb free to start with - so it'll be worth giving that a try first.

It was 'creedmoor', way back in this very thread, that first introduced me to BA. I was so hooked I torrented down a whole set of her stuff.
On reflection, she's to modern for the Attic really, but she's done a fair bit for the 'old' tunes (with regards to 'Movies and Shows') that, over time, I'll probably slip in more of her stuff every so often.

Because of this and in order to lessen any future possible damage, I'm now re-editing my existing posts as quickly as I can and am asking that requests for links be placed as comments in the thread (and that PMs will be ignored) and will also ask the same with any future posts of mine (at least for the foreseeable future until the 'twat' or 'twats' that are doing this are found and dealt with - (bring back Capitol Punishment is what I say).

By the mid-1950s Love was writing for several recording labels - moving from Philips to Polydor and PolyGram before finally settling at EMI. Whilst at the HMV label he arranged for Frankie Vaughan and Alma Cogan among others. Whilst working at Columbia, he arranged Laurie London's gospel song "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands", a 1957 chart topper in the US.

In the late 1950s, playing under the pseudonym of 'Manuel and his Music of the Mountains', Love's created his Theme from Honeymoon (1959) which proved popular in the UK. His attempt to keep his identity secret whilst playing as 'Manuel' was impossible due to success, especially in the US in 1959 and 1960.

oh yes, he got around, very clever marketing but of course the secret soon got out, but at least it allowed him to create different sounds, as you can tell if you listen to them. The Geoff Love orchestra is entirely different to his Manuel orchestra.
