He recorded a 45 rpm single in 1964 for Canjo Records to coincide with the film Bikini Beach (Side A: "Chicken Surfer"/Side B: "Looney Gooney Bird"). He was the only member of the cast who could actually surf!

TREK BLOOPERS (BLUE PEAR RECORDS) (1972)






Back in 2007, I contributed this to another web site that is still up (as of this writing) but it could go away at any time. So I thought I'd place it here.

The back liner notes state, these bloopers were rescued from old reel-to-reel audio tapes from a "Hollywood garbage can" and sold to a Star Trek collector... only after they created this album to cash in! The rest of the liner notes detail the entire process of what "Fifty-five apples, take one" mean, why several of these tracks are painfully similar, and other info.

What you get are 58 different bloopers and outtakes from four different episodes from the third and final season of "Star Trek". For those "Trekkies" out there who want to know which episodes, they are (in no particular order) "Whom Gods Destroy", "The Way To Eden", "Let This Be Your Last Battlefield", and "Turnabout Intruder".

Listen as the crew flub lines, assistant directors yelling "BEEP" to fill in the now famous phaser sound effect, Shatner swearing, space hippies singing, Scotty "playing football" on the bridge (?), a rather "delirious" Dr. Janice Lester that sounds awfully X-rated, and the final lines Nurse Chapel (Majel Barrett - the future Mrs. Gene Roddenberry) ever uttered on the show.

(Fun fact...when we got our first cat we googled to see if the Cat in the movie ever got a name...and Google gave us Putney as the name of the cat...which we later discovered was the name of the 'cat' who played Cat)

The cat, trained by the incomparable Frank Inn, was named Putney, but in the film she was cast as a poor, dumb, no-name slob. If anything, you should have named your cat Rusty Trawler.

Not my attic, by the way, or even my rips.
This is really a continuation of 'Creedmoor's' brilliant contributions in the realms of old LP's (or vinyl, more affectionately called) stuff that is currently experiencing a resurgent (especially on this forum), and where Creedmoor's posts are dotted about all over this forum (click his profile and on his most recent threads and you'll find a wealth of goodies there.)

This is my own 'jumping on the bandwagon' contribution to this area of 'missed out when I was young' - 'long forgotten' or just plain 'long unappreciated past' stuff that most people have probably still got hidden away in their lofts or in the attics of their parents.

Alfred Newman - Conducts His Great Film Music - Capitol/Angel Records - 1973 MP3 @ 320



I'm not sure as to when or exactly how this re-recording compilation conducted by the Maestro himself was assembled. The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra was used but isn't clear where this was recorded or for how many of these tracks that orchestra was involved. Much confusion exists in the discussions over on the FSM board over the dates and places involved as well.

No confusion as to this being a great find and a permanent keeper in my collection. Recorded sometime in the 1960's in stunning stereo sound before Newman's death in 1970.

I figured as much. It's getting lonely around here, so even if you check in now and again it's nice to know that you're around. Thanks for all the input, my friend.
And I'd give a slight edge to Bernard Herrmann and Victor Young, but #3 in that company is still beyond spectacular.

Just for the S&G factor,my opinion has my favorite composers rated this way:

1 Alfred Newman
2 Jerry Goldsmith
3 Elmer Bernstein
4 John Williams.

I give these 3 Silver Age composers a whole lot of respect and place them ahead of all the other Golden Age Composers save one - Alfred Newman. 9 Academy Award wins(and not enough IMHO) is a pretty good resume in anyone's book.

We'll forever part company on John Williams. The spielberg/lucas connection is a deal killer.

After being refused by three record companies on the grounds that her performance sounded overtly pert and precocious, she was finally signed by Columbia Records in 1949, when her single �Kanashiki Kuchibue� (Plaintive Whistle), a theme song for a film with the same title, was a Japanese hit. It was followed by more hits, including �Tokyo Kid� and �Watashiwa Machino Ko� (I�m A City Girl) which gave encouragement to the defeated post-war Japanese, as did the film performances of this teen star singing grown-up songs. As well as her numerous chart successes, she also won many awards, and appeared in over 150 films.

Misora was indisputably the all-time queen of kay�kyoku (formerly the most common and typically Japanese form of popular song), but this is a collection of 25 American standards, sung in both Japanese and English, with a big band feel. It's a fascinating collection by an incredible vocalist (with some pronunciation quirks that take a bit of getting used as Ann Harada probably used her as inspiration for Christmas Eve). You ain't heard nothing 'til you've heard "Mac the Knife" sung as with a Latin feel in Japanese.

Gems from Darlene and Jonathan Edwards. Great albums to put on at a dinner party and wait for the guests to slowly turn and look at the stereo and go WTF????

For those who don't know them...Darlene and Jonathan Edwards were really Paul Weston and Jo Stafford, who for fun created these...well, imagine Florence Jenkins as a jazz/big band singer with a ham handed pianist...and would record songs for fun when they were at the end of a session. And nobody does bad performing like REALLY great performers.

oh, can l just ask, how on earth are you able to scan the whole record sleeve ? l have never seen them look as good and perfect ?

I have to hold my hands up and say that in all truth, my posts are sourced through pure plagarism.
I am a child of the late 50's and 60's, so my nostalgia is genuine and I do have a vast collection of old vinyles (even old Readers Digest - K-tel collections etc.), but all my posts are obtained via net-trawling (going way back via torrents and at a time when 'rapidshare' was the main and even more recent times). I'm not proud of this, but it does get me there.
As for the covers, most are as recieved from my downloadings from the web resources. Any that come without covers are supplimented by my going to a great site called 'www.discogs.com' that has front and back cover images and background info. I just use photoshop to standadise my posts.,
Hope this confession doesn't come as a 'let down' for the fans of this thread - as the intent of this thread is genuinely there, however the end result is obtained.

It depends where you're from really. 'Rock Follies' was a UK British thing - TV Drama series (2 seasons) - the second season LP should be about somewhere. Average drama, but not bad songs or singing. I remember it well.

He must of recorded about a dozen film albums, 2 of which were only released in France and Belguim, and therefore are rare and l would say never turn up as digital downloads, or at least l have never seen them, but are very good and if you get a chance to hear them l would recommend them to you and everyone who follows these posts. They are Big Western Movie Themes Volume 3 and Big Horror Movie Themes (that may not be a direct translation) and l don't know why they didn't appear in the US or the UK.
Also recommended is an album of War Movie Themes. No, not his, recorded with his own orchestra called Big War Movie Themes - which l feel is one of the best albums he recorded, but another one where he conducted the London Philharmonic. It was called Music at War, then re-released a few years later as Classic War Themes with a different cover. l have given up hope of ever seeing digital copies of these 3 albums, but if you guys ever come across them on your travels l really recommend them to you

With me, I don't like to be beat - ever since, way, way back on this thread, someone had suggested/requested the 'BBC -TV LPs' and that's why I managed to include them in my posts (not only that, but I remember and loved the LPs from the original time). O.K. - a bit (more like a lot) after the request event, but nevertheless we got 'em there.

no worries Guideff, l genuinely don't expect them to turn up, they are too obscure, and l don't intend to do any requests, l am just pleased and grateful for what turns up. that's me, and you do spoil us with these great albums. l wasn't ever expecting to see the TV Spectacular box set and the bbc themes. There is a volume 4 which l didn't buy at the time and they did some specials as l remember, sci-fi which l think has been posted, a vol 2 of sorts, two sports album, one on comedy and one on detectives, but goodness knows where they are. Shame they stopped them as they were, by and large, the originals themes too.

With any reference to Creedmoor's links being down, or from anyone requesting re-ups, or even from those who are concerned for his absence, I would suggest that they refer to the end of his 'post #884 - 04-17-2016 04:19' where Creedmoor gives his reasons for his actions.
Whether he intended to take all his links down also at that time, I couldn't say, but it does appear as though the links from all his other threads on the forum itself are down also, not only on this thread, so the reason for no re-ups may well be that hiis hosting account may well have exceeded his allowed limit (due to the enormous number of his posts - and please bear in mind - his output was indeed phenomenal).
Also since that date he doesn't appear to have been active on the forum as a whole.
There are many possible reasons why his links are down and probably purposely won't be re-uped, but the clue is there at the end of his last post.

It depends where you're from really. 'Rock Follies' was a UK British thing - TV Drama series (2 seasons) - the second season LP should be about somewhere. Average drama, but not bad songs or singing. I remember it well.
By all means upload 'her two solo albums' - I actually always thought of Julie more as an actress than a singer - shows what I know.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to have crossed the pond...but will have to look for it (wonder if it's out on DVD...Amazon.co.uk here I come :)

I knew her from her being Evita 1.0, and on the original Godspell UK cast album. Her two solo CDs...are...interesting.

I noticed the following on my net-trawling travels and just couldn't pass them by -
My ever first only knowledge of 'Porn Films' was taken from my teen schools years (all boys school at that time - missed out on the mixed intergration bit) where you heard from a classmate that he'rd heard from a friend of his who had heard that a friend of his who had actually seen one,(well - talk about late developer), and Godess's of porn were never actually seem, but we knew their names were Marilyn Chambers and Linda Lovelace.
Did the music ever really end up in your dad's (or even your) 'attics' - probably, or maybe not - maybe thay just stayed put (hidden under batchelor beds or other such hiding places - along with the 'girlie' mags).
I can see the jokes coming fast and furious now -
And I ask myself - who actualy reseached for these music albums, and would anybody even remmember the accompaning music - or for that matter have even really been listening to it at that time - "The music's good on this in'it?" - "Oh! yea, must look out for the soundtrack -catchy in'it?"
