This thread is superb. I see this getting as 'famous' (if that's the right way to say it) as Cratedigga's Library Music (from 60's to 70's) - Compilations and Various Albums, which actually would be a more difficult thing to achieve seeing as your thread is limited to March Music.
It's not just 'a welcome breath of fresh air' more like a gust. It's not only different enough to be educational, but greatly enjoyable as well. I now find myself looking forward to listening to more of the same, more of something that in the past I might not have given a second glance to.

I myself have put a short hold on uploading stuff, due to personal commitments that I need to focus on, (and slightly in part due to the recent hack scare going on here).
Like I say there's already a wealth of stuff here. And anyway a bit of 'keeping us in suspense' and in a state of anticipation can only be a good thing. (nobody deserves to 'have it all given to them, on a plate - and all in one go.')

Maybe only 6 tracks in it, but what a listening experience. This is not only 'March Music', but 'Great Music'.

I must warn you rexkramer77 (and also you, tri2061990, who recently has added to all this) that what you're doing can cause serious emotional and physical harm.
An overload of such extreme good shares, such as you are giving out can only lead to many sleepless nights, possible heart failure, and on being seen walking around constantly with a grin on our face, of being accused by others of having a false sense of reality.
Christmas should only come once a year, and not every day of the year as you have led us to believe.
Just when I think it's all over, having just downloaded the latest set of exciting shares, wham, another set is put in front of us. I am put in a constant state of excitement. This can have a serious affect on unsuspecting forum members. Have a care, guys, with such superb behaviour from youselves, we may start taking you to much for granted.
As for you rexkramer77 - The Mike Westbrook Concert Band-Marching Song Volume 1 and 2, anything that smacks of 'jazz' gets me salivating. A great find - loved it.
And tri2061990 - I can't remmember exactly which one, but the 'choir' singing on one of yours, can't understand a word of what theyr'e singing but what a wonderful listening experience, (reminds me of the welsh mining choirs when theyr'e at it, can't understand 'em but beautiful to listen to).

This is a remarkable thread, i own some marching music records but can't convert it to my PC, both players and cardridges are broken.
One of my favorite russian albums was the Alexandrov Ensemble singing and playing marches, double LP from Melodya/Ariola Eurodisc.
It would be nice to find this here sometime.

Just now getting round to listening to 'Chinese Central Philharmonic Choir - Brilliant Voice' - (right now listening to 'On the Taihang Mountain')
Apart from the fact that the words are of a different language, and female voices are present, can't get away from the overall sound that reminds me of the Welsh choir sound. Get's to me every time. Beautiful, emotive and confirms the title 'Brilliant Voice'.

Xian Xinghai - Yellow River Cantata


The Yellow River Cantata (Chinese:黄河大合唱 Pinyin: Hu�ngh� D�h�ch�ng) is a cantata by Chinese composer Xian Xinghai (1905–1945). Composed in Yan'an in early 1939 during the Second Sino-Japanese War, the work was inspired by a patriotic poem by Guang Weiran, which was also adapted as the lyrics.

The Yellow River Cantata laid the ground for Chinese contemporary large-scaled vocal music composition. In late 1960s, it was adapted into a piano concerto entitled the Yellow River Piano Concerto by the pianist Yin Chengzong

There are altogether four different versions of the Yellow River Cantata that had been performed in public. The first was the initial composition by Xian Xinghai while in Yan'an. Accommodations were made for the lack of musical instruments at that time, as the orchestra consisted of only the violin, Chinese flute, harmonica, sanxian, erhu and dahu, among a few percussion instruments.
A year after Xian departed for the Soviet Union in 1940, he amended his composition for performance by a fully equipped Western orchestra, aided by a few Chinese ethnic instruments. He also made some amendments to the choral arrangement. In addition, a prologue was added, increasing the number of movements to nine.
The third and fourth revisions were respectively made by Xian's students, Li Huanzhi and Yan Liangkun. Li simplified the "Soviet" version for performance by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, while Yan incorporated the prologue into the first movement to return the cantata to its initial arrangement of eight movements for performance by the Central Orchestra during the 1980s. Yan also made heavy amendments to the Third Movement, Water of the Yellow River comes from Heaven, such that the new melody was vastly different from the original. This last revision became the most played and heard version today.

The real speciality for me is the 'Triumph of the Will - Marches, Speeches, Ceremonies' album, which was recorded at Nuremberg.
(Based on the infamous and banned Leni Riefenstahl's (Hitler's liebling film-director) movie 'Triumph des Willens' - a shocking docu-feature).
I have never heard of any released OSTs of it!That's really great!I'm so excited to listen it (I saw the film ages ago)!

I tried to find it in the net in the past few days/weeks, since 'vivoensanse' requested, but I failed.

Rexkramer77, your posting these fine LPs is making me smile every day. Adding John Philip Sousa into the thread is par for the course; what would any military music thread be w/o some Sousa?

The sublime beauty of Sousa's marches makes me feel all verklempt. I sense feelings I haven't felt in years.

Other times, Sousa leaves me feeling that I want to write poetry, pick flowers and play with puppies...

How does perfection get any better? And yet, that's exactly what's happened to this thread.





On the other hand, this is a big problem for me because inter-Galactic Fascists aren't supposed to have feelings!

I'm feeling very confused. There's a disturbance in The Force!
